Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's yeah. Yeah, and Dan started Bridges.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Bridges wanted to smoke though, but freezing right down, freeze
right now.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
No no no, no go back.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Go back, go back, go back, freeze it, go back
right down right there. You had you had opportunity to
get that. I don't know if that stumble was on purpose,
because you you hey, you hey, it was number an
opportunity right there, big big boy, squat up.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
You could have got bunker right there.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Welcome back to another episode of Unplugged. I got my
two favorite co hosts in the building today, Steven Ulysses
Jesse Jackson. That mad, Max ain't mad no more? Whataa fellas?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
My brother?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
What I like that? Max not mad no more?
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, Man, were coming up on a year. See before
before we get into a jack you had your album
release party this past weekend in Houston.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
How that go? Thank you man, I appreciate it. Man.
Shout out to everybody in Houston. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
My hometown is like an hour, hour and fifteen away
from Houston. Man, Houston really showed up.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
My my hometown is just one of them places where
you know, it's the blind leading the blind, everybody putting
each other down. But a lot of a lot of
the people I grew up with, you know what I'm
saying that that's been really proud of me over over
over the course of my life.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
They was there, So the right people was there.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Houston showed up, we had we had a great turnout,
and the album is doing real good right now. I
got a lot of stuff, A lot of people asked
me to do stuff All Star Weekend and so it's
just been a blessed man. And my my intention was
to do it because a lot of people on the album,
I'm fans of some of them with one of them
was my little brother friend who ended up doing twelve
years in jail just coming home. I wanted to give
(01:56):
them an opportunity and the avenue to be seen to
put their talent on displace.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
So it's definitely working. So mission accomplished.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
What's the experience been like getting back in the booth?
Obviously independent is a roche taken, but what was it
like really putting this project together this time?
Speaker 2 (02:08):
It was different because I ain't never really talking some
shit like this, you know what I'm saying. I've always
my last project was about George Floyd and doing when
I was in the league. You know, I had to
really keep it moderately. I couldn't say a lot of
things I wanted to say. So being having this space
that we that we've created in the media space and
being able to be freely spoken, you know, I'm able
to talk about a lot of the things in my life.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I talk a lot about the show, drop a lot
of stuff about all the smoking and stuff we're doing.
I talk about being successful and being what a lot
of people haven't thought, you know, keep believing in yourself.
And I talk a lot a lot about about experiences
and having people in your life and people don't belong
in your life and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
So it's just the space I'm in.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
And it was therapeutic for me, Matt, because it's a
lot of things of pain I have in from losing
my brother and stuff that I don't like talking to
people about, and I was able to get it out
through music.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
So I'm glad I was able to do it.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Give me your three favorite songs off the I know
that's tough to give me three of your favorites.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
No, that's not hard at all.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
My favorite right now is super Soiled Shout Out Ronnie
Cash and carry beat, my two brothers in San Antonio,
two young kids, man who really got talent. But they
sent me the song the day I was turning the album,
and man, I didn't even have a title track, and
it was just it just ended up being a great song,
so super solid.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I would go still Raining with Shaq.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
People have been trying to get Shack to remake this
song for years and he never wanted to do it.
So we finally can put it to bed. We both
killed it. Still Raining and I gotta go better days.
The song I did about my little brother and my
siblings preaching Eddie coke and a quiet money dot. That's dope, man,
congratulations appreciated, man, Thank you man, No doubt.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
So it's slow in the association, But last night something
jumped off. I'm sure you guys all saw it. A
good old school. Some punches were thrown. Two of the
hottest teams in the Eastern Conference. I was actually in Charlotte,
wasn't Max right dollar, Yes, Well let's get into this, man.
Let's who better to break down a fight than us. Three.
(04:09):
Let's take a look.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Yeah, that's that that right there, that right there, right there.
Foster went crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
He did, so bridges got involved. Well actual, let's look
at this first. That yeah, like good yeah, and d
started bridges. Bridges they want to.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Smoke though, but freezing right down? Freeze right now?
Speaker 2 (04:35):
No no no go back, go back, go back back,
freeze it go back right now right there you had
you had opportunity to get that.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I don't know if that stumbach was on purpose, because
you you hey, you.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Hey, it was number an opportunity right there, big big
boy squad up.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
You could have got balking right there?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
What was that?
