Speaker 1 (00:01):
Gambling was something that I did. This is Dan Patrick
takes a gamble. One of my bookies died at the
Kitchen Table, a podcast vehicle for Dan to talk about
his love of gambling. One bet, another bet, another bet
without doing the actual gambling. You're a coward.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
It's easy to have a scapegoat and now joined by
bad Larry, Shayan Irving and Dylan the graphics guy.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
I have friends. Here's Dan Patrick.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Hey Larry, Hello, guys, what's up?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
How you doing doing good? You kind of mailed it
in last week. I didn't think you were really with us.
We got to get this well, we got to get
a zoom. You got to do zoom moving forward. Okay,
we're gonna have to figure no way he'll be able.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
To figure out you were going to send me that.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
We got to figure that out, right.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
So I was in Mississippi. Wherever I was, I was
in a rent a car, and I had my phone
connected for the directions, and somehow I can't even blame
it on Ray, although I'd like to. I could hear you, guys,
So you guys couldn't hear me. So afterwards, my sister
in law said, Larry, you had your phone on mute.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Oh my god, because I talked.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
To you earlier. So we had talked and then my
phone went dead somehow. But I heard your whole I
heard the whole show.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Did you hear us say fuck Larry at the bury end?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I did not hear that. But then I texted Ray,
I say, Ray, this, should you know? It's fucking frustrating
when I'm talking you guys can't hear me, or even
when we're in the middle of a conversation. If I
want to say something and you guys don't know. I'm
talking to the third world country studio all the time. Right,
Why don't you take my place? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
The brakes there?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Wait? Did you just did you just quit?
Speaker 3 (01:59):
I'm I offered it to Ray last week.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
What this is news to me?
Speaker 5 (02:04):
I didn't ask for it.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Just what the fuck is going on?
Speaker 1 (02:07):
I'll take it, Sammy p just happens to be in studio.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Sammy take my spot?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Please?
Speaker 6 (02:14):
Well, I know we all catch the first to five bet, right, Shay,
first five appearances between me and you, Larry, you weren't
even close.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
That's true about the bet?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Are you kidding?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
In studio?
Speaker 3 (02:27):
I met I've only done been in studio once, right, Yeah, I've.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Been five now, that's why I won the race to five.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
That's the bet.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Oh yeah, I didn't know that was a bet, but yeah,
you won that easily.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
So bad and Larry retiring.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Please take it the rest of the.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
Way now he's better than those days.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Okay, Larry did I'm not getting fired?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I quit?
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
How many no show jobs does he really have?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, Larry, you don't have anything going on.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
I know, but from natural football season. The podcast is
not about sports, is what We're gonna bet the baseball
We're gonna bet the Mets they suck.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Well, no, no, no, we'll we'll take some time off.
But it feels like if you're quitting now, then you're
quitting period. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Oh, Dan, there's been what we've done? Three hundred shows?
Is that enough?
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Is that true? Three hundred?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Right around three hundred.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
I'm calling a number out. Yeah, three hundred shows. That's
a lot, Dan for me.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
And you've only been here one.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Especially in the summer when I'm traveling.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
I think it was fun.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Call you think it was fun?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (03:36):
My boys? Right there?
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Okay, Well, why don't we just him?
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Larry? I'm sorry we were a burden to you.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
But yeah, if you want us at our football Larry,
then you have to have us at our palantier off.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Seat, Jack. We'll chat in a little bit. Yeah, I'm sorry, guys,
what were you saying?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
No? Why why don't we just hang up on Larry
and we just say goodbye?
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Damn? That would be great.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Okay, that's it, Larry's done. There you go.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
I just want to say how incredible it was that
you manipulated Larry into quitting.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah, that's a veticum, the best day of the god.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Damn. Ye.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Now he can't collect unemployment right because I wanted him
to be on a zoom so we could actually see
him and be able to build some chemistry here.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
We've done three hundred shows and he hasn't been up
here for more than one time. Yes, And you know,
I was talking to Eric the big German, and you know,
we're creating a whole new podcast room. We're building it
as we speak, building this empire out. And the big
Germans said bad, Larry either needs to get on a
(04:46):
zoom call or he's gone.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Well, yeah, he's going to be like the guy who
sold like ten percent of Apple for eight hundred bucks.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah, take this fucking rocket shit pizza.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah. And when you guys become big time, I'm stars.
