A carefully curated episode of 2 cereals with cinnamon, and one that certainly could use some! First, the new Kellogg's Raisin Bran Protein has a "touch" of cinnamon. Then our friends from Good Grains give us Organic Cinnamon Puffs. Finally, we are not quite sure what to make of a cereal with only 2 ingredients.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Cereal Killers. Hi. Hi, if you're listening by date,
today is Monday, July sixth. Well, look, I have all
digits for now. What do you mean? What are you
gonna do?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I don't know who can say? Oh, let me move this.
That definitely wasn't recorded.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Give me that, give me that you're gonna mix it up? No,
they're not. You know nothing about life.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
You said you organized them on the last episode.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yep, you see that purple one right next to it.
We're going there. Andrew, Welcome to Serial Killers, the podcast
where we eat.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Cereal Raisin brand protein is going to be our first
one today. There is are you exciting?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Brand? New found that in target?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
The sun is so happy on these boxes? Yeah, stack
protein and fiber full on nutrition. One delicious duo.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
But did you see what else is in there that's
not normally in raisin bran?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I touch a cinnamon. Yes, that's interesting. It is is
that where the protein comes from? No?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Can I please open it? You've been ripping boxes left
and right, and you didn't shake it either. You also
didn't shake it upside down? Have I taught you nothing
in these seven years? Andrews? Okay, all right, all right,
all right, all right, okay, it's ready now, Okay, here
we go, fun.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Okay, why did you do that?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Because I wanted to open the bag? Hm?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Why can't okay, why can't you know?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
That's fair? That's very good.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Do you know that album was the one that tanked
her career?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Why? Because I've never heard of her before that?

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Okay, so she was like a very popular alternative signal. Indeed,
and then that was like almost when Jewel made Intuition.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah, and that tanked her career too. Well, then she
did the Razors.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Well, honestly, good for her because she's still making money
from that song even though it was the one that
tanked her probably.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, is she back in her car? What is she
back in her car? Car? Jewel?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Jewel?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah? What she lived in her car?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Is that what she said? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
She used to live in her car?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh wow, she lived in Alaska? Right, yes, oh, Cams,
do you remember that song?

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Of course I do. That's nineties bro, nineties ca. I
don't want to know, no, So I do taste the
just touch of cinnamon, for sure. There was a touch
that is not a touch mm hm.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Remember what's in charge of the touch should maybe.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
The cover fell off. Yeah, they were using the sprinkle
the filter, but then it fell off and the whole
thing went in like it happens in my house. This
is like my version of a touch because I am
not good with measuring.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
This is just cinnamon.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
I find it interesting though, the raisins in this particular raisin.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I got one raisin in that whole about nine or
ten that was not a double scoop.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Promise it may not be too scoop. That's two scoops
that doubles. So stupid. The raisins are not sugar. You
said that in episode five ninety two as well. We haven't.
We're nowhere near five ninety two.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Oh, in episode five ninety two. I'm gonna say it.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, I bet you won't.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah, I bet I won't either. We won't even be alive.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
In five ninety two. This is actually four forty three
that we're doing right now so we could get there. Wow,
you're crazy. You've been four hundred and forty three episodes. Yeah,
seven years, twelve thirteen hundred cereals.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I mean insane.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
It is insane in the membrane.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, insane in the brain.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Umm, it's okay, this is not what I was expecting.
It's definitely more cinnamon than ball should be.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's such a lame cereal, very lame, very cinnamony, and
I don't mind it, but I feel lied too, because
I was expecting the raisin brand and only getting one
raisin and that whole thing and then just having cinnamon
raisin flakes or cinnamon flakes was just what is that?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Well? I don't really understand the whole protein thing. I
know I got plenty of protein in my life. I
don't need it crammed into cereals that already had protein anyway,
But they just say protein now, yeah, to make people like,
oh oh I need more? Is there too much protein?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
I think there is? And it makes your farts smell
really bad? Really, yes, protein farts. Haven't you ever seen
that good thing?

Speaker 1 (04:07):
You live alone? Yeah, I'm gonna give.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It if if I'm not hearing it for next Monday's episode.
I gassed myself two.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Balls on a spoon. Great, yeah, oh I need good grains.
That's how he would speak.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Oh really, what's his name?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Aborigine man?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
What?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I don't know? He's a yet yea, that's yeah? What's
an aborigine? Ew what that's like strawberry? Oh that looks
like bird poop that had a berry. Oh cool, great, No,
I probably like sprayed raspberry on it or something you sprayed.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Why would you spray it?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I don't know, all right. I love the family. The
family is just so adorable.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I love the characters that they made. This is great. Okay,
So there's no name for this guy.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yeah, there is, we do. We discovered it episodes ago.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
He's a y eddie and he's going to and he's
going to do you want to open it? I would
like an ancient grain for modern hell. This is good
grains organic cinnamon puffs. So this looks like it's just
a honey smack but with cinnamon.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, and he sent it to us. Good dude.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Oh, if you guys need someone for branding, wink.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Really. I think that's funny because you didn't really like
his first cereal, So why would he use you? Maybe
he'd use me because I enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
One day we'll get an mad on this podcast.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
And again, all right, so this one is u oh,
come more cinnamon, Andrew. This is organic cinnamon puffs.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
And that one is also.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Going to be cinnamon yep. See how I curated. You
did a bad job. Why you should have had more variety.
Why it's all cinnamon all the time.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
So maybe I'll call it that, and you definitely will.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
What can I call it? Like cinnamost Oh no?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Oh, so cheeky again?

