going to try to do rent free may not pay

a couple of trips. A Deluxe is doing like a
girl's trip up to a Wheels of Fortune, and then
I'm gonna try to hang out with Vancouver for a while,
and then there's supposed to be a thunder trip possibly
TBD in New York. And then I'm gonna try to

get a sublease in New York June, July, August.

So you have recently moved. Can you give us a
little like day in the life, like what is your
days in South Florida looking like as a girl from Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Mm hmm, yeah, pretty much. I wake up super early
at like seven because the light in my room just
wakes me up. And then I walk outside my room
and caughta Diaz is my roommate, which is amazing.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
She comes out and she goes.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Hi, good morning, how are you all excited? And I
go good and she goes, you want to skip today?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
And I go maybe?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
And then I go and make a coffee, make some
waffles with cut up some strawberries, eat that, drink my coffee.
I did just find a new so maybe I'll go
to the gym, you know, maybe, But other than that,
we'll just hit Lot eleven, which we pretty much do
every day. And then I'll be sitting on the couch

and CONTI go, do you want to go out to
r and I say no, but then then that's that
and then I go to bed. It's a pretty simple day. Honestly,
it's beautiful.

Why am Miami?
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Just like, I don't know, I feel like there's so
much to skate out here. Actually, like just wanted to
get out of La. I feel like I was just
like it was too much going on there. As soon
as Nora got there, I was like, I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
She said bye is the same week. I was like,
you know what, whatever.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Yeah, I was talking to Nora on the phone. I
was like, I just like signed a sublease in Miami
for February first. She was like, dude, I'm gonna move
to La February first. And I was like, perfect, we
are totally on the same page here. So yeah, I
don't know. I just like I just felt like it. Honestly,
I don't really have like a super good rhyme or reason.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I know.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Katta was like had been talking to about coming out
here anyways, and I was, And I just found a
sublease when I was in Minnesota during the holidays, like
found a perfect one. Didn't even look at it in person,
signed the contract. Why the money came here and it's
a real sublease. So did the truck make it? The
truck made it? Oh my god, that was a whole debacle.
(08:28):
Did I tell you about that debacle? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Like the guy made it. You think that, like another
guy picked it up and it was a whole ordeal.
Being an adult is so annoying.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
God. I just had so just the hell that I
went through the past, like I don't know, six months
probably has been insane. But it was like, yeah, I
shipped my I shipped my truck. Literally they called me.
First of all, they told me it was gonna be
picked up like in the afternoon. Then they called me
that morning and they're like, hey, we're gonna be there
in twenty five minutes. And I was like, I'm not.
(09:00):
I don't even have anything it packed in my truck.
So I was like, can you give me an hour?
You know, They're like yeah, sure, scramble pack everything in
my truck. It takes me two hours of pack at all.
I call them, I'm like, yo, what's up, and they're like, yeah,
we'll be there, uh probably in like two hours. I
was like why did you call and panick me?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Then?
Speaker 3 (09:18):
So whatever? Then I couldn't use my truck for the
rest of the day and I'm like trying to move
all this stuff. Anyways, long story short, they don't end
up coming till six pm that night.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I drive it down to Sunset Boulevard. They put the
truck on, the truck on the truck, you know. I'm
like taking photos. I'm like, bye, truck, I take photos
of everything. I signed some papers. I get back up
to my truck. The guy who I set this up
with text me and is like, hey, who did you
give your truck to? That wasn't my driver? And I
was like what, Like, I mean, like how did I'm like,
(09:50):
I'm like, well, I guess my truck's gone and everything
that's in it that I have, So like, I was
just like, wow, how did this happen? And so just
in disbelief, I called the No one's answering me, by
the way, like he's like, how hard is it? Like
to all you have to do is call me in
double check. I was like, how hard is it? I mean,
I wasn't that hard, but like, how would this happen?
(10:12):
How would there be a mix up like this?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
You know?
Speaker 3 (10:14):
So yeah, anyways, I end up calling the driver and
I was like you did steal my truck, did you?
And he was like no, but yeah, anyways, thought my
truck was stolen for like ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Are you going to drive it on the East coast
to north or what do you think you're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
I think I'm gonna drive it to my parents' house
in Wisconsin leave it there. So I'm just gonna, like,
after we move out of here, I'm gonna bring my
truck up to Wisconsin and all my stuff and just
leave it there and then to really be a vagabond.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Sick live in the dream. Yeah, she's a free agent.
What are you chasing right now? What's this new chapter?
You said you went through a lot in the last
six months. I'd say a year as a friend of
yours last yeah, or like a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, Yeah, it's been Why don't you get us up
to speed?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I feel like this whole like new chapter really started
when I tore my AICL and that was twenty twenty four.
Like I you know, I knew I had this like
Colorway coming out in late twenty twenty four, and I'd
planned this trip and like had all these ideas how
I pictured it in my head. Going was like totally
different than how it ended up going. I tore my
aicl like made me get sober, maybe kind of reevaluate
(11:25):
a lot of things in my life. It was just
like more grounded. I would say. I ended up being like,
I don't think I like this relationship that in so
pretty much just like went through a bunch of life
changes and I don't know. All I want to do
is skate. You know, did you read The Alchemist by
any chance during this time? I haven't read The Alchemist?
(11:48):
But you know what's funny is during my first breakup, Josh,
you remember him, you lived with him when I saw him.
When I saw him a year later, he was like,
you should read the Alchemist. I was like, okay, and
then I was like, I never did. I never did.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I gave you an ex boyfriend The Alchemist before he
broke up with me, and then he broke up with
me to like travel the world?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Is this the trick tip to breaking up with someone?
Just like make sure you give him a copy of Alchemists?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I don't know, it's just some just I just find
it to be present in funny times of people's lives.
So I just think Nicole is in her alchemist phase.
She is going to explore the world, check off some boxes,
live a little.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
I just want to do whatever I want. I feel
like I've been doing a lot like the past ten years.
I feel like I've been living for my relationships or
like you know, other people around me. I don't know,
not doing what I want really, which has been like
I think, just taxing on me, you know, emotionally for
so long. So yeah, just like this year is like
(12:58):
about myself kind of vibes. I'm just trying to do
what I want to do when I want to do it,
and not like get hung up on what I think
people want me to do or what I think I
should do and all that. And like all I really
want to do is skate, and I haven't been able
to do that because of the injury and stuff. So
this year is like all about me, just skating and traveling.
(13:18):