By the way, you guys are wearing your Kentucky Derby hats.
Is that what this? Yeah? But let me give the introduction.
That was bad Larry, who was no longer on the show.
Dylan lost two units last week, Shay Shay one one
and a half, and Sammy p is here Fox Sports
(05:21):
Chicken Dinner Podcast. Great to see Sammy Pa again. Thanks
for having me back. Everybody. Yeah, well maybe we're going
to have you back a lot more. Sammy timing is everything.
Then I know, what are the odds that Sammy Pa
comes in? And then I fire Larry? Get it right now?
Bet it now.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Larry heard footsteps and he decided to jump ship.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
But Denny's like, yeah, please take it. I've done over
three hundred shows. Can you ask Ray if he knew
this was going to happen? Yeah, Like, did you have anything.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
You know this was going to happen? Any inclination?
Speaker 5 (05:54):
After the draft, he said, if you on my spot,
you did so well, you can take it. And I said,
I can never replace you, Larry, I'm not taking your spot.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
How come. He never told any of us this.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
I literally did tell you.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
But of the three hundred shows, here's a real question.
Of the three hundred shows, what's the over under on
the amount of shows that he missed, Like you're like
tapped out halfway ten and.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
A half or hung up randomly, it's ten and a
half too low? No over Okay, twenty five and a
half probably, But he would he would have. There was
always communication issues. He's traveling, he's a threesome with his
wife and his sister in law allegedly nice. There's Xanax involved. Nice,
there's Ray's lunch, his fake job that he has reading
(06:33):
books like.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Pictures from bed.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Yeah, I'm done. And then he would never have the
betting lunch.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
No, never would argue.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
He'd go, oh I saw in the New York Post.
I'm like, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I think we can all agree. I'm pretty ill prepared. Most
of the time. Larry kind of just took it to
a new lesson.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
It's over. I'm going to miss him. Oh I will too.
He'll still be a friend, but he's not reliable.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
In memoriam fuck in graphic on ig right away. Yeah
he's dead to us, Yeah, yes, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Born what are he born in? Like what nineteen eighteen to?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
And I don't I don't want him back. It's like
the the LIV golf players. You're not coming back, you
get taxed. Yeah about a moment of silence, Maybe take
your hats off for Larry, thank you, thank you, a
(07:37):
moment of silence for Larry's career, and it'll be who
was the guy that used to be on with you? Yeah?
Bad Larry. Okay, let's see where do we start. How
about Diego Pavilla or Pavia? He goes undrafted and of
(07:57):
course he was kind of the patron saint of this show.
I don't know how we got to handing out the
Diego Pavi Award.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
It was so I broke down Diego Pavilla that way
because I knew him from like I knew who he
was from a junior college player like YadA YadA, and
I was dead wrong on a specific game he looked
like shit, And then right the award just started happening
because of that. Yeah, you gave a deep dot you
gave every time you were like, you know, their secondary,
(08:28):
you know he can take advantage of the secondary. They
got an outside linebacker, you know, blah blah, and I'm like,
oh my god, they lost by thirty. Yeah, this isn't Yeah.
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Soresby. He dating back to two
thousand and two, placed more than ten thousand wagers. At
(08:48):
one point was averaging twenty bets per day. Now I
did have somebody tell me this. Who is in the
gambling community?
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Is it like, is it how many bets or how
much you bet? If you have a problem both, well
let's weigh this out. How many bets or how much
you're betting. So because he's only betting, you know, sometimes
two dollars or he wasn't betting a lot, but he
was a lot of money. But he was betting a
(09:17):
lot of times.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
To me, the calculus is is it fucking up your life?
