Speaker 1 (00:03):
What's up, it's Lip Service. I'm Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm Jordi George.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Akeem Woods.
Speaker 4 (00:08):
Risa Tisa.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Risa Tisa! And you have a book that is actually out.
Speaker 5 (00:14):
I'm so excited because I read it already. And when
I say so relatable, I just want you to know,
I was like, oop, done did that, been there before.
So I want to talk about that. And that's why
you're here. What the F do I do now?
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Yes, ma'am.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Now, listen, Risa Tisa went very viral when she was
opening up and very honest and vulnerable about marrying somebody
and not knowing who the fuck he was. And look
at you on the other side of things now, though.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Do you feel like you're on the other side of things?
Speaker 4 (00:47):
No. In some aspects, I do. But in others, I
still feel like I got a ways to go.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Yeah. I want to say, though, everybody been trying to
follow that formula.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
I know.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
After you, right? I know. Trying to sit in the car.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Did you initially go into it knowing it would be
this long 50-part thing?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Mm-mm. I actually, I knew it was going to be
long if I told this story from beginning to end. Mm-mm.
I didn't know it was going to be exactly 50
parts when I initially started. I was just like, I'm
going to go until the story's over. But I'm glad
that it ended at 50 because if it had ended
at like 51 or 52, my OCD side would have
been really irritated. But no, I didn't know. I really
(01:32):
didn't know it was going to be like 50 parts.
I figured it was probably going to be like 10
or 15.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
I'll never forget when I first started watching it. I
was locked in. I was at home cleaning. And, you know,
we were anticipating very eagerly, like, when is the next
part going to drop?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Oh, I was in a little group.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Get out the car. And I was like, what is
she doing? Like, come on. We got to finish this story.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
We were all tuned in.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah. Yeah. It was it was a crazy time because
I filmed it in three days. You know what I mean?
Like I would I couldn't sleep. And so I'd be
up at like one in the morning. camera, you know,
phone in my hand. And that's why you see me
going through all the different phases, hair done, curlers, rag
on the head, skull cap. Like I just, But that's me.
(02:16):
That's how I look on a regular day to day basis.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
I have a question. I caught it when it was
already out. So my question is, was there a certain
part that went viral that subsequently led to all the
other ones going viral?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
So actually, there was a whole different video just before that.
So on February 13th, someone had posted a video and
they said, what is the most fucked up thing your
ex has ever done? And I did a stitch to it.
And the Stitch got like a hundred and something thousand views.
So I was like, oh, okay. And the comments were
(02:50):
people saying, girl, what happened? You got to tell us.
And that night I said to myself, you know what?
I'm going to go ahead and finally tell a story.
And I told myself, here's how I'm going to do it.
I'm going to do it like a playlist because I
love a good audio book so that it would just
jump from part one to two to three. And I
said to myself, I'm going to do a disclaimer in
(03:11):
the beginning. That was my only thing. Like, I'm going
to introduce myself to the audience. I'm going to be like, listen,
I'm going to record all this. Y'all ain't got to
follow me for part 17. I'm just going to put
it all up in order. So even if I'm not,
you don't see a video, just know I am recording.
So that was the only decision I made like eight
hours before I was like, press record.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
How was it going to work after that?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
So let's see. I did it on, I started part
one on Valentine's Day. I finished part 50 on, on
a saturday so i did it from i believe thursday
friday saturday i went to work monday and i work
in law enforcement so one of my one of my
command officers said to me he said you were all
(03:55):
over my facebook and i said i was like what
do you mean i'm not on facebook at the time
i wasn't yeah he.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Showed me people were taking the video he.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Showed me a screenshot of what i look like from
the tiktok videos and that's how i found out that
it had made it to facebook I eventually had to
have a meeting with my boss because it had gotten
around the job so much.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
And everybody was talking about it and he had gotten
all these phone calls. And so he was just like.
What were the calls saying though?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
They were.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Like, does she work with you?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Like, oh my God.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
They were trying to be detectives.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Yes, they were.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
They got found a man.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I saw that.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
We love being detected. In the modern day of social media,
people love it. Ooh, wait, I think I saw her
at my salon.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
I think I saw her at Publix.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
And so he was like, I remember he asked me,
he was like, what are the numbers? And at the
time I first met with him, it was like 300,000 views.
And he was like, okay. He was like, well, let
me know if it gets any more.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
And then like a week later, he was like, well,
where are the numbers at now? I said, it's about
2.1 million views. And he was like, and I said,
I have about a million followers.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
And see, in his mind, I got a million followers
within like a few days.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
On TikTok, right? On TikTok. And then it grew from
there to 2 million. Then I saw it go to
3 million. And it was all in the span of
two weeks.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
So when he was asking you those questions at work,
I'm wondering, were they supportive or what was that?
Speaker 4 (05:28):
My job has been amazing supportive because a lot of
jobs would have said, look, you got a choice. Either
us or social media. His fear was that people were
going to find out where I worked and they were
going to bombard the job. Which is a rational fear.
It is. And as of the time I'm recording this,
(05:51):
that has not happened. People know, but no one has
put me on blast.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
And you still work there?
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I still work there. I'm on PTO right now.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Oh my gosh. They were asking if you win the lottery,
would you quit your job?
Speaker 4 (06:07):
No, but there'd be signs.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Every week, there'd be signs. Fuck out of here.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I mean, if you love what you do, then of
course you're not going to quit. But if you're working
at Burger King or something, then yeah, you're not going
to go back to Burger King.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Who doesn't love working at Burger King?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
I did for a long time.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Right. I know you were loving them onion rings.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
And I quit immediately.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
But we got to talk about some other things. Now,
I told you some things were so relatable in here.
And what I find crazy is that you got criticism.
People were like, oh, she's so dumb.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
She's so this. Why she didn't just leave him? Blah, blah, blah.
I know that part had to be hard for you.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
So talk to me mentally when you're reading some of
those comments back then, because I feel like now it's like,
I mean, you know, CAA, TV deal, Natasha Rothwell.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I mean, you've got amazing things happening. The book is
out right now.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
But at first, when you're not knowing what's going to happen,
how did you feel about all of that?
Speaker 4 (07:02):
I mean, honestly, my mental health took a hit. I
will be very honest with you guys. It took an
absolute hit because it wasn't just comments. It was people
making videos and doing lives. And so I would get
on TikTok, you know, ready to scroll to see what
else is going. And I would see my face Just
(07:25):
on each post as I'm scrolling and scrolling. And you
would have people who have no idea, never met you,
don't know anything about you. And yet they're in a
group on TikTok Live talking about how dumb she is.
And I think she made it up because my cousin's
brother's sister's uncle said that they just saw her with Legion.
last week that's the.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Problem with social media it's like a wildfire so you
became so popular for the story and you're a talking
point so now everyone else wants to talk about it
they want to get the same views and listen to
followers that you will obtain.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
And so it was it was it was hard because
you know i'm i've always been a plus-sized woman but
i mean i was a big baby i was nine
pounds but to have people talking about how you look
and trying to equate how you look is why you
went through what you went through and what did you expect.