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Two percent milk. That's really my go to Andrew, that's great, Scott,
still trying to get Moozy on board. Maybe I should
reach out to them.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I mean, after the milk exploded on me.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Well, I mean, you don't shake cans.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
You haven't grown hair growing in, by the way.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
That's fine. If it's growing in, how could it be
in grown? Because don't touch it.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
It's like curling.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Don't touch it.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Trust me, I get them all the time. It's downfall curly.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Here. How's the consistency of this, Max? The honey smacks?
Mm hmmm, well the golden crush, but it's got cinnamon
all over it.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I like it. To me, this tastes like and I
know maybe it's not. It tastes like a healthy apple jack.
Like the cinnamon is giving me apple jack vibes, which
I enjoy. This is pretty good. I have to say.
I'm gonna give this one three bowls in a spoon.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Okay, I like it, but again I think the cat
fell off the cinnamon. There's a lot of cinnamon in here.
I think it needs to be complimented with something else.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
To me, I don't taste as much as I did
in that raisin.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
That's interesting. This doesn't have as much to make like
you know what I would love in this, like cinnamon, sugar.
But that's the whole thing they're trying to avoid. I guess.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, good grains doesn't sugar coat.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Oh look at you. Oh it says it on there, Ah, Andrew,
I thought you thought of that. That could have been great.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
No, no, I would have shamed. I wouldn't be on
the Cereal podcast if I was that way.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah, I'm gonna give a three bowls in a spoon
as well. I like it. The cinnamon is it's a
bit much cinnamon, But I do like the underlying thing. Yeah,
the grain. Oh like it. Freddy Freddy the Eddy?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Oh yeah, thank you Freddy Eddy?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Of course? All right, are you Freddy EDDI? No, no, no, no,
say of course. Because we found his name, I like,
I need to do better research before we do stuff.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
I know you used to really research these things. You
used to go on like small little monologues.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Like I feel like I would sit down and you'd
be like a teacher, and you'd be like, back in
seventeen forty two, there was this grain that they found
and they made the cereal. And now you come in
and you're just like, yeah, farmer Matt sent it.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
It's cool.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
We'll open it. Andrew, you're opening it wrong.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
So do you think that I need to do more
and do better? I think for your research purposes? Yeah,
I found that fun. People I guess think we're lazy
now trying to bang them out.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I don't know if it would be we What do
you do? Rance?

Speaker 1 (08:16):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (08:17):
I mean, I take care of uploading everything.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Oh I see, Yeah, we want to get into it.
We'll be back right, we'll be back right after this
and we're back.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, all right. Speaking of former Matt, let's you go
back there grab the third one, Andrew. This one, I
don't know, I'm afraid.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Found found grocery. Yeah, found grocery outlet in Philly. There's
only two ingredients on this one.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Ilari.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
I've never heard of this me neither tiger nut root cereal.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Okay, what's the second ingredient.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Tiger nut, rice root flour and then organic rice flour.
That's it.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
I'm not sure if I'm into the tiger nuts, Andrew.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
I've never heard of a tiger nut. What, I don't
know what that? What does the root look like?

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Is there flavor?

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Nut free, tiger free? Okay, so this is nut free,
gluten free, dairy free, corn free.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Taste free.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
It's got zero grams of added sugar, it has three
grams of protein, it's seven grams of fiber. It's a
good source of iron and calcium, and there's no dyes. Okay.
Naturally delicious, seriously nutritious. The story began long ago with
a small striped root called the tiger nut, revered as
an ancient superfood. The tiger nut is humble yet nutritionally dense,