Is it taking you away from school or your work
or your family? Whether how much it is or how
often it is, it sounds like he was doing it
all the goddamn time.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
I can tell you this, Dan, professionals will mostly bet
between twenty and thirty a week. So if he's betting
hundreds a week or two hundred bets a week, he
likes the action.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
He doesn't necessarily like the bet. He just likes to
have something in the air, right, But do you.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Have a problem, Like when do you have a problem?
Who decides? Okay, now it's a probably. I know. Shay
is saying if it takes you away, but you're a gambler.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Yeah, but if it's an obsession and you can't like
you anything else but sweat the bet, you know you
got to take a step back for sure.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Yeah, the judge can tell you if you have a problem.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Yeah. The roommate, she's having a conniption today. Why because
a bunch of the dudes are coming over, you know,
for dinner after the wait whatever, who's coming over? Well
I invited you as well, but hopefully Ray Dylan, this
guy may staying at the house. Yeah, and uh, Spencer, maybe,
(10:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Is there like a guest house.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Well there's a guest room. Yeah, nice guest room. There
a TV in there, set up? He set up all right, But.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
She's having would you bump Sammy if Dan said he
wanted to sleep over, I'm.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Not letting dance sleep over. You mean, God damn wolf
in the hen house.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
That your wife created that I didn't.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
It doesn't matter. You're never staying over.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Okay, and I'm not planning on staying over, but I
think you notice what pants I have on the idea
Why I have my cords on the wide gauge court.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Yes, don't come anywhere near my house.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
And you know your wife as a spot in her
heart for quarter rys. Okay, should Brendan is there any
way Brendan Soores plays college football?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Of course he's going to rehab and come back. He's
going to play.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Light him up, Sammy P. I don't think he plays
again in college.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
I don't think he does either.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
I do redemption Redemption Tour.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
The bets on Indiana are going to be tough to
overcome in the court of public opinion and the.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Court of n double.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, I would think so.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
But the NFL, that's a different story. That was a
college mistake, right, makes mistakes. But you know this commissioner
is going to punish him. If he goes supplemental draft
comes in, then he's going to probably suspend him for
half the season.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Fine. If I'm him, I'm like, hell yeah. Roger now
Ray put down that Mark Zuckerberg has interested in buying
the Seahawks. I thought that that was who's who's the
guy No, no, no, no, the Cook No, the weird
guy who married the Bill Gates No no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
No Altman, bald head, Peter Thiel Reiner, Rob No, lazy eye,
Steve Omer, he's got a shirt.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Off and his wife. No, his wife no Rfk No.
Who is the richest guy in the world. Not Musk but.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Jeff Bezos yes, h yeah, allegedly.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Now I think he has a lazy eye. He does,
I think so.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
It's a little goofy.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
But I thought he was the one who might be
buying the Seahawks, like.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
He wanted to buy the commanders. Bezos, but that sales
or sale forfeiture. Yeah, I don't know, Ray is that?
Is it Zuckerberg or is it Bezos?
Speaker 5 (13:05):
It's Zuckerberg and Tim Cook allegedly have interest. It just
came up on Bleacher Report before we started.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Football fans those too.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Zuckerberg's a UFC guy.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
He's a bro jiu jitsu right.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, one of the nerds started coming out of the woodwork.
That's when everything was fucked.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
But you realized that Musk could buy like the entire NFL. Yes, Hey,
do you want a team? I'm just gonna buy all
of them put robots on the field. No, we don't
want that.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
I don't either. The dystopian reality is coming down the pipe, Danny.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
We gotta fight AI. Yeah here, it's not good.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
It's not great. They're gonna know everything about us all
the time, where we go, what we do.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Don't you think they already know that.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
I think it's gonna get a lot worse.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
If you have an Alexa in your house, you know
that is always I know your TV's listen to you
all your TVs.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
They take pictures of what you watch, send it to
advertisers or Palenteer, whomever. And if you don't turn off
the fucking settings, they're going to know everything about you.
They literally turn on a camera in your living room.
They ain't good. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
I don't trust Alexa. I don't have one, no way.
