Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do have you
ever thought about the fact that you impact people's lives
every day. You can impact them for good by having
(00:25):
a good attitude, by being kind, by smiling, by laughing,
by being cheerful, by sharing something positive. Or you can
impact them in a negative way with your snarkiness, your rudeness,
your callous comments, your racism or sexism, or just cruelty.
(00:46):
You impact the people around you every single day. I
hope that you choose love. I hope you choose to
impact them with the goodness that I know is in
your heart. Let it out, Let it shine, Let that
light shine.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Hi, Delilah, my name is Susan.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Susan, what can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Well? I have you ever just had a little message
from God that maybe we shouldn't be as self absorbed
as we are?
Speaker 3 (01:19):
You've gotten this message recently?
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I got that message loud and clear.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Wow, that's a pretty big, big message.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah, it was, But it came from a very good
friend who's just like one of those people that God
puts in your life. To just point you in the
right direction.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
And what's your friend's name?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Her name is Joanne, and she's just gone through a
horrible time with her family. So the whole family is
just in a state of upheaval. But I'm having issues.
I work, I go to school, I have a family,
and my parents actually, after thirty two years of marriage,
are considering separating. So I was just totally in a tailspin.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Woe is me?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
And she had stopped by the office. She came in
and sat down and all this that she's gone through,
and she says, Susan, can we pray for your family?
Totally putting aside everything that she was going through and
just focusing on the fact that I was hurting.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
That's what you call a good friend.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Oh, put everything in perspective, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
So you want a song to say thank you to
her for caring about you, even when she had her
own burdens to bear.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Oh, absolutely, And thank you for reminding me that the
world does not revolve around me, and other people have
issues and you just can't be self absorbed. You have
to be sensitive to everyone around.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
You, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
If nothing else, this job reminds me of that every
single day. No matter what's going on in my life.
When I come in here and I pick up the
phone and people call. A young lady just called, who's
best friend of the last ten years is battling leukemia,
And I'm like, you know what, I don't have anything
(02:57):
in the world to complain about.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah, exactly. And I listened to you a lot when
I drive home from school, you know, after working for
eight hours and sitting through class for six hours, and
it's a very nice way to unwind and just listen
to all the happy stories and sad stories. It's kind
of puts everything in perspective.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
So a song to say thank you for reminding me
to put things into perspective, but mostly thank you for
being a friend.
Speaker 5 (03:23):
Yep, I will do that for you.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Thank you so.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Much, and thank you for calling.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
God blessed you, Alisah, thank you, Hi.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Thanks for calling.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Who is this Hi?
Speaker 7 (03:40):
This is Misa.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 7 (03:44):
Well, I've been single for about almost three months now.
I have to be in a one year relationship and
this man was a I thought he was the one
for me, but after some man years, I found out
he had gambling problems and then found out he was
abusing prescription drugs that last time I heard he's doing well.
(04:06):
But I just want to send out message to all
the ladies out there that it's okay to let go
and then to spend time with getting to know yourself
and to also learn to accept who you are, and
that there's so many people out there that are dying
(04:27):
to treat you like a queen. So I just wanted
to send that message out there.
Speaker 8 (04:35):
You want to send a message to other women who
might be in love with addicts, alcoholics, gambling, addicts, liar
liar pants on fire to say you deserve better than
that exactly.
Speaker 7 (04:48):
And then I and then now I bet I'm saying
I realized, you know, this is awesome. This is a
time for me, Like I'm spending more time with myself,
like going with girlfriends, trying new places, and I'm finally
going to Hawaii that I've been wanting to do for
years and didn't do it. And so it's like it's
okay to, you know, spoil yourself for once. And it
(05:12):
hurts in the beginning, but it gets better with each day.
But I just want to request this song.
Speaker 8 (05:21):
I'll find something wonderful for you, Okay, awesome.
Speaker 7 (05:25):
Thank you, Delilah.
Speaker 9 (05:36):
Hello, Delilah, this is Chad.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
Chad. What can I do to make you a night better?
