Speaker 1 (00:01):
And that's what you really missed with Jenna and Kevin
and I heart radio podcast, Welcome to You, and that's
what you really missed. The sectional episode. Jenna's on her
a one voiceover game today. That was really beautiful. I
(00:24):
just got my teeth clean, so I feel fresh. Yeah,
just enunciates, show those teeth off. This is the fall finale.
This is we didn't know if we were coming back
show when we filmed this, this whole the tone of
this episode, um when I of what I remember of
(00:45):
it is very like nostalgic and very like emotional, because
we didn't know if we were coming back, so I
think everything was like this could be the last. Ironically,
it was definitely not the last. There were scenes that
I remember watching it. There were scenes that I remember
reading for the first time, and it felt sort of bittersweet.
(01:11):
I can't believe we got this far. Doing thirteen episodes
felt monumental. I had never done more than one or
two episodes of a TV show before, and it was
just really really cool because like we read it like, well,
this all feels great, this feels right, could be the end.
And it was directed by Brad Felchuk, which felt like
(01:33):
you know, there was this like full three sixty moment happening. Um,
coming back around to like one of the creators. Um,
we reflective of like seeing how far all the characters
had come and all the songs we had performed. Yes,
it was a big deal to us. It was a
big deal, all right. So this episode aired on December nine,
(01:57):
and um, we are still in the Empire state of
mind number one song and the Blindside number one movie. Okay,
what happened in the Glean news cycle this week? Kevin? Okay,
so we sort of got nominated for four Golden Globes.
No big deal. This was a big deal. This was
a very big deal. We lost our minds. We did
(02:19):
lose our minds. Is very exciting. There was lots of buzz.
I don't think I was prepared for any of the
stuff in the press and everything that we would be
going through. But um, it was a big deal. It
was just really exciting. This felt very like a tangible
thing where you know, you get numbers and oh, eight
(02:42):
million people watched this episode. The songs are doing really well,
but it still feels really removed and something like the
Golden Globes that like we had grown up watching all
of a sudden, we're now a part of like this
now like hit TV show, Hollywood reality thing, and this
was very beginning, weird and tangible. No, you're right, you're
(03:04):
actually very right, and this was like the beginning of
all of it. This is like being shot out of
a cannon. Understanding the award season and all of it.
Just it's a crazy, crazy circuit. Glee won five awards
at the fourteenth Annual Satellite Awards UM Christie Channel, with
one for Best Outstanding Guest Star. Leah was one for
(03:26):
Best Actress, Jane one for Best Supporting Actress, and Matt
Morrison won for Best Actor. So here was named this
Entertainers of the Year and had Matt and Leah and
Corey on the cover m which was very cool. I
do remember that. And then UM Glee Season one, Volume one,
(03:47):
The Road to Sectionals was released on DVD when DVDs
were still yeah, streaming did not exist, So this UM
was the midseason break and Glee did not come back
again for the back nine to air until April. So
we went from December night till April two ten, which
(04:07):
is crazy because we didn't go off, you know, we
didn't go away. We didn't go off air, we didn't
do all that. We were working the whole time. Well,
the break that we had was sort of our promo
break where we didn't know if we were coming back yet.
We had to go out and um promote the first
(04:28):
thirteen as that's like, we went to Australia, we did
the Hot Topic tour. That was our break. It was
at the very beginning of the season when um It
actually started airing, and then we came back at some
point I think in the late fall, right right. I mean,
do you remember like going home for the holidays then,
because that was the that was a huge difference of Yeah,
(04:50):
we we went back to do like your normal things
and all of a sudden, there's people coming up. You're
not normal anymore. Yeah. I remember going ice skating UM
in Dallas with like my family and people were coming up.
I'm terrible at ice skating, so it was already embarrassing,
and then people kept coming up to me and I
had like my little nieces and that few with me,
(05:11):
and it was so like how protective they got very
quickly like why all these people talking to him that
it's so annoying. I'm like no, it's fine, it's nice,
don't worry. I remember going home m being able to
buy my family really nice Christmas gifts because we were
finally talking to me about this. Yes and um no,
(05:34):
it was just exciting to be able to take your
parents out to dinner and like be like I got it,
and you know, buy them good kids and like and
then also like seeing all your high school friends and
being like I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. We just
got drunk. It's fine. Um, but it's weird. It really exciting.
