five stars. Share with your friend because you know sharing

out of Nashville, and TNA gonna be taken over Nashville
this weekend at the Pinnacle.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Of course, we're gonna be there for both nights.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Gonna be exciting and well, TNA is gonna be taken
over the Battleground Podcast this week. We got more guests
up and buy to hang out with us. But let's
get things kicked off. Our first guest of TNA week
on The Battleground Podcast, Daria Ray, joins the show.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
TNA is doing big things.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
They've got their new TV deal which we saw Thursday
night on AMC It is Live and something big happened
that night, not only the fact that TNA went live
on cable TV, but some big things happen with our
guests on the show today. And I'm hoping that my
show does not end up like Santino in the ring
giving up for Daria Ray joining the show.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
How are you thank you for having me? What an intro?
I'm great. You know, I have a new job, so yeah,
exciting and I get to be mean to Santino, so
life is good.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
The thing is is we all sat there watching it
Thursday night and you came in off friendly, and in
the back of my mind, I'm like, something doesn't fail
right with Daria on this, Like there's no way that
this is gonna happen. Of course, you flip the script
and you said something to say, so kind of walk
us through that moment walking down the ramp to get
in the ring and you're back.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Yeah. I was like, holy crap. I hope they cheer
for me, or I hope I can get them in
the first thirty seconds that I'm talking to cheer for me,
because you know, then I can turn on them and
make them haave me real quick. So I was praying
that that worked. And when I heard my music and
they were cheering, I was like, Okay, cool got them.
(02:27):
So yeah, No, that was probably the most fun I've
had in a very long time, and it was everything
I wanted it to be and more. It's so fun
being with Teena, and I'm so excited to see what's
to come.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Absolutely, I think we all are excited to see, especially
after just having the first night live on AMC. It's
going to get bigger and better and we'll talk about
some things that happened on that first night. But you know,
one thing that we've watched your career is you've reinvented
yourself more than once in wrestling. Looking back, what's a
moment that you wish fans could have seen from your
perspective but never did.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Oh that's a good question. I have like a weird
outlook on my past and everything that I've done because
I really think that everything happens, even like the shitty
things or the failures like happened for a reason because
we wouldn't be here. So I know that's like a
really boring positive answer, but like I really do feel
that way. You know, there was times where I think
(03:19):
we could have made more out of a moment, like
maybe at the end of my GM run when I
was getting into stuff with Naomi or Bianca, Like, I
think we could have taken that to launch me back
into my in ring career. But you know, you can't
control everything, and things happen for a reason.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah, absolutely for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
And you know, one of the things that was a
big moment for TNA on AMC is you decided to
introduce a new member to the roster because you have
that power now. And of course everybody got to see
l Ana Black during the AMC premiere. What stood out
to you most about getting her signed to TNA.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Well, I think she's a star. I've worked with her before, obviously,
I know of her work, and I think she I
think she has the it thing. I think she's hungry,
she's passionate, she's unique, and she's great in the ring.
She can talk, she has a character. I think she
just and I think she's only scratching the surface. I
think that there's so much more of the fans want
to see out of her, and I think you could
(04:17):
hear that from the excitement of her debut. I think
it was the right choice, and I think it's really important.
The teena locker room is stacked, but I think it's
awesome to kind of mix the old blood with the
new blood and spice things up. And so that's exactly
what I was doing by bringing Elena in.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, and of course that crowd lost it when she
just and she didn't have to say anything.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
She just stands there and people already knew and it
already made headlines and everybody's talking about it, and you know,
it's great TNA on AMC Live every Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
And looking back, I want to go back.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Winning that women's tag team titles back in WW was
kind of a huge first for you. Now that you're
carving this new path in TNA, how does that moment
sit with you today?
