Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, here we go, Pack twelve fans, This one's
for you. This it's the Pack twelve Apostles and only
the truth lives here. Packed twelve Apostles.

You guys to make sure that you guys head over
to YouTube. We have so much content on college football
up there as well.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
You can just.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Search George Reister or Unafraid Show. Either way that will work.
And uh, you guys, make sure that you leave a
five star rating wherever you listen to podcasts, tell a
friend about the show and we are jam packed today.
Or you can hit us up on Twitter at Pack
twelve Apostles, at George Reister, at Ralph Amsdon. Those are
(00:52):
your options. We're talking about the coaches that could be
leaving out of the conference, the Pac twelve championship game scenarios,
the college football playoff rankings, Oregon State, Washington State, their
future and beyond, and recruiting is closing down, so we
got to find find out more about that. And also
(01:14):
we are going to cover the games this week because
there was a lot that went on. Thank god the
PAC twelve refs weren't a hot topic of discussion again,
because at some point in time, it's got to stop somewhere.
It's absolutely got to stop somewhere. And a lot of
fans are like, yes, we don't have to deal with
these referees anymore, but listen, there should be some excitement there.
(01:42):
And you guys make sure that you're like, leave reviews
and ratings and we will read them from iTunes of course,
and or if there's anywhere else that you know that
you can rate stuff, then always do and most importantly share.
So we'll start the show today with I guess sad
news man. So and it's funny because I've been through
(02:03):
this many, many times, Ralph. I went through this as
a player when my coach, Mike Bellotti was offered the
USC job, did not take it while I was there
at Oregon. He was so he didn't take that job.
And then you've had you know, Chip was obviously offered
many jobs, he left and went to the Eagles. You
(02:26):
had Willie Taggart come leave and go to Florida State.
Mario Cristobal stay after Taggart left keep the job leaving
go to Miami. And now you have Dan Lanny who
was like, I'm not ef and leaving, I'm not having
leaving and I love it. But there are some other
(02:47):
schools that are learning how to deal with this and
all of the whole all Oregon's a stepping stone job
and this and this don't feel so good right now?
Doesn't don't feel so good.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
For someone who's been through this several times. You don't
sound like you got a lot of sympathy for the
the You sound like you're about to dance on some graves.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
The only people I, honestly, I mean, if I'm being
totally transparent, the only people that I have any sympathy
for is uh is Washington? Oh sorry, is Oregon State?
The only people that I have sympathy for. And do
you know why?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Why?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Because there's nothing that they could have done to Like,
there's literally nothing that they could have done. And I
don't believe that Jonathan Smith even wants to leave. I
just don't think he has a choice whether to leave
or not. And so we'll start with him right because
there are rumors that he is on the that it
(03:55):
is that he's done. The second interview over at Michigan
State and when he was asked about this by Paul
Paul Canzano by Canzano yesterday by John Canzano. Here was
his quote when John Canzano when he was on a
radio show and he asked him, does this mean that
(04:16):
you have not had contact with other schools? He said, quote,
I'm not trying to be sarcastic here. I've gotten an
agent that's got a job. He best be finding out
what's out there in people calling. That's how that works.
I can tell you from his side, he'd best be
working just because I'm paying him so much. They get
a percentage and I'm making him a couple million bucks.
(04:38):
I'm not trying to be sarcastic. Any coach, they're aware
of what's potentially out there if their agent is doing
their job. I'm not trying to dodge the question. I'm
just trying to be truthful. And I wanted to give
him a handclap, Ralph. I wanted to shake this man's
hand and be like, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Somebody who's not gonna sit up here and bullshits bro
(05:01):
like like, oh, I haven't talked to anybody. Of course
you haven't talked to anybody. Your representatives have talked to people,
like stop it, Crystal Baul sitting up there, I haven't
talked to anybody. Shut up. I knew, I knew it
was fiction. Then I haven't talked to anybody. That is
the biggest lie that coaches ever tell I haven't talked
(05:22):
to anybody. Yeah, yeah, you haven't, but your but your
but your people have and you talk to them about
what they said.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah. Uh, I mean I think he went a little
bit further than he needed to, and I think that
that made some some Beaver fans chew their fingernails off yesterday.
He could have just said, I have an agent, like
that is my agent's job. I have an agent. Offers
go through him, and you know, you you have to
(05:52):
entertain everything that comes in.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, but I think he was tired of people lying. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
I think that makes sense. But I think what it
revealed to Oregon State fans is that this guy that
played for you worked his way up to coach you,
brought you out of obscurity into the top twenty five,
and seems to have made your relevant for the long term.
Isn't this special hometown unicorn? He's just a businessman.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
So no, but it's not that like. I don't look
at him as a businessman because I think he's just
being smart. If he takes another job, I don't believe
that it's because they offered him more money or because
the Oregon State's a stepping stone job. I think that
he would have wanted to turn Oregon State into Oregon.
(06:41):
I think that I believe that the circumstances surrounding the
finances make it pretty untenable because he's he's making what
five million dollars now for four or five million dollars.
That doesn't like that's that's cool and dandy, But he
(07:04):
has assistance making one hundred and eighty two fifty that
could be making five six, seven hundred thousand dollars if
he takes another job.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
His contract kicked off, his contract extension kicked off in
March of this year, and it runs. I know this
doesn't matter at all, and you'll get into why, but
his contract increases one hundred thousand dollars every year. It's
thirty point six million total, and it takes him through
(07:34):
twenty twenty nine. Here's my question for you, why I
guess signing an extension with the school that you're already at.
I don't know how much an agent factors into that.
Maybe it's just haggling over market or fielding other offers
(07:57):
to come to Oregon State and say like this is
what we need to say stay. Yeah, but what percentage
is he given away that he's making his his agent
a couple million dollars?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I don't know. Okay, So for players contracts in the NFL,
you can't be over three percent. Coaches may be in
that ten percent market, though they could be. That's that's million.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Tell me, okay, uh, I mean dat ten percent? Ten
percent of this contract he just signed is is three
point oh six million? I suppose? So, yeah, I mean
I guess that's a that's a I could see why
you would say that. Now, now that I'm looking at this,
(08:46):
I'm like, damn, my agent better be working.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, yeah, brother, you better be working. You're getting some
meals up off of is you better be working.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
I made my agent a multimillionaire by just not leaving
the job that I was already at.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Dude, Dude, I mean even if his agent is making
five percent, that's still a million and a half bucks.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
So that's yeah, bro, This is yeah bro, this is
a lot of money. This is a lot of money
that we're talking about. And it's not just Jonathan Smith,
is what I was saying is that it's the other
coaches around him that have stuck by him. So U, Ralph, Ralph.
If so like if CBS offered me a deal to
(09:34):
do Unafraid Show stuff, to buy the YouTube and all
of this stuff, right, We've been working together for years
and then they make me an offer of ten million
dollars a year, right, and you're making a certain amount
of money from this. I'm making a certain amount of
money from this, but that's exponentially more than what we're
(09:58):
at right now. So if I don't take that job, right,
and mind you, it's not like an increase in like
some sort like it's gonna like get us divorced and
all of that stuff. Right, So aren't you gonna come
to me or or Aaron come come to me your
(10:20):
wife and say, George, you're not even gonna like entertain this.
I need you to explain to me why you don't.
You don't you don't think that if Aaron knew that
or you knew that, and I told you that that
you wouldn't say, I'm I don't understand can like like,
(10:42):
I'm the assistant coach, I'm paid way less than you.
Why aren't you taking this job or at least like like,
make it make sense to me why you're not even
entertaining it?
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Right? Because if if, if, if in your scenario, Jonathan
Smith says yes, then everybody gets to come up off
that you.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Know, or at least the people that he brings with him.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yeah, I mean Brian Lnren has been his OC for
the entire time, Yes, the entire time, and he's taken
other interviews, but he's he's stuck by Jonathan Smith's side.
This is Trent Bray's second season, and I think he
was on board before that. I think he was promoted
up through the the system. I do love though, for
(11:24):
people that have listened to the show for a long time,
he was.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
He's paid I believe eight twenty five right now, eight
twenty five. You don't think that he's that he could
get one point five one point six somewhere right now.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I think you could probably get two to three to
be somebody's head coach.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Yeah, but but I'm just talking about oh seeing like
that if that if Jonathan Smith took the Michigan State job,
you don't think that Brian Lingren is going to be
at least at one point three to one point four
maybe one point five.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah, or three to stay at Oregon State.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yes, exactly. Either way helps him. Yes, either way he
gets a significant raise.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I do just want to point out how funny it
is that real life crept into the podcast there for
a second, because you were about two minutes into winding
up a fastball asking me a question about if I
would come to you about something financial, and right in
the middle of it, realized that, like, I have probably
the strangest attitude toward money.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Of anybody you know.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
Yes, you switched up and you're like, would your wife
come ask on your behalf?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yes, exactly?
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Why why you're not entertaining? I just love that, like
because for people who I think, for people who know us,
they would have been laughing the whole time that you
were phrasing that question and then hearing when you changed up.
But right in the middle you're You're realize you're talking
to somebody who's like, money's not real, Like.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
That's my yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I feel like the most sensible person in the world.
