Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey there, folks, it is Tuesday, March tenth, and how
can it be possible a case of someone getting less
kate than they actually deserve. Well, I am told that
is the case now of the president's granddaughter. With that
Welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. I got
that right. You just let me hear that comment about
(00:23):
Kay Trump, and it sounds weird. As much hate as
she's getting, She's not good enough.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
That's what most of the commenters are saying on her
YouTube channel. On her YouTube channel, I just went through
hundreds and hundreds of thousands of comments, and Babe, I
could not find one kind comment, not one nice comment.
The only non critical comment was I hope she reads
(00:49):
the comments and is capable of self reflection.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
That's fair. That is fair. I hope she doesn't read
those comments. I do hope someone pulls her aside. I
think a lot of you all have probably seen this
story by now. I guess they just hit what the
video I think she posted two days ago, but it
certainly took off with criticism full blown yesterday. But the
(01:14):
granddaughter of the President, Kai Trump, eighteen years old, eighteen
years old posted a video what was the original title
of the video on her YouTube.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Channel, I brought My Secret Service to airwon.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Okay, let's start with that title. First of all, I
don't know what the hell erawon is, and I.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Wouldn't have known it either, except from my nineteen year
old daughter heard about it from her friends who live
in LA. It's basically this ridiculously overpriced Los Angeles grocery store.
Just no, it is absurd, babe, Like do you remember,
I don't know if your Annalise facetimed me and her
(01:53):
job was dropped, Like, Mom, this cauliflower is fifteen dollars,
you know that kind of thing, Like she's shown me
stuff in the grocery store and can't believe what she's seeing.
And kind of that's what we saw Kai Trump do.
Except for what she was saying, how she was saying
it in the times that we're in it, none of
(02:13):
it landed.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
So take all of that you just said, everybody into
context that this is the eighteen year old granddaughter of
the most powerful man on the planet, who is rich
as all get out. His granddaughter is in a store,
this very expensive store. Now the title itself will throw you.
I brought My Secret Service to Airwan. The video then
(02:37):
goes into I guess orbes if you weren't uncomfortable with
the title, you certainly would be uncomfortable with some of
the things she was saying. Look, she was trying to
give a tour round the store, yes.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
But she was acting as if she's one of us,
that she's a guest at the prices, when clearly she
and her family can afford everything in the store and
then some. So it started off instance here in that sense,
because you can't act as though you're shocked by one
hundred and sixty dollars sweatshirt when you know every sweatshirt
in your closet is probably more than that. So she
(03:09):
started off acting like she's one of us, and I
think that is the biggest problem because it starts on
a complete false pretense.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Okay, that is fair and open for criticism. There. Now
she goes into and goes again, she's given the tour
around the store and like you said, a guest at
some of these prices. But this is a eighteen twenty
minute video, is it not? And it is to her
YouTube channel, which is a well followed channel, Is it not?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Uh? Yeah, she's got a million two point seven million
followers on Instagram on YouTube, of course, it just popped
off on me. But she's got millions of followers period.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
So she is the oldest eight she's the oldest grandchild.
Thought he had some she's the oldest. She's the oldest grandchild,
the grandchild of the president, the daughter of Donald Trump Junior,
and she's the one, I guess became kind of a hit.
She spoke at the RNC.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Correct, she's a golf phenom as well. A lot of
folks know that she's done really well in the golfing world,
so she's she's one of probably i'd say she is
the most prominent grandchild of President Trump, and certainly, yes,
the oldest. She's gorgeous by the way to boots, so
I'm sure that gets a lot of attention as well.
But yeah, she has one point four to six million
subscribers on her YouTube channel. And it's interesting because we
(04:24):
mentioned the title I brought My Secret Service to Erewon,
which of course pissed off a lot of folks because
they're not hers, they're actually the United States taxpayers. And
to think that our tax money is now being used
so that she can make YouTube videos at expensive grocery stores.