(05:57):
It was really excited. Everybody was just like super excited
because it was like the big hype. They're like, I
can't believe it. So and I mean my parents hated that.
I think I don't know if they did this year
or the next year. But we went out for like
a big Christmas Eve dinner and I would try to
on the slide, just pay for it. Yeah, And it
meant a lot to me to be able to do that,
(06:18):
and that, you know, because of my parents, Like you
have to save all your money, you keep be doing this,
you pay for me for twentysomething years. Let me do
this one thing. It's fine. My favorite Italian restaurant that
we go to for Christmas Eve when it was still
up on Christmas Eve was Vincent's Clambar in Garden City,
and we would like it's a sorry tradition. Now we
eat it all the time when I go home. And
(06:39):
they gave me like a little plaque on the tables,
like the New York Islanders got little plaques on the tables,
and I felt very special, and they wanted me to
take a photo with the owners. I've done a couple
of those, and um, every time they gave me like
a jar of sauce and like either take care of
dinner or take care of like, you know, a ton
of the meals. And it was just always like it.
It was our favorite place. But that's when you started
(06:59):
feeling like the yeah, you know, you're like, oh, people
are noticing, people are well, you know, the little local place.
Maggiano's and TLAs did not do that for me. But
it's fine Clambar, what a stap alilens table us delicious?
All right, So should we get into this episode. Yeah,
(07:21):
let's go for it. Okay, all right, this is the
Road Sectionals or Sectionals, and this has all of the
songs that we've seen before, except for a new couple
of surprises like you can't always get what you want
and my life it's like without you, which I love
that song. Um, we've got our guest stars Michael Hitchcock,
(07:45):
Eve and the judges. M hmm, that's right. And we
get to see, you know, some of our songs that
we've already done, done by other people. And you get
to see Amber doing and I'm telling you for the
first time pre winning an Olivier Award for playing Effie
(08:07):
in the West End, which I got to see. Also,
how how crazy that was? Wild? Um, I watched that
last night. We can talk about it and de cried.
So it's wild. It's a wild ride. Um. This is
the thirteenth episode. The Fox promo for this episode says,
(08:27):
the phenomenon that has made America Sing brings you an
unforgettable fall finale, guaranteed to make you cheer. You're welcome.
I have to say that was very good. But seeing
these promos and I know it's all hype and they're
just like trying to convince people that the show is
probably more successful than it really is. But you know,
(08:50):
being an avid TV consumer growing up and being a
part of a show that all of a sudden is
advertised like this was very surreal. It was very cool,
very surreal. There was everything that was happening at that
time was so unbelievable, very big, right. And this is
also around the time I had one of my best
(09:12):
friends justin I remember him being like, do you know
what's happening? Like can you feel the effect of the show?
Do you have any sense or awareness? And I was
like yeah, and he's like, no, you don't, right, Yeah,
maybe I don't. I don't think we could ever experience whatever,
but people outside experience yeah, because wrap my head around it.
(09:35):
But getting those Golden Globe nominations and having the ratings
sort of start to soar, it did start to have
a really big cultural impact. Now and I think from
now until when we come back on the air, we
were I remember being worried about, like are people going
to come back and watch it? It only sort of
(09:56):
grew in anticipation. So this whole episode was set all
that up. But anyway, new directions go to sectionals and
this is some big ship happening. We have baby Gate,
we have some where Will and Terry's marriage and so
(10:17):
maybe finally getting caught. M you know, m h finally,
my goodness. I think it's easier to just go through
this episode as is this this week, because it kind
(10:38):
of all intertwines and is like wrapping everything upste So
in the beginning, Rachel is suspicious of Puck Um and
Quinn because when Quinn slips um, Puck rushes to quinside
and everybody's like, because everybody else knows in the glee
club that Puck is the baby daddy, but they don't
(11:01):
want to tell Rachel because obviously we know who she's
gonna who. She'll trout mouth, which is this is the
birth of trout mouth, real trouting mouth, Mr Cordy Um,
and you say already says that she's a total trout mouth,
and chill tell Finn. I remember Rachel, what's happening you?
(11:26):
You are the most vocal about Rachel in the Black Club.
I feel like already is definitely like says it how
it is. Um. I mean we all kind of said
how it is, to be honest, we're all very crass. Um. Uh. So.
