Portland got us on their first first win ever, so

Uh O, man, I obtusly been traveling. Bro. I gotta

all their corporate people and be going there and kind
of guest speaking and meet up with them folks. That's
been kind of cool. Uh. Workouts have like ramped up
more so you know, it's kind of just gonna be

get to enjoy the off season. Like I said, I
haven't had this much time in a minute, so I'm
just trying to just take it all for what it is.
And yeah, man, I don't know. I think the conference
finals apparently here on our side, so it's always fun
to watch. This is the first year in a long
time I've actually like watched the playoffs primes as opposed. Like,
you know, when you're playing, it's one thing, but like
in other off season, I just kind of just it's

took time away. I never really just enjoyed the game
when you was I was assaulted, you know what I mean, enjoyed.

But yeah, it'd be pretty fun. It'd be pretty fun.

I I was, I was gonna watch the game seven
last night Detroit Calves, and I looked at the box
score and I was like, you know what, maybe not.
You think they just got tired. No, like two game
sevens in a row. That's that's a little bit exhausting.

Yeah, on both sides, because you know, the Caves they
had a Game seven, but they're a very experienced group.
You know, we played against them last year and they
rtually the same team without you know, they didn't have
James Harden last year, which obviously is big. But I
think Detroit is they're very gritty, they're very tough, and
they're built like for the moment. But the skill level
that you need at this point in the playoffs has

to match up. I think Kate only had like thirteen points,
but he shoot the ball thirty thirty five times a game,
Like he needs somebody else to be able to step up.
You know, if Tobias Harris isn't on, then you know,
I don't really know where the scoring isstruation comes from.
You know, they did. They got some contributions from like
Dennis Jenkins, and I like seeing the Marcus statser kid
get off at times. You know, sorry, towns have played hard,

but like they need another like focal point or another
piece to get over the hump, you know, get to
the conference finals, get to the finals, and Cleveland just
has that man there, I have to give a big
shout out to their bigs. I mean, Evan Mobley and
Jared Allen played really well this series. I think that
uh Derren and Stewart, those guys that kind of try
to punk them at the beginning of the series and

they end up playing through it. You know, they prevailed.
So again, I just you know, kudos and respectful respectors.
Do I think that they just have a good talented
squad And honestly, then, but the Knick's gonna be interesting, man,
I don't really know what to expect there. You know,
I think the guard is gonna be rocking. You know,
it's a tough place to play, but experienced group, man,

I mean I was just gonna ask you because like,
do you think that there's something too like having a flow? Okay,
so CALVS played last night, They're gonna play on Tuesday.
They don't really have much rest, but like they're in
like the game flow, whereas the Knicks they've waited for
I don't even know a week a week and a
half since they last play because the sweat.

Yeah, to your point, there is tired legs, right. The
Cavaliers just played two game seven series, but they got
a rhythm, you know what I'm saying. They just they're
coming off the emotions. I think that's where people don't
understand the playoffs is the emotional toll that it takes
on your body. Game sevens are emotional, bro, I don't

care if you blow the other team out, you know,
whether they're great emotions, whether it's bad emotions. It is.
Draining physically is one thing, but like to be emotionally
and physically drained, that'll take a toll on you. So
that Game one's gonna be a little tough. But the
other side is the Knicks who haven't played in you know,
damn near a week. So you're right, they're kind of
practicing and we all know they're in the playoffs. You
don't practice very hard. You can't really simulate, you know,

game time experience. You just kind of have to depend on,
you know, your culture and your coaching and at that
point and obviously just uh just will power at that point.
So I think that there's a slight edge to the
Cavaliers there. But you know, don't don't underestimate the emotional
tolld like that goes on during the playoffs and how

much that can drain your body and drain just you know,
you where withal.

Oh my gosh, I remember this like so badly, so vivid.
We obviously we were in game seven's because we had
best of five series before, but it was like Game
five Phoenix versus Seattle. I was in Seattle, and it's
like it's exhausting because it's like schematically you're thinking about
all these things, you're breaking down all the plays, and

then it's like you're also trying to just like fight
through because of the fatigue. It's for like the listeners
and the viewers. It's it's really hard to explain, but
like when you when you have every single play kind
of clipped as how you're guarding it and how you're
doing this and where are you forcing this defender? Uh,

it's mentally and physically tolling.

Like you said, for sure, undoubted man, And I just
think for Uh, it's funny, man. I look at the
Knicks roster and they're just they're kind of built for
the moment in my opinion, you know what I mean.
Like you've got guys like Mitchell Robinson that you need
to start and come off the bench and really just
go out there and just be a bruiser, you know
what I mean. He's a big body. I mean he's

probably like seven foot two seventy two seventy five, you know,
and he can just lean on Mobiley lean on guys
like Jared Allen. Right. Then you've got a really good
backcourt with guys like Josh Hart and you know, kind
of like in Jose Alvarada come out of the bench
that can really go out there and just pick up
you know, you're Donovan Mitchell's, You're James Harden's full court
and you know, make them come off the ball. It's

a luxury to have a shooting big, you know, like
you know, like Carl Towns and whatnot who kind of
stretch the floor and open the offense. But like you
have that hard hat big like I said, And they
also have a huck porty come off the bench as well.
I like to him playing against him this this year
because of his contributions as well. So it has the
makings to be a really good fight it out series.