You can just imagine how much that has pissed people off,
given the times we're in with rising grocery store prices,
(04:47):
rising gas prices, oh yeah, and that war in Iran.
It is tone deaf at best. And so she changed
the title when the backlash started to I tried the
World's mostly Expensive grocery Store. However, interestingly, when I googled it,
it's still you can. You can actually view the video
with both titles. So I brought My Secret Service to air.
(05:09):
One is still readily available with that title for anyone
to see.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
So the titles aside robes even if it had the
most innocent title possible. I think some of the some
of the video it was in which she seems to
quite comf well ect. I don't want to characterize it,
but the scene is showing her, in a sense, getting
(05:35):
into a car a very dramatic way, all of these
Secret Service guys. Look at all these people, look at me,
Look at how I'm being taken care of in such
a way that it seems it is self indulgent. I'll
take the times out of it. It's still as innate.
I'm trying not to. I don't know this young lady,
she's a kid, and kids make mistakes, and I want
to leave room for that, and she's going to make
(05:56):
plenty more. I don't know who's around her who could
have talked to her about this, but there is no way,
no matter how big of a fan you are of
this young lady's that you look and go. Good job
and posting this right now. This was a miss.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yes, because you make a good point. It's not just
the title, and she changed the title, but it didn't
change the content and it didn't change where she was headed. Look,
she was acting like an eighteen year old kid, just
like my nineteen year old. Facetimed me and said, Mom,
you wouldn't believe this store, so I actually will will
meet her at that. Yes, this is a store that
(06:33):
is overpriced and is famous because of it. But I
will say this, my nineteen year old did buy one
of the twenty one dollars Haley beeble Hey Hailey Bieber's
smoothies that you actually see Kai Trump drinking at the
end of this. But that's all she bought because that's
all she could afford. You see Kai Trump putting in
hundreds of dollars of items that are overpriced that she
(06:56):
doesn't need in her shopping cart and buying them and
saying I can I can't believe I bought all this.
I'm going to go bankrupt. You can't say those types
of things when your last name is Trump and expect
people to be entertained, because it's offensive at a certain point.
And that's what she's not understanding.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
And that is where I want to give her space.
I read so much about her before I watched the video,
and my tone certainly changed when I saw the video
because what I saw Robes was a kid. I saw
a kid bragging about what she had. I saw a
(07:37):
kid showing off. I saw a kid floss and I
saw a kid say look at me. I saw a
kid with means, with access, with stuff that she knows
you wish you had. I saw her behave as if
her last name was not Trump. So I want to
give her a little space for being the kid that
we see screw up all the time. We see it
(08:00):
all the time. Now her name is Trump. Now there
are also examples what Prince Harry, We want to use
that as an example. They're clearly a big name as
you come up, as you age and have to be
so famous, you still screw up and you're a kid
every once in a while.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, for something you didn't earn, so you didn't put
in the hard work, you didn't really struggle to have
all this access, And that would that would read too
for Prince Harry. To your point, I think that might
be an interesting example. Not the same, but yeah, I
mean it's not quite the same. We also saw Prince
Harry out there being philanthropic and fulfilling princely duties and
(08:39):
actually enlisting in the military and all sorts of other
responsibilities that came with that role. You have Kai Trump,
And look, she doesn't have the same title. It's not comparative,
but she certainly needs better people around her to guide
her because this kind of thing stings, and she didn't
intend for it to, but it actually it actually stings.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Maybe she will learn something from it, maybe she will apologize,
maybe she will explain. I want to leave room for
her being a kid who might have messed up royally
and this pissed off a lot of people, and that
anger is understandable. That anger is understandable when you're trying
to pay your bills, when your child is overseas when
(09:24):
you are jumping at every bit of news about the
war because you're waiting for word on something Robes. That's
we are hurting in a lot of ways in the country,
and she made a mistake, an awful one that has
an impact on politics, on every debate. Why are we
talking about an eighteen year old in the context of
(09:45):
the war in Iran?
