N mad Maximus Maxwell.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
What's up? Bro? You told me? You told me it's
freezing out there right now? How they got all max
in the house.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Oh yeah, I ain't going no weather day.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
I'm sitting in this old man chill, lean back, motherfucking
massage on the heat on this motherfucker.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Sit my eles down right here, and you know the
older we get that cold weather be wearing on them.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Bones, specially down here this motherfucker ship.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Just for the record, it's a d out here. I
got short song, living good. I might get skateboarding a
little bit, you know, I got that skateboard. We got
the Doctor J episode coming up, really exciting. One of
the legends. You got any uh Doctor J memories or
stories for us?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Man, Like I always said, Man, I mean, everybody say,
you know, that was the guy who I looked up
to and when I when I was coming up, I
used to watch him Doctor J.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
You know, that was the faith that was my favorite
player ever.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
So, I mean it was so I mean, yeah, but
just the uh, the.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Move he did against the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
You know, the basket, you know what I mean. So
I got a lot of memories of Doctor J you know.
And I mean when he when he went at Labrard
ass and scrapper. Yeah he's a scrapper too, so but yeah,
so but I got a I mean, that was my
favorite player, man, But doctor J Man. Yeah, that's why
(01:49):
I played this game. And that's why you know what
I mean. I mean, that's what I mean because of
Doctor J Man.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
That's my favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
He was a little before my time. But I think
what I took away from kind of obviously seeing you know,
his on the court greatness and what he was doing
with the acrobatics and someone who MJ looked up to,
someone you looked up to, but I took away his
style just how motherfucking fly he still to this day,
(02:17):
he still fly. He's I think his seventy six birthday
is coming up, he told us, So I want to
say it's in May, if I'm not mistaken. And also
I just got news yesterday, Man, I'm co hosting his
golf tournament in Philly this summer. So you got to
come out back, come out there and play with us.
I'm there, I'm there, but yeah, but yeah. This Thursday,
Julius irving on all the smokes to make sure you
(02:40):
guys tap in and check that out. One of my
former teammates and my brother, CP three, announced his retirement
last week. What do you think about his legacy? Twelve
time All Star, nine time All NBA Defensive Team Rookie
of the Year. Definitely a top seventy five guy, someone
that Kobe spoke very highly. Kobe spoke very highly. I
(03:01):
was on the Laker team when he was trying to
recruit Chris and it was all but a done deal
till they asked it. They both have fun memories of
each other playing on the All Star team together. I mean,
Chris is someone an acquired taste. I think Chris gets
a bad rap because Max, he could have played in
your ear from a standard I was going to tell
you what you need to hear, not what you want
to hear. He's hard to know. He's tough to guard
(03:23):
one through four if the four is small enough, but
one of the toughest soldiers I ever went to. When
you think Chris Paul, what do you think of First.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Of all, guy was tough as nails.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I mean, I mean tough as nails. Chris Paul.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
When I think about Chris Paul, man a god, theiry man,
a family man, you know first and you know as
a basketball player.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Man.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I got to know his mom and dad and my
son played for up on the CPE three, Tristan Maxwell.
I mean, so I see where he got it from.
You know, the tenaciousness and the way he played, and
and and.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Just to be a pro, the way he was night
in and night out.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
I mean one of the guys that never ever really
you really never heard nothing really bad come out about
Chris Paul. I mean, you know, since he been playing,
and since he been I mean NBA or whatever, in
college or whatever. Chris Paul, I mean, the man, he's
just a good man. And that's what I'd like to
(04:31):
say about Chris. But uh, as far as basketball man.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
He was a dog. We know that part.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
He was a dog.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
He wanted to cut your damn head off and that's
why he came to play every night. So but uh, yeah,
I love Chris Paul and love everything about the family man,
and uh uh it was a blessing for me just
to even know this man, you know, I mean so yeah, man,
that's how I feel about Chrisball.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
One of the last pure point guards. Yes, you know,
a pure point guard. You think Rondo and and CP
were kind of the last of the guys I played
with it are pure point guards. Point Guards are different
these days, are there? Their score first type guys. Not
that they can't dish, but they're more score first type guys.
But again, the one thing I think bothered me about
all this was the way he went out with the
(05:16):
Clippers that really bothered me. You know, arguably one of
their best players, if not their best player in franchise history.
