Laila Odom and Birgundi Baker join the ladies of Lip Service for an episode filled with dating confessions, relationship dealbreakers, career breakthroughs, and some unforgettable stories.

Laila addresses the backlash she received for admitting she prefers dating men overseas, opens up about her experience with dating apps and long-distance relationships, and reveals the petty moment that helped end one of her relationships. She also breaks down what she’s looking for in a husband and why any man interested in her needs to make his intentions known himself.

Birgundi reflects on spending eight seasons on The Chi, the emotional weight of portraying Keisha’s kidnapping storyline, and how the role led to meaningful work surrounding missing Black women and girls. She also opens up about transitioning fully into music, motherhood, co-parenting, and a past relationship she believes fell apart because her partner struggled with her success.

Things get even crazier when Birgundi reveals why she once accepted a public proposal despite knowing she didn’t want to get married. The ladies also debate sexual compatibility, whether women are better at hiding cheating, covering for your friends, getting back with an ex, marriage, and much more.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
What's happen slip service? I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm Jeordie or did see girl Cleo trap of.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Urgandy? Take care?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
What's up everybody? It's Leila Odem.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Oh my gush.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
I just want to say Leila Odem was one way
up at Angela Yee and she said she was going
to do lip service and here she is.

Speaker 5 (00:20):
I'm ba so hopefully I won't get cooked in the
comments this time.

Speaker 6 (00:25):
Why did they cook you, yo?

Speaker 5 (00:27):
Because as soon as I was like, oh, American men,
I like men from overseas, they was like, we'll go overseas.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
I was like, I'm.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Sorry, I still like American men.

Speaker 6 (00:40):
Excuse me, But that's why I don't know.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
It's like you're the problem.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Well, I know some American men to hit me up
like sook it up. And Bergan is your first time
doing either one of these platforms, and I want to
congratulate you eight seasons on The Shy Characters, studying in
season three, but your character was so pivotal and important
to that show, and it highlighted so many of the

(01:06):
issues that we have here, like actually that we have globally.
So I just want to commend you for that role
and for sticking it through.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Were getting married you.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
But it has to feel good and y'all know each
other from being on the shy together, right.

Speaker 5 (01:24):
I met Burgundy like my first I was in the
first episode last season. Very kind, very beautiful, because sometimes,
like as actor, you go to somebody else's house, they
might not be warm, they could be whack and be like, oh.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Well you wasn't It was nice, thank you. You brought
great energy too. I remember the day meeting you. I
was just like, you're so beautiful in the hair and makeup,
because that's really all the time we had with each
other with in hair and makeup.

Speaker 5 (01:50):
You didn't have any we didn't have any scenes, but
I would see you in passing and it was nice.
So it's always nice. So like work with women that
are nice and not caddy or mean.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
Have you had that experience?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yes? I have.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Without naming names, like just tell us.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I was doing a movie.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
I was in Chicago and it was like an older
actress and she was just very divisive, very rude, and
she had like.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
A reputation of being like that. So it was true.
I'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Later, Burgundy, did you anticipate having such a long run
on the Shy because you know, when I first started,
you never know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, I knew the show was gonna go like just
from day one, like from the audition and seeing all
these people in there. It was a big thing for
the city and for just black culture for this new
show to come on. So I was like, this is
gonna be big. But I didn't expect from my role
to be so heavy.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
No, Oh my gosh, was it when I tell you,
seeing that it was heartbreaking the day that you escaped,
I was like, God, when you watch it, you feel
like that could happen to anyone. I could it, could
you know, manage it? But there was also so many
other like layered storylines you know, within there, like older

(03:07):
men praying on young women.

Speaker 6 (03:09):
That's a real thing.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yes, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
And I think for us, like even growing up, it
used to be lit like you think you did in
an older guy, but you don't look at it from
the perspective of what an old, nasty, perverse, ye creditor
are you doing?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Go ahead, you was about to say something.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
I think there's a certain age where it's like nasty,
and then when you once everybody's grown there, it's okay. Right,
once you're illegal and everybody's grown, it's like, all right,
we can make this.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
I think about when I first went to college, I
was seventeen. I was really a little kid. Yeah yeah,
And I also am like.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Who looks at it like a teenager?

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Teenager?