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Yeah? It man looked like but he missed them, but
he really want to hit him though.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
That that that that that initial trip was an intention
when you saw big boy and it was just an opportunity,
and you wanted somebody.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
To grab you because you could have got the thing.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah yeah yeah, with somebody running at you, you know,
you got a squab watch we squab.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Should he should He had a chance to get that
door and he.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
But but that's what you're supposed to somebody around you
get your room and you squam.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
That's exactly what you.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Way out the way how you're drinking out a s.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
And then after we think it's all settled. We got
we got some more. We got some more smoke at
the top with bridges and and beef beef.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Stew so so he so he ran off the bench, right, Matt,
if you run off the bench, I thought, I thought.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
You're gonna do more.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
He's dead. But I fucked with Isaiah.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I like, yeah, he was ready for the ship. He's
always ready for the ship. I respect it.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Yeah, he build all that ship. He put that head locked.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And you gotta think you go get at least eight
to ten from running off the bench. You can look at.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Ball back there, looking at a little ball back there,
Little ball back there, look at the look at ball
back there running around with his head like.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
On swivel, hoping nobody don't hit him.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Hey, you said, hey, you know, you know what's funny, dog?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
This is crazy too.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Two days ago, I'm in Mastros having my Supersided app
released dinner, and their whole team walking up because they
playing the rockets. I've seen all of them. They all
came over there and hollered at me. Every that's one
of these fuckers. In his video Charlotte, the whole team man, Yeah,
old bridges, all of them came over there and spoke
to him dog and this is going that's.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
One of the victor Dad Rockets looking look at my guy, Isaiah.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
He want some problems.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
But but old boy Bridges was ready though too.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
While you get watch what is gonna get plugging the
mother fucking the head watch.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Let me see I saw that you you running somebody
for speed like that.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
You're supposed to you supposed to catch one. Yeah right,
running like that with your hair, oh yeah, face chin up,
yeah yeah yeah yeah, get fun making get up under that.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
But you also know there's always so many people grabbing
on you. You can never really swing ship off anymore.
Like this match your generation, there wasn't There was more
swinging and then grabbing this generation, and I even think
ours too, because we didn't really get it. Jack you
you was in the crowd swinging, but there was more
grabbing because I.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Think it's more in the game man, never been in
the game.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Yeah, yeah, I feel it just because I think the
consequences are so harsh these days. I mean they're not
playing about that. I mean I got two or three
games for pushing somebody. That's two or three game checks.
So after the altercation, uh, Isaiah Stewart said, what do
you expect me to send on the bench? Fuck? I'm drafted.
I was drafted to Detroit. What do you think I
was drafted Detroit for? So he's always ready for the ship.
(08:12):
So let's talk Isaiah Stewart. He's obviously Max, you're a
fan of it. He's always ready for the ship. He's
someone you definitely went on your side if you're going
to it. He's this will be his fourth altercation.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
The longest suspension he had so far has been three games, Uh,
for punching Drew Eubanks in pregame. He got two games
for the lebron ship and then one game for pushing
Thomas Bryant. So coming off the bench and they're gonna
say he was game pre game. Yeah, but they're gonna
(08:46):
you the word they used to use for me is
he escalated the situation because this ship was probably dead,
and then he escalated. So how many games do we
think that he's cut? So he's coming off the bench
and they're swinging involved. How many games you got? I
think he's gonna get.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Yeah, go, I'm gonna get more. Don't gonna get fifteen?
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Oh, that's a lot.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Yes, you gotta go more.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Max win when I was how many? How many Max get?
But you win? You win the stands though, Max a
good reason, good reason.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
You gotta understand you're right.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Jack, Matt.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
You know, coming off the bench.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
At the many heavy.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Okay heavy, and then come on, man, he's gonna get that.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
He's gonna get what you think? What do you think
he's gonna get more than Max.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I've been on I've been on the other side of
it where I got suspended way more than what I
You know, I had got thirty for going stand three
three almost three million dollars. So you know what I'm saying,
I'm I hope he get the least the less, the
least amount of money taken from him is possible because
we and let me tell you why, I Matt like
not only being on the side of being fine, but
(09:57):
we grew up in the era of when we from
five years old AAU teams to sixteen seventeen, you taught.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
If one fight, we all fight.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Ru rules don't change when you were in the NBA
because because you spend more time with these people than
you actually spend with your family. So these people are
actually your family. Doing seven eight months of the year.
So for for me, look, I look at it from
that side. Man, I put my career on the line
for people and my teammates a couple of times and
never regretted one time. So I don't think the fine
(10:29):
should be you know, I can see if he ran
in the stands like we did and punch somebody, but
it was a team fight and both teams were involved.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I don't think it should be that harsh, man, I
really don't.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
But you know, like I said, they put business of
basketball before the actual game and the gonna they gonnaknock
them over to him like coming off that bitch.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Yeah, yeah, I think I think to your point, Jack,
I mean that's the way. I mean, that's why I
got fined what I got fined. It was rarely a
situation with me. It was always standing up for a
teammate how you're supposed to do. So I agree on
that front. I think he's gonna get like six to eight.
I don't know no more than that. I don't think
no more than ten. But again, he's someone that you
always want on your side. You gotta have ready for
whatever whenever. Uh, there's a couple of people who didn't
(11:11):
Duncle Robinson just like he was disgusted out there. He's like, God, damn,
this crazy motherfucker added it again. I just got here.