He announces it's a failware tour. You know what you're
getting when you have him. I mean TLU was the
assistant coach for Doc when when when we were there
with the Lob City team, so you already know what
And like I said, Chris is going to tell you
how it is how you want to hear it. And
(05:36):
I think that probably rubbed some people the wrong way
because he wasn't able to produce the way he produced
in the past when he said what he said. But
I'm sure he wasn't wrong, you know, So for him
to for him to go out, for the Clippers to
do him the way they did him really bothered me.
Uh And to be honest with you, I think I've
only worked one game since then. I've had to cancel.
(05:58):
But I don't think I'll be I don't think I'm
gonna be going back, to be honest with you, mass
because I just think that shit is fucked up. That's
what I mean. You're playing with somebody's legacy, You're playing
with something they did. They didn't like super dirty when
they signed Blake to a big ass contract and then
they trade him to Detroit. I mean, you do your
you know, you do your your your franchised, you know,
(06:19):
possibly two of the greatest players that your organization has
ever had. You do him dirty. It's just that shit
rubs people the wrong way. And obviously it could be
water under the bridge of some people, and the team
had played good since he had moved on, But you know,
you don't forget bullshit like that, and it's just disappointing
that CP didn't get to go out the way he
deserved should go out arguably a top five point. We'll
(06:39):
get into that debate another day, but CP was one
of them. Yes, and congratulations on a great, long, prosperous career.
Never got that championship, but one of the greatest players
have never win a championship. And now, like I told
his son, it's on a little CP now, so he
gets to sit back and get some time with the
family and coach your son. And don't be surprised if
(07:00):
this is not a high school basketball coach. For me,
don't be surprised if he's not coaching the Sun next year.
Winter Olympics just wrapped. Twenty twenty eight, are the LA Olympics.
Now it's time to start thinking about the USA basketball team.
Someone on ESPN came out and put a twelve man
(07:20):
roster together, And I don't really take their rankings or
anything they say too serious because it's not necessarily people
that have a background in the game. They just have
an opinion. And I think we all have opinions, but
I prefer to listen to my opinions from people who've
done it. This is going to be interesting because there's
two guys that still come to mind. Most likely Lebron
(07:42):
to be done. He'll be damn what forty five forty six,
He'll be on some Oscar Schmidt shit if he came back.
But Katie and Steph will both be right around thirty
nine years old. And I think KD came out and said,
like he wants his plot paraphrasing, he wants his play
to do the talking. He doesn't want to honorary O
g Spot. He wants his play to be able to
(08:04):
solidify why he's on that team. I think Steph would
be in that same boat. I think if they're both healthy,
I think they both get a chance to make one
more run. This would be Katie's fifth Olympics, going to
his fifth gold medal, which no one has done on
the basketball side, So that'd be amazing. So we'll have
to see again. They'll both be thirty nine in twenty
(08:25):
twenty eight. But I think the way they take care
of bodies, barring any serious injury, they both should and
could be on that team. So I'm gonna name a
handful of guys that we got to pick twelve of them. Actually,
this is what the is this the ESPN one. So
I'm gonna give you what the ESPN guy their first cam.
Write these down so you can have a little reference
(08:45):
for him. So they picked Cooper Flagg, kN Kin Nipple,
Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Duran, Amen Thompson, Chet Holmgren,
Bam out of Bayo, Scottie Barnes, Kate Cunningham, Jalen Williams,
Jason Tatum. So from this list, and I'll and and
I'll go first. I think in that first row, I
(09:10):
think Cooper Flag and Anthony Edwards make it. I think
in that second row it'll be interesting because I think
the three biggs will be Jalen, Duran, chet Holmgrin and
Bam out of Bio to be interesting to see if
all three of them get in. But I think those
are our bigs because you know, traditionally, who's the big
they're gonna have to deal with? Uh, only Jokich is
the real strong big they're not to deal with, right
(09:32):
because Wimby's a big who But Wimby's not. I'm talking
about big guys. So I'm just sometimes like, none of
the Duran and and and and and Chet and Bam
they're not they're not lighting ass, but they're not traditional centers.
