latest use this hour. In just four minutes, hundreds of
anti ice protesters are gathering once again in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced that the city is
going on tactical alert, meaning officers can be kept on

(00:21):
past their shift end time. Meantime, the top cop in
Los Angeles says the Marines are not communicating with his department.
While about seven hundred Marines are heading to the city,
LA Police Chief Jim McDonald says he's not getting a
formal notification. He says the lack of coordination is concerning Meantime.
Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish address New

York City Monday evening, following large protests both in the
city and elsewhere around the country. Mayor Adams says what's
happening in Los Angeles will not happen in New York.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
The escalation of protests in Los Angeles over the last
couple of days is unacceptable, would not be tolerant if
attempted in our city.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Commissioner Tish goes on to say that while they encourage
peaceful protests, the NYPD will have no tolerance for violence
or the blocking of public spaces. Thousands of NIH scientists
are demanding a reversal to drastic changes made at the agency.
Lisa Taylor has the story.

More than two thousand staffers issued a letter addressed to
their director titled the Bethesda Declaration and said we dissent
to administration policies that undermine the NIH mission, waste public resources,
and harm the health of Americans and people across the globe.
The agency's director responded to the letter by saying changes
have been made in effort to remove ideological influence from science,

and he added as NIH priorities evolve, so must our
staffing to stay mission focused and responsibly manage taxpayer dollars.

Only Staylor, US trade officials are getting together with their
Chinese counterparts in London. The talks are aimed at resolving
an ongoing trade dispute between the world's two largest economies.
I'm Brian shook Measles. Vaccination rates for children are falling
after the COVID pandemic. Tammy Triheo has more.

Researchers from John Hopkins University access data from over two
thousand counties across thirty three states from between twenty nineteen
and twenty twenty four. The study found seventy eight percent
of the counties reported a decrease in vaccination rates over
that period, and the average vaccination rate fell from approximately
ninety three percent pre pandemic to just over ninety one
percent post pandemic. Research showed only four states California, Connecticut, Maine,

and New York at an increase in county level measles

An average wage isn't enough to live comfortably in the US.
According to financial tech company smart Asset, the median wage
is at about sixty two thousand dollars a year, but
you need nearly eighty one thousand dollars to live comfortably
in West Virginia, the most affordable state in the study.
Living comfortably in this case is defined as spending half

year income on essentials like food and rent, twenty percent
towards savings and paying off debt, and the other thirty
percent for whatever you want. The Boss performed with a

Bobby Bruce Springsteen brought out a hometown legend at his
show in Liverpool over the weekend. The Boss was joined
by Sir Paul McCartney on stage during his encore at
the city's Anfield Stadium. The two hugged on stage and
belted out a version of the Beatles hit Cat Bobby Love.
It was McCartney's first performance in his hometown since twenty eighteen.
