Iran has named the 56 year old son of recently killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei the country’s new supreme leader.  Mojtaba Khamenei is known to have close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard  and has been in charge of coordinating the military.  President Trump has already said Mojtaba would not be an acceptable choice and any new leader not approved by Trump would “not last long.”

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hey, the folks, it is Monday, March ninth, and Oran
has a new supreme leader with that welcome to this
episode of Amy and TJ. They didn't get the message
about regime change.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Apparently, Yes, and a new leader with the same name and.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
A mid warnings he will suffer the same fate.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Robes a week ago with the war started and we
were at war against Iran and it's supreme leader Ayatola Hamine.
A week and a half later, we're at war with
Iran and Supreme Leader Hamine. What's happening now? Younger so
thirty years the junior of his dad. Yes, folks, After

(00:55):
all that, it seems bizarre, quite frankly, that here we are,
we can into this war where yes, regime change was
said as a goal initially, that the regime robes, according
to this selection is intact, and it almost sends a
message to the US and Israel. Yeah, we're going about

(01:17):
our business as usual.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Oh yeah, this is defiance with a capital D. They
obviously have heard the warnings. They are obviously dealing with
a steady barrage of incoming missiles and attacks, and yet
they are still saying we're gonna do things our way, My.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Goodness, this is this is wild. So folks, well, yes,
we'll take you back. We're going to give you the
president's words and what he has said about regime change.
But we are getting word, yes, today, that this assembly
of experts, this group of clerics, has selected now as
the next Supreme leader of iran Ayatola most Hamane, who

(02:01):
is Robes, as you said, the son of the previous Iatola,
the previous supreme leader. And Robes again, what does the
United States? What does Israel do? Now? They have clearly
sent a signal that you can bomb the hell out
of this place. The regime main changes.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, we're gonna stay the same.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
We're going to have our way of life, whether you
like it or not, and we will rebuild again and
will continue to do business as usual the way we've.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Been doing it. And this is a man that a
lot isn't known about him.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
He's been described as being in the shadows of his
father's leadership, but certainly he by all accounts, has been
the guy who has been in charge of coordinating the military,
coordinating the intelligence operations. So he is deeply entrenched with
the Islamic Revolutionary Guard. He knows this country, how it
works inside and out. He has been by his father's

(02:55):
side throughout it all.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
He's been groomed. He has watched this job happy. And
very important thing that you mentioned, Robes, this guy, as
a supreme leader is in charge of everything. It's not
really a concept we understand here. We got a separation
of powers and church and state and all kinds of up. No, no, no,
he is everything there. But a very important note, Robes,
is that he has the backing of the Revolutionary Guards.

(03:18):
There are very powerful military forces within that country. He
served in the Revolutionary Guard. They put out statements in
support of him, pledging allegiance, i should say, is the
way they put it, en Robed. It's a big deal
that he is a guy that the military is like, hell, yeah,
we'll get behind him.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
And you think about what President Trump said to the
Iranians as we began bombing them and sending missiles into
their country. He said to the people of Iran, this
is your chance, stand up, take your country back. He
was encouraging all of those protesters that we saw that

(03:56):
Hamone's father.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Crushed and killed and imprisoned.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Now are you going to feel comfortable rising up and
taking your country back when hamone's very own son, who
has been in charge of the country, who has watched
all of this happened over the past months, are you
going to feel comfortable rising up the answers.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
No, they've been showing those pictures to your point, and
it's hard to get good, reliable information out of there.
They've shut down communications in large part. But we have
seen in the streets there were some people celebrating the
death of the former Ayatola, but then you also had
some folks upset and crying and mourning in the streets.