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You know, because I look at my little sister, I'm like,
she's a little baby. Yeah right, Like I don't care
if she eighteen, nineteen or twenty. I don't think anybody
my age should be talking to anybody that young. Yeah,
it's lela.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
How were your d ms after doing way Up? My
d ms were the same Okay, very much so the same,
but it was but it was like I think certain
I had some emails.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Of like I want to take you out on a date,
like okay, okay, but I can't go out on a
date with somebody I don't know. The person needs to
be vetted. So how could I just be like, yeah,
meet me at the.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
People Beyond dating apps? All the time I was on
the app, yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Ran of course.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
No.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
I loved Ryan was like the International Club in your pocket.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah, I loved it.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Since you don't like American men.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
I love y'all.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
I love American men, But I'm just saying it was
like opened up to like I started to see different men.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
You know, they cooked me.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
They were like countries you said, London in Paris, Like
I know the difference. I know that they're not country the.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
City.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Yeah, but you know the dms are the same.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
I want to hear about your experience on these apps,
because you know, it also has to be strange to
be famous.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
That's like I didn't want nobody to know I was
up there, but I wanted to meet somebody, but I
didn't want nobody know I was up there because I
don't know, it's just kind of weird. Like I don't
want it to look like I'm looking like, hey, where
y'all at. So I'm just like that was just kind
of weird.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
But I'm then on there too, You're on here.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
We looking for the same. I don't know why. I
just didn't like it, and I don't think I have
enough trust to like meet somebody on an app and
then like get to know them, But real life it
is the same.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
It's even the same, like when you meet somebody in
real life. You don't know nothing about that either. You
just know what they tell you.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah. And I don't even like meeting people in real
life like me, I like to meet somebody that knows
somebody already, like we have around.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I like that, and I feel a little bit a
little comfortable, right to be so strange and it's like
you don't even know that he's strange. So you mean,
I'm just like, damn met you.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
Yeah, but I will say this.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Sometimes even that don't work because somebody will put a
certain type of error and they'll be like, oh, he's
cool dog, but she didn't know that because she just,
you know, was a friend.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
So I think people could be different when it comes
to friendships than it is in relationships. Like I know
guys who I'm like, they mad cool. But a woman
dating that wouldn't say the same thing.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Right, different.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Yeah, all my male friends, I'm like, oh he's cool.
But I would never I would never recommend.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
You for about it, don't even do it. What was
your profile? Like, like how do you describe yourself? But
I put I put out as an artist. I was
very like just like the minimal life. I don't know
you had your picture on there. I have my picture
out there. I had a cute little like like on
the floor on the side like that. But that was

(07:01):
literally I said, I was looking for someone in Chicago
on North Carolina because that's where I'm from. Ye in Atlanta,
because I'll be going to Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
All the time.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Okay, don't, I don't. I don't really be here that much, all.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Right, But maybe you don't have to be there though, right,
Maybe it'll come to you, because sometimes.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
A little long distance is not a I don't know
distance relationships are good, may they not?

Speaker 5 (07:27):
Like after like the honeymoon wears off, it's hard. It's like,
what time you going to sleep? It is six o'clock.
It's nine o'clock where you are. I'm still up. So
I think that that's hard, honestly. And when it's overseas,
it's hard.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
I dated somebody overseas. I loved it when you say overseas,
like what he was in China. But I knew him
for a long time. We were like childhood friends, and
then we dated and it got really really serious and
he went off to like play for the CBA. Okay,
I thought it was che but I love yes because

(08:08):
it's like when you see each other, it's like, oh
my god, I miss you so much. And then you
have like this short amount of time and you like,
let's just do everything.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
Let's fit each.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Other in in this time and just do everything.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
And how often are you seeing that person?

Speaker 6 (08:20):
Well, he was.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Going for months, but I was also going from it,
like we were both doing We were working, so he
didn't have time. I didn't have time. And then when
we were both off, I love it because I can't
get tired of you. Oh child, he cheated. He didn't cheat,
okaydeot No, he's started with me over the dumbest reason

(08:45):
was it? Okay, So just a little backstory. I don't
like if you have an X or somebody I know
that likes you, and y'all follow each other on Instagram
and y'all are liking each other's stuff or comment on
each other stuff, that's a big no note it is
that is weird. A lot of people think that's petty
like or insecure, but for me, absolutely not. So I
was on him like, I see you commenting under this

(09:06):
girl's picture. You know you're not supposed to doing this.
So we was we was already like at a rough place, right,
So then he had an auntie that passed away. Okay,
this is gonna make me sound so bad to hear it.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
She passed away.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Everybody need she passed away. We were at a rough spot.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Let me say that, at a rough spot, because I
kept saying, he been liking this girl's photos and comments
and his ex. Yes, it was more than one girl too,
It was his ex. And then it was a girl
that I knew liked him, but he was on that
like she don't like me, she don't like me.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
You know, you know he knows.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
So we were at a rough spot, got you, okay
it Auntie passed away. I did not reach out.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Really, yeah, you're supposed to be like that.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Right now, but break up with me. Just tell me
I'm wrong.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
But okay, in a rough path that you were still together. Yeah,
but because to break up somebody, it sound.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Like y'all was already from the breakup. We want that
just yeah, like I don't know, I know that I
was wrong, but it was already we were at a
rough I think.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
You just need to own it, right right, like, because
you said I know that I was wrong, but we
were just I know I was wrong.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Okay, sorry, whoever did?

Speaker 6 (10:44):
I didn't say, yeah, how did you break up with you?