I already know how crazy he is, so Duncle Robinson
didn't want no part of it. He was walking away
shaking his head. What are your guys? Just starts and
this should be interesting because again we just spoke on it.
But if your teammate is in it, I know we're
all jumping in, But what are your what are your
thoughts on the guys that are on the court that
(11:33):
just walk away or step back and watch.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Well, you know, Matt, I can speak on that.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
You know, if you look at the tape when we
was in the bra Austin Krazer was walking in his
crowd with his hands up on the court like he
wasn't trying to get involved with nothing. And for me personally,
the guys that got into it are the guys that
was raised like I was, so we all understood each other.
Austin wasn't raised like that, So you can't be mad
at him for not run out of the punching it.
You know what I'm saying. He wasn't raised like that
and even Scott Pollard, Scott Poller was it was it was.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
It was a tougher dude. He wasn't raised like that,
but he made sure he was straight. He was pushing,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
He wasn't throwing no, but so yeah, so so God
got different guys understand different things, you know what I'm saying.
It was raised different ways, so you can't hold them accountable.
But at the same time, you get into some ship,
don't expect me to run on whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
You max your thoughts.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Well, I just went on the show today.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
I talked earlier on Fan Duel on his show, and
they asked me about that, and I was like, like,
it's my nigga hit it right on the point.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
I mean, he said, I mean everybody ain't raised like that,
you know what I mean. Like, like you see little
ball Boy in that fight last night. You see what
he was doing.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
He was running make sure he didn't get.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Gino Hills wherever the he from. He that bought. I
don't want no problem, so I respect that that man
stay out the way, you know what I mean? When
I see it on the.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
Film after after I go through the altercation with him,
somebody and I see it, I'd be like, all right,
but the mother folks that I know who's supposed to
be there, then I know they're gonna be there. But yeah,
but I expect those people to do what they do
be call. Like Jack said, they didn't come from where
I came from.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
I agree to each his own that The only issue
I would have with someone who didn't get in it
is if you're one of the people that's always wolfing
and talking ship and doing other ship and then when
the ship actually you don't want no part of it. Yeah,
I agree with you, guys. I think to each his own,
you know, I mean to each his own. So absolutely,
hopefully hopefully no one loses too much money. Again, to
(13:35):
the basketball size, is either two of the hottest teams.
Obviously the Pistons are number one of the Eastern Conference.
Uh that broke Charlotte's what six game winning streak or eight?
Eight game seven or eight games?
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Let's talk.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Let's talk about them real quick because this is a young,
very talented team with Kankin Nipple, LaMelo ball and then uh,
Brandon what's what's the boy's name? Brandon Miller, who's who's
been on the scoring. All these guys are averaging right
about twenty guy, not the lefty man real Bridge excuse
(14:07):
me and Bridges, I mean they got they got what
four guys averaging right at nineteen or twenty points a
game if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Right.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
So this is finally a good young team. Jack, you
played for this organization, got them to the playoffs. What
are your thoughts on this young team? It looks like
the Charlotte Hornets kinda starting to turn the corner. As
you drink a Modello, Max, are you looking for any sponsorships? Max?
From Modelo?
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Modelo?
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Is that time? Modelo? Is that time?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Come on, man, Max at.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Dylan call reach out to modell o'della every.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Day time after live, I'll be having a Modellah.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I need you to get the deal done.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Deal and Max and a lot of a lot of people,
A lot of people do the deals with Modelo and
take the beer, but you actually drink them every day.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Bro, what my nigga?
Speaker 1 (14:53):
He know this?
Speaker 4 (14:54):
And Matt you know.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
That's what Jack? Jack?
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Jack Jack, that's my orange juice.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Ja. We gotta get you at you niggas, that's his
orange juice. He stupid Jack? What about your your chapstick.
I know you got one of them, big old Karme.
Don't don't you need one of them uh what they called,
uh Cocoa butter deals.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Yeah, Elmer's elm Man. You know a long time many
And look I already got my slogan.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Mac came up with my slogan a long time and
it's how the commercial gonna go.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Licked and bitches, So you're gonna have to lick them. Hey,
Maxie used to have the spray on too, used to
have the spray on Coco butter to get them ships
from a distance. But anyway, back to the Hornets, I'm
gonna start with you, Max, and you're out there in Charlotte.
Thoughts on this young team starting to turn the corner.
(15:52):
It looks like, oh man, I like it.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
Man.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
They're confident.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
I mean, I mean, it's a fun team to watch.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
They're in every game and I mean I mean so
and then I like, I love ball what he's doing.
I mean, he's running the team. I was getting everybody involved.
He's involved and shit, And like I said, Brandon Miller,
we got to talk about Carandon Miller's got Brandon Miller,
like I think, like eight twenty point games in a row. So,
(16:19):
I mean, that's big over there. And that's my young kid.
