Speaker 1 (00:00):
His reaction was not how we do things at Yukon.
And I don't know, it's just hard for me to
see him like walk off the court like that, you know.
And I always have coat uramage back for sure, but
it just was it just wasn't giving newcome at that moment.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Welcome the game, recognized game. I'm Miles Turner, eleven r
NBA VET Center for Milwaukee Bucks, joined with my co host,
three time WBA champion and two time You're League Champion
Brehanna Stewart. All right, man, so you know made that
transition talk to this. How's Turkey so far?
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Honestly, Turkey's great. I got here almost a week ago.
The team Fenerbachi has been incredible because they let me
kind of ramp up into practice. You know, anytime you
travel or get back, you don't want to be like
thrown into the fire when the team has been going
for six seven months. But I've been here. I've been
trying to get my essentials, my Turkey's tea, my baklavah,
(01:08):
the the kebabs. Like if you haven't been to Turkey,
there's some good food over here and you definitely have
to lock in.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I've heard that alperson Goon, he did a segment he
talked about it quite a bit. I also heard about
like the Turkey. Are you a coffee drink at all? Yeah, yeah,
I heard a coffee of there as an elite too.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah. They have like these special coffee like you can
buy this special Turkish coffee thing that my trainer actually
just took home when she came here for whatever reason.
It's the coffee is incredible. So if anybody wants to
come to Turkey, you can. And those those that aren't
interested obviously knowing that there's a lot going on with
(01:48):
a run in the United States and my family was
definitely concerned about me coming here, but I can say,
being in a symbol, I am very safe. I'm only
here for a week, but the club does whatever they
can to make sure that we get everything that we need,
and you know, just just being aware of your surroundings.
That's whenever you're overseas, you're aware of what's going on
(02:10):
and making sure you don't put yourself in a bad position.
So I'm happy to be here and then next week
I go to Spain.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We're happy to hear that, because I was definitely going
to ask you about that as a coach of ongoing stuff.
You know, in the world, a lot of conflict and whatnot.
It's always interesting being American, you know, traveling you know,
to that side. You know, we always looked at it
viewed a certain way. And obviously you know an athlete,
you know, a big time athlete that But do you
ever kind of like have those nerves traveling, you know,
being an American, especially being away from the team.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah, I think just just really making sure, like I
know where all my stuff is, you know, not wearing
anything too crazy jewelry wise, not trying to get like
pickpocketed or you know, a phone stolen or things like that,
and not drawing too much attention to yourself, like you
just you you have to kind of blend in and
(02:58):
do what everyone else he's doing here. And I think
that not to say that you can't enjoy yourself. You
just have to be smart, you know, like this is
not my country, so I need to be aware of that.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah, I just know how to move the right way,
you know. You know, we we stand out in the crowd,
so that doesn't always work the right way. You know.
You think you can go on a hoodie or something
you know, high for the world, but I guess it's
not always the case.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
No, definitely, No, All.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Right, Joe, but I light it up, man. We got
a great show today. We're gonna talk about the NBA
sixty five game controversy, more about Turkey and what's going
on in euro League.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
We sadly have to get into the South Carolina Yukon
final four drama.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
It's all good, man, Texas text to let me down
that Final four too, but you know it's all good,
not go, and of course y'all will get off the
court too. We're gonna talk about studies, make casey stories,
some parents and advice, and some annual rescue updates on
my end.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Let's get right into it. I mean, there's been tons
of talk right now around guys like Luka Kate Cunningham
not being eligible for posty and awards due to injuries
and the sixty five game role. Like, I know we
talked about this a little while, like a few pods ago,
but like, what are our thoughts on that? You know,
do you like the sixty five game role?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
So for the people that aren't aware this year or
the past couple of years, only to be eligible for
major awards like All NBA Defensive Player of the Year MVP,
you have to at least play sixty five games. That's
a threshold and there's good and bad that comes with that.