It's like, I already told y'all this story wasn't going
to make me look good. Y'all don't have to.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Listen, the vulnerability of telling that, you know, what's so funny.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
I had that, um, the girl group flow on my
show recently, and they have this one song on their
album where they talk about being a dumb bitch. And
I want to say we've all been a dumb bitch
at some point in our lives. You know, I, I
am guilty of that where we've done something that is
either too embarrassing to want to tell anybody or we
can laugh about it once.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
We get to the other side. Like, what was I thinking?
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
You know, so I do want to say I relate
to you on that because there's times that I've been like,
you know what it is. And I don't think anybody
could understand it unless like at some point, and at
some point I want to tell all of y'all, y'all
going to go through some shit. That you may not
be as open to talk about it. Like even thinking
about how you knew Legion was lying all this time
(09:08):
and you would make excuses. And I've done that too,
where you're like, or you want to believe somebody. I
always say that we believe lies if we choose to.
Because sometimes you want to really think the best or
you come up with excuses and make excuses for somebody
of how something could be so far out of reach.
You're like, well, they can't be lying.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
And sometimes a lie is just more digestible. A lie
is easy.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
I dated this guy who disappeared all week at one time.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
And you know what? What's the number one lie men
tell when they disappear?
Speaker 4 (09:37):
I was working. I was sleeping. What? What?
Speaker 1 (09:40):
He was like, oh, yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
They don't tell me that. I'm like, oh, my God.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I've never heard that. Because you can't say I was
a cousin or something and hit you back. Yeah. So
he was gone all weekend.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
So I was like, you know how you know something's wrong.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
But why do we need the evidence? And why do
we need to play detective?
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
And why do we need to prove it when in
our mind and our hearts we know you lied?
Speaker 1 (10:04):
But you know what?
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I think part of it is that as women, we're
taught to second guess ourselves a lot. And so I
feel like we naturally don't follow our instinct the way
that we're supposed to. So we almost need that proof
to logically almost believe ourselves, I feel like. Oh man,
I had an ex-boyfriend who butt-dialed me and was with
a girl.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
And I literally had just texted him.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
He told me he was at his boy's house and
he butt-dialed me. And I had a friend in the
car and it picked up on the speaker in the car.
And I hear him talking to a girl and everything.
And so I listened for a little while and then
I called him back. And I was like, yo, you
just butt-dialed me. I hear you and a girl talking.
He's like, no, I'm at my boy's house. I said,
let me talk to him. And he was like, oh,
he just went to the store. I'm like, I fucking
(10:45):
heard it. I'm not crazy, but... But then I'm like, well,
maybe it was his, you know, like we make up
excuses for what we want to believe.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Right. And that's, I mean, that's what I did. And
also it's not even so much that I knew he
was lying. Right. I had a feeling he was lying.
I did not know the depths of what he was
lying to. That's the part that I feel like sometimes
people miss where they're like, well, you knew he was lying.
So why didn't you leave? And I'm saying to myself,
(11:14):
I'm like, y'all, I thought that, you know, when it
came to the house, oh, I thought his offer wasn't accepted. Right.
I had no idea he had absolutely fabricated a whole
pre-approval mortgage letter.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Yo, the fact that he said, I have my real
estate license, but the fact that he said that he
wasn't going to show proof of funds until after they
accepted his offer, like, bro.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Right.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
How, like.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Sometimes they won't even let you see a property without
proof of funds.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
And that's where I feel bad. I honestly do when
it comes to the house part because I know it
was COVID. I know that the realtor was trying to
make a sale. And I believe that he overlooked or
missed certain steps that he normally would not have. And
his time ended up getting wasted. I mean, I know
(12:01):
my time got wasted, but so did, you know, that realtor.
You are so nice because your time really got wasted.
I know. But when I would ask people... Like, is
this normal that you show your proof of funds once
your offer is, you know, accepted? And they were like, yeah.
But then I found out, no, honey, you should have
(12:21):
shown proof of funds to the realtor before you ever
even looked at the house.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I don't know why the realtor let him get away
with that.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Because I think it was COVID.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
COVID really did.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
And I think he wanted a sale. COVID did change.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
The game for everybody.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
It was. And I think that man was like... He
saw the pre-approval letter and was like, oh my God,
I know that this man can get up to $ 750, 000.
I'm going to show him whatever house I can show
him in Atlanta. And I think it really was just
a perfect combination of you skip the step. that would
have saved you time because you were trying to make
(12:55):
a sale.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
You know, I.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Also want to talk about how at a certain time, women,
we have this biological clock and that also played a
factor in you really wanting to believe this man, wanting
to get married and have a.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Baby and do things the quote unquote right way.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
And that's a pressure that men don't necessarily have, you know,
where y'all be having babies at 70 years old.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
You know what I'm saying? Like, it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
But for women, you feel like And I know because
I've been through that with people like, oh, you don't
have any kids.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Oh, you're not married. You don't have a husband. What's
wrong with you?
Speaker 5 (13:27):
When sometimes that's a choice, but you feel like, Jordan,
you don't, you know, we both don't have kids and
we're not married. And so it does feel like when
everybody around you is doing it that way and we
have family members and everybody's like, I remember my grandmother.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Before she passed you to be like, when are you
getting married? When are you getting married?
Speaker 4 (13:46):
When are you getting married?
Speaker 3 (13:47):
It's this unfair stigma that's thrown on women.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
It is. And, you know, I did my due diligence
of being honest in the book about the fact that
I was 35. I wanted to be married. I wanted
to be married and have kids. since I was a
little girl. And so while I do understand, you know,
(14:10):
that may not happen biologically for me, because I'm 41 now,
but at the end of the day, I really, I
believed what he was saying, because one, I wanted to.
And two, he was saying everything. A 35-year-old woman who
was staring at her doctor who said, so, right? What
do we think you're doing? You know, what are we
doing with the eggs? And, you know, here comes this
(14:33):
guy that's like, not only am I serious about dating,
but I want to date you with intention. I want
to get married. I want to have a family. And
if you don't want that, don't waste my time. Like,
he completely used the game on me. And, yeah, I admit,
I fell for it.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
And he used COVID. He was able to move on.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
We're all vulnerable.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Everybody wanted to be booed up during COVID. Well, not me.
I was okay being by myself.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
No.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Do you think that, like, I feel like a lot
of women get in this trap of wanting that fairytale
life and that it almost is like that man could
be whoever, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Like, it's just a filler. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
And do you feel like he was just kind of
like a one size fit all?
Speaker 4 (15:12):
He absolutely, at that point in my life, he could
have been. John Doe from from, you know, nowhere, Timbuktu.
But if he was like, listen, I'm ready for marriage
and you are who I want, I probably would have
fallen for it because of where I was. That's why
(15:32):
I say not only in the TikTok series, but I
say in the book. It really was a decision made
out of desperation because I did feel like I was
running out of time. And I did feel like, oh,
my God, here's this man who was saying everything. Like, yes,
I really, truly thought this will make y'all laugh. I
truly thought God had sent him. because he was doing everything.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
He did.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
I mean, the blow up happened.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Thank you for your service.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
I was like, you want to write a book? You
want to get a TV deal? This is how you're
going to recognize a gift. We're going to put you
through something first.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
But for the record, you know, I'll be telling y'all,
you could have used me a different way.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
In a way, everything happened the way that it was
supposed to though.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Where is he now? Because I remember he did some interviews. Yes.
And he was trying to cut like, I know.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
He's sick to his stomach. I know he's trying to
write his book.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
You know what? So knowing what I do know about him,
I don't think he's sick to his stomach. I don't
think that. First of all, I have had no contact
with him since 2021. So we don't have any mutual.
