Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in, everybody to betting pros. It's time to place
your bets. It's me Joey P. Joe P's apia and
this is VP NFL with two very happy boys, Andrew
Ricks and the Undertaker and me Joey P brocking our
Pats stuff. Very excited to go to the AFC Championship game.
A fun weekend of football again. List Er a forty
nine er fan for sure. The Bears once again. You
(00:20):
let him hang around long enough. Weird things happen, craziness,
the Rams pull it out, The Seahawks destroy the forty
nine ers. The Broncos beat the Bills, they fire their
head coach, but they lose their quarterback in the process.
And I'm still trying to process all of that as
our Patriots advance as well. Andrew Erickson was there live
boots on the ground at the game. What was that experience? Like,
(00:43):
Texans Pats absolutely electric.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I mean, we're taking credit for a lot of those
turnovers that the Patriots defense was able to generate because offensively, right,
there was a couple of really key throws by Drake May,
but for the most part, Patriots offense didn't really move
the ball down like effectively, right, They were terrible on
third downs. They didn't really have any sustained drives. There
was a couple of big plays, a couple key throwers
from Drake May Keisham Booties to Fon Diggs. But we
(01:07):
knew that c J. Stroud he couldn't do anything back there.
He was to pick after pick, just an absolute mess
because the Patriots defense would just getting after it and
the Texas offensive line remains a liability on that team.
And yeah, but it was. It was a fun game
to be yet for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, they got to address that next season. Look, he
didn't have some big weapons, and everyone kept talking about
the Texas defense and they should. They played great. Will
Anderson's amazing, Olshra, you're in a good game. They were
all terrific. Uh and they they caused havoc on Drake May.
But Drake May made a couple of plays c J.
Stroud could not. And that's the ball game. And look
that you keep turning the ball over. They both teams
(01:44):
turned the ball over at an alarming rate. So Pat's
gotta clean that up going into next week. And I
got the Broncos narrative too, with the Jared Stidham replacement.
I mean, that's gonna be a lot to talk about.
We're gonna break it all down for you before we do.

All right, let's start with the first of the two
championship games. Here. Some amazing stuff here going into it
in New England, Denver. Let's start here. This one's gonna
(02:48):
be in Denver, three o'clock Eastern time. The Patriots on
the road, mind you, where they have been road warriors
all year, winning games on the road. Minus five and
a half on the Patriots here, favorites on the road,
Broncos underdogs, understandably so, losing their starting quarterback. Plus five
and a half on the money line for the Pats
minus two fifty five Broncos two fifteen. The total for
(03:11):
this game over forty and a half, under forty and
a half. So let's talk about the breakdown here, Andrew,
I know what I was going to set this in
my mind, and the Patriots got even more points than
I thought they were going to get on the road.
Was this the number that you expected to wake up
to this morning.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I'm not surprised by the number, but I do think
that it's a little bit of an over reaction because
this line is telling me that Bonnicks is worth six
points against the spread. I do not believe that should
be the case because the look ahead lines for this
game between the Broncos and Patriots with the understanding that
Bonnicks would be the quarterback with Denver favored by one
and a half points. So now they're catching five and
(03:48):
a half points because there's been a replacement quarterback. And
we've talked about in the show all year long that
Bonnicks has not been like perfect this season. Now where
he's come up the biggest is in the second half
of games, helping the Broncos to win. That obviously is
no longer part of the equation with Jared Sidham now
entering as the quarterback. But Stidham is a game manager quarterback.
He has a good arm, and he knows this offense.
(04:09):
So ultimately, if you're backing the Broncos, you're hoping, okay, Well,
this is the first time Drake May has faced an
elite defense on the road this season. Yes, they've been
road warriors. Look at the defenses they've played on the road.
Nobody good. Texans defense played well against Patriots offense last week.
The Chargers defense played well against the Patriots offense two
weeks ago. So I think that is going to be
(04:30):
a lower scoring game. That's why the total is forty
and a half points, and ultimately I take the Patriots
win because it is Jared's Dinham. But in terms of
betting against the spread, I take the Broncos with the points.
Elite defense at home in Denver against a young quarterback
making his first road playoff start, hostile environment, Patriot's offensive line,
I mean, Will Campbell. That guy has to play better
(04:51):
or he's gonna get Drake May killed. And Drake May
has been fumbling the ball in the last two weeks,
which really does concern me. If Denver can keep things close,
get that stadium rock that, I do have concerns about
the Patriots at least covering five and a half points.
