Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nellie with Kelly.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
And Jesse with Tati.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
And Tati.
Speaker 1 (00:04):
Just the two syllable names really work on the marquee. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Nellie Kelly, Jesse Tati.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
All right.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Speaking of the marquee yesterday, there was a new sign
up on the marquee at what is the old bullies
restaurant in Del Mar? I think it's bullies. It was
like 40 years.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
I've never been there.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
It was like an old one. Well, anyway, someone bought it,
redid the whole thing. And it's this new place called
Honor Bar Restaurant.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oh, like spelled like H-O-N-O-R?
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Oh, yeah. Oh, my gosh. I think it's the fanciest
place I've ever had lunch in my life. Really? I
almost didn't make it in the door. I almost got
turned away at the door. The dress code, all the stuff.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
No sneakers allowed?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Oh, and other things. I went on their website so
I could give you their official attire standards that they
have posted.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Did you even know they had an attire standard?
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I didn't, but once my wife started getting kind of
dressed up in the bathroom, I was like, Oh, this
is one of those kind of lunches.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Goodness.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Got it. Let me get the collared one more wind
shirt standby. This is called the Honor Bar. This restaurant
I went to yesterday in Del Mar, it's new. My
wife picked it out and my wife and I and
my daughter Savannah had the three of us lunch. And
it's right down there in the little village of Del Mar.
It's literally took over for the bullies that was there forever.
They even had the old bullies menu on the wall
(01:21):
that had like $ 1. 50 steaks, you know, stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
It was still there even after the renovation?
Speaker 1 (01:25):
They framed it like it's like one piece of the
old restaurant still here.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
That's weird.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
That's like putting a picture of your ex at the
front door.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
It's so interesting, right?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
That's weird. But okay.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
I mean. I want to start by saying about this place,
the Honor Bar, the food we had is probably the
best meal I've had in a very long time. Maybe
since the.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Last night in Vegas. That's a big statement.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
And I just had like a macadamia nut crusted sushi roll.
Excuse me. A couple of random things. Not even that great,
but it was like really good food. So check that
place out, but get ready for the... Rules and regs, Tati.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Okay, tell me, why were you almost turned away with
your collared One More Win t-shirt?
Speaker 1 (02:04):
I just was wearing sneakers, and they just don't want
gym clothes, sleeveless shirts, tank tops, athletic shorts, sweatpants, sports bras,
no sort of plastic rubber, foam slides, or flip-flops, sportswear.
You're right next to the beach. It's such a hard ask.
Excessively revealing clothing such as intimate wear or lingerie.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
They don't want to see skin. They don't want to
see skin. Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
And this is San Diego, so that's going to be interesting.
But at least they opened at this time of year,
which means they'll be busy. It was absolutely packed.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I'm trying to find the spot on their website because
my wife and I were laughing at it yesterday. They
had so conveniently written how they don't want you to
bring your kids. Oh, here we go. Our restaurants are
generally not the best environment for young children. We welcome families,
but we ask parents to keep children at the table
and calm.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Calm, vocal.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
They would like a subdued version of those children of yours.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Calm, vocal infants or youngsters outside of the dining room,
if you could. We do not offer child seating, nor
do we allow strollers in the dining room. I love it.
I kind of love it, though.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I think we talked about this, right?
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Restaurants who don't want kids there and how people support that.
As someone whose children are all grown, I mean, yeah,
I get it.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
I get it now.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
It also makes me kind of want to go a
little bit. Just that note of knowing... You can know
an atmosphere of a place by saying there's no kids allowed.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yeah, it's an adults only vibe.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Got it. That place is called Honor Bar. We tried
it out yesterday. It was really, really, really delicious. But
you better have a good outfit in the car.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Goodness.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
It looks like if you're not ready for it. By
the way, it looks like there's other locations. This isn't
their only location.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Oh, didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
It looks like they have one in Beverly Hills, Dallas, Montecito.
As they should. Montecito.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
It's Star 94.1. Jesse and Tati in the morning. Coming up,
you're going to have a chance to win those SeaWorld
Spooktacular tickets. But right now, once I find my thing,
once I find my sounder.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Are you going to help us sleep at night?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I'm going to help you sleep at night and give
you a, oh, no, it's on a different page, guys.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Oh, that's okay.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Hold on.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Listen, Jessie's Girls needs readers.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
So do you. All right, listen to this, guys. Thanks,
Tati for searching. You know I wish that I had
Jessie's Hack. It's called BDJ. Okay. Brain Dump Journaling.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I do this, too, because sometimes, especially you and I,
we wake up so early and we're like the minute
the sun is up, we're pretty much working. And so
sometimes you have to get your mind around some things
you're going to have to do the minute you get
out of your bed. So I go to bed. I
get in my notes on my phone. If there's a
bunch of things I'm freaking out about, I just make
sure I write them all in there so I don't
like dream about them, so I don't wake up at
2 a.m. And worry about them.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Oh, I love dreams. I'll still dream no matter what.
And sometimes I'll still worry.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
But the download or like the, you know, of the
day is it helps.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
It definitely helps.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
And some people use journaling at night for a million
different ways. Like people use it in all different functions
in their life. This one is specifically if you find
yourself waking up in the middle of night because you're
stressing about all your to do list. Sometimes it's because
your to-do list is floating in your head.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
And it's not on paper.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Try the BDJ, which is, you said, brain dump journal.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, try that before you go to bed and then
wake up in the morning. Now you've got your to-do
list for the day and you can get it rocking.
That's today's Jesse's Hack brought to you by Bill Howe.