They're they're bigs, but they're not traditional centers. In I
think the only big they're gonna really have to deal
with is Jokic. Obviously, Giannis will be out there and
and and Wimby will be out there. But they're more skilled, bigger, stronger,
(09:55):
you know, biggs than traditional. So Cooper Flag, Anthony Edwards,
A combination of Jalen Duran chet Holmgunn and Bam I
think will be the Biggs. I think Cade cutting Ham's
lock and I think Jason Tatum. So how many is
that right there?
Speaker 6 (10:09):
Seven? Got five? So if you look at this here.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Some so here, here's keep your thoughts, keep your thoughts
because I want to name all these. So the snuffs
would be Jayden Brown, Tyres Maxi, Jalen Johnson, Palos, Stephan,
Stephan Castle, Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Jalen Brunson, Evan Mobley.
Who's that one who's that don't sleep?
Speaker 6 (10:32):
Yeah from Portland?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah? Oh the kid in port like average Apolo. Apologies,
I wasn't familiar with your name, but I know you're gay.
Shack would say, uh, Triple j A, J debansa cam Boozer.
I don't even think you can put Anthony Davis on
this list, respectfully. I don't know if his body will
be where it needs to be in in two years
(10:57):
and then Kevin Durant and Steah So I got seven
so far. So I think Jayden Brown. The only way
Jalen Brown doesn't make this team is if they blackball.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Like the way he shouldn't have been on the last
goddamn Olympic. I mean, we know why, we know what.
That's where that come from.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Though it was the shoe ship, right, I think it
was the shoe ship. So if the only reason why
he's not on the team, if the US committee is
blackballing himself. You heard it here playing a simple if
he's not on the team, he's being black balled. It's
talent wise he's there. So I would put Jayden Brown
on there. That's eight.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
How did a snow big body Brunson.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
So that's a conversation to me. So do you take
see I think I'm taking the Tyresse Maxi or Jalen Brown,
you know what I mean? So I think Jayalen So
this is my So Jaden Brown is my eighth. I
think Jalen Johnson from Atlanta is gonna sneak in there.
He's a doing everything. It keeps getting better. I'm gonna
(12:03):
come back to Tyras Maxey, I think Devin Booker should
be a lock in on that team. And then I
want to but you know what.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I really like the bore of Stephen Castle.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Now, so that was another debate we had, so turn
it back to that page. So are you taking Castle
over Jalen Brown or Tyrese MAXI though I like Castle
a lot, but I think he's young and I think
he will eventually make an Olympic team? But are putting
him over Jayleen? And that was my same question for
Jalen Brunson. Are you putting Jalen Brunson over Jalen Brown
(12:37):
and Tyrese Maxey.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
No, it's on one not left then.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
So and then I want to throw a wild card
in there. I mean, is it is it? Is it
a Is it a Darren Peterson who we're gonna touch
on a little bit later in the show. Is it
a AJ DEBANTSA? Is it a Cam Boozer one of
the most fundamentally sound college players we've seen in a
long time, who's just a winner? And then again Steph
and KD I think should be on that team. So
(13:02):
that's twelve. So what so what's my list in let's
go back.
Speaker 7 (13:05):
So your list, your list as it stands out is
Cooper Flag, Anthony Edwards, Kate Cunningham, Devin Booker, Maxi.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Curry, Curry, KD, Tatum.
Speaker 7 (13:19):
Your fourds would be Tatum, Flag, Brown, and KD. And
then your bigs are Duram chet Bam.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
How me is that twelve? That's twelve.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
That's no Jalen Johnson.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
That's no Jalen Johnson on there. So I want to
take I'm probably gonna take you too. Yeah, So let's
let's let's say Stephen k D, your Grandfatherdan. Let me
put two more people on there if they're not in
so one would definitely be Javin Johnson, and then I'll
probably go with the Scottie Barnes maybe, yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Because you know he gotta lock up. You know he
got you gotta have somebody to play defense.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Big plays both ways, ye, Scott.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
So no Halliburton, no Donovan Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Respectfully, I don't think. I think there's guys that are
better and I like Haliburton, but I think the guys
that we have are better than him, and they played, yes, absolutely,
you know, you know, so Jayden Brown is definitely gonna
lock up. I have to see more defense up from Maxie,
But I think Maxie would be one of those guys
that understands his role and goes out the same way.
