Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush.
Today's episode is a little different and honestly long overdue.
We've got some very special guests joining me today. My sisters.

You guys, hear me talk about college rush and Sororiti
life all the time, but now we're getting the real,
unfiltered version from the people actually living it right now.
They've been through the chaos of recruitment, figured out where
they fit, and have their own stories to tell. So
let's get into it. Gabriella Milania, Welcome to Dirty Rush.

Okay, so why don't we just share with everyone where
you guys are, where you're at right now? If you
want to disclose what Sororiti.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
You're in, Hi, I'm currently in Barcelona, Spain. I'm usually
in an arbor, but I'm studying abroad at Michigan. I'm
in tri Ita.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
And what about you, Millennia, So.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I go to University of Tampa. I'm in sigd Out and.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Love my sorority.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Okay, so did you guys always plan on rushing or
did that decision happen once you got to school.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I always knew I was gonna rush because of Jia.
I kind of like everything that like she did like
if I kind of like I just followed because she's
my older sister, so like she went in a sorority.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
She was always thinking, you need to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
So I always knew it not the thing Gabriella did it.
So my sisters always gave me advice on what to do,
and I listened.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I think your story was a little different, though, Gabrielle,
because I didn't know, if you write you didn't fully
know if you wanted to rush.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
I guess I didn't know where I wanted to go
to school at first, and I was like it was
dependent on where I chose. But because I went to
a big ten, then I knew I wanted to rush.
But if it was a difference, maybe not. It's just
part of the social life there, so I feel like
it adds to the experience.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I think it is a great way. You know, I'm
happy you both rushed. I do think it's a great
way to meet people, even if you know, obviously you
have your close friends and your sorority, but just being
in Greek life in general, you also meet girls from
different sororities that you end up being close with. And
that kind of is what happens freshman year. You meet
a bunch of people. Sometimes you get separated when you

go through recruitment, but even though you're in different sororities,
you still can hang out, go out together, go out
to different places. So I think it just is broadens
the family of Greek life and you're all one big family.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, I completely agree. It's also like a completely different
crowd of people at school. Like I'm studying abroad right
now and I run into people that go to my
school all the time, but I didn't know they went
to my school because they're not in Greek life, because
that's kind of the crowd of majority of part of
right now.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
I mean, do you guys not remember the week I
called you and I was like, I don't really think
I'm gonna rush when I want to drop with you.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Guys, You're like, no, don't do that.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
I was like, okay, but you rushed first semester, right,
It was different for me.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
I rushed first semester, so like I went like one
week with meeting friends without being in a sorority, and
then I joined my sorority and met a whole bunch
of friends during recruitment. We all went in different sororities,
and we're all still friends.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
I think that's a good move, though, especially if you
do have to rush first semester, because it kind of
like makes you meet people right away.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, I guess in a way, if you were struggling
to meet people, it gives you friends right off the bat.
But for me it was a little different. I rushed
second semester, but I actually preferred it that way because
now I have like what I call my first semester
friends and my sorority friends, and I ended up finding
a really great group of girls first semester, So I
(03:57):
wouldn't have changed it, because, like I I loved both
equally as much.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah, University of Tampa's different, though, it's definitely not a
big ten, So we did not need to, Like, you
do not need to join a sorority here, like at
all whatsoever. Like you really don't need to. Like if
I was in a sortia or not, I would be
the same like for here, Like, I guess if you
want to go to like mixers and stuff, you need
to be an authority. But like my best friend Victoria,
(04:22):
she's not in Asrotia. I bring her to only mixers.
I'm like, yeah, she's in Sigdell. She's in sig Deel
like like we're just like I bring her to everywhere
and like a bunch of girls go. I don't know,
just like doesn't really matter here that much as if
like I were in Michigan.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Just doesn't look.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But I guess for
like game days, it's better to be in a sorority.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, so what was rush like for each of you? Long?
I'm sure yours was like not even close to what
ours was.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Like, all right, well, who wants to go.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
To you have rock as your sorority.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
We had different classrooms and like talk to like literally
like going to different classrooms. Like I'm walking around this
like campus because like University of Tampa's really not that big,
Like it's like my longest walk to class is like
ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
You know what I'm saying. Don't you have rocks on
campus that represent No, we.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Have rocks and they're pretty and they're painted.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
No I'm saying smaller schools have rocks.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Yeah, we have rocks. You don't have houses.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
It's okay.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
So you had to go so you had to go
from classroom to classroom and that was representing sorority.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yes, went to a cash gym. And it's a I
don't know, like making them like make.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Wait, So how long was rush?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
It was two weekends, Saturday and Sunday each weekend.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Only four days total. Yeah, oh yeah, that's literally nothing.
Well it was still a lot o.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, I'm sure, but I guess it's just different. Like
were the classrooms decorated? Like how did you get a
feel for the sorority?
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Oh yeah, well I knew I like myself, Like yeah,
they like decked them all out, like they like put up,
like they like put up like curtains, like they did
a whole bunch of stuff like like obviously did not
look in the classroom. And they put table cloths, they
put ta cloths over the chairs. They bought like bows
(06:35):
to pull on the chairs. They decked it all out.
But I went into every sorority and then first, oh god,
the first two were like so like quiet, like then
and I got like really scared, like wait.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
This is not for me. And then I go into
my story. They're like s I.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
It's like screaming on the top of their breaking and
like jumping in my face and like like twerking on me,
like going crazy, and I loved it.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I was like, wait, this is me, this is me,
like like dancing like in this circle to like Cardi
B or something like.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
It was funny. It was really funny.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
And I had a great conversation and all the girls
were like absolutely beautiful, Not that that matters, but they
were really beautiful, and I was like wow, yeah, and
they're crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
So you found your home.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
The second they started playing Cardi B, you knew you belonged.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
And the second they started like jumping up and down
and like twerking and having a good time.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
So what was your brush experience?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Like everyella, mine was a lot different. Mine started in January,
second semester, and it was like in the brink of winter.
So I'm not gonna lie. That was probably the most
miserable time, like ever. I was in my skirt tights
and this like little top walking to house house. It
was like negative wind chill. It was like it was

