Speaker 1 (00:00):
What are you gonna do when she's in a relationship.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's a different my Shila. I'm gonna tell him
she will always be my Shila. But y'all married when
I got a shotgun. In case this gets crazy, there's
some boundaries in place.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Hey guys, this episode is brought to you by boost Mobile.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
You knew that you and bust to have similar spirit.
Has anybody ever told you that?
Speaker 3 (00:38):
No, it's very It's like you're very big on the outside,
but very emotional in loving and the.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Inside vulnerable and.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
You just love aggressively because your energy is that.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Weve Leah love aggressively. That sounds so grown.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Has nobody ever said that's you know.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
If a woman said that to me over our first lunch,
I'd be like, this is it? This is it? It
just happened. You do feel that, you feel that that
was so grown, that was so grown. It felt like
a pickup line. It's like I wasn't all know it
was it just it just it just happened. I was
(01:21):
just like, oh, ship, Angie, the possibilities are in this.
You know me, you feel seen, you feel seen, my soul.
I've been working so hard to cover this all up
and she just broke my ship down in two seconds.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
And ladies and gentlemen, that is Tyrese real life. Tyrese
is our guest today. I love that you aren't here
your first time on the pod.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Yes, I was just explaining to you the pod is
a little different than some of our We've had meaningful
interviews in.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
The past, but this is just a little warm You know.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
I value the experiences of our real life because I
think people really can learn from them, and so they
go a little deeper.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
And you said, oh no, I mean this is this
is where. This is the place I live every day,
This is where I function from, This is where I
would rather be. You know, you know, I got I
got managers and folks pulling me to the side all
the time, like, you know, just bring the energy up.
You know, everything doesn't have to be so deep and
(02:27):
in so many details, and but that you know, the
Capricorn and me, I'm I'm I'm I wear my heart
on my sleeve. I lead with my vulnerabilities. I trust easy.
You know, I deal with people taking their access for granted,
often all while still feeling very misunderstood. You know, really,
(02:50):
Oh god, this I felt like I understand me.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, what is the thing you think that people don't understand?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I mean, no two scenario is ever the same, you know,
like it'll be like, you know, did that really happen
or were you just doing interviews?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Or is that real?
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Yeah? Is that real?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
You know, because because you're emotional, very yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Right, but it's not I don't think anybody would schedule
a teer, you know, oh at three point thirty drop them.
It's not a movie. This is real life. So you
wake up and want to be married for the rest
of your life and get blindsided by a divorce, and
(03:41):
then you're pulling out your human calculator trying to process like, well,
what did I say? What did I do? And what
is what is what am I on the receiving end
of and how am I supposed to process what's happening?
All while the world believes that I'm the strongest, most
out for outspoken, big, huge, can Capricorn energy, you know,
(04:05):
loud vocal, takeover the energy of every room I walk into.
But I'm just this teddy bear, vulnerable processing everything.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
You know. It's so funny because I've known you for
so long now, We've had so many great conversations on
air and off air.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I run into you, haven't seen you in two years.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
I run into you in the street in La were
standing in the street for thirty minutes having a conversation.
You're so engaged with whatever you're doing in the moment,
And to me, that's you. Just like you said, You're
just like you have energy. And so if it's love,
it's energy. If it's sadness, it's a lot of energy.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
You just that energy.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
You put that energy on whatever it is, whatever is
happening in the moment.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
I get that about you.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
It's a movie.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
But when we were telling you, we were talking about
you coming today. I was telling Brittany, because Brittany is well,
she's younger than us. It's like, you know how Tyrese came,
Like how we got introduced to Tyrese And she got quiet.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
For a second.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
She probably thinks of you as tyres from you know,
Fast and Furious.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Whatever music or whatever.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
But I said, no, you don't remember the Coca Cola commercial,
and she hadn't seen it, so we all bust out
the Cola commercial.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Wow the first time.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
No. I mean, there's a whole generation of people that
know you from different eras, and there might be some
of the younger generations that don't remember being introduced to you.
I remember being introduced to you, and so even in
your highs and your lows and your emotional things and
all that that, I still see how I was introduced
(05:40):
to you, which was just like this entity who got
on this bus and this commercial with this crazy smile
and voice, and.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Everybody was like, who is that? Who is that kid?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
There was such a like a joy and you know
what I mean, You're just like you came in that way,
you came in that.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Way being happiness. It was it was real. It was
very real. Uh, this is what's interesting.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I feel like I want to insert the video right
there for people to see.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
For anybody who is not of the generation, just to
take you back to that moment.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Well you haven't seen it in a long time.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I just want to remind you how we were introduced
to tyres.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Boom boom.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Can you make sure I get cleared for that?
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Done? Done, done, done? No, But I want y'all to
know that I try my best to never get too
familiar with being blessed, like you're blessed. But do you
see it? Do you see that there's actually food in
(06:49):
the fridge, and that you're driving what you want to drive,
and that's this is the house that you really wanted
that you could you got it. It's furnished the way
you want it to be. Fun kids, just have the
pool is warm. Do you see how blessed you are?
Or have you allowed yourself to get too familiar with
being blessed? It's so focused on the next thing that
(07:13):
you've lost sight of what you already have. Other folks
have had, other folks have had five minutes of fame, Like,
guess it's what we've been hearing this for years. Oh
he got his five minutes of fame. Yeah the moment, Yeah,
I had thirty seconds. Five minutes of fame would have
been incredible. I had thirty seconds that has turned into
(07:34):
thirty years. So if you don't think my life feels
like Christmas every day, like every day like I'm sitting
there with Angie Martinez, bro, like I know you, but
I'll never get too familiar with your magic. Ever. Oh no, no, no,
she's been at it for I've been knowing of No, no, no,
(07:55):
it's Angie Martinez. Let's be clear.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
So yeah, it's it's it's allowing myself to be that
little kid that got on the bus and it has
I have been on this bus for thirty years and
cannot believe. And I literally say this every day, God,
why do you love me so much?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
That's crazy? What do I say all the time?
Speaker 5 (09:34):
He loves me?
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Whenever something I go, God loves me so much. I
don't ask why. I just make the statement. I say this.
This is like the past couple of years, this has
been like my thing. I say it all the time. Literally,
I could be like God.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
I'm in such in the mood for refreshing, oh.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Boom, oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
God loves me so much, Like anytime something happens.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
That is my go to phrase, God loves me so much.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
The reason that I put why in front of it,
it's not questioning him. It's me understanding that God's grace
is when he gives you what you don't deserve, right,
so someone who is entitled to it will never see
God's hand in it. Yeah this is mine, Yeah I
(10:21):
drive that. Yeah I got another show. Yeah, like it's me.