I'm gonna give the slight edge to the Knicks just
because of Nixon that we talked about, you know, I'll
say Nixon, I'll say Nixon six. I'll say Nixon six.
My prediction. I wish on that because I don't think
it's gonna it's not gonna be a sweep. It's not

gonna be no blowout the business and that, Like, I
think every game is gonna be decently close. I think
the first game, to your point, is gonna be tough
for both sides, you know, coming off what are coming
off of. But in general, like as you know, Stude, like,
playoffs are about matchups, you know what I mean. I
look at Detroit versus Orlando in the first round. Those

were great matchups. Like Paula Benchero and like k gave
us like a duel for the fucking ages. That shit
was like fun to watch. Right then you go back
to this series with with Cleveland and Detroit. Again, it's
about matchups and that's the reason why you know it
went all the way to seven and the same thing here.
I think they match up really well. Well, you know,

Last question on this like, who do you think is
the X factor in this series?

Okay, I'll go for both sides. I think for the
Knicks the X factor. I think the cop out answer
is Josh Hart. Everybody's gonna say that mine is Michel Bridges.
I think that he hasn't had the best playoffs per
se number wise, but if he can get hot, they're
a completely different ball club in my opinion, because you

have so much more to worry about. When Jayalen Brunson
starts breaking guys down and getting downhill, or if he's
double team and he can hit his swing man and
he starts hitting, that opens up the entire series for
the Knicks obviously. Og Ananobi, I think he's been battling.
I'm not sure if it's a hamstring or battling something.
So he's been having a really good playoffs, so I
wouldn't call him an X factor, But I say my
X factor is probably mckel Bridges for the Knicks, and

then for the Calves. I'm either gonna go with Sam Merrill.
I think he was really big for them last night
in the game sevening I watched because when he gets hot,
I mean, you got shooters everywhere, you know what I mean.
I think I don't know how many threes, but he
had like twenty three something points. And Sam Merril's more
than just like a spot up shooter, like he can
kind of he's good with movement and he's he's actually

tougher than he looks, kind of get downhill. So I'll
give him that and potentially Max Struce. I think that
he's one of their tougher guys. Yeah, I think he's
one of their tougher guys. Man. He picks up full court.
He's gritty. I mean, he hits big shots. And you know,

step up, and we'll see who that is.

So we played them two years in a row, one
in the semi finals and obviously last year in Eastern
Conference finals, and it was it was such a dream

come true for him because obviously he wanted to be
on this stage, but he gets to live vicariously through me.
So I mean it's amazing for him. But from a
personal experience, like it's the mecca, bro, and I really
rock with Knick fans because bro, like they're just real,
Bro Like they they love basketball. Right in your front row,
it's gonna be all the celebrities, any celebrity you can

think of, all the ones you watched on TV, your rappers,
you listen to recording artists, anything, They're all gonna be
right there front row. So sometimes that's kind of a

I was like chasing a ball out out of bounds,

to come to Mass Square gardens. So I don't know, man,

you know in the NBA. Myself playing in the Garden,
it's beautiful.

Same. I loved it when when we used to play there,
like we used to play Liberty used to be at MSG,
so like until the Size bought out the Liberty, they
were at the Garden. But yeah, even in college, like
playing there was really really cool. Okay, moving to the
other series, Spurs Versus Thunder, what we think that one's

like to happen right now.

Yeah, So this one is fun for me, man, because
because you know, obviously during the series during the season,
the Spurs won that like four to one. If you
include the n season tournament, they beat them four times
to one. Right, But as we all know, the regular
season is not the playoffs. I think we're gonna get

a pissed off Winby. And I think a pissed off
Winby is uh it's good for the league. You know.
Obviously Sga just got his back to back MVP, which
well deserved. You know, I'm not taking anything away from him.
I think he's proven, you know, you know at his
position that you know, he's one of one. But I
also think that Winby had a really good year and

he might have somewhat been expecting an MVP award, you know.
And I think this kind of is very reminiscent of
I think it was Hakeem Olajahwan David Robinson that won
the m v P and ahem olajuwon, came into the
conference finals, just pissed off Bro and just busted his ass.
It was one of the funniest things. But he was motivated,

you know, from not winning the MVP Award and I
want wondering people get the same that same thing from Wimby.
But from a team standpoint, I think this is gonna
be a very even series. Uh you know, I I'm
gonna give the edge to the Thunder just because of
straight experience and they're just a well oiled machine. Man,
there's not a lot of you can't make a lot
of mistakes with the Thunder, Like defensively, they're scrappy as hell.

You get past the first guy, there's next guy coming.
But with the Spurs, Wimby is a one man wrecking crew.
You know from experience that he was guarding me, but
he was also guarding five other people or four of
the people on the floor, you know what I mean.
It was it was very interesting the way they use
him defensively. So yeah, man, I'm curious your thoughts because
I mean, just as an outside viewer of these these

are obviously two marquee teams.

Yeah, I mean, I think this is the series that
obviously I feel like can definitely go to seven just
because of all the dramas and narratives on the court
off the court, like okay, see obviously has the uh
the vets that have been in these positions and won

these big games before, and obviously won championship championships before.
But the Spurs are like the young team, Like they
have some guards Castle who's just like all over the
place and really kind of gonna get it, get up
and try to change the pace of the game. So
I don't know. I think this one is like seeing

Game one is really gonna like give you an idea
of what to expect in the series. And obviously, like
what you want to do if you're the away team
is you want to you want to steal one, steal
one on the road, right because then you go back
home feeling a lot more comfortable. So I don't know.
I think the thunder hold in seven, but I could

also be very wrong.