I love Brandon Brandon. Shatter Brandon Brandon.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Yeah, Chapter Brandon. Then we got mouth. I mean we
got like like you we already talked about it. We
got like four guys averaging like seventeen eighteen nineteen.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I think it's nineteen, Yeah, nineteen.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
That's four guys averaging eighteen.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Just looking up four.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Guys average nineteen eighteen eighteen Bridges, Ball and Miller. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
See, and that's that's that's hard to do. That's hard
to fit every night, you know what I mean, you
got four motherfuckers doing that. Man, Come on, man, you
know one motherfucker might be off of these other three
motherfucker from get there.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
So that's hard, you know what they say to me,
Like even like Mats said me playing there, I just
transferred this to not only the Charlotte team when I
was able to Golden state the reason why they having
it swing because you see a team that's finally coming together,
that's starting to play for each other. It ain't one
player trying to get his Even on defense, you see
they making blocks, they're making plays, they're helping each other,
(17:17):
like they're going into that shift where they're not they
all coming into their own as professionals, but they starting
to understand the team aspect of it as a professional players.
So they starting to play for each other. And you
see all the extra plays, the stills they make in
the alley hoops, like they're having fun playing with each
other and for each other. And that's when the shift
we had that ship when we went to Detroit. After
we beat Detroit, we realized, like that hold up beating
(17:39):
Jry's like, man, we might have something here, and we
all sit in the locker room like, hold up, bro,
we just had fun. The way we played. We can
do the shit to everybody, you know what I'm saying.
So when that shit clicked like that in the locker room,
not with no coaches. I'm talking about with just the
players like it did with us. I see that same
shit with Charlotte.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I think too, when everybody sacrificed a little bit for
the greater good. Obviously, there's some guys that in Brandon
Miller and Lamello Caro probably average high twenties if they
wanted to, but to be able to take a few
less shots and to move the ball around. So you
have now you have four options, and you never know
again where it's coming from. It's hard. You can game
plan for one or two guys, but you can't game
plan for four guys that are basically afaging twenty points. Man.
(18:14):
So I mean, I'm excited for this organization and this
young group of guys, and hopefully they'll be able to
turn the corner and start making some noise in the
playoffs in the next few years. Moving on, All Star
Breaker is approaching Outside of basketball, Jack, I know you
had a few All Star appearances you should have made,
but because of the politics, you didn't. Max. Same thing.
(18:35):
What did you guys used to do on All Star Break? Me?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I used to I ain't gonna lie. This is is good, Grazy.
You asked me that people always ask me about I.
Me and George Foy usually got close. That's what I
used to do every every All Star Break and every summer.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Max what old Max used to do back in the day,
Old Max I was deafer.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
I'll go over the Amsterdam, Yeah, okay, burn it.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Down for a couple days. I go to the Red
like Ditking, get freaky, Yeah, man. Yeah, it depends, It depends.
It depended on if I was a family man or not.
If I did not take a little thing to get
(19:15):
away on the beach and smoke the weed somewhere, if
I was with the family trip somewhere and burn something.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
But yeah, definitely I wouldn't going All Star Weekend. That's
the goddamn my rookie I went because I made the
Rookie All Star Team.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Murky year after that, I ain't going.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
A chance, not a chance. That's stupid. But I mean
that brings me to my next point, All Star Weekend,
like what is it? What's it become? And again we're
not old heads trying to talk down, but it just
I remember, even though we didn't make All Star games,
we would watch some of the events or watch the
game because they really used to compete and they really
(19:51):
used to be out there dunking and what can we
do or what can the league do? I mean, there's
so many if there's so many different gimmicks now, and
I understand because they want these guys to be competitive,
but there's two this year, there's two American teams and
then one World team. And they played quarters and it's
around Robin and then you got in. And this is
no hate, but they got a bunch of young boys
(20:12):
in the dunk contest, you know, the three point contest
is always solid. And then they got the skills challenged.
This used to be the highlight of the weekend. People
could wait for All Stars Saturday night and then Sunday
they used to go at it. There's a lot of
edits right now. We just actually posted one of Michael
Jordan's last game when Vince Carter gave up his spot
to him. But these games were competitive. They might have
(20:33):
bullshit in the first half, but that second half, these
dudes were going at it. And I think, obviously we
don't need to point any fingers on where we lost
that at Obviously, I think after Kobe, the shit has
kind of just gone downhill because he used to make
these motherfuckers play hard. So is there anything that the
league can do? Is it the league? Is it more
these next generation, the young stars to change the atmosphere.