I remember shooting this telephone scene and getting a little
like nervous because I had to move switch the phone
(11:49):
we weren't really talking to you obviously, and so there's
all this stuff and you're walking, and Andrew Mitchell's walking behind,
like backwards with us, and we're walking down the hallways.
If you don't get it right, you gotta do it again.
And I was like, hu, it was one long walk
and talk and squishing three people into one frame on
(12:11):
the camera was also very hard. They're like, you guys
got to get closer together. We're like, we're walking. But
it was so brilliant how they edit it so it
looked like not everybody was together and there was. It
was and I'm going party line. Yeah, this is also
a really big moment. And I don't even know if
(12:33):
at the time when they wrote this, if it was
more anything more than just a joke. But when Santana's like,
sex is not dating, and then Britney's like, if it
were Santana and I would be dating, and everyone pauses.
So good, and then it carries on. Yeah, it was
very good. Um, So Emma tells Mr Shoe that she
(12:57):
pushed back her and Ken's wedding so she can make
it to sectional and Ken doesn't have to happen in
broad daylight it's it's yeah. She lies, she lies. She
was saying that it's Ken took it really well, cut
to Ken not taking it well. So we mark that
for later in the episode. And that's right, that's right,
(13:19):
um so, and then we go to Rachel freaking out
um Quinn by asking about the genetic testing up to
no good. So Quinn goes to Park and says that
he has to get tested because it's something it's wrong.
It won't go the plan won't go in um the
way it's supposed to, because the whole thing is is
(13:41):
that the testing has to be for a Jewish baby.
And so she's saying, well, if if she gets worried
about this and goes to Puck, then Puck's the baby daddy, right,
that's her whole master plan, right, okay, all right? Then Mr.
She was the choir room giving them like a pep talk,
(14:02):
saying MS his replacement for sectionals, and oh my god, Brittany.
Brittany says, she's the one that made me talk. They
made me talk to you, and they found out I
was keeping that bird in my locker. There's a lot
of bird jokes. We have had bird jokes throughout the season.
I like a lot of bird jokes. Yeah, and this
(14:24):
is where things It still doesn't sit right with me,
this whole Mercedes thing. So Mercedes asked Mr Shoe about
the set list and he can't help them with it,
and they have to figure it out. And at this point,
it's like, how did they not know the set list
what they were doing? Yeah, at this point, hasn't the
(14:44):
set list already been leaked? Like we know what's happening.
You know, I don't even know that we asked those
questions at that point. We absolutely did not. I can
guarantee you we did not. And then Mercedes is mad
because they have to have like a solo number, a ballad,
(15:06):
and Rachel's assuming it's going to be her, and then
Mercedes is piste off about it. And then this is
one of my favorite things that the show does. Or
Mercedes like, I'm willing to prove this to you that
I can do this, And all of a sudden, we
see her talking to somebody and it's a full band
with horns and strings, which we justly have No, it's
(15:29):
never been seen before. They're just sitting in there. She says,
don't address it. Band keeping, Um, this is the scene.
I don't know why this is so memorable to me,
but she's like Rachel says, um, do you think you're
the best balladeer? And Mercedes is like turns to all
of us and goes, what the f is a balladeer?
(15:51):
I don't know, I don't know. Wait, was that this episode? Yes,
this is the episode where the famous Dijon moment happened.
He says, I don't know, I don't know. It's like
Dejan's online and we let me tell you, we use
that amongst ourselves for years. I don't know, years, but
(16:13):
I love that. What's a ballot here? I don't know. Well,
there's so many moments of Mercedes, like the past couple
of episodes where she is sort of like we're all
against like Rachel look and Mattress like, yeah, you go
take the yearbook photo and she's sort of rounding up
the kids. And it's happened earlier in the season as well,
where she's always sort of turning back and being like
(16:33):
guys or it feels like she's sort of our de
facto leader within the choir room because we're all behind her.
Yea feels like it's right. Um so Mercedes does, and
I'm telling you I'm not going this number. I mean,
this was like you saw how ham she was going.
(16:55):
She did this like every time we watched it or
she shot it. She was going for it. And in
the recording studio I remember her saying at the end
after recording it, she literally like almost fainted because it's
such a hard number. Um. She did an amazing job.