I mean, his time will tell. I think history shows
that these conference finals it's not a lot of like
a lot of blowouts. This is going to be a
very competitive kind of like you know, gripey thing. I
think health is gonna be very paramount for this series

you know with an ankles frame. Yeah, you got Jalen Williams,

you know, on the okay C side, who's just now
coming back from a hamstring injury. You know, those are
two key guys, And honestly, I don't I don't really
know what to expect from the health side, because it's
time of the year. You've already played damn near one
hundred games and your body is talking to you, your
mind's talking to you. I mean, it's it's hard, man,
It's it's a it's a tough environment. But there's nothing

be very fun in my opinion.

You know, he didn't get to really play with Philly,
you know that in that environment. But it seems like

the city, the organization, the fans have really embraced him
and it's kind of a beautiful thing to see from Afar.
He's someone who is just unapologetically himself, you know what
I mean. But he's also a good player, so you know,
when he goes out there, he pops his shit. You

He'll go out there and give be twenty and then
make a TikTok afterwards. So I don't know, man, We'll see.

Yeah, He's definitely someone that loves the moment. So I'm
sure he's gonna have like an extra burst to him
when when he gets out on the court for sure.

Lebron as a free agent, just like off like off Riff,
you think he's gonna go anywhere or he's gonna go

Ah, Yes, fifty million dollar question. Let's see, there's a
couple of key factors. So Austin Reeves had a really
good year this year. He's he's I've always had respect
for his game. I used to actually used to watch
him in Oklahoma. He's he's a bucket. He can play.

But it also puts the Lakers in a very interesting
position because he can walk, you know what I mean,
he can find another team that's willing to pay him.
And if they had to pay him all that money
because he eligible for like don't quote me the exact number,
but it's like one fifty eight. He's eligible for a
lot of money if they commit to him long term,

and you have Luka Dancis on that roster as well,
and you're still trying to get free agents, I think
it's gonna be very hard to give Lebron exactly what
he wants. Yeah, and he's also going to be forty
two potentially there forty two next year, so I can
see him going elsewhere and you know, getting the money
that he wants on his way out and also getting

get chance to you know, kind of play and still
be himself. So my gut goes with he'll probably be
somewhere else, But I don't know, Man, Lebron kind of
has a way of getting what he wants. So if
that's what the Lakers, it's with the Lakers. But you know,
if not, you know, we're gonna have to kind of
see what how they want to retool that roster because

you do have to keep Luka Doncis happy. You know,
you know, you uh, he's here's your future. Uh. He's
one of the best players in the league. So I
think that you have to do what's right. Do what's
best for him or do right by him.

Maybe he's gonna go to the Warriors and team up
with Steph like everybody's been saying they've been trying to
do for years.

You know, I think that people. I think Golden State
is very underrated market. You know, Kevin Durant went out
there and the basketball is the basketball, won a championship,
was amazing, got his first one. The business side bro
of San Francisco Valley, like all that bro that does
wonders for people's career. Man, look at Andrea Gadala, you

look at the steps, the Festest, the Zieli's, Like the
guys have been able to go out there and you know,
obviously play some good hoops, but make some incredible connections.

He's he's been able to go to La makes connections there.
But you know, you get him in Silicon Valley and
he's one of the faces of your team out there,
the valuation of your team goes up off rip. You know,

that's more people coming worldwide to watch one of the
best players ever do it alongside another one of the
best players ever do it and still get the market benefits,
so you know, go say it wouldn't be bad. You know,
I don't not sure if they're every team's competing to win.
Don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I they're
necessary competing for a championship next season per se. But

their moves will be very telling, you know, if that's
what they want to do.

them the nod because we've obviously won the past couple
of gold medals, but it's becoming more and more, more
and more of an internationally grown game, and they're starting
to take over. To say the least, the world is
taken over at that so, you know, for context, you know,
second place was Jokic Serbia, third place was Wimby France,

and then fourth place was Luca Slovenia, and then fifth
was Kate here in the Great State of Texas, Arlington.
That is. So you know, we're we're we're pretty we're
pretty far off, you know. You know, so what are
your thoughts there?

I mean, tough, tough competition. I feel like, obviously shout
out to s GA for winning back to back MVPs.
I think that it's it's a hard thing to do
better than you did the year before, and he did that.
I also would like us to circle back to, however,
many episodes ago, when we voted, I think you said
SGA would win MVP, right, and I said, Kate, yeah,

that's all right, and I listen, I was trying to mix.
I was hoping for something, something, something.

American, yeah, which I would have loved that ship.

But I don't know. Obviously they're they're all like top talents,
they're all international superstars. But I think it's also like
where you what team you're on, and and how that
team is adapted to you as a player, which is
like helping you create the best season possible, you know

what I mean. I don't like when I see the
the m v P. I'm not just like international players
are kind of taking over basketball. I just feel like
they're all great players, and to have an MVP season
is you have to have like top notch. You have
to have like the best of the best every night.