I don't think people respect how much Devin Booker sacrificed
(14:25):
in the last Olympics where they gave him a role
to go out there and play, and he played that
shit to a team, and I think it made him
a better player, because we know his ability to put
the ball in the basket, but he took a huge
step back. It was one of the ultimate glue guys
with his skill set. Was was really impressive to me.
So it's going to be interesting to see. I mean,
(14:47):
obviously a ton of talent. You know, this new generation
is coming in loaded. I mean we're seeing the last
and I hope people appreciate the last of you know,
hopefully we get Stephan kd for another two three years.
You know, we probably get Lebron for one more year.
Like this new generation is filled with talent and skill.
I mean, we didn't even mention Evan Mobley. Who's who's
someone I really like who I think at some point
(15:08):
one Olympic team. But I think the US team is
in really good hands. But I do think it'll be
good to have those og vets for this one last
run to teach this next generation what it's going to
be like moving forward before they completely hand the keys over.
Speaker 7 (15:23):
If there's one player that's not in the NBA today
that would make the twenty eight Olympic team, who would
it be?
Speaker 1 (15:29):
AJJ? I would say six nine. Both you got thinking.
And he's young too. I want to say he's what
seventeen or eight? He's eighteen this year, so he would
only be twenty at that time. He's gonna have two
more years under his belt. I'm a big fan.
Speaker 6 (15:46):
He'll be He'll be twenty one.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Boy. I'm hungry on both sides of ball. Him and
Cooper Flag. I got a chance to see in a
day where AAU is nasty. I saw both this kids
play and they competed, picked up full court and where
dogs on both sides of the ball. So that that
won me over outside of their skill set, and you
know what Cooper's been doing in the league, and aj
leading college basketball and scoring. Moving on to another college
(16:12):
guy who has drawing some attention, Darren Peterson strange season,
you know, reporting hamstring issues, some cramping issues. He has
times to that he flashes greatness of some of the
greatest players we've ever seen. He embodies that at times.
I'm interesting to see what he does in the tournament.
But if you look at his numbers, he's that twenty
(16:34):
seven minutes a game, and I think we selfishly want
to see more because he is such a great player.
We want to see what is what are what are
college games? Thirty two minutes a game? For forty minutes
a game, so a little bit over half the game,
I think people want to see more. But at the
same time, it's twenty points a game, it's forty seven
from the field in forty from three. He's played in
seventeen games, he's missed how many ten or eleven.
Speaker 7 (16:56):
Around that, like, AJ, for example's played ten more games
than Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
So, but I think what's rubbing people the wrong way
is kind of I think he's exerting the business of basketball.
And I think Nate brought up a great point today.
I mean, if you're a number one pick, number two pick,
you're pretty much guaranteed at least one hundred million in
the coming years, you know what I mean. So on
the flip side, where we're seeing AJ play every game,
and he's leading college basketball and scoring and it's you know,
(17:22):
he is the leader of his team and every night
you can count on him. You don't see that from Peterson.
When he's out there, he's the absolute man. But you'll
see him hit shots and take himself out. I don't
know if that's his agent. I don't know if that's
his family. I don't know if that's his manager. But Max,
this could be and I hate to say this, this
could be the new load management of top college players.
(17:45):
Only he's the only one doing it, because if you
look at all, this is a loaded freshman class, and
everyone else is playing every single game as many minutes
as it can and having great seasons. This guy is
still having a really good season, but he's on load management.
So what are your thoughts when you see someone with
that much talent not necessarily just go out there and
enjoy his college experience. We know he's only going to
be there for a year. What do you think when
(18:08):
you see him miss ten or eleven games. Some of
them maybe are for for for real reasons, but for
the most part, kind of minute restrictioning himself and kind
of unload management while you're in college.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Hey, no disrespect to my guy, Kyrie. Me and Jelena
was talking about this earlier. He might as well just
did what Kyrie did. Just played in the motherfucking tournament.