That was real life us cheering and hooting and hollering.
(17:18):
That was definitely us actually responding to Amber singing a song,
because obviously that's what it is. But also I got
to see Amber do this um in twenties fifteen sixteen,
one of those um in on the West End in
and it was jaw dropping it. It's amazing, I mean
(17:41):
truly amazing. They do listen to this. I mean this
is one of those moments where none of us were
acting like you see tears in Chris's eyes like it
was we were so proud. Yeah, it was unbelievable to like, oh,
we know someone who can pract this right right that
Mike drop. I also did notice too, or I could.
I could be nitpicky, but when she's doing some of
(18:03):
the runs, the really complicated runs, at the end, she's
covering her face with her hair. She's like going down
and I was like, oh, she doesn't know the run.
She probably did a bunch and she probably didn't know
what what happens. I vaguely remember her telling me that
where she's like, I don't know which version of the run,
so I'm just gonna that's how good she is. She's like,
(18:24):
let me just try a bunch of them and then
you pick the best one. Oh my god. Okay. Rachel
obviously agrees that she should do the ballot. Do the ballot,
be the ballot, do the ballad so um. Finn tells Rachel.
He's like, yeah, that was pretty cool. That must have
been also, um hard to do. In this intimate moment, um,
(18:49):
Rachel decides, Okay, well you can't. I'm not going to
sit back and watch you suffer. Um and she says,
when you care about someone, you can't sit around and
watch them suffer when you know you can do something
about it. Well, Rachel, okay, um. She decides to teal
Finn about Quentin Puck and you know, this is one
of those moments where she should have had a friend
(19:09):
like Jenna. I said, this is not your story to tell.
Is not your story to tell? That is right. Rachel
broke the cardinal rule. This is not your story to tell.
And and with that we cut back to the choir
room where there's a big fight going down and um,
(19:30):
finn Is is punching uh Puck and this was stunt
doubles right, yeah, but also like Puck didn't really suffer
any bruises. Afterwards, he like just fine for sexual uh,
and Quinn's crying in between them and he's like, tell
(19:52):
me if it's true. And obviously we get to see
some of the Coreys and Diana is amazing acting chops
in the scene, and you just like, are so compelled
by Corey. I'm just like every time you watch him
do something like that, you're like, I believe you one
thousand percent right now. Yeah, He's so good, so good.
(20:14):
So Finn's does his normal starm out, but this is
a bit more dramatic, and he says, screw this done,
I'm done. I'm done. He's done, and we are downically
club member and remember we have to have twelve. So
then Rachel Rachel apologizes to Quinn, and Quinn asked Rachel
(20:35):
to leave, and then put comes in to like comfort
her and says like he wants to be a good father. Um,
but she's like, nah, I want to do this on
my own. And is also this is the moment where
I also realized that Puck's face looked completely Yeah, I'm
curious why they missed that. Maybe they just didn't want
(20:57):
to have bruises for sectionals, so they just chose to
have pu come out unscathed. Fans a big guy, but
he throws a weak punch, is what we're getting at.
He missed. He hit the floor a lot. So we
are going to sectionals finally, and we see the bus
that we all fought for and already is getting loaded
(21:18):
into the bus and oh my gosh, Jacob and Israel
shows up. He's replaced Finch and it's immediately next to Rachel,
which is very funny. Window. Um, Kevin, you said in
the bts of this that you're excited to go to sectionals.
We feel like we've been talking about it for ages. Yeah,
(21:41):
it was. That was where you know, mirroring the characters
in real life sort of happened where right, And yeah,
in real life we were growing as actors and friends
and co workers and becoming a real cohesive group and
learning all of these numbers, and the glee club was
doing the same thing, and it was all leading to
(22:01):
getting to perform on a real stage in a real theater.
And so in real life we just got to go
to Glendo and performed this at the Alex Theater. That's right,
this is our first big competition. Um, this was like
by the time we got to season four, three or four,
we like, we're like, oh, sectionals, regionals, smoke Stig, we
(22:24):
got this, but this was like huge. This felt like
massive yet audience extras, judges, the whole thing. This was
also one of those things where Brad it was great
Brad feltchick was directing because this then laid the groundwork
for how we shot all of these competitions from here
on out. Because there were such big days, big theaters,
(22:46):
managing a lot of background actors and crew and us.