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Oh, it's a great moment in history. I mean, it
was so exciting. Working with Chelsea Green was one of
arguably the most fun I've had in wrestling. It was
a cool moment. We're good friends, and she's awesome and
so funny. Her comedic timing is incredible, So it was
great to get to work with her. But I think,
you know, the best is yet to come. And I
(05:19):
think I have never felt more confident in my groove
and my character work and what I'm doing than I
am right now in TNA.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Absolutely, And of course we saw it with you and
ring with Santino on Thursday night, because again, like.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
We said, that switch flipped.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
You were all nice and everybody's like, oh, it's just
a new person.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Nope, Nope, it's not.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
The new Jersey devil came out and we figured it
all out.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
We were like, yeah, yeah, you know, it's just so
much more fun being mean.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Of course, it always is good to be the heel,
to be the bad guy, bad girl, whatever. Now I
know that you have talked in previous interviews before you've
talked about retirement, but here you are. You're making new waves,
major waves in DNA. Do you see this as a
new chapter or as.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
A whole new version of yourself.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
It's an evolution, for sure. It's definitely not a reiteration
of anything I've ever done. And that's why it was
really a lot of work and a lot of time
went into the esthetic and the look and the catchphrases
and the name and this and that, because I wanted
to be certain that it wasn't regurgitated character that people
have already seen. So there's definitely gonna be some new
(06:29):
layers and new dynamics of Daria. And really it's me
coming into my own. It's me kind of being more
in the driver's seat this time around and having a
say in what happens and what goes on, and that
was really important to me and something that TNA is
allowing me to be a part of. And they have
an incredible creative team and Tommy Dreamer and Hunter obviously,
(06:51):
but yeah, this time around, it's me and it's exciting.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Absolutely definitely gonna be exciting to see how things play out.
Every third is Ay Night Live on AMC nine Eastern
eighth Central Time. Now, one thing that I've noticed as
a fan of wrestling growing up compared to when I
was a kid to now, as you've seen, wrestling has
changed over the years, and it's changed dramatically since you've debuted.
(07:18):
What is one trend right now in pro wrestling that
you love and one that you think maybe needs more
to evolve.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Well, I love the focus with the women, specifically on
athleticism and legitimacy, and I think that that's one of
the greatest things that's happened over the last decade or
two that I've been able to be a part of
and see firsthand is that we're really moving into this
we I mean, we are in this era of every
girl can go. I mean, we have professional athletes, we
(07:47):
have girls that know what it's like to be punched
in the face, you know, the Shannon Baslers and myself,
And so I think we're in a unique stage in
that I don't know that I dislike anything. I love
that there's options. I love that there's kind of a
product for everybody, and there's options for independent wrestlers out
(08:07):
there or wrestlers wanting to switch companies. And I think
TNA not just saying this, I think it's the hottest
thing going right now. And I think this deal with
AMC is a game changer, and I think it solidifies
what a lot of people in that have been in
TNA for years have already known. And it's a special product.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, absolutely, And of course it seems like TNA has
been kind of on the forefront of a lot of
things when it comes to working well with others. I mean,
you've seen TNA in the forefront of TNA working with
aw and then you've got this partnership with TNA and WWE,
and it really just shows.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
That that TNA is not the TNA that it was.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
In the beginning.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Agreed. I mean, I think it's like more the merrier.
I think that's the phase of sports entertainment that we're
in right now. And I think Carlos Silva coming in
as president has been incredible and he has done so
much to help the growth of the business. Just getting
this TV deal and understanding the value in mutually beneficial relationships,
(09:09):
which is that they have with WWE obviously and kind
of swapping talent and cross promoting. I think it's great.
I think it's great for the business, great for the wrestlers,
and I think there's a lot of growth in our future.
I think this is just the kind of the beginning.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Absolutely very excited to see what TNA is going to do,
especially with this new TV deal on AMC.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Now.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Recently, we had JDC on right before his final match.
We started talking about kind of things from his past,
and one thing that really stood out is he talked
about the TNA locker room and talked very highly about
that as somebody who has been in other locker rooms
as well. What sets this TNA locker room apart from
other locker rooms that you've been in.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
I've only been there two days, but it's been absolutely incredible.
I mean, and there's a certain energy in the locker room.
