Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the Betting Pros PJA Podcast. I'm Pat Fitzmorris
along with Bau mcbrair. We are off and running with
the main part of the PGA Tour season. Sony Open
kick things off in Hawaii last week, and now the
tour returns to the mainland with the American Express in
the California Deserts. We'll give you a full betting preview
in just a moment, but first a quick recap of

(00:23):
the Sony Chris got her Up wins. It seemed like
we were going to have a shootout on Sunday. There
were a lot of players in contention going into the
final round, but Chris got her up removed a lot
of the drama with a terrific final round. This one
really wasn't in question. Down the stretch, got her Up
shot a six under par sixty four to finish sixteen

(00:45):
under and win by two shots over Ryan Girard, who
bow To outed last week and talked me into betting.
I know bo was going to go deeper than just
a bet to win, so that was a really good call.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Three spots, top five, top two.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Nice, that's a ladder.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I would have been nice to get the top run
that ladder.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I know, man, so that was a good call.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Patrick Rodgers finished solo third, three shots back. It looks
like Chris got her Up is here to stay. He
did an impressive breakthrough season in twenty twenty five. He
won the Scottish Open, then finished third at the Open
Championship the following week. There was some talk that he
might be in consideration for a Ryder Cup spot. He
didn't make the team, but he's already staking acclaim for

(01:30):
a spot on the President's Cup team later this year.
It was impressive that got her Up won the Sony
because Wili Country Club wouldn't seem to suit his game
generally favors accuracy off the tea rather than distance. Got
her up as a bomber. He ranked seventh and driving
distance last season in one hundred and fifty, fourth in

(01:51):
driving accuracy. It was also outside the top one hundred
and strokes game putting, but got her Up found enough fairways.
He's a good wind player, and it was breezy all
week in Hawaii, and also got her Up was really
dialed in with the potter. I think it's fair to
say that he's a good win player. You know, after
doing well in Scotland last year and you know now

(02:14):
he conquered the breezy conditions, we saw a whylie. But
what did you make of godarr Up's victory and the
first PGA Tour event of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, we might classify him as a bomber because of
his stats last year. If you look at a macro
view of his stats last year, sure he's a bomber.
Not the most accurate player off the tee, struggles with
putting it at moments, but the way he finished last
season was a totally different profile of a player. This
is still very young player of believes it's still in
his early twenties, tons and tons of talent and so

(02:47):
maybe he's taking that next step where we're seeing improvement
year over year or even event over event from Chris Godrup.
And for him to win in a breezy course that
doesn't necessarily fit his game style, it just shows that
the cream rises to the top. He got hot and
when the wind is up and everybody else is kind

(03:08):
of hanging around par he went nuclear and shot sixty
four and it was a very impressive performance and I
don't think anybody should take Chris gotta up lightly no
matter where the event is being held, if he's in
the field, if he gets hot, or if the breeze
picks up, We're looking at a formidable player that can

(03:30):
win a tournament.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yes, indeed, now let's get into the American Express preview,
where we're probably not going to see a lot of
wind in the California desert.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
This is a unique event.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
It's a pro am, one of only two pro ams
on the tour schedule. It's played on three different courses,
one of four events.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
To use multiple venues.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
It has a giant field one hundred and fifty six players,
and it has a fifty four hole cut rather than
a thirty six hole cut. Everyone plays one round at
each of the three courses, then the cutmakers play the
final round of the peate Die Stadium Course in Lakita, California.
The peat Die Stadium Course par seventy two seventy two

(04:11):
hundred and ten yards. It's a fairly short course by
tour standards. The greens are poa they're on the small side.
Water comes into play on seven holes, including the seventeenth,
the par three with an island green. The rough is
pretty tame, as a pro am after all, they don't
want to. They don't want to punish the amateurs too
much and make six and seven hour rounds out there.