like negative three degrees.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I think, no, yeah, I mean Michigan gets really cold
in the winter, if you guys.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
But that was my That was my worst winter at
Michigan since being there my junior. Now obviously not there
this winter, but like last year was so much more
mild comarage to freshman year, so the weather made is
super hard and I was also, oh, I think I
was Do I go on acutane?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:21):
I was on acutane so my skin felt like it
was going to crack off anyways, But besides that, I
had it for I think like around a month or
at least like three weeks. Who open house, Yeah, it
was the list.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Each round was a weekend. It's what it's open house
round Sisterhood and then philanthropy.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Open house, philanthropy Sisterhood, than pres and open house is
virtual and then you go, I think from sixteen to
I think it's twelve right after open house.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Okay, see, I think we did open house philanthropy and
then preth or we didn't have sister run no or
no okay, actually I think it was open house, Sisterhood
and PREF. But during PREF they like explained what our
philanthropy was in like.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
A comed Yeah. Yeah, then like right after open house
you start going to the houses. So like as soon
as I went to the houses, like then I really
knew where I wanted to like be.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
But you you were conflicted a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, I was conflicted because, like I said, I had
first semester friends, and I think you're under the inception
that like you're all going to go the same place,
but like obviously you're gonna connect with different girls in
different ways. So by the end of it, I was
down to two like kind of the whole time. But
when I had a summit only two for pref I
(09:47):
was debating between which one to drop.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Which part of the process do you guys think was
the most challenging.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Last year when were rushing, we weren't allowed to chew gum,
say rush talk about boys, alcohol, going out that standard.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Yeah, but what was the most challenging when you were
rushing for a sorority? Like what part it was the
most challenging for you? Or was it not challenging because
the second you heard Cardi B you knew where you belonged.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
The most challenging was at the end, I called my sisters,
and I was between when Sigdell.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Oh, I remember this, you were in between two too.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, and I really like this one girl who rushed me.
But you know what, at the end of the day,
I knew Sigdell.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Was like more my vibe.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
But I was like, really in between the two, you
just like have to just like go with like you
really think was more your vibe.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
And I was like, yeah, that's Sigdell.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I think that's the hardest part. I mean I was
stuck between two.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well you only haven eight sororities at your school, right, Yeah, yeah,
I mean I guess the most challenging part is just
like when you're debating like which ones to drop and
which ones to keep.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
And I also like being in a sorority because being
in a sorority and you get like mixtures with like fraternities,
and then you meet a whole bunch of boys and
that's always fun.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yeah, that is fun. I mean you get to meet people,
obviously make friends. Us three, we didn't have any legacy
connections when we were rushing for a sorority. We were
the first generation really in our family to go to college.
So the sorority is you know, asked us back based
(11:44):
on our personalities and our connections with them. But yeah,
we no one and our family went to college besides us, you're.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Real, and we all went to different colleges and we
all endrow up in different sororities as well.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah we did. I mean Mom went to Berkeley and
got her associates, but she did not rush a sorority.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Yeah, Mom went to college. Don't tell people that Mom
didn't go to college.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, but we are like the first generation to really
go to school and graduate with a bachelor's degree.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Will she stay at college like dorm like we did.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, no, she wasn't allowed to.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
I know.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
But I'm saying we are the first generation to really
go to school, go away, get our bachelor's degree. Like
the way we all experienced college is very different than
our parents and aunts. And yeah, I don't think any
of our uncles, I.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Mean we bad parties for our Yeah, like part is insane.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
They still do bad parties.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I know.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
And like if you were to tell No One of that,
she's like kid five stacles.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Yeah, no idea what that off it is?
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I think because Mom never experienced it, she would like
encourage us to do it. She was like excited for us.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
She was so excited she wanted us to do everything
that she didn't do. So going into that, what is parents'
weekend like for you guys? I mean, I know what
it was like for me. Mom is not a frat
party girl. She really doesn't like the frat parties that much.
She's a good sport. She'll come, she'll hang out for
(13:27):
a little bit. But I totally understand. It's such a
different situation when she's in overcrowded places like bars and
frat parties. I mean, she is recognized very very quickly,
and it's more so than her taking photos the entire
time instead of really enjoying parents' weekend with me. So
(13:53):
because I went to school so close, it was easy
for her to kind of just pop in. We could
go to the game. The game was a something that
she enjoyed because we just sat in our own section,
and if we did a parent's tailgate, because it wasn't
really near the frats, it was on a different campus,
and then we would go watch the game. But yeah,
(14:15):
but it was fun. I just think obviously, you know
trees better than frat parties.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Yeah, No, it was similar at mine.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I mean she came for a game day and I
only would take her to the tailgates if they were
like not crowded, if that makes sense, because otherwise it's
like too overwhelming. I remember her Louis came for the
USC game. I guess it was my sophomore year, first semester,
and I felt so bad because it's not usually that crowded,
(14:46):
but because we've never played them before, it was actually
the most crazy I've ever seen. And usually when you
go into the bake house it's very quick, like takes
two seconds. So I took them through the student section.
We were like almost like in a mosh pit, Like
we were like neck and neck with people pushing. It
(15:06):
was so bad. I felt terrible.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
It's just different, you know, and like gets on. It's
like things that we can't control.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
No, yeah, and then and then we got to like
our normal seats and like that was fine, but exactly, yeah,
like just like less time.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
She's such a good sport and she really does it
and like doesn't mine because obviously we want her there
for a parents' weekend. She wants to be there, but
sometimes when it's too crowded, it's just it's too much.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, I'll take her to like the activities at my
Soty house. So they do a lot of stuff in
the front yard. They do that stuff is really cute. Yeah,
and then we'll just like go dinner one of my
favorite places. Yeah uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
So yeah, when mom came to visit me, I had
to bring her an electric fan to the door.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
But my fan, it is really good. It's like a
dice and like it really just like.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Just like I've spent eighty bucks on it and it
works perfect on Amazon. I had to it gets really
hot here, like I sweat and it looks disgusting. I'm
not doing that, Like, no one's catching me dripping sweat.
That's a gross And like at the Doughty's there's not pools,
and if there is a pool, I'm not going in
that pool.