But my one, like insane religious belief is that money
is pretend.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
And you know that you are a flat earther for money.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Kind yeah, kind of man.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
So to finish Jonathan Smith, though, do you believe that
he'll be the coach at Oregon State next season?
Speaker 3 (13:24):
No, I don't. I do wonder if it's a domino effect,
if he's maybe not somebody's first choice, but as more
jobs open, if he's that first name that's on the
on everybody's lips. You know. I don't know if he's
a Matt Campbell type. I don't know if he's able
to go on some of these interviews and be like, man,
(13:45):
I'm fine, yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
But the difference, See, the difference is I believe Oregon
State's a good job. The difference is that Oregon State
has no television contract for next year. With no television contract,
there's no revenue. And I know that they're saying, well, well,
we're gonna get control of if we get control of
the four hundred million dollars. Well that's two hundred to
(14:09):
Washington State, two hundred to you, and your whole budget
is one hundred and some is about one hundred million.
So what do you so like you're you are running
out of time, bro, Like, there's like you got one
season of paying the bills.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
If you're not under contract here. So I'm just gonna
pitch this thing that I've been pitching for eight years
to Larry Scott and George Klafkoff, you everybody. If you
get control of the PAC twelve network and you get
control of the money, please, for the love of God,
just put your games on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
No stream them on YouTube, bro or YouTube.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Any at least you.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Can get advertising off of it.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
For real, but just make it free. Make it free
so that you can get a couple of years of
doing something that nobody else can do, which is give
everyone access to your content.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
But I don't know if they'll listen to that. I
don't think Jonathan Smith will be around next year in Corvallis.
He definitely won't be. If they beat Oregon, Oh, Bro, Bro,
he you'll get someone. You'll get Texas A and M
knocking on the door. If if they beat Oregon, Texas
(15:31):
A and M with that short attention span, they'll be like,
this is who we need. We don't need Dan Lanning anymore.
We need the man who beat Dan Lanning exactly.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
That's exactly what they will be they what they will
be doing. It's exactly what they will be doing. Are
you now on to the next guy, Kaylin de Boor,
who is obviously Washington's coach. He is I think at
(16:01):
four and a half million right now, and he's going
to be offered bookoo dollars. His daughter is committed to
play softball at Washington, but you know, tech, the SEC
plays good softball too, and so does Michigan State probably
(16:22):
well actually no, no, not Michigan State, but the SEC does.
For sure. I do believe that he wants to stay
in Seattle, but I also believe that he understands that
Texas A and M is going to give him every
(16:43):
resource possible to be successful, plus a blank a plus
a twenty five million dollar check for winning a national championship,
which is what they've been offering.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
That man hasn't lost enough to not believe that he
could win anywhere. Yeah, so if you're playing one hundred
and thirty and twelve or something like.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
That, dude, and Washington is not ponying up the nil
dollars like that at this point, So what do you
believe ultimately happens.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if
you don't. Like, do you want to go into the
Big Ten coming off of back to back double digit
win seasons, potentially a trip to the College Football Playoff
the second one in the last eight years, and bet
(17:39):
on Seattle, you know an NBA team's coming. Eventually You're
gonna have to compete with other things in that city.
Or do you say, like, I'm really good at what
I do. I did it at Fresno, I did it
at Washington, I'm a better myself to get it done
(18:00):
in the SEC, have all of the resources in the
world and the cushion of knowing that if you fail,
your grandkids will never want for anything. Just like Jimbo, right,
it's almost a risk free decision to make the jump
(18:23):
to Texas, A and M and the SEC. And like
I said, this man is not lost enough to believe
that anything is impossible for him.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yep, So do you believe that he will be? And
mind you, there are other jobs opening around the country
as we speak, and it looks like Brendan Marian is
going to get that San Diego State job, which may
be a thing. So the question is, though, do you
(18:54):
believe that Kaylin de Boor will be the head coach
at Washington next year or would he be at Texas
A and M or somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
This feels contingent on, doesn't it feel a little bit
contingent on because they have to wait for him. Texas
A and M would have to wait for him. He can't.
You can't be in the hunt for the national championship
and pull O'Brian Kelly. You can't do it. And they
already let it slip that Jeff Trailor interviewed.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, he was upset.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
He like he was upset that he was getting questions
about the report that he had interviewed with Texas A
and M. Was he was upset about it taking attention
away from his players. What do you think is going
to happen in Seattle when you're prepping for a possible
national championship run?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Oh my god, dude, that I have seen it firsthand.
It definitely affects the team. Definitely affects the team. And
if you get these flight trackers going going on, it
is gonna go crazy. Now, Here is where Washington and
Kim Grinhold and all of them dudes. This is where
(20:20):
their their their super moderation of their of their twenty
four to seven site actually pays off. This is where
it actually pays off because they are they are keeping
everything buttoned up. Ralph. If you go to their twenty
four to seven site, which is dog Man, how many
(20:44):
threads do you think that there are what well, sorry,
prior back up a second, without knowing what I just said,
how many threads do you think that there would be
potentially about their head coach leaving.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
It would be all of them, that would be It
would just be thread after thread after thread of only
that be very annoying.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yep. You go on their page, you have to scroll down.
There is not one single solitary thread about it, not one,
not one the the The last one I saw was
(21:29):
from last week where it said can we raise this
type of money for to to for the bore? That
that's it, bro. They have locked down the bat, the
bat and ship. They have batten down the hatches. They're
they're not even letting their fans talk about it, which
(21:52):
is which which I think is garbage. But but I
pretending it's not there isn't gonna make it go away, right,
But but their top thread though coach Jonathan Smith's interview
with John Canzano.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
They don't want to believe it's happening to them, not
at all.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
No, Nope, nope, so it and this is the time
of year, like if if Jonathan Smith is going to
take a job, he's not gonna let it out until
after this week, until after the game, Like it won't
(22:36):
come out at all until after the game. But the
problem is, though, is that is that his team is
not going to feel the uh like, his team is
not going to feel the love that they need. Yeah
(23:02):
they yeah they are, Yeah they're They're not gonna feel
the love that they're supposed to feel and feel fully
invested in committed if their coach is not you see
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Yeah, yeah, I get it. I get it. I don't know.
I think I think we're gonna see. I mean, the
funny thing is we the PAC twelve was good enough
this year, and the schools that have been trending up
still don't necessarily have the resources to really protect anybody.
(23:46):
And so you know, it would not shock me if
Jonathan Smith was gone. It would not shock me if
Caitlin Debor was gone. It would definitely not shock me
if somebody came and got Jetfish. That's just that's just
the situation that we're in right now. I mean, shoot,
(24:06):
I know that he's well compensated, but Troy Taylor did
a couple of things this year where honestly, like if
it a more stable program, a more connected program, could
see what he's up to and realize, you know, we
don't need we don't need the results. We see the habits.
We believe the habits will get us the results. That's
(24:28):
always the craziest thing to me about these schools that
make these hires is it's not always the results that
you should be chasing, not always the big name that
you should be chasing. You should be looking for people
who are doing more with less. And that's why, and
that's why, you know, I look at Jetfish and to me,
the way in which he went one in eleven, not
(24:49):
being allowed to cut and replace players, the way that
Chip Kelly was, the way that Dion Sanders did, the
way that Lincoln Riley did, not being allowed to do that.
Going through that first year, playing some close games almost
you know, getting in Bowl contention in year two and
then this this year being a couple of plays away
from ten to one and actually being eight and three
(25:10):
and favored by double digits. You know, going into the
Territorial Cup, that's what you want. You want the habits.
You know, you want somebody like Jeff Fish. And if
eight and three is not good enough for your school
right now, you know you're you're going to go and
grab somebody else that maybe maybe isn't displaying that same
ability to build from the ground up. You're making a mistake.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
YEP, one hundred percent all right now. On to Chip Kelly.
Chip Kelly and UCLA beat up USC after rumors that
he was going to get fired. Their athletic director came
out prior to the game. It was like that was
highly inappropriate for people to say that, do you believe
Chip Kelly would be the coach of UCLA next season?
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Yes, I mean I've well, first of all, I've never
seen a coach do what Chip did and say like
why just ask my ad about it, and he said
that it was inaccurate and inappropriate. Love that you had
Casey Wasserman, major UCLA booster come out and be like, yeah,
(26:20):
this is definitely not happening.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, because and Wasserman writing him checks. So if anybody know,
if he get getting fired, Kate Casey Wasserman, he would
have just loan, not made a comment then to say
something that's not you know that he's got to back
down later, all right, And I agree with that. Now,
this last name, well actually second to last name, Dion Sanders,
(26:47):
people have thrown away around his name. I do not
believe he's leaving Colorado. That would mean he would have
to leave both of his sons there unless Shiloh has
graduated again, because Shiloh has transferred twice, and and Shaudor
just used up his transfer. So unless they got something
(27:09):
you know, grad transfer double grad transfer thing going, he
can't leave. So I think that that squashes that. And
Kubash is that and Nike's doing so much stuff with
Dion that I think it makes it impossible for him
to leave at least this upcoming year.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Agree with you, would not make sense for him to
leave it all. None of the jobs that are open
right now make a whole lot of sense for him. Anyway.
