Police in Providence say they have a person of interest
in custody and connection with Saturday's mass shooting at Brown
University that killed two people and injured nine. Officials told
NBC News they're looking into the twenty four year old's
mental health history, as well as the connection to Brown University.
Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez set out a news conference
today that the investigation is ongoing. Australian police say sixteen

people were killed and forty others injured in today's terror
attack in Sydney, New South Wales. Police revised the death
toll after gunman opened fire on a crowd celebrating the
Jewish festival of Hanukkah at a popular beach. Iowa Governor
Kim Reynolds and Iowa National Guard Major General Stephen Osborne
held a joint news conference following the ISIS ambush attack

in Syria that killed two Iowa soldiers and left three
others wounded.

Governor Reynolds I had the opportunity to reach out to
the family these of the two soldiers who were killed,
and as you can imagine, they're devastated. I asked that
all Iowans stand united and supporting them and lifting them
up in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.

One of the victims is Nate Toward, son of the
chief of Police of the Mesquakee Nation Police. Another soldier
from Iowa also died, as well as a civilian interpreter.
The FDA has approved an at home brain stimulation device
to treat depression. Here's Lisa Carton.

The CDC says depression rates in the US have risen
sixty percent in the last decade, affecting over twenty million adults.
The device, called Flow Neurosciences FL one hundred, delivers a
gentle electrical current a part of the brain that regulates mood,
and is designed for home use under remote supervision. It's
the first of its kind to be approved in the US.

The Los Angeles Superior Court jury awarded eighteen million dollars

knew for years its talent based products were dangerous. The
company's vice president of litigation said it plans to immediately
appeal this verdict. Court filing say Jay and Jay is
facing lawsuits from over sixty seven thousand plaintiffs who claim
they were diagnosed with cancer after using its baby powder
and other talk products. The company has said its products

are safe and do not contain asbestos and do not
cause cancer. Nobody won the billion dollar powerball. Jim Forbes

Night's powerball drawing was worth a billion dollars, making it
the seventh largest in lottery game's history. The Powerball website says, however,
that nobody matched all SAIS numbers and Saturday's drawing, so
the jackpot will roll over to Monday's drawing, when it
will be worth one point one billion dollars but don't
throw your ticket out just yet. There were seven tickets

be worth up to two million dollars each.