We don't have mutual nothing. Right. But knowing what I know,
one of two things. This is what my intuition tells me.
(16:48):
Either one, he's living his life with someone new.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
And no, he's not sick to his stomach. He will
simply come up with another story.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
Like he'll come up with something.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Oh, he's like a habitual liar.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
No, he definitely came out.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
He came out afterward and he was doing interviews.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
He was. Yes, I was like, bro. And accused me
of hitting him with a car. Oh, Lord. But they
didn't press charges. Not the BMW. No, just hitting him
with a car. And he broke all the bones on
one side of his body. He couldn't wipe himself. It
was insane. And I was just sitting at home like, really?
Speaker 1 (17:21):
He couldn't wipe himself. He keep that to himself.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I'm surprised he's not trying to write a book. I'm
really surprised he's not.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
No one's buying that.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I know, but the way that he finesses in the series,
I'm surprised that he didn't see your... amazing success and
try to immediately climb onto it and spin it to
the real story or whatever, you know.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
So he did do that in interviews.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Right.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
But I think that..
Speaker 3 (17:45):
But no one wanted to fuck with him.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
He can't write.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
So it's not even... Y'all... And I'm not even trying
to like give him any publicity. The interviews were insane. Yeah,
they were.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
It was insane.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
It was like..
Speaker 1 (18:00):
It shows what a nut he is.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Yeah, it was really... I mean, I was sitting there
and I kid you not, my mom, my family members,
they were watching and they were like... Because he lied
on my mom. You know, and she don't bother nobody
but me. So, you know, and she was just like,
I can't believe he said that. And I told her,
I was like, the fact that you can't believe that
he would lie to that extent. I was like, did
(18:22):
you think I was being dramatic when I would tell
you the things he would do?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
He was like Googling stuff. Like everything.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
You know, speaking of your mom and family, what did
they think about the pressure that they put on you?
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Maybe in retrospect, yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:38):
After hearing this story and reading this book and seeing
all of that, that's also a moment where they're not
thinking that they're doing anything detrimental and not even thinking
about how you might have looked at it.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
So at the time of this recording, my family has
not read the book. Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Yeah. They have not read the book. And that's fine.
So my phone will go off. crazy um when they
read it but to be fair my mom my mom
has been a single mom so I've never met my
dad um she has always been listen I don't believe
that I'll ever get married like I don't think that
(19:19):
God made a husband for me but if you want
marriage I want that for you right the the problem
not even a problem but I just acknowledge where things
kind of got a little dicey I grew up in
the church and growing up in the church, it felt
like the end all is you can have the career,
but have it with a husband, have it with the kids.
(19:41):
The pinnacle of life has always felt like it is
to be someone's wife, to be the mother of children.
And so, you know, growing up. every Sunday going to
church is like a man that finds a wife, finds
a good thing. So it's like you need to put
yourself in the right setting to do it the right
way for God to send your husband so that he
can find you. So it's not so much on my
(20:02):
mom as much as it was on the doctrine that
I heard growing up. Every Sunday, Sunday school, in church,
high school, middle school, going to college. And it wasn't
until I became really a grown woman where it's like
you're introduced to the idea, sweetie, you can live a
beautiful life all on your own. You do not have
to have a man. You do not have to have
(20:24):
kids and still be fulfilled and still thrive.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
There's nothing worse than being with somebody that you don't
want to be with.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
It feels like being trapped. You said you used to
stay at work.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Because you didn't want to go home.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
I used to stay in my office. I used to
stay in my office at Georgia State Patrol. And so
I got off. I worked 7 to 3.30. And I
would stay at work to almost 5, 5.30 and make
it seem like, oh, I was working on a project.
When really and truly, I just didn't want to go home.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
For anybody listening, if you're doing that, it's time to go.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
It's time to go.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
To get on up out of there.
Speaker 5 (20:58):
Okay, now I have something to ask you that I
feel like you implied but didn't really say in the book.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Beavis, codename Beavis. It feels like you really liked him,
but his sex wasn't good.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Like, that's what I picked up on.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Here's the thing about Beavis. I loved Beavis. And I
feel like women who have ever been in love might
understand the story of Beavis. I was in love. I
absolutely thought that was the guy. And I'm very honest
in the fact that I was not healed after everything
(21:41):
blew up with Beavis, which kind of led me into
a place of desperation and ended up with lesion. The
thing with Beavis, the nice way I'm going to put it,
we were not compatible in that room. But I turned
my head because I loved him.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
What is not compatible?
Speaker 4 (22:03):
In that room. Angela. Okay, so I'm going to just
assume that he, you know.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Butt head.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
No. No, the way that I put it is that
there are certain things as a grown woman I enjoy. And.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
He ain't have it.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
He didn't. No. I mean, it was very.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
It was.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
You have to coach who's willing to learn.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Also, you can't coach if you don't got the equipment
for the coaching.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
So it wasn't an equipment issue. It was more of
a skill willing to. And here's the hard lesson. So
let me own this part. Here's the lesson. The lesson
is that he didn't really like me like that. To
put in the coaching. The right woman, he would have.
(22:54):
I wasn't the right woman. I feel that. So he
didn't make that effort. He didn't make that effort. And
I didn't know that until you go through some things
and life has a way of revealing things to you.
And you have to admit, sweetie, he didn't like you
like that. That's why he didn't care if you enjoyed
and were satisfied.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
He just want to get off.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
You know, after everything happened with you and the success
that you have, and now I'm sure people are like, okay,
have any of these guys.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Come back around and been like, give me another shot?
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Spin the block. No, because I because I use the
block feature on my phone for the glory of the Lord.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Oh, so you probably have some messages you just haven't seen.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
No, but there was there was one guy I made
a video where I talked about you need to let
the dead be dead. And I made a TikTok about it.
And I said ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Fuck you.
There will be no us. Because he had ghosted me.
For three years and then called me out the blue
in 2025 and said, hey, Teresa, I saw someone in
(24:02):
the garage that looked like you. And so it made
me want to pick up the phone and call you.
I was like, if you don't take your monkey ass.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
That's insane.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
So he's been blocked.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
We really do got the audacity.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
It was the audacity for me.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Men be men and girls.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
What does a happy ending, not that type, look like
for you?
Speaker 4 (24:25):
A happy ending for me looks like I'm okay mind, body, spirit,
and soul if I'm by myself or if I'm in
a relationship. And if I'm in a relationship, I am
still me.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Because I have lost me, right? And that's why it's
really important now to discover Teresa. What is Teresa like?
Because I spent way too long being a pick me.
I wanted to be picked to be the wife. I
wanted to be picked for, you know, the family, the
last name change, all of that to the point that
(25:03):
you don't even know who you are anymore. And so
now it's really important that I still have me. Cause
at the end of the day, like Beyonce said, it's
just me, myself and I.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I have, I.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Have two quick questions. Uh, first, if, who, what actors
would you want to play you in the movie?
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Natasha Rothwell's playing her.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Natasha Rothwell. Oh, is it already cast?
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Yeah, it's a series.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
It's a TV series and it will be Natasha Rothwell.
That's the only part that has been cast. Yeah. Well,
is that it'll be Natasha Rothwell.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
I love her.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I do too.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
That is amazing casting.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
That is amazing casting.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
She's so dope.