Speaker 1 (10:49):
He was just like, I can't. I don't want to
do this. I don't want to be with someone that's selfish.
But I'm like, but, but, but but we go back
to that word selfish. You're the one that didn't want
to not comment under other people right photo and so yeah,
but I.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Mean it wasn't gonna work anyway.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Why didn't stopped doing that? But let me say this,
because this might make it better, This might make me
look a little better. Let's indicate you. I reached out
to his mama, who.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Is the sister of the person who okaybody, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
We were just talking about this is mom like you.
She loves me. Okay, she loves me. We still talk.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
You still talk to his mom? And seeing another relationship,
I don't know. I haven't talked to one.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Somebody like saw him in the club and sent me
a picture of him and was like, I just want
you to know his hairline is received And I was like,
you know, for playing turkey. And we were.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Just talking about the drama. Did you see the movie
about like the worst thing you've ever done?

Speaker 1 (11:56):
No dramas and Robert Pattinson. I didn't say that.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
So the premise of the movie, it's not HBO Max
right now, but the premise of the movie is they're
about to get married in a week, and part of
the conversation they're having, like while they're planning stuff with
another couple, who's the maid of honor and the best man,
they're talking about the worst thing they've ever done and
her worst thing. They get mad when she gets honest
about it, because it might be things you've done that

(12:22):
you have to be honest about and know that you're
going to be judged on. But it's some things can
make somebody look at you completely different. She had planned
a school shooting, but she didn't do it. Oh nah,
I mean, it's the premise of the movie. She didn't
do it though, But when she was fifteen, she was
getting bullied and she was like planning it, but she

(12:44):
didn't never carry it out.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I don't like it she was getting bullied. No, that's
what the mind. Yeah, people, the mind can exfinitely, they
go straight to something different.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
I'm just saying, though, have we all thought about doing
something crazy like that?

Speaker 1 (13:05):
No? That was doing.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
About about that.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
I'm not about getting somebody beat up. Okay, but that's regular.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
So I wanted to get somebody I really want to get.
I'm curious, like that was the.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
M about killing nobody? Hear me money? Wait?

Speaker 6 (13:27):
You left somebody money I got?

Speaker 5 (13:28):
It was yeah, it was a pyramid and I didn't money.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
But I want my money during the pandemic. Want the
pyramid involved? Yeah, I think it's money.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Is it a thousand dollars?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
So what?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Okay, that's.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Yeah money? Wait how did that go?

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Again?

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Like you you pay it on top and then you're
bringing people under you, and.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
So I ate at the bottom. Then four, then two.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Then when asked me how, I know because when I
was in college, we did it get paid out?

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Yes, and I got paid a couple of times.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
As a matter of fact, it's the only fight I
ever had with my best friend when we were in college.
This was her idea to do this pyramid scheme, and
so she started it and then we branched off because
you know, you got a branch off because the gross exponentially,
and that's when it gets messed up because the people
at the bottom never ended up getting paid Towards the
end of everybody, but I was doing my pyramid flip
every day. Hers was like taking three days, so everybody

(14:35):
was trying to be on mine because we was getting
paid faster. And then she was like, oh you got
to throw I was like, listen, I ain't got none
to do with what y'all got going on market better.
That was it, And that was our first and only
ever argument we had was over this pyramid schame.

Speaker 6 (14:52):
She was like, you so selfish, you being greedy. I'm like,
this was your idea, get with it?

Speaker 1 (14:58):
My best friend right there.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Yeah, but the but I remember it was my friend's
older brother, and I was just going like just get
somebody to, you know, beat his ass.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
Yeah, but would you have would you have got your
money back?

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Yeah? Did you do it? I didn't.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
I should have until this day, Like I remember, he
was like coming around, he had just got to be
on w I was like, that's.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Where my money, that's where my money beat up, just
like a light logical next movie.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Not like a crazy one like the money, not a
face like.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Yours.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Well as you well, I never did the pyramid, said
what was your thing?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
That was like, oh I would get somebody beat up? Yeah,
yeah for what? I'm just for whatever I mean I
never tried, but I was saying I wouldn't like plan
a school shooting, but I mean that is next level.

Speaker 6 (15:55):
And I will say when I was watching it, it
was one thing.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
It's one thing. If you like briefly think about something,
it's a whole. Like she was literally in the woods,
like practicing shooting. Yeah, why did she tell them?

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Though I wouldn't great, But in the movie there's another
the woman who was going to be the maid of honor.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yeah, she had some bad stuff too.

Speaker 6 (16:16):
She let me say you what her worst thing she did,
Go ahead, Jordan.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
She was playing with this neighbor of hers and they
were in this what was it like a forest?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
He was mentally challenged, but I don't think he was
he I think Rob made that up. No, what she
said is he was a little like yeah, and she
trapped him in this house or cl in a.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
Closet, and I left and left him there, and.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
So people are like looking like worrying that closet a
couple hours.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
I think we don't even know how long. They did
eventually find him. Yeah, but she never said nothing to nobody.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
He could have died in there a sick joke, or
did she she didn't. She did.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
She was just like how.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Young?

Speaker 6 (16:58):
This is a movie.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Yeah, I just want to say school.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
She's like the yeah, like the seventh grade.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
I think she's okay.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
I would have done something like that.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
Less money in the first screaming and panting on the door,
and then he.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
I was mean, when I was young, you were bullied,
not a bully, but I was like, mean, what do
you I think I think when you're young, it's like
you don't have a don't do that.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
It was, you know, like stuff is funny. Seventh grade? Yeah,
but I thought she was like twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 8 (17:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (17:33):
But you're always popular, right, were you?