(04:33):
So yeah, the stadium course pretty easy track by PGA
Tour standards, but yet it is still the hardest of
the three courses. At the American Express Lakina Country Club
par seventy two, measuring only seven sixty yards, very short course,
the par threes are challenging, the par fours and par
five's very birdy friendly. The greens at Lakina CC are

(04:58):
tiny and they are also the greens are.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Poe on all three courses.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
So final track the Nicholas Tournament Course seven forty seven
yard par seventy two. Same story here, short course, non
penal roffs, small greens, some tricky par threes, a lot
of easy par four's and par fives. Sepstrac is the
defending MX champ. He finished twenty five under par last year,

(05:23):
two shots better than Justin Thomas Nick Dunlap won in
twenty twenty four when he finished twenty nine under par.
John Rahm was the MX champ in twenty twenty three,
he was minus twenty seven. These scores you have to
go low. The sepstrac is twenty five under par last year,
the highest or the worst.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Winning score of the last three years.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
The weather should be perfect all week highs in the
low eighties, a lot of sun light wins. Normally most
of the top players skip the American Express, but this
year we're getting one of the best MX fields we
have ever seen. I suspect it's because the Century was
canceled this year. That event normally kicks off the main
part of the PGA Tour schedule. It's a signature event

(06:07):
that draws a lot of the A listers, but with
the Century canceled this year, most of the A listers
skip the Sony and now they want to get dialed
in before some of the big events in the California Swing. Clearly,
we're going to need a lot of birdie makers this week.
Bow your thoughts on the American Express and the stat

(06:27):
categories you are emphasizing this week.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Birdie or better percentage is number one on my list,
and it's very heavily weighted in my model. Proximity on
approached distances between one hundred and one hundred and fifty yards.
There are going to be the vast majority of the
approach distances. I'm not looking at maybe approach statistics as
a whole, more of the proximity stats giving themselves opportunities

(06:53):
for birdie's opportunities gained birdies are better gained, and then
your general ball striking. A little bit of a separator
stat for this event is par three strokes gain on
par three's because of the only difficult holes being par three's.
It's not either they're long or overly complicated, they're just
tougher than the par fours and fives. And so I'm

(07:14):
kind of looking to say, okay, who makes the most birdies,
and then who also scores well or gain strokes on
par three's. Surprisingly enough, Scotty Shuffler is not even in
the top twenty five in strokes gain par three in
this field in my model, which makes it a little
interesting for the rest of this field because he's number
one or top five in every other category. But it's

(07:38):
gonna come down to making tons of birdies. We know
Scotty can do that. We know a lot of these
guys can do that. All the way down this field,
we've seen pretty much top to bottom this entire field
of one hundred and fifty six win golf tournaments recently,
so I don't think anybody's really out of it, even
though Scotty's here.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah, and you know, with Scotty here and with some
of the other big names, there are some interesting values
at longer odds, and we are gonna get into that.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Wait yeah, same here, same here.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
Bo, you might be able to outflank me on the
long shots, but we've got a couple at better longer
than one hundred to one.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
I'm kind of intrigued by.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
It's a teaser.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yes, Now, we will get to the odds for the
AMX in just a moment, but first.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Let's get to the odds. Scotty Scheffler is the favorite
at plus two point fifty. Ben Griffin is eighteen to one.
Sam Burns and Ludwig Oberger are twenty to one. Russell
Henley and Patrick Cantley are twenty five to one, Robert
McIntyre's twenty eight to one, Matt Fitzpatrick thirty to one,
Harry Holland sepstrac at thirty five to one, Taylor Pendrith

(09:23):
forty to one.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
But are we getting.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Any value on Scotty at two and a half to one?
And is there anyone you especially like from this group
other than Scotty?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Well, Scotty. I did find him on DraftKings right now
plus two seventy five. Oh big, big, huge difference there, U.
But yeah, this is gonna be. Yeah, you can bet
on Scotty. Just don't expect much in the way of
returns because the odds are so short. But a win's
a win. I don't fault anybody for betting Scotty Scheffler

(09:55):
because honestly, he does have kind of a fifty to
fifty shot to win here. It's he's that good. He's
that much better than everybody else overall. I think on
a week to week basis, we can look at guys
like Russell Henley, who obviously scores just as well on
par three. He's a better part three scorer. He's almost
as good at making birdies. He's just not quite the

(10:16):
ball striker or putter that Scotty Scheffler is. And that's
surprising because Henley is widely regarded as a great putter.
Scotty Schefler figured that out last year and that's why
he's been so dominant. And so I think Russell Henley
at twenty five to one's a great value for Scotty.
I'm going to try to hunt the live betting markets
throughout the tournament. If he slips behind after so so

(10:41):
round on one of these golf courses, you might get
a little bit of relief on value there. But I
wouldn't expect him at any point to slip more than
to five to one. So happy hunting. I think if
I'm being a fun better where I feel a certain
way about maybe enough different sporting event. It is a

(11:02):
championship weekend in the NFL, and I think the Seahawks
and Patriots are going to win, so I might parlay
Scotti Scheffler's outright win with Patriots and or the Seahawks
in a DraftKings parlay. I was able to get a
lot better odds parlaying those three legs together and twenty bucks.