Like yeah, I would hope not.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Disgusting like du I wouldn't. Yeah.

No, So, like everyone was trying to get me to
go down the water side the one time, I'm.

Like, how was it for mom?

Though, I'm explaining my college experience and I'll tell you
Mom's after.

And everyone got feet in hand stuff.

Something after they went down the water slide kishi like fungus.

Anyways, so Mom was in the crowd, like like putting
the fan in her and like everyone kept asking her
for photos. It was really freaking annoying, just because I
I wanted to dance, I want and everyone like taking
photos or and like she stayed for like thirty minutes,
and oh, Johanna was like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
I'm out of here too.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
It's so hot, I'm sweating, and I was like, deuces, girls,
I'm staying for a little bit longer, and then went.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Back to my apartment and laid out.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
By my pool.

Yeah.

Well yeah, I mean it's different. I feel like when
they go visit you at Tampa, it's you could make
more of a relaxing weekend out of it, especially because
you're on the beach.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
We went to the beach and tang all day and Mom,
we sat in the durroombrolls got really ten.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Mom ordered food, o'donna ordered food.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
We eat.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
It was like sands the beach all day. It was
really nice.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
And but the day before that, my sorority was throwing
authority for Parents' weekend, so I wanted to take my
mom to that and then at night we went to
dinner and I took all Gianna out.

My mom didn't want to go out, so she just
stayed home.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
That's good. I mean, I think parents' weekend definitely can
be a lot for her, but it is fun because
she could do different things each one of our schools.
When it's a little commerce, she can go to the
sorority house and come to parent events that we hosted
our sorority house. Milania, you have the luxury of being
in the sun, which we obviously all enjoy. So you know,
(18:14):
just doing things in little increments and making sure it's
not too overwhelming.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Yeah, I mean she does come to everything though.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
She comes to everything, and she's amazing and doesn't have
a problem with it. But what's also nice about my area.
We go to Birmingham, you did, like an hour outside
of ann oarb It's like kind of a Morstown Mount
Clair area. It's beautiful, so there's a lot of shopping there.
Really great well, because like you want to go out,
like I actually appreciate having a more chill weekend when
(18:42):
mom's there. So we'll go to Birmingham and they have
like a really great mall, like short Hills type mall.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah when Yeah, my mom obviously enjoys doing that. Like
by me. It was hard because like Rutgers, it was
so close to home. So if I want to have
a chill weeknd my mom, then I would just go home.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah, he came home a lot in college. I remember
seeing you a lot.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Well. I also a year and a half of my
college experience was during COVID. Oh wait really yeah, I
went home April my freshman year. I didn't go back
to school until my junior year.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
You're lying, that's so sad. Oh that is sad. I'm
so sorry that happened to you. Yeah, it sucks.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Oh my god, I hate COVID for that. I made
a lot of people like miss out and like their
graduations and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
I felt so bad.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah it was rough, but but yeah, so that's why
there it's fun when mom comes and visits you girls,
because there's different things to do, and I think that's
why I even encouraged you guys to go far and
experience and do everything. But when she would come and
visit me, it's like when she was tapped out. I
was like, it's fine, go home, I'll see you, like
next weekend.

I was gonna say, there's something called Hyde Park here
and Mom likes to go shopping there. It's like it's
like imagine short hills, but all outside, like all outside
with like palm trees.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Like a nice outdoor mall.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Then right, it's an outdoor mall and you just walk
and there's a bunch of restaurants and like Saphora, like
Lulu Lemon, just like everything, and me and Mom go
there and you can take pictures there. It's so pretty
and it's called Hyde Park. Everyone in Tampa knows what
Hyde Park is. It's really it's really cute spot. And
like during the holidays, they put Christmas trees, Halloween, they

decorated for Halloween. There's a pumpkin patch there. I was
so happy during a Halloween because I wanted to go
to Conklin Farm so badly and there was a pumpkin
patch in Hyde Park.

Yeah, University of Tampa's different, though, it's definitely not a

do not need to join a sorority here, like at
all whatsoever. Like you really don't need to. Like if
I was in a sortia or not, I would be
the same like for here, Like, I guess if you
want to go to like mixers and stuff, you need
to be an authority. But like my best friend Victoria,

she's not in Asrotia. I bring her to only mixers.
I'm like, yeah, she's in Sigdell. She's in sig Deel
like like we're just like I bring her to everywhere
and like a bunch of girls go. I don't know,
just like doesn't really matter here that much as if
like I were in Michigan.