You know what I mean. And you know what I mean,
not played in the season. So but I mean, I
don't know. It's it's weird. I mean, shit, if you,
I just don't think if you can play thirty two games,
(18:38):
I don't know how you can end up playing eighty
two games. You know, see what I'm saying, that's gonna
be tough if you. If you, I mean, it's just
I mean, I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I ain't that's a great point.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
I don't know the kid. But my thing is that
I know it's a it's a grind. And Matt, you
know that part too about the NBA season. It's eighty
two games, man, and this kid can't play thirty two games.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
Man, that's man.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
So I don't know, I don't, I don't know. I
keep seeing them checking himself out. Yeah, I mean a
crucial points of the game. I mean, I mean, you'll
hit us. I mean, this is crazy. I mean, I
never ever seen nothing like this in my life. But
I mean, but you know Bill self, You know I
blame his ass too. You got to put a lot
on him too. You know, he let that motherfucker do
(19:25):
that too.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Now.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
So but you see Bill self, not to his defense,
but has been coming out like, hey, this wasn't as
planning this is. And I think back in the day, Max,
you could blame the coach a little more because they
had a little bit more power. But I think that
I think the school and the coach is powerless when
it comes to this. I don't think it's up to them,
you know what I mean. I don't think we live
in a day and age where you can make a
(19:46):
prudential number one pick go out there and play. He's
got to want to do it. Yeah, And I think
you made a great point, Max, of all young players
hit that that rookie wall, or even that second year
wall of we're playing, say at the most thirty five
games the season, then jump into eighty two plus preseason
plus playoffs. That's a big lift. But I will I'll
tell you this. I was with someone in the front office,
(20:09):
an assistant coach, and a commentator yesterday at this golf tournament,
and they were saying that front offices are concerned about this.
This is something they're concerned about. Again, So to your point,
the ability if you can't get through you know this
many college games, how are you going to make it
to the next level or just his and you know,
one of the does he really love the game? And
(20:31):
again we don't want to we don't want to speak
for him because we don't know what's going on. I
think this is more business of the game and his
potential earning. So again I understand that, but college is
supposed to be go out there and do your thing
man half period, half fun. So again, having a really
solid season, really excited to see what he does in
the tournament. You know, they just beat Houston last night, right,
(20:55):
they just beat you know the number two teams, Houston three. Oh,
Houston's five. So you know, to beat a tough Houston
team last night. And obviously he played really well. So
you know, when he's on the floor, there's not a
question of his talent. The question is just is he
going to be on the floor.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Absolutely, that's just.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
What's new in the gutters. Huh, some news around NBA
small markets. The gutters is a tough name for this
segment right here, Anthony Edwards. I need to get him
on the show. By the way, he was funny. I
saw a little edit of this. He said, Memphis is
at Memphis has dirty hotels and Draymond Green, Oh, Draymond
(21:32):
double down. I didn't see Draymond double down on it.
Is there a clip of it right here?
Speaker 5 (21:35):
And man, it's pretty blunt about it. But yes, they
I think they may have the worst group of hotels
in the league.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
For sure.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
We had an issue there where we used to stay
at one hotel in Memphis and this day's back, we
stopped staying there because their sprinklers just went on for
no reason in the room and like dreshed all the
Andrew Bogan stuff, like the sprinkler system, like it was
a fire, just went off, dreshed all bogus stuff, and
(22:10):
they and they didn't they didn't want to do anything
about it. So we switched hotels then, right, So it's
been an issue. It's gotten a little better, I must say,
but it's not It's still not the other cities. So
we'll see what happens in Memphis with the hotels.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I guess you know, I had a perception and this
is not even the disrespectfuls because I had a perception
of Memphis that was similar to what they said. And
then when I went out there, I actually enjoyed it.
It was everything I needed in my life at the time,
coming fresh off a divorce and coming off a dysfunctional
Lob City team. I was, you know, kind of able
to reset in center. They had great food. Yeah, the
women were The women were very nice to me out there,
(22:51):
and you know, it was a really hospitable city. Everyone
was super cool, you know what I mean. So, but
it is one of those cities outside looking in if
you don't spend a ton of time there. You know, Max,
what are some other cities you think of? You think
of Memphis, What are some other cities you think of? Like, damn,
we gotta go here. Now, what are some other cities
you think about? Dramond Clip Utah. Utah is a good
(23:16):
one with Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Goodness Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Milwaukee. People didn't want to go to People don't want
to go to Sack. Although Sack was a m.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Detroit.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
I ain't like Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Well that's back when we were we were out and
we weren't you know, we went to Detroit for a
stock X team we actually stayed in the city and
it was dope. But you remember we that's back when we
were out there. They were at the Palace of Auburn Hills,
So we were out there five an hour away from
the city. I ain't like Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Ship the big ass water rats out there in Cleveland.