(11:23):
Instead of paying you fifty bucks, it could pay you
up to one hundred and two one hundred and fifty
to two hundred and fifty bucks, depending on where you
land those odds. So have a little fun with it.
You're not going to get much win out of value
out of a win with Scotti Scheffler, but if you
have a strong lean towards something.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Else, by all means have some fun.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
This is obviously we're playing for money, but we're also
playing to have some skin in the game and watch
watch more sports. What's not to like?

Speaker 3 (11:52):
I like that you're working in your NFL tow it's here,
baul hey. I mean it's a multi sport show here.
So what did I say?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
These greens were both POA and you're looking about Russell
Henley on non Bermuda greens are what are we doing here?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Well, I mean he's instead of tenth best on overall
or Bermuda, he's fourth best. He's twenty ninth on poet
so that's not bad.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
That's not bad.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
So Scotty skipped this event last year, but he had
played in each of the previous five seasons. He finished
third at the MX in twenty twenty, but was outside
the top ten the other four years. Then again, that
was kind of back in the day before Scotty turned
into a cyborg, so we can't really hold it against
him that he hasn't hasn't won here. Ben Griffin is

(12:40):
kind of interesting. He finished seventh Yere last year, ninth
and twenty twenty four. His strokes game numbers in this
event have been excellent, and he's coming off a nineteenth
place finish at the Sony. Bob john Ram called this
a putting contest a while ago, and yeah, if so.

(13:01):
Sam Burns two top tens and four top twenties in
his last six stops at this event, and he's one
of the best putters in the world, so he is
a guy. If it is in fact a putting contest.
I don't mind putting money on Sam Burns at a
putting contest. Ludwig Oberg interesting, he's making his debut here.
This is the guy who seems to be at his
best on tough courses. I'm not sure we're getting great

(13:24):
value on ober Get twenty to one in a tournament
that's going to be a birdie fest. Patrick Cantley, he's
been pretty good here over the years, with four top
tens in his last six stops at the American Express.
California native seems very comfortable here. Who else a couple
couple euros who had good showings at the Sony. Robert

(13:46):
McIntyre missed the cut in his only previous American Express,
but he's one of the best players in the world
now and very sharp in Hawaii last week. And your
guy bo Harry Hall sixth at the Sony could have
been even better. I think it was the tenth hole
on Sunday where he clunked a tree with his second

(14:07):
shot after missing the fairway, and that kind of kind
of ruined his chances. Great putter and Harry Hall ranked
fifth in par three scoring last year. I think that's
an important category in this event since the par threes
are generally the toughest holes on all three of these courses.
And oh, by the way, we've got the defending Champs
Epstraca who Yeah. In his last events, the hero World

(14:32):
Challenge last month, he finished third. So there are some
interesting names at the top for sure.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
So can I add one more thing on Harry Hall.
I was able to get him on DraftKings just now
at forty five to one, so he's in a whole
different tier now for pricing. So thirty five is good,
forty five is even better.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Wow, Yeah that is And I mean you called it
bo He is a good player. He can really roll
the rock and not a bad ball striker.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
There, Birdie Macon machine love it all right.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Let's look at some more of the odds. We've got
Harris English, Rasmus Hoyguard, Alex Norin and Kurt Kitti Yama
at forty five to one. Seawoo, Kim, Ricky Fowler and
Michael Thorbjornsen are fifty to one. Davis Thompson and minwou
Lee are fifty five to one. Justin Rose, Jason Day,
akshe Batia and Adam Scott sixty to one.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
JT.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Posten is sixty five to one. Wyndham Clark, Daniel Berger,
Rico Hoey, Nick Taylor and Kevin You are seventy to one,
and Keith Mitchell, Christian Bazun, Dahaut, Pearson Coody, Max Grazerman,
and Denny McCarthy at seventy five to one. Anyone from
this group that you like.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I just have Harry Hall at forty five to one
in this tier. I like some of you guys in
this in this strange Actually Akha Battia again, another guy
who fell out of this tier and into the next one.
I just got him eighty to one on DraftKings. So
auk Sha Batiya for me, eighty to one is very