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I mean girls used to try and jump me, okay
back in the day.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
Did you ever get jumped?

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Never?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (17:45):
They I have an older sister, I have older cousins,
so I'll just called him like come on, come on down,
come down.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:54):
So yeah, I mean they didn't, but I think that
that's a part of growing up, like getting jumped, getting bullied, Like,
I think that made me stronger as an adult.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
I was mad, skinny.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
They'd be like you skinny, IM that's fine, but I
wouldn't be like, let me plot something I wanted. That's crazy, right, Yeah,
but I think it made me stronger, that's a fact.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Oh what was life like for you before all of this?
Like did you always know you wanted to be an actor?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Always?

Speaker 4 (18:24):
And a performers see all of the things, and an
amazing dancer, thank.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
You, thank you? Yeah always, it's all. That's like all
I knew. My family is full of like singers, dancers, writers,
so I was just around it all the time. Wow.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
So it's like in the blood. Yeah, that's nice to
have a musical family. I can't even imagine what holidays
would like it.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
To have loud everybody trying to get they shine talent
shows just loud. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Do you think that being on such an even though
it's a blessing to be on the Shy for eight seasons,
it's a long running show, do you think it kind
of stalled you from pursuing like your real like you know,
passions as far as singing.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
And yes and no.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Like being on the show for so long, of course,
I didn't have time to do a lot of stuff,
so I never put my music out, which is kind
of the downside of it. But the show also gave
me a platform so that when I was ready to
put my music out, there was already a reason that
people would want to build relationships and talk and hear
the music.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
You know, So yes, but no, I'd have been trying
to pitch my music for the show.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
But why didn't you release music at the like at
the same time, you know what I'm saying, Like in listense,
I think that number one, I didn't have it at
a place where I felt like the show was doing
so well and I wanted my music to be the
same quality as I don't want to put out nothing
less than what I'd already done on TV.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
And so your character was so fired. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
That theme is gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
I was just telling somebody like, that's the only downside.
I'm so glad people love the character. I love when
people be like, I just want to give you a hug, Keisha,
But the only downside is, like my name is I'm
the person that I want people to know. You know
what I'm saying, So thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
What What was that like though for you even like
playing a role like that, because I know for me
even watching it, that was hard. But imagine playing that
character and like having to get into that how it
was that really hard? It was really really hard.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
I had to separate myself from the rest of my
cast because they're so happy and upbeat. They play all
the time, Like you can't even come out with your
trailer without a water gun or nerf gun or something
being shot at you. So I had to just like
separate myself and stay in my mod. But it was
really hard. When they told me, like, we're gonna do

(20:55):
this because a lot of girls are missing in Chicago
right now. We want you to represent them, I was like,
I gotta come hard or don't come at all. It
was really dark, like being touched on and being alone
in that basement, Like it really was a dark, cold,
wet basement every day for weeks that I was just
in there by myself or even with my kidnappers. So

(21:17):
it was a really shit yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Yeah, And then I imagine people seeing him out really nice.
He was actually really nice saying that role, like running
to him at the airport and be like.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
I'm sure he gets it all the time.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
That was my favorite season.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
And I told you that, I was like, I felt
like you should have been nominated for something you did incredible,
Like when I look at some of the people nominated,
I'm like, yeah, that ain't like you did it a
great job, like honestly, like I felt it. And normally
I'm I don't be impressed with most stuff I see.
I'll be like, Okay, yeah, good job, you did a

(22:02):
phenomenal job, honestly, and I think that we don't.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
You didn't get enough for what you did.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Thank you, but like this is enough, like other women,
especially black women, young black teenage girls, DM and me
and stopping me on the street like that's an award
to me, like someone DM men was like my cousin
was missing the same time as your season, and it
was actually a comfort for me to know that, like
somebody cares about girls being missing, And I was like

(22:30):
that's I wouldn't trade that for an award. I wouldn't.
But thank you, thank you.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
I mean I just I set that to you in passing,
but I wanted you to know that's how I really
feel like and I don't give out fake compliments at all,
but I thought you did a great job honestly, and
it just it just didn't for me.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
I'm like, she should have been you know what.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, because I also could see that like look like
how you're doing as a TIMA with the whole cancer
conversation and being an ambassador.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
And even for you, I don't know if there were
opportunities that came from that for you to just platform,
like you said, all of the missing young girls.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
But was that something that turned into more?

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Yeah? Absolutely, I partner with the Black and Missing Foundation.
We helped each other a lot. I got asked to
speak to young girls all over, especially in my city,
like it was. It definitely hurnt for more than just
a performance, but into like a purpose. Yeah. I want
to ask you this too.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
With the home series ending with the wedding, can you
imagine getting back with your baby daddy after all this stuff?

Speaker 6 (23:39):
Miss?