Speaker 5 (25:37):
You know how much I love The White Lotus and
I can't wait for that show to come back?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Yeah. Oh, that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
I didn't know that. Well, that's the first question.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Let me answer for you.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Yeah, thank you. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
And then, the second question, if, You were so transparent
in this 50-part series. Is there any part of that
50-part series that you wish you would have omitted? Like,
you wish you wouldn't have told this particular part? If
you could take any part back, would you be like, okay,
48 was too much, or 42, or..
Speaker 4 (26:07):
No. There's nothing that I wish I had omitted, because
there were certain things I did not put in there intentionally,
because I felt like it would have taken away from
the actual substance of the story.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Anything with his health, I purposely did not really go into.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
Just don't even do it. Look at you still caring.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
You know, it's so interesting.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
No, no, that's not caring. That's called, I don't want litigation.
And you will get litigation real quick talking about people's
health and you're not a diagnosed. That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (26:41):
Because I'm empathetic like that too. People could be so
fucked up to me. And I'm like, well, I don't
want to take it that far.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
Oh, not me, girl.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
I'm going to hell.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
I am.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
I am like that. I'm like, well, even though they're
fucked up.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
You're like Cardi B and you're like Michelle Obama. I'm screaming.
You know what?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
I'm going to be honest.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
You'll go to hell. Yep.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
I also feel like people who do really fucked up shit,
there's something more wrong with them than anything. And that's
why at certain times I can be empathetic because I
also know that karma is going to hit them. I
got to do shit to you. It's going to happen
on its own. And in advance, like, sorry for that, man.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Yeah. And I agree to a point. Like, I'm not
going to. That's the thing. I never wanted this story
to be salacious. So there was a part of me,
I didn't put certain details in there that would have
been absolute juicy, that would have been like, okay, now
you're doing too much. Because it really would have been
(27:34):
on him. In the book, I simply was being honest.
And in order to be honest, and I really did
go back and forth about how honest do you want
to be about the previous relationships. And a friend of
mine said to me, he said, if you're going to
write the book, write the damn book yeah like you
you don't have to be messy but you can keep
(27:57):
it real because he was like people are going to
understand that he probably didn't blow your back out yeah
but you loved him yeah anyway and and i loved
him anyway And for me, it was just like, okay,
that's not the most important thing. Like, he's my best friend.
You know, we laugh. But there comes a point where
(28:17):
you do have to be real with yourself. It's not
the most important thing, but it is a big component.
If you don't have that compatibility, you may run into
some issues. And then that led to the discovery of, sweetie,
he just don't like you like that.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Can I ask you, who was, out of these guys
in the book, and they all have code names, who
was the best sex?
Speaker 4 (28:39):
The one that was... Oh, you.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
It is the name of the show.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
I was about to say.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
The one that died?
Speaker 4 (28:52):
No. No. The monument.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Okay. And yes.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (28:59):
I love that. I honestly wasn't mad at him.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
I wasn't, yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
Because it felt like we all need, WMS is his
name in the book, we all need somebody that if
I'm having a bad day, shit ain't working right, we
know what it is.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
He never pretended.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
I always knew what it was. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Oh, the booty call.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Yeah basically just like we've all.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
Had booty calls like that i got i got someone
saying my phone right now well that's just an eggplant
i think.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
Everybody all this shit is booty calls i just want
to say yeah what do you have that's not a
booty call that's that's.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Not the point okay the main thing the main thing
i was not that you brought that up i had
to ask this question how do you come up with
the nicknames for the people um okay so it ties
to something personal about them the Beavis one is actually
(29:49):
okay let's keep it real the Beavis nickname was done
because he if ever he reads the book he will
know it's him okay okay Because that was an inside
joke between he and I.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
So y'all were sitting on the couch laughing at everything,
watching TV? Is that?
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
That's what I figured when I saw it.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Again, best friend. Best friend. That's why I thought he
was the guy.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
And Dick was terrible? Butthead?
Speaker 4 (30:16):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Beavis and Butthead.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
But will anyone else in the book know that you're
talking about them based off their names? Or is it
just Beavis?
Speaker 4 (30:25):
No, Beavis is the only one who would know he's Beavis.
Everyone else, I think, would absolutely be like, is this
about me?
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Well, how important is sex to you when it comes
to being with somebody? Because it feels like you were
okay to marry somebody who was subpar in the bedroom.
And then even Beavis was like a love of yours,
but subpar in the bedroom. So that's not high on
your list of priorities?
Speaker 4 (30:52):
It is. It is. But it took a while to
get to a place where I'm comfortable to admit that.
Because again, the churchy side of me was like, girl,
there's more important things. Like, you know, is he a Christian?
You know, is he this? Is he that? And the
only one that I described as subpar was Beavis.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
For the record. So it wasn't as if, wow, you
just walking around here just having sex.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
No, honestly, because sometimes we stay with people because of
the sex, too.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
You know, that's the thing.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Or we keep them around because of the sex.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
How did you come to that realization that it was
important to you?
Speaker 4 (31:34):
A lot of it is simple. Well, one is therapy.
Because again, this book, I had to do a lot of,
the book is a mirror that I'm holding up to myself.
And so there is something very magical about turning 40
where you are just like, listen, I am who I am,
doggone it. Like I, yes, I didn't make the best decisions,
(31:55):
but they were my decisions to make. Yes, some of
them paid off. Some of them did not. And I'm,
and I'm owning it and I'm trying to do better.
That kind of happened when I turned 40. So some
of it is really just the fact that I'm admitting
to myself, like, no, it's not the most important thing,
but it is in the top three. And while you
(32:16):
thought you were doing something, you wasn't doing nothing. You wasn't.
And that's why you're walking around angry.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
All that charity. Listen, do you consider Legion a scammer?
Speaker 4 (32:26):
No. No.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Interesting.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
That's interesting.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
Okay, so I consider Legion what he is. I consider
him a pathological liar. It's hard because this almost seems,
in my mind, a scammer, I feel like there's a
reason that they do it. Like, in a weird sense,
you're getting something. He just lied to lie. I simply,
(32:52):
there is no earthly reason as to why he lies.
And why he does the things that he does. There
was no reason for it.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Why do you think he wanted to get married then?
Speaker 4 (33:01):
So I had asked him. I asked him, why did
you marry me? You didn't have to. You didn't have
to bring paperwork involved. Like you easily could have been like, man,
this ain't working. I'm going to my sister's house. And
you could have moved out. And his response to me
without missing a beat, he said, I knew I had to.
And I said, why? And he said, because I knew
(33:23):
I could not keep you as a girlfriend. I knew
you would not have stayed as a girlfriend. He said,
I always knew from day one I was going to
have to marry you, that you were the marrying type.
And he was like, and I simply made the decision
that I was going to marry her. That's the only
way I can keep her.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
And he had an ex-wife, too, that you.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
Two.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Oh, two ex-wives.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
But I only knew about one.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
What?
Speaker 1 (33:46):
So do you and his ex-wife still speak like about anything?
Speaker 4 (33:49):
No, I have not spoken. So the ex-wife number two
is the one that I spoke to in the series.
I have not spoken to her since that one phone call.