But when you understand that that did not have to happen,
and then it happened, and then it happened on such
a real level with real numbers attached, and you got
real guests that you're securing and all of this stuff.
Why does God love me so much? God loves you
(10:44):
so much because your heart is right. And I don't
really know of anybody who could ever say a bad
thing about Andrew Martinez. Now, they might not like you
when it's time to negotiate a deal, right because a
woman who I say no to something, Yeah, you say
no to something I can't pull up. But you know,
(11:05):
they have some entitlement issues and if you if you
say no, then they're like, oh, well you know what
I'm saying. I thought we was boom or No. One
wants to negotiate with Angie, right, because when a woman
functions from a place of knowing her self worth and
her self value, that gets very uncomfortable. When somebody trying
(11:25):
to throw you two dollars, like you some fucking chicken
chicken nugget in the game.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Yeah, those days have passed me. I used to take
chicken nugget money just because I was humble, and I
thought I was supposed to you know, but now you know,
I'm in my know my value era Okay.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
And and sometimes and again going back to that why question, right,
sometimes the humility would make you disappear in the room.
Don't be too humble where you disappear here in the
deal terms. You know, I'm just because you're functioning from
(12:03):
a yo. I'm just so grateful for the opportunity. You
know what I'm saying. This could have you could have
given anybody this opportunity. So now you are here, super humble,
and it's genuine. But then they milk the humility and
the gratitude and the appreciation that you have for the
opportunity and they say, well, nigga, you so grateful, take
this two dollars.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
But also it's like it's almost like almost a little
bit of an imposter syndrome. I always felt like I'm
just so lucky to be in the room. But then
but no, but if you think about it in a
way like, well, God put me in this room, so
y'all should see me the way He sees me. Yes,
so if I'm in this room, them, I'm supposed to
be in this room.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
And I see you. Yeah, I see you even without
me physically being here. I see you even when I'm
not with you, when I'm not around you. It's It's
always good. God is good to Angie Martine. You are
always engaging, You are always creating safe environments, always warm
(13:07):
and personable. And you know I often say this, right,
I got a lot of different sayings, but one of
the sayings is who you are is who you are. Literally,
you can go get twenty million next week and you'd
be like, yo, I just got twenty mili. But it's
not going to change who I am. I'm not going
(13:29):
to start treating people differently. Well, I can say from
experiences not about money, but from like making more money
than I never thought I would ever see ever in
my life. Theres a regular black kid from South central LA.
I was like, it's not the money that changes people. Right.
(13:56):
There's a book called as a Man thinketh so is
he and as a Man Think of speaks to the
specifics of who you are is already there. And whatever
you end up doing, whatever your intentions are, you're a
(14:20):
monster waiting on an opportunity to be a monster. You know,
you're a really bad person and now that you've got money,
and now that we can see the extensions of your evil,
you're a bigger monster and you are now like an
evil genius. And then there's the purity of when you
(14:42):
put the money or the opportunities in this good person's hands,
everything about your intentions will reflect that you can't put
ten million dollars in a bad person's hands and not
expect him to do bad things.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
I feel like those bad people get it faster and
easier for somebody do.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Right, and then they end up in jail and we're
all sitting back going our damn. But you made this
all look so great. And so I often say, run
your raced, run your race. Stop losing people, stop losing
money over everybody else's gifts. What opportunities happened for them
(15:25):
first before you? What seems to be bigger and better?
What's a bigger check? Run your race?
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Race word.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Go to sleep at night and just know that God
really does love you, and he's doing everything for you
that he has in mind for you. God will never
give you something that belongs to somebody else.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
So good. Take me back to that kid, though, Yes,
how old is he? How old is he?
Speaker 2 (15:55):
On the bus I'm forty seven now, but I was
sixteen then.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
He was sixteen.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
On the yes, did you understand that then? Did you
understand that you were being blessed at that moment? Was
the blessing?
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Were you connected to God in that way?
Speaker 3 (16:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
No, I'd be lying. The only thing I wanted was
I wanted two things. There was this girl at the
end of my block, that's what you wanted that I
was flirting with. And her dad name was Steve, and
he was mean as hell, and I just was trying
(16:31):
my best to get her phone number. Man, I was
too young and she was too young for me to
be called in her house. But I just wanted her
daughter's his daughter's phone number. And I also wanted to
know what it would be like to have over one
hundred dollars in my pocket at one time, the only
(16:52):
two goals I had.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Did you ever get her number?
Speaker 2 (16:56):
I did, but it was too late at that point
because I had other numbers.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Because you was popping. Because we're not commercial everybody, I
don't care.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Was I in these streets then he was outside? Yeah?
So so yeah, I got a little busy. I was
unavailable for I was like, yo, man, when I was
just sitting around doing nothing. You ain't want to give
me your phone number?
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Yeah, now look at all these.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
At sixteen sixteen.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
It was cracked with a little money in your pocket.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Lottle money, way more than do you think.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
You had made it like I've arrived.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Oh yeah yeah. But but this is what's crazy, and
this might make some dudes uncomfortable, but I have to
put this out here. We often have this conversation about
men versus women. Man overly promiscuous sex and everything and
(17:56):
everybody all day every day, and women active too, So
I can't say just for men, but women will attack
women for being overly promiscuous. Men we get love and
props from going big partying all day every day, so
I'll never forget. I had a conversation with Rev. Rev
(18:17):
Run and he didn't come down on me. He wasn't
being condescending, he wasn't like cracking the whip. He just said,
he said, ty, let me ask you a question.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
So what.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
How many more?
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Mm hmmm.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Mmm, No, I'm just asking how many more?
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Like what's it gonna take?
Speaker 2 (18:47):
What's it? What's it gonna take? Well, you know, what
is your what's the goal here? You've been at it
for years, And first of all, I didn't have an
answer that was the start of a problem.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Is that right away at sixteen or you were older,
this is year's.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
No, this is like, you know when I got on
sixteen seventeen, because the place that I was functioning from
I was broke. I was ugly, I was, you know, struggling.
I was in the ghetto. Now all of a sudden,
it's full on record deal, traveling, first class limousines picking
me up from high school. Like literally I would get
(19:23):
out of school and a limo was there waiting on me.
