Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into episode when one hundred and twenty two of
Bring Heaven Down. My name is Tim and I'm the
host of this daily devotional podcast. This week has really
been about how there is no gender role inferior to
one another, but rather complimentary. Despite what the world tries
(00:27):
to convince us to think that women are being degraded
by men because they think they can do things that
we can't, but they fail to leave out that women
can do so many things that men can't do. And
(00:47):
that's really been what this week has been about. And
I want to finish this week by discussing a woman
in the Bible that was applauded and rewarded for her faithfulness.
And the person I'm discussing is Ruth. It says this
(01:09):
Ruth loved her mother in law and had great compassion
for her, seeing that she had lost not only her
husband but both of her sons. Ruth's sister in law,
or Pah, made the choice to stay with her people
in Moab, but Ruth could not bear depart from Naomi
or from the God of Israel that she had come
(01:32):
to know. Together, Ruth and Naomi made the journey back
to Judah, to the city of Bethlehem, where they decided
to settle. Ruth's testimony spread and bo As, the owner
of a nearby field, heard of her faithfulness, as recorded
in Ruth Chapter two, verses eleven through twelve. Bo As replied,
(01:55):
I've been told all about what you have done for
your mother in law since the death of your husband,
how you left your father and mother and your homeland
and came to live with the people you did not
know before. May the Lord repay you for what you
have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord,
(02:17):
the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come
to take refuge. And then it says Ruth trusted the Lord,
and he rewarded her faithfulness by giving her not only
a husband, but a son, a grandson, and a great
grandson named David, the King of Israel. Besides these gifts,
(02:43):
God gave Ruth the blessing of being listed in the
lineage of Jesus. Ruth is an example of how God
can change a life and take it in a direction
he has fore ordained. We see him working out his
perfect plan in Ruth's life, just as he does with
all his children. Although Ruth came from a pagan background
(03:06):
in Moab. Once she met the God of Israel, she
became a living testimonial to him by faith. Even though
she lived in humble circumstances before marrying bo Az, she
believed that God was faithful to care for his people. Also,
Ruth is an example to us of hard work and faithfulness.
(03:28):
We know that God rewards faithfulness, and without faith, it
is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to
him must believe that He exists and that He rewards
those who earnestly seek him. All great women that I know,
and this is a characteristic of Ruth as well, are
(03:49):
faithful and have really solid prayer life. And Ruth is
an example to all women but also to all men
in being faithful and having a prayer life. And she
(04:12):
is an inspirational story in the Bible and gets rewarded
by being in the lineage of Jesus because she could
have stayed where she was at, hung out with her people,
stayed comfortable, but she left with her mother in law
(04:32):
to a land that she was unfamiliar with, and because
of that she was rewarded. She trusted when she could
not see, when when she was unfamiliar believed when it
was uncomfortable, and Ruth trusted the Lord and she got
(04:56):
rewarded by him. I wish I was better at believing
and trusting when things were uncomfortable or when I could
not see the other side, because there are many times
in my life where I'm like, yeah, I see that Lord,
but uh, I see what you want me to do,
(05:24):
But let me just try this way first. Thank you
for choosing Jesus today and for listening to these podcasts
all week. If you haven't listened to them, I would
encourage you to go back and listen to them. They
start on episode one hundred and nineteen is Biblical Manhood,
one hundred and twenty is Biblical Womanhood, one hundred and
(05:47):
twenty one was Adam responsible for the Fall in this one.
Thank you for choosing Jesus, and I hope you all
have a wonderful day inspired by the Holy Spirit.
