Speaker 2 (00:05):
In just four minutes, lawmakers in Indiana have approved new
congressional maps meant to favor Republicans. The map passed and
the Indiana House Friday. It's meant to help give Republicans
two additional seats in the US Congress, though some Republicans
in the Indiana Senate say there's not enough support for

the new map. President Trump's been pushing Indiana lawmakers to
redraw the maps to widen the party's majority in Washington.
Next week, Democrats in Congress will get the vote they
were promised on Affordable Care Act tax credits. We get
more from Jim Roup.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
It was the volatile issue while the government shut down
that ended only after Senate Majority Leader John Thune promised
a group of Democrats will vote on the issue. Republicans
admit they're struggling to craft a legislation that would get
enough votes to fix the core issue of rising costs. Meanwhile,
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will propose extending ACA subsidies
for three years, with a vote in the Senate expected Thursday.

It's unlikely Schumer's proposal will get enough for publican support.
But it will be interesting as the Obama subsidies are
due to expire at the end of this year and
the Trump administration is looking to head off a spike

Two people who survived a US attack on an alleged
drug boat in the Caribbean were reportedly seen waving before
being killed in a second strike. Video of the air
strike September second shows two survivors of the attack on
top of the overturned boat, waving overhead. Reports say it's
not clear if the survivors were calling for help or

attempting to surrender. The airstrike the first of over twenty
by the Trump administration on alleged drug boats. More than
eighty people have been killed in the strikes. An international
soccer organization is giving President Trump a peace award. Trump
accepted the FIFA Peace Prize Friday during the twenty twenty
six World Cup draw at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

FIFA says the inaugural award is for except optional and
extraordinary actions for peace. They say have united people across
the world. I'm Scott Carr. The US Supreme Court is
allowing Texas to use a new congressional district map that
favors Republicans in next year's midterm elections, pausing a lower
court ruling that said the map was unlawful because Republican

lawmakers explicitly considered race when drawing new districts. Former Texas
Democratic Representative Colin Already says it's not over.

This ruling ends the legal challenge in the selection cycle,
but if the final word and the final outcome is going
to be dependent on Texans and we have to stand
up and say we see what you're doing.

The chair of the Democratic Party in Texas, Kendall Scudder,

The map was redrawn in hopes of giving Republicans up
to five more seats in the US House. Reports say
several European leaders are concerned that Trump administration is set
to allow Russia to take an unprecedented amount of land
away from Ukraine. Ross Cullen has the latest.

The details of a phone call that took place on
Monday between leaders including French President Emmanu Macron, the German
Chancellor Friedrich Ness, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutterer, and the
Ukrainian President Volonomier Zelenski were published by the German magazine Dershpiegel.

While the President of Finland urged against trusting the White
House to influence peace negotiations.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
According to the publication, Emmanual Macron said quote, there is
a possibility that the US will betray Ukraine on the
issue of territory without clarity on security guarantees. Macron apparently
added that there was a great danger for President Zelenski.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Another lobe of freezing Arctic airs expected to push southward
into the US today. Forecasters say that i'll plunge the
northern Plain States and upper Midwest into a deep freeze.
Below freezing temperatures are expected as far south as Louisville.
Forecaster say the cold will reach as far as Atlanta
and Warrens Marius could get even colder on Sunday and Monday.