Sweet Lady was on my first album. Lately, was on
my first ALP. Like everything just went crazy. And so
the place that I knew without even being aware of it,
the place that I was functioning from, was you need
to go big, because this shit is going to be
(19:46):
over soon, like the Cinderella Slipper. You've been broke your
whole life, food stamps, social Security check, wick vouchers, county checks,
government cheese, living in the hood, and every level of
dysfunction imaginable. My house mother, alcohol, father, crackhead. If you
(20:08):
think for one second that this is going to last
for longer than thirty seconds. You better go live your
best life to the fucking fullest, because you have been
broke and messed up and struggling for way longer than
this lightning in the bottle situation you're experiencing right now.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
So you're trying to gather it all.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Oh. Yes, So the place that most of us men
function from is when you see a fifty year old
in the club, he thinks is going to be over
for him soon. So when Rev asked me that question
and I didn't have an answer to it, that was
the start of my journey. I got married first woman
(20:53):
ever been with that I didn't cheat on, and I'm
in a relationship now five years. We just celebrated never
on her. I want to believe I have more access
to women than most dudes right now to this day.
But God removed that appetite from the realization how many more.
So sometimes it just takes you to have those very
(21:16):
specific conversation. And no men and no women want anybody
to ever come down on them. They want to feel
like they're being like beat down. But when somebody could
just pose a question and you leave and you just
like dangn.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
It shifts like you're wiring yes.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Because now you can't justify it. You can't justify it
like I could say to a woman, how many more
shoes with the match in handbag? Like? How many more?
And are you doing this because you love the shoe
in the handbags? Are you out here still in competition
(22:02):
with other women because you already you? Like I always say,
a tall person don't have to play tall. You're already tall,
You already great.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
A tree is a tree. A tree is a a tree.
Don't be trying to be a treat. Just a treat.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
I mean you out here treeing? Use a tree in motherfucke. Yeah.
So it's it's it's like every single day, literally, and
we all have our own individual process. These starts are expensive,
(22:41):
and I want to reach them all. I'm not losing
sleep over nobody else's gifts, nobody else's talents. I function
from a place of I'm so happy for you, and
people ain't happy for you, but I'm so. I'm like
the king of cheerleading for everybody that I love, I
(23:03):
show up. I'm not a fairweather. I'm not gonna run
when things get crazy and heavy. I'm there at three
four am in the morning. I'll take six months of
my life if needed, to put you in your marriage
and your situation in a better place if I can.
But I'm actually on this mission every single day to
(23:27):
meet and be introduced to a better version of myself.
Like that's all I want. I just want to bend
the corner and be like, yo, I never met you.
Everything about my life from this point on has to
include you, because this version of me is way better
than the person that I showed up as. And it's
(23:49):
every day and I take conversations and I have my moments,
and I'm in my bag and my zone. And then
if we think, Angie for a second, of how many
people we've lost. I know, right. So now there's a
saying it's arrogant to believe the next second of life
belongs to you. So if you think you got next
(24:13):
week to get to it.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Who's to say?
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Okay? Yeah, So there is a clock in my head
and there's a sense of urgency on my life. Not
that I think anything's going to happen to me, God forbid,
I'm here for the full run.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
What the truth is, something is going to happen.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
To all of us at some point there is.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
A clock on every human being walking around. That's literally
how this podcast was formed. You know this podcast before
I called it in real life. The original name of
this podcast was called We're All Going to Die.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Oh, and we changed it.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Because for a lot of reasons. This is a little heavy, tough, no, But.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
When we think, listen, if we wake up every day
and remind ourselves that we are on the clock, it
changes how you operate through the world.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
It changes what kind of conversations you want to have.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
It changes how you show up, how you present, like
what really matters to you.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
And I wanted to have those conversations.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
So if the name was We're All going to Die,
it's like, okay, we're all going to die and now what.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, I'm glad you changed that title.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I'm gonna want to be reminded of that every dingy.
Speaker 6 (25:16):
No.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
No, it's it's because there's life and death and the
power of the tongue. This is about. This is not
God's opinion.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
It is his, yeah, but power of the tongue. It's
a fact that's we are all going to die.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
But if you speak to death every day and it's
coming off of your tongue in any capacity. It's a
bad thing. It's an energy that you're putting in the universe.
We're all going to live. I don't think that we're
all going to live. I think tragic.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
I'm gonna die.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
This is something else if you say negative things. But
the fact that we are all going to die is
actual fact.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
It is an actual fact. But we're all gonna die
is energy that will contribute to a sooner expirational day.
Fair enough, We're going to live.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
You see how you respond to it.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
There were a lot of people that responded that way,
and that is the reason I changed the name. Yes,
it's not so much what I feel, because I know the.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
Spirit of it.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
The spirit of it is so I have today, What
do I want to do with it?
Speaker 7 (26:15):
You know?
Speaker 1 (26:15):
So the spirit of.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
How I release it and feel it is in a
positive way.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
But I realize it doesn't land that way.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
I didn't want that for you.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Yeah, so I changed it.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
I changed it. I said nothing about Angie Martinez and
death or trauma or something dark that's going to happen.
I didn't think of it as dark. Well, death is dark.
It ain't light. Maybe maybe light happens when you supposedly
go to heaven, yeah for sure. Yeah, but dark as
death and it's sad. But the whole thing is, you know,
(26:49):
get to it, you know, like get to it. Get
to it. Like it's arrogant to believe the next second
of life belonged to you. Get to it.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
What are you getting to right now?
Speaker 7 (27:01):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (27:02):
What am I not? These thoughts are expensive. I'm trying
to unload all of them, like I got it's too
much my brain, the visions, the dreams, the appetite. It's crazy,
like like crazy.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Do you want to change the world?
Speaker 2 (27:21):
That's just you know, yeah, it's crazy. Like I don't
ever question anybody's success because they get to money, how
they get to it. But I was like, it must
be a miserable life to be worth thirty billion and
you have no visions and ideas or joy or love
(27:42):
or joy or love. You're just like that's what's in
your account?
Speaker 1 (27:46):
What do you value most in life?
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Creativity? I'm addicted to creativity. I'm addicted to creativity.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Like, oh I get that, I understand that.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Yeah, Like I really feel like whatever this building is,
if somebody did not get the ideas around this building out,
we'd be sitting on the floor right now. If somebody
decided that the clothes you're wearing, the clothes that I'm wearing,
the glasses she's wearing, anything that they came up with,
(28:20):
we are the consumer unless y'all made these clothes yourself.