I think he could do some good things at Michigan State,
but I think Michigan State wants to hire somebody in
the interim that like is the most uninteresting person in
the world.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Well, yeah, true, if that makes sense. Hey, someoneever Matt
Ishbia suggests that's who they would be hiring, right.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Exactly, because he was he was down to fund the
entire mel Tucker contract. But I don't know, man, I
think that you know, a lot of people point to
Florida jobs and less I feel less and less like
Deon Sanders is going to go to the Southeast when
the time comes. Yes, I think Delon's future is probably
(28:24):
in the state of Texas. Yes, because that's where he
spent the most of his time, right, yep.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yep, Yeah, He's definitely gonna want to be somewhere a team.
He's a bit warmer.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
And so yeah, I think that his future is probably
you know, if Houston ever moves on from from Dana Holgerson,
if you know, TCU gets sick of Sunny Dike's the
way that cal did you know, because their raid only
(28:56):
gets you so far, or you know, if you know,
I think SMU's staff is is you know, going to
get picked off by somebody sometime soon. You know, I
think it would probably be an opening that would take
place in the future in the state of Texas. I
don't I don't see him leaving Colorado for at least
(29:21):
two years beyond this.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Yeah, yeah, I think he's there for at least a
little while. And you you think he's gonna leave Travis
Hunter too, No, right, no, exactly, all right, and then
the last coach is Jadfish. Jadfish over Arizona, who they
have two hundred they have They miscalculated apparently their budget
(29:46):
by two hundred and forty million dollars, and that means
that the being counters are going to be out about recruiting,
They're going to be out about every dollar that is spent.
They're talking about potentially cutting sports because they have so
many sports had it into the Big twelve, which I
hate the idea of that over money, but I do
(30:07):
wonder now apparently according to Arizona people, they'll tell you
that there's a different bucket of money for the head coaches,
but that then the athletic department. And I wonder if
Arizona has enough donors to be like, all right, bro,
we're gonna step Jed Fish up from two point eight
(30:27):
to five and a half six and a half million
dollars if they have enough for that.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Yeah, he doesn't make a lot.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
No, he's at two point eight.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Yeah, I mean he's gonna have to at least are
they they just they did recently extend him. I don't know, man,
where are they gonna get the money from. How are
they gonna justify making cuts? And I know that football
funds itself. I know this. You know this, yep. But
(31:05):
how are they going to justify it to the university
community while cutting things? It's hard enough to sneak that
through without people getting upset when you're when when you
know you can say, hey, this literally completely pays for itself,
you know, people will still say this is a public university.
There's there's there's still issues. What are you going to
(31:27):
do when when they go to the rowing team, they
go to the golf team and you know, and they're
they're taking stuff away? Yep.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
You ain't never lied about that, buddy, never lied about that.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
To be fair. Also, to be very clear here, I
don't think that Tucson has a rowing team. I just
use that as an example.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Hey, it might be doing crew and the crue in
a in a river out there or something in the canal. Yeah,
all right, on to the next thing now that we've
covered those coaches. So the PAC twelve Championship scenarios, there
are two scenarios. One Oregon plays well, Washington plays Oregon.
Number two Washington plays Arizona. So it would need Arizona
(32:15):
to win the Territorial Cup versus Arizona State, and for
Oregon State to beat Oregon. How likely do you think
that either one of those two things is to happen
or both of them.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
I don't I mentally, since about week six, I've been
prepared for Oregon in Washington and nothing else. My brain
is not even allowing me to entertain the possibility of
anything else happening. I think, I mean, I know we
do our picks later, but I think Oregon is going
(32:54):
to run through Oregon State.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
What I do with this Johnson Smith stuff coming up?
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Yeah, and I I want to believe, even though Washington
has played with fire quite a bit, that the Apple
Cups shouldn't even be in question.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Yeah, it shouldn't be. It should not be. However, Washington's
played way too many close games for me to just
feel just unequivocally, you know what, I mean like to
feel like I am, like I don't have any fear
(33:35):
about this.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
Oh yeah, and they're like one hundred and nineteenth and
passing yards against and like eighty third and overall defense
the defensive numbers. Like there's two stories being told here.
One Washington has played three of the best offenses in
the country, three of the top eighteen offenses in the country,
(33:57):
so many people can say that, right. And the other
part of it is they also just have not done
a good job. Some people say that their offensive style
lends the defense to just being on the field more.
I didn't believe it when USC fans were saying it,
and I don't necessarily believe it here. Only recently have
(34:21):
University of Washington's pass rushers been getting home. Only recently
they do look better, and you know, their defensive backs
had gotten toasted a little bit. And so I don't know,
I know what Washington State is capable of. Here's where
Washington State can't compete. They don't have the athletes. If
(34:45):
Washington went if Washington went into this game and they
were just like it's a Dylan Johnson game and they
just decided to be more physical. They're gonna run away
with it. But if they go in there try to
be themselves, play tight, you know. I do think they
should change things up and just put this game away.
I just don't know if because Michael Pennix is in
(35:07):
the middle of a Heisman race, there's pressure on them
to go in and look good. Yep, because now we
got eye test involved. They just barely, barely, barely jumped
Florida State. Florida State shifted on Florida. It's gonna matter
what Washington does against Washington State.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Washington should be in front of Florida State and Michigan
and maybe Ohio State if you put their resume. And
we talk about this on YouTube, so guys go to
the YouTube channel, go check it out. If Ohio State, Michigan,
(35:46):
Notre Dame USC, anybody had this resume that Washington has,
because nobody has a resume this good. And they say, oh,
they haven't look good. Hell, Michigan ain't look good. The
last couple of weeks and and before the last and
before the Pendstate game, they had not even played a
(36:09):
team that was ranked, not even not even in the
Ape pole at any point in time like that's not
ever ranked. They talk about Oregon or everybody Oregon beat
then then gets knocked out, like like they beat them
up and then all of a sudden they fall apart,
(36:30):
and then we're gonna sit up here and act. It's frustrating, bro,
it's frustrating. And you know how bad it has to
be for me to be making YouTube videos and videos
stamping for Washington. You know how bad it has to be.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
This is true, man, I just think it. If one
team is at risk this weekend, to me, it's Washington
just because they be pressing a little bit and they
played so many close games. But again, I can't I
can't entertain anything other than an Oregon Washington rematch. I
(37:14):
what do you think about the likelihood of any other scenario.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
I think that you have to handle your business that's
standing right and right in front of you before you
get to before you get to worry about other people's stuff,
because that's how you lose football games. And I do
and I do not want Oregon looking past them. Talk
to the coaches. Coaches said they had a good week
of practice and that the guys are focused, and honestly, Ralph,
(37:46):
that is all I care about at this point in time.
That is literally, all I care about is that those
dudes are focused on every single level. That is all
I care about. So yes, so, yes, I So that's
(38:06):
a long way or in a roundabout way to say
that that, yes, I do believe that there is a
possibility that there is a world that Oregon State wins
this football game, and I don't want to be a
part of that world.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Did you just threaten self harm?
Speaker 2 (38:25):
No? No, actually I did not. I'm just I'm just.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Saying, okay, I'm just making sure you were not on
here saying I don't want to be here anymore.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
No, No, that's not what I was saying anymore at all.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Checking on your people holiday season?
Speaker 2 (38:41):
All right, the college football playoff rankings came in. You
have where we just talked about. Washington moved up to four,
Oregon still at six. The next team is who Oregon
stayed at sixteen, They fell down five spots, and Arizona
is sitting at what seventeen?
Speaker 3 (39:03):
I believe? So yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
So and the part that made no sense to me
because you had the people on television. Oh man, see,
they're not giving the SEC the love that they normally
get because they normally give Bama the benefit of the doubt,
and I'm looking I'm looking at this Ralphin, I'm like,
what are you talking about? Fam, what are you talking about?
(39:27):
The SEC has the best, the highest ranked two loss
team in Missouri who they have put in front of
ten and one Louisville. Granted Louisville lost a pit but
if that were an SEC team, there's no way they
would be ranked in front of that. Missouri would be
ranked in front of them. Not a chance. They have
the highest ranked three loss team in LSU got their
(39:51):
quarterback is playing real well, defense is non existent. So
they're higher than Arizona and Oregon State. So yeah, Arizona's
fifth team, Oregon State of sixteen and instead of having
UCLA ranked which they should be ranked, the highest four
loss team is Tennessee at seven and four? Who got there?
(40:17):
Who got everything? Pushed in against Missouri thirty six to
seven and then against Georgia thirty eight to ten. And
we're sitting here like, yeah, hey, hey, that's still the
top ten team. That's I mean, the top twenty five team.
Absolutely not, no way know how make it stop?
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Yeah, I highest ranked, undefeated, highest ranked two lost, high
strength three loss, highest strength four loss all to SEC.
I mean, Clemson has a win over Notre Dame, do
they not Yep? And they can't even get above Tennessee.