Hell no. My wife makes me unplug it.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
The roommate just got a fucking ring camera at the
house and she won't let me unplug it or give
me access to the app.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I hate those two.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I've had this debate. Well, she only listens when you
command her. I'm like, bullshit, that is not real. Is
that why she noticed on her own that I'm out
of paper towel and ordered it for exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
I forget what it was, but it was such a
random thing that I said. And next thing I know
on my phone, yep, was something really, really, really random,
And there's no other way that that could be, Like, oh,
it's on my Facebook feed, Like it's like.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
I haven't I talked about lawnmowers once in the last
three years.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
And then ten minutes later it pops up. What is
the shay versus the world? This is you versus the
airport etiquette?
Speaker 4 (15:05):
What happened? So we went to Pittsburgh. Yeah, nice little airport, Yeah,
real small, easy to maneuver around. But you know, at
every airport you go to, mainly La Guardia and big airports,
there is a common courtesy that everybody should follow, Like
we are in this together. It is a fucking battlefield,
right getting through security, getting on the plane, that's hard work.
(15:27):
If you don't work together as a community, it gets
a lot worse. So you get through security and you
have five people in one family, They're all standing five wide.
There's no way around them. You can't get around them.
They're leaving your shit on the fucking counter because nobody
gives a shit about you. And then you go to
the gate, Danny. You go to the gate and you
try and get on the plane. You're saying, oh, what's
my boarding on a third? Okay, I'm gonna wait. There's
forty two people lined up in freaking wheelchairs because they're
(15:50):
all disabled, and they all get on the plane first.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Oh, it's shocking discovery.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
And every single airport you go to there's forty two
people that can't walk, but somehow they made it to
the airport and when they get off the plane, they
don't need any fucking help. It's a shocking discovery. Fucking weird.
I tell you what, if you put those wheelchairs and
you say, you know what, you all get on last.
You don't get on first, you get on fucking last,
they'd all miraculously jump up like Jesus touched them and
(16:15):
walk down the fucking aisle.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Well, it's the plane should board back to front anyways.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Well, yeah, Disneyland, you'll find a lot of people with wheelchairs.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
They changed the rules though at Disneyland, did they. Yeah,
you can't cut with wheelchairs. Really, Yeah, I'm telling you
you tried. I did, like twenty years ago, and then
I was told that they changed it.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Hmmm, like you clearly have a disability, but we don't
think it's a physical It.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Was it was somebody's grandma. She got in the chair
and was like, oh, I'm hurt, we're cutting Everything was great.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
I remember doing stuff for the Children's Miracle Network and
as part of the thank you for you know, helping
out with their telethon, Marie Osmond was the host, Steve
Young was involved, Kurt Warners involved, and uh so they
gave you a Velcrow buddy at Disneyland, and that is
(17:09):
that they're always with you to take you to the
front of the line. Velcrow Buddy, Velcrow Buddy.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Were they attached physically.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
No, but it's kind of like they are. I don't
know why they called him velcrow Buddies. There was no
velcrow as far as I know, but there were people
who their job is to show you around if you're
you know, a known person of celebrity or something like that,
and then you would we would go to the front
of the line every ride. Yeah, must be nice. Yeah,
(17:42):
but I was giving back to the community. Sure, this
Miracle Network.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
I'd love to see who started that Ray who started
the Children's Miracle Network?
Speaker 1 (17:50):
I think that Peter also very Uh.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
George Sorows you talk centric, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Mormon, Marie Osmond and Steve Young were involved. That's two
out of three.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah, come on, remember John Schneider from the Dukes of
Hazzard Mormon?
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Is it a Mormon thing?
Speaker 5 (18:12):
Maria Osmond and John Schneider, Mike Shannon, Mick Shannon and Joe.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Lake Children's Miracle Network.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
Yeah, that's what I'm reading.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Yeah, yeah, but I was obviously involved in this.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
You do for him?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Uh, you're just part of the night hosting stuff.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
You know, to make a wish thing like the kids
are dying. Yeah, I went to one in Westport and
it was expensive. It was an event, you know, it
was a gallar or whatever.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Wait, wait, are you gonna say negative things here? Yeah?
Oh yeah, big time. Okay, what happened with the make
a Wish?