(04:38):
Some of that deemed propaganda, but some of those real
sentiments are there and around the world for what the
United States and Israel did and taking out this guy
so he is now in place. In Robes, there have
been some celebrations that are in support of this guy. Yes,
you still will see people upset about the regime, but Robes,
it feels like, what's happening now? When do we They

(05:00):
gave us four objectives the United States for this war.
On that list was not regime change, but they've been
saying it out loud. What do you do though, Rod?
Where was the press conference we watched and I said,
that was the most important question I've heard throughout this
whole thing. If you reach every one of your objectives
and the regime hasn't changed, then what correct?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Because if the whole point is to stop Iran from
trying to continue to amass enough of what they need
uranium enriched material to create this nuclear bomb, where these
long range missiles that could reach further into Europe, perhaps
even here to America. According to President Trump, that that

(05:41):
was in the works. How if you have the son
of the former Supreme Leader now at the helm, even if, yes,
you achieve all of your objectives, why wouldn't he just
continue his father's mission, continue what his father started. That
would be the idea. So what would be the whole
point of this.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
War unless you change the regime. Let's go back to
President Trump. These were his words on night one. He
made a speech you a member, was a recorded speech.
He was standing there by himself. He had this is
the one he had the hat on. I think that
said USA. But he gave that. He gave at the
end of his explanation for why We're going to war,

(06:22):
he had a message directly for the people of Iran.
In robes there's no mincing words here.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
This is about regime, James correct, He says, finally, to
the great, proud people of Iran, I say tonight that
the hour of your freedom is at hand. Stay sheltered,
don't leave your home. It's very dangerous outside. Bombs will
be dropping everywhere. When we are finished take your government,
it will be yours to take. This will be probably

(06:49):
your only chance for generations. For many years you have
asked for America's help, but you never got it. No
president was willing to do what I am willing to
do tonight. Now you have a president who is giving
you what you want. So let's see how you respond.
America is backing you with overwhelming strength and devastating force.
Now is the time to seize control of your destiny

(07:09):
and to unleash the prosperous and glorious future that is
close within your reach. This is the moment for action.
Do not let it pass.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
So far, we haven't seen an indication that the folks
of Iran in mass are taking him up on that offer.
Not yet.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
No, we haven't said look and look. The bombs are
still dropping.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
It is still wildly unsafe to be out in the
streets of Iran. The question remains, though, what happens when
the dust does settle? And now with Halmone at the helm,
his own son, it doesn't seem like anything would change
unless that changes. And that is what the promise has
been from President Trump and from Israel. If a leader

(07:52):
was chosen who was unacceptable to them, Trumpsai he wanted
to be a part of the decision.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
So the line was, if we aren't involved in picking
the next leader, he probably won't last long. Is the
line that he used. That's a direct threat.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
He will not last long.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
How Robes, could we imagine that the new Haminae who
was now only the third Ayahtola, that they've had the
third supreme leader in their history since nineteen seventy nine
of the Islamic Revolution. But Rodes, how is this guy?
How would you ever anticipate this guy? Now? Sure, I'll
sit down and talk with the United States. Sure, let's

(08:31):
sit down and work something out after you all just
bomb my country, kill my dad, kill my mom, kill
my wife, kill my family.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Is killed my son? Really? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Is he willing to sit down right now?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Well I read that too, and I thought, my goodness,
just get your head around that yes, his country is
in ruin.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Right now, in rubble in, a lot of it. But
to imagine losing.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Your father, your mother, your wife, and a son, all
at the hands of the United States and Israel, well,
that is.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
I can't even get my.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Head around the anger, the emotion, how you would feel,
just on a personal level, forget your country, forget the
pride and all of that. This is so deeply personal
for him right now. There is no way in hell
he is laying down his arms.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
What would you like me to do? United States? Israel?

Speaker 2 (09:23):
How do you think we should run our country? That
absolutely is beyond far fetched.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
It's far fetched, and Israel has flat out said it
ain't going to happen. Yes, we've gotten some tough words
from President Trump, from Secretary Hegsath, but Israel stay here
find out why they ain't messing around. We continue here

(09:53):
on this Monday, March ninth, on this day, just over
a week after the Iran War started, just a week
after Supreme leader there was killed. They have a new
Supreme leader and well it's a Hamine junior. It is
the son of the Supreme leader, same name, same family,
and a lot of people will tell you the same

(10:13):
mindset and the same same brutal regime is continuing right now.
Trump said this is a no go, right, yes, afterward
they sit. When the name started floating around, and I
guess it's been several days he's been seen as the
front runner, but the President flat out came out and said, no,
that's no good.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, he's been He was asked specifically if his son
were to be named the new Supreme leader, how that
would go down, And yes, he has said he won't
last long period, end of story.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
And look, there will most certainly be a part of.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Iran that will be upset about this decision because this
just means more of the same everything they've been through,
the protests that were happening, the fact that American Israel
came in and was telling the people, hey, you're now
going to get your chance of freedom, You're now going
to get your chance at figuring out who you want
to run this country. That all was completely shut down