(09:41):
high in prebiotic fiber, and delivering on essentral nutrients. It's
kind to the earth, too, requiring less water usage during
the cultivations. Excuse me, okay, at a lari, they're dedicated
to sharing the wonderful tiger nut with us.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Where's this company? This is?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
They're from a pa Pastor Organics Incorporated, Collegeville, PA.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Oh if I could just back up for one moment,
I just want to plug our friends a good Grains
if you're interested in trying in cereals Good Grains dot com.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yeah good. I honestly have to tell you this. This
one was a little a nice to light.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I like the chocolate one.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
You didn't that boxes Maybe the tiger nut glued it.
I don't okay, oh wait, I didn't mean it, like,
oh no, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
So here's another case. Here's another case of this massive
ass box. It's not even massive but a regular size box.
And look at the bag. It's like, yeah, I gotta
reach way down again. That's insane, insane if you're watching
on YouTube wherever you're watching this thing, like there's like
maybe a cup and a half to two cups of cereals.
Here it is a tiny ass bag.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Oh my god, yeah baby size.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Take a picture, Andrew, yes, of course, yeah, perfect. Did
you get my big fat belly? Okay, good, This big
fat box locked it. But the little bag. See, I'm
gonna open. It's gonna go everywhere, just like Via did
and Alice with the straws. Remember, oh my god, that
was so good.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
If you and Alice, that was so funny.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I'll give you a thousand dollars if you tell me
where Mel's Diner was portrayed. Where it was Mel's Diner
was in uh happy days? No, no, like where Mel's
in the country where like what city?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Oh my gosh, how could it be anywhere? But uh,
uh Illinois?

Speaker 1 (11:33):
No, that's not a city. No, no, no, it was in Phoenix.
Alice moved to Phoenix, of course she did with her
son Tommy.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
What is this smell like? Oh lord, that tiger nut
is something.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
I got nothing. I smelled plastic cup.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
We're going to see how this goes milk. I don't
get the garbage can.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
No, I don't think it's gonna be vimicious. I just
think it's gonna have no.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Taste, notious. If we had merch, we would make one
that says vimicious. I would make a vemicious hat. Okay,
here we go. Still smells like actually smells like the milk.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Now, if there was actually a taste of nothing, this
is it. It tastes like nothing, like actual nothing, and
it makes paste in your mouth.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
My brain like actually shut off, trying to like figure out.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
There's nothing there. There's no flavor, taste, hmm, We'll try again.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I've never had this experience before.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
I mean, it tastes slightly root ish, but not even really.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
It's not offensive.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
So you eat packing peanuts. No, it's not just no flavor.
There's nothing.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
It's weird. There's like I'm when we say there's no flavor,
there is literally no flavor, like like nothing, this piece
of paper, it's it's the same thing. You eat this,
it tastes like this.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
They're so strange, like maybe this with chocolate milk would
be great. You know, I'm not really sure.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
I don't think so. I think if you did put
it probably in a shake though, like if you were
to blend it and make like a protein.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Just for filler, it's so flavoring that would.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Probably blend well. I do think that.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
I'm not really true. I don't know what to do
with it. I take it. Does it now that I'm thinking,
it tastes slightly nutty, maybe slightly, ever so slightly. I
know I'm gonna I don't. I don't know what to do. Yeah,
because it's not terrible, no.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
But.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Uh wow, yeah, Larie, I'm gonna. I'm gonna give it
two balls in a spoon. I guess because it's not bad,
but it doesn't make any sense to me.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I'm going to give it three bowls, and I don't
know why. Yeah, because it's neither offensive nor is it great,
but it sits above a lot of awful things that
we've had. So I'm gonna give it props for being
a healthy ish cereal, or like one of these Shehi cereals,
as you would say, and actually being somewhat decent in

(14:06):
a weird way.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah. So, I just want to check out their website
really quick. It says drink.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
That's what I thought was interesting too. Yeah, NK, why
is it drink? This is where you're supposed to use
it in protein shakes and we just did it wrong. No.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
I think that they probably started off that way and
then decided to make some cereals. The two ingredients cereal.
How do they have flavors?

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Let's see the typical healthy cereal? Okay, yeah, but what
are the other flavors? Do they have? Like a frosted,
a fruit left one?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
I mean it appears possibly that one home shop our cereal. God,
the pop ups are insane, Yeah, they're okay, so there's
one that's just sweetened. We got original, right, yep, okay,
so we got original.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
This is like their cheerios.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
They've also got sweetened. I would like to try that.
And then there's tiger nutroot. What is this one? A banana? Maybe? Honey? Yeah,
m honey vanilla? Okay, wow, these are twelve forty nine
a box. That's insane.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I will say, if they came to the table and
said they wanted sponsor us, I would not be offended.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I don't think they will because you can buy this
crap anywhere. I guess you get it on it.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
I didn't mean to say crap because it's just okay, yeah,
all right anyway, Like I said, this over like a
magic spoon any day. Oh for sure, there's no doubt
about it. I don't need to spit this out, no, wow,
And I.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Would like to try the sweetened one. I really really would.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Okay, let's see if we can get it farmer, Matt.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Hey, Alari, we'd love if you sent it to us. Wink.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I'll tag them and see what happens. Yeah, all right, anyway,
thank you so much for listening to Serial Killers. This
was an interesting episode. Yeah, we may or may not