Speaker 4 (18:47):
The kid wasn't dying, He wasn't even sick.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
He was just deaf.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
You got fucking hearing it. Okay, I am not deaf,
so you don't have to yell.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
All right, kid was fine. You just needed hearing aids,
make a wish.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
Did he get him? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:05):
You got him? He got that and a ship to
more like come on and.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
An Xbox the hearing aids a decoy.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Make a wish. Wow, phone a friend, we can make
a wish.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Is there anything to recap? Larry didn't get his bets
in last week? So and Larry's dead to me, like
he's done? Doesn't matter? Uh, Dylan, there's a lot of
red ink here.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
The Jets did take David Bailey though, Yeah, and the
Penguins won Saturday game and then lost the series.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
So Shay missed out on Colton Hood second cornerback. Select
it fell you got total SEC players first round. Uh,
Seahawks first pick would be a running back. You got
David Bailey. You know the Chiefs from what I told,
wanted to draft Ruben Bain that maybe he didn't have
(19:59):
a good interview with Kansas City and your cowboy. I
like what your cowboys did.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
I think they reached a little for Malachi, but Downs
is obviously.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Oh, I think Downs is good. He comes in right
away and that's great.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
They won.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
So we start out this week. I'm going to have
Sammy p as the guest picker.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Go first.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
We have Kentucky Derby coming up this weekend as well,
so Sammy P. Dan it's wide open.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
I hate to say that on a betting show, but
you've got five horses that are shorter than ten to one,
and eight of the twenty are shorter than fifteen to one.
So basically, this is like trying to throw a bullseye
at two in the morning after you've been drinking all night.
You know you could hit it, but it's not ideal
to bet win. I think the horses to pay attention
to in this one are the seven, the eight, the nine,
(20:50):
the twelve, and the fifteen. And what I did with
those five horses is I made a forty dollars exact
a box two dollars box costs forty.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
I have those five horses.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
Any combo can finish one two, okay, so seven, eight, nine, twelve,
and fifteen. My favorite horse is the fifteen. Now, this
is a horse that's only ran three races emerging market.
They just put blinders on them. Anybody know what blinders are? Blinkers?
Excuse me, you guys know what the blinkers.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Are, right, Yeah?
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Basically they tunnel vision. Dan if I took these off
I couldn't see. Can you imagine without the if we
didn't have our blinkers, we wouldn't be able to do
our thing right. So now they fixed all that. He's
in the fifteen hole. You could find a price right
now twelve to one. Obviously this could go down today
of the race. I think he's very live to win,
(21:40):
so I have him win. Play show that's the fifteen
emerging market, and then smaller bets on the eighth and
the twelve. So happy and Chief Wallaby. I basically risk
like two hundred and ten bucks. If I lose it all,
I can live my life and it won't matter. What
can you make on that two dollars exact, it depends
(22:00):
on which one hits. I mean, it could be five
hundred bucks, six hundred.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Bucks, sends where the pool is. Yeah, yeah, especially.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
If you have a longer shot, like if the fifteen
wins and the fifteen is twelve to one, and then
say the fourteen comes in second, that the fourteen that's
the other race, the nine. You know, that could explode
the odds just because you have the bigger shot winning
the race.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Shaye explain the gambling math.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Yeah, so it's all PERI mutual. So the pool is
much bigger at a race like Kentucky. So if you
get a dog on top and that comes in first,
that pool, you know, the odds work in your favor.
They are in your favorite because of one but it
could explode, like the one time I bet super factors
is the Derby, because it could be a life changing hit.
Like there's two hundred and twenty million bet every year
(22:47):
in the Derby. And you know Kentucky, the track takes
out fifteen percent or seventeen percent and then it's all
up to you and there's a shit ton of more
recreational betters. Oh yeah, there are call the assisted wageram motherfuckers.
They don't have the money to manipulate the lines like
they do in a normal day at the track.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
I used to go to the Preakness in the Belmont.
I used to cover those races for a few years
when I worked in New York at CNN, and I
remember that I won a bet and they would have
so the writers, the journalists would have their own little
area where you could place your bets. And I ended
(23:26):
up placing a bet and I won twenty eight dollars.