Speaker 9 (05:40):
Well, first of all, let me say it's an honor
to actually get to speak with you. I listened to
your show for many years and never really had a
reason to call in, and tonight I finally do.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Well, thank you. I'm glad you made it through. What's
your reason for calling in?
Speaker 9 (05:53):
Well, it's it's a long story, and I'll make it.
I'll make it short. I drive a semi cross country
and I don't get along with my family too well.
My sister and I are kind of on talking terms,
but that's from my Lam and I. We we tolerate
each other and that's about all us there. When I
was on a dedicated run, I managed to run into
a woman named Joanne who kind of took me under
(06:14):
her wing and she's been like my surrogate mom for
the past year and a half. How old are you, Chan,
I'm twenty five.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
And why do you not have peace with your mom?
Is there some dysfunction?
Speaker 9 (06:25):
There's some dysfunction and some issues. Tried reconciling them, and
she's at the stage in her life where she doesn't
want to take responsibility for her actions. She likes to
put it off on everybody else.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
And we all go.
Speaker 9 (06:38):
Through that phase. I mean, everybody does that, But she's
hard to converse with. Everything's got to be her way
and she's never at fault. It's always somebody else. And
I'm at the stage in my life where I don't
need to be around that at this particular stage. I'm
still still developing as a person in society, I guess
you could say, and I just don't need to don't
need to be drugged down all the time. And Joanne
(07:00):
kind of lifted me up and took me under her wings.
There was the weekend where I was stuck in the
city and what she lived in, and she invited me
over to her house and basically, you know, just showed
me that there are people who still care, that despite
how bad things can be in your life, that there's
somebody out there, no matter where you are that'll reach
out and just kind of take you up and build
you up.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
So she's an encourager instead of a discourager.
Speaker 9 (07:23):
Yeah, very much.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
So she's somebody that tries to look on the positive
side no matter what.
Speaker 9 (07:27):
Definitely, and She checks up on me about once a
week and make sure that I'm doing okay. And not
that I need that, but it's nice to know that
somebody cares, you know.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
So Chad, do me a favor, all right, I'll play
this song to honor Joanne. If you do me a
favor and promise in the future you'll do the same
thing for a young person.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I will and pay it forward.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I will, all right.
Speaker 9 (07:48):
God bless you, God bless.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
You, Shanna.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Well?
Speaker 6 (07:58):
You know, I've listened a lot a radio program and
how wonderful it is to give people hope. And I
myself have gone through a lot of stuff in my life.
I'm only twenty four, but I feel like I've been
through you, been tested by God. And a year ago tonight,
I probably, you know, would have been give you know, ideas,
(08:19):
have given up would have been much more appealing than
keeping myself going. And I guess I just hear a
lot about people always having troubles in life, and I
guess I just want to wish everybody that that hope
of keeping going and not giving up and just having
faith in yourself and facing a new day and keeping
(08:41):
your you know your heart alive as long as it can,
and keep your spirit rich and full despite the negativity
in your life.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
So are you doing that?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Are you able to keep your spirits up and keep
going in your direction?
Speaker 6 (08:54):
Yeah, definitely, I think. You know, I've realized the value
of friends and family, and now I've met a wonderful
man in the past, you know, six months. That's really
helped me realize that life is so precious and so
important and you have to just keep going, you know,
and love everything around you and love yourself.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Well.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I know for me, I don't have it within me
to keep a positive attitude or to keep things going
the right direction when when they're not. And that's why
my faith in God is so important to me, because
when I don't have I don't have the courage to
carry on, or I don't have the ability to hang
in there, you know, God, that's where God steps in
and picks me up and lifts me up and gives
(09:40):
me so much joy, definitely, and so much hope.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
And especially like I always when the day's the nights,
when I thought things where it's worse, I always thought,
you know what, there's someone, someone in this world who
would love to have my problems, but no matter how
bad it get, it could always be worse, and you
just have to keep going until you see the light
at the end of the time.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
It's very important amen to them.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