It's crazy, Like, I don't the the whole reputational factor
(41:03):
of the SEC keeps working overtime and manifesting itself in
all these ways beyond just having the top teams in
the country and the potential to have two teams in
the playoff. Like, think about this. The overall strength of
schedule for the SEC is the lowest that it's been
since two thousand and five. It's not even close to
anywhere that it's been in the last ten years. Auburn
(41:26):
just lost to New Mexico State the opening. They opened
up one and four again in out of conference contests,
and I think by the end of the second week
they were five and seven. Like, this is not a
strong SEC slate. You've pointed out the fact that you
know that LSU has scored a lot of points and
(41:47):
given up a lot of points, And how does that
make them different than USC. I guess they do have
the win, the win over Missouri, but at the same time,
like every other good team that they've played against has
beaten them.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Yep. So you know, there there's no difference between LSU
and USC except for USC got beat down enough that
they quit. That's the only difference. So I don't think
that the Arizona and Oregon State are getting the credit
(42:21):
that they deserve. Oregon State fell fell down five spots,
like make it in a twenty two to twenty loss
to the number four team in the country. But Tennessee
only lost, only dropped down three spots after getting after
losing by like by sixty points in two weeks. Come on, man, oh,
(42:45):
but that was the number one and the number whatever
team in the I don't understand how that how that's
any different than number four fam But anyways, though, the
College Football Playoff going College Football Playoff, and we talked
about a scenario where what is the committee going to
do if you have thirteen and OH Washington thirteen and
(43:07):
OH Ohio State thirteen and oh Florida State and then
Alabama beats oh in twelve and one Texas who beat
Alabama and then twelve and one Alabama who beat Georgia
in the SEC Championship. Who are you putting in there?
Speaker 1 (43:27):
What?
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Sorry, who's the committee putting there? Because they're gonna be like,
we can't leave Georgia out. They ran the table in
the regular season.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
I have already had people spend the last day and
a half trying to explain to me why it would
be okay for them to take Alabama and not Texas,
and that you'd have more of a likelihood of Georgia
being a second SEC team in if they run at
number one the whole time, lose drop back to four.
(44:05):
You could have Alabama three, Georgia four, Texas five and out,
and Florida State thirteen and oh and out. Like I've
had people tell me that that's more than plausible.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
Man, throw all of this shit in the trash. If
that happens, bro, Bro, I promise you, I promise you
that if that happens, they will burn the They will
burn the college football playoff system down. They will burn
it down. Them folks from Texas not standing for that. Florida,
Florida State's trying to burn down the SEC. You don't
(44:40):
think they'll add another victim to the list. Well man, Anyways, though,
on to the next you have Oregon State and Washington State.
I feel bad for these two two teams, Ralph, They
I have no home this is gross. And I'm not
(45:04):
a person that feel sorry for a lot of people
because a lot of times your your choices put you
in the position that you're in. Like I can have
empathy for people without having sympathy. But this is a
situation that it's brutal.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
They're likely headed to play a The Apple Cup is
going to continue, Okay. They are trying to keep Oregon
Oregon State by with the Mountain West scheduling, by then
backing Oregon out of the Boise State game and then
putting Oregon State game in in one of the non
(45:43):
conference games early in the season.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Pois State's gonna let that happen.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Yes, that that that's the potential after they get the
scheduling thing done. But then, but then, I wonder, does
that turn into a by game for Oregon.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Then Oregon paying Oregon State. Yes, you can't do that.
It's already a by game. It's already a by game.
Judge made sure of it. Oregon's gonna leave money on
the table that they would have had otherwise, and it's
(46:21):
gonna go right to Oregon State.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Oh yeah, I ain't pay y'all. Damn, I ain't paying
them country boys. Nothing that's what I'm not doing, im.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
How do you think that? How do you think they're
gonna put together a full schedule?
Speaker 2 (46:33):
Are they if they don't get the Mountain West it's
it's it's yeah, Yeah, they're gonna, Yes, they're they're they're
gonna have to go tricking for dollars right now.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Do you think that includes a lot of FCS scheduling
or how do you think they they're gonna have to
use some of that two hundred million each to buy
people out of their game contracts.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
I think that it's gonna be that they're gonna get
added to the Mountain West scale to their conference schedule,
and that that'll make up for those games.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
But what will it count as a conference game or not? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (47:12):
Oh, I see what you're saying. That then they're they're
still only in a two team conference despite the scheduling agreement.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Yeah, damn.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
I don't think they care as long as they get
football games.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
What if they have like five slots they can't fill,
so they're just like, all right, we're running this five
straight weeks in a row of Washington Stayers of Groundhog's
Day best of five.
Speaker 2 (47:47):
BRU. That would be atrocious and then Washington State with
Dake dickerd They sound so pitiful. We played the clip
last week from or two weeks ago from it, and
they just sound so pittf for Ralph, they're like woe
is us?
Speaker 3 (48:04):
And you know.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
That based upon them having no TV, like they literally
have no TV contract. So that means that their games
are slated to play nowhere. You see what I'm saying
right that they will have it to if a tree
falls in the forest, like we're gonna be seeing grainy
video that's no different than like when like Utah Tech plays.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
You know, well, if that's the case, I'm just telling
people I won.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
So what's gonna happen to the roster? Because that's the
next thing is that that we're in recruiting season.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
We are a week in.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
How many days are we away? We are seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven,
like twelve days away from the transfer portal opening.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
That is going to be one of the wildest days
in college football history.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
Yeah, bruh, yep, it is going to go crazy. Mike
Elko came out and like, yo, yo, you better have
a strategy to keep your kids just telling you otherwise
they gon't they belong to the streets. Oh kind of
(49:24):
like your coaches. Oh okay, okay, So I feel no sympathy.
I feel sympathy for the fans because I know it's
frustrated with players come and leave and all that stuff.
I feel no sympathy for these coaches, though they pick
up and leave whenever they want to.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
They started this, yes, they started it, but they also
so many of them continue to agree with the NCAA
stance on amateurism while not having any problem whatsoever with
their slice of the pie growing exponentially year over.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Year yep, and taking a billion dollars on the way out.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
In nineteen ninety I want to say seven there was
one coach making seven figures. What spreer, Steve Sprier, that's it.
He was the first seven figure coach, and it happened
in the late nineties. The trajectory that we were on
(50:25):
from nineteen ninety seven to twenty seventeen, if it continues
to twenty thirty seven, then the highest paid coaches are
going to be making fifty million a year. That's the
trajector we were on in forty years, going from one
seven figure coach to the highest paid coaches making fifty million.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
Jeez, bro, that is insane. Insane coaches make brothers, No
way they can be King Kentuck, the.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
Head coach of Kentucky already makes over eight Kentucky football. Like,
what that's gonna be. That's gonna be the salary of
your of your like Boise states yeap in fifteen sixteen
years wants back and I'm gonna shut this show down
(51:22):
right now, go to a coaching clinic.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
Hey, bro, don't don't think I haven't thought about it,
because I've had opportunities, but I don't want to, you know,
have my family all jacked up and and everything. But
but uh, when the but when the next set of
kids get out of high school in five years and
it's just me, niece and Roman, Yeah, h we might
(51:48):
be on that train, Buddy, might be on that train.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
No, we might want to slow down on some of
the stuff we're saying out loud about some of these
coaches right now.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Then hey, listen, listen, truth truth sometimes, man, And we
don't attack the people. Lincoln Riley's probably gonna feel attacked.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
What's on the YouTube?
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Do you think he's gonna let us in a building?
Speaker 3 (52:10):
Nope, I don't think so. He doesn't even let student
reporters in the building when they write puff pieces about
his own players.
Speaker 2 (52:18):
Yeah, but it's not unfair though. It is anything that
we've said about people, where I've said about anybody hyperbolic
or or untrue or unfair.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
No. No, we're also not the type of people just
to be out here calling people soft, even though the
closest that we're probably gonna get to ever calling anybody
soft will be today.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
But I think there's a line that said he's generationally soft,
with uh.
Speaker 3 (52:53):
Generationally soft. He is generationally soft, man.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
So I was to Caleb Williams. Yeah, generating quarter.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
He's very good at what he does. He deserves his money,
he deserves his praise. But man, he is he is
absurdly like I can't even say, thin skinned, like afraid
of his own thinness of skin. Does that make sense?
Speaker 2 (53:25):
Yes, I understood.
Speaker 3 (53:26):
He doesn't even want to be in a situation to
have thin skin. Yep, what we call afraid of your
own shadow.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
All right, So quickly though, before we get into the games,
USC went seven and five, bro seven and five. Actually,
let's just start with the games there. USC played UCLA
lost thirty eight to ten, Ralph thirty let's give them damn.
(53:56):
That would have been a Listen. That game could have
been thirty eight to twenty if UCLA's offense had gotten
anything going after they went up fourteen zero, because they
had two or three possessions after that where they were
both times I think, and you see and you cla
usc territory did not score. So yeah, this was atrocious.