It's also like you're young. I feel like I've known
Nicole since Nicole was like sixteen, and I feel like
she's always been like a little bit ahead of herself
age wise, like always cruising with the older kids, moving out,
doing all the adult stuff, and she's good at it.
(13:40):
She's great at adulting. But yeah, I think I think
we're all a little we've all been lost.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Just handing your keys over to someone us. Yeah, my
car packed up with my whole life. I'm good at adulting,
all good.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Who are you? It doesn't matter, Just just drive safely.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
No, but that wasn't even my fault. That was like, fully,
I did everything right. He just made me feel like
my truck was stolen, But it actually wasn't. It was
the right guy the whole time. So like that wasn't
even that wasn't even me.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Most of adulting is just checking in twice, maybe three times.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Yeah, double check in, Yeah, double check in for sure
as a vibe.

Yeah, how's how's Loop going? I hear shops are asking
for it?

Yeah, shops be asking where is it?

Probably still the manufacturing factory where we haven't paid for yet. No,
we actually I just got off of I just got
off a LOOP meeting, you know, right before this. We're
trying to get it into shops this summer is our goal.
So pretty much we're going to pack the rest of
the hardware we have, throw it up online, try to
sell through it. And yeah, we're talking about. You want

bit about your podcast and how that's been going and
the experience around it, what you do and don't like
about it?

Yeah? No, big deal podcast. The number one thing I
don't like about it is listening to my own voice
when I'm editing, or like just knowing that that's what
I'm gonna have to do, Like that's the hardest part.
And scheduling with skaters is a little bit like I'll
be like all set up to do it and then
it doesn't work out, which is totally fine. I expect that,
but it's just kind of like stuff like that, I
(16:30):
guess is most annoying. Otherwise, other than that, it's pretty
chill and I do things at my own pace, you know,
so that's nice. I'm just about to put out Deshaun
Jordan's episode next week, and that one's like probably one
of my best episodes, I think, So I'm stoked about that.
I feel like each time I do it, they get better,
which I'm happy about. I got to no one really
(16:52):
knows us yet, but I got to interview Grant Taylor
at the Nike headquarters, which is pretty sick. So I'm
really hyped on that one. It's fun to have the
end result of it, you know, at the end of
the day, like when I listened to it all back
and do the interviews. I also like writing the questions like,
that's always fun.