You know, Carmelow won the AVP, you know, back in
the nineties, he only played forty nine games, right, So
some people say it's not fair. It's like, how can
(04:34):
you know other guys that are grinding playing all eighty
two and a guy can like, you know, only play
like fifty to sixty games and you know, be held
to the same threshold. So I look at guys like
Kakuneham who had a monster year, you know, kind of
you know, led his team to be the number one seed.
He was the literally the head of the snake there,
and he had some unfreseen circumstances happened the end of
(04:55):
the year, you know, had his lung collapsed, you know,
and stuff like that. You can't penalize it, guy for
who Lily's about to miss out on a lot of money.
You know, Guys like Luka Doncis as well, you know,
he's been grinding all year. You know, he finally got
his team, you know, to a very favorable position, and
then you know again o'verseen Hampshire injury happs at the
end of the year. There's good that comes with this
(05:15):
rule and bad that comes with it, because I think
you penalize guys that you know may or may not
have the opportunity to be in that position again one
and two. You know, we also think that I don't know, man,
it's tough, you know, I see the NBA side of
it as well, because you want your guys available on healthy,
you know, playing games. But at the same time, you
can't always just you know, rely on you know, the
(05:36):
body to hold up for eighty two games out of
the year. I mean, I just don't really know what
people are expecting.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, that was gonna be My next question is like
sixty five out of eighty two games, so basically you
can only miss seventeen games. M h.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah. I look at Luca because he has a special case,
like he had to miss like four or five games
because he had the birth of his daughter in a
completely different continent, you know, And it's like, how can
you really scrutinize to penalize a guy for such a
life changing, momentum changing event like that, Like, you know,
you're gonna you're gonna be there for your children, You're
gonna be there for your family. So you know, there's
there could be exclusion clauses and whatnot, you know, for
(06:11):
you know, extraordinary circumstances like that. I think that there's
ways that can be amended or in the instance of
you know, k cutting in here, like for the collapse
lung like, you can't just go out there and ramp
up and play right away. You know, that takes time
to get back from when you've been healthy the entire season. Now,
I get if you tweak an ankle or you know,
you have you know, like one of these regular injuries
and whatnot, then you know there's only so much you
can do. Right, you're not available, you're not out there playing.
(06:33):
But arguments kind of go both ways. I think the
biggest thing, you know, the NBA is trying to make
sure stars are readily available and one out there and playing.
They're trying to make, you know, the anti tanking roles,
trying to make it to where you can't just rest,
you know. So I get the business side of it, right.
You want your best asset, your best products out there
on the floor. But there's a humane aspect to it
that needs to be tweaked and hopefully they look into
(06:53):
it after, you know, the crezy circumstances this year.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yeah, I mean I guess, like, what's what's the right
number in your eyes? Like is it sixty two? You know,
so you can miss twenty games? Like are these excused
or non excused absences? Like what? You know, how should
it be kind of done?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah? I think it has to go off percentage. I'm
not you know, I didn't finish college like you, so
I'm not really great with the mathem at all.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
But I'm not gonna be able to help you with
that either.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
But I think that you have to play in at
least seventy percent of the games, you know, like sixty
five decavings the games whatever, that is right, And I
think that hopefully that's not sixty two. I don't or sorry,
I mean.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Let me get the calculator out real quick.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
But I mean I think that's a you know, it's
a quote unquoe reasonable number one night, like you got
to be readily available, you know, to play throughout the year.
You can't play forty fifty games and get these awards.
But also there are unforeseen circumstances that happened in the
NBA seated like the birth of a child or a
crazy you know threshold like that. So I don't know, man,
I think that the rule is gonna have to be
tweaked this year. I don't think that. I don't think
(07:56):
the owners are early to budget too much. But I
think that there are some special case this year that
qualify for it. And you know, being a businessman or whatnot,
I get it, Like, no, I think I'll shot to
Peter Man fifty eight games. It's seventy percent by.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
The way, young I know I'm doing it. I was
like it was like seventy five is like sixty two,
sixty one or something like that.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah, but hopefully that you know, it gets dressed pretty soon,
because you know, there are some very talented guys who
missed out on some extraordinary you know awards and just
you know, really at the end of the day, money
you get. Guys got you know, shoe deals and all
that type of stuff where they get incentivized to get
you know, awards like this.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, I mean I saw Yannis. He's missing out on like,
oh man, h forty million for some some high number
of millions of dollars because he didn't hit his threshold
in his Nike contract or whatever. Which brings me to
the point, is all right, Doc Rivers said google me?