What do you guys feel like can be done Jack
(20:54):
to bring the competitiveness and the excitement back to All
Star Weekend.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
It's definitely the players. I mean, I go even further,
like a guy like Shah Guilders like say, like if
All Star was something to compete and he had to,
he would he had a chance to go there and
really compete and show his game. This little injury he
would he was dealing with, He wouldn't he wouldn't you,
he wouldn't misskip Allstar because of his injury. He would
(21:19):
play and but instead All Star has went down. He
woul rather just say I'm injured and go spend time
with my family to get away from all this ship
and that and that.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
That That's another example of what Allstar has become.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
When you when when even your star players don't want
to be there, you know what I'm saying, because because
it makes no sense to go out there because now
ten times as basketball basketball players, we know when you
go out there half assed, that's.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
What somebody get, you know what I'm saying. And they
all understand that, and they know they hear everything we
hear from the fans. You know what I'm saying. They
want to see they want to see competition.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
And it's still guys like Shi like Anthony Elwis that
want to go out there and actually play hard, you
know what I'm saying. But as a total, the game
hasn't been that. So guys are trying to save They
play us for the second half of the season. All
kind of ship like that, man, so uh to the
players bring their integrity back into the game. The NBA
can't do ship.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Max Well, ship the man just said that. Man, I
can't say it no better than what ship? Thank you Jack,
Damn I was saying, Damn this my fucker read in
my mind. I believe with that ship, Matt, he said it.
I'm just what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
What he said, what he said.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
But Matt, but real for real though, these motherfuckers, man,
I mean, I get it, man, I mean, these kids
ain't competing no more at.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
The All Star game.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Man, it's not even fun to watch.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
I mean, this ship you see going on, that's like
it's like the integrity of the game, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
And you know what we like.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
We we we built this platform for them to be
able to do it and play on this I mean,
and doing what they're doing. But these kids a disrespectful
nowadays though. Man, they really don't.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
It makes what it means, what it means, what it
means to be an All Star is probably different to
this generation, you know.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Because they're getting paid All Star money if they don't
make it.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Like the three of us, which one of us motherfuckers
wouldn't want to be an All Star, we all, all
three of us motherfuckers want to go.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
I'm still ma I was gonna go after ask when
I was out there. I'm gonna be at you like
mad Mac, like I'm playing with the rockets. I'm found
hard motherfucker.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
I was gonna go at you. But so but I'm
just saying, man, it's different now.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Man, But these kids make so much money, and man's
the integrity of the game is pretty much.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
And one on one is something that can possibly be
brought to that. If one on one was brought to
the All Star Game, what would it replace the skills Challenge,
the dunk contest, of the three point shootout skill, the
skills challenge?
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Get what Who're gonna who actually gonna have enough pride
and get that to be willing to get embarrassed one
to one in front of the world. You know what
I'm saying, Like, it's very for people that that that
got the boss will go out there and do that
and it ain't gonna be nobody like Luca because he
can't go out nobody. You know what I'm saying, Like, like,
who is it gonna be like Anthony Edwoods and guys.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Like to be surprised. Yeah, it would be something you
wouldn't expect. I mean maybe Edwards because he plays both sides.
But I think if we had this one on one
contest whenby could be somebody you would probably surprise you
who would win, because like I said, it's both there's
you ain't gotta fit into know game plan. You gotta
go out there and guard both sides of the ball.
So that would be interesting. So you guys would say
(24:35):
to take the skills challenge away and add the one
on one contest.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Versus that skills ship nasty anyway.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Yeah, so we got we got one of our former
teammates jack his son Jace Richardson will be in the
Dunk Contest this year, Jackson Hayes from the Laker, Carter
Bryant who's been playing well for the Spurs, and then
he shot Johnson. So yeah, baby Julio, I like Carter
Bryant too, But yeah, we'll see how this this goes.
(25:04):
You know, they had Max McClung aus that was his
name that was that had won the last two or three.
If I'm not mistaken, it's Carter Brian, the kid from
San Antonio. Yeah, the young boy.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I coached him at the Ivison Game. He can fly.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
He's a good kid too. He played in the Paul
George Shout Out Paul George and Jas Richardson played for
Paul George Elite, So we got some Paul George Elite guys.
Next debate, The Morris Brothers bought it up on their
new podcast Shout Out the Morris Twins. Cooper Flag could
be the best white American player ever, thoughts.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
Well, who's white America?
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Who ya?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
They don't remember Larry Bird.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I'm just saying who in the category.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
I just want to talk about.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
How we're not talking about over the water boys. I
would say right now, the greatest white player of all
time is Larry Bird. And I don't think it's it's
even yeah, like, and.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
The Cooper is nowhere close to that time.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
He's doing well, but they ain't got damn Bird.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
He's rooking.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
He is a Rookie of the Year and all that,
and he's the best players the Mavericks have and they
can't let him go. I give him all that he's sealing.