But I won the race. I won twenty eight dollars.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
Andrew Byer, Yeah, oh yeah, I was listening to today
on a fucking podcast.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Oh you were yeah. So one of the great horse
racing handicappers, the Goat. Yes, he cashed his ticket before me.
I think it was probably thirty thousand dollars. So I'm
watching this and you know, I'm like, I got my
bed nailed it, and he's it's got to be thirty thousands,
(24:03):
might have been more. And then I got up there
and I got a twenty eight dollars win bet.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
So this race is the race to win big. Like
I don't even fuck with the win pool because it
can get so you know, funky with people that oh
I love this name or whatever, and the public just
mashes the number. But like the exactors, the superfectors and drefectors,
like this is where you can make fucking money.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
That's probably what that guy did. Dan.
Speaker 6 (24:27):
He probably had either the try or the super so
he had the three in a row or the four
in a row, and he bet a little bit more money,
you know. But if you if you can get the
three in a row straight or the four in a row,
and there's a long shot in there, you can make
tens of thousands of dollars.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
All right, Dylan, you're up?
Speaker 2 (24:43):
All right, Dan, since we're just in Pittsburgh, I'm taking
Renegade the favorite. Explain why because the Steelers like to
play Renegade and I hate the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
I'm taking Albus at thirty to one to win.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Uh, he's kind of a nube. But you know, if
you're a Harry Potter guy, you get it.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
What what does that mean?
Speaker 1 (25:08):
That's Dumbledore's first name?
Speaker 4 (25:09):
The fuck?
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (25:10):
What is Harry Potter? Gay Shay? Whoa?
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Even if it was? I love Harry Potter.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
And then I got litmus Test to place and Potent
Day to show both of Bob Bafford's horses. Ashley Schaeffer
loves to uh.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
He loves it there, okay.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
And then I got a couple boxes one two fourteen
trifecta box, five eight eighteen trifecta box, and then one
eight exact a box Okay. And then I'll probably end
up throwing a bunch of other bullshit in on Saturday. Yeah,
after a couple julips, Dan, Yeah, okay, anyway, Yeah, it's
the NBA season two, Dan, I'm taking the Spurs to
(25:45):
win the title at plus five hundred.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Okay, Wemby. I have a friend who has a horse
running in the wood Memorial. No shit, yeah sick. He
had a horse that ran in the Derby last year.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
The hell dammy, I know.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
But like part of he's upset that he didn't get
me in on this. Yeah, because then I would have
given him all this publicity, because then I would have said, hey,
I got a horse running in the Derby. I think
Jim Rome had a horse running in the Derby one.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
You should get into the horse business.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
No, let's do it that way. You can gamble, but
not gambling.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
And we have the perfect name for you, bad Larry.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Yeah. Perfect, that's how.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
That's how we go full circle. Just stick it to Larry.
Bad Larry. Your horse wins the Larry.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
You have the Spurs winning the title, Dylan, I do
five to one. Okay, that's good. I like, uh, bad
Larry did send in some bets. He's got Renegade, he's
got Commandment, further Ado and emerging market. Then he's got
some basketball ones. But nobody cares because we don't care
(26:55):
about Larry anymore. He is done with the show. I'm
still I'm still shocked at how nonchalant he was with them.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
He didn't give a fuck. He did not We've been
talking to him for three hundred shows, like I know,
Larry Next, all the time he'd been to his house,
been to his house. Well, he didn't give It's like.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Getting broken up with by a girl that you don't like. Yeah,
you're like, I was gonna do it at some point. Yeah,
now that you did it, I'm.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Pissed now I watch it back, Not Larry, just the girls,
all right, Shay, all right, fine, give me your picks.
NBA Knickerbockers laying two and a half, Dallas Stars on
the Hockey plus one ten and the Royals tonight against
the eight plus one oh five. So the Derby is
what matters. The Derby is what matters. And my key
(27:40):
horse is I think in a great spot, I think
has the best speed blah blah blah. Further Ado number eighteen.