(54:21):
Caleb Williams three hundred and eighty four yards passing, including
one amazing throw which he flashes every single game, touchdown,
a nasty pick, and he lost a oh he did
not lose a fumble, but uh yeah, and he did
not fumble. But yeah, thirty eight to twenty, Ralph, this
team quit. They came with so yes, when they were
(54:46):
down fourteen to oh, they quit. It was that the
only reason why they got back into the game at
at fourteen ten at halftime was because UCLA was in
ept on offense and kept dropping balls and having penalties
and just couldn't run up the score. That was the
only reason.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
At that point. There's nothing like us. He's not playing
for anything. I don't understand why they didn't just run
a final play. I also definitely don't understand why they
down twenty eight to ten, Why they kicked a field
goal thinking they were going to score fifteen when they
hadn't done anything since the drive that led into the
second quarter. Can we at least can we at least
(55:30):
give Caleb Williams some praise? That seventy four yard touchdown
past to Brennan Rice was one of the sickest throws
catches I've seen all year, regardless of.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
Bro That was incredible. He was on the other hash
almost threw the ball off of one leg for a
dime outside the numbers on the other one, hit him
right right and stride Yea and then Brennan Rice.
Speaker 3 (55:59):
It was one of those moments where you realized just
how big Brandon Rice is. That like the defender tried
to tackle him and just slid off. Everything about it.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
He tried to tackle him prior to the ball getting there, And.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
You just have to ask yourself, like, man, if they
could do this, why are they getting destroyed?
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Like why has the offense he also had to run
around for six seconds too, that's allow that to happen.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
You know what's crazy is he has been sacked in
the last two years, I think sixty three times. Who
Caleb Williams. Damn. I was under the impression this dude
never got touched and it was mostly because of him,
the way that he moves around in the pocket. He's
sixty three times in the last two seasons, yep.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
And now some of that is his fault for holding
onto the ball a little bit. But this offensive line
has been leaky. Dude, I don't even.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
Like I.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
So you have Caleb Williams. How is what is the
trajectory of usc right right now? Because Miller Moss, no
matter how good he is for next year, or Malachi Nelson,
no matter how good he is next year, or whoever
you get out of the portal, however he good, good
he is next year, won't be as good as Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (57:27):
No, they will not. So at that quarterback. I don't
know if that quarterback exists in college football right now.
I with with both skill sets, kid out of Liberty
is pretty damn good.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
But like, yes, I wouldn't mind him in Eugene.
Speaker 3 (57:46):
Start the bidding war now. But like I, I, I
don't know. But there's there is no Caleb. There's no Caleb.
There's nobody that throws like him. There's nobody that runs
like him, and he does both. So you're you are
right about that. They they get these good offensive linemen,
they get the higher rated offensive linemen on the on
(58:07):
the West Coast and split them with Oregon or whatever.
But they get these highly rated offensive line system.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
They haven't been getting the highest rated recruits on the
West coast either.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
They got a couple of four stars in there, but
then they run put them in this air raid system
that doesn't develop their their talent level. We've heard NFL scouts,
NFL coaches talk about the fact that the teams that
are out here running an air raid like these old
linemen have to be re taught yep, when they when
they get to the NFL level, and so you know,
(58:42):
you you you were. At some point the receivers are
going to realize that we can't get seven four and
five stars on the field at the same time. So,
like if you're a guy like Dorian Singer and you
come over from Arizona, your production is going to get, uh,
it's going to shrink exponentially. Right, You're going to see
(59:03):
that they're not really getting the ball to tight ends.
They don't really hand the ball off in the way
that they should have getting Marshaun Lloyd over from South Carolina.
There's a lot of truths that are getting told right
now in this process that maybe La, maybe the quick
money is not the best thing for you.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
Well if that's the other thing is that according to
their boards and everything, their nil money is not where
other people think it is. And then you so so like,
here is the issue with their recruiting. First of all,
they got a six seven, two forty five tight End
out of Georgia, who's a high four star kid. He
(59:41):
is committed. What what the hell are you going to
do with a big tight end? First of all in
this air raid system. First thing, I don't even understand
why kids at tight end even want to come to
USC But I'm well into any air raid really, you've
forget you.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
Might get some numbers, but you're also going to go
into the NFL not being ready to do.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
To play tight end. Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
And you have Cameron Fountain who has been rumored to
so they have one edge player committed. He is projected
to flip. Cameron Fountain, He's a number eighty five in
the country according to two four seven. Then they have
a linebacker committed out of Connecticut, and they have one
(01:00:29):
other d lineman committed who's six three three zero five
out of Pennsylvania. And that is the extent of their
big person recruiting and one edge player, one defensive like
tackle kid and the edge players rumored to flip, and
a linebacker. That is all they have committed on the
(01:00:49):
defensive side.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Ralph, that's it because they think that they're going to
be able to depend on what they've done the last
couple of years, going out and getting Solomon at of Wyoming,
getting keyon Bars at Arizona. They like, they think they're
just gonna be able to do that every time, and
maybe they're right. Maybe they're right. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Well, last year in their in their class, they have
one edge player, one linebacker, one defensive lineman, two defensive linemen,
two edge players in the entire class.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
I don't know that. So the way that they recruit
defensively might change based on the coordinator that they bring in.
They trying to have a national approach like their Stanford
or Notre Dame or something that is not something that
the California high school coaches have enjoyed all that much.
I've noticed on the message boards and on on in
(01:01:46):
Twitter spaces and things like that. To a certain extent,
USC is allowed a level of arrogance that other teams
are not when things are working. Because when when things
are working, like if if if USC was eleven and
one right now and then it lose for their last
(01:02:07):
five games of the season, if they're eleven and one,
they can say boohoo to a high school coach. That
high school coach is best player still going to commit
to USC. The best, the three best Polynesian kids in
America are still going to commit to USC. The best
transfer prospects are still going to consider. You know, USC
(01:02:27):
if they're winning. If they're winning, then they have the
ability to write everybody off and say that you have
to exist on my level. They have that ability. Seven
and five they don't, especially after a bunch of years
of Clay Helton kind of trying to bend over backwards
to satisfy a lot of those criticisms. You know, they
(01:02:48):
wanted Lincoln Riley to come in, stop listening to a
bunch of outside voices and just bring back the swagger.
But when the outside voices were all unified in telling
you that your defensive coordinator is going to waste a
generational quarterbacks senior or final season in college football, and
you end up letting him go and admitting that he's right,
in the same way that Mike Tomlin had to had
(01:03:10):
to listen to people ask him if he was going
to fire Matt Canada for ten weeks in a row,
and then it stings. It stings to go out and
do the thing that the people that you are telling
every single week they don't know what they're talking about.
They when when you finally are the last one to
the party on those issues, it's very very humbling.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Uh. So you know it'll be interesting to see if
Lincoln Riley's approach changes. But they got to build. They
gotta build. They can't just collect. Like the same message
goes out to Dion Sanders, you have to be able
to build, like with somebody, please go talk to Jetfish,
for the love of God, go talk to the man.
Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
You have to build you have, especially when you're headed
into the Big ten. But listen, they will, they will
get the message at some point point in time. Are
you surprised about Well, actually, let's go to U c
l A. How is your what what are your thoughts
(01:04:11):
about them and their future after you saw this game,
knowing that their coaches back, but they're the guy that's
supposed to be the future at quarterback may be on
the way out transferring.
Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
I think they'll survive that one. That one won't be.
I think the the biggest effect of losing Dante more
off your roster, which is the worst kept secret in
the world, that he's gone, the is gonna be will
another five star considered coming in? And that that remains
(01:04:50):
to be seen? Right? That was kind of dumb luck
for U c l A anyway, because Kenny Dillingham had
left to take the Arizona State job, which is what
caused Dante Moore to leave his commitment to the Ducks
and go to UCLA. Ethan Garber's is a transfer quarterback.
(01:05:11):
They took in Colin Schlee as a transfer quarterback. It
doesn't seem to me like Chip Kelly is interested in
going the freshman route unless it's somebody who is an
absolute potential game changer like Dante Morre. And I don't
know if anybody likes them like that, So, you know,
(01:05:33):
I don't think that Dante mor Thing is gonna hurt
that bad because it's not like he was the one
that propelled them to the level of success that they
had this year. And I also don't think the losses
that they took were necessarily his fault. What is going
to be what is going to be interesting is if
(01:05:54):
it becomes abundantly clear going into next year. Let's say
Ethan Garber stays and he leads them into Big ten competition.
What's going to be abundantly clear is if they open
up like one in four or something and Martin Jarman
ruined his opportunity and any goodwill that was given to
him based on Brune Report online floating that he was
(01:06:16):
going to fire Chip Kelly to get this process done immediately. Yeah,
maybe this isn't a coaching Maybe it is all Wasserman
saying like, you know, I'm not gonna support you making
that change. Maybe it's being driven at the highest level
by one of the top boosters. But UCLA hasn't really
done anything to justify Chip Kelly getting reinvested in. Yeah,
(01:06:39):
so it feels like we're just crossing our fingers and
hoping he'll be good in the Big Ten.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, but they have gotten the defense fixed.
So that is that is half the battle, buddy, that
is absolutely half the battle. Now on to the next
game that we had this weekend, Washington Oregon State twenty
two to twenty. The Beavers had every opportunity to win
(01:07:07):
this game, Ralph, every opportunity to win this game. The
weather was a great factor, so they couldn't throw it
at the level that they wanted to that Washington wanted
to throw it. They had every opportunity. Martinez kept getting
tripped up at the last tackler. You had a couple
of misthrows, a couple of miss catches, oh man, a
(01:07:29):
dropped interception. They had opportunities and they blew it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
Do you think Washington fans just like slept puckered up?