Speaker 2 (09:47):
People are calling her Marie Antoinette. People are saying this
was her let them eat cake moments, and it actually
it does land tonally, that is a little bit how
it felt given the times we are in.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Yes, one hundred percent. I just I do not have
a defense of that video still being up. I don't
have a defense of her making that. I have nothing
to say, well the videos okay from an editorial content standpoint, no, no, no, no,
no no. The only thing I can say is she
is eighteen years old, and eighteen year olds with with
(10:20):
unearned assent, if you will, screw up a lot.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
But maybe someone should guide her into taking that down
because it is still up and it is still you know,
it was collecting. I don't know how they did this.
I don't know how YouTube works necessarily, but there were
a growing number of dislikes, and people were counting them
because they took it down, but they said they were
up to twenty thousand dislikes, and so they were able
to at least remove that. But this thing is a
(10:46):
cruing comments and a cruing views. And look, maybe there is,
in her opinion, no such thing as bad press. Irwan
is getting a ton of Airwan sorry, is getting a
ton of press right now, but none of.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
It's goes the thing I didn't think about until this moment.
When you talk about somebody or better people in her ear, sweetheart,
isn't this right in line with the family she's promoting herself.
She said something or did something that pissed people off
a little bit, and whatever you do, don't apologize. So
(11:21):
you talk about somebody else in her maybe they think
this is a good move, this was a good thing,
or that she didn't do anything wrong, And you can
argue that she didn't. She went to a store, she
entertained her own audience about whatever product this was in
the store, and that's it. She's doing her thing that
she I don't know robes.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Meantime, people are talking about how they had to in
the regular grocery store put down the ground beef they
needed for their family because it was too expensive, or
they had to put away that extra bit of ice
cream that they were hoping to bring home to their
kids because the grocery bill was too hot.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
You know.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
So this is the perative that folks are looking at.
And I told you one of them. One of the
comments just simply quoted Kendrick Lamar, they not like us.
They're not like us.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Stay here. Rhodes has collected some of those comments and
we will get through those here in just a second. Also,
air air Airwan is spelled e R E w h
O N, but it's air one.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
You're not supposed to know because it's not for you.
Oh I look at it. Even the name is just
out of reach.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
So yes, when we come back, we'll get the spelling
right of air won and tell you what this story
is all about in their own words.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Stay here, Welcome back, everyone to this episode of Amy
and TJ, where we are talking about the oldest grandchild
of President Donald J. Trump, Kai Trump, eighteen years old
(13:02):
and is getting a lot of hate, a tremendous amount
of online bashing negativity, all based on this YouTube video
she put up a couple of days ago. Now she
changed the name, the content stayed the same. Essentially, she's
going to what's considered the most expensive grocery store in
Los Angeles. It's called air One, where she is can't
(13:27):
believe how much everything costs, and yet racks up a
couple hundred bucks buying a few things, including a Hailey
Bieber smoothie that cost twenty one bucks, and talking about, oh,
I'm going to have to file for bankruptcy, this is
so expensive, but giggling and laughing as she tries all
the overly priced products.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
It seems like a video you would expect from an
eighteen year old kid. However, her last name is Trump
and where it wore? And obviously this didn't land.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Well, no it did not, So TJ asked, what the
hell is Airwon? And as I mentioned, I only know
of it in recent months because of my nineteen year
old daughter at college. Apparently people talk about this, so
it's in the age bracket. You can understand these teens
all trying to get a taste or get a look
at these expensive organic products. But this is what Airwan says.