Speaking of funny questions, Nicole, can you tell me the
story of you demonstrating to Dennis Busnets how to use
knee pads?
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Oh my jod, this is like the most embarrassing story
probably of my life. Nor were you there?
Speaker 1 (17:29):
No, But the best part about this was our dear
friends Shae and Jimmy were there. And Shae and his
girlfriend occasionally would do laundry at my house and Shaye
comes over and is like, dear, Noicole did the funniest thing.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
The other day, and I was like, oh, yeah, what.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
Because they all drove up on a reel for a
little real filming trip in SF, and uh yeah, Nicole
will paint the picture for you.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Yeah, this is just like one of the most embarrassed
and stories.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
I probably have the cole thing ever, by the way, Like,
oh my gosh, this is so Nicole, this insane.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
So we were skating Petrero like in SF, I never
really have good luck and saff either. I've been like,
you know what, I don't have good luck in SF.
I'm not gonna expect anything anymore. So we're skating Petrero, Me,
Jimmy and Shay and Dennis Business is there, you know,
pulls up just hanging out on the sash. He sees me.
(18:31):
I'm like, it's super windy that day and I'm about
to roll into the shallow end and the wind like
pushes me back. So I'm like, oh, I don't have
enough speed to roll in. So I just like jumped
to my knees quick and knee slide down in the
shallow end. Dennis goes, WHOA, that's crazy. You can just
like knee slide from the top of the deck. And
I'm like yeah, and he was like goes over the
deep end of Petreo and is looking down. You know,
(18:52):
it's like ten feet eleven feet tall. He's looking down.
He's like, so you can just like knee slide from here,
and I was like, yeah, for sure. I was like,
as if I needed to give him a demonstration. I
literally jump too far past the transition.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
No, I don't, don't.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
I don't even have my board right, I'm just just
just my kney pads in me and I jump past
the transition. I jump way too far. I pretty much
jump to the flat bottom my the concrete grabs my
knee pad. I whip I like slam, like hit the
side of my head, like can cuss myself. I'm like,
I pop up so quick because I'm so embarrassed. I'm
(19:37):
just like, oh my god, I can't believe that happened.
I literally was concuss from that too, like hit my head,
probably one of the harder times I have and I
didn't have a helbin on, you know, naturally, I'm trying
to be fucking cool, trying to be cool, trying to
teach everyone on a knee slide, and yeah, I was
super embarrassing. And the one funny thing that she said too,
(19:58):
is she's like, if you would have, if you would
I have slammed that hard like doing a trick, I
would not have got up quick, like that's how hard
the slam was. Like I would have laid there for
a second, but because I was so embarrassed and I
didn't have my board or anything, I popped up like
I'm okay, but I was really not okay, Like honestly,
I suffered.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
From that like a mom reminds me of like a
twelve year old who's convinced his parents to get him
a trampoline and then he's like, Mom, look at this
and the kid like jumps off of the porch onto
the trampoline and gets like double bounced into infinity. And
this is like the confidence that you had in the
(20:38):
moment with this, so concu so confident, Like this is
a dicky moment. If this is as dicky as it gets, Okay,
it's almost like when you jumped in the hot tub
at the X Games and held your nose. So that
is a similar thing that only you would do. And
(20:58):
it's important because I think it's very validating.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Oh my gosh, yeah, it's so true. It's so true,
and like, yeah, then I had to I had to
like overcompensate with Dennis and make him. I was like,
he was like, I'm so sorry, and I was like,
it's okay, dude, I should be able to do that,
Like this is not your fault. I should totally be
able to do that. He was just like, you know, Dennis,
(21:22):
he's just looking at the deep end. He was like,
you know how he measures everything and shit, Like I
think he was just like calculated his brain, like huh,
Like it's crazy. You can just nie slide from here.
And I was like, yeah, let me show you.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
So in the past, you and Nora were roommates. You
shared a home.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
You guys had your own halfpipe in the back and
a pool.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Oh, we have way too many stories about this that
like probably we shouldn't talk about. Yeah, those were the
golden days. We basically like lived in this house. You
know what it reminded me of. It was like such
a California track home. Like it reminded me of Poltergeist.
Like the living room had like these high ceilings and
(22:06):
like the way like the stairs went up, and like
just even like the wood grain of the kitchen like
it was so it was really funny. But yeah, Nicole
used to absolutely destroy the ramp in our yard. This
was like pre Olympics, and I think all the specs
of like the ramp and everything were kind of to
(22:27):
match like the Van's Park series style sizes. So like
the minier part of the ramp was still like five
and a half six feet big, had some pool coping.
The vert wall was sick. But I did not session
it the way Nicole did, And we will be including
video on this. I was like her filmer, her at
(22:50):
home filmer. But it was fun. I mean it was
such a score. I think we lived in like a
three bedroom house with a pool and a skate ramp
for like twenty seven hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Yeah, twenty eight hundred, like literally as much as my
one bedroom apartment.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yes, yeah, And it was a big house and it
was so nice and it was like a decent location.
It's pretty awesome, Nicole. What's like your favorite memory of
the ocean side house. Oh? My god.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
I convinced Noora to do a full trip of mushrooms
like two days before due tour, or maybe the day
before due to her and I wasn't skating it because
my knee was hurt or something. And I was like, yes,
you were skating, and we did like a full trip
of mushrooms and all ours. Nora and the pool for
(23:44):
so long was just her eyes like above the water,
just navigating around for so long, and at one point
she was like, I have to pee, and then like
an hour later she was like I don't have to
pee anymore.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I think I was literally in the pool for like
ten hours, so at least four hours like it. I'm serious.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
It was insane. It was so crazy. It couldn't get.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Her out at the pool. All right. Well, things are
getting a little bit too trippy. So, uh, we're gonna