We love this outfit, Let me buy this outfit. But
if they had kept the vision and idea in their head,
we'd be sitting there with no clothes. So everything is
about implementing the vision and getting it out and stop
letting the shit bounce around in your head like you
(28:41):
got next week to get to it. Because if God
put that on you, he could have sent the idea
to somebody else. So the pressure that I put myself
under to get ideas out is crazy. I just wish
I had more money. I just need Listen to anybody
I hear watch you're about to campaign for some cash
(29:04):
the Angie Martinez Show. If you're watching this show and
you just so happened to be a multi multi billionaire, yes,
and you may have gotten to your money from TEG
real estate, whatever the case may be, and you're just like,
oh man, all I'm doing is running around buying the
latest may By the latest Bugatti. Richard Neil Patique, Philip
(29:26):
and I'm just I'm just spending money on random things.
Call you boy, your life will never be the same.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
What is the first matter of business? If that check
is written to you?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Teddy Pendergras movie, hmm, I.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Would love to see that movie.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
I've always wanted to see that movie the second that
you started talking about that. It's you know, certain things
just they fucking makes sense, and they're supposed to be
in the universe. It's like Kelly Rowland playing Donna Summer.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
That's supposed to happen if it's on Broadway. I don't know.
If it's a show, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
If it's that's supposed to happen, yes, or Teresa's supposed
to play Teddy Bendergrass.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Or how about this what me and Taraji doing our
own version of love Jones. Yes, the alpha male with
a strong woman, funny, like a romantic comedy but romance
and like.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
And you can't get these things funded.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
No, But after this show, it's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Yeah, they're gonna They're gonna call it Mona Scott Young
is their name? Yes?
Speaker 1 (30:37):
Young. Also, if you happen to be here. I also
have a few ideas.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Since we're talking about since we're talking about we ain't
got til next week to get to it.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
I have a few ideas fall in.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Us at the yellow table.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
And you know what, you know, it's so interesting about this,
you know, it's so interesting about this theme is I'm
turning a corner and my kind of understanding about money
we just had em agreed on and she was giving
me shit because I was saying, for a long time
in my career, I didn't put money at the center
because I was always taught, you know, not all money
is good money, or you do what you love and
the money will come. You know, I just had a
(31:19):
lot of false ideas about money, and I didn't value
it in a way that I should have because I
am not moved by it personally, right, I don't need it.
I don't need the bag, I don't need the shoes.
I'm not even like a material girl. I like nice shit,
but I'm not pressed about material things.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
But such a careful one.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
But the power in it, the power to tell people's stories,
the power of our gifts as creatives to be able
to get them out into the world. That requires money,
and I now understand that, and I now understand the
importance of those gifts that we have, and so yeah,
so I'm gonna ask for more money for everything that
(31:58):
I do now.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
For those reasons.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Here's my saying.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
So funny to hear you like.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I'm right there, I'm right there with you, my saying
which sounds very similar to yours. Maybe it's a Capricorn thing.
But I don't respect money, right, I don't respect money.
I know that you it takes a lot of time
and energy and grind and hustling work. I know that
(32:27):
most of what we do every day we can't get
done without money. And I also understand the value and
some of the most beautiful and precious moments in life
that don't cost a thing. Right, sitting on a bench
with a loaf of bread with your girlfriend they're feeding
swans or ducks or pigeons and smiling and laughing, sitting
(32:48):
at the lake. Is that that the high of all highs?
And how much that that beautiful moment costs you? Not much?
But when I said on respect money, it's from the
capacity of these ideas, and I mean it's literally, Angie,
(33:09):
these ideas will stay in my brain. If I don't
have money that could help me to get them out,
this would be a very different place if I was
sitting on that type of capital. And I don't have
no ill will and bad intentions with any of this
that I'm doing.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Yeah, and you're gonna give it a thousand.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I don't know. There is no other version of me
that knows how to do it other ice lights.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
This might be a selfish thing right now, but take
me through what you as Teddy Pendergrass sounds like, feels like,
looks like. And I only say this because I am
obsessed with Teddy Pendergrass.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
I don't feel like being lonely tonight. You see you
see I want some compunea and you look like you're
just my time. You're the kind you're the kind of
spirits are running freez.
Speaker 8 (34:16):
Let's take a sip of some cold, cold wine and
dance to the music nice and slow, and you won't
feel any kind of pression.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
We'll just let we'll just let me in the flow.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Come on and go with me. Wouldn't like that things
come on over the mine?
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Please?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
I mhm. Lee Daniels has to direct.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Oh my, you know that when I was saying, there's
certain things that are just supposed to be in the world.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
My god, diarrees, I'm not going to stop until it's done.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
Let's take it all the way though. That's what it
sounds like. But what is this?
Speaker 3 (35:22):
What is because I'm a fan of his and his story,
what is the spirit of it?
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Like?
Speaker 1 (35:28):
What is he? What is he telling the world in
this project?
Speaker 2 (35:34):
He gave me an assignment. I was one of the
Paul Barros' funeral carrying his casket. I know and love
his wife, Joan Pendergrass. We spent about at least seven
years prior to him passing, and he said, you know, no,
(36:00):
he's sitting in his chair. I'm not mimicking, but I
just want to show y'all. This was the dynamic of
our conversation. He's got a very raspy voice, kind of
like shine when he talks. You don't nobody could play
me in this movie.
Speaker 6 (36:18):
But you you know why, because everybody's running around here
trying to sound like me, sing like.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
You're the only one.
Speaker 6 (36:39):
Who really can act, really could sing, and you haven't
been trying to mimic me in my sound.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
That's why you're the one. You're my son.
Speaker 6 (36:56):
Although I have a son, I consider you a son.
That's why you're gonna play me in a movie.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
You hear that Jon to his wife, I hear you, honey,
can you give me some water? But it was like wow,
just seeing his neck and just kind of how he could.
(37:28):
It's only so much movement and just everything that I
was able to study. I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
You know what else is to his interesting is that
he had his own vices and demons and issues with women.
And how you were talking about the sixteen year old
version of yourself and red of telling you how many.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
How many more? He you know, he lived his best
life to the fuck. But see that's what I'm saying.
It's that appetite I do not. I can't speak for everybody,
but I don't believe most people body count would be
what it is if they actually knew that the money
(38:11):
or what makes them suddenly attractive or this, and that
it ain't going nowhere? Like what excuse do I have
now after thirty is they still screamed for me? I'm
still selling out arenas, I'm still doing the biggest movies
in the world. I still live in a twenty five
thousand square foot mansion with Rose Royces, my kids are
still having it's still here, so functioning from a place
(38:36):
that it's all going to go away soon had to
get off of me. So now, okay, let me be
more specific here, because I really want people to get this.