You kind of realize that everyone understands the magnitude of
this pinnacle moment that TNA is at, the television debut
and then the big pay per view we just had
on Saturday Genesis. Like you can just feel the energy
(10:11):
in the room of like, this is our time. And
I'm speaking about the people that have been there for
a really long time and the people coming in new
ready to make an impact as well. So I think
it's great. I think that there's a mix of the
old and the new. And I've said that before, but
it's like it's true. There's vets there that have been
there for a long time, but they're also open minded
(10:34):
and open armed to new people coming in just to
have fun and help I think more than merriers. So
so far, so good. It's been great.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, And you could just see how that locker room
is for each other just by watching it on TV
and everybody we've talked to from TNA has talked about
how that locker room is not just I'm out for me,
it's people are waiting in the back of Gorilla. People
are going to give each other advice, and it's cool
to see that.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
One hundred percent. Yeah. And I was back there both
shows till the very end, obviously, and I was taking
note of that because obviously I've been around other locker
rooms and it was just so nice to see everyone
supporting everyone. We had debuts, we had retirements, we had
so many big moments on these past two shows. And
(11:22):
even when I came back through the curtain, I just debuted,
like you know, the whole creative team and a lot
of people from the back were standing there just kind of,
you know, hugging me and giving me congratulations. It was very,
very warm, very welcoming. It's a great environment.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, absolutely for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And I've talked to several people and they say say,
just like you, high praises for the locker room, and
it's it's awesome to see and hear things like that.
As we're getting, you know, closer to the end of
the show. We always like to have fun with our guests.
One of those things where we get to kind of
just peel back the curtain and see who you really are.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Right, Oh boy, if you were able to.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
You know, break the rule for one night and you
tell TNA, I want this song to be my walkout song.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
What are you picking?
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Oh this is my last resort.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Oh some popa roachs.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yeah, yes, I see this, sing alongs with it with
the crowd.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Yeah, it was my walk out music when I fought
MMA a few times. So yeah, I love that song.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Oh that would be so, I don't know. We'll have
to figure out the powers that be. We'll put it
out there so we can get you to come out there.
I think we can do it, pay per views whatever,
It would.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Be great charge.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
So I'll just oh well then yeah, just charge the Carlos.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
He's you're in charge. He can't say anything.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah, that's gonna be. I can't wait to hear this.
It's gonna be great. Maybe we'll hear it this Thursday
night on AMC. We'll see you know when when you
look back, and this is kind of the final question
for you.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
When you look back at Daria Ray's legacy, right ten.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Years from now, what headline do you hope fans are reading.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Oh god, well, I have a lot left to do,
so I feel like it's a little premature, but you know, honestly,
as cliche as this is gonna sound, I want to
be someone that people can rely on, you know. I
want to be someone that companies or you know, the
powers that be know they can trust me to go
(13:25):
get the job done, whatever that may mean. And I
also want the locker rooms to feel the same way
that I'm warm and I'm someone that comes with a
smile on my face, someone they can talk to, and
someone they can feel comfortable around. And that's what I
fully intend on putting out into the universe.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
So oh well, it's it's definitely putting out there in
the universe right now. For sure. It's an honor or
privilege to have you here on the show. Thankfully you
didn't kick me off of it, so we're good to go.
I live to record another episode before we let you go.
Anything you want to say to the fans watching or
listening to this right now.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
No, I'm I'll just say for a minute, I'm back
because of you, guys. That's the only reason it really is.
I love performing and it's because I love interacting with
you guys live and just there's nothing like professional wrestling.
So thank you for welcoming me back, whether it's cheering
or booing me, hopefully booing me going forward. But you
(14:19):
guys are awesome and that's why I'm back, and I
really appreciate it. It's not gonna lie. I almost cried when
I came out and they were chanting my name because
I've never been a babyface. So for the thirty seconds
I was a baby face, I was like, wow, that
that meant a lot to me. And you know, see, it.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Goes to show you could be a babyface if you
want to. But I think it's better being.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Here, never well there.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
It's an honor and pretty much to have you on
the show. Thank you so much for coming on, and
we look forward to seeing more signings that you have
and more control that you have on Thursday nights on
AMC with.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
T and a thank you so much. You guys can

plus AMC plus sixty two million homes worldwide. Come check