(08:55):
Did you google me?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Oh man, this is a I knew we were going
to talk about this, And you know, it's quite funny
because listen, man, I don't know who Sham's source was.
I'll come out and say it right now. I was
not the snitch. I was not the mold. I don't
know who was. But a lot of stuff in that
ESPN article came out like it was. It was very accurate.
You know, I think that someone had to have like
a tape recording at this point, because I mean a
(09:20):
lot of stuff that was said was actually you know,
to the tea. You know what happened in the article. Yeah,
we had a really rough game in Chicago. We had
like a twenty point lead and pissed it away in
the fourth quarter, which is a really bad pointed season
for us. We were like in a really much a
must wind mode and we had a game against Boston
next day, and you know, Doc came and came in
(09:42):
and was like, listen, I heard y'all been talking shit shit.
Let me talk about shit too. But like you you
guys aren't as you know, I've taken teams that are
you know, less talented this to the playoffs or whatnot,
and he basically, you know, I thought this was the
team to do that. So I think it was a
way of trying to fire us up. But in a
room full of ego, he kind of came with the
whole google me thing and like, I don't think it
(10:03):
went over as well as he might have thought. It
wouldn't went over. And again it was a little on
original too, because the guy for Indiana, the coach, had
just did that, the Kurtzygnetti signetti whatever, the football coach,
and you know, I don't know, man, it was very.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Interesting inspiration from somebody, like.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
It was. It was. It was a cringe moment fact
for everybody, you know at that time, because we were
just kind of all looking around, like all right, guys,
well I guess let's go beat Boston now, you know
what I mean? Like it was, it was tough. Uh,
there's there was a lot of controversy this year, you know,
with our team. It was a very turbulent season, a
lot of up and down, you know, obviously, you know,
the distractions with you know, with Giannis and whatnot. You know,
(10:42):
is he in, is he out? You know, the trade rumors,
to all the injuries we had to you know, uh,
you know, stuck with Doc, you know, towards the end
of the year. I mean it's, uh, it's tough, man,
but you gotta be professional through it all. You know,
you gotta handle it, and you just got a hoop
at the end of the day. I mean, that's just
what we all get paid to do, you know, no
matter what happened. So it will be a very interesting
off season. You know, I don't I have no idea
(11:03):
what's going to happen. You know, you know, these ex
meetings gonna be interesting. Like, I literally have no idea
the direction of our team, you know, even if you
know if Doc will be here next year, you know
if Giannis will be here next year, you know what
our ownership is doing. So I'm literally just kind of
floating right now.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Yeah, I mean, you just being a pro and finishing
your season strong and letting whatever else happens happens. Like
there's nothing I feel like, there's nothing to do right
now except finish strong and get ready for next year.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Quite literally, Bro, that's it and that's all I can expect.
But you know, it is the best une of myself
and just keep pouring to myself and you know, go
out there and putting off for the city and that's it,
all right. So so let's get into this European excursion
you're on right now? What is that are you playing for?
And like how are you eligible? You know with all
this WBA stuff going on?
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Okay, So I'm playing for Fenerbacci. Basically we're in the
final four. It's called the Final six, which is the
euro League Final six. They change it to teams have
a play into the semi finals. But we're already in
the semis and so max two games that I'm here.