Speaker 6 (23:56):
Like cats.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
And I remember they used to have the Peabody where
they had walked a little ducks out all the time.
I think that's where we all used to stay. And
then they built that new and I forgot what it's called,
but it's right across the street from the arena where
most of the teams stay now. But I mean it's
it's it's a small market team, small city. You know,
you're not going to get the five star writs and
where we're accustomed to stay. Until we sound a little
(24:18):
boogie right now. But it's just a little different in
some of these little smaller so he said, these cities.
Moving on.
Speaker 7 (24:26):
But hold on, Matt, how did it changed from team
to team because you're on a lot of different teams
and it's up to the team to decide.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Because I don't think I mean because some I mean,
you only had two options of Memphis it was that
newer hotels across the street from the arena or the Peabodies.
I mean, I don't think it's definitely up the team.
The teams are going to put you in the best available.
So some of these cities just don't have best in anything.
So speaking of smaller cities and small markets. And I
(24:55):
hate to dog my hometown team, but this is a
little love. I guess they snapped a sixteen game losing, Damn,
you got to quit, you had you had a quick
pit stop and sack? Was that was that at the
What year was that?
Speaker 2 (25:09):
That was a ninety ninety eight when I was.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
There, Okay, so that's when they were starting to get good, right, Yeah,
that was Web and all them boys. So did you
have Jay Will or Bibby at that time? So j
was still there? Yeah? Yeah, I think that was the
best we've ever seen as far as you know, someone
who was a Kings fan. That was the best team
that era. They had about a four year five year run.
(25:35):
Web was the centerpiece, and Vlottie and you and Bobby
Jackson and Bibby and Jay Will. They had a lot
of talent there.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
The architect of that was Jeff Petree and then obviously
the great Rick Adelman was the coach. Since it's it's
been in shambles and I saw it firsthand. And this
is not a knock on ownership, but ownership has issues
rusting the people they hire, giving power to people that
you know, want to shot on the team in the draft,
and you know, missed on a ton of draft picks.
(26:09):
So you know, my man, Doug Chrissy's the head coach
right there, right now. They've shut the team down, and
they're such a bad team. I don't even think the
NBA can find it for tanking. They're just not a
good team, you know. But they've they've shut Zach Lavine down,
They've cut the bonus down. You know, you got Tomorrow
withering away over there. You got Russell Westbrook playing his
ass off, withering away over there. I don't know what
it's going to take to bring light to this fan
(26:31):
base that definitely deserves it. That's one of the greatest
fan bases in the league. And the product they continue
to put out is nasty. So this is coming from
a place of love, Sacramento fans, So don't be dming
me and blowing my shit up there's nothing more than
I that I want to see than this team. Do better.
Bring me in the front office and let me help you.
(26:52):
I have I have a I have a way of
connecting and seeing talent and have a huge platform. Let
me help, Just let me help. I would love I
would love to help.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Hey, y'all bring my more mad in there, man, because y'all.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
Hiring mother folks don't know what they're doing so right
some in the game.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Man, bring my man.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
We're gonna Hey, we love to talk about this some more.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Hey, Sacramento, do the right thing. Get my man in
the moment office.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Now, come on, let's do it, all right, you tall
one of your favorite places on the planet. Shit, they
shut down Nurkic and Triple J having season ending surgery.
I think they're doing a really good job because I
think they have some really good piece. I think they're
doing a really good job of tanking. Yes, they're eighteen
(27:38):
and forty right now, and they know that kid that's
going to b YU if they're able to land him.
And the NBA has had a funny way of landing
Brown and Cleveland and Kyrie and Cleveland and Dereck Rose
Chicago and They've had a funny way of blessing teams
at times. But I love the direction of this new ownership.