Speaker 5 (23:44):
I want to know what your thoughts are about that
in real life, like the forgiveness, the coming back to.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
It's tough out here.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Talk about here.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
I don't know, and then you, I don't know if
I would necessarily like forgive, but I would.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
Consider it depends special if you have a kid together.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Sometimes I'm not getting that close to a man who
is that close to his baby mama. Still that to me,
I'm just like no, no, no, man, Yeah, but they
were still very soft. Your across was crazy never and

(24:31):
then you were playing to propose on top of never.
Not only I'm not proposed.

Speaker 8 (24:44):
Like.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
I did you see the roly A lot of people
missed The Lost Crazy Kid. No immediately no, but it
had a party conversation.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Oh my god, I want to ask you though, you
do have a You have a ten year old daughter
in real life and a five year old. Has your
ten year old ever like seeing any scenes that you know?
Does she know her mom is?

Speaker 1 (25:13):
She is not even pressed.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
I'm like, why don't you with me? She's like she'd
be on her.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Phone, she be a sleep okay girl whatever, but she
wants to be an actress. She's been on Avid Elementary
she did then, so she's just like, oh.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
Good, young family is how do they feel about seeing
you in the position you're in now?

Speaker 1 (25:38):
They're proud, they're proud, but like I have I did
have a conversation with them, with my aunt and my
mom because when I put my music out, I was
just like I have been. I waited so long to
put my music out and I was so excited to
finally do it, and I wanted like a big like yeah,
you know, and they were like, I mean we kind
of used to you say you're gonna do something, you

(25:59):
do it, and then it's like we that's that's what
you do. So it's just like, my family is proud
of me. Let me say that they are proud of me.
But I also feel like they're like, this is what
you said you was always going to do. Doing it? Yeah,
that's beautiful.

Speaker 8 (26:14):
Congratulations, thank you, thank you, And you know, I want
to ask you even you know how like when people
are athletes and they played in the league for so
long and then it's like, okay, I'm not like for
you having been on the show and that's a long run,
that's like, isn't it like the longest running.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Black series Black series? Yeah? God, that's so cool. Liked.
Does it feel weird not doing it anymore?

Speaker 6 (26:37):
Yeah, it feels weird.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
It feels weird. It feels weird, But I mean, we
got all this stuff to do.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Yeah you do you have another movie that's coming out
that's like a thriller.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Yes, Carus of the Raven with Scott Black.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
Okay, yeah, you gotta do a comedy or something.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Nothing happy. They gets dark. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
I don't know what to see this stuff, because you know,
I love it thriller, but that is probably what's your
favorite genre.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
I like a thriller. I just saw the one with
Chloe Bailey. She was playing the violin.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Piano.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
Yeah, okay, I didn't like that like that.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
It wasn't that it was scary. I just felt like
it gave nothing for me. Really love Chloe. Know I'm
not one of those people that don't love Chloe. I
love Chloe. I actually don't understand that in the movie though.
I just wasn't in that movie. Was that none to
do with her. That's more so the writing side. So yeah,
I was You know, I want to.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Ask you this because since you brought up Chloe, you
saw she's been clapping back at people. I love it,
and so I think sometimes people don't realize. First of all,
I didn't think she looked bad when she posted the video.
I thought she looked cute.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
I was like, she always looking cute, though people are
just don't make up. I'm like, I think she is
so pretty, her and hell like both of them. I
think they're so pretty.

Speaker 6 (27:58):
I was shocked that people have negative things to say
about her.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
I feel like people have negative things to say about
people like her, where she's just sweet, she doesn't bother nobody.
I feel like those people are always targeted and just
they just get the most hate for some reason, like
people want to bother them. Like you don't hear her
getting into with nobody. You don't see her being like
she's some bruale hinsty person, Like she don't deserve none

(28:21):
of that. So I really don't understand that. I just
feel like people they come for people like that, and
I'm glad she's clapping back. She did too. I feel
like the Internet got people feeling like, you know, cause
you could say whatever and then you log off your
phone and give you know. So I feel like people
just get real confident when they start moving them thumbs
and they just people like putting people down. If they
get to run from them and real like theyre the

(28:43):
ones that's not doing they mad and they're jealous. I listen,
I'll still be shocked though, Like Layla, when you said
people was coming for you, I was.

Speaker 6 (28:52):
I didn't anticipate that. When she was talking about the
guys that she.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
I feel like the biggest ones too, it.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Was it was the man that was with your big
ass forehead like.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Okay, it's triggering to me.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Why but why because they know that that means that
they're doing something wrong and they're not going to be
held to the standard that you're looking for.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
That's that's what I Then you.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Click on there's.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
But this is what this is the thing.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
Though I didn't put anybody down. I wasn't like entire
ass not.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
Check it for you?