How long I'm eligible is you can have only two
(12:11):
Americans per team and they only had km ACT. So
Kayla McBride, she's actually not here right now. It was
like reported that she had a burst ear drum on
her flight back home during the like the national team break,
and she's still like recovering from that, Like doctors are
(12:31):
not letting her fly. So shout out to KMAC, wish
you were here with me, and you know, We're going
to keep keep holding it down for you. So that's
how I'm eligible because I'm the second American, second foreigner,
No not second foreigner, second American and we're playing for
the EuroLeague title.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Wow. Yeah, so lots of steak man to say the
least man. You've won it twice, right like in the past.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, I've won it twice. I want it once with
Finner and then once with Ecat. Was that right? I
only won it twice when when I was in Russia
with e Cat, like it all kind of goes together
because I ruptured my Achilles and then it was COVID
(13:19):
and then it was just like all this stuff happening.
So honestly, I don't know, but I'm trying to win
it again. That's that's really it.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
About saying that matter is like eyes in the future,
so we know you expected to win again this year.
Talk to talk about the bonus money that you get
kind of a winning overseas. How it differs from you know,
obviously being over here in the States with WNBA.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
So bonus money is basically just depending on what's written
into your contract. I think I got a nice little
bonus for winning, but basically like the bigger draw was
was to be able to come here, And I don't know,
I just liked it. Like I feel like at that
point when I said I would come, Benner obviously gave
(14:00):
me a back, but also I didn't know the stake
of the WBA. I didn't know where we were at,
like CBA was going back and forth. And now looking
back at it is like this is a perfect beat
up for me for training camp.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
You know, I get we have a scrimmage in Spain
next week, then we have two games to play, and
I get these live reps that I can just take
break with me to to start a training camp. And
for those that were wondering, like prioritization, which means you'll
be suspended if you're late for the start of the season.
That is, you have to be back by May first.
(14:34):
So any player that's not backed by May first, and
they're not in their first three years of their WNBA career,
they will be suspended.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Suspend it, wow, spend it for the season.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Uh huh. It's like it's a harsh realty round.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Okay, interesting dang so much.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
And next year it goes to April fifteenth, so it's
just like earlier and earlier.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Okay, so you gotta take a good with the good,
bad with the bad. I guess when it comes to
that that makes sense. Yeah, man, yeah, I guess the
NBA w B is also their product at the end
of the day. I get it.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Literally, they want to make sure people are ready for
the games.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
All right, sh'all? With that, signed for a quick break,

(15:39):
with Stewie Miles, and listen, I share your pain with this.
You know, we got to rap on it a little bit.
We have to recognize the South Carolina win over Yukon.
You know, it was a little bet that happened a
couple episodes ago, and it was a tough day for
the Huskies and the Horns, so let's speak on it.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
I was I was literally thinking about you because both
ought for losing, and then I was just like, this
is this is unfortunate. Yeah, tough, tough loss for Yukon
women's basketball in the semi finals. Knowing that South Carolina
really just they played better, like on all ends of
the court offensively, defensively, they brought that sec level physicality
(16:21):
and Yukon wasn't ready for it. And as much as
I'm cheering for my Huskies, they just didn't look like themselves,
you know. Low scoring ball wasn't going in the basket.
So I feel for the seniors. I feel for Asy,
you know, because when you're in your final year, you
want to finish on a high. But also what everyone
(16:44):
else is talking about is the coach or you don
stay kind of altercation that happened before the end of
the game when I was watching it live, like because
you know camera angles, they're not following the coaches when
the game is still going on, but you can kind
of see it in the background, and I was like,
(17:04):
what's happening here? I don't know. I think coach was
a little bit upset about some pregame handshake that never happened.