(27:59):
They got a lot of good young talent in pieces. Uh,
this is going to be a very loaded draft. I
think the Utah Jazz are on their way up. Don't
let this record this year fool you. I think this
was an intentional, intentional for this record to be this way,
to to to to stock up in this draft and
then be able to come out swinging because they have
(28:20):
a lot of those pieces. So I'm interested to see,
you know, the direction of this Utah Jazz team in
the next three to five years.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yeah, I liked it. I liked I like you, I
like marketing, I like I know they're doing. They is
tanked the most for the season, but.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
So Jay's there, He's wrapped there across the street from
the motherfucker. So, I mean, so it makes a lot
of sense, and I get it, Like you said, lebron
Man in Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
How unfortunately after working that wasn't so.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
But it's it's gonna happen. That's what's gonna happen. He's
gonna down, He's gonna end up in Utah.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
I heard some good things about that. I actually went
out to Utah and had a good time. We went
out there and visited our friends that do the YouTube
guru team out there shot them out. But we went
out there and actually had a really good time. So
we might be going back to Utah.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Well what you did, motherfucker?
Speaker 1 (29:08):
We went they're called side by side. We were fucking
the streets up to Jelani was driving like a thirteen
year old girl at first, so his nuts dropped and
he started driving how he should. Dale got a little
bit of driving it. But I was out there wrecking shop.
It was dumbe. We had a good time. We went
on a crash course out there of just YouTube, you know,
just making our company better. We got a little play time.
(29:31):
But no, I say all that to say is what
they told us about. You know, aj picking b Yu
was just more of the business of the game. You know,
he went to high school out there senior year and
him and him and his pops are really heavy on
the business of basketball. There was more than this money
being given to him, opportunity business opportunities, investment opportunities, ownership
opportunities of certain things. So I really liked kind of
(29:52):
what they and I want to, you know, divulge everything
they told us, but it's bigger than basketball out there,
what he's getting, and it sounds dope, so to say,
what kind of businessman he is? What else we got, Nate?
Speaker 7 (30:03):
I have a question off of this because there's a
lot of conversation about the Jazz tanking and they were
fined half a million dollars for this.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
Why are they.
Speaker 7 (30:14):
Getting criticized so much when teams like the Spurs and
a bunch of other teams historically have done the same thing.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Yeah, well, I just think tanking is such a big deal.
And I want to say Richard Jefferson came up with
a great idea, and again kind of paraphrasing because I
didn't get to see the whole thing, but he said
something like, once you're eliminated from the playoffs, there should
be a points system where winning obviously counts more than
it losing does. So I think there has to be
some kind of incentive. And then people are saying, well,
(30:42):
why would players on that team if they're going to
be losing want to still go out? Because you're fucking
in the NBA. That's why you're going to want to
go out there and want to play hard. But there
needs to be something said for tank and I think
teams that intentionally tank there needs to not because fines
don't do nothing. These half a million million dollars finds,
these are these are billionaires. Yeah, there has to be
(31:03):
some kind of incentives for draft stock that you know,
once you're eliminated there there should be a point system
and the more games you win, the better chance you
have of getting a top pick, and that'll I think
that'll keep these these dweller teams competitive for longer. And
if your dog shit, your dogshit, and you're gonna keep
being dogshit, you know you'll be at the back of
(31:23):
the lottery. But I think these teams that are tanking,
that have talent, there needs to be some kind of
for all these teams that are eliminated for the playoffs,
there need to be some kind of point system that
the more you win on the back half of the season,
the better chance you have in the lottery.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
So I just don't understand, man, I mean, I just
I could man, I couldn't play.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
I mean, I just I love game so much. I
love to play the game so much.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
And I know it took me so much to get there,
and for me to disrespect the game.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Man, I mean, I want to play. I know it'll be.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Hard for a coach to tell me, motherfuck, we're gonna
sit you out and I ain't hurt.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
No man gonna say so this is just.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Weird now, man, I just don't I get it. But
I mean, it's a new age boll. That's I guess
that's why I played in the era when I played
so but I just it just this ship is crazy.
We're sitting up here talking about this ship.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Got to talk about we got to talk about some
more ship.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah, this ship.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Were sitting up here talking about motherfuckers taking to see
how you do that ship's weird.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Not wanting to play getting too. It used to be
a badger, honor. Come on, man, that used to be
a badger Man. So the m v P race.
Speaker 7 (32:36):
So we got the list we said was s g A, Yeah, Yo,
Kic Yep, Wemby yep, Caid.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yep, and Brown. Those are the top five we picked.