I'm a big fan of their speed. I think that
the Renegade, the favorite, is going to get boxed in
in the pole position. They are a stalker. They're not
going to be up in the front. I think it's
gonna be really tough for them to do anything.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
You don't like.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
I'm riding the rails.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
I don't. I don't think he's thinking boxed in. I
think it's gonna be fucked I read Ortiz is great,
but he's never won the Derby and I don't trust him.
Uh So eighteen is gonna be my key. I like Incredibol,
I like danen Bourbon, I like right to party. I
also really like a litmus test, So those further dedu
it is gonna be my key. I'm gonna mix in
the others and the exotics, not touching the wind pool
exactas tries supers.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Let's fucking dance, Okay, anything else that needs to be
mentioned here. Incredibolt is pretty that's pretty good name. R
Falka likes that one. That's his long shot. Chris Filica. Yeah,
we did our show the other day. He loves that horse.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Okay, that horse finds a fucking lane, dude, that thing
will muscle through. It's a it's a I like the horse.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
Oh what happened going to the dog track in Pittsburgh,
going to Virginia, West Virginia.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Dylan didn't It's all Dylan's fault. Oh, I thought you
guys were gonna go into Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Yeah, what happened?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
We ended up we shot we shot stuff for the
show on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
I was being a company man. Dan.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
We'll be back then. Maybe I'll do my bachelor party.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
At bachelor party. We haven't even talked about that.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Yeah, I can't go to your badge and you have
to do it at your house.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
He still won't be there. I wouldn't. I would not go.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
You're going to have a great time.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Where where could it? Where would it have to be
for you to go?
Speaker 1 (29:24):
I guess in the man cave.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
Okay, there you go here?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
But you can't mean to do my bachelor party at work? No,
I but I can't host it here. Oh we have
to sneak in.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
No, I can't have you know, I'd have to take
out insurance on knuckleheads coming in here, and you know,
somebody gets hurt and all of a sudden, all.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
The drugs do what.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
None of the drugs?
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Well, you're not doing any And what if it was
like a golf trip somewhere, so.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
Don we could maybe stay out.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Oh, I heard about a good place that has a great.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Pool in patio. Wow, I think we could stay at
here by the JP Morgan Banker of the Year.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah what what did he had a sex slave?
Speaker 4 (30:08):
She had a she was called girl bossing Danny, and
she took it to the next level.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
And he ratted her out. Okay, wait a minute, So
this guy got abducted, he on hostage.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Well, I think he got into a relationship with a
much stronger personality and she inflicted her will on him repeatedly. Okay,
she was his superior, right, were they in the same
division or no?
Speaker 5 (30:36):
She's allegedly an executive and he's a broker.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yeah, okay, But Ray said that she drugged him with viagra.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
She spiked his drinks some of them.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Yeah yeah, okay, but that that doesn't impair you. So
he just had a boner and totally with it.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
What is a man to do?
Speaker 1 (30:51):
I mean, if it lasts for more than five hours?
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Yeah yeah, but yeah, he sits her out. He clearly
wants to raise her a payout. But poor girl. I
hate the patriarchy you're speaking of too. I feel like
there's been a run on teachers banging students. All female
teachers say it's every day and it's always Texas, Florida.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
In New Jersey.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
I know, I know, I saw that it was bad.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
They're all mostly hot too. I just I have for
tea the teacher, their teacher hot.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
At least the husband. Kill yourself.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
You find out that your wife ran around on you
with a high schooler? I know, what do you do?
How do you recover from that? You gotta move? You
have to.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Oh, that's like guarantee, you gotta move, But like rehab,
like what do you do?
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Rub it? Blame yourself? I mean, why do you recover
from that? You hate every sixteen year old boy. You
steve from here on out just checking out permanent beef.
You have a son, and you're like, oh god, damn it,
it would be bad.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yes, anything else that needs to be mentioned On the
last show, Last appearance of Bad Larry, I'd.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
Like to tell a quick story about the twenty seventeen Derby.