To that point, like, I kind of want to talk
about how the NS basketball has taken over, because you know,
you see it, man, when you you've got first experience, you know,
when you go and play in the Olympics or the
World Cups, like they're right there, you know. I mean,
France has given the men and women problems over the
past couple of years, and the world of definitely caught up,
you know, to the talent level you know that we

have here in America. I don't think that they've I'm biased, bro,
I'm America's fucks. I don't think they've like surpassed us.
But I'd probably say that their youth development is at
a much better stage than our youth development is. You know.
I think here in you know, in the American way
now is to you know, start recruiting kids in second

grade and making mixtapes for kids in second grade, and
you know, it's become more highlight culture than it has
actual development and teaching of the game, and it's definitely
hurting us. Whereas you go to China, you go to Serbia,
you go to France, and these kids are like machines, man.
It's it's it's actually really incredible to see, if you know,
you see their workshops and their camps, and you know,

kids subconsciously start to pick up things so much quicker
at younger ages, so you actually feed them the right things,
they're going to turn out to be the Whimbies of
the world, the yolkices of the world. So youth development
is something and I think that they have surpassed us in,
you know, and overtaken us in.

I definitely agree. I think that, like what I see
from you youth development here in the United States is
a lot of people are like putting these cameras and
putting these kids on social media and creating mixtapes and
like all these things, and it's kind of like like
don't peak too soon type of thing. You know, where

there's there's talents that are continuing to grow and that
like slowly build and build and build. And when you're
when you're playing overseas or internationally, you're able to be
around professionals a lot more professional teams. You can play
as a pro a lot younger. Luca was like in
Real Madrid when he was a teenager, that that experience

you can't replicate, you know, So how did that is?
That's very beneficial?

Mm hmm yeah, I know even now, like in the
high school game is messed up so now because when
we were coming up, it's like you're grinding for a scholarship,
you know what I mean, grinding just to play in
front of these coaches, or you're traveling internationally. Now it's like, bro,
you have kids that can potentially make money right away,
don't even have to earn it as much, you know,
and don't don't be wrong, these kids are definitely earning

the check. But you know, the grind isn't the same
as the grind was back then, and you know, it's
something that's so lost upon us now. Is it's funny
because we were taught, I guess millennials and whatnot. We
were taught that if you work hard, you can accomplish
and you can have anything that you want, you know
what I mean. And now we're grown, and you know,
there's a lot of people who will say, well, shit,

I'm working hard, but this guy, this agent happens to
know this guy, you know what I mean, I can't
get a job now or this guy's representation, you know,
is being able to get him a job and I
worked hard. So gen Z is not really adopted that
whole work hard mentality. It's almost like a woe is
Me kind of thing that's going on, you know, And
I think that you got to snap out of it
at some point, you know what I mean. Yes, Like

you know, there's everybody wants to meet his lead. There's
only four hundred and fifty spots like in the NBA.
You know, there's only so many spots in the w NBA.
But you know, from a youth development stage like them,
highlights are only to get you so far, you know
what I mean. It's just the longevity of the game
is not going to be on your side, you know
when it comes to that, So it's a shige spot.

I want to ask you a question, like, you know,
I feel like for like women's development, you know, you guys,
I think the real cop out answer is like, oh,
the women are so much more fundamentally sound than the
guys everybody. Like one is like right, I was gonna
ask you like one just two two pole questions like one,
do you personally kind of take like offense to that?
Or in two like which what was the difference between

like development between like men and women at like a
younger age. I mean of the fundamentally sound thing.

Yeah, I mean I feel like people say that like
women are more fundamentally sound because they just don't want
to say that men are more athletic, you know what
I mean. Yeah, it's like where some of us play
abouts can play above the rim, but like not all
of us. I think that we have to like pay

attention more. You know, you have to really figure out
what you're good at, because you can't always rely on
like athletic ability to like get you over that hump
or get you a spot in the league or things
like that. But I don't know. It's it's an interesting
question for sure, and I think that do I like it?

you know what I mean. It's just different because I
feel like I feel like as a pro now it's
like you see for some of these young kids getting drafted,
they're drafted on potential of what they can be. But
that just started happening. You guys do that for have
done that for a long time. So we're able to

like have a moment where players can come in and
they can build. They're not expected to like make an
impact right away. Whereas you know, if you're if your
top pick listen, you come into this league, you need
to make an impact right away. You need to prove
why why you're number one pick.

Yeah, you got to produce. That's real, man. I appreciate
that insight because I just think that again, it's just
such a cop out. You know, when I'm hearing arguments
about you know, the women women's and the men's game,
it's like, oh, yeah, well, women have to be so
much more fundamentally sound than the guys because they can't
rely on their athleticism. And this is that and it's like,
I don't know, I don't know, you know, so I
was just curious, like your perspective on it.

So I think I think it's, you know, you want
to be a smart basketball player. You want to be
able to like make reads, you know. I think that
on both sides, you see players that have come along
the way from from youth, right, youth development, come gone
through high school, gone through college, whatever, and still can't
like make reads on based on picking roll schemes and
and stuff like that. Where it's like, right, that's probably

the problem. That's probably where things are getting lost. It's
like internationally, they're they're repping this, you know, they're working
on it and seeing different schemes in different coverages all
the time, and it's like that that experience you just
can't recreate.

Yeah, and I think they watched a lot more film
overseas two at a younger age that we do. You know,
I mean there's two it's twofold thing because one, if
you're a professional at fifteen sixteen years old, okay, obvious
you're watching film. But I think that they really really
break down film study. You know. My trainer, my old trainer,
I should say, he actually works for the San Antonio Spurs. Now.
His name is Tim Martin. You know, he's a great

and renowned trainer in the state of Texas. And he
was telling me about Wimby years ago. Bro, years ago,
he was saying, Bro, I got this French kid. You know,
he's you know, he can shoot, you know, he can defend,
you know, he's long, and you know, he just he's
a great kid. Man. I really think he's going to be,
you know, take over the league one day. And at
that point, I'm like, all right, bro, Like we've all

heard that before, you know what I mean. But one
thing he did with Wimby was Winby would be he
be in France and then Tim would be here in Dallas.
He would watch film with him through FaceTime or through
WhatsApp or you know whatever. But he'd be like breaking
down the film. And then when he was only like

I'm going back to when I'm thirteen fourteen years old again,

better every single year. He's been leads get better every

on his team. And Detroy Pistons are not the same

another good one as well. I think depending on their situation,
what they do there there, he's obviously Minnisola's not the
same without him be there. That's a good one. I
still got to give Jalen Brown some grace too. I
think that what he showed this year was pretty damn impressive.

like a gap year for the Celtics, and you know,
although they did, you know, lose in the first round

of the playoffs, they had an incredible season and he
was ahead of the snake, you know for all of that,
and he he held his own you know, and he's uh,
he's someone who I think has the potential to the
potentially win the MVP one day as well.

great players and like everybody's from kind of different places.

the UfW Metroplex, Bedford, Texas. To be in Sacks and
you know, a community is something that's always been very
important to me. I have some very special things going
on in my high school, but I'm not allowed to
talk about that yet. So you know, we'll get there
before training camp. I promise I got some big things
coming there. But what I have done, I've actually empartnered

with Empowering the Masses and that's a nonprofit food bank
here in Dallas that combats food and security and sports
underserved communities through like food distribution and empowerment programs. And
for me personally, I'm going to donate a million dollars
and that can potentially help feed Mini Mouse has nine
to ten million meals just you know, from that donation itself,

you know, from the food and secure and foods and
security is something that's always hit home, you know, with
me and just you know, the people who are just
I guess I don't like undeserved. It's like I guess
the term for it. You know. I have my nonprofit,
so it's called WARMTH and its stands for Workers Role Models,
and that's always been centered around the homelessness and food

and security. So that was an Indianapolis based thing in Milwaukee,
and I wanted to bring some of that to Dallas
and empowering the masses. I've actually donated to them. It's funny.
It's funny how it stuff goes full circle. So about
four years ago, some guy was trolling me online. So
some dude was like, some dude was talking shit online
basically after a game and whatnot. And I actually, I'm

a petty mother the fucking d of the day. So
I actually found him on venbo and I donated a pinion.
I said, yoh, here's a penny for your thoughts. And
I was like, wait, thank him, wait a second, Like
I can I can make something out of this, And
I actually started a venbo basically for Dallas they had
just got hit with a really bad ice storm, Like
people went out without power for like weeks. You know,

people were you know struggling Becausedallas wn't get very cold,
but when it does, like it's like a snowpocalypse down here.
So through that little Penny for your Thoughts thing, I
got people to donate a bunch of money, you know,
to the Venbo thing. It all started from the guys
you know, talking noise, and I was able to actually
send those funds and ended up being like I almost
like a hundred thousand dollars man. I I ended up

sending all that to empowering the masses. So that's when
I got started with them back in the day. Uh
But yeah, no, there again, there's just a food patch
here in Dallas, and I'm very passionate about and I'm
just kind of excited just to start a partnership up
with them and you know, just to support you know,
my communit.

had a Game seven, but they're a very experienced group.

they're built like for the moment. But the skill level
that you need at this point in the playoffs has

to match up. I think Kate only had like thirteen points,
but he shoot the ball thirty thirty five times a game,
Like he needs somebody else to be able to step up.
You know, if Tobias Harris isn't on, then you know,
I don't really know where the scoring isstruation comes from.
You know, they did. They got some contributions from like
Dennis Jenkins, and I like seeing the Marcus statser kid
get off at times. You know, sorry, towns have played hard,

but like they need another like focal point or another
piece to get over the hump, you know, get to
the conference finals, get to the finals, and Cleveland just
has that man there, I have to give a big
shout out to their bigs. I mean, Evan Mobley and
Jared Allen played really well this series. I think that
uh Derren and Stewart, those guys that kind of try
to punk them at the beginning of the series and

they end up playing through it. You know, they prevailed.

Do I think that they just have a good talented
squad And honestly, then, but the Knick's gonna be interesting, man,

it's a tough place to play, but experienced group, man,

so CALVS played last night, They're gonna play on Tuesday.

half since they last play because the sweat.

Yeah, to your point, there is tired legs, right. The
Cavaliers just played two game seven series, but they got
a rhythm, you know what I'm saying. They just they're
coming off the emotions. I think that's where people don't
understand the playoffs is the emotional toll that it takes
on your body. Game sevens are emotional, bro, I don't

care if you blow the other team out, you know,
whether they're great emotions, whether it's bad emotions. It is.
Draining physically is one thing, but like to be emotionally
and physically drained, that'll take a toll on you. So
that Game one's gonna be a little tough. But the
other side is the Knicks who haven't played in you know,
damn near a week. So you're right, they're kind of
practicing and we all know they're in the playoffs. You
don't practice very hard. You can't really simulate, you know,

game time experience. You just kind of have to depend on,
you know, your culture and your coaching and at that
point and obviously just uh just will power at that point.
So I think that there's a slight edge to the
Cavaliers there. But you know, don't don't underestimate the emotional
tolld like that goes on during the playoffs and how

much that can drain your body and drain just you know,
you where withal.

Oh my gosh, I remember this like so badly, so vivid.
We obviously we were in game seven's because we had
best of five series before, but it was like Game
five Phoenix versus Seattle. I was in Seattle, and it's
like it's exhausting because it's like schematically you're thinking about
all these things, you're breaking down all the plays, and

then it's like you're also trying to just like fight
through because of the fatigue. It's for like the listeners
and the viewers. It's it's really hard to explain, but
like when you when you have every single play kind
of clipped as how you're guarding it and how you're
doing this and where are you forcing this defender? Uh,

it's mentally and physically tolling.

Like you said, for sure, undoubted man, And I just
think for Uh, it's funny, man. I look at the
Knicks roster and they're just they're kind of built for
the moment in my opinion, you know what I mean.
Like you've got guys like Mitchell Robinson that you need
to start and come off the bench and really just
go out there and just be a bruiser, you know
what I mean. He's a big body. I mean he's

probably like seven foot two seventy two seventy five, you know,
and he can just lean on Mobiley lean on guys
like Jared Allen. Right. Then you've got a really good
backcourt with guys like Josh Hart and you know, kind
of like in Jose Alvarada come out of the bench
that can really go out there and just pick up
you know, you're Donovan Mitchell's, You're James Harden's full court
and you know, make them come off the ball. It's

a luxury to have a shooting big, you know, like
you know, like Carl Towns and whatnot who kind of
stretch the floor and open the offense. But like you
have that hard hat big like I said, And they
also have a huck porty come off the bench as well.
I like to him playing against him this this year
because of his contributions as well. So it has the
makings to be a really good fight it out series.

I'm gonna give the slight edge to the Knicks just
because of Nixon that we talked about, you know, I'll
say Nixon, I'll say Nixon six. I'll say Nixon six.
My prediction. I wish on that because I don't think
it's gonna it's not gonna be a sweep. It's not

gonna be no blowout the business and that, Like, I
think every game is gonna be decently close. I think
the first game, to your point, is gonna be tough
for both sides, you know, coming off what are coming
off of. But in general, like as you know, Stude, like,
playoffs are about matchups, you know what I mean. I
look at Detroit versus Orlando in the first round. Those

were great matchups. Like Paula Benchero and like k gave
us like a duel for the fucking ages. That shit
was like fun to watch. Right then you go back
to this series with with Cleveland and Detroit. Again, it's
about matchups and that's the reason why you know it
went all the way to seven and the same thing here.

I think that he hasn't had the best playoffs per
se number wise, but if he can get hot, they're
a completely different ball club in my opinion, because you

have so much more to worry about. When Jayalen Brunson
starts breaking guys down and getting downhill, or if he's
double team and he can hit his swing man and
he starts hitting, that opens up the entire series for
the Knicks obviously. Og Ananobi, I think he's been battling.
I'm not sure if it's a hamstring or battling something.
So he's been having a really good playoffs, so I
wouldn't call him an X factor, But I say my
X factor is probably mckel Bridges for the Knicks, and

then for the Calves. I'm either gonna go with Sam Merrill.
I think he was really big for them last night
in the game sevening I watched because when he gets hot,
I mean, you got shooters everywhere, you know what I mean.
I think I don't know how many threes, but he
had like twenty three something points. And Sam Merril's more
than just like a spot up shooter, like he can
kind of he's good with movement and he's he's actually

the Spurs won that like four to one. If you
include the n season tournament, they beat them four times
to one. Right, But as we all know, the regular

Winby is uh it's good for the league. You know.
Obviously Sga just got his back to back MVP, which
well deserved. You know, I'm not taking anything away from him.
I think he's proven, you know, you know at his

he might have somewhat been expecting an MVP award, you know.
And I think this kind of is very reminiscent of
I think it was Hakeem Olajahwan David Robinson that won

It was one of the funniest things. But he was motivated,

But from a team standpoint, I think this is gonna

gonna give the edge to the Thunder just because of

of mistakes with the Thunder, Like defensively, they're scrappy as hell.

what you want to do if you're the away team

he can find another team that's willing to pay him.
And if they had to pay him all that money

and you have Luka Dancis on that roster as well,
and you're still trying to get free agents, I think
it's gonna be very hard to give Lebron exactly what

that he wants on his way out and also getting

get chance to you know, kind of play and still
be himself. So my gut goes with he'll probably be

has a way of getting what he wants. So if

see what how they want to retool that roster because

and then fourth place was Luca Slovenia, and then fifth
was Kate here in the Great State of Texas, Arlington.
That is. So you know, we're we're we're pretty we're
pretty far off, you know. You know, so what are
your thoughts there?

I mean, tough, tough competition. I feel like, obviously shout
out to s GA for winning back to back MVPs.
I think that it's it's a hard thing to do
better than you did the year before, and he did that.
I also would like us to circle back to, however,
many episodes ago, when we voted, I think you said
SGA would win MVP, right, and I said, Kate, yeah,

that's all right, and I listen, I was trying to mix.
I was hoping for something, something, something.

American, yeah, which I would have loved that ship.

But I don't know. Obviously they're they're all like top talents,
they're all international superstars. But I think it's also like
where you what team you're on, and and how that
team is adapted to you as a player, which is
like helping you create the best season possible, you know

what I mean. I don't like when I see the
the m v P. I'm not just like international players
are kind of taking over basketball. I just feel like
they're all great players, and to have an MVP season
is you have to have like top notch. You have
to have like the best of the best every night.

To that point, like, I kind of want to talk
about how the NS basketball has taken over, because you know,
you see it, man, when you you've got first experience, you know,
when you go and play in the Olympics or the
World Cups, like they're right there, you know. I mean,
France has given the men and women problems over the
past couple of years, and the world of definitely caught up,
you know, to the talent level you know that we

have here in America. I don't think that they've I'm biased, bro,
I'm America's fucks. I don't think they've like surpassed us.
But I'd probably say that their youth development is at
a much better stage than our youth development is. You know.
I think here in you know, in the American way
now is to you know, start recruiting kids in second

grade and making mixtapes for kids in second grade, and
you know, it's become more highlight culture than it has
actual development and teaching of the game, and it's definitely
hurting us. Whereas you go to China, you go to Serbia,
you go to France, and these kids are like machines, man.
It's it's it's actually really incredible to see, if you know,
you see their workshops and their camps, and you know,

kids subconsciously start to pick up things so much quicker
at younger ages, so you actually feed them the right things,
they're going to turn out to be the Whimbies of
the world, the yolkices of the world. So youth development
is something and I think that they have surpassed us in,
you know, and overtaken us in.

I definitely agree. I think that, like what I see
from you youth development here in the United States is
a lot of people are like putting these cameras and
putting these kids on social media and creating mixtapes and
like all these things, and it's kind of like like
don't peak too soon type of thing. You know, where

there's there's talents that are continuing to grow and that
like slowly build and build and build. And when you're
when you're playing overseas or internationally, you're able to be
around professionals a lot more professional teams. You can play
as a pro a lot younger. Luca was like in
Real Madrid when he was a teenager, that that experience

you can't replicate, you know, So how did that is?
That's very beneficial?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Mm hmm yeah, I know even now, like in the
high school game is messed up so now because when
we were coming up, it's like you're grinding for a scholarship,
you know what I mean, grinding just to play in
front of these coaches, or you're traveling internationally. Now it's like, bro,
you have kids that can potentially make money right away,
don't even have to earn it as much, you know,
and don't don't be wrong, these kids are definitely earning
(27:17):
the check. But you know, the grind isn't the same
as the grind was back then, and you know, it's
something that's so lost upon us now. Is it's funny
because we were taught, I guess millennials and whatnot. We
were taught that if you work hard, you can accomplish
and you can have anything that you want, you know
what I mean. And now we're grown, and you know,
there's a lot of people who will say, well, shit,
(27:37):
I'm working hard, but this guy, this agent happens to
know this guy, you know what I mean, I can't
get a job now or this guy's representation, you know,
is being able to get him a job and I
worked hard. So gen Z is not really adopted that
whole work hard mentality. It's almost like a woe is
Me kind of thing that's going on, you know, And
I think that you got to snap out of it
at some point, you know what I mean. Yes, Like

you know, there's everybody wants to meet his lead. There's
only four hundred and fifty spots like in the NBA.
You know, there's only so many spots in the w NBA.
But you know, from a youth development stage like them,
highlights are only to get you so far, you know
what I mean. It's just the longevity of the game
is not going to be on your side, you know
when it comes to that, So it's a shige spot.

I want to ask you a question, like, you know,
I feel like for like women's development, you know, you guys,
I think the real cop out answer is like, oh,
the women are so much more fundamentally sound than the
guys everybody. Like one is like right, I was gonna
ask you like one just two two pole questions like one,
do you personally kind of take like offense to that?
Or in two like which what was the difference between

like development between like men and women at like a
younger age. I mean of the fundamentally sound thing.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Yeah, I mean I feel like people say that like
women are more fundamentally sound because they just don't want
to say that men are more athletic, you know what
I mean. Yeah, it's like where some of us play
abouts can play above the rim, but like not all
of us. I think that we have to like pay

attention more. You know, you have to really figure out
what you're good at, because you can't always rely on
like athletic ability to like get you over that hump
or get you a spot in the league or things
like that. But I don't know. It's it's an interesting
question for sure, and I think that do I like it?

I don't know. Yeah, like there, like it's just different,
you know what I mean. It's just different because I
feel like I feel like as a pro now it's
like you see for some of these young kids getting drafted,
they're drafted on potential of what they can be. But
that just started happening. You guys do that for have
done that for a long time. So we're able to

like have a moment where players can come in and
they can build. They're not expected to like make an
impact right away. Whereas you know, if you're if your
top pick listen, you come into this league, you need
to make an impact right away. You need to prove
why why you're number one pick.