(14:14):
It is in Airwan's own words, Airwon is more than
a store. We are a community of people who are
united in our love for pure products that protect the
health of people and our planet. At Airwan, we believe
that nutrition is the key to a radiant lifestyle. Through
our markets, we endeavor to provide exceptionally organic products that
(14:36):
inspire good decision making and healthier communities. I don't even
know what that means. I actually don't know what I
just read.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
In other words, all they had to put in there
was it's not for you.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
If you have to ask how much it costs, you
can't afford it.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Look, I know that, but they do focus. It's a
very specific it's just not Yes, stuff is marked up,
but it's not just for no reason. Some of this
stuff is whatever. It's fancy stuff.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Okay, fine, it's the best that money can buy.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Oh, we're the locations here. It's all in southern California,
but here just giving an idea. Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Culver City,
the Grove of Manhattan Beach, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Studio City, Venice, Palisades,
West Hollywood, Thousand Oaks. You get the idea.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You know, we're gonna have to walk into one. The
next time we're in California, let's do a video just
to say, oh my god. No. Okay, so I mentioned
at the top of this episode that I mean, I
genuinely could not find one kind comment. Maybe it's in there.
There are almost seven thousand comments, at least on her
YouTube channel that still has her original title to it.
(15:41):
It was nothing but negativity, and some of them really
did stand out. For instance, I'll just read a couple
of them for you. Your family is literally setting the
world on fire. Read the damn room. Another one, Grandpa,
Grandpa killing innocent children. Enjoy your fifty dollars smoothie.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Though again to the same we get it.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Kai trolls the pores while Grandpa bombs girls school in
your own that's a tough one. Everything's crazy, expensive, hilarious
coming from you. Bubble Baby continues to live normal life
as grandfather destroys the country. Okay, let the meat cake,
but actually bankruptcy jokes while people are actually filing for
(16:25):
bankruptcy because of what's going on currently when we all
know she isn't gotta love it. You can't make this
shit up. I'm gonna need to file for bankruptcy. Looks
like it runs in the family. Three laughing emojis, uh
dumb bomb. Yes, probably one of the most out of
touch video titles ever.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Okay, now that might be some uh some truth to
that one.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yes, I love that my taxes are funding this instead
of school lunches.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yes, right, I mean, you can't do always comparative suffering.
But you're asking for this if your last name is
Trump and.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
You're touting your secret service detail scouting.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
Yes, I wasn't how many vehicles in her motor cave
for an eighteen year old kid to go to the
store and make a video in which she's promoting herself
stuff you can't.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Have and that? Yeah, this one, how about you do
a vlog from Iran next? There were a bunch of them.
It's just they all say the same thing, basically saying
she should be drafted. She's eighteen years old. You and
Baron should be enlisting, You should be fighting your grandfather's war,
all of that. There was a lot, a lot, a
lot of stuff about how she should be drafted. But
(17:38):
this one said, the comments calling her out is giving
me hope for the younger generation.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I don't know, Roobes, I just criticism your public face.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
It comes, it comes with the terrorities.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
I don't know how to that's I don't know how
to be or ask anybody to be kind, necessarily to
this young lady. But to criticize it's fair. You can
and the people's anger, genuine anger, is authentic and you
can't take away from that in the least bit. But
she did it, she did it to herself. You put
it out there, she's keeping it out there. And to
your point earlier, Rhodes, no press is bad press in
(18:14):
some people's minds. Maybe she doesn't think she did a
thing wrong.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
If she did, she would have taken the video down.
And I think there's your answer. Look, I get it,
she's eighteen. I understand that is young. We don't give
people enough credit for the learning curve that so many
young folks are going through. But when you're eighteen, you
can be charged with the crime, you can go to
prison for the rest of your life, you can go
(18:38):
to war, you can vote. So you know enough, And
when you see these types of comments, don't just change
the title. Maybe recognize that this not only isn't bad taste,
it's in terrible timing. And those two things together. You
just have to acknowledge sometimes that you made a mistake.
Will we get that from Kai Tromp? Probably not, But look,
(19:02):
if she does read the comments, maybe she'll think a
little bit differently the next time she decides to post
a lock. We can only hope. But with that, everyone,
thank you for listening to us. I'm Amy Roebuck alongside TJ. Holmes.
We will talk to you soon.