It is sealing his under I mean what I'm saying,
Scott's the ruth. I mean, Scott's the limit for excuse me,
God's limit. But at the same time, yeah, whatever, Scot.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
You know what I mean? That was classic, by the way,
said they's the roof corrected myself, though, I think you're right.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
But Larry Bird, Larry Bird different, he can be.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
He has the biggest chance of being the greatest white
player to ever play basketball. Literally, I'm saying it today.
Like watching him today, he does. You can't tell me wrong.
If I'm sitting here watching his mother, I'm watching him
do ship. But I've watched great players do right now
at eighteen, the movement, the physicality, bringing the ball up,
(26:59):
the confidence like what other white players was really that good.
It's none that's better, that's going to be better than
this kid, like none they all None of them can wiggle,
none of them can play the one can dribble, can
score the ball, play defense for six nine.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
You know what I'm saying that.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
You know you say, that's my nephew, that's my little
that's my little brothers, and not with the gotta go
back and watch it.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
They gotta go watch them back, watching live very ship.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Now, Hey, and so until Cooper walk out on the
court and look at you, niggas, look at it a
courtual of black people and say, you know what, No, no,
not even that, Max, I'm still hey until he walked,
until Cooper walk on the court, until nine other niggas
that I'm gonna shoot with my left hand and get tharted.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
I don't want to different, I don't want.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
To hear ship. Just remember Larry Bird's rookie year. He
was fourth in the VP bod, he was an All Star,
he was Rookie the Year and first team All NBA.
But let's also keep in mind that Barry had four
years of college, so Larry jumped in the league at
twenty two years old. So let's remember Cooper was only eighteen.
I think he's nineteen now, so I definitely think there
(28:14):
is a chance. I think he's a long way away
from it, But I love I think at the end
of the day, you gotta admit Cooper flagg as every
day they said he was gonna be.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
In more everything.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
We I agree.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
I agree, h Jason Tatum in your guys, opinion. Boston
is what third in the East or fourth, third in
the Eastern Conference. I think they're probably the surprise team
considering all things that all the people they lost, and
they're losing their best player, you know, shout out to
Jayvin Brown and and and what's the little port white
point guard's name. I like, he's tough, tradon prints is tough,
(28:44):
tough time. And then and then the boy that finally
cut his hair. Yeah, White, that team's done.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
That's what you can say about him.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
But he had to let his ship go. Thank goodness,
he let that shit go.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Cause that's how about it? How about how about Reggie
compared Caitlyn to.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Pritchard. Well, I think everyone thought he was gonna stay
Steph Steph Curry. But that I mean, Jack, Is that
that bad?
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Though?
Speaker 1 (29:09):
If you think about it, Nah.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Ain't no man, Nah paint Pritcher doing his thing, That's right.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
It's just if you see her face, she was she
was expecting Steph Curry, somebody like that's the last person.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
She was thinking, peint princher, nigga. She looking like who
is that?
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Oh? So I never saw this. She was sitting right
next to him much Buch I didn't see this comparison.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
You guys watching the game right now, that reminds you
of the young lady to your right.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
I like Peytoncher from Boston.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
Is this nigga talking about champion Regie Mouy Hey Reggie.
Reggie must have hit that all the smoke pack before
he went on camera. Yeah, because I thought he's gonna
say Steph too.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
So back to the original question, should should Tatum set
it out the entire year? Obviously he's coming off in
achilles injury that happened in the playoffs. Uh, he's a
head of schedule. We see him doing a lot of
one on one set, we see him lifting, he's into
some contact. Thoughts on him coming back this season.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
That got to be his decision, you know what I mean,
because at the end of the day, the team don'
want that on them and they try to, you know,
force him to play, which they probably would try. But
I think that's that's total up to him. He the
only one knows his body, He know the risk he taking,
He know how you feel. At the end of the day,
if he feels like he can go out there and
help the team and slowly get back into the groove
of things without re injuring himself and be out a
whole other season.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Then then you know, didn't do it. But who knows?
You know how question that Jack?
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Don't we need to be protected from ourselves sometimes because
I think more majority of us and I know Tatum
is the same way. If you give Tatum an opportunity
or his choice, he gonna come back.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right about that too.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Mad But you know, like, at the end of the day, man,
motherfucker's getting a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
You ain't getting a lot of money just to sit
over there. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
You ain't.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Like if you feel like you're good enough, Bro, you
know what I'm saying, then you're gonna have to if
you go out there and re injure yourself, and you're
gonna have to sit there and deal with it and
get back to rehab.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
But at the end of the day, it can't be
nobody's decision.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
But he But I also say this too, I mean, obviously,
with this unfortunately but fortunately be becoming a more common injury,
I think there's techniques to now and and in ways
that these people can come back faster you gotta think
acls used to be career ending, Achilles used to be
a career inig and now guys are getting these these
injuries and bouncing back quickly, so he may have, you know,
(31:43):
be ahead of schedule. Max, What are your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
It's some shoes.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
I think need to stay out the way. The guys
playing well, I mean, they jogging well together. I think
if he comes back, he's gonna fuck up with chemistry.