You couldn't get too creative. Things just needed to here's
how the day is going to go exactly. Yes, And um,
I think it was later we well about Brad Beaker
with his big white board of shot lists. Do you
remember that Brad Beaker would come in with this big
like poster board like presentation style and write all the
(23:09):
shots we needed and he would literally cross them off
with the marker every time we got one. Um, it
was kind of like yeah, yeah, it was satisfying and
also just very Yeah. It was that structured in methodical,
that's a good word. Okay, So we're we are excited
(23:34):
to be there, we are excited, and we find out
that we're going last. Do you remember this scene where
we're shooting in the in the little like lobby upstairs.
I remember shooting that so vividly in my brain that, Um,
that scene. I'm not sure why, maybe just because we
(23:55):
were on set, like on location. Yeah, this whole experience
seems like that. I remember being really excited for the
next scene of where I'm ramming myself into the wall. Yeah,
I don't know. It's still because we did two scenes
up here. We did the scene of um, we're feelings
that we're going last, and then we go watch then
(24:16):
perform and Jane Adams Academy does and I'm telling you
and proud Mary and um, so we know that the
set list has been leaked. Then we come back in
the same place and that's all right. He's ramming himself
into the wall and Emma is on a phone call
with Will telling him like, uh, this is what happened.
We need help. And I was so excited to do
(24:39):
that because I just thought that scene was hilarious, all
of us losing our minds in the background. That's right, Well,
that is true. We did get to play and it
was fun to have Jama as our like little leader. Yeah.
So Will, Will's pissed, right, He's like okay, but he's like,
I know just what to do. Um. So first she's
(25:02):
going to go confront and he says, you crossed the line.
I'm not gonna say idly by anymore. I'm going to
expose you for the fraud that you are um. And
Sue says, bring it on, William. I'm reasonably confident that
you will be adding revenge the long list of things
you're no good at, right next to being married. Um,
(25:26):
it's very good. Then Will says, don't And then Susy
running a high schoolglie club and finding a hairstyle that
doesn't make you look like a lesbian. I love you
like a sister. I love when Jane does think where
she's smiling, but it's like an evil smile because the
(25:46):
rest of that scene she's just like smiling and does
little kiss. It's um, you know, I was mad. Had
a really easy episode because he's doing phone acting the
rest of the episode. Until doing phone acting he did,
he had some pretty easy shots. He probably could have
done them all in one sitting and that would have
(26:08):
been yeah exactly. Jane came up with a lovely like
a sister line. I don't know, I don't think so
I'll just talk to her about that. Yeah, we'll have
to ask um so. And then Will it's like, I'm
going to go save the day. And he goes to
find Will sorry Finn in the locker room and gives
him a the good old Mr Shoe pep talk that
(26:32):
this was a nice circular moment from the pilot. He
goes back to the locker room, has his one on
one with him and now his status has really changed
in the school in terms of now he's a leader
of the glee club as well. M M, that's me.
Talks him into it and well, and Finn understandably he's
not having it, and he's like, well, sometimes it sucks
(26:54):
to be special, right, And no, I didn't own so
Finn takes him up and it's going to be the good,
good old leader that he is and show up and
and yeah, we hope. So Emma, sweet sweet Emma confronts
(27:17):
the other choir directors, satisfying is this. I mean it's
the cutest. She's just the cutest. Emma confronts the choir director.
She's like, I know what you did. That's my summary
of it. I know what you did. And then it
makes him feel really bad because it wouldn't have been
really special to be able to see them actually win
(27:39):
on their own, because they're talented enough to do it.
Educators stunned into silence. And then we see we here
don't stop all even done by the Haverrbrook and um
the choir a deaf choir, and there are audience members
with tears, tears, and everybody's very very upset. So Rachel
(28:00):
calls a good meeting and we're in the great scene.
Oh my god, this this scene sucked right to film. Yes, yes,
I think it's because we were in there for hours.
Were there, We were in there all day. It was
a full day in this one set and there was
(28:23):
no way I remember it was so hot and there
was no way to block it out because they built
this really great set and you sort of needed us
all spread out because it would have been easier to
shoot if we were all just in one position, but
because we were all different places, we had to turn
the camera exactly exactly. I remember this being a very
(28:44):
watching the scene. I think the scene is great likeness,
big scene. It's also it's an important scene, so I
get it now. I don't think back then I was
really as um understanding. But we're like, get us out
of year um. So Rachel calls a meeting and and
(29:06):
then she's like, no, Mercedes, you're supposed to do the ballot,
and Mercedes is like, no, Rachel, I was supposed to
do the ballot, but now you need to do it.
