The government shutdown will persist through at least Monday, that's
when the Senate convenes next. There continues to be no
clear end in sight, as millions of low income Americans
will soon feel the pain of the shutdown. The food
stamps benefit, known as SNAP, expires Saturday for roughly forty
two million people in the US. Vice President Jade Van
says air travel too is worsening.

But every single person I talk to to a word
they are worried that the delays are going to reach
a point where it makes it very, very hard for
the American people to fly.

Tomorrow, day thirty one of the shutdown, Jed Blue says
several passengers and crew members were injured tonight when a
Newark bound flight from can Kun experienced a sudden drop
in altitude. The airbus three to twenty was diverted to
Tampa International Airport, where it landed safely around two o'clock
this afternoon Eastern time. Some of the in were taken

to a hospital, but it's unknown exactly how badly they
were hurt. The FAA says the drop in altitude was
due to a flight control issue. Jet Blue has taken
the aircraft out of service for inspection. Hurricane Melissa now
heading toward Bermuda. The storm will pass Bermuda tonight after
causing devastation in the Caribbean earlier this week, at least

thirty people were killed, with a majority of those deaths
coming from floods in Haiti. Heran experts say Melissa one
of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in recorded history. The storm
is approaching Bermuda packing wins of one hundred five miles
per hour, making it a Category two storm. The Pentagon
is putting together reaction forces made up of National Guard troops.
That's according to multiple reports, thousands of specialized personnel have

been ordered to complete civil unrest mission training. The Department
of Wars Quick Reaction Force must be fully trained, equipped
with riot control gear, and be ready to deploy by
the first of the year. Separately, an already existing National
Guard Reaction Force is projected to finish civil unrest training
and will be fully operational by April first. I'm jim Roup.

iHeartMedia has been named the exclusive audio partner for next
year's Winter Olympics by NBC Universal.

The coverage will include play by play audio channels, as
well as the original iHeart podcast Two Guys, Five Rings
with Bowen Yang and Matt Rodgers. The twenty twenty six
Games will be held in Milan and Courtina, dom Pezo, Italy,
with the opening ceremony taking place February sixth. The Winter
Games will see the return of NHL players in the

We turned the clock back this weekend to return to
standard time, and efforts to fast track a bill seeking
to end daylight saving time altogether is stalled in Congress.
Two Florida Republican lawmakers introduced the Sunshine Protection Act earlier
this year. It would put the power in the hands
of states to determine the fate of the biannual changing
of the clocks. Several states are already considering legislation to

stop changing the clocks, but efforts are split between permanent
daylight saving time in permanent standard time. A non partisan
report says the average out of pocket costs for Obamacare
premiums will more than double if Congress allows the tax
credit to expire.

The new report from the Center on Budget and Policy
Priorities found that annual premium payments could be one thousand
dollars on average if the Affordable Care Act tax credits
are not extended. The report predicts dramatic premium spikes in Tennessee,
West Virginia, and Wyoming, as well as spikes for older individuals.
Open enrollment for the ACA marketplace begins Saturday and it's

esports competition. Radu Gassapu recently won the Geoguesser World Championship