(11:07):
when Iran just now voted to bring his son in
as leader.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
This is the man who I believe they say.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
At least the number was around seven thousand folks were
just killed recently for rising up for protesting against this regime,
and now you've got more of the same.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Right now, in the midst of this war.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
It's something about more of the same in the regime continuing.
We kind of maybe expected that there was something about, oh,
the same family, the same name. Even there was something
about that that made clear that it seems like Iran
is like, like you said, poking, like it seemed like
an intentional dig at Israel in the United States. Not

(11:51):
only is the regime continuing, We're gonna pick the son
of the guy you just killed.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
My goodness, and the son of the guy that you
just called you also killed pretty much every member of
his family.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Why out his family? Now he is the one in charge.
We talk about vengeance. We've been talking about vengeance on
our side, right We're going to avenge the deaths of
American avenge things that they've done to us in the past.
But ropes, I mean, how Hamonae he's had this job
not twenty four hours? The new guy, how long is
he going to happen?

Speaker 2 (12:20):
See that's and that just means how long is he
going to live? How long is he going to survive?
He won't be ousted from power, he will be killed
and targeted, and you know that I can't even imagine
being him. I guess at this point, if you've lost
pretty much most everyone you love, you might have nothing
to lose. So it's it's it's frightening to think what

(12:41):
he might be willing to do or what he's capable of,
because he truly has nothing to lose at this point.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
And it is fascinating how they are able to function,
how they are able to stay alive right now and
for how long. But it's mean Israel, even before I
think the Sun's name started being floated around, they flat
out gable warning to anybody who wanted this job. And
I said, Robes that you look at the job description,
who wants that gig? When Israel is saying whoever gets

(13:08):
this gig, good luck, they thought out said whoever gets
the job is immediately going to be a target for
being taken out. They said, that is their stands going
to change. I haven't seen anything this morning that they've
evolved from that, thinking, Oh, I.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Would only imagine this is going to That was rhetoric perhaps,
or that was a threat perhaps at one point.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Now they actually have to follow through on that threat.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
And I will say We've said this plenty of times
when President Trump, and we've even heard Carolyn Levin say this,
when President Trump says he's going to do something, believe him.
And so they have made it very clear how they
feel about this. Just last week, in fact, President Trump
was saying so many of the leaders had been killed
in Iran. They were saying dozens and dozens of these
religious leaders were all killed. He said, pretty soon, we're

(13:55):
not going to know anybody, because they're all going to
be gone. But they asked him, the press specif asked
President Trump about a worst case scenario in Iran?

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Had he prepared for it?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
And he said, I guess the worst case would be
we do this and somebody takes over who's as bad
as the previous person. Right, that could happen. We don't
want that to happen. He literally said that, what, So now,
what do we do? So now it's worst case scenario.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Now things have been changing, the reasons the justification has
been changing regime is it no pete hexas specifically, this
is not a regime change war. Marco Rubio is saying
one other thing the president has been changing. So it's
just not clear. And Robes This is a big, big,
big deal that we went to war with this country

(14:40):
because of an imminent threat they posed as a regime,
We do all this and the regime doesn't change. Where
does that leave us with this.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
War exactly where we started?

Speaker 2 (14:50):
I mean, obviously, they've taken out some of their capabilities
in terms of weaponizing a lot of what we've been concerned,
and we've clearly put a massive dent in their ability
to fight back. But in just a matter of time
I mentioned time, they'll be able to rebuild. They would
be on the same path, on the same mission. And

(15:13):
certainly anybody who has risen up or who has even
celebrated in the streets, I'm sure they're very nervous right now.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Folks, just wanted to give you this Monday morning update.
But this is a big, big deal. This just happening
today in Iran state media there reporting that they have
in fact selected a new Supreme leader who has the
same name as the old one because it is his son.
Fifty six year old Ayatola mosh Tapa Hamane is now
the new Supreme leader. How will Israel and the United

(15:43):