Why did she say you need to do it. I
don't remember the intention behind it. She's just saying, if
anyone could do a ballot on the fly, Rachel. What
I don't like is Mercedes having to be like your
(29:27):
the best singer, because they're both incredible in different ways.
And well, there's everybody right and yeah, but we need
to say it like that. I know, alright, So then
Finn come before Finn comes in. It's also a really
(29:49):
nice moment where like, uh, Santana, It's like oh yeah,
because they're saying like who leaked the set list? And
sim was like, look, if you tell anybody I said
this like a lie, but like I really like Glee Club.
It makes me happy. That was a really nice time,
(30:09):
Rachel saying like, I believe you. Yeah, it was. There
was a lot of bonding, trauma bonding going on in
this scene. Yeah. So Finn comes in like the good
guy and with a stack of sheet paper and it's like, look,
we got this, I have the song. I know what
(30:30):
we're gonna do and rounds up the best dancers and
it's like, we'll follow whatever you did, because we're good
when we're loose. He's pulling the Mr. Shoe and I
have goose bumps. It was so sweet. It wasn't like
him come in and save the day and also not
be fine with Puck and Quinn because Puck tries to like, hey,
(30:50):
are we cool and he's like, no, we're not, which
is also nice. Yeah, yeah, I know why would be?
So then we pop to New Directions performing form performing
Rachel's doing Don't Random My Parade from Funny Girl, which
is a full three six as well. How wild in
the same episode. I know that's right in Mercedes Amber
(31:11):
and Leah. That's really funny. Um, Leah kills this number
for the first time. We'll see this multiple times after UM,
you know in other seasons. But that's right. We did
do it on the tours. She did it at the Tony's. Um,
this was crazy. So this begins the rain don't random
(31:36):
parade but okay, so Rachel kills it. Leah kills this
number obviously, and then we get into the surprise number
that Finn has come up with that we so magically
figure out and look so synchronized and great doing It's
you can't always get what you want by the rolling Stones,
(31:57):
because Mr You says to Finn in the locker room,
sometimes you can't always get what you want planting the scenes.
I wonder if anybody caught that. I'm sure I mean
earlier though, like when he says that, when Will says it, that,
does anybody actually kept that? And I forgot what songs
(32:18):
we did in this and then We'll said it. I
was like, oh, yeah, that's what we did. I did too.
I thought this was the Journey. The Journey mash up
almost and then I was like, no, you're wrong, Ja.
And it's funny because I'm able to kind of distinguish
what numbers we did most of the time by the
dresses we were wearing, because that was I was able
(32:39):
to establish which competition show we were in, or where
we shot at, or what we were doing at the time. Um.
So I also thought it was interesting we don't show
what we do Somebody to Love as the last number.
I also think if you noticed, they don't ever show
the balcony in the theater, and we do that the
(33:01):
rest of the time. I think we might show the balcony.
I'm not sure, but I'm wondering. Yeah, gets like the
first two rows of the balcony and then they fill
out with those crazy little bubble actions. The blow up.
People didn't do that at this time, like maybe to
save the budget, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, And I
do think there were dummies in the last row of
the orchestra. Yeah, I think I do think there were
(33:22):
those blow up There were definitely dummies in this one,
because this is where um, isn't this for Dan? I
like bit it. Afterwards she ran up the aisle and
like fell, no, no, I think that was I think
that was regionals. Did you also notice that Leah had
a like a bandage on the side of her leg
(33:44):
or something in one of these and one of the
shots and the next shot it's gone, like she got
hurt or something. I don't know, she might have caught herself.
So then we're listening into the judges. We're trying to
figure out what the judges are saying. They're deliberating. Um.
Eve comes to apologize to us, which is also cool,
and like, I'm in the scene with Eve, I remember
(34:08):
that she was very nice, um. And it's like the
only time we had really met her. Um. And then
the judges Ana camp a camp was so good and
Rod Remington of course, and um uh it was I
mean the judge judges room is very funny, are very funny,
(34:31):
and it's always a funny bit also going on going
forward from these competition episodes about who are going to
be the judges and do they care? Most of them
they don't even really care. But it's a nice little
funny moment. But he tries to apologize to the judges.