(16:03):
appealing because another guy who can make birdies and bunches,
and who has over the last couple of years stood
toe to toe with the best golfers in the world
at bigger events than this one. I think his upside
at eighty to one right now is great. I'd probably
go as short as sixty five to one, which is fine.
That's a really intriguing number.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
And then the.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Rest of these guys are good but not great. Kevin
Ugh is interesting at seventy. I want to see him
a little bit longer. Maybe if he slips to eighty
or ninety, I'd be on Kevin. You because again Bertie
making upside and then Grazerman and McCarthy are okay, But
I just don't think they can win in a tournament
that Scottie Scheffler's in that these are guys that kind

(16:47):
of fall back a little bit when the competition is better.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
We were talking about Seawoo Kim last week, Bo, and
you kind of said that you only like betting Seawoo
on Pete Die courses. Yeah, we got one of them,
got the Pete Die Stadium course, so we've got, you know,
at least one round maybe two on a peat Die course.
See Wu won here in twenty twenty one, finished top

(17:12):
twenty five in each of the next three years after that.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Bow, So I'm kind of intrigued by.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Sea Wu on a tournament that's going to be played
half on a peat Die course.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
JT.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Post in strong record at the American Express ill Postino
has five top twenty fives and two top tens here
since twenty nineteen.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
But can he win there? Is the question?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Might like him for a top ten or a top
twenty bet not sure about betting him to win outright.
Christian Bazuin, how kind of interesting, finished second here in
twenty twenty four and played pretty well in a couple
of DP World Tour events in December. And Daniel Berger
has been pretty solid here in the past and finished

(17:55):
sixth last week at the Sony. All right, now, let's
get to some of these You see long shots, bo
who do you like it eighty to one or longer?

Speaker 2 (18:05):
So I have a list here. There's one, two, three,
four guys and starting with like, I think you like
too big finn man Sammy Vallamaki. Yes, yes, so I
think you're looking at one hundred and thirty. I got
him at one hundred and forty. I'm also interested in
a top ten bet, which is plus eight hundred right now.

(18:26):
Sammy Volamaki is that perfect combination I'm looking for where
he's a birdie making machine. He's eighth in this field
in birdier better percentage on easy scoring conditions, and he's
number two in this field by the same metrics for
stroke skiing Part three. Very interesting, loads and loads of talent.
Not the most consistent player, but this is the kind
of birdy fest for Sammy Volamaki is just going to

(18:46):
let it rip and the big Finn is going to
be making birdies. Will he have enough firepower to win.
Hard to say, will he have enough firepower to get
top ten and pay off eight to one?

Speaker 3 (18:57):
I think so.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Sammy Volamaki's great for this tournament. Lee Hodges pops in
for me at one seventy to one. Top twenty is
plus three eighty. That's good value. You're going to talk
about Luke Clanton two two hundred and fifty to one
as where I got him top twenty numbers plus five
point fifty. I like that top twenty number really well.
But I'll because Clanton has got so much upside, very

(19:19):
very inconsistent, erratic player, but he's got enough talent to win.
I'll throw five bucks on him to win at two
hundred and fifty to one.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
What's what?

Speaker 2 (19:26):
He can't really lose a cup of coffee over that.
And then before you go crazy with your guys here,
I'm going to drop Brian Campbell in here because he's
ticked us off multiple times by beating us as a
super duper long shot that nobody had any business. Nobody
has any business betting Brian Campbell ever, except for the

(19:47):
two times where he's burnt us on easy golf courses
that are birdie fests. And so Brian Campbell is coming
in at two thousand to one. Outright, he has two
PGA Tour wins. By the way, he's fIF fifty five
to one for a top ten and nineteen to one
for a top twenty. You don't have to invest much
in Brian Campbell. Put a dollar on each of those

(20:08):
bets and just let it ride, because if he's going
to burn everybody else that doubts him, we're going to
cash in.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
He's the little fella who pot geetered us last year
at the at the was it the Mexico Open?