I don't remember, h Nicole. Was this a do tour
in the TF? No, this was the do tour in
Long Beach. I'm pretty sure. Yeah it was still Long
Beach cause yeah, but yeah, it was twenty nineteen. I
won twenty eighteen. Twenty eighteen I wont, and then this
was twenty nineteen and I had to hurt me. And
I remember you had to drive to Long Beach. You

were like, dude, I'm so exhausted from doing that, and
like you couldn't skate, You couldn't function for like two days.
And Mimi was like, yeah, I could have told you
that was gonna.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Happen, Nora, Like you don't want to do a full
trip of mushrooms, like before you have to drive to
Long Beach and skate a contest and like, I mean
it was just like the day before practice.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
But I mean it makes sense. I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Blacked out to me, Like I really don't remember it,
you know, yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Remember being in the pool for eight hours.

Now or I remember that whole day.

I remember, yeah, the one Nicole won in twenty eighteen,
which was so sick because she was like in flow
state and I had food poisoning. And then I remember
the ones in the TF like the following days that
were or following years that were like made me like, oh,

they built like custom homes, the roof, they sawed all

like Minnesota Wild games, like Twins games, like all the
local TV, and like everyone in Minnesota watches the Wild,
like everyone in my high school, So like every day
in high school, it would be like, say last night, Nicole,
I'm like, oh my god, I never thought this was
gonna was gonna happen to me. And then it just
got worse because then they're on YouTube, and then Nora

discovered them, and then anytime we would have people over
should be like just out of nowhere would just be
like I just hear my voice and it would be
like me on. And there was like this one commercial
where I'm skating on the roof. You say roof no, no, sorry,
I say roof, not roof, but I've trained myself to
say roof now, so skating, I was like, so I

like skate down this roof and my dad like pops
up and goes, hey, Nicole, no skating on the roof
and I'm like whatever, and then he goes, where's your helmet? Sorry?
They're not online anymore for a good reason. I was like,
can we get those off? I can't be dealing with
this anymore.

I was so bummed. I would look them up and
they would just be gone, and I couldn't cross reference
them with anything, and it just is really crappy.

moved to LA, and I feel like my life changed

little like day in the life, like what is your
days in South Florida looking like as a girl from Minnesota?