Just doesn't look.

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But I guess for
like game days, it's better to be in a sorority.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yeah, so what was rush like for each of you? Long?
I'm sure yours was like not even close to what
ours was.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Like, all right, well, who wants to go.

To you have rock as your sorority.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
We had different classrooms and like talk to like literally
like going to different classrooms. Like I'm walking around this
like campus because like University of Tampa's really not that big,
Like it's like my longest walk to class is like
ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
You know what I'm saying. Don't you have rocks on
campus that represent No, we.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Have rocks and they're pretty and they're painted.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
No I'm saying smaller schools have rocks.

Yeah, we have rocks. You don't have houses.

So you had to go so you had to go
from classroom to classroom and that was representing sorority.

Yes, went to a cash gym. And it's a I
don't know, like making them like make.

Wait, So how long was rush?

It was two weekends, Saturday and Sunday each weekend.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Only four days total. Yeah, oh yeah, that's literally nothing.
Well it was still a lot o.

Yeah, I'm sure, but I guess it's just different. Like
were the classrooms decorated? Like how did you get a
feel for the sorority?
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Oh yeah, well I knew I like myself, Like yeah,
they like decked them all out, like they like put up,
like they like put up like curtains, like they did
a whole bunch of stuff like like obviously did not
look in the classroom. And they put table cloths, they
put ta cloths over the chairs. They bought like bows

to pull on the chairs. They decked it all out.
But I went into every sorority and then first, oh god,
the first two were like so like quiet, like then
and I got like really scared, like wait.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
This is not for me. And then I go into
my story. They're like s I.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
It's like screaming on the top of their breaking and
like jumping in my face and like like twerking on me,
like going crazy, and I loved it.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
I was like, wait, this is me, this is me,
like like dancing like in this circle to like Cardi
B or something like.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
It was funny. It was really funny.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
And I had a great conversation and all the girls
were like absolutely beautiful, Not that that matters, but they
were really beautiful, and I was like wow, yeah, and
they're crazy.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
So you found your home.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
The second they started playing Cardi B, you knew you belonged.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
And the second they started like jumping up and down
and like twerking and having a good time.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
So what was your brush experience?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Like everyella, mine was a lot different. Mine started in January,
second semester, and it was like in the brink of winter.
So I'm not gonna lie. That was probably the most
miserable time, like ever. I was in my skirt tights
and this like little top walking to house house. It
was like negative wind chill. It was like it was