But like like things happen, you know, people get get
focused and lost in the moment. I think Don was
focused on our team, and I'm sure she didn't mean to,
like like coach Uriyama like that, but his his reaction
(17:29):
was not how we do things at Yukon, And I
don't know, it's just hard for me to see him
like walk off the court like that, you know, and
I always have coach urimage back for sure, but it
just was it just wasn't giving Yukon at that moment.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
That's real, and it's not it's not about not having
his bag. You're right, there's a standard, you know that
you have to uphold, you know, the ethics of the
game that you're kind of expecting, and you know, it's
a it's a heated moment. You know, obviously, you know
you're you're you know, you just lost in the final
four as well, and you know there's a lot of
motion that goes into it, back and forth. And at
the end of the day, let's just be really, these
coaches had egos, man, you know, these guys everybody, everybody
(18:11):
wants to win. So sometimes when people get the better
of you and whatnot. I mean, there's just a listen,
I'm not calling a story loser. But at the same time,
in that moment, you know, he was thinking about other things,
you know what I mean that didn't really necessarily apply
to the game. It's more about the respect of like now,
like you know, you said you're gonna shake my hand,
shake my hand was like, well, come on, bro, is
that the most important thing right now? You know?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
And he literally needed to just take it on the chin,
like take it on the chin and keep it moving.
I think that, you know, there was stuff that happened.
So remember when I don't know if you remember, but
Sarah her jersey was ripped. Yeah, but when they showed
the replay, you couldn't really see. I thought it was
like ripped in the middle or something. No, Sarah just
like popped that shit. But you know, it's just like coach,
(18:57):
he didn't know the whole side of the story because
I'm sure he didn't see her rip her jersey, but
he saw her come in with her jersey ripped, and
he was like what the fuck? But yeah, no, it's
just like you just you just don't know, you just
don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
No, it's funny in the moment too, because he came
out and I think he started talking with the refs
or something like that. Yeah, it's like, come on, bro,
like we're down twenty right now.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
This isn't going good for us right now. No, but really,
like I mean, that moment kind of took away from
the success that the South Carolina players had and what
they did and and really you know, it kind of
drew the attention of all the weekends. So I feel like,
(19:44):
without us going into further, I think we should highlight
u c l A winning their first ever national championship
because that's something that's that's really cool to see. Lauren
Bett's Kiki Rice, Debbie Hoppis, she went off. So like
(20:04):
those players, they really deserve to to appreciate that shine
and not have it be overshadowed.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, unfortunately, you know it was over you know, my
horns in that final four, But I think it was dope.
You know, to your point, I had kind of been
they kind of blew up a little bit on social media,
you know, those those three because it's like they're kind
of they're doing some cheerleader like dancer teams or TikTok,
you know, whatever whatever may be. I just love seeing
I guess women like living their best life or like
kind of really shining in those moments. You know, it's
(20:31):
like deservely. So I think that when you build such
a bond on the team and whatnot, that stuff is
so important. People don't talk about that, like the time
you spend together or you know, the dinners that you
go to or the come ride that you build. You know,
throughout the year, that stuff leads to a championship. Man,
it doesn't just happen overnight. So when I see stuff
like that, I don't know, it just kind of just
(20:51):
warns are hard a little bit. You know. It's just
like the spirit of the game, because I mean, yeah,
we're all talented, but there's a humane aspect of this
game as well. And when you're able to build those relationships,
those are moments you you know, remember forever there was
a real much you tell your grandkids about. And they're
pioneers too, the first ones to ever do it. Like
that's amazing at such a you know, historic and story
school at u c l A. So, uh, you know,
shout to those women, man, you know, they you know,
(21:12):
deserve that moment. And again it's just now a part
of history.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
I know. And now coming next week, we're going to
see where they're going to be drafted to. Maybe somebody's
gonna come to New York. I don't know. We don't
have any first round picks, so that really sucks. And
I feel like, while I'm on here, I just want
to talk about I know, I lost the bet to
leash about wearing the South Carolina jersey, but South Carolina
(21:38):
also lost, so I'm just wondering if I still have
to wear that.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yeah, there's a little intricacies to the rule. We really
discussed details. I'm glad to get uh get a Leasha
up on the phone moment time. Peter.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Peter's just writing in his chat saying that I do.