They better had Like I can you imagine being a
Washington fan.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
I don't want to live under that kind of stress, living.
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
Through that second half, living through that second half, and
then just having to go to bed. You can't go.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Straight to sleep unless you drink yourself to sleep during
during that would yourself where you smoked yourself to sleep.
That's the only way.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
They're living that Kansas City Chiefs life just let's see,
let's see what happens if we don't score in the
second half. I liked some of your takeaways from this game.
I think this receiving core is We're gonna be thinking
about it for a long time, Like how did they
(01:08:26):
get all that talent in the building at the same
time with that quarterback? Like this, this is a legendary,
legendary offense. And then yeah, like I said, their pass
rush is starting to figure things out the last couple
of weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Yeah, they still don't get a ton of like they
feel like a timely defense, not a good defense.
Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
Yeah, I'll agree with that. They're not a good defense.
I mean, by any measurement, by any metric, they're not
a good defense. The only way that you can say
that they have a good defense is if you have
that Mike D'Antoni mentality of the team that's defense exactly. Like,
that's the only way that you can that you can
(01:09:16):
say that this Washington defense is good. They're barely average.
Where where I consistently worry about them is, you know,
if they're not able to get quarterback pressures. You're talking
about going up against Oregon again, a team that has
allowed less pressures than anyone yep so, and it just
(01:09:40):
makes me think because the team or the other team
that's so incredible at just getting the ball out, Michael
Pennix never takes sex. Ever. I imagine that practices are
pretty difficult on that defense because they you know, they
they aren't getting home in pass rush anyway, and Washington
plays in a way that they don't let you even
(01:10:01):
get to the quarterbacks. It's not like you're even experiencing
success Tuesday through Tuesday through uh Friday in practice. I think,
I don't know. I think that if you're Oregon State fan,
you got to be kind of frustrated because the opportunities
were there, But you do have to admit that you are.
(01:10:25):
You are a little bit behind. Your deficiencies have been
pretty clear all year. I do. I would like to
hear from some more Oregon State fans about how they
feel going in next year with DJU. Are you comfortable
to just have this DJU Aiden Chiles combo platter, No, no, no.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
No, because that won't work for next year. I'm telling
you on on either side, because Aiden's going to demand
more reps and DJ is not gonna want to give
up reps. So so some something got to give in
that situation.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
So what's the answer is that aidenh I was finding
a new home.
Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
Wherever. Yeah, him finding a new home wherever Josh Jonathan
Smith is next year.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
That'd be imagine Jonathan Smith walking into a room with
with Aiden Child's and DJ and be like, hey, you know,
I couldn't pass up this opportunity. DJ has been a
pleasure to be your coach. Eight and your bags are
in the car.
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
A game that we were disappointed was on Pack twelve network,
actually was perfect that it was on Pack twelve network.
Arizona Well, Utah at Arizona forty two to eighteen Ralph.
It was twenty eight to seven at halftime, and at
that point in time, I don't even think Utah had
turned the ball over yet. They just beat them up
(01:11:55):
and down the field. Now, are you ready to admit
what what I told you about? Noah Noah Flafida.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
You asked me that every week and I say yes
every week, and I'm starting to feel like your short
memory is intentional. I'm living Groundhog Day of Mia Copa's
on this And for anybody who just started listening, I
don't know how many people we have just jumping in
mid season if you just started listening to Pac twelve apostles.
I don't hate Noah fa Fida. I've always thought he
(01:12:28):
was the better quarterback. I just am of the mind
that losing your job due to injury is still some
type of taboo that some coaches adhere to, and Jetfish
kept pretending like that was the type of person that
he was due.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
It was gonna be a mutiny if he started Jaden
Delora again.
Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
Yeah, And I you know, and Jayden DeLaura is not
a terrible quarterback. He's just turned over prone, yep. And
Noah Fafda has eliminated a lot of those mistakes. And
he's playing with his high school teammate team AX, several
of his high school teammates actually, and uh yeah, I
mean it's just a it's it's it's a good it's
a good mix. It didn't help in this game that,
(01:13:11):
like right before kickoff they were like, hey, Cole Bishop
and basically every Utah defender is not.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
The tacklers second leading tackler.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
Yeah, I tweeted immediately. I was like, oh god, hit,
you might want to put the rent on the over
in this game, which almost didn't hit by the way.
Made me a little nervous, But uh yeah. So what
what I didn't love about this game is that Utah
actually let the circumstance dictate their offensive game plan. So
(01:13:45):
they let the fact that they got down fourteen to
nothing right away.
Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
Yeah, because they threw the ball fifty three times with
Brighton parns that that is not a winning strategy.
Speaker 3 (01:13:53):
I wouldn't have thrown the ball once. I would have
been playing defense with my offense, bro, you know, and
so I I this was a shocking inability to adjust
Ah or be patient. I guess by by Utah staff
(01:14:15):
that blew me away. I did not like the the
strategy in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
They might need to reevaluate their strength and conditioning program
because they've been having a lot of injuries, bro over
the last couple of seasons.
Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Maybe they they run out of gas at the end
of the season. I remember when Michael Bernard was having
to play running back and corner a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
What I'm saying is too, it's there's something that ain't
matching in these scenarios. But shout out to Arizona, Shout
out to Jed Fish, who we've talked about already. I
think that no matter what happens in the Territorial Cup,
he's the coach of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:14:54):
I agree with you, it is It is fascinating the
amount of people that I would not think would be
on board with Jedfish, just random fans you know of Michigan,
State of Texas, A and M that would actually be
on board with bringing him on.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Yep, now on to cal Stanford. I'm gonna be honest, Ralph,
I did not watch this game.
Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
This is the first game of the entire season that
I also did not watch first one. This is the
first one I missed probably eight nine games last year.
I had a one week where I just didn't even
record anything, But for the most part, I try to
(01:15:49):
consume all of them. This game was to keep col
Bull hopes alive, correct last ever broadcast by the PAC
twelve network. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was
their last game ever. Okay, so I recorded it, didn't
(01:16:11):
watch it, watched some highlights afterward. I continue to be
a Fernando Mendoza fan. You know what would break my heart,
I like you, if if he went into the portal
that would that would suck so bad. Yeah, because I
I kind of feel like he's a product of the
(01:16:36):
of Jake Spavatol a little bit. He I mean he's good, right,
but I kind of feel like he's a little bit
of a product of Jake Spavaittol. He still got a
lot to learn. He had a cool interview this week
with Yogi Roth. We heard the stories of him walking
around to the tailgates and introducing himself. I just and
he I mean, he already had the opportunity to leave
(01:16:57):
Cal and didn't. I would it would It would bum
me out so bad, so bad. If if if he
was somebody that looked uh to make the jump, because
I mean, you got, you got. He's playing like twenty
five hundred miles from home. Yeah, like he's from Miami.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Yeah, so you know this is I think he's gonna
be looking for a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Well, he's gonna he's gonna be making some A sec
trips this year. Maybe he knew, maybe he had the foresight.
I'm gonna be playing closer to home.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Yeah Yeah, y'all ain't gonna recruit me, Okay, cool.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Yeah, Cal's headquarters are in Charlotte now, But yeah, I
I don't know. I just I really like Fernando Mendoza.
I hope that he sticks it out. Do you think
there's any whispers or anything at all about the possibility
(01:17:58):
of five and seven meaning the end of the Willcox era?
Do you even think it's financially nossible?
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
No? No, No, I think they give him another shot.
I do. I don't know if there's another solution financially,
because they got to keep making the right financial decisions.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Do you think that this could end up being like
a Northwestern situation.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
Oh, where the backup where like you d up with
Peter Sermon as the coach or something.
Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
No, not necessarily that, more like before, like it would
take a it would take a hazing scandal to get
Willcox out. They'll be fine with five and seven three
years in a row if you throw one to nine
and four.
Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
Oh, I see what you're saying. Yes, because it feel
feels like they're in survival mode right now. They're getting
subsidized partially by U C l A. Yeah. Yeah, I
think at some point in time they will want to
go back and win after their money gets right.
Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Yeah, I what about what could we see Jadeen ought
test the waters? I would not be surprised at that
even touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
I wouldn't. I would not mind seeing Jade not in Eugene.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
You wouldn't mind a good player playing for the college
you went to.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
No way, No, No, I wouldn't. Yeah, I would not. Yeah,
that wouldn't bother me at all. I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
It wouldn't bother you for your life to improve. No,
that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Yeah, hey man, it's funny. It's funny how that works. Funny.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
But I do I do wonder because we did see
a lot of people hop into the portal from portal
from cal last year. They were obviously very dissatisfied with
something that was happening up there. Correct, And we've seen
some of those go on. You know, I think Ben
Coleman shocked a lot of people jumping into the portal.
I think that uh Jack Plumber being the quarterback of
(01:20:29):
a ten and one team right now is not something
that a lot of people saw coming, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
No, of course not. They were like, oh he was,
but but he got beat to hell last year? So
what could what more could you have expected out of him?
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
I mean he's essentially having doing what Sam Howell is
doing for the Washington Commanders right now, he's take taking
a beat and being all.
Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
Right, do you have any any thoughts at all on
Troy Taylor?
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
I am unsure. I believe that he's clearly a competent
coach who could get a team to going in the
right direction. He can get people to believe like he's
got some real coaching in tangibles. Problem is getting the
talent that you need into Stanford and retaining your players,
(01:21:28):
and also getting players out of the portal to plug
holes and keeping them for their fifth year, which is important.
So if they can fix those changes in the institutional philosophy,
then yeah, I do believe that they can have a
lot of success.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
They're still going to get six or seven players a
year that nobody else could get. But how do they
keep their own players from capitalizing on like like I
am an ore you know, if someone decided he was
worth a million bucks, how do they stop him from leaving?
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
Yeah, that's a good question. Oregon States ad just put
out in a statement that said that him and coach
Smith have had ongoing conversations for more than a month
regarding his future at Oregon State. In their path for
per foot for football specifically, and our athletic department generally.
(01:22:32):
He's embraced our short and long term plans. That sounds
like somebody's trying to keep him here. My number one
priority is providing him with a new contract and guarantee
compensation that will help continue the success of the football
program that has benefited Oregon State University and the and
the Beavers, Beaver's athletics.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
I don't feel good about that because you only have
to do that if there's a reason to do that.
You only have to make this statement, if there's a
reason to make this statement. And now you can at
least say like, hey, we're trying. This is crazy. Though
he's one year deep into his extension, he is locked
up through twenty twenty nine. You don't give him a
(01:23:18):
raise right here unless there's you gave him a raise.
It already happened. So you don't do this unless there's
wolves at the door.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
Exactly there and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
There are by the way, like there are definitely wolves
at the door. Jonathan Smith, would it be it? Would
it be? Okay? So if Jonathan Smith turns down another
school to stay at Oregon State, knowing the future is uncertain,
but knowing that his paycheck is guaranteed. Would you respect
(01:23:53):
that or would you feel like he made a mistake.
Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
I would say he made a mistake unless Oregon's State
can find a path forward, if they can present him
with a plan that makes sense, I think they're fine.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
But the any plan right now is just trust me,
bro right.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
Yes, yep, yep, Because I don't think it's about the
money for Jonathan Smith. I think it's about the opportunity,
and Oregon State may not be able to provide that opportunity,
which is a significant problem. Now on to the next
(01:24:37):
game we had Oregon and Arizona State. Now, Ralph, you're
probably happy about this, but then frustrated because you're probably like, Bro,
what's up?
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
Have we just played how we played in the second half?
Because we outscored Oregon in the second half, we could
have won this football game which I was forty nine
to thirteen.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Are you talking about how the team that you root
for lost two consecutive quarters to the team that I
root for and nothing happened after that? And I don't
remember what happened before it. I don't know why my
memory is so hazy about that first half. Could I
(01:25:25):
could it be that I had a six pack of
touchdowns down on my head.
Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Dude, Bo Niggs had like, what you have three hundred
and fifty yards something like that halftime and six touchdowns
and he should have had a seventh it's not for
a bogus pass interference call. And then and then they
took him out of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:25:45):
And yeah, it's so funny to throw for three hundred
and fifty yards in one half. I remember Matt Liinert
did it one time to the Green Bay Packers in
an Arizona Cardinals preseason gave me through for three point
fifty in one half, and it was one of the
funniest things I've ever seen, not as funny when it's
happening to you. There was that tight end screen that
(01:26:09):
had several three hundred pound players twenty five yards down
the field, Yeah, clearing out Row Torrents and Jordan Clark
getting pushed into the sideline. That was And I think
it was probably right after that where you tweeted that like, hey,
one team looks a lot bigger and faster yea than
the other team. That was about the point where I
was like, oh man, these are some dudes, And I
(01:26:31):
knew that and it backed up everything that I had
said going in. None of this is a surprise to anybody.
What I am finding that I do not enjoy about
Dan Lanning, which came up again this week, is there
is no there's nothing in him that doesn't take joy
(01:26:53):
in beating up his friends. Yes, like he he said that,
he was like, right, yeah, man, he said it again
this week.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Yeah, it's like beating up your little brother.
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
He's he said it again this week that he said,
what do you tell mateo about going out there and
having to pass rush his brother? And Dan Lanning's response
was I told him to go hit his brother.
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Yeah, not gonna go hit his brother. I don't think
he's gonna try. Obviously he's not gonna try to hurt
his brother. But but if he gets a chance to
lay one on DJ. You don't think he's gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
On big Bro for sure, But for your coach to
not even be like, yeah, I know how that can
be tough, Like he's not like, no, go hit him
as hard as.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
You as possibly against, as hard as you positively get.
Speaker 3 (01:27:46):
Dan Lanning is treating real life situations like like friends
treat fantasy football, right, Like he.
Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Said like, I'm ready to I'm ready to crush you.
I'm ready to crush you. So was there anything positive
from this to take out an Arizona State Because they
came out trying to swinging gate again, running the option
with Jaydon Conyers and and Scataboo, and I was like,
this is not gonna work.
Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
I would say that, Uh, there were the if anything
good for Arizona State. There were a lot of Oregon
fans in the stands a lot. So thank you for
your donation to Arizona State Athletic department. We appreciate you.
(01:28:34):
Relative health. They'll get to Carlos Brooks back next week,
and they seem to not be competitive in games. He's
not in. No, it's not great. Bonnick's had more touchdown
passes in You said the gaff.
Speaker 2 (01:28:50):
To Carlos Brooks back next week.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
The ASU's quarterbacks have thrown all year.
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Yeah, that was bad. Oh is Rashada coming back this week?
Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
I believe he will get some reps in the Territorial Cup.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
Yes, can't wait to see it. All Right, last game
and the reason why I left this for the last game,
even though it was the first game, because this was
the bloodiest of them all. Washington State finally got another win.
They sacrificed Colorado fifty six to fourteen. Shadoor Sanders left
(01:29:31):
the game. I was surprised that he made it to
this point in the season. He's in absolute shambles. Bro
His body is in shambles. He's a broken man.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
There.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
There is no like Dion sick right now, like he
had the flu. Look miserable after the game like they
like they He flew out separate from the team. That's
how sick.
Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
He was.
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
Sure Door had to leave the game. They brought in
Ryan Stopped. He got beat the hell out of five
from fourteen for fifty six yards. Then they brought in
a walk on Gavin klud He, Oh, he was bad too.
They couldn't run the ball, even though they ran forty
one times for ninety one yards for two point two
(01:30:24):
yards to carry. He couldn't trying to.
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
Get out of there. He's trying to get him out
of there. That's why they were running. They were literally
running down the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
And you had.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Cam Ward do his audition for Oregon because no, for real,
he's auditioning. So it was the kid from Liberty and
a couple other kids as well, because they're going to
try to bring them in the in the transfer portal,
(01:30:57):
and this was a hate win for.
Speaker 3 (01:30:59):
Sake, part delusion, part in fact.
Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
What what's delusional about it?
Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
Well, that's my problem is it sounds delusional on the surface,
but I know that there's enough truth to to to
the possibility of Oregon bringing in some serious talent through
the portal that it's I just got to kind of
let you talk. But I do want to point out
that to the listener, this is going to hit their
ear a little funny. Do you not get that? It's obnoxious?
(01:31:32):
There are eleven other teams in the fact twelve, Well,
all right, so we need.
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
Some players too, Okay, So I'm just I'm just saying,
is that okay, So Washington State's going to try to
retain cam Ward. Maybe Washington tries to get cam cam Ward.
That could that could be an option too, Yeah, definitely
an option. Cal you know, it's a lot of options.
Speaker 3 (01:32:02):
Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm I get it, I get it.
It's just every every time we talked about a good
player this week, now the closer we get to December fourth,
every time we talked about a good player you're like,
I would love to see them in yellow and green,
and knowing that it's actually possible that it could happen
is quite frustrating.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
And yeah, this game was that there was nothing positive
to take from this from if you were in Colorado.
Nothing nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Yeah, they're they're toast. This is kind of it's a
mix of who you thought they'd be and who I
thought they'd be. Right Like, I said the most entertaining
and talked about two win team of all time. You
said between four and six wins.
Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
But.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
They were not going to be able to play defense
or run the ball all year. Yep, And that's kind
of what it is. I again, I still believe. I
still believe. Don't let the downward momentum trick you. They've
had a couple of players de commit and kind of
be vocal about it, and Deon Sanders did come out
and say we're not going to pay for anybody and
we're not going to let people hold us financially hostage.
(01:33:20):
You either want to come play for me or you don't.
I love the confidence. We'll see how much it lines
up with reality. But I do think they're going to
get some very very good players this offseason.
Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
I think I still believe that's that's what it sounds
like someday.
Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
You Indan, I don't think Chador's leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:33:40):
I don't think is leaving either. I think he's going
to do his dad a solid and position himself to
be the number one pick for next year.
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Do you think that's smart? Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:33:53):
Yes, if they can get an offensive line.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Hell yeah, even though you think he'd probably be a
first round pick this year. Yeah, still still okay.
Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
It would be questionable. It would be if he has
a first round pick. It'd be close, though, it'd be
very very close, all right, he uh no, go on, I.
Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
Was just gonna say, like I was gonna run through
and do some pro comps. But like Bo's got a
little bit of Drew Brees and him and and uh
and shoulders, got a little bit of Jamis and not
and like I think people think of Jamis differently than
him being the number one pick that threw for four
thousand yards as a as a rookie. You know, but
(01:34:37):
I'm I'm I'm talking about like when Jamis came out
of Florida State, Jamis he that's in there.
Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Yeah yeah, well uh we no, no, no, I'm not
giving him Jamis. Jamis was making risky throws in college
and he was a turnover machine in college, so I
I can't give you that.
Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
He does protect the ball more, but it includes taking
a lot of sacks. So is he done for? Is
he done? Is he gonna play against Utah? Is either
team gonna be able to field a roster because Kyle
Whittingham came out and said everybody's got the flu?
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Sheesh, well we shall we shall see. I think that
they're going to try to get another win because there
may not be enough Bowl eligible teams. And if you
don't think that teams are gonna want to take Colorado
in a bowl game, oh bro, they needed that. That
Stanford win crippled them because now they're in a must
(01:35:42):
win situation.
Speaker 3 (01:35:49):
Do you need a break?
Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
Oh no, No, I'm good now? All right, So let's
finish up with the with the picks for next week?
Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
We have we have this week?
Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
First game is on Friday Friday at five thirty pm.
Oregon State, who's.
Speaker 3 (01:36:16):
On a.
Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Is traveling down to Eugene. They are fourteen point underdogs,
sixty two and a half over under. Who you got, Ralph.
Speaker 3 (01:36:31):
God? I still hate Friday games. It doesn't matter how
late in the season it is.
Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
You know what the right answer is, Ralph, Yeah, I
mean it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
The line moved a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Yes, Yeah, because it started out at eleven and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
So I mean I I'm pretty confident that Oregon States
defensive backs aren't gonna be able to do anything in
the same way that Arizona State's defensive backs weren't able
to do anything. It's just a matter of how much
is Oregon State gonna score? And I think this is
(01:37:21):
gonna be bad, George, I think it's gonna be bad.
I think I'm thinking like forty to fifteen level, But
that still hits the under. So I'll say I'll say
ducks in the under. I took I got all overs
last week.
Speaker 2 (01:37:34):
I got ducks in the under. Two buddy Ducks in
the under. Yeah. Yeah, this is not going over sixty
two and a half, and the less Oregon scores forty nine,
you got Colorado Utah. Utah's favored by twenty two point
fifty two and a half over under. That sort of
(01:37:55):
line suggests that Shader Sanders may not be playing.
Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
Right because there would be money on Colorado regardless, But
you know what's Utah going to be able to do.
I'll go with the under. Three touchdowns is crazy to
me based on what we just saw, but I think
(01:38:21):
I think that Utah is gonna be playing with a
little bit of hate in their heart here for the
you know the last PAC twelve version of this fake rivalry.
Give me Utah by twenty four. Utah by twenty five
will say thirty five to ten, So that will hit
(01:38:42):
the under and yeah, I'll take I'll take the utes.
Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
Okay, So I am I hit a little Google machine.
It is unknown if he will play in the game
or not. Now if Utah's if Utah has a bunch
of defensive players out, so I'm I'm I'm gonna have
to hedge this one, Ralph, Okay that if Shadeer Sanders plays,
(01:39:09):
I'm going to take Colorado and the over. If if
he does not play, I'm taking Utah and the under
because Colorado won't score. Won't score, wow, okay, or a
few field goals or a loan late touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:39:31):
Yeah, then you did the should reveal to go to
Dion and really up the price on doing his data solid.
Speaker 2 (01:39:39):
Next you'll be like yesterday's prices is not today's prices,
all right. Arizona Arizona State Territorial Cup Arizona favor by
ten and a half. Favored by ten and a half points.
As an ad comes up, who do you have in
(01:40:03):
this game? Over under fifty and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
Let's go with the under. I'm sensing a theme and
this is a heart pick. It's a heart pick. In Tempe,
Jedfish's last game, question Mark de Carlos Brooks is back.
(01:40:30):
I'm taking Arizona State to cover, but I do think
it will be in the twenties. Both teams in the twenties,
So I don't like the I don't like the over.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
I'm riding with you, buddy, Arizona State and the under.
I think that the Jedfish rumors are going to start
some drama over there, and teams get weird when when
their coaches are you know, things are going on. That's
what's happening in the Oregon Oregon State game. Don't be
surprised if that one gets a little lumpy at times
(01:41:03):
because of that. Washington State Washington over under sixty eight
and a half, Washington favored by sixteen and a half.
I'll start this off by taking Washington State and the over,
even though I believe Washington's gonna win this game.
Speaker 3 (01:41:23):
Wow, So you think it's gonna be points all over
the place. Huh?
Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Yes, yes, and Washington State is either going to pull
a serious upset or close to it or back door cover.
Speaker 3 (01:41:36):
Yeah. I guess who is the real Washington State? Is
it the team that went single digits against Arizona and
Stanford or is it the team that dropped thirty nine
in a loss at Cal and fifty six against Colorado.
(01:41:57):
Some of that was damaged done on defense and also
shout out to Washington State for doing the Chadure watch
thing after like every touchdown six times in the first half. Yes,
give me the under and I will ride with you
(01:42:19):
and take Washington State. But again, I think maybe fifteen
point game. I'm not. I still think it's going to
be two scores in favor of in favor of Washington.
But I don't think that Washington State has the ability
to score like that. They have again, two single digit
output games in which they had their pretty much their
(01:42:39):
whole offense healthy. Washington's defense can do what Stanford or
Arizona's did, right, I mean, I gotta believe that, So
I want to believe it so that you know Washington
actually represents well and doesn't lose the number four spot
that they just gained. So give me Washington State. I
still think it's a two score win and I'll take
(01:43:01):
the under.
Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Next game up
Notre Dame Stanford. Notre Dame's favored by twenty six points
over under fifty one and a half. Not a chance
in hell Notre Dame covers this, no chance route.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
I'm with you. I want to say the last PAC
twelve regular season non conference game ever. Want to say
it's a hard pick too, but I absolutely believe it.
I think Stanford's going to cover just because I think that.
Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
You know, Notre Dames the offense isn't that good and at.
Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
Twenty four to three, I think Notre Dame would take
the rest of the day off.
Speaker 2 (01:43:45):
Yeah, yes, exactly, Yeah, this is this is this will
either be some sort of backdoor cover or it'll just
be like a sixteen point win, seventeen point win. It
ain't getting a twenty, it ain't getting the four scores.
Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
Just tell you.
Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
Over under fifty one and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
Under, Yes, absolutely, I think I went, I went all
overs last week, all unders this week.
Speaker 2 (01:44:14):
Yep, Cal Ucla. Cal is trying to get bowl eligible.
Ucla is favored by nine points over under fifty one
and a half. Remember, Cal's defense can't stop a nosebley.
UCLA's defense is tough as nails.
Speaker 3 (01:44:30):
So is this technically a bygate, Yes, yes it is.
This is the Calimony Bowl, Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
Yes, yes, Cal is taking calamony, alimony, child's port, or
whatever you want to call it from UCLA.
Speaker 3 (01:44:48):
You can't. You can't pay Cal have them beat you
and then get to go cash a bull check. You can't.
You can't do that if you're UCLA. But nine points,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
They believe in their defense, that's what they do. I
am going to buy Ucla in this one because I
do believe that their defense will be able to get stops.
Jay Not will not be running the ball on them
the same way that he didn't run the ball on Oregon,
and then Mendoza is gonna have to beat you with
his arm. But that pass rush is wicket. Lat Two's
(01:45:24):
a I mean, dude, if you just put a single
cam on Latu, who is the defensive player of the
year in the PAC twelve. But we will give out
awards next week. But it's but it's him. Uh yeah,
So give me Ucla and give me the under.
Speaker 3 (01:45:45):
Okay, I'm gonna take cal in this one, believe it
or not, because the last two home performances for UCLA,
scoring twenty eight on Colorado and seven against ASU, the
Rose Bowl doesn't matter at all to them. They don't
(01:46:05):
accomplish anything by winning this game. The athletes, they don't
care about the calimony that's fun for us. They don't
care about that. There's no extra motivation there. UCLA is
still on that quarter system, so they don't even get vacation. Yeah,
(01:46:30):
I'm I'm gonna. I'm gonna go with and Thanksgiving right
For some reason, the road teams that didn't get to
hang out with their families always seemed to fare better
after Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (01:46:45):
So and now for our contest. So Ralph is up
eleven to ten because I took Caleb Williams last week,
who had three hundred and eighty four yards, a touchdown
and a pick, but one of the greatest performance because
they lost only scored twenty points, and he had Troy
Franklin who had multiple touchdowns killed Arizona State. So he's
(01:47:08):
up eleven to ten. And this week he and Ralph
is taking Jaquindin Jackson running back from Utah and I
am taking TJ. Harden running back from UCLA. I need
this win and so uh yeah, you guys, this has
packed twelve apostles. I'm George Rice or he's Ralph amas
In peace out, catch you guys later