like negative three degrees.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I think, no, yeah, I mean Michigan gets really cold
in the winter, if you guys.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
But that was my That was my worst winter at
Michigan since being there my junior. Now obviously not there
this winter, but like last year was so much more
mild comarage to freshman year, so the weather made is
super hard and I was also, oh, I think I
was Do I go on acutane?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:21):
I was on acutane so my skin felt like it
was going to crack off anyways, But besides that, I
had it for I think like around a month or
at least like three weeks. Who open house, Yeah, it
was the list.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Each round was a weekend. It's what it's open house
round Sisterhood and then philanthropy.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Open house, philanthropy Sisterhood, than pres and open house is
virtual and then you go, I think from sixteen to
I think it's twelve right after open house.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Okay, see, I think we did open house philanthropy and
then preth or we didn't have sister run no or
no okay, actually I think it was open house, Sisterhood
and PREF. But during PREF they like explained what our
philanthropy was in like.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
A comed Yeah. Yeah, then like right after open house
you start going to the houses. So like as soon
as I went to the houses, like then I really
knew where I wanted to like be.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
But you you were conflicted a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, I was conflicted because, like I said, I had
first semester friends, and I think you're under the inception
that like you're all going to go the same place,
but like obviously you're gonna connect with different girls in
different ways. So by the end of it, I was
down to two like kind of the whole time. But
when I had a summit only two for pref I
(09:47):
was debating between which one to drop.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Which part of the process do you guys think was
the most challenging.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Last year when were rushing, we weren't allowed to chew gum,
say rush talk about boys, alcohol, going out that standard.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Yeah, but what was the most challenging when you were
rushing for a sorority? Like what part it was the
most challenging for you? Or was it not challenging because
the second you heard Cardi B you knew where you belonged.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
The most challenging was at the end, I called my sisters,
and I was between when Sigdell.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Oh, I remember this, you were in between two too.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, and I really like this one girl who rushed me.
But you know what, at the end of the day,
I knew Sigdell.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Was like more my vibe.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
But I was like, really in between the two, you
just like have to just like go with like you
really think was more your vibe.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
And I was like, yeah, that's Sigdell.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I think that's the hardest part. I mean I was
stuck between two.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well you only haven eight sororities at your school, right, Yeah, yeah,
I mean I guess the most challenging part is just
like when you're debating like which ones to drop and
which ones to keep.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
And I also like being in a sorority because being
in a sorority and you get like mixtures with like fraternities,
and then you meet a whole bunch of boys and
that's always fun.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Yeah, that is fun. I mean you get to meet people,
obviously make friends. Us three, we didn't have any legacy
connections when we were rushing for a sorority. We were
the first generation really in our family to go to college.
So the sorority is you know, asked us back based
(11:44):
on our personalities and our connections with them. But yeah,
we no one and our family went to college besides us, you're.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Real, and we all went to different colleges and we
all endrow up in different sororities as well.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah we did. I mean Mom went to Berkeley and
got her associates, but she did not rush a sorority.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Yeah, Mom went to college. Don't tell people that Mom
didn't go to college.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, but we are like the first generation to really
go to school and graduate with a bachelor's degree.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Will she stay at college like dorm like we did.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, no, she wasn't allowed to.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