So I like Denver against the spread off to be
the Patriots win. But that's kind of how my early
indications are for this game.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I'm comfortable with the five and a half. If it
grows to more than that, I'm on the Broncos side.
If it goes less here in the next couple days,
I'm jumping on the Patriots. I'd like to get it
to four and a half or something like that. I
feel comfortable, then I want to jump on the Pats
as much as I can get towards the Pat's side
where it gets closer, And I do wonder if there
(05:32):
will be more of that narrative, like as you be
laid out, well Sidham knows what he's doing in this offense,
all that stuff. It's just really hard, having never started
a game all season for a team to come into
the AFC Championship game environment and look, it's gonna be
a great crowd. It was a great crowd in Denver
on the weekend. But here's the thing. The problem is
this the Patriots. Did you watch what they did against
the run last week? Did you watch what they did
against the run with the Chargers two weeks ago? When
(05:53):
that defense is healthy, you cannot run the football on them.
And if you can't run the football, you're forcing Jared
Sidham to make plays. So I am still comfortable with
the five and a half because I do think, just
like last week, you're gonna see turnovers here. You're gonna
see picks, You're gonna see pick sixes, you're gonna see fumbles.
You're got a those kinds of turnovers because if you
can't run the football and keep putting ball in Jared
Seddam's hands in third and lungs. I think bad things
(06:14):
are gonna happen to the Broncos. So I'm comfortable with
the five and a half the over under right now,
I haven't made quite a decision on I'm still kind
of waffling on. I feel like it's just a little low,
but I understand the reasons why. And again, the Patriots defense,
along with Drake May's ability to make plays when he
has to, leads me to believe I am comfortable here
(06:35):
with this offense. And I was joking, but I'm serious.
Also before the show, I said to Andrew, I said,
you know, with the way CJ. Stroud played, people are
gonna make excuses about the Patriots, with the way oh
Justin Herbert was hurt. And you know, the Chargers really
were overrated. And you know, if they get through a
Super Bowl and they play Sam Donald, let's say, and
(06:55):
they beat Sam Donald, they don't say, well, the Patriots
didn't play anybody all season long, and they'll have won
a Super Bowl potentially, And that's just nonsense. You can
only play the teams that are in front of you.
That's all you can do. Uh, And It's disappointing because
I think the bon Knicks if Bonnix was healthy, what
do you think this line would be. I would think
it would be minus two and a half Broncos. That's
what I would say to that. Well, I mentioned it earlier.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
They had these lines posted, Oh that's where this week
ads games, and it was a Broncos minus one and
a half. So you're giving more credit towards towards bo
Knicks here. So you're you're telling me that Bonix is
worth seven points against the spread, which I disagree with.
So so that's why to me, it's too many points
because again, bo Knicks has been I think a I
don't want to say game manager because that's I think
(07:37):
that's not giving him enough credit. He's been made play
plays in this game too, especially in the second half. Again,
I mean he has the most. Again, we talked about
the Bears and how many fourth quarter comebacks they have had.
The Broncos had the most this season, eighth or eight
second half comebacks driven by Bonnicks as the quarterback. So
ultimately I think that's why they fall short of winning
this game. But I like the Broncos with the points
(07:59):
here and to the point about the total in this
game forty and a half. I still like the under.
You know, you look at the Patriots offense the last
two weeks against top ten defenses Chargers and Texans, They've
averaged just eighteen point five points per game. Remember they
had to pick six that was one of their touchdowns.
They kicked no field goals. They had three touchdowns from
Drake May. But besides that, they were not moving the
ball effectively against the Texans defense.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Text defense elite.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Chargers defense is really good, and I think the Broncos
defense is also really good. And the Broncos defense knows
they have to play at an elite level to win
because they know that Jared Stidham, they don't have Bonis
to build them out in the second half of the game.
So I think that this defense is gonna be ready.
And Drake May has not faced a test like this
on the road this season, and offensive lines bad. Offensive
lines don't travel well, So that is what concerned Because
(08:42):
Will Campbell man, he has not played well the last
couple of pretty badly.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I told you, I do so many shows, I can't
remember who I think Will Campbell's future in the next
two years is he's a guard. Okay, that's not gonna help.
It's not, but I think it's proved. Look, he is
still a rookie, so I want to give him some little,
you know, little leeway here because it's his first year
in the NFL. And look, Houston, Texas. The front is
really good, really good, mon really good. But I think
(09:12):
that eventually, you know that his size in the arms
and all that stuff that the people were talking about,
that would be potentially a problem. I think it's showing
up as a problem. But outshat year again again. Want
to come back to him again. Will Anderson's just a
and to gay also did not get I mean, he
was a menace to society. Uh like, absolutely terrific in
(09:35):
that game. They just need better offensive line play. Give CJ.
Stroud a little bit more help. I don't want to
lay this all the Feta sage dresser. He made a
lot of mistakes, but man, like you just got to
give the kid a little bit more time to look
and not feel like he's gonna die every play, like
and look, some of those are just sometimes that's just
enough pressure where even when he doesn't have pressure on him,
he's thinking about the pressure. That's a problem, so you
(09:57):
got to fix that in the off season. That's number
one priority for them, no matter what they do. All right,
let's get to the NFC game. Before we do, shout

you know is a gambling problem wants help, called one
(11:27):
eight hundred and nine with it gambling problem called one
hundred gambler in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia.
All right, so let's get after this one. Here. We
got the Rams who got the Seahawks plus two and
a half on the Rams side, minus two and a
half on Seattle plus one thirty four. So there's a
lot of value in the Rams money line if you
like the Rams minus one fifty eight on the Seahawks
over under his forty seven and a half Andrew Erickson.
(11:50):
The Rams keep doing the same thing every week. They
let teams hang around Seattle. I think in that building,
that crowd enormous advantage, that defense is terrific, the familiar
already between these two teams. There's a lot to digest here.
Third time they're facing each other this year. What are
your thoughts on Seattle Rams of this first early value look.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I mean, I don't know if there's a ton of
value picking against the spread. I think that the lines
make a lot of sense. Seattle favorite at home, but
not by much considering both of these games have been
not within three points, within like two points of one
team beating the other team. They've been razor sharp towards
the end. The last one we saw was really wacky
going into overtime, really high scoring game. The one that
(12:29):
I actually like the most is actually probably the under
at forty seven and a half points. If you look
at when these teams have met the last couple times.
Anytime that the total has closed north of forty two
and a half points, the game has actually gone under.
And then when it's been a really low total and
it's gone over by a significant margin. So this is
where the market has been really wrong about like pegging
this particular matchup. It's oh, it's gonna be high scoring. Nope,
(12:50):
it's gonna be a low scoring game, and then vice versa.
So the fact that the total is already this high
forty seven and a half, this is to be the
highest that it would have closed at considering the other
two matchups. I think it's a little pointchas, especially because
the last one too also went overtime. So I like
you here at forty seven and a half points. Again,
getting an indoor team on the road rams don't play
nearly as well in terms of being a road underdog.
(13:13):
They perform really well as a road favorite, but as
road underdog. And look, we've seen this defense get after
Sam Darnald before, right and obviously last weeks the forty nine.
Like that was one of the things I knew that
the four nights were gonna get blown out. At some
point I was a week too early against the Eagles,
and that was wrong. But then they got absolutely destroyed.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
So but you know what they they, I mean, Seattle
handled them so well on the road two weeks before that,
and then they just I mean they rolled that the
game was over on the very first play.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Imagine saying to someone, yeah, Drew Lock is gonna play
in this game, and the Seahawks are gonna kill the
forty nine right Whereas is like, because everyone's concerned about
Sam Donald and this oblique injuries, like, oh, Drew Lock
has taken all the first team reps and oh yeah,
Drew Lock played go figure and they ended up chilling
the forty nine ers anyway, So I do think that
I like the Seahawks to win the game, get it.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
They're the home team. I think that their favorite.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I think that's I think there's a more complete team,
especially on their defensive side of the football. The Rams
lost another starting cornerback I killed with a spoon got injured, so.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I think that that's a big deal for them.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Their secondary has been beatable, and Jackson's been and Jake
but I know he had a quiet game, but when
they need him, he can definite show up.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
In big moments.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
It's interesting. If you parlay just Patriots to win Seahawks
to win plus one thirty, it's pretty good odds for
the team.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
I like, interesting you said that, Andrew, because I was
kind of looking the same way. I was like, well,
let me just take the money line here, even though
that juice is pretty heavy in the one to fifty
range for Seattle. Take Seattle to just win, not muck
around and pair it with like a Pooka Takua touchdown,
or pair with something else. I think that's just a
lock in this game to get into plus money. But
to your point, just taking those two things together right now,
(14:46):
the Pats money line, the Seahawks money line. I'm gonna
bet that right now, and I'm gonna do it using