And the way that I interpret now, I don't know
where she is and I hope she's doing well. Hope
she's blessed. if she has seen the series, then I'm
sure she is like, Oh my God. But I had
(34:11):
made a promise to her. I said, I won't ever
contact you again. And I would never tell my ex-husband
that I spoke to you. Obviously I did the series.
So he, he found out, but no, I have, I
have not spoken to her. So I hope she, I
hope she is doing so well because had it not
been for her, she was the first house of cards
that fell. Like once I talked to her, everything else
(34:33):
fell into place.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
If she reached out to you, though, you would be
okay to speak to her.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
Absolutely. Sheesh. If nothing else, to say thank you.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Okay, you know what else I wanted to ask you? Seeing, like,
different things online about when people's stories get turned into
a TV series or a movie. Because at a certain point,
it gets a little out of your hands, right? How
are you dealing with that? Because that's your baby. That's
your real life story. But Hollywood's a different type of thing.
(35:01):
And I'm sure even with the best intentions, it's going
to be a different story.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
It is. So here's how I describe it to people. Hollywood...
It's going to add some seasoning to the recipe.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Of course.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
The book is a recipe, right? The series is a recipe.
In other words, that's me putting it out there, but
I'm fully aware that Hollywood's going to add some seasonings.
It's still going to be lasagna, but it's going to
have a different, you know, there's been, there's so many
(35:37):
different ways to make it.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
I'm okay with that.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
However, what I did for, you know, myself, because I
have an amazing team of agents and attorneys, Is making
sure that I'm in the writer's room. I'm an executive producer.
So it's not as if..
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Oh, congratulations.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
That's huge.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Yeah, it's not as if I just signed away the rights.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
That's amazing.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
You know, you get a check and that's it. No. Like,
sign yourself up for multiple checks. You know what I mean?
Every episode, you're an executive producer. You're in the room.
So even though they're adding... you know, different, different seasoning
to it. You're still in the kitchen while they are
working on your recipe.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
And that was important to me. So you do have
to let go some of the creative. I'm fully aware
that the 50 part series couldn't, it has to be
changed just a little bit to go to television. That's
just the truth.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Also, it has to be changed so people will watch
it and won't know the ending. If you don't know
the ending, you're less likely to tune in.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Exactly. And that's part of adding the seasoning.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
So I wonder if at the end, you're going to
have like, A new man.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
You know how they... That's a Hollywood ending where y'all
run into each other. You got your new boo with you,
you know? And you like, oh.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
We'll see. But I'm absolutely... I'm okay with letting... You know,
this story has been my baby. But I'm okay with... Okay. Y'all...
I trust you guys.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
You raised the baby now.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Right.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Co-parenting. We have an amazing group of people who are
working on this television show. And I believe wholeheartedly they
are going to create something that each one in this
room is going to be like, did you see that episode?
I believe that.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Would you do a dating app? Like, would you be..
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Absolutely not. Yeah. Absolutely not.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
How are you going to meet somebody, you think?
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Like... So, in order for... There's two things. One, in
order for me to meet someone, it's going to have
to be someone I'm friends with. The idea of meeting
someone ever on a dating app is I'm just not
doing it.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
Okay. I'm not. If me and you are girlfriends and
you were like, I'm trying online dating, I would support you.
Let me know what I need to do to be
there for you. You will not catch me on another
dating app.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
What about a matchmaker?
Speaker 4 (37:55):
No. No.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
So you're all about organic.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Listen, I tried it.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Y'all, I tried it and I ended up with Legion.
I think I get a pass.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
You have PTSD from that.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
Let me meet somebody at Publix. And it's so cool. Like,
we're shopping. It's a pleasure. Yes.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
And he's just talking. And I'm just talking.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
And then he's like, he don't even ask for my number. Like,
it needs to be, it almost needs to sneak up
on me. Right. Because I'm so like, whoa.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Well, what would you like a dating event where all
singles come out?
Speaker 4 (38:31):
What's that process going to look like for you? It's
it's going to. So before my ex, I'm I'm one
of those women who started out on a scale of
one to ten.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
I would start out at an eight or nine.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
After that, I'm now to two or three. I do believe,
and I am okay, that trust needs to be earned,
not automatically given.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Because you'd jump in.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
I would jump in. And I paid a price for it.
So now, I just feel like the right guy, the
right one, is going to understand what I went through
and understand I moved differently. So before our first date, yes,
I ran your background. And why are you paying all
that for car insurance, sir? You're going to have to
(39:21):
be okay with that. LinkedIn. But I'm serious.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
But at least you know it's a real car.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
Yeah. Not a BMW parked behind the NCR building. But yeah,
trust has to be earned. My circle is so small.
And everyone in my circle are people I've known for
five or more years. Because I'm just not in a
place where... To welcome in new.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Have you been dating at all? Or are you just
keeping it?
Speaker 4 (39:53):
I put my toe in the pool with a guy
I met. And I talked about it in the book.
So this is Casper. Okay.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Casper.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Casper, friendly ghost.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
The way I met Casper was like a meet cute.
Y'all know what a meet cute is? Like in the
Hollywood movies, like think of it as like a man
and woman are both getting pajamas. She reaches for the tops.
He reaches for the bottoms. And it was a meet
cute moment that I- Was it at Publix? No, it
was at a work event. So I knew he had
a job.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Okay, that's important.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
I knew he had a job. I knew he worked
in law enforcement, which meant that I also knew that
he could pass background and polygraph. So when I met him,
it was really cool, really organic. But all of his
conversations centered around sex. And it was like... Goodbye. Yeah. Like,
you don't want a relationship. You are looking for a situationship. Yeah.
(40:45):
And at the time, I.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Already had one.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Was that the guy that was at your house when..
Speaker 4 (40:51):
No.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Angela... What?
Speaker 1 (40:53):
I'm just asking questions.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Yeah, I bet you are.
Speaker 1 (40:55):
Angela..
Speaker 4 (40:55):
In your business.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Because you know I'd be invested.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Look at her being a journalist.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
No, it is not.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
I'd be invested in a story.
Speaker 4 (41:03):
No.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Which is crazy.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Listen, if I had a guy at my house and
another guy I used to mess with showed up, I'm
not going to the door.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
No, no. See, I, and I get that, but it
wasn't that type of atmosphere. It felt, it felt empowering
when the guy who you used to, who you really
loved didn't love you because of your size is trying
to spin the block and happened to spin the block. And,
and at the time, Another dude was at your house.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
Satisfaction.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
It really was. So it wasn't a situation of, oh,
like you being messy. No, it wasn't. I really stood
there and was just like, so how can I help you?
Speaker 5 (41:40):
That's crazy to me, too, with that whole situation with Beavis.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
And you asked him, like, is it my size?
Speaker 4 (41:46):
Is it my size?
Speaker 1 (41:47):
And he said yes. But it's like, bro, first of all,
your size.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Wait, was Beavis smaller? Or was he..
Speaker 4 (41:57):
He's slender. Yeah, slender.
Speaker 5 (41:58):
But I think he clearly had feelings for you, though.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
But that's just crazy to me. Like, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (42:07):
So one of the things and that's what I think
a lot of plus size women will tell you they've experienced.
Men will be OK with being intimate with you, but
they will not claim you. They will not love you
out loud. Because of your size. It's almost a fetish thing. Yes.