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Is that where it was? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:25):
So where he in uh sudden death, had a ball
headed for the trees and it's spit it out and
he winds up making birdie on that par five.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
I mean, all Campbell's got game except for distance off
the tee, and that's not going to kill you in
this event, because now you know, other than par five,
scoring distance doesn't mean much at these course.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Seventh and birdies are better number one in par three,
scoring number four and putting. It's it's pretty crazy. This
guy has almost no balls striking to speak of, but
his short game is so good that he makes a
ton of birdies.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, yeah, I dig it. So I like a couple
of guys.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
I mean I said eighty to one or longer two
guys who are eighty to one or were last I
checked will Zalatorus. He's had all sorts of problems with
his back, but apparently he's healthy now. He finished fifteenth
in a DP World Event World Tour event last month.
He's played the MX four times and has three top tens.
Seems like a pretty good price for him at eighty

(21:31):
to one for a guy who's that could a ball striker,
because oh yeah, he can hit it close and you
need to hit it close this week and giving us
Ryan Gerard again at eighty to one and he almost
won last week. Yeah, I can get back on board that.
And let me just piggyback on your Sammy Vallamachi patch.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Here bo with the big Finn.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
No one pays attention to the false swing. We know that,
But who was red hot during the false swing? It
was Sammy Vallamachi. Over a three week stretch in November,
Vallamachi finished second at the Worldwide Technology Championship, was eighteenth
at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. And won the RSM. This

(22:12):
guy's a terrific putter. He's good on approach. The weakest
part of his game is driving, and that weakness is
somewhat mitigated at the MX because.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
You can leave the driver in the bag for a
lot of it. Yeah, you mentioned Luke Clanton. I just
I think that's.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
A guy with a lot of upside at a terrific price.
And one more Bud Cawley one hundred and eighty to
one last I checked. Now, he has not played this
event since twenty twenty, but he had four top fifteen
finishes here over a five year stretch from twenty sixteen
to twenty twenty, including a third and a fourth. Collie

(22:48):
Strokes gain numbers here been excellent, and he's coming off
a pretty solid showing last week at the Sony.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Where he was twenty sixth.

Speaker 1 (22:56):

Speaker 3 (23:54):
Bo Who do you have on your early betting card?

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I'm going to save Scotti for live betting and parlays
with football games because I'm a junkie. So Russell Henley
twenty five to one Harry Hall forty five to one.
Ok Shavatia eighty to one, Sammy Vallamaki one hundred and
forty to one with a top ten bet at eight
plus eight hundred, Lee Hodges one hundred and seventy to one.

(24:18):
Top twenty bet is plus three eighty. Luke Clinton two
hundred fifty to one. His top twenty bet is plus
five fifty. And then we're going the cheap value ladder
on Brian Campbell two thousand to one outright, fifty five
to one for a top ten bet and nineteen to
one for a top twenty.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (24:36):
All right, I'm just gonna give my outrights right now.
I haven't decided on top fives or top tens, but
my card starts with a couple of thirty five to
one guys Sepstraca and Harry Hall see who Kim at
fifty to one, banking on that Pete die Thing, Boe
Ryan Gerard at eighty to one, Sammy Vallamaki at one
hundred and forty to one, and Bud Cawley at one

(24:58):
hundred and eighty to one. All right, and now for
our one and done competition. Bo kicked off this year's
competition by taking Michael Kim. Last week at the Sony,
he tied for thirty first, good for forty nine, eight
hundred and ninety eight dollars. I took Nick Taylor. He
was thirteenth and earned me one hundred and sixty three
forty one dollars. I am up first this week. This

(25:21):
feels cheesy taking two straight defending champions, but I'm gonna
do it again.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
I'm gonna take Sepstraca, very true of you.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
I'm gonna go kind of a horse for the course.
I'm expecting a turnaround season to some degree.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
For Patrick Cantley, Oh nice, burning kind of a big gun,
although you know Can'tley has it.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Yeah, They've been a big gun in years, so I'm
just hoping he finds something good points.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
All right, that's gonna do it for this week's Betting
Pros PGAA podcast. We will be back next week to
preview a big one, the Farmer's Insurance Open at Tory Pines.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Until then, so long he everyone.

Betrayal Season 5

Betrayal Season 5

Saskia Inwood woke up one morning, knowing her life would never be the same. The night before, she learned the unimaginable – that the husband she knew in the light of day was a different person after dark. This season unpacks Saskia’s discovery of her husband’s secret life and her fight to bring him to justice. Along the way, we expose a crime that is just coming to light. This is also a story about the myth of the “perfect victim:” who gets believed, who gets doubted, and why. We follow Saskia as she works to reclaim her body, her voice, and her life.