There was a horse named Patch one eye Dan, and
he drew the twenty hole, so he's all the way
on the outside. My buddies and I decided that this
horse was going to win the derby. Naturally, it's a
good idea. One eye, great story. We mixed up the
(32:14):
eyes though we thought that he didn't have the eye
on one side, and it turned out we were wrong,
so he couldn't see the field. He's on the outside
with no left eye, and we decided we're going to bet,
you know, five hundred. There's a group of US five
hundred to win about fifteen thousand. But we were convinced
he was going to win, so we were already spending
(32:34):
the money. He couldn't see any other horse in the field,
and he came in almost dead last, but we had
convinced ourselves this one eyed horse named Patch.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Was going to win.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Not the greatest moment in horse history. Now does he
earn his nickname? I'm trying to So he's Patch because
he needs a patch.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
He has a bad eye, so huge eye Patch on
the left.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Was a fight.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Yeah, yeah, Like I was curious, how like when did
he become Patch? I should have that, I don't.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
All I know is by the time he was ready
to run the race, the left eye gone. And we
were convinced this pirate horse named Patch was going to win,
and bet money we didn't have.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
And then when he didn't win, but if he was
on the rail would have been great. Then you would
have won.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
He would have seen everything. If not, Yeah, all he
saw was the crowd. Yeah, I'm killing it. I couldn't
see anything to the left. I don't even have to
race hard. I'm good he jogged in there for twentieth
I'm secretariat Jesus.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Not a great idea, Dan looking back. So that's it.
I think we've we've somehow stumbled through this emotional obviously
with what happened earlier.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yes, yes, can we get some kind of like formal
grief counseling for losing bat Larry here at the office.
Do you think you're gonna I would need some Yeah,
I think okay?
Speaker 1 (34:01):
And he did not.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Yeah, you know that's why he was so eager to
get off here.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
He's like, I ain't doing that. We should hold him
to that still, but I'm still he was so nonchalant,
like take it, Sammy, Yeah you can have it. I've
done three hundred shows that I put Larry on the map.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
You got too big for his bridges.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Then I'll miss the threesomes with him and his wife
and his sister.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Six listeners in New Jersey.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
That's true. The number of people came up to me
at Bad Larry's daughter's wedding and they're like, man, we
listen every week, and I'm like, all.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Right, there's a bar full of people who are no
longer listening.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Yeah all at Rays.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Raise are what was the other bar?
Speaker 4 (34:49):
We was, uh yeah legos, Yeah that place is good.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
Yeah, bad Larry bat Larry. Yeah. Do you know the
only reason why I created this podcast was because bad
Larry would always tell me all the bets he won,
and I said, oh, how about we do a podcast, Larry?
And then he was trying to get around having a
bad week gambling, and he would say, well, I placed
other bets that I won that I didn't place on
(35:17):
the show. And you'd always say this to Ray, and
I go, Larry is bullshitting. He did yeah, right in
the back. No, I think it's right in the chest.
Really yeah, I saw it. I got it was right
there in front of me. Just do it already, Yeah,
very nonchalant when he did it. Good news.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Now Larry can go along with Pete Best and Wally
Pip and keep on going. Yeah, I think we've upgraded.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
Damn Okay, I got I gotta kind of regroup here
for next next week.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
I would still oh yeah, no, I'm allo top cocktail, right. No,
I don't want anything bad that happened to Larry, just
saying hypothetically with that, No, I don't want anything bad
to happen to.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
You could storm the beach, is what we should do?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Should We should fucking storm the beach.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
You know somebody with a.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Boat, we should get him in trouble.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
That's what I mean.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
Imagine Larry at Normandy.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
He would have gotten smoked immediately, immediately.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Never would have made it out the boat.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Never, the doors come down and the yeah transport boat
and Larry's gone.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Minus five thousand. Okay, that's it. We've done it, Sammy
p great to see him again and his podcast. Do
you want to give a plug for your podcast?
Speaker 4 (36:31):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Checking Dinner, Apple, Spotify and YouTube. And then we did
bare Bets.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
We did a derby episode with Felika that went out
yesterday on Apple and Spotify as well.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Uh, you got Dylan here, You've got Big Day Ray,
you got Shan Irving yours truly and we'll talk to
you sometime again. On Dan Patrick takes a gamble without
fucking Larry