I know.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
But I'm saying we are the first generation to really
go to school, go away, get our bachelor's degree. Like
the way we all experienced college is very different than
our parents and aunts. And yeah, I don't think any
of our uncles, I.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Mean we bad parties for our Yeah, like part is insane.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
They still do bad parties.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I know.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
And like if you were to tell No One of that,
she's like kid five stacles.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Yeah, no idea what that off it is?
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I think because Mom never experienced it, she would like
encourage us to do it. She was like excited for us.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
She was so excited she wanted us to do everything
that she didn't do. So going into that, what is parents'
weekend like for you guys? I mean, I know what
it was like for me. Mom is not a frat
party girl. She really doesn't like the frat parties that much.
She's a good sport. She'll come, she'll hang out for
(13:27):
a little bit. But I totally understand. It's such a
different situation when she's in overcrowded places like bars and
frat parties. I mean, she is recognized very very quickly,
and it's more so than her taking photos the entire
time instead of really enjoying parents' weekend with me. So
(13:53):
because I went to school so close, it was easy
for her to kind of just pop in. We could
go to the game. The game was a something that
she enjoyed because we just sat in our own section,
and if we did a parent's tailgate, because it wasn't
really near the frats, it was on a different campus,
and then we would go watch the game. But yeah,
(14:15):
but it was fun. I just think obviously, you know
trees better than frat parties.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Yeah, No, it was similar at mine.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I mean she came for a game day and I
only would take her to the tailgates if they were
like not crowded, if that makes sense, because otherwise it's
like too overwhelming. I remember her Louis came for the
USC game. I guess it was my sophomore year, first semester,
and I felt so bad because it's not usually that crowded,
(14:46):
but because we've never played them before, it was actually
the most crazy I've ever seen. And usually when you
go into the bake house it's very quick, like takes
two seconds. So I took them through the student section.
We were like almost like in a mosh pit, Like
we were like neck and neck with people pushing. It
(15:06):
was so bad. I felt terrible.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
It's just different, you know, and like gets on. It's
like things that we can't control.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
No, yeah, and then and then we got to like
our normal seats and like that was fine, but exactly, yeah,
like just like less time.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
She's such a good sport and she really does it
and like doesn't mine because obviously we want her there
for a parents' weekend. She wants to be there, but
sometimes when it's too crowded, it's just it's too much.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, I'll take her to like the activities at my
Soty house. So they do a lot of stuff in
the front yard. They do that stuff is really cute. Yeah,
and then we'll just like go dinner one of my
favorite places. Yeah uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
So yeah, when mom came to visit me, I had
to bring her an electric fan to the door.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
But my fan, it is really good. It's like a
dice and like it really just like.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Just like I've spent eighty bucks on it and it
works perfect on Amazon. I had to it gets really
hot here, like I sweat and it looks disgusting. I'm
not doing that, Like, no one's catching me dripping sweat.
That's a gross And like at the Doughty's there's not pools,
and if there is a pool, I'm not going in
that pool.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Like yeah, I would hope not.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
Disgusting like du I wouldn't. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
No, So, like everyone was trying to get me to
go down the water side the one time, I'm.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Like, how was it for mom?
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Though, I'm explaining my college experience and I'll tell you
Mom's after.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
And everyone got feet in hand stuff.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
Something after they went down the water slide kishi like fungus.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah that hand foot mouth.

