Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is your twenty four to seven US update.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
The latest views this hour in just four minutes. Protests
are being held in major cities across the US today
following the shootings involving federal agents in Minneapolis and Portland, Oregon.
The investigation is continuing into the death of the thirty
seven year old woman who was shot by an ICE
agent in Minneapolis Wednesday, as Maggie Vespa reports that more

(00:26):
information is being released about the agent who was involved.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Now identified as Jonathan Ross, DHS telling NBC News Ross
was seriously injured in a traffic stop here six months
ago when he tried to arrest an undocumented convicted sex
offender who dragged Ross fifty yards with his car.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Court document show Ross needed thirty three stitches to close
his wounds. The Department of Homeland Security says US citizen
Renee Good was shot when she tried to run over
the agent, but local officials dispute that, saying it appears
Good was trying to flee the scene, and new vide
d the over released Friday shows Renee Good telling the
agent quote, I'm not mad at you when confronted by

(01:05):
the officer. The agent can then be heard telling Good
to get out of the vehicle. Instead, she attempts to
drive around the officer, bumping into him. Then the sound
of gunshots are heard. The White House claims the video
is evidence that the ICE agent properly defended himself. President
Trump met with the US oil executives at the White
House Friday to discuss rebuilding Venezuela's oil infrastructure. Venezuela said

(01:28):
the country has been working with the US and a
decision will be made soon on which oil companies will
take part in the project. The US military recently rated
Venezuela and captured its President Trump said getting drilling back
underway in Venezuela will benefit both countries. Six people are
dead after a gunman open fire in Mississippi last night.

(01:48):
The Clay County Sheriff's office says the shooting happened in
West Point, near the Alabama border, and the suspect is
in custody. The shooting involved three different locations. The motive
remains unclear, but Clay County Sheriff Atty Scott confirmed some
of the six victims were related to the shooter. I'm
Lisa Carton. California is losing one hundred and sixty million

(02:09):
dollars in federal funds for delaying the cancelation of seventeen
thousand commercial drivers' licenses for immigrants. Tammi Trehillo reports.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Last fall, California told the drivers they would lose their
licenses after a federal audit found over a quarter of
a small sample of California CDA licenses were unlawful. Some
were given after visas expired or to people who didn't qualify.
California delayed canceling the licenses until March after lawsuits from
immigrant groups. Federal officials say the state was supposed to
cancel the licenses by this week and never agreed to

(02:39):
any delay.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Drivers around New York City will now have to avoid
running red lights at even more intersections. Levon Putney has more.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
City transportation crews have started putting up red light cameras
at fifty new intersections per week over the next five weeks,
and by the end of the year will have installed
them at six hundred new intersections in all five boroughs.
The state legislature gave them city the green light to
have the red light cameras add up to six hundred intersections,
up from the maximum of one hundred and fifty that
had been allowed under state law.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
A new study says people who stopped taking weight loss
injections are likely to regain their weight within two years.
Jim Forbes has more.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
New research published by the British Medical Journal looked at
the weight loss medication sold under the brand names Ozimpic Withgovi,
Montererro and zep bound. It found those who take the
drugs often start regaining weight within a month after stopping
the medication, and that all of the user's weight loss
will likely be regained within two years. The research also

(03:36):
showed that those who stopped taking weight loss injections are
likely to regain weight four times faster than those who
regained after quitting diet and exercise.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
The eighty third annual Golden Globes will be handed out
tomorrow night in Beverly Hills. Big names are nominated this year,
including Seth Rogan, Timothy Chalomey, Amanda Sifried, Leonardo DiCaprio, and
Ariana Grande. The awards will be on CBS at a