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Right, So why y'all mad? Y'all not checking for me?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Like the must have been if they got mad, they
weren't doing anything, but it wasn't on the picture and
you'd be like, oh, I want to talk to you anyway,
right half like.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
So half of it is like no.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
But the thing about it is I was single for
a very long time, so it doesn't matter if a
troll was was saying, oh, I like go to Paris,
then when I'm out at the parties in Hollywood in
New York, I am not checked for period. I don't
have to make it up, which I mean, I just

(30:04):
you know, I still Angela, come on, I do. Somebody
else I know personally texted me and was like, yo,
put it together for me, and I'm like, I wouldn't
even do that to her, you know. But that's that's
what I'm gonna show you too, because it's a guy's himself.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
At any point did he reach out himself.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
It's it's weird because it's like I feel that. I
like I hear it, like, oh, somebody was feeling you.

Speaker 5 (30:36):
You have to be feeling me to my face. That
doesn't that doesn't work. But I've been saying at a
long time it's not I didn't make it up.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
I should be married.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, you want to be married?

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Okay, do you know the same?

Speaker 1 (30:55):
No. I actually had somebody proposed to me, and I
was like, why said the person or in general, tell
us he proposed me in front of a lot of
people at church. So I was like, yeah, you.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Were like he was were.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Selfish?

Speaker 3 (31:22):
Mind you?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
He told somebody that he was going to propose to me,
and that person my mom. She said you might not
want to do that. He did it anyway in front
of a lot of people. That is very self You
should have took your mom advice. That knows better than
your mom.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
Should have told you to. She should have give your
hands up.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
No, she was being.

Speaker 6 (31:42):
Petty ahead why listen.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Let's let's church is crazy. We got back to his
house and I was like, I can't do this together
with don. We were going together, but it was going together,
and I was like, you don't do that when we fizzling,
you do that. It was very nice.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
It was so nice.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
Did he ask for it back or he did?

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Somebody proposed to me once and I tried to give
him the ring back right away because I said no,
and he was like, keep it.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
I don't ever want to see it again. Because I
wasn't broken.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Bad because it was just unexpected and like I never
even met nobody in your family.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
We don't even know each other.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
About what I would have been like, yes you can, yes, now,
I was like just keep it because I try to
be like listen, I'm you know.

Speaker 6 (32:47):
And it was bad because it was at a restaurant.
And then the waiter came over and was like he was.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Like, not good, Oh my god, did you get the
ringal praise?

Speaker 6 (32:56):
No, you want to hear something crazy. I don't even
I lost it.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
It's I wouldn't move like three times. I don't know
where it is.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
I felt bad. I wanted him to have it back.
I didn't want to take it like what am I
supposed to wear it?

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Sell it?

Speaker 1 (33:12):
Sell it? Thank you? No, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
I felt I did feel bad because I wouldn't want
to put nobody. So how did you end up having
to like renigg on that.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
No, just told him like this is not something I
don't want to be married. I really I don't want
to be together like lord, yes, but then when you
got because I didn't want him to be embarrassed and
from all those people would.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yeah, and then like he's got to explain it.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
Yeah, didn't.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
That's crazy. Nobody asked to marry me.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Because I'm gonna be honest this guy, and then somebody
else hit.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Me, yes, match makeup.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
No, I wouldn't. I'm gonna be honest. He's you know,
he's got some baggage ahead. Wait, the one that let
me find this test because I think it's so funny.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
You are you gonna show me?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
I'm an yeah, let me find it. I want to
find he got.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
You don't we all have baggage?

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Are you talking a duffle bag or like a roller.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
Like fresh out of a breakup kind of thing? Like
you know, I mean everybody break up?

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (34:27):
What are you looking for what am I looking for?
Somebody else?

Speaker 5 (34:30):
I like this, Somebody that makes me laugh okay, Somebody
that is not stingy. Somebody that likes to work out okay,
someone that knows God, someone.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
That is clean, that knows I'm keeping it.

Speaker 5 (34:52):
Like Noice wasn't like he got a ten million, he
gotta be six five. I didn't say any of that,
Like these are the things that really keep like the
basic Yeah, like brush his teeth, like flaws, because you
can't brush the teathern flaws. You can't have a that
gotta be there. You can't have it.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
If it's rotting.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Not evity does have a smell?

Speaker 3 (35:24):
What size?

Speaker 6 (35:25):
You know?

Speaker 1 (35:30):
Honestly, I think that the motion of the ocean thing.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
Yeah, I think somebody say honestly, they're about to say
something not true.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
Nobody's true because I think if you know what you're
doing is better than like you have something big you
don't know what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Yeah, like that can hurt you.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Gonna train someone, yeah, somebody I definitely want to me.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
But I think as long I mean, it can't be
like yo, that's crazy. But as long as.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
It's like a decent side I can work with. Not
like a handicap, not a micro.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah, one of them. I saw you saw one before
you said that, I mean not.

Speaker 5 (36:14):
Seeing it on I've seen it when you do if
everything else.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Was perfect, and then that the first time you're about
to get in and is it really a micro?

Speaker 1 (36:26):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (36:27):
Is he gonna let me have a relationship with somebody else,
like just a sexual one? I can't answer that, that's
how Yeah, yeah, because like I know, but I gotta
I gotta see somebody on the side.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
A micro is do y'all know how big that is?