Mm hmm, yeah, pretty much. I wake up super early
at like seven because the light in my room just
wakes me up. And then I walk outside my room
and caughta Diaz is my roommate, which is amazing.

go good and she goes, you want to skip today?

I did just find a new so maybe I'll go

Yeah, I was talking to Nora on the phone. I
was like, I just like signed a sublease in Miami
for February first. She was like, dude, I'm gonna move

are totally on the same page here. So yeah, I
don't know. I just like I just felt like it. Honestly,
I don't really have like a super good rhyme or reason.

Katta was like had been talking to about coming out
here anyways, and I was, And I just found a
sublease when I was in Minnesota during the holidays, like
found a perfect one. Didn't even look at it in person,
signed the contract. Why the money came here and it's
a real sublease. So did the truck make it? The
truck made it? Oh my god, that was a whole debacle.

Did I tell you about that debacle? Yeah?

Like the guy made it. You think that, like another
guy picked it up and it was a whole ordeal.
Being an adult is so annoying.

God. I just had so just the hell that I
went through the past, like I don't know, six months
probably has been insane. But it was like, yeah, I
shipped my I shipped my truck. Literally they called me.
First of all, they told me it was gonna be
picked up like in the afternoon. Then they called me
that morning and they're like, hey, we're gonna be there
in twenty five minutes. And I was like, I'm not.

I don't even have anything it packed in my truck.
So I was like, can you give me an hour?
You know, They're like yeah, sure, scramble pack everything in
my truck. It takes me two hours of pack at all.
I call them, I'm like, yo, what's up, and they're like, yeah,
we'll be there, uh probably in like two hours. I
was like why did you call and panick me?

Then?

So whatever? Then I couldn't use my truck for the
rest of the day and I'm like trying to move
all this stuff. Anyways, long story short, they don't end
up coming till six pm that night.

I drive it down to Sunset Boulevard. They put the
truck on, the truck on the truck, you know. I'm
like taking photos. I'm like, bye, truck, I take photos
of everything. I signed some papers. I get back up
to my truck. The guy who I set this up
with text me and is like, hey, who did you
give your truck to? That wasn't my driver? And I
was like what, Like, I mean, like how did I'm like,

I'm like, well, I guess my truck's gone and everything
that's in it that I have, So like, I was
just like, wow, how did this happen? And so just
in disbelief, I called the No one's answering me, by
the way, like he's like, how hard is it? Like
to all you have to do is call me in
double check. I was like, how hard is it? I mean,
I wasn't that hard, but like, how would this happen?

How would there be a mix up like this?

So yeah, anyways, I end up calling the driver and
I was like you did steal my truck, did you?
And he was like no, but yeah, anyways, thought my
truck was stolen for like ten minutes.

Are you going to drive it on the East coast
to north or what do you think you're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
I think I'm gonna drive it to my parents' house
in Wisconsin leave it there. So I'm just gonna, like,
after we move out of here, I'm gonna bring my
truck up to Wisconsin and all my stuff and just
leave it there and then to really be a vagabond.

Sick live in the dream. Yeah, she's a free agent.
What are you chasing right now? What's this new chapter?
You said you went through a lot in the last
six months. I'd say a year as a friend of
yours last yeah, or like a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, Yeah, it's been Why don't you get us up
to speed?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I feel like this whole like new chapter really started
when I tore my AICL and that was twenty twenty four.
Like I you know, I knew I had this like
Colorway coming out in late twenty twenty four, and I'd
planned this trip and like had all these ideas how
I pictured it in my head. Going was like totally
different than how it ended up going. I tore my
aicl like made me get sober, maybe kind of reevaluate
(11:25):
a lot of things in my life. It was just
like more grounded. I would say. I ended up being like,
I don't think I like this relationship that in so
pretty much just like went through a bunch of life
changes and I don't know. All I want to do
is skate. You know, did you read The Alchemist by
any chance during this time? I haven't read The Alchemist?
(11:48):
But you know what's funny is during my first breakup, Josh,
you remember him, you lived with him when I saw him.
When I saw him a year later, he was like,
you should read the Alchemist. I was like, okay, and
then I was like, I never did. I never did.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I gave you an ex boyfriend The Alchemist before he
broke up with me, and then he broke up with
me to like travel the world?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Is this the trick tip to breaking up with someone?
Just like make sure you give him a copy of Alchemists?