I think that's just need to stay out the way,
because you gotta think, man, come back, man, I mean,
and just something happen. Man, that's gonna be that's gonna
be devastating for that kid.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
So definitely, I just think that he should just.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
Stare at the way and gone get itself all the
way back right like he's supposed to.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
And then they're playing well. I mean what they second
in the East?
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Did they just be New York?
Speaker 1 (32:21):
No New York them?
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Yeah yeah, yeah they might need.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
But yeah, but I just man, they got they they
playing well, they jumped together. I mean, just stay out
the way.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
Ship expansion news owners will vote to expand by two
teams this summer. Las Vegas and Seattle are the two
likely destinations. Should any teams move east if this happens,
they're probably gonna have to take someone out the West
because that's two Western Conference teams. If I'm not mistaken,
I'm not mistaken. So is that is that? What is it?
What would that be? Like a Memphis, New Orleans, New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
I was about to say New Orleans, New Orleans would
have to move east.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Yeah, yeah, so Minnesota could probably be being Eastern Conference team.
Speaker 6 (33:00):
But are those the two cities that like, if you
guys weren't.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Absolutely I mean, Jack, they still got cash for a
corner out in Seattle. I remember my first my first
threesomes in Seattle. So I'm always gonna be a fan Seattle.
And then we already know what Vegas is talking about.
So I mean, would you would you guys are creating
two cities? This is crazy, My bad fellow. That ship
(33:29):
came out of left field. Probably get it.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
I get it. I get what you said. So they
freaking as hell up there.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
You know, Max, you played out there, but they we
it out there.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
That's just weird out there, how they do. I love it.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
I love Seattle too.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Yeah, I think Seattle's outside of the freaking is. It's
a beautiful city, a great fan base, and you gotta.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
Get over out there, that little dripping ship hitting on
the top of your head that loves missed coming one
for good.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
And good food.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
That part, and respectfully, nice women out there too. And
then we already know Vegas is is the.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
You're sitting if you're from Seattle one of your fat.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
My question, my question with Las Vegas, with all the
gambling ship going on in the league right now, is
Las Vegas the right place to have an expansion team?
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Now that's a great point, man, that's a great point.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Nah.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I mean it don't even matter. Mother, I was gonna
get it in regard, Yeah, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
We shall see, we shall see get something we've been
heavy on. And there's rumors circulating. I don't know if
the rumors urban legends or any truth to it, but
Mark Cuban trying to buy the Mavericks back. It has
been an absolute disaster since the Addison group took over.
And have to see fucking Patrick Demont's face talk and
and say ship like he knows what he's talking about.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Well, Matt, motherfuck got that. Casinos trying to buy NBA teams.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
So that's that's what it was they thought, not that,
you know what I mean, because.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
That's they make that money in the casino.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
I mean, I know the NBA they got them, they
als get a lot of money being there.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
But I'm just saying though, that casino shit is totally
a different level, man.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
So, and that's what they came into it for. So
to me, you're coming in for the wrong reasons. You're
not coming in to run a team the right way.
You're coming in for an alternative motive, a business play,
which they thought they were going to be able to
play in. Jackie, you remember you and I talked to
Mark before it even happened, but he was talking about
stepping away and helping kind of run that other side
of the game. Obviously it hasn't happened. They've completely destroyed
(35:52):
this team. If you look at it, you trade Luca
for a d and then you you you move a
D out. I saw some Frindy shit the other day.
There's a girl that was just fucking big ship and
I listened to her and she called Anthony Davis a
and d ointment. I said, holy shit. So hey, Mark
sold the team, but a majority of Steak was at
(36:12):
seventy five eighty percent of the team billion.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
Yeah, three and a half billion.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Still got a little bit of.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Juice with the team. Yeah. So, I mean obviously he
didn't when you know, we thought he was still going
to be on basketball decisions. Obviously he's not. Uh, he'll
probably take a hit trying to get this team back.
But I think we can all agree. You know, when
he was the owner of that team, that was one
of the best organizations to play for. They had a
lot of perks. Jack, What you laughing at? Jack? Man?
(36:39):
It's a crazy how I could just say some dumb
ship and keep it moving.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Hey hey, we posted up recently on all the smoke page.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
Man.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Everybody was adding named So I gotta go back and
find it.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Man.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
By what it's crazy? That's crazy? I mean what what
are what? I mean? What are we obviously obviously big
fans of Anthony Davis, but his inability to stay on
the court, he checks into d C and and and
I guess I don't know if it's his decision, a
team decision to set him down for the year. So
you look at at the end of the day, you trade, uh,
(37:21):
you do we have a list of what they traded
him for.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Who any Davis?
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Yeah, it was, it was. It was like A J.
