Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. So what in
the world is going on in your world? Are you
(00:23):
falling in love for the first time? I get so
many sweet calls and emails from young people falling in love,
and it's so funny because they always say, I know
you're going to think I'm not really in love where
I know you're going to say this isn't real because
I'm only eighteen or nineteen, And I just grinned to
myself and think, oh, honey, your love is the most
(00:45):
real love, because when you're young and you are in
love for the first time, your heart isn't all scarred
up like those of us that are a little more
cynical and bitter from the years of disappointment and heartbreak.
And I know, after doing this show for all these years,
(01:05):
I know some of the sweetest relationships, the sweetest marriages,
are people who fall in love when they're young, commit
to each other and see each other through the tough times. Hi,
good evening, you've called the Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
My name is Juliana.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Hi Juliana, welcome. What can I do for you tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I was wondering if I could dedicate a song to
my loving boyfriend.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
What's your honey's name? His name is Gavin, And tell
me what you want to share with the world about Gavin.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Gavin is the sunshine in my cloudy days, and he
always puts a smile on my face. He's probably the
sweetest person I have ever met. And I know I'm
only young and in love, but we really see a
future with each other, and I don't know where I
(02:05):
would be without him. He's my biggest blessing and I
thank God every day for him and his character and
his loving smile.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Can I share something with it? Juliana Sure. I have
been doing this show for a very long time, and
I have taken tens of thousands of calls from people
throughout the years. People falling in love, people getting divorced,
people celebrating anniversaries. And do you want to know who
(02:36):
the happiest people are that I talked to on the show?
Who people who fell in love when they were young
and manage to make their relationships last for decades. The
people who fall in love when they're young, don't bring
(02:57):
a lot of baggage to the union, and they don't
bring all that those garbage bags to the union. Have
a much happier union. When they call me and say, all,
we just celebrated our thirty year anniversary. We were only
sixteen and seventeen, when we've always just celebrated our You know,
(03:20):
so when young people call and say, I'm in love,
but I nobody believes that at this age we can
be in love. I believe you can, and I believe
you can make it last if you are mature enough
to do that.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh well, our year and a half, we've been going
very strong, and I love them very very much.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Hi, Jasmine, So what can I do for you, sweet
young lady?
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Hi, So, I wanted to maybe if you could pick
a song. So, me and my boyfriend have actually been
together for about four years, and we've just recently moved
in together, and I just thought it'd be kind of
cool if you could pick a song for us.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
What's his name? His name is Dayalen, And what do
you want to tell me about your sweetheart?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
I don't know. We've been together since we were pretty young,
and we've just grown a lot together and We've been
able to travel like all across the US together, and
I'm just really thankful for that.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
When you say you were pretty young, how young were
you when you fell in love with Daylan?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yes, ma'am, I was sixteen and now I'm twenty, so you.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Were very young. I didn't even know, like what my
favorite color was at sixteen, let alone who I wanted
to spend my life with. I thought I knew, but
that changed every other month or so.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah, sometimes it happens unexpectedly.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Well, I think when you have a certain character. I know,
like some of my friends from high school fell in
love when they were even younger than you were, and
they're still married. I wasn't that way. I wasn't a
rock solid person. I was so flighty and so not
capable of committing to anything. It took me a long time.
(05:12):
You're probably more mature right now at twenty than I
was at forty. Oh wow, That's why I can give
advice on my show, because I did everything wrong, so
I can tell everybody what not to do. So what
can I play for you? And Daylan is? Do you
have a song on your heart or you want me
to find one?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I would like for you to find one.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
We don't really have a specific song together.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Actually, oh then let me let me go to work
and find a beautiful song for you two that can
be your song.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Awesome, thank you?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
By bye? Whytt?
Speaker 4 (05:58):
How are you good? How about yourself?
Speaker 1 (06:01):
I'm wonderful? What can I do for you?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I just wanted you to pick out a song from
my own wonderful girlfriend. We've been dating on and off
now for about three years, and she's my next door neighbor.
We've been best friends for fifteen years. And this past
Christmas I got her a promise ring, and you know,
we're just moving forward.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
How old are you? Nineteen nineteen is a good age
to buy a promise ring saying I promise I love you.
And when I'm in a different place and we're a
little more mature, it'll be an upgrade.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Tell me why you love her so much?
Speaker 4 (06:38):
She's just she's my rock. I mean, she's been there,
they're ticking thin, and she's always stood by me and
made sure that we persevere.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
So is she your best friend? Of course?
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Do you know how important that's going to be as
you grow an age and mature.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
So I've been told I mean, it's starting to make sense.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
I wish I had that wisdom when I was your age.
You know, I thought friends were in one category, and
boyfriends and lovers and who I was going to marry
was in the he has to be gorgeous and funny category.
It wasn't until I was much older that I went,
wait a second, wait one dog on second, Maybe I
(07:18):
should have been thinking about the friendship and the value
of that instead of are they gorgeous and funny? But
they did make pretty babies, that's a plus. Let me
find a song for you, young man. Congratulations, thank you? Hi.
(07:43):
Who's this?
Speaker 5 (07:44):
This is Katie?
Speaker 1 (07:45):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 5 (07:47):
I actually have an amazing story. It starts back when
I was six years old and my parents are in
the military, and we were stationed at a base and
of very good friends lived there, and we quickly became
really good friends with them again, and over the weekends,
(08:07):
you know, they'd be at our house or we'd go
over there, and they actually had a son my age,
and we were in each other's classes each year in school,
and we quickly became best friends. And I fell for
the traditional puppy love, and three years later I ended
up moving away and lost all contact with him. And
(08:30):
now eight nine years later, I have gotten back in
contact with him online and it's just amazing.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
And how old are you now? I'm eighteen, so not
so much puppy love now, it's kind of young adult
love it was.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I guess you could say it is now.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
But well, you say you got back in touch with them.
Are you just getting back in touch with them as friends?
Are you getting back in touch with them because you
still have a crush on him like you did when
you were a little girl.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
You could probably say both. Huh.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Now does he know this? Have you been upfront about that?
Or does he think that you're just a friend.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
I'm thinking it's more of along the line of him
thinking it's a friend.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Okay, so this will just be between us, Okay, Katie,
I'll hardly mention it to anyone. Okay, maybe maybe one
or two people might hear this story. Possibly possibly there's
a slight chance that it'll be heard by a couple
of folks. But I'll try to just keep it between
you and I. What's his name? His name is Eric,
(09:33):
But we're not going to tell anyone. Okay, no problem,
all right, Let me find a song for you too.
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah
