The government's shutdown will continue at least until Monday. Mark
Mayfield with more.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
The Senator journed on Thursday and won't meet again until
after the weekend. There continues to be no clear end
in sight, as millions of low income Americans will soon
feel the pain of the shutdown. The food stamp benefit,
known as SNAP, is set to expire on Saturday for
roughly forty two million people in the US. Democrats say
the Trump administration can use contingency funds to continue the benefits,

but the USDA says the move is not allowed by law.
Republicans insist Democrats approve the House plan to temporarily reopen
the government before there's any negotiations on healthcare. I'm Mark Mayfield.

Open Enrollment for Obamacare starts tomorrow, and new premiums are
now posted on healthcare dot gov. Plans are expected to
rise an average of twenty six percent, but a KFF
analysis warrns costs could jump one hundred and fourteen percent
if federal tax credits expire. Most in rollees can still

find coverage with higher deductibles for fifty dollars a month
or less, and open enrollment continues through January fifteenth. After
President Trump announced this week that the US would resume
testing nuclear weapons because other countries are doing it, Gremlin
spokesperson Dmitri Peskov says Moscow is ready to follow suit.
Insisted recent tests of nuclear powered drones and nuclear capable

missiles didn't involve any detonations and couldn't be viewed as
nuclear testing. The Trump administration is offering to help Caribbean

Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the administration is in
close contact with governments in the region, with rescue and
response teams at the ready, along with critical life saving supplies.
He specifically mentioned Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and Haiti. Rubio,
whose parents immigrated to the US from Cuba, said storm
relief to that island should be coordinated through non governmental organizations.

involved shooting in southern California in a week Temmi Tracheo
with more.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
The shooting happened Thursday morning in Ontario. Officials say they
tried conducting a traffic stop on Vineyard Avenue when the
driver reversed his vehicle directly at ICE agents. The driver
reportedly was not the target for ICE agents at the time,
but fearing for the safety, the agents opened fire. The
Ontario Police Departments as it responded to a request for
emergency assistance from DHS officers, but were not involved in

the shooting. Recently, ICE officers fired at a man in
South Los Angeles demand in an agent were hurt, but
both are expected to recover.

iHeartMedia has been named the exclusive audio partner for next
year's Winter Olympics by NBC Universal. More from Matt Mattinson.

The coverage will include play by play audio channels, as
well as the original iHeart podcast, Two Guys, Five Rings