I don't know, it's just some just I just find
it to be present in funny times of people's lives.
So I just think Nicole is in her alchemist phase.
She is going to explore the world, check off some boxes,
live a little.

I just want to do whatever I want. I feel
like I've been doing a lot like the past ten years.
I feel like I've been living for my relationships or
like you know, other people around me. I don't know,
not doing what I want really, which has been like
I think, just taxing on me, you know, emotionally for
so long. So yeah, just like this year is like

about myself kind of vibes. I'm just trying to do
what I want to do when I want to do it,
and not like get hung up on what I think
people want me to do or what I think I
should do and all that. And like all I really
want to do is skate, and I haven't been able
to do that because of the injury and stuff. So
this year is like all about me, just skating and traveling.

It's also like you're young. I feel like I've known

we're all a little we've all been lost.

No, But the best part about this was our dear
friends Shae and Jimmy were there. And Shae and his
girlfriend occasionally would do laundry at my house and Shaye
comes over and is like, dear, Noicole did the funniest thing.

The other day, and I was like, oh, yeah, what.

Because they all drove up on a reel for a
little real filming trip in SF, and uh yeah, Nicole
will paint the picture for you.

Yeah, this is just like one of the most embarrassed
and stories.

I probably have the cole thing ever, by the way, Like,
oh my gosh, this is so Nicole, this insane.

So we were skating Petrero like in SF, I never
really have good luck and saff either. I've been like,
you know what, I don't have good luck in SF.
I'm not gonna expect anything anymore. So we're skating Petrero, Me,
Jimmy and Shay and Dennis Business is there, you know,
pulls up just hanging out on the sash. He sees me.

I'm like, it's super windy that day and I'm about
to roll into the shallow end and the wind like
pushes me back. So I'm like, oh, I don't have
enough speed to roll in. So I just like jumped
to my knees quick and knee slide down in the
shallow end. Dennis goes, WHOA, that's crazy. You can just
like knee slide from the top of the deck. And
I'm like yeah, and he was like goes over the
deep end of Petreo and is looking down. You know,

it's like ten feet eleven feet tall. He's looking down.
He's like, so you can just like knee slide from here,
and I was like, yeah, for sure. I was like,
as if I needed to give him a demonstration. I
literally jump too far past the transition.

I don't even have my board right, I'm just just
just my kney pads in me and I jump past
the transition. I jump way too far. I pretty much
jump to the flat bottom my the concrete grabs my
knee pad. I whip I like slam, like hit the
side of my head, like can cuss myself. I'm like,
I pop up so quick because I'm so embarrassed. I'm

just like, oh my god, I can't believe that happened.
I literally was concuss from that too, like hit my head,
probably one of the harder times I have and I
didn't have a helbin on, you know, naturally, I'm trying
to be fucking cool, trying to be cool, trying to
teach everyone on a knee slide, and yeah, I was
super embarrassing. And the one funny thing that she said too,

is she's like, if you would have, if you would
I have slammed that hard like doing a trick, I
would not have got up quick, like that's how hard
the slam was. Like I would have laid there for
a second, but because I was so embarrassed and I
didn't have my board or anything, I popped up like
I'm okay, but I was really not okay, Like honestly,
I suffered.

From that like a mom reminds me of like a
twelve year old who's convinced his parents to get him
a trampoline and then he's like, Mom, look at this
and the kid like jumps off of the porch onto
the trampoline and gets like double bounced into infinity. And
this is like the confidence that you had in the

moment with this, so concu so confident, Like this is
a dicky moment. If this is as dicky as it gets, Okay,
it's almost like when you jumped in the hot tub
at the X Games and held your nose. So that
is a similar thing that only you would do. And

Oh my gosh, yeah, it's so true. It's so true,
and like, yeah, then I had to I had to
like overcompensate with Dennis and make him. I was like,

able to do that. He was just like, you know, Dennis,

he's just looking at the deep end. He was like,
you know how he measures everything and shit, Like I
think he was just like calculated his brain, like huh,

So in the past, you and Nora were roommates. You
shared a home.