It does, in fact, exist. Oh, yeah. And that was
(42:29):
my first time experiencing that. And it was heartbreaking because
I really thought I was different. I really thought this
was going to go all the way. Again, we talked
about having kids.
Speaker 5 (42:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
It just, it didn't go that way. But when I asked,
is it my size? It took me years to get
to a place where I was finally like, I'm ready
to hear the answer. Cause if it's not personality, if
it's not, you know, this or that, if it, I mean, if,
if I'm, if it's not that I'm a bitch, then
what is it? And he was one of those people.
If you just said, what is it? He was going
(43:06):
to be like, you know, change the subject or no,
he was never going.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
To say it.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
So I finally had to put it on the table and, And,
you know, ask that question. And when he said, yeah,
you know, I, I guess when I, when I see
myself with someone, I see her slant, you know, smaller
than it was confirmation. Did it make.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
You feel like I need to do something about that? Like,
was there a point ever that you felt like, cause
like everybody right now, I feel like is on Ozempic.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
Everybody's doing all kinds of stuff, right? People are getting surgery.
Speaker 5 (43:37):
They, you know, putting down payments, doing payment plans and
doing Ozempic and doing all the things. Was that ever
anything you felt like you needed to change yourself? Or
were you always like, I'm confident in who I am?
Speaker 4 (43:46):
Neither. So I'm on GLP one now, but that's for me.
Cause again, it was never about him. It was really
one of those moments where I said to myself, well,
You could, you could try to lose half your weight
to get him, but then is that what you want? Right. Like,
(44:09):
do you, do you really want to almost kill yourself
to get down to like a size 10 so that
a guy will might. actually choose you because again there's
other issues at hand so do you want to be
chosen that bad.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
But also he'll only choose you until a size 8
walks by then he's like oh sorry you gotta.
Speaker 4 (44:32):
Get to an 8 now and the thing with him
that I you know talked that I said in the
book was that I never wanted to be I never
wanted to feel like someone's scientific experiment and that's how
I felt was I ain't never been with a big
girl let me try oh my god it's amazing but
like stay over here and I'm going to be out
in public with elsewhere. But then also it, it got
(44:53):
to a point. You don't want to feel like a
scientific experiment because, But also, I don't want to be
chosen by default, meaning I have dated everybody else. Teresa's
still here. You the real MVP. I'm going to go
ahead and wife you up.
Speaker 5 (45:08):
But when you said it's both, now do you feel
confident in who you are, though? Because I feel like
you radiate confidence when we speak to you right now.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
Because I'm at an age where it's like, honey, this
is me. Yes, I got a fupa dog one, and
I do. I got rolls, and sometimes they sweat, and
it's Atlanta heat. But I have shapewear. I change my
hair whenever I feel like it. And I own the
fact that this ain't mine, but it's mine because I
bought it.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Well, it looks good.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
It does look great.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
You look good.
Speaker 4 (45:35):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (45:36):
I want to say that. You do.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Because a lot of it is I've been working on me.
And I'm open about the fact that I'm still working
on me. Like, it's not that, oh, Reese's Teases healed. No,
I ain't. I got PTSD like a motherfucker. Right. But
I'm trying.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
I do feel like everybody dating has PTSD, though.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Even people married, like... Don't we all?
Speaker 4 (45:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (45:58):
Who has had like an amazing experience like their whole life?
Speaker 1 (46:02):
I have a lot of PTSD too. I ain't gonna lie,
like reading your book, I was like, ooh, yeah, I've
been there. Oh, I've done that. I've been that.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
I've, you know, made excuses. I've, stayed around too long.
I've known somebody was cheating, but not left right away.
I've done all the things, you know, letting people talk
to you crazy.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Also, that's a thing too.
Speaker 5 (46:19):
And even though I think it was Dallas, he didn't
put his hands on you.
Speaker 4 (46:23):
No, but talk to me. Like I was, that was
the most verbally abusive relationship. Yeah. And I fully do
believe that. That it would have escalated to physical.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
That's how it starts.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:38):
And I also feel like sometimes we look at people
talking to us crazy like they really care.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Yeah. You know, like, oh, that's my bitch. Oh, you
better not. And we're like, oh, he really, you know.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
He don't play about me. No. You can play.
Speaker 5 (46:53):
Now coming to where you are now, what would you
tell a young Risa Tisa?
Speaker 4 (46:58):
Like.
Speaker 5 (46:59):
If you could give yourself some advice, I know there's
a lot because of the way he shook your head.
But what are some things that you would tell your
younger self, seeing where you are right now? Because I
feel good about where you are. But what would you say?
Speaker 4 (47:14):
The first thing I would tell her, you're not delayed. Like,
you're not... You're not delayed. I remember being younger thinking, dang,
when is it going to be my turn? It's happening
for everyone else. I would also tell her, sweetie, there are,
in fact, I know you don't believe this now, so
(47:36):
life is going to have to show you, there are
worse things than being single. There was a time when
I thought, the worst things being single. And that's because,
you know, I didn't want to be alone.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Right.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
And I avoided that. And so I stayed in situations
just to have somebody. I would tell the younger me,
there's worse things than being single. Be patient. Because if
you're not patient and if you're in a rush, you
literally are going to end up marrying chaos and calamity.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
And dead.
Speaker 5 (48:07):
And dead.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
And... You know, thank God it didn't go left because
I'm fully aware this situation could have gone a very
different way. And for a lot of women out there,
it has gone a different way. They weren't able to
leave as easily as I was able to. They weren't
able to kick him out and be like, I'm going
to beat you like the bitch you are. Like they
(48:29):
weren't able to do that. So be grateful in the
fact that you were able to leave. But now you're
having to deal with a lot of stuff that you
never had to deal with before. All because you were impatient.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Right.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
And for what? To deal with someone's unhealed son? You
know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (48:46):
I knew you.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
Now you have a divorce on your record. For what?
And sometimes I ask myself, outside of Resa Tisa, was
it worth it? Was it worth it to be so quick?
You didn't want to go through COVID by yourself. So
you moved a guy in. You almost had a baby
with this man. I recognize my life would be completely different.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Completely different.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
You'd be co-parenting. You might have stayed. That's the truth.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
The mindset I was in, I probably would have stayed.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
And you probably would have never went public with your story.
Speaker 3 (49:19):
Ever.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
Have been like, let me protect my child.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Let me protect my child. And I probably would not
have left because one thing about me, I tend to
be loyal to a fault. That man never thought I
was going to leave him.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
What's your son?
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Aquarius. All day. Me and Megan Thee Stallion have the
same birthday. So I would have told the younger me,
calm down, work on you. So that way, when the
devil sends you a new tactic, you know what it
is and you can dodge it instead of opening the
(49:52):
door and letting it in.
Speaker 5 (49:54):
But in a way, everything happened how it should.
Speaker 4 (49:56):
Do you think it was worth it? How do you
answer that question? I can answer that question now, right,
in 2026 and say yes. Yeah. If you had asked
me that question in 2025 or 2024, my answer would
have been no. So even after going viral, there was
a part of me that was like, this wasn't worth it.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Right.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Because with going viral, I tell my family and friends,
everybody wants to go viral until it's time to pay
the viral tax. Yeah. And people don't realize there is
a tax to going viral. People will love you, they
will support you, and it can turn overnight.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
That's a fact.
Speaker 5 (50:35):
But what I like is that you took that virality,
I gotta say the word, virality.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Oh, girl, it messed me up too.