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Like you know, like, well, you know what you got,
But if you see somebody on the side, can you
see somebody on the side that's okay with the micael?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
What's he gonna be doing?

Speaker 1 (36:52):
What you is okay with it? No? Crazy?

Speaker 5 (37:05):
But I think I don't think I'm attracting a micro
you know what I'm saying, Like, Okay.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
I think I'm like that.

Speaker 5 (37:10):
And how can you tell you don't even know I'm
not attracted energy? Yeah, you could tell micro energy like
away Microsoft. Right, I think I'm too Like, I think
micro ain't even checking for me.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
But sometimes the guys in the micros they cheat you
so much better because they.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Know, they know micro they make a lot of money
because they like, I know, I got a compensate.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
I'm fine with that, but but I got I had
something on the side I got.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Well, do you ever cheated? Huh yes?

Speaker 5 (37:47):
Okay, like no, I never cheated as an okay, as
an adult.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
When I was young. Yeah, but I never cheated.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
I don't even count. But like no, because men cheat
more than man. We don't get We just get away
with it.

Speaker 6 (38:04):
More okay not more. But women don't get caught like
men do.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Right, Nigga, Women like we plan shooting out.

Speaker 6 (38:13):
We'd be like, okay, girl, we're gonna take these pictures
and in a month when I go on this trip,
I'm gonna post the pictures like I'm with you and
like girls.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
Yeah no, but I have assisted.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Oh yeah, I bet I was, and I'm so good.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Like when your man call me, I got like, I'm
gonna be like old, let me call you right back.
Then I'm gonna call you and be like, yo, he's
calling me, Like what you want?

Speaker 1 (38:37):
You know, I'm on it. I'm a good friend. That's good.

Speaker 5 (38:41):
Now would you do that for a husband, like if
they was married? Would you if it's my friend, your friends.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
She's married.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
For my friends, I will tell them what I think,
but I'm gonna still have your back. So I'm gonna
always be like, I don't think this is good, but
I'm gonna still be in your corner.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
You know.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
But don't you think that's cose?

Speaker 4 (39:01):
I mean, I think that I don't want to be
in that position, and I would like you that. Yeah,
but I'm very loyal to my friends and if y'all
need me to do that.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
I don't know him outside of you. Yeah, that happened
to me once, but I did know him and he
was like a brother to me, and I was like,
I love you. I don't want to hear shit about it.
I don't approve do it without me? Yeah yeah, yeah wow.
And she gonna get it done regardless. That's my whole thing. Like,
if you're not gonna help somebody, she's gonna find somebody
else to help her. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:31):
Yeah, I've definitely covered from people.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Yeah you have.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
You guys are actresses. I have to imagine that.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
It's hard to day because people think you're acting sometimes.
I've heard that, like, you know, I Atlanta, they always
say that about juice A doora they'd be like, oh,
she's acting like they don't take it. But it's like, no,
if you're being really who you are, sometimes people like
think you're not.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
You know what I'm saying. I never heard that somebody
thought I was acting. I think I've just heard people
say like it's secure, stuff like oh, you're probably talking
to all these people are talking to you you work
with Yeah, just like stuff like that. But that I'm
not that I'm acting. I ain't never heard that not authentic?
What about you?

Speaker 3 (40:11):
I think that I have acted before.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
Oh shoot, okay, I mean but normally.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
I like to act for money. I don't want to
just act for free, right, So so.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Like faked in orgasm? Is that what you never?

Speaker 5 (40:23):
Okay never, I would never do that, not even if
you're tired and you want it to be over.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
No, see on, let me think about a different scenarios.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
Different I wasn't ready.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
I was just like an emergency situation.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
No, I'm tired. I got to work in the morning.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
I ain't got no job right now.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
No, we can work.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
We can keep you and it's not a micro so
we can we can keep it going. But I don't know.
I think when people get married.

Speaker 5 (40:52):
I want to get I want to leave out doing
triplin stuff like if you trip and you married, please don't.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
I can't co sign it, Like I can't be a
part and you.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Can't wait to get married. I love that for you
in existence, Like helping somebody cheat while they married. It's like,
so what if the husband she did and she's just
getting her get back.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
They need to get a divorce. It's okay, you can
get a divorce, but don't have an.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
Open relationship that you'll agree on an open relationship, which
I think would you know? Okay, I don't play that because,
first of all, like when my man you know, if
you know my man, you know he's not having that
first of all, But secondly, I don't even want to,
Like he's a lot already.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
I don't have the bandwidth to like deal with somebody else.
What are you looking for?

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Broke?

Speaker 6 (41:41):
And we already asked Leila, what are you looking for?
I'm not looking?

Speaker 1 (41:45):
But if I did, I mean I want to god
fair man. I want somebody who works hard and has
his own everything. I don't need nobody come in trying
to get nothing from me. Somebody who loves their family,
big family, My family. I want somebody who's like well rounded,
Like they know how to act when we're in this space.

(42:05):
They know how to act and we're in that space.
They're fun, but they can be professional. They know how
to read books. I like, you don't care about that.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
I know how to.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Just like cron books. I might have likes to have fun,
but it's loyal period. Yeah, someone that loves my children.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
That's a big thing for me.