So you know what, I'm gonna do what I said
coaching gmmen needs to do and just take it on
the chin, and I'm gonna wear it against Atlanta because
shout out to Lease. She just signed that three year
I'm sure it's a seven figure deal each year. We
don't have the specifics, but she got colled so she
(22:16):
was eligible for the Supermax, which is one point four,
and like we were talking about, she probably took a
little bit less. So then she can have room for
other great players to come to her team as well.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Shout out man. She can stay in Atlanta too. No,
she put the down payment on that crib she just
talking about last time, So you know that's that's love
right there.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Mm hmm. And some other free agency news that I
think is interesting. Obviously, there's tons. Angel Reese traded to
Atlanta with Alisha Gray, Ryan Howard. BG signs with the
Connecticut son on a multi year deal, which is really
interesting because she's from Houston, so this is Connecticut's last
(22:56):
year in Connecticut and then she's gonna go to Houston
and play in the I don't even know, isn't the
inaugural when it comes back? When it's been there and
it left and now it came back, Like what is
that called? But she's going to be there playing to
that and shout out to my dog Grique taking less,
take him less to sign and stay with Dallas so
(23:17):
then she can make room for more players to come
and really be a contending team. I feel like that's
that's what everybody's going to see, is like, unless you
have Kelsey Mitchell, for example, like a team with a
lot of younger players, and she can take that one
point for Supermax, but otherwise you have to take less
in order to make room for everybody else.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Right, right, So it's evaluation. If you ask Kapa, your
cap is a little bit different than ours, and would
you say with seventy or something like that.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Our cap is seven million, seven.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Million, I said seventy seven.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Million, we're working for seventy.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
I think was it Jackie Young was able to Was
she like the first like when the base aside that
super Max or when it history? I think I saw that.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah, So yeah, Jackie Young, she just signed the regular
mass which is one point one nine, and yeah, she's
gonna be like the first first one to sign million
dollar contract in WNBA history. Today's the day where contracts
are getting signed. So you're gonna see a lot of
(24:22):
money and a lot of cast going out to players
that definitely deserve it, and hopefully we'll see a little
bit of movement for what we can talk about on
our next podcast.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Nice man, that's awesome. Man, it's another I think this
is obviously it's been a very like you know, crazy
time like leading up to you know, CBA whatnot. But
this is exactly what I'll do it for, you know,
for moments like this, see women that you know, we're
going to be making life changing money, you know at
that you know, for themselves on here state side of them
having to go abroad. So it's a to me cool,
(24:52):
but I'm going to see a lot of people in
the headlights of.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
The Yeah, I'm excited about it. Shout out, shout out
to the the rookies coming, you know, number one picks
making welcome to it. Five hundred thousand, come a long
way from sixty seventy eighty thousand what it was this
past CBA and CBAS before. So everybody's getting paid, everybody's
(25:15):
getting bumped up, and it's only only the beginning.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Do y'all have like a just kind of off top
of do y'all have like rookie like, you know, hazing
or rookie culture in WNBA? How does it work with y'all?
You know what I mean? Like carrying backpass, like getting
donut stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
No, I think some teams, some teams do it like
make them do like help with the team bags or something.
I don't know. I think it's funny to do the backpack.
So maybe if we ever get some rookies, we can
do backpack thing, which we should have rookies because now
each team has two PD spots, two developmental player spots
(25:52):
basically like how you guys have two way right, but
there's just no G League, so you can like implement
them and activate them first a number of games. So
maybe that's where I'm going to add in my backpacks.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Fair. Yeah, maybe one of these days that we get
into we'll talk about what's in the backpack on the
on the NBA side of things. But you know, that's
a story of another day.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Yeah what, Peter, write this down? What's in the backpack?
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Oh? But yeah, know, it's cultural, it's cultural. If anything,
we'll keep it at that. All right, We're gonna move
on to the college basketball season. Shouts by players who
know what's in the backpack? You know, if you don't know,
you know, again, well, we'll talk about it one day.