You guys had your own halfpipe in the back and
a pool.

Oh, we have way too many stories about this that
like probably we shouldn't talk about. Yeah, those were the
golden days. We basically like lived in this house. You
know what it reminded me of. It was like such
a California track home. Like it reminded me of Poltergeist.
Like the living room had like these high ceilings and

like the way like the stairs went up, and like
just even like the wood grain of the kitchen like
it was so it was really funny. But yeah, Nicole
used to absolutely destroy the ramp in our yard. This
was like pre Olympics, and I think all the specs
of like the ramp and everything were kind of to

match like the Van's Park series style sizes. So like
the minier part of the ramp was still like five
and a half six feet big, had some pool coping.
The vert wall was sick. But I did not session
it the way Nicole did, And we will be including

home filmer. But it was fun. I mean it was
such a score. I think we lived in like a
three bedroom house with a pool and a skate ramp
for like twenty seven hundred dollars.

Yes, yeah, And it was a big house and it
was so nice and it was like a decent location.

I convinced Noora to do a full trip of mushrooms
like two days before due tour, or maybe the day
before due to her and I wasn't skating it because

you were skating, and we did like a full trip

so long was just her eyes like above the water,
just navigating around for so long, and at one point
she was like, I have to pee, and then like
an hour later she was like I don't have to
pee anymore.

I think I was literally in the pool for like

Your dad's a contractor and he built you a full
on vert ramp in the backyard growing up.

So my parents started they both like started their own
construction company when uh JG. Hawes Construction and when they
were nineteen and twenty. So my parents owned a construction
company for my whole life, like thirty five years. So yeah,
they built like custom homes, the roof, they sawed all
the things.

Nicole used to star in the commercials until she had
all removed from the internet.

Yeh, I had him removed because of you, because.

My dad wanted to do some like local TV commercials,
and when I was a kid, do I did first
it was like a local radio commercial. I was like
my dad Jeff started changing house construction. Like I was
like a little nine year old doing like a little
radio ad for my dad. Then you know, I was sixteen,
my dad was like, hey, Nicole, can you do this
commercial like being part of it. I was like, yeah, whatever.

The day of he gives me the script, it's like
I have like two sentences. He just goes right like
he he literally has like one word and I have
like all of these sentences. I'm like, so pretty much,
I'm leading this whole commercial. You literally didn't tell me
that anyways. So yeah, I filmed like a series of
commercials and I just thought like I didn't wasn't really

thinking it through. But then they played on all the
like Minnesota Wild games, like Twins games, like all the
local TV, and like everyone in Minnesota watches the Wild,
like everyone in my high school, So like every day
in high school, it would be like, say last night, Nicole,
I'm like, oh my god, I never thought this was
gonna was gonna happen to me. And then it just
got worse because then they're on YouTube, and then Nora
(32:18):
discovered them, and then anytime we would have people over
should be like just out of nowhere would just be
like I just hear my voice and it would be
like me on. And there was like this one commercial
where I'm skating on the roof. You say roof no, no, sorry,
I say roof, not roof, but I've trained myself to
say roof now, so skating, I was like, so I

like skate down this roof and my dad like pops
up and goes, hey, Nicole, no skating on the roof
and I'm like whatever, and then he goes, where's your helmet? Sorry?
They're not online anymore for a good reason. I was like,
can we get those off? I can't be dealing with
this anymore.

No.

I was so bummed. I would look them up and
they would just be gone, and I couldn't cross reference
them with anything, and it just is really crappy.

There's all still make a new commercial. Also, Real Skateboards,
you have your marching orders.

I actually have a board graphic for Real for Nicole
that I'm gonna let's hear it, do pitch it. There's
an image of Nicole as a child at Camp Woodward
Lake Owen Rip and it's like a gymnast doing like
the split skis over her and it's like jumping in

the air and it's Nicole like eight years old with
a giant pink helmet, just like rolling between this woman's legs.

And I'm there's an actual photo of this.