Speaker 6 (42:27):
But how do you get along with like the father?

Speaker 1 (42:30):
That's why I was going to ask. I'm like, great shot.
I got pregnant season three and then I had my
baby in between three and four. Okay, perfect time. Yeah,
it was perfect. Thank goodness that worked out.

Speaker 6 (42:46):
How does that work look like a break?

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Yeah? I had her and then break after I had her,
we went to season four.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Yeah. But I definitely don't want anybody who thinks they're
bigger than the program. I think that's what our problem was.
He thought he's bigger than the program. Wow.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
So yeah, but that was something. Was that somebody you
thought you were gonna end up with?

Speaker 5 (43:10):
That?

Speaker 1 (43:11):
Now, Now, I would have married him, for sure. I
definitely would have married him, but nah, it would have
been it would have been.

Speaker 6 (43:18):
A bad What does that mean bigger than the program?

Speaker 1 (43:21):
Like I'm saying that, like you think it's.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
All about you.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
I feel like he was intimidated by my success okay,
even though he was very successful, like and I feel
like he was insecure by me, like being on TV.
It's a different type of attention that comes with that. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (43:47):
Yeah, and a lot of guys can't handle that.

Speaker 1 (43:49):
Yeah. And I'm not watering myself down because I know.

Speaker 5 (43:55):
So what, So what are you saying you have to
you have to be with someone that does the same
thing to it's like you both get attention or like he.

Speaker 4 (44:04):
Just couldn't hand it, okay with that.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Wanted the attention and he like he wanted attention. Huh
he wanted the Yeah, and that's another thing, Like I
don't want a baddie Like I don't want want the
attention and think that you know, but you look super
good not I mean his mentality you want to say
about it?

Speaker 2 (44:28):
Yeah, someone is too good, that's the problem.

Speaker 5 (44:32):
You know.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
So how did y'all end up to be? Like are
you on good terms at least because co parenting?

Speaker 1 (44:40):
Yeah, we're fine, you know, but it's not like I
wouldn't say like a friendship, you know, like what you said,
just co parenting.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
Okay, you know that's good. Sometimes sometimes it's hard to
even get to that space. But it's important.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
Yes, it's important because it's not I don't think I'm
bigger than the program. It's about my children, you know.

Speaker 6 (44:56):
So what's he trying to get back with you?

Speaker 1 (44:58):
No, because he thinks he's bigger than the program.

Speaker 6 (45:00):
You don't have like his pride and like his ego.

Speaker 1 (45:04):
Right, So he's never gonna like come down to the
place where it's like, Okay, I'm sorry, I know, Like,
but what if that does? Okay, and y'all y'all want
him together? Both feel had I married him, I would have. Yeah,

(45:24):
But you know when you look back, you're like, it
wouldn't have been. It wouldn't I've.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Never been at a wedding and been like, yeah, it's
not gonna work the wedding. I've been at people's weddings
and been like, oh yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Yeah, but being at yourself close with your family. Did
they like him? They liked him, yeah, but they definitely
saw what I saw, right, Yeah, But you know, family
is like if you like it I love it.

Speaker 2 (45:49):
Does he have other kids.

Speaker 3 (45:51):
Get back with him?

Speaker 5 (45:53):
Yeah, and wanting to be in the life like that,
he's gonna outgrow that and he's gonna come back.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
And here's you're not gonna outgrow that.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
Maybe maybe time to put on the sign bad.

Speaker 1 (46:17):
And listen to that. No, like when you know it's done.

Speaker 4 (46:25):
Yeah, you know it would be like the person that you
were so in love with him, would do anything for,
would be the one that you look at and be
so disgusted by. Yeah, Like later on you're like, oh,
I can't guess you could take it back.

Speaker 5 (46:37):
That's the story of my life. Everybody I've ever messed
with I look back, I'd be like, oh, depressed.

Speaker 4 (46:43):
Like dessed, I lied and said no. When people be
like did you mess with him?

Speaker 3 (46:48):
Of course like.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
No evidence?

Speaker 5 (46:54):
Yeah, like because someone like sometimes these guys are like you,
you don't deserve me. I shouldn't never mess with you
in a really weak, bad place.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
No, can't nobody ever ask me like did you mess
with him? Like no, straight face.

Speaker 2 (47:10):
That's the actress coming out right there.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
Certain things, but I would I would have to. I
think I've made some mistakes.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
I've made some like.

Speaker 5 (47:21):
He's not it too many times.

Speaker 6 (47:26):
But you know what, you have fun. That's all part
of living life.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
I don't know if it was.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
Fun because in the rear view you'd be like, why
did you do that? He didn't deserve it.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
But let me tell you that life is going to
help you.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
Pour that into your act, pour that into like when
you think about things that life experience is like what
puts that sauce on everything?

Speaker 5 (47:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (47:46):
You know, so I love it.

Speaker 6 (47:48):
Listen, I know you got to go because you have
a flight to catch back to La, back to l.

Speaker 5 (47:52):