With the end the college basketball season, let's recognize a
few players have shown they have game this year. Obviously
on the men's side of things. You know you've seen
(26:40):
camera Boozer basically won every single award that you can
win on the men's side, and as a freshman, as
a you know, a guy first coming in, that's actually
very impressive. I mean I think he's really won like
every ward to win AP Award, John Wooden Award, you know,
Player of the Year, and like in every single category
or whatnot. You know, who knows what else will win
you know after the seasons, you know said it done.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
But.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
I'm not sure if it'll be the consensus number one pick.
But he was one of my favorite guys too watched
years because he has a very mature game. You know,
he could face up. You know, he posted, he makes
great reads. You know he's you know, developing outside jumper.
I think he's someone that was very dominant this year.
You know, when your father played in the NBA or
not even just played like one of an All Star
in the NBA. Yeah, you know, you have some great
(27:24):
genes and you know he's able to make it happen.
You know, I think that I think his dad currently
works for Utah. I'm not mistaken. It might be a
scout or something like that, so he can potentially get
drafted to Utah. So a lot of I don't know, man,
we got a good rookie class coming in, and who
knows what's gonna happen with this draft lottery now and
with all these anti taker rules stuff coming up. So
(27:45):
you know, we'll see, I.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Know we will see. And also a shout out to
Sarah Strong. I feel like I feel like between Sarah
and Cam, these are two players that we've already shouted
out when we were talking about players to watch on
our pod, but the way that she's just grown from
her freshman year to her sophomore year, really taking it
upon herself to really be dominant every time she steps
(28:09):
on the court and lead the team. I think that,
you know, really proud of what she's done. But when
I look at both of these players' names, I know
that they're both disappointed. You know, they both did not
get to where they wanted to be and winning that
national championship. I think Cam his time is probably done
in college. But Sarah, you have an opportunity to redeem yourself.
(28:31):
So make sure that you kind of use this off
season to get even better and more ready to really
take control. This is your team now, and come on,
lead them, get them back.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You heard it, man, It's coming from the go to self.
It's great advice. I think it is kind of a
it's kind of dope that you get to I don't
know I would have called it a failure. I think
it's it's stough that you get to get that learning
experience of like, you know, not being able to get
it done at that big stage and still have an
opportunity to run that back to you know, and again
kind of being like just the person we've been there before. Now,
(29:06):
like in the locker room, you're the person that's gonna
be looking to you know what I mean, I suppose
you look at other people. So I don't know, you know,
God has a planned for everybody, and I think that's
a hope that she gets experienced out again.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Mm hmm. And then we should say once to three
go Huskies. Right, I'm a moss.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
One to three go Huskies. I don't know about all that,
you know what I'm saying it.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
So we're just gonna keep look at you.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Got my camera phone down and everything, all right?
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Talk with one more break. Next up we go off
the court and talk about life's family and TETs. Thanks
for listening to Game Recognized Game. Please rate, review, and subscribe.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
Welcome back to the Game Recognized Game with Stewari Miles and
y'all know what time and is? Man, We're gonna kick
it the Stue's Para corner which you got for us today.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Ooh what do I have today? So my son Tao,
he's like two, he's two and a half, but he's
like a big two year old. He's like forty inches tall,
forty one inches tall, which is huge, and he hasn't
been sleeping well. Like we just got back from vacation.
We were in Turks and Kicos, and we come back
(30:31):
and he's just like struggling, and we realized that he's
actually too big for his crib, Like there's a thing
where your kids can be too big for their crib,
because he's like there's only like nine inches between like
if he's laying between his feet and the wall. But
every time he moves, he's like hitting aside or hitting aside.
(30:54):
So we quickly had to change. He's now in a
toddler bed. Shout out to Hot Wheels because he hot
wheels and he has a Hot Wheels tell their bed.
But it's funny, you know kids, kids mind work in
the weird ways. Like he's free, you know, he's lining
the crib, nothing's holding him back, but he doesn't get
off the bed. Like in the morning when he wakes up,
(31:15):
he doesn't he doesn't get off, he doesn't climb off
the bed. He thinks that he's still like stuck there.