Do you remember that, yes, And it's too late, It's
too late, right, Yes, I remember like being there and
(34:53):
filming that and trying not to laugh. Rod Remington wasn't
that the same day as the day we shot? It
was all that. That was all one set, so the
judges room, um, and then the green room, the very
long day set that was the same day. It was
the same set, and I remember being very smoky and hot.
(35:14):
But we were in that um that little like hallway
and I was like, how are we all going to
fit in this little hall way here? But we did?
And um, yes, Rod Remington is very funny and um,
Eve was like I remember seeing the pop print tattoo
on her like jazz and it's like it's like very iconomy.
(35:35):
I don't stare at her, don't stare at her. Boom. Yeah,
I was so star struck. I was. I had a
really hard time, which is like not surprising. Um. And
now Ian, Brad and Ryan are starting to wrap up
most of the season storylines obviously because this could be
(35:57):
the yeah, because originally this was the season one finale
and then Fox ordered the back nine to make a
complete twenty two episode season. So Mr Shoe goes home, well,
he's getting ready for Emma's wedding, and he tells Terry
that he doesn't love her anymore because she's like, I'm
going to therapy, I'm working on myself. And he's like,
(36:18):
I hope that works out for you, but like it's
not gonna work out good for you. And then when
he shows up about the wedding, he finds out that
can dumped Emma because of him. And here we go,
and I mean, I am a question this, you know,
(36:39):
hall that they have their wedding, And wasn't it supposed
to be a small wedding right? And yeah, it is
a big room and I'm just for dramatic. How long
was she sitting there? Two? Because like there's nobody there
and she's fully glammed up in her dress. How it
(37:00):
was he? Did he not get the text saying it's
called off? Everybody else did? Yeah, it was interesting. Maybe
maybe he wasn't going to the church. He was just
going to the reception, and nobody had made it to
the reception because they were all at the church where
maybe I don't know, it doesn't matter, so m I says,
(37:20):
and Will's like, well, you know you were doing it
for the kids, obviously, and she's like, yeah, I if
I was doing it for the kids, but I was
doing it for you and uh. And then Emma says
that she's leaving because of both Kennan one and she's like,
I can't look at him and I can't look at you,
(37:40):
and it's just it's all too much. It's all too much,
was like. And then she gets up and leaves, and
he looks sort of like he's like I just left
my wife and like stops her, and she's like, exactly,
that's why this can't work out. And there's like this
beautiful longing moment where she leaves and see him sit
(38:00):
with that and like, what am I gonna do? I
just want them to be together. I just want them together.
Um okay. And then and then we we shoot two
principal Figians telling Sue that she is no longer the
coach of the Cheerios for the set list and I've
genuinely felt scared face. I beg your pardon, I beg
(38:25):
your pardon. That was her. That was her response, Like completely,
how good is she because you've never seen her stunned
really and she's in full shock. She's just in It's dynamic,
it's dynamic. And then she says, which is I think
one of the most famous lines of the season. I think,
(38:46):
I don't. Do you think this was something that we
were most compelled by, or do you think this was
a very popular I don't know. There's no way enough,
but we love it. Says you're about to bore the
Sue Sylvester Spress destination hard hard Um. I thought was
(39:08):
incredible in the scene managing the big you know, wilds
sitting there and Shock and Sue was going crazy and
he for once, it's sort of stepping up and being like,
no this, I didn't believe it, and now I do,
and now I've seen it, and you're suspended from the school.
And then she's like, well, I'm going to go down
(39:29):
to Boka and get a tan uh huh. And Mr
Shoe was reinstated because he calls the board, the Ohio
State Board, and Sue's back A Shoe's back in. Sue
and Schue, Sue and Chou Um. So we find out
now and I had to actually remember. I was like,
did we win this one? I didn't remember either. Did
(39:51):
we win this um? And I was like, oh my gosh,
we won because I remember this scene when we hide
the drove. It also took so long, we don't find
what happened? I know, I know that was a weird one.
You're like, did they win? Um? And then we do
want life with stuck without you? Which I love this number.
