A federal judge may step in and force the federal
government to fund a food assistance program while the government
remains shut A Massachusetts judge heard a lawsuit Thursday brought
by twenty five Democratic led states who want the Trump
administration to partially fund the SNAP program, used by forty
two million low income Americans. It's set to expire on

Saturday unless the government reopens. A ruling is expected later today.
President Trump is calling on Republicans to eliminate the Senate
filibuster that's allowing the government shutdown to continue. Details from

The philipbuster rule requires at least sixty Senators to vote
in favor of a bill for it to pass, allowing
for a minority vote to block the bill. On Thursday,
Trump returned from his trip to Asia and posted on
social media, then now is the time for the Republicans
to play their Trump card and to use what he
called the nuclear option. Get rid of the filibuster, and
get rid of it now. Many Republicans are against removing

Russia says it will follow America's lead and resume testing
of nuclear weapons. Rory O'Neil with that story.

A Kremlin spokesperson said if another country resumed nuclear testing,
Russia would likely do the same, adding that recent tests
of nuclear power drones and nuclear capable missiles didn't involve
any detonations and couldn't be viewed as nuclear testing. The
most recent known nuclear weapons tests were carried up by
North Korea in twenty seventeen. Russia's last confirmed nuclear test

For US are being made in connection to the fatal
overdose of actor Robert de Niro's grandson. Five people are
reportedly facing drug charges over the July twenty twenty three
death of nineteen year old Leandro Anthony de Niro Rodriguez
in Manhattan. New York City medical examiner said several drugs
were found in his system, including fentanyl, cocaine, and ketamine.

Researchers studied more than eighteen thousand berths in Massachusetts during
the early days of the COVID nineteen epidemic, before vaccines
were available. The study, published in the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology,

women who contracted coronavirus, one hundred and forty gave birth
to children diagnosed with autism, spectrum disorders, or other neurodevelopmental