Myself from Martha, and I'm like, I don't even want
to tell him because I want him to stay there,
Like you know, he might be down in the kitchen
one morning just like eating all the snacks or getting
into the fridge trying to do some food and not
waking anybody else up. So yeah, that's that's my Stewey's
(31:39):
pant corner is like, make sure you know when your
kid is too big for their crib because I thought,
you know, he never tried to climb out, so don't
take him out. Well, he is too big and now
he has the top their bed.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Quick follows that. So I had typically like how long
do kids have to stay in their cribs? You know?
And obviously table was a special case. How through it?
But you know, he said he's like two. You're so like,
when do they I guess definitely get out of the grib.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, So like most cribs, right, they transition to a
toddler bed, which means the crib is the same size.
You can just take off one of the walls so
then they don't like roll out and fall on the
floor because they're not used to not having anything. So
usually you transition them probably like around three, but we
had to do it audible and make that transition a
(32:24):
little bit sooner he has like a floor bed, so
there's nothing for him to fall onto except the floor.
But yeah, it never it didn't happen with us with
the Ruby, so we were really unprepared for it.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Got you all right, we're switching gears a little bit.
I think everybody here knows. You know, I started my
Castle Foundation, you know, and I got that off the
ground or officially a five oh one c three nonprofit
and uh I started, you know for animal advocacy, you know,
supporting animals and shelters on the ground to rehomeet them,
you know, against animal cruelty and euthan asia and our
(32:59):
recent part the ASPCA for their giving day it actually
was yesterday, but you know you can still donate and
what they do is basically highlight one day. You know.
It's where they kind of like, you know, shed light
on everything that's happening, you know in the animal in
animal world at that you know, they say five point
eight million dollars in cats, you know, the inter shelters
each year, and they're really trying to go against the
youth and as efforts there and people that don't know
(33:21):
what that means is. You know, whenever shelters get overcrowded,
a lot of times they had to put these dogs
and cats down, you know, you know humanely, you know,
with these shots and whatnot. And that's Whe're trying to
stay away from. You know, what I mean is actually
putting these animals down and giving them like real homes.
So the donations help fund you know, wresting disaster response
to medical career rebuntil rehabilitation and adoption realcation programs such
(33:44):
as the Castle Foundation. So you guys can be a
part of the mission as well. You know, you go
to a SPCA dot org and the Castle Foundation dot org,
you know, to donate and just help make a difference today.
And animal is something I've always been super passionate about.
And you know, SPCA has been just celebrate the one
hundred and sixty anniversary actually, so it was very excited
to partner with them and you know, continue just to
(34:06):
have efforts here, you know, on the state side. You know,
I know, the cats are kind of running ramped over
there in Turkey right now, but you know, we're trying
to make it.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Dogs they're they're everywhere, but people appreciate them in Turkey.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
They make sure they're well fed, they're inside. One other
thing that I realized when I was in Turks and
Caicos was I was working on with this gym, and
every day when I went upstairs, there was this long
line outside of one of these buildings, and I thought
it was like a diner, you know, like people are
waiting to go in and get a reservation. They were
(34:38):
waiting to have a one day adoption for the potcakes,
which is like the dogs in Turks and Caicos. They
let them. They let people come and you take the
dog for a day and give it like a day
in the life. So every day that line is out
the door and they're trying to really take care of
their animals that don't have home. So I thought that
(34:59):
was is really cool and as always smiles, shout out
to you and what you're doing with the Casterer Foundation
and the ASPCA giving day.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
I appreciate that. Man, any small thing makes a difference, man,
you know, to say the least, and like you don't
necessarily have to donate money, you know, to make a difference.
I mean you can go out there to your local
shelters and you know, have your old friend man try
it out. You know, get your old little friend with
his cats, dogs, birds, you or whatever. Some people have rabbits.
I mean, there's no limit to know to what you
can do to help. So yeah, all right, seall that's
(35:29):
us for the day. Man. Thanks checking us out. You
