Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jessie and Tati with you. Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Becky Mintz, really quick. After our conversation yesterday about your
air conditioner and you really struggle when you put it
on or how long to put it on. This is
all stemmed from growing up and your parents being kind
of stingy with the air conditioner.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Oh, not my parents.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
My grandparents.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Love them.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
It was your grandparents.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (00:16):
Yeah, we would stay over their house a lot in
the summertime if my parents were traveling or whatever.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
And then in the evening, in the summertime, they would
not turn it on.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Ha ha.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
I remember that.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
My brother and I were just sweating all night, not sleeping.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Okay, so how are we doing after yesterday's talk? Did
you run the air conditioner yesterday? Did you run it
last night?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
I did not. I didn't feel like I needed to.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
She's not there yet. We got to get her there.
Come on.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Well, last night didn't actually last night. You didn't need to.

Speaker 6 (00:45):
And even the night before wasn't as bad.

Speaker 5 (00:46):
So I will tell you, my house gets hotter. It's
way hotter inside my house than it is outside. I
don't know why, but it is.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (00:52):
You don't have one of those window fans that you
could just put into your window and then it sucks
the air out of your apartment.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
And no, I'm bringing one of those in for you.
I have extra ones taught you. Those are the best.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
They are the best.

Speaker 6 (01:03):
They exchange the air. They take the air out of
your home and then they blow. push cold air from
the outside in.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Oh, I got to get one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
They're the best.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I got one for you. Dead serious. Okay, great. I
have too many of them. Okay, great.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I need one.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Sis, don't worry. We got you, island girl.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
We got you, island girl.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Thank you, sis.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Trying to help you with your air conditioning anxiety is
what this is called. Double A's.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'm worried about the electricity bill.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Hey guys, good morning. It's CJ. I'm a dual citizen
of California and Arizona. And... In California, I didn't really
hear about super cooling, but in Arizona, that's a thing.
So during the off-peak hours and it's less expensive, you
try to get your house as cold as possible. So
you might be walking around with jackets or blankets on,

(01:46):
but then when it's high cost in San Diego, that's
between 4 and 9, you shut it off.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Everything is off except like a fan.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
We don't really do that, but I hear people say that.
I actually want to do that. Because I know, I mean,
I can get my house down to probably like 69,
70 in the middle of the day. But when it's
four o'clock, hopefully that residual cool would stay.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Yeah, I think so. I think it'll work.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Producer Becky Mitch, you said you're mostly scared about the
bill though, right?

Speaker 5 (02:10):
I am scared about the electricity bill. Do you know
my air conditioner is on right now?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
62. That's how cold I want it to be. And
it never gets there.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It will never get there. So it's fighting.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I set mine to like 78.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
No, I want to be frozen.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Why do you even turn it on?

Speaker 6 (02:23):
78? Because it's like 100 degrees.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
What do you mean, why even turn it on?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, I guess you're right.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
78? 62?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Why don't you just move to Seattle? I mean, I
don't understand, guys. Listen, what are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Well, hold on a second.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Are we trying to be in an icebox?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Your husband, yes.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Your husband sent you something. You said he sent you
something yesterday. What did he say?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
He sent it to the family chat because he wanted
whoever left the patio door open while the AC was
on to know how much we were paying for electricity.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
And it said upward to $ 500 something.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Wait, someone left it on with the patio open?

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Somebody opened the patio door so that the cat can
go out and use litter and didn't wait for it
to be done and bring the cat back in.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
How many hours?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
And no one was home?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Who knows?

Speaker 6 (03:04):
He said he got home and the AC was still on.
And I was like, I don't know why the AC
was on at six something because I believe in what
CJ says.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
By the time it's like four o'clock, turn it off.
It doesn't matter. The house is cooled enough. And yes,
at 78, cooled enough.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
First of all, that's not cool enough, but.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I need an AC expert to call in and say,
that's cool enough.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, I actually like that. I should get my friends
over at Bill Howe on the phone. Is anyone in
that world right now want to call and tell us
what's 78 in the home? Is that even cool? And Becky, 62?

Speaker 1 (03:34):
When was it ever 62 in Hawaii? It never is.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Exactly. I just want my house to be as cold
as possible. Trust me, it never gets that cold. I
don't know if my AC isn't working right.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I know Mr. Becky was trying to figure out, he
was like, is the fan blowing this.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
Way or that way?

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm like, bro, I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
62. Well, you know what the funny part is? In
two weeks, we won't even remember this conversation.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Well, exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
We'll be like, remember we were talking about how it
was so hot, should I run my air conditioner?

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Still, still on this AC conversation because why, guys? We're
all going to feel that hit. Good morning.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Tati, I just want to say 78 degrees is great.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I live in La Mesa.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
It gets really hot. And we're lucky when we can.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Cool our house to 78 degrees.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
It's a stark contrast from outside to inside.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
So I'm with you all the way, Tati.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Man.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Thanks, Jamie.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
It really is true, but.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I like to exist in my crazy alone.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
So when anybody validates it, I'm like, oh, what?

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I'm not so crazy.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
You're probably never in your crazy alone. Everybody feels a
different way about this. And you probably have a whole
gang of people. And you call this the 78 gang
listening right now in the car. They're like, oh, I
love a little layer of sweat.