Speaker 6 (37:27):
Johnson, Marvin Bagley Christ. They were all expiring in Brandham,
all expirings.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
And then three first round picks over a handful of years.
Speaker 6 (37:35):
Yeah, but there some are protected. Yeah, and all that
a d or the Luca basically netted like three first
rounders in.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
A bull nasty Yeah, we shall see. Before we get
out of here, we want to give a quick shout
out to my nephew, Elijah Arenez, who's come.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Back man major.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I say, yeah, dropped, dropped twenty nine a couple of weeks,
two weeks ago, had the game winner. This past weekend
at Penn State, dropped another twenty all. I think, obviously, Gil,
being the evil genius he is, I think Elijah is
gonna end up being a lottery pick this year, only
playing the season and possibly the tournament. Have you guys
(38:12):
got a chance to catch what he's been out here doing.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Yeah, man, he's the real deal. Shout out Gil too, man,
his son is the real motherfucking deal.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
He loved the game.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
I think offensively, it might not be nobody better than
the country than him. Offensively. I don't care who they
talk about, who they've been having at the top.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
He the truth.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
I think the DNA hasn't watching his daddy be a
prolific scorer in the NBA for years.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I think all this is coming out of him, Bro.
I think we watched him.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
We watched him when he was in high school and shit, Matt,
and we've seen what he was doing, the numbers he
was putting up.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
So to see him back on the court in college
and making this shit easy, it's.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
Gonna get easier as he gets stronger and get it's
gonna get easier. So definitely a lottery picking to me.
If you continue to play, he is gonna be the
best player in college this year.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Yeah. Yeah, that's a really talented leaf class.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
He said his dad was a prolific scorer.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
I mean, shit, I mean the kids, I mean, he's
the ceiling is hot for I mean he's gonna be
I mean he's a pro.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
I mean we know that part back there. We know
he's gonna play in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
So but I just think you once he gets stronger
and you know, and and I mean, I mean he's
a great ball play.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
I like what I see boy, because I mean, he
like he he liked to keep that water murky. He'd
like to keep it.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
He'd been through a lot. I mean, if you think
about it, he nearly died. I think last year he
got the UH in the in the tesla, the truck,
and he couldn't get out, and someone busted the window
out and he was unconscious and drug him out and
then he luckily, and I think I got this right,
he tore his meniscus. But they went in and found
something that was gonna end up hindering them down the road,
(39:49):
so they had this major surgery. He's only actually played
six games, and numbers aren't off the charts, but I
think we all see if if at the eye test,
you know, he's only average fourteen and shooting thirty five
percent in six games. The team is four and two
during that stretch. But there's some stuff that points in
pursuited percentage doesn't measure. You can see the way he moves,
the way he gets to a spots, and I don't
(40:09):
know how the fuck this kid got six to eight.
He's six eight. He could tie his shoes standing straight up.
You got long ass arms. So I'm really excited to
see him jump in this draft class. He reclassed up
back to his original draft class. But this is obviously
what Darren Peterson, Ajdabansa, the Cameron Boozer, the boy from
(40:30):
North Carolina, Caleb Williams, Isaiah Evans. He really talented, really talented,
probably one of the most talented draft class. Jack Price,
you know your class, it's gonna be interesting, you know,
mellow and Lebron's class was heavy as well. But there's
a lot of tough guys in this draft. So it's
(40:50):
gonna be this. It's gonna be a good March madness.
Hopefully we don't have to see No. Twenty seven and
twenty eight year old motherfuckers in the tournament. Hopefully boys play.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Yeah, Hey, Matt, remember I told you about that part.
Speaker 5 (41:02):
Remember I say, Matt, it's gonna be all five kids, man,
now man, because grown.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Ass man coming back and playing.
Speaker 4 (41:11):
How you this morning had an NBA uniform moment. He
come back and play in college. I mean, that's crazy,
that's crazy, man. My kid ain't got a goddamn chance.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Matt. You did see the Alabama thing though.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Right, Yeah? The one Alabama kid who he he just
was ruled ineligible yesterday.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
Yeah, a couple of days ago he was.
Speaker 6 (41:28):
He was like a temporary release where he could still
be with the team while they were figuring it out.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
That I went to court and lost, And obviously none
of us are hating all these kids. Time. Once you,
once you give up your amateur status and go pro.
To me, you should not able to come back. Before
we get out of here, the shout out, how you
see NICOLEA Topics? Yeah, Topics was a top ten draft
pick in twenty twenty four towards a cl played in
(41:52):
the Summer League and was diagnosed with cancer. He just
played his first G League game. He's in remission now
and we want to wish him a speedy recovery and
a successful man. Best of luck moving forward. Well that's
a wrap. You can catch us on all the Smoke
Productions YouTube and the Draft Kings Network. Fellas, I'll see
you guys out here in a couple of days for
(42:12):
All Star Max. Bring your clubs, Jack, bring your lungs,