Anyways, so Mom was in the crowd, like like putting
the fan in her and like everyone kept asking her
for photos. It was really freaking annoying, just because I
I wanted to dance, I want and everyone like taking
photos or and like she stayed for like thirty minutes,
and oh, Johanna was like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
I'm out of here too.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
It's so hot, I'm sweating, and I was like, deuces, girls,
I'm staying for a little bit longer, and then went.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Back to my apartment and laid out.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
By my pool.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Well yeah, I mean it's different. I feel like when
they go visit you at Tampa, it's you could make
more of a relaxing weekend out of it, especially because
you're on the beach.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
We went to the beach and tang all day and Mom,
we sat in the durroombrolls got really ten.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Mom ordered food, o'donna ordered food.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
We eat.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
It was like sands the beach all day. It was
really nice.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
And but the day before that, my sorority was throwing
authority for Parents' weekend, so I wanted to take my
mom to that and then at night we went to
dinner and I took all Gianna out.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
My mom didn't want to go out, so she just
stayed home.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
That's good. I mean, I think parents' weekend definitely can
be a lot for her, but it is fun because
she could do different things each one of our schools.
When it's a little commerce, she can go to the
sorority house and come to parent events that we hosted
our sorority house. Milania, you have the luxury of being
in the sun, which we obviously all enjoy. So you know,
(18:14):
just doing things in little increments and making sure it's
not too overwhelming.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Yeah, I mean she does come to everything though.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
She comes to everything, and she's amazing and doesn't have
a problem with it. But what's also nice about my area.
We go to Birmingham, you did, like an hour outside
of ann oarb It's like kind of a Morstown Mount
Clair area. It's beautiful, so there's a lot of shopping there.
Really great well, because like you want to go out,
like I actually appreciate having a more chill weekend when
(18:42):
mom's there. So we'll go to Birmingham and they have
like a really great mall, like short Hills type mall.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah when Yeah, my mom obviously enjoys doing that. Like
by me. It was hard because like Rutgers, it was
so close to home. So if I want to have
a chill weeknd my mom, then I would just go home.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah, he came home a lot in college. I remember
seeing you a lot.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Well. I also a year and a half of my
college experience was during COVID. Oh wait really yeah, I
went home April my freshman year. I didn't go back
to school until my junior year.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
You're lying, that's so sad. Oh that is sad. I'm
so sorry that happened to you. Yeah, it sucks.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Oh my god, I hate COVID for that. I made
a lot of people like miss out and like their
graduations and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
I felt so bad.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah it was rough, but but yeah, so that's why
there it's fun when mom comes and visits you girls,
because there's different things to do, and I think that's
why I even encouraged you guys to go far and
experience and do everything. But when she would come and
visit me, it's like when she was tapped out. I
was like, it's fine, go home, I'll see you, like
next weekend.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
I was gonna say, there's something called Hyde Park here
and Mom likes to go shopping there. It's like it's
like imagine short hills, but all outside, like all outside
with like palm trees.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
Like a nice outdoor mall.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Then right, it's an outdoor mall and you just walk
and there's a bunch of restaurants and like Saphora, like
Lulu Lemon, just like everything, and me and Mom go
there and you can take pictures there. It's so pretty
and it's called Hyde Park. Everyone in Tampa knows what
Hyde Park is. It's really it's really cute spot. And
like during the holidays, they put Christmas trees, Halloween, they
(20:30):
decorated for Halloween. There's a pumpkin patch there. I was
so happy during a Halloween because I wanted to go
to Conklin Farm so badly and there was a pumpkin
patch in Hyde Park.