Sometime when you unexpectedly get blessed, your life feels like
(38:57):
a rental car, and if it's a rental car and
you in a limo for the prim or you in
a rental car and it's nice, you're treating it like
shit because you know it's gonna go away, or just
in general, this high that I'm feeling from this really
(39:19):
nice car doesn't belong to me, and at some point
I gotta give it back. So you're gonna go maximum
extreme level of whatever it is you're doing in that moment,
because you know at some point you're going to give
the Cinderella slipper back. At some point you're going to
(39:41):
be a frog again. At some point the swan is
going to become a pigeon again and just go back
to being regular. So while I have it, I'm gonna
go big. But what excuse can you come up with
now for steel clubbing? Steal Audient still spending on the
(40:03):
level that you're spending on still seeking validation, like when
is the last time you hold is a big one?
Speaker 6 (40:11):
He's a big one.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
When is the last time you were alone? And why
did that make you so uncomfortable? Because you need people
around you all day, every day, stroking your ego, complimenting you,
validating you. Oh so it so so. Basically, you got
(40:32):
people around you to feel like if you don't give
at least ten compliments a day, you might be out
of a job. I spend so much time alone, and
at this point it's something I prefer because people are distractions.
These thoughts are expensive, and I want to reach them all,
which is why you should call me at one eight hundred.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Si Tyre says, one hundred tyres.
Speaker 9 (41:00):
Romantic comedy opening up in my own movie studio, which
is on the scale of a Universal studios, hotels, restaurants,
retail tourism.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Developing whole islands in the Caribbean Island. You know, like,
I'm going big, Like this ain't got nothing to do
with me announcing that I'm releasing a hoodie. Who gives
a fuck about a hoodie? We didn't seen too many
of them, Okay, what happened? You have I know, because
it's just what I prefer to wear under this jacket.
(41:34):
But it ain't my hoodie. Yeah, it's super big, and
it's I get frustrated with God sometimes because I'm like, God,
why do you keep because Angie, these ideas are so
big and they're so detailed, and they're so specific, And
(41:54):
I'm like, God, since you're such a specific God, when
are you going to special cifically let me do these
things that are bouncing around in my.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
Head that you fed me.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
It's so clear, you know why, because it's God's timing,
it's not yours.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
You just gotta keep submitting.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
But you're doing the right thing. I just think God
has a way of I think God has a way,
and this is my experience. I think God has a
way of just wanting to make sure that you know
that he did it. Because if it was about your handsome,
your talent, your calls, you'll hustle, you'll follow up lunches
(42:36):
and dinners and courting and nurturing the relationships and make it.
You stell like, well, damn, when is something gonna happen?
It all feels right, It all went right, that the
stars aligned and everything feels good. I like all these people.
The money is there, when what is it? Faith in
(42:58):
the unseen?
Speaker 1 (43:01):
I have to go back to something really.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Okay, you're so good, Terras.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
We can have a four there's gonna be a four
hour episode.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Because something you said I thought was interesting and I
thought you were going one way and you went somewhere else.
But when you were talking about a rental car, because
you had also talked about women and vices and all
that stuff, I think that translates beyond money, beyond you
like your situation and lifestyle.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
When you think about men.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Who you were referring to, like men being in different
with different women, trying to find there's something that happens
with men where if they're with the women that they
don't feel like they deserve, she's going to leave me
at some point.
Speaker 1 (43:45):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
I feel like they go out and almost ruin their home.
I've seen this with people that I know that I'm married,
and I think maybe women do it too. It's almost
like an imposter syndrome, Like how you were saying, you
feel like life is rental, is rented, so you start
ruining it self, sabotaged.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
It's self, sabotage.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
I think when you don't value yourself in that way,
or you don't think you're worthy of whatever the blessings is,
whatever the gifts are, that you just kind of fuck
it up. Yeah, and I don't even think people realize
they're doing it.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Yeah, they don't. But it's also a habit that they've learned.
They've seen their mom and dad fuck up everything, right,
So it's a go to. Yeah, for sure, it's a pattern,
it's a habit, it's a learned behavior. We all have baggage.
But who's going to love you enough to stand you
to help you unpack it? Right? If you pull it
up with ten bags physical bags and I pulled up
(44:44):
with ten bags. We both got bags. But when you
start unzipping them and you show me what's in each bag,
your story has nothing to do with minds. But who's
going to love you enough to say go through those bags?
Because you get over the external, you could have some
of the best sexual chemistry ever, and that'll be a
(45:07):
reason to hold on for a little while. You can
love the conversation. You can get deep. You know, we
could talk about deep stuff. You know, it could be
a lot of different reasons that you think that this
is the one. But at the end of the day,
you still are in a relationship with somebody that have
(45:28):
a lot of things that are attached to them. So
can we talk about it? Can we be transparent about it?
And for those things that I can help you through,
I'm going to love you through it all. And then
there's some things that's way beyond my pay grade. Right
in this case, I'm like, Babe, I love you, but
(45:48):
I got alligator arms, and I ain't gonna be able
to reach into these topics and reach into these issues
or reach into these areas of your life to help
you to figure out what's going on there. So now
I got to put you in front of a therapist,
a real professional that could really unpack that, because rather
(46:09):
you're with me or not, it's still there. You can
run from here to Australia. You're taking your problems with you.
You got to unpack it. And so, yeah, it's some
of us. Some of us could really function relationship wise
on the surface and do just fine. Really eventually, No,
(46:30):
some people, some people can literally.
Speaker 1 (46:32):
Function do anything on the surface.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
I feel like everything I can, I feel like everything
you do from your from relationships to your career. So
these big ideas, the frustration of not being able to
bring them to fruitions, Like you feel everything so intensely,
it's so real.
Speaker 1 (46:50):
But how do you manage that? Because that could also
make it crazy?
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Well, I am crazy. You have to be crazy to
even bel leave that it's going to happen, right, So
imagine this.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
We shouldn't say crazy.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
I feel like, no, no, no, Crazy is a good thing, right.
Crazy is only bad in the wrong hands. Money is
a good thing. It's only bad when money ends up
in the wrong hands. Money is the root of all evil.
I disagree. Money ain't never been evil in my hands.
I've never used my money to harm or hurt anybody.
(47:33):
You put money in my hands, everybody's life is better.