And I don't know if everybody gets this number, but
(40:12):
this was ezact Wly, our choreographer and Brooke. Their idea
was to incorporate all of the like most iconic numbers
or dance moves or things that we did from other
numbers throughout the season. This was like a nod to
all of those for Mr Shoe and it was It
was really nostalgic because I was like, we remember looking
at everybody and being like, this could be it. This
(40:34):
could be the last number we ever do together. Did
you catch all the references? There was pushes, what single,
ladies hate on me? Say a little prayer? Uh not
my last name? Last name? Yes, last name. There were
the boys and girls mash up yep, that's right, yeah,
(40:55):
most of my hair I think most of the hair
one was in there as well. It was les sweet.
I really really liked that. It was a great way
to do that, and that was all Zack with And
then we get to the last and best scene that
was not originally scripted like this, Um, what they weren't
(41:16):
supposed to kiss originally? Oh, that's right. So that during
my life Let's Stuck Without You, it's cut up into
a montage between the kids dancing and Will running after
Emma actually's leaving the school. And then I think they're
originally just supposed to, like chase after look at each other.
(41:38):
And then Brad Falchuck said he pulled Matt aside and
was said, kiss Jama and to give her like an
authentic reaction. And so that was it. That was real.
I have challenge and that beautifully lit hallway and I'm
glad they used that one because that was And then
(41:58):
and we had to come back with is you have
to know if they exactly and then we have to
see regionals I mean, and that's it, and then we're
off the air for four months to come back. Oh
my gosh, fingers crossed. Okay, so let's do some Tardy takes.
Um we did do it. That is sectionals. Um Okay,
Kevin Tardy takes cringe moments A K A cheese? Oh wow?
(42:23):
What did I say? A k a auchiese? What is
your pick? I mean, I think j b I saying
I'm just trying to get into Rachel's pants is pretty suspect.
And also, um, the judges comments were pretty wild, like
I don't know how those deaf kids got in. They
weren't singing, they were like honking, and that's terrible. That's
(42:47):
Anna Camp's character. She's like, get off the stage. You're terrible,
and you're making peas comfortable. Her performance again was excellent.
Um I think Also, yeah, Rod Remingtons saying no hold
on a second candy, those havor Brook kids twice had
me reaching for my handkerchief, and those Jane Adam girls,
(43:09):
how'd it going on? In all the right Yeah, it
was not um worst worst dance move or best dance move.
I gotta say the call back to some of those
number those weird numbers in my life with Stuck without You,
like the push it humping that we did again we
(43:29):
had to see again, which was weird. I think on
the flip mode on the flip side or another note,
I don't know the saying. I think that was my
favorite because it was nice. It was nice to see
was wrapped into that last song and they did not
fit with the song, and it was great, fair enough.
What was your favorite songs song? Oh, my gosh, I
(43:52):
gotta say obviously, like I think. Um, the Rolling Stones
number is a great number. It didn't quite have the
effect on me that other numbers do have on me.
I will be honest. Maybe I would say right on
my parade, Yeah, I think, and I'm telling you and
right my Parade tie. Oh duh, that's right. Amber's number two. Okay,
(44:14):
so the two balladeers they win today Best performance by
prop m. Did you notice that Hitchcock had a pretzel
and it dropped in the middle of the scene. Did
it drop? I remember the pretzel. I just didn't see
it drop. That's funny. What about the trophy? Oh? Yeah,
the trophy? You're right, You're right? Um. Um. Should we
(44:34):
do some best lines real quick? Yeah, let's do it.
Let's do what's your favorite line? Sue? Uh running a
high school coolie club and finding a hairstyle that doesn't
make you look like a lesbian. I mean I think
that's that. And you're about to board the Susi Vester
Express Destination horror. I think those are again for Just
(44:56):
do it, Jenna. Let's talk about some should we found
on TikTok real quick talk to Connor. Hess Um posted
a TikTok of him saying, I watched GLEEZ so much
it burned into my TV screen. And so when the
TV it has like a blank screen, you see Glee
(45:20):
into the background. Stop. That's really good. I wish you'd
be like and we're gifting you a new TV, but no,
it we're not. Um. That's amazing and the fact that
you watch it that much is hilarious and that he's
that shot. Thanks for sending it in. Yeah, that's it,