And we have guys that they can only miss a
few more games to actually qualify for the sixty five
game minimum. You need to be able to you know,
win any of these season and awards. So kid is
obviously in there. Twenty five, ten, and six. Yeah, you
(33:04):
said you can only miss seventeen. I don't think he's
gonna miss that many. You can only miss SGA could
only miss a couple more games. He's out with an injury.
Yokic just missed sixteen games, so he only has a
handful of games left. Huh. One Yo has only missed one.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
Can only be off the board.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
You can only miss seventeen games.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
You got to hit the sixty five game mark.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Yeah, so yeah, Yo yoki yo. So if Yo Kics
doesn't play pretty much every game after All Star, he's
out of the running. SGA is only gonna be able
to miss a handful of games.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
He's currently hurt too, Yeah, he's hurt.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
Reevaluate Wenby has missed thirteen games, so he can only
miss four more games. And you'd hate to see and
this is no disrespect, but someone to get to get
the MVP by default. You know, I don't think that
that's that's what their plan was when they try to
come up with these regulations to make guys play again,
which is crazy. But what are your thoughts on you know,
obviously that we have the top five candidates right now,
(33:58):
but you know there's half of them are borderline going
to be disqualified for not playing the minimum amount of games.
Speaker 7 (34:07):
This is also first team All NBA too, like that's
to be considered as well. They could be taken out
of first team All NBA.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yeah, well, so all the accolades, contracts, that's livelihood, manhood, familyhood,
a lot of things are at stake here.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Mother fucks can't play sixty five games? Shit, crazy, It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
I'm just I'm just mad. I'm just motherfuck can't play
sixty five games?
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Man.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Come on, man, oh my goodness, man, this is crazy.
Man once again.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Well, we're sitting up here talking about this ship. Let's
this myll fuck game play sixty five games? Man, this
is crazy, my father, sixty five games. God damn you
gotta love it. You got I mean, you're getting all
the money. Goddamn you gotta you gotta getting all them.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
I think obviously trumps everything now, trumps at all.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Sixty five games man. I mean, I'm.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
You would think getting all this money, you would you
would get more, right, not not necessarily production, because they're
they're producing when they're out there, just you get to
see them every night again and again. Not to sound
like the old motherfuckers, but we are the old. Like
we got to see guys every night playing watching the
game growing up, we saw our favorite players every night
and then playing in the game in the league for
(35:23):
as long as I played. The best players always play period, period.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
So it's different, different, different. So with that said, we
got about what twenty games left? Twenty two games left?
Who's your MVP up to this point? Let's just say
all these guys, so Cade, Jalen Brown, SGA, Wimby, and
your Jokic. Let's say they all qualify. Out of those five,
(35:53):
who do you have?
Speaker 3 (35:55):
M hmm?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
That's what Still, that's my guy? How many games up
in the Westerns are they?
Speaker 7 (36:00):
They're only they're only three up from the Spurs.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
Okay, and the Spurs have beat.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
It's hard to argue with with s G A. But
I love what Kid has been able to do. I
love what Wenby has been able to do. I love
what Jalen Brown has done. This to be able to
you got to think a team that lost four core
guys and the guy that that that is the best player,
they say, the best player on the team, and he
(36:32):
has them in the second or third in the in
the Eastern Conference second. And he got a taste of
the racist Beverly Hills PD out here where they canceled
his event and then came back the next day and
apologize about the lie they had. I mean, the Beverly
Hills PD is some of the most racist cops in
the game. As soon as I saw this article, and
you know Jaylen Brown, the way he moves, he's not
(36:52):
even a party type dude. He had a panel of intelligent,
moving forward, diversity, diversity, Brown unity, game, business education, that's
what the kind of time they are on. And they
came and lied about a permit, and as soon as
I saw it, I said, racist Beverly Hills PD, and
(37:12):
you can't everything's not race And then the very next
day they came out and said the bullshit, They apologized
for the bullshit. It was a racely motivated right shut down.
And it's just it's an embarrassment for the city. It's
a embarrassment for Beverly Hills PD. So anyway, it's gonna
be interesting to see twenty games, twenty two games. The
final race is gonna be dope if everyone qualifies, and
(37:32):
then just seating is gonna be interesting anyway, Max, good
to see you always. You got to get back out
to this California sunshine to bring your golf clubs.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
They want to do it a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Okay, sounds good man. We'll good to see you. Can
what up and we'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Thanks for having me out