Speaker 5 (50:42):
You took that virality and turned it into, and really
monetized it.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Because I think that's important too, right?
Speaker 5 (50:48):
It is. Like, you're not going to get this story
for free. And you're not going to come at me
and do all that shit. That's how I feel like
with athletes playing a game. You know, when you're playing basketball,
when you're playing football and people are coming at you
and talking crazy, at least you're getting paid. And so
that's just a way to look at it. Like at
least you've been able to monetize it. You got your lawyer,
you got your agents, you got your show.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
I was going to ask, did you have any big
change up friend wise? Like did some friends act different
in a bad way or different in a good way?
Or was there any like... Because I know when you
get quote-unquote famous, your circle changes. Did you experience that?
Speaker 4 (51:25):
I don't... Somebody's going to roll their eyes when they
hear me say this. I never thought of myself as famous, ever.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
So, the friends have still been friends. Like, they've all
been like, oh my God, look at what is happening.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
They walk out with you and people know you and
they're like, oh shit.
Speaker 4 (51:44):
So, I haven't experienced a change-up. I have experienced where...
Life has, has taken some people we've gone a little
bit of our separate ways, meaning, and I, and I
said this in the book where there are some people it's,
it's too much energy to try to keep up with them.
Like I'm always the one reaching out and I keep
(52:06):
telling people like, I'm not Kobe. This is not the Lakers.
I cannot carry the team. So to that extent, it's,
there's been a shift. But it's never been anything that's like, dang,
like you really did that to me? You know, stabbed
me in the back kind of thing. It's never been that.
Speaker 3 (52:21):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
It's been mostly like, this is a mate, like friend.
I'm so proud of you. I've had more of that
than anything else. And hopefully it stays that way.
Speaker 1 (52:33):
Now we have this little segment we do call From
the Feed.
Speaker 4 (52:36):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
Jordi, Jor, you have your From the Feed?
Speaker 4 (52:38):
Yes. Okay. Okay.
Speaker 5 (52:41):
And so this is us taking a step from social media,
and then you just weigh in on it.
Speaker 4 (52:45):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Oh, dear.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Okay, so mine is, U.S. men are twice as likely
as women to fall in love with a robot. One
in six men say a conversation with AI has turned
them on.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Thoughts, comments, concerns?
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Wait, how many men?
Speaker 4 (53:00):
One in six. One in six. Ooh.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
And I said men are more likely to do that.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
Have you ever seen the movie Her? Yes, twice as much.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
With Joaquin Phoenix. Mm-hmm. We are literally on our way
to that.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
What happened to that?
Speaker 4 (53:12):
If you have never seen the movie Her, it's not
scary or anything. H-E-R, and it stars Joaquin Phoenix. It
is a movie about a man who has an AI..
Speaker 3 (53:24):
Girlfriend. Girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
Mm-hmm. And, like, full-on girlfriend. But she is only a
voice in his device. Oh. And it's like a full relationship. Like,
they have phone sex.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
Right.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
And my fear is, as AI is rising, is that
we are going to move into a society where we
literally substitute real relationships for AI. And I hate it,
but I feel like..
Speaker 3 (53:54):
AI is definitely going to be the downfall of humanity.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Yeah. You think?
Speaker 3 (53:57):
Oh, girl, I hate it.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
Yeah, but I feel like we all hate it, so
we're not going to do it. There's some people who will.
Speaker 3 (54:03):
No, there's a lot of people who use it. I
just don't like... I think there's a time and place
for it, but I don't like the way people.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
Are using it. People are using it in ways that's inorganic.
What scares me with AI is that right now there
is no fence around it to keep things in check.
You don't know what's going on because it's so new.
And so it's running wild.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Because people are using it to... People are using it
to write books. People are using it to try to
write things.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Yeah, but those books are terrible. Okay, so a Christmas present.
First of all, don't laugh. I did a Christmas present
for my boss, and I wrote an AI book. He
never read it, but that's fine.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
What was it about? You know he never read it
because you could tell?
Speaker 4 (54:40):
Because I've been waiting for him to read it. So
I told AI to make him a coach of the
Atlanta Falcons and led them to their first Super Bowl win.
that's how I know he hasn't read it because.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
He's a huge Falcons fan.
Speaker 4 (54:54):
And so he hasn't read it but it was a
full AI.
Speaker 5 (54:59):
Book see now that's funny and that's cute.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
But people trying to pass off a book that they
wrote to.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
Sell it's nothing cute like that as a kid totally
fine AI.
Speaker 4 (55:10):
Said that I got raided by the FBI What? Yes.
It was a whole TikTok. They said Reese and Tisa
got raided by the FBI. And then it had a
mansion in Miami. I was like, who the hell lives there?
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Period.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
But I mean, it's nice.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
Well, it was an FBI agent.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
No, it was saying that I got raided by the FBI.
It didn't show the agents. It just said it was
clearly an AI video.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
That's crazy. This is my from the feed. Hold on. Okay,
so he met this woman the second time she came
to his house. She set him up.
Speaker 5 (55:43):
She went outside, bought four men, and they robbed him.
How do you trust somebody enough, and when do you
trust somebody enough to let them come into your space,
into your home, or for you to go to theirs?
Speaker 4 (55:53):
Okay, so I can answer this after the Legion fact.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Yes, after.
Speaker 4 (55:57):
Okay, thank you, because I learned my lesson. You're not
coming to my house. Okay, so you're not coming to
my house. Again, for me, At this point in time,
we need to be friends. We've known each other a while.
There are people I have known five years, still ain't
been in my house.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
Whoa.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
It's okay.
Speaker 5 (56:20):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (56:20):
All right. You've been through a lot, though. That's trauma.
And I'm okay. But in dating, I understand that that's
a little different. The second date is way too soon.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
He was wilding.
Speaker 4 (56:35):
That's way too soon.
Speaker 1 (56:36):
Men be quick to come over, though.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
They do. That is true.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
Akeem will never have met you and show up at
your house.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
But that's because gay men live a different life.
Speaker 5 (56:45):
Gay men be living on the edge.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
We do.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
I was going to say, yes, gay men do. But
I was thinking about lesbians.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
Because..
Speaker 4 (56:55):
I watched different lesbian shows like The L Word, and
I was like, y'all move in.
Speaker 3 (57:00):
Oh, yeah. The You All Lesbians, they move in.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
But here's the thing. As we all know, I can't
say shit now. You're like, I'll let him move in.
It was COVID, though.
Speaker 1 (57:09):
A lot of people made COVID mistakes.
Speaker 4 (57:11):
I'm going to be quiet.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
COVID did play a big part. But what about going
to someone's house?
Speaker 4 (57:17):
I feel like, so I think it depends on how
I know you. So, again, if I know you, like,
through work, Because I may go to your house, but
I don't necessarily go in. I know that sounds weird.
I probably have been to people's houses and I was like,
I'll just wait out here because that's your space. I'm
not going in if I wouldn't let you in.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
Oh, that's great.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
So I can wait outside or better yet, I can
meet up with you. You're not going to my house, right? Angela,
you don't ask me about sex. Like, we should be cousins.
Speaker 5 (57:49):
I feel like I want you to come over and
cuss me.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
It is a cute house.
Speaker 4 (57:54):
I know.