Everything is better, The experience is better. I tell niggas
all the time. I love your yacht, but your yacht
would be better if I was invited on it. Like
this is this must be so fucking bod y'all must
(47:53):
be so bored on this fucking yacht. If you want
to have fun on this big ass one hundred and
eighty million dollars whatever this is.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
I'm your guy.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
I'm your guy. That's it. It's almost like how we
feel about Kenny Burns are just people that just naturally
got good energy, you know what I'm saying. Like it's
it's it's like, yeah, love KB right, Like it's like
there's certain people that just got that energy about them
that they make every room they walk into better. So,
(48:22):
prior to Kenny Burns showing up to your boat, y'all
was on this motherfucker just sweepies everybody's sleep, just like God,
did y'all mind just handing out tiling all pm. This
is the most boringing bucket and we already out here
on the ocean, and the ocean is supposed to put
us to sleep. But can we have some fun?
Speaker 1 (48:42):
So yeah, I just think you do you do value joy?
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Right, I'm the life of the party. We're gonna have fun.
But nobody gets hurt at the end of my parties.
You know, it's no there's no ill will and no
bad intentions, you know. So I just think, who else
but me to become the multi multi billionaire that's going
(49:06):
to get these developments and these projects and these things
off the ground.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
I think you should go on a promo tour like
a fundraising promo tour.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (49:18):
Do you see where I'm going with this?
Speaker 2 (49:19):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (49:20):
Because I think what you just the gift that you
just gave us of this little glimpse into Teddy's story.
If you just keep lighting that spark, like wherever you go,
how could anybody stop that. I'm not saying to give
away everything for free. Maybe it's little pieces of things
(49:40):
or just it. Just keep keep sharing the gift that
you keep referencing in whatever way it shows up for
you on that day. But intentionally it's bounces. You don't
think yes, yes, yes, but being intentional about.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
That yes, very and never letting up yeah, and never
questioning God, just getting mad, get irritated. We're human God, Like,
what's God?
Speaker 1 (50:06):
What are we doing?
Speaker 4 (50:09):
What?
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Dida Theana was on the show and she said sometimes
I'd be like God, like for really that real with God?
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Like why do you you know?
Speaker 3 (50:18):
Because she I mean, she just had this glory moment,
this glory year, but before there was times was she
like you.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
Big creative ideas creative.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
All the time, she a this was that and she's
like why didn't any of these things working on she.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
Record deals or whatever. So she's had those. She's like,
I have to have a real one with God and
then I have to pull myself down.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Well, you know what it comes down to for me.
And if Tiana sees this message, that's my sister. I
love her. I was just with her at the Black
Woman in Hollywood event in LA We have such a great,
beautiful exchange of conversation. Listen, people that went Oscar, it's
(51:02):
like the kiss of death. They disappear if they win.
When you're nominated, you book way more movies than you
do when you win. I don't know what the fuck
it is. It's YouTube videos all over the Internet of
what happens when you win.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
An Oscar, versus nominated.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Versus nominated. And so if I could say to Tiana
the nomination, you're on fire, something about something about what
people start overthinking and overvaluing the talent when they win
the Oscar. You know, there's not a project that's good
enough for an Oscar Award winner. It's just all this
(51:43):
stuff that happens. Nominated is a different level. And what
she was able to do was all about her. People
have never heard of her until they heard of her.
That's crazy, by the way, And all of she's been at.
But but here's the thing, you gotta we gotta think, right,
(52:06):
we all live in a in a in our own matrix.
Who doesn't know Tianna Taylor? Everybody. There's a whole lot
of people never heard of her day in their life ever,
Nothing about anything she's ever did, said, song she sung
has ever fell on their radar until now. And when
(52:27):
they met her, she's now a seasoned, veteran legend, beautiful
showing up with outfits killing every red car. And so
you'd like, who the fuck God? Who the fuck is distance?
You know what I mean? And so now seen it,
but we've all of it.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
They're showing up as she's showing up as a new
person to them.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
There's a wild factor that's attached to a brand new
thing that we never seen or heard of ever until now.
And that is the moment.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
That's the magic.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
That is the magic of what God is about to do.
Everything else was what you were supposed to see, feel,
experience and go through prior to your moment. You thought
those were moments. No, those were moments leading up to
the moment. Now, if you you want to make God live,
tell them your plans. Oh yeah, Wait, wait, I cannot
(53:26):
wait to see all that that this that that Tiana
is about to do. Can't wait, can't wait.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Sure you got a few projects you could probably attach
her to.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
I mean, you know, ready with the proper funding, proper funding. Yeah.
I want to also share so proudly that of all
of the radio shows I've been approached about podcast reality
TV shows, because my life is interesting, it's some funny ship,
(53:56):
it's a lot that all cameras is rolling, a lot
going on. So I came up with this random idea,
Angie random. I have Tyresepatreon dot com. And instead of
me doing a podcast or doing anything that you're supposed
(54:18):
to do, I guess because these are these usual things,
I decided I'm sitting on thirty years of videos that's
been on my hard drives, with projects ideas that have
never gotten off the ground, ran around pitching visions and ideas.
Fully shot music videos has never been released because the
(54:42):
edit just didn't turn out right. And we went to
the window behind the scenes of Sweet Lady Lately, my
song Shamee with Jennifer Hudson and Denzel Washington produced. I
got so much con terrabites and terrabytes full of things
that nobody has ever seen. And I think, I think
(55:05):
I'm uncomfortable because I've already uploaded too much ship and
this is all gonna live on the paper. It's all
on my Patreon.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
So what is what is it going to cost?
Speaker 2 (55:15):
Us? Give me the cost for you for free?
Speaker 1 (55:20):
No, No, I want to be I want to be
a patron.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
Ok, I want to be a thing.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
What is what is the fee?
Speaker 3 (55:29):
There's four different I'm going to watch how this goes
for you, Tyrese, because I too have thirty years of
I have thirty years of content, some of that's never.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Been heard of before.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
And I've also often thought about this, this route that
you're taking. So I'm gonna watch how it plays out
for you, and maybe I'll follow your leader.
Speaker 2 (55:47):
You should, Okay, you should? Okay? Good and Tyresepatreon dot com.
And what we just uploaded, it's about an hour and
twenty minutes long, is all of the fuckery and all
the craziness that went down for this versus thing. Lead
with me in tank and I had the cameras rolling.
(56:10):
I was like, I was like, Okay, I'm not the
competitive dude he is. We both capricorns but he's the
other version of Capricorn. I'm like, bron you know again,
we all just get along. Coom by your white flags.