Yes, I'm gonna send it to the group. I'm looking

This is another classic. I'm always just like this is

And they were just like you want to do the
like will you shoot this photo? And yeah, they gave
me a pink helmet, which I was the most upset about.
That was not even my helmet, and the photos like
this like neon pink helmet. But yeah, I'm just like
slotting down and then this cheerleader's legs are just like
jumping iconic.

I'm basically like Nicole's the little sister I never had.
So hence the reason this entire podcast is me just
been trying to bring up her most embarrassing moment. But yeah,
I just think it's interesting. No one else has this information,
and I like, I like to be able to, uh
to unearth it for everybody's entertainment.

I figured, since you're living out of a suitcase for
the next year, I want to hear what is a
dream skate trip location that you haven't hit yet that's

Billboo Spain agreed, there's this skate park that I've always
want to skate that overlooks the ocean, has like this
concrete miniververt ramp that I saw a raven Tershi skate
like ten years ago now, and I've just always wanted
to go there. That's actually where I was supposed to
go for my Colorway shoe trip. There's so many good
street like when g X put out that GX one

thousand put out the Bilbao at it. There's also so
many good like bank street spots and stuff that I
want to hit so and it just looks pretty there.

Okay, so we've got a dream trip on the books.
We know what to do there. You got a dream
non skate trip location you're trying to go to.

I don't know. I would like to go to like Ireland,
that would be cool. Ireland, Jamaica would be cool. Yeah,
either of those. I feel like I would vibe in Jamaica.

I could see Nicole coming becoming the next Eli Reid
real quick, like you would just be taken in like

I happen to go LA, Like, I feel like it's
pretty overrated there. Whatever, Man, I love LA for not skating,

just think a lot of the spots there are pretty
like blown out. Everything's like brown or beige or like
there's no like color. I just think filming there is

But I think SF looks so cool in footage, Like
I just don't have good luck there. I don't have

City is it puts you in your place.

Like there's nothing easy about San Francisco. The weather is unpredictable,
but when it is amazing, it's like so stunning. It's
the most European city in America.

Although man, the terrain here to skate is so gnarly.
Nothing is nice. You're doing wind, you're dealing with an extreme.
If you're cool with speed and grit, then hell yeah.
But that's why it does look so good on camera
is that you can kind of see how difficult everything is.

It made me feel better. I was with Grant in
Portland and he was like, he just said that too.
He was like, I never feel good in SF and
I was like, me neither. I was like, the fact
that you're saying that is so validating. Nicol, what would
be your what do you think your most toxic travel is.
I guess my toxic trait is like not drinking the

whole trip and then the last day of being like
I'm gonna get fucked up, and then getting so drunk
that everything bad that could possibly happen to a person
does happen because I'm like a menace to society and yeah,
it's it's not good. It's not a good look. This
is why I'm now ninety days sober again. Have a drink.

I think just like bringing extra stuff. Don't be a nuisance.

bring a razor blade in your check bag, because everyone's

and then you have to cut your grip with like
your keys, and then that's bad for business.

Don't be the person everyone's driving around for because that's annoying.
And I also think bring like an extra pair of
clothes on the plane with you, because if your stuff
gets lost and you have like one pair of undies,
that sucks.

Yeah, so true. A lot of people pack their boards,
but I don't know unless you want to have an excuse, well,
like don't pack it in your check bag if you're
really if you really want to skate, yeah, take it
on the plane. But if you don't, if you want to,
like little cheeky, I have an excuse. My bag got lost.

go to the skate shop and they got to set

I just don't like how every time I get on

be in New York for a couple of years, and
then maybe I'll love Miami and maybe I'll give the

feel like I want to move, and I said, I think,

like I have freedom, and I also love like not

I like by being uncomfortable and like changing my life rapidly.
I've done this like twice now. I've been like I've

done with this relationship moving to LA when everyone's like,
why are you moving to LA? And I was like,
I don't know, this is what I do. And I
moved to LA, and I feel like my life changed
for the better. It was like really uncomfortable all the
things I did and stuff, but I was stoked, And
I think that changed my life and now is kind
of the same same pattern I've been falling. I'm like, okay,
relationship over, Like I have to move, I have to

get uncomfortable again, I have to like try things. And
so I think this is just like another phase of
Dicky trying to find yourself, you know. So I think

always so happy to have my freedom. I guess that's