Speaker 1 (57:54):
They often in my house.
Speaker 4 (57:55):
Come over. I bet your house is gorgeous. It is cute.
It's a Brooklyn house, though.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
It ain't like where you live. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 4 (58:03):
Yeah, but you're Angela Yee.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (58:05):
I know you got a contract. Don't do that.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
I'm crying.
Speaker 4 (58:08):
I don't care if it is Brooklyn. I know it's nice.
It is nice. See? I know it's nice.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
Now you're not coming to my studio because there's no
women who fit in there.
Speaker 4 (58:18):
Yeah, you're never invited. You've never had a woman in
your house? No, why would a woman be in my house?
As a friend?
Speaker 5 (58:23):
No.
Speaker 3 (58:24):
I have the studio apartment.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
I can't come over? You can.
Speaker 4 (58:27):
You don't have a dining table? Do you have a futon?
Speaker 3 (58:30):
No, it's a studio.
Speaker 4 (58:31):
I live in New York. I live in the East Village.
Speaker 3 (58:33):
No, I have a desk and a bed.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
You let guys come over, though.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
Of course. I'm sleeping with them.
Speaker 1 (58:38):
Do you change the sheets after every encounter?
Speaker 4 (58:40):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 3 (58:40):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (58:40):
You lying.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Oh, you do. No, I change my sheets every month.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
But you have more encounters than once a month.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
That's not the point.
Speaker 4 (58:47):
Wait a second. Now I have a question. We have
all kinds of DNA everywhere. What do you mean you
change your sheets every month?
Speaker 2 (58:53):
I do.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
I change my sheets every month.
Speaker 5 (58:54):
Once a month?
Speaker 4 (58:55):
Once a month?
Speaker 1 (58:57):
Usually, yeah. You got to do better.
Speaker 4 (59:00):
So if guy number one comes the first week of
the month, you're not changing the sheets after he leaves?
Before God.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Number two? He's not. He'll probably wipe down the stain.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
This is too much information. I have a sex sheet.
And I put it on the bed.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
So you clean the sex sheet?
Speaker 3 (59:22):
Yeah, I clean the sex sheet all the time.
Speaker 1 (59:23):
Is it like a yoga mat?
Speaker 3 (59:24):
No, it's like a sheet.
Speaker 4 (59:26):
It's like a flat sheet or a finished sheet.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
What material is it? It don't matter.
Speaker 3 (59:30):
I clean that every time I use it.
Speaker 1 (59:31):
Is it like a wipe down clean or is it
a washing machine?
Speaker 4 (59:34):
So it doesn't seep through to the other sheet? No. Okay.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
Isn't it called something? It's called a..
Speaker 4 (59:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
If it's a phrase for it, please let me know.
Speaker 4 (59:42):
I know what I'm getting you for Christmas. Get me
a sex sheet, baby. I know straight men that have
done that. That does what? They have a sex sheet. Yeah.
Or sheets that... It's just, I guess you know that..
Speaker 3 (59:55):
But also, lately I've been going to... I've been hooking
up at Third Place. I don't really let niggas at
my place that much anymore.
Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
What do you think is more dangerous, though? Because don't
you think going to someone else's place... Have you ever
been to someone's house and it's so dirty?
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Yes. I left.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
I was going to say. I walked in, someone talked
to me, like, ooh, girl, I'm out this morning.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
I just left.
Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
It's dangerous for a girl. You have to realize that
our danger is not as much as yours. So with
gay people, there's no power dynamic because we're both men.
Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
I got you.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
So with men and women, there's a power dynamic because
men are usually physically stronger and et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
But can you fight?
Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Girl, no, but they probably can't fight either. We both gay.
Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
I can understand. It's different.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
So the secret is to feel safe, be gay.
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
Yeah, I guess so. Would you go to a guy's house?
Or would you have him come to Brooklyn?
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
You know what's crazy? I don't really go to people's
houses like that.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
I don't either.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
Yeah, I never really..
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Because I like my space. Yeah. I like... Let's meet.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
The thing about going to other people's houses is you
can leave whenever you want.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
That's a fact.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
True.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
When you invite someone over, you have to like... The
Uber's here.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
You have to like give hints.
Speaker 5 (01:01:05):
I got to..
Speaker 3 (01:01:05):
I remember back.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
In the day when I used to have to like pretend..
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
I faked a meeting.
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
This is when I lived in Jersey.
Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
Yes, you fake like you're going somewhere.
Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
So both of you leave at the same time.
Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
And then I'll drive around the block and come right
back home.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
I haven't had a day job in six years, girl.
I faked a meeting. I'm like, ooh, girl, I got
a meeting.
Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
For what?
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
I'm a comedian. But yeah, I faked a meeting.
Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
I have not had to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
Maybe you should be gay. Have you thought about that?
You know when you've been through some things as a woman,
you like..
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Switch it up. Because there's certain things... I just don't
want to give up.
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
Okay. That's fair. I'm with that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Bad sex.
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
It wasn't all bad.
Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
It was just the one.
Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
Let's be clear.
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
It was just the one.
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
What about white men?
Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
What about them? No, no, no. No, I'm asking. Are
you open to everybody? Yeah. So I'm not... I'm absolutely
not like, oh, no, I would never.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
Have you ever? If I... I don't know if I did.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
In college, yes, I did. All right. That's everybody's answer,
in college.
Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
In college. I tried it in college. But yeah, if
I met someone who loved me and respected me and
was honest, I'm absolutely not going to be like, nah,
you too short. Nah, you too this, you too that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
You would date somebody shorter than you?
Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
I would.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
As long as we don't look like Cole and Big Shirley.
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
Because you never saw Big Cheryl. Because Cole only came
to the chest. So you never saw what she looked like.
But yeah, because here's the thing. What if you miss
out on a real dude that really is like, nah,
I don't play about you and I really love you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
I'm not dating nobody shorter than me. I'm only 5'3.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
Oh, well, girl, you're going to be hard-pressed to find
someone who's shorter than you. There's a few.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
They exist.
Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
They definitely exist.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Can you imagine? That would look crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
So when I said shorter than me, I don't mean
there's a standard. But yeah, he just needs to be
my friend.
Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
Well, Risa, Tisa, I am manifesting all of that. I
feel it for you. This is your season.
Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
Oh, thank you. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
So whatever it is, like, honestly, you're so much fun.
So amazing. Congratulations on this book. Congratulations on the series.
I think it's so inspirational to see you turning something
that was bad into something amazing. Just being honest and
authentic to who you are.
Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
Thank you. Thank you, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
You shouldn't be. You should have had a drink.
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
No. We wouldn't be talking about Beavis.
Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
I would have been like, did you understand the color purple?
Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
Did I put color purple in the book? I don't remember,
but it was like color purple. Lord.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
Well, anyway, we are looking forward to this and make
sure y'all pick up this book. What the fuck do
I do now? Oh, what TF do I do now?
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
I'm sorry. You know what it stands for.
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
I do.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
One more book question are you gonna do an audible
yes great and you should put.
Speaker 4 (01:04:14):

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):

Speaker 3 (01:04:32):

download it when I get home.
Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
That should be definitely on there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
With some added stories.
Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
Because it's already done.
Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
It's already done. It's done.
Speaker 5 (01:04:40):
Yeah, that's done already. That's a no-brainer. Anyway, it's lip service.
Risa Tisa.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
And we love you.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