Who you guy coming out? Oh yeah he was. Oh
he wanted to come out and kill me. He has
seventeen people come out on stage during the verses. I
(56:32):
had one. He tried to steal my background singer. You know,
he had the sound man to mess up my sound
on purpose. It was shady. So on Saturday at the
Ubs Arena, and because of you, I might throw a
Teddy Pitnograss song in.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
But what's that? Which was that? M com.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
Mhm, Come on over, but move.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
I can listen to this all day.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
I would literally just pay to see you in concert
performing Tende Pendergras.
Speaker 2 (57:16):
Wow, I would pay for that. The woman that's always
bearing gifts, That's what she just did. Did y'all hear that.
I'm just saying, y'all hear that. The Teddy Pendergrass residency.
Speaker 1 (57:32):
I'm just saying, there's many ways to get to the
goal end goal.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Yes, keep playing the seats, keep chipping away at it,
and it's going to I believe it.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
I believe it.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
For tyrespatreon dot com would love for y'all to join
us and in success, and Angie's going to join us
and she's going to do a data dump on her heart.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
Yes, I'm gonna wait to watch this play out for you.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
The best shit ever, or it's gonna be like, oh
oh this ship, that ship that's that didn't lot Land Well.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
I love that we had this conversation today.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
I see your passion and your vision, and I think
I hope it inspires people not for their own lives
and for their own because we all have, say where
you have, all of that, we all have I have stuff.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Bottled up that you know, all these things always stop us.
Speaker 3 (58:24):
But I always think there's a if you really lock
ins is always a way. So I still hope people
inspired by that today, and we'll support you on injurant.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
You gotta be unapologetic about getting these visions and dreams out, unapologetic.
Loyalty has an expiration date. When God gives you visions
and ideas and you don't move on them in any capacity,
He's gonna give it to somebody else. How many times?
How many more times you gonna shit at the house
and go yo, I can't decided. You remember I was just
(58:54):
telling you about this idea, Like, what was that two years? Yeah?
You ain't doing nothing with it. Yeah, so God said,
this idea has to reach the world. You playing games,
coming up with all of these reasons, you know, my
brand and my image and the timing and all the
goofy shit, okay or out self doubt, insecurity, spear of
(59:16):
the unknown. I've never done it before, you know, blah
blah blah. They said, Man, here's the problem. The problem
is if it ended tomorrow, since we're talking about death, right,
if it ended tomorrow, what have we actually done to
leave something for our children? What have we done? Will
(59:38):
they Will they be okay for six months? Will they
be okay for a year? What have we done? And
most of us selfishly are just thinking about what we're
doing today. All the kids is good, I'm good. But
if anything were to happen, did you set the family
up for success? Did you set them up for sustainability? Well,
(01:00:00):
they be able to stay afloat and in most cases no,
So if people don't think if you think I'm about
to get on stage and just be on stage getting
screened for and that's my high. No, No, it's not. Oh,
oh oh, Deadline Hollywood reporter Tyree just got casted in
(01:00:23):
another movie. You mean movie number forty. That's a high
for me. No, The new highs that I own the
studio and that we have a film slate and a budget,
and we have TV series and projects and movies, writers, directors, editors, cinematographers.
(01:00:45):
We have created our own ism and what we have
never existed before, now it's coming. Praise God.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
I have a couple of real quick speed round in
real life questions, and then I have a voice. Oh okay,
in real life? What are you most proud of about yourself?
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
I am proud that God has used me to represent
what's possible.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
In real life. What are you no longer apologizing for?
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
I'm not apologized for being late. Shit, they have tired.
It's traffic something, some some cause of delay. What me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
In real life? I'm at my best.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
When in real life, I'm at my best when I'm alone.
Really m hmmm h everything that I'm thinking of and
creating in my mind when I'm alone. These starts are expensive,
and when I'm able to reach them all everyone is
going to be on the receiving end of this stuff
that I was able to think about from spending time alone.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
What is something that you have forgiven yourself for have? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
I have forgiven myself for the things that I didn't
know or understand. I used to beat myself up when
I would say things, do things, make a mistake, piss
people off, drop the ball. And I've just learned to
forgive myself, give myself grace because if I was raised
(01:02:40):
by Gladys Knight, if Anita Baker was my mother, a
whole lot of decisions about what I was doing in
the business would have been different. If an NBA player
raises a young NBA soon to be player, he's got
the whole blueprint of what to do and what not
to do because he was raised used by a champion.
(01:03:02):
I'm an alien, I'm one of one, and I'm by myself.
I've been winging it out here my whole life. And
when I would make mistakes, because the whole world is
watching me grow up from the little kid right before
their eyes, I would always beat myself up, like why
did I say that? Oh? Why did I do that?
I'll tell you why you said it and did it?
Because your mama wasn't glad as Night. You didn't have
(01:03:25):
a Mona scot young in your life that can sit
you down and say this is what's around the corner
before they get there. So I had to give myself
grace and stop beating myself up the things that I've
said and done that was embarrassing, that went viral, and
this and that that. It's like you're looking at a duck.
(01:03:46):
I'm sorry, a swan and all of the stuff that
I've either said and done and mistakes that I've made
at embarrassing myself, it's like water rolling off a duck back.
It doesn't penetrate me no more. It just rolls off.
And that's a place that you had to get to. Now,
(01:04:09):
let's stop going to sleep with your mistakes.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
Hey guys, You ever sign up for a phone plan
thinking Wow, what a great price, and then a few
months later it's like, surprise, your.

voice note section. This is a listener or a fan
of the pod who we let know that you were
going to be here today.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
What do we have?
Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
High Ti Reese, Oh my gosh, this is Stephanie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Can you stay at my wedding like shot? Anyway?
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
I love your videos of you and your daughter Sheila
and between you on the road and Shaila being a teenager.
What are some ways that you really lock in with
her and really take the time to really have that
daddy daughter a time.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
That's a good question.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
The girls daughters, Brittany is the poster child for spoiled
kind of daddy's girl she loves.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Is that a real thing?
Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
I might as well answer my question with my hat off.
Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
Are you one of them? Are you one of those?
Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
Oh yeah, yeah, let me answer this question with my
hat off. Well, at this point, as a father, I'm
more concerned about what my daughter don't know. Men boys,
(01:06:21):
business life people will take advantage of what you don't know.
So she's eighteen now, she's turning nineteen July eleventh. She's
decided to go to college in Atlanta. I've been living
there now for nine years, even though I was born
and raised in La So now I have the fullness
(01:06:46):
of my firstborn with me, and the most significant Black
city you could ever live in, politically, business wise, oportreneurs,
just all of it. And so I am so proud
of the level of self discovery that my daughter is
(01:07:07):
about to experience in Atlantic super close. Oh yeah, oh yeah,
I'm her go to ready to shoot, stab and kill.