Yeah, you got to produce. That's real, man. I appreciate
that insight because I just think that again, it's just
such a cop out. You know, when I'm hearing arguments
about you know, the women women's and the men's game,
it's like, oh, yeah, well, women have to be so
much more fundamentally sound than the guys because they can't
rely on their athleticism. And this is that and it's like,
I don't know, I don't know, you know, so I
was just curious, like your perspective on it.

So I think I think it's, you know, you want
to be a smart basketball player. You want to be
able to like make reads, you know. I think that
on both sides, you see players that have come along
the way from from youth, right, youth development, come gone
through high school, gone through college, whatever, and still can't
like make reads on based on picking roll schemes and
and stuff like that. Where it's like, right, that's probably

the problem. That's probably where things are getting lost. It's
like internationally, they're they're repping this, you know, they're working
on it and seeing different schemes in different coverages all
the time, and it's like that that experience you just
can't recreate.

Yeah, and I think they watched a lot more film
overseas two at a younger age that we do. You know,
I mean there's two it's twofold thing because one, if
you're a professional at fifteen sixteen years old, okay, obvious
you're watching film. But I think that they really really
break down film study. You know. My trainer, my old trainer,
I should say, he actually works for the San Antonio Spurs. Now.
His name is Tim Martin. You know, he's a great

and renowned trainer in the state of Texas. And he
was telling me about Wimby years ago. Bro, years ago,
he was saying, Bro, I got this French kid. You know,
he's you know, he can shoot, you know, he can defend,
you know, he's long, and you know, he just he's
a great kid. Man. I really think he's going to be,
you know, take over the league one day. And at
that point, I'm like, all right, bro, Like we've all

heard that before, you know what I mean. But one
thing he did with Wimby was Winby would be he
be in France and then Tim would be here in Dallas.
He would watch film with him through FaceTime or through
WhatsApp or you know whatever. But he'd be like breaking
down the film. And then when he was only like
thirteen fourteen years old, you know what I mean. And
I'm going back to when I'm thirteen fourteen years old again,

Like the only film we really had was like Ball

they take that very serious overseas, and it's you know,
I think that's something that's kind of gets as a
lost start as well. It's to your point, being smart,

They do that very well overseas.

kid just because of you know, his situation.

a game. I mean, he's got a chance to get
better every single year. He's been leads get better every
single year. And he's quite literally the most valuable person
on his team. And Detroy Pistons are not the same
without him. Another guy Anthony Edwards, right, Yeah, Yeah, that's

another good one as well. I think depending on their situation,
what they do there there, he's obviously Minnisola's not the
same without him be there. That's a good one. I
still got to give Jalen Brown some grace too. I
think that what he showed this year was pretty damn impressive.
You know, this is supposed to be a quote unquote
like a gap year for the Celtics, and you know,
although they did, you know, lose in the first round

of the playoffs, they had an incredible season and he
was ahead of the snake, you know for all of that,
and he he held his own you know, and he's uh,
he's someone who I think has the potential to the
potentially win the MVP one day as well.

I think those are all great choices. But like also,
I don't I don't feel like it's like America versus International,
you know what I mean. I just think it's like
great players and like everybody's from kind of different places.

important to me. I have some very special things going
on in my high school, but I'm not allowed to

before training camp. I promise I got some big things
coming there. But what I have done, I've actually empartnered

with Empowering the Masses and that's a nonprofit food bank
here in Dallas that combats food and security and sports
underserved communities through like food distribution and empowerment programs. And
for me personally, I'm going to donate a million dollars
and that can potentially help feed Mini Mouse has nine
to ten million meals just you know, from that donation itself,

you know, from the food and secure and foods and
security is something that's always hit home, you know, with
me and just you know, the people who are just
I guess I don't like undeserved. It's like I guess
the term for it. You know. I have my nonprofit,
so it's called WARMTH and its stands for Workers Role Models,
and that's always been centered around the homelessness and food

and security. So that was an Indianapolis based thing in Milwaukee,

four years ago, some guy was trolling me online. So

basically after a game and whatnot. And I actually, I'm

I actually found him on venbo and I donated a pinion.
I said, yoh, here's a penny for your thoughts. And
I was like, wait, thank him, wait a second, Like

just got hit with a really bad ice storm, Like
people went out without power for like weeks. You know,

people were you know struggling Becausedallas wn't get very cold,
but when it does, like it's like a snowpocalypse down here.

I was just out, but I was sitting, you know,
sitting in a chair. And the moment they walked in,
they were like asking Martin, like, Mama, why is mommy sitting?
And Martin told him that I was in time out
(40:06):
because I wasn't listening at practice. So now anywhere that
they go, they're telling the nanny the teachers like that
I don't listen in practice, and I was in time out.
So like you know when that that coach told you
like don't set it, don't sit down in practice, like
stand up. I should have stood up because I think
(40:27):
I'm just in time out all the time.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
She so impressionable. Man, that's that's hilarious. I'll say, like,
have you ever brought your kids up, like to the
podium or anything like that. You see a lot of
players starting to do that nowadays and whatnot, and you know,
have you ever done that like a postgame interview or anything.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
I brought Ruby with me to my MVP announcement, but
she was like, very quiet, very timid. I have not
brought either one of them, and they're like wild stages.
But that's something that I can we can try. We
can see how that goes. I'm sure that'll be a nightmare.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
The best guy, the nightmare. I loved it exactly exactly.