I just purchased my first ever shotgun, like an actual shotgun,
like for real shotgun. So whoever you are, whatever, the
(01:07:27):
lip gloss is cracking and you see my daughter, Oh man,
I will use the shotgun. Yeah. Well that's why Sheila.
She went viral from that. She's got a clothing line
(01:07:49):
coming out, she does, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
How is that?
Speaker 6 (01:07:57):
Have that?
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Then have one loaded question. We're going to do a
bowl and wrap. How does that? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
How do you manage that when something real is happening
to you, emotional, heartbreaking, or in your l the most
vulnerable state, and it becomes something that people it's a meme.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Oh, it's it's the it's the swan and the water
rolling off the back thing. I was on psych mads
when I uploaded that video. It was on the internet
for six months before the psych meds were completely out
of my system. So yeah, people have fun. They never
(01:08:42):
seen me like that. I'd never seen me like that
when I was when I finally got in my regular headspace,
I looked at the video and I was like, oh shit, wow.
And then fast forward because God loves me? Why does
God love me so much? The most vulnerable moment of
my life about my daughter, and he flips hashtag mice
(01:09:07):
shala into something endearing. So people don't say, what's good,
my dad? They go my shala And it's the way
girls are hugging each other. It's the way people are
greeting each other. Nobody in the world could have told
me that's something that was so vulnerable. Fast forward with
(01:09:27):
flipping too something. So now when my daughter goes places
and I'd be like, yeah, this is my daughter Sheila.
Wait wait, are you the shala? My shala? Me and
my friend do it? If we like my shit, you're
the real Shala. It's the craziest thing. It is literally
like God has a sense of humor. They flip that one.
Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
Does anybody ever sent you that meme?
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Oh yeah, I see it all online. Yeah, all the
time I've been living with the what more do you
want from me and my shale? I've been living with
that now. That was at video ten, twelve years old now,
so yeah, for it to flip into something all over
TikTok and be this positive, it just goes to show you,
(01:10:14):
like God loves me so much. It's like this is
now my daughter's running around as a standalone Shila, and
it's like the most beautiful thing ever.
Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
What are you gonna do when she's in a relationship
or later in life she gets married and her husband
and her boyfriend calls her my Shaila.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Well, that's a different my Shla. I'm gonna tell him
she will always be my Shala. But y'all married. Then
I got a shotgun.
Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
In case this gets crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
There's some boundaries in place that we all understand. Y'all
have a good time test it. Hey, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:11:09):

I'm really hoping you get the question I want to
because if you don't, I'm going to give you the question.
We may edit it, but you see, I'm going to
look for the one that I want to ask you
for the close out of the interview.
Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
Unless that's it, what is it?
Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
When I walk in around? I want people to feel
m they've met a really nice person. I want them
to feel like I created who I thought he would
(01:12:32):
be in my mind, and I'm just so shocked that
he was kind of like nothing that I imagine that he
would be. And then I want someone who did not
plan on spending ten billion that week to say, Tyresee
has got a lot of visions and ideas.
Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
I'm going to give him my money.
Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
I'm going to give him my money because we was
about to and a lot of money on a whole
lot of bullshit that didn't matter. It did not matter
at all.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
Great answer that killed the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
There's one there's one question out of the ball that
you must.
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Have before you go.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
I would love it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
Okay, this is my one for you.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Okay, here we go. If God were to text me
right now, what would he say? Mm hmmm mm hmm
(01:13:41):
mm hmmm. I would hope that he would say, thank
you for reminding people about me. Everywhere you go. Every
Bible verse said I post. When I say to people,
(01:14:03):
don't ever give me credit for what I've survived and
what I've been through. I give all the credit to
the Lord Jesus Christ, who loves me so much, because
when you can't explain it, when you tried everything to
do it or get through it and pulled through it,
(01:14:25):
and you know that only God did that. He just
don't ever want you to take credit for what He
is there orchestrating the entire time. God is the Alpha
and the Omega. He is the beginning, the middle, the end.
He is all of it. And I've almost prided myself
(01:14:51):
on making sure that I don't do anything without bringing
Jesus into the conversation. And there are people that found
saying I love Tyres, I look up to him. I
respect him so much. Man, I don't know if I'll
ever got through that. Wow, I got through it. And
(01:15:13):
God is the reason that I got through it, Because
while I was getting through it, I couldn't even believe
I was getting through it myself. I thought it was over.
I thought it was a rap. I thought that was
a career killer. I thought it was a good run.
And God said no, that was a setback for a setup.
(01:15:35):
God is God is the sling shot stick in the hand,
the rubber band at the top, and you're the pebble.
And and before now, if he were to, if he
didn't love you, he would do this, let the rubber
(01:15:57):
band go, and then you would fall right on the table.
When God really loves you, he's gonna deplete you, stretch you,
create levels of discomfort. He's going to pull you all
the way back, and you're the rock. And then you like, oh,
(01:16:19):
look at the rubber band is stretching all the way back.
He's pulling you all the way back, because the moment
he let that rubber band go, he's gonna thrust you
into a whole nother level. So far you're not even
gonna people ain't gonna be able to see the rock.
Where did it go? That's the type of love you want.
So God, whatever your process is, whatever public shaming and bearss,
(01:16:43):
whatever mistakes I've made. First of all, I didn't know
I was gonna make it this far in my life
and my career. I had no idea I would still
matter in any capacity after a thirty second commercial, who
do you think you are? You think you're sitting around
with some type of crystal ball or something, and enough
handsome and enough talent, ain't enough singing, ain't enough movie
(01:17:05):
roles that can get you on and keep you on
this long. God loves you and He has all of
this in mind for you. So just love yourself enough
to show up every day and do the best you
can with all of the things that God has in
mind for you. That's what my text would say. That
(01:17:27):
is a long text. Oh yeah, My text is are
normally pretty long. So God knows me. It's like you
be sending them along and I'm gonna send you one too.
God really really, yeah, that's what's it's that's it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
But the moral of his text is keep saying his name.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Keep everywhere you go. I need, I need to listen.
If you ain't God God on you, you should assume
that when you walk in the room, God wasn't there
before you showed up. Speak on it, talk about it.
Sit there, you know I went through something like that before.
Talk about it, talk about a transition into what God
(01:18:08):
got you through. Talk about it. Because the word is
not his opinion, it's the word of God. So if
it's the word, it's not up for discussion. He got you,
He got you, He loves you. He loves you.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
He loves Tyrese in real life.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
What up, y'all? Ship man Tyrese in real life.
