Speaker 1 (00:02):
Calls media, all right, this another church aty church rapidy rap.
It's Theobrojian episode which you could DM me as much
as you on IFANN argue with you. I remember twenty
twelve I wrote this poem called Precious Puritans, and it
was on one of my best selling albums called Excellent,
(00:25):
And it was essentially when I swareried into being a
Christian in public as far as like as a performer.
I had no idea, because I don't I ain't know.
They love to Puritans like that, especially like the Reformed.
It's a certain type of for y'all to have no
(00:46):
idea what I'm talking about. You know, Christian got all
kinds of subgenres, you know, some more weird than others,
and all of which well not all of which, most
of which claiming to say that you know, they figured
it out. Everybody else don't know what theology really go. Now,
(01:07):
the people who are the most in my opinion, notorious
for believing that day the police for all theology is
the Reformed Calvinist circle. It's a whole other world that
we don't have time to discuss right now. But when
I swaight into that world, I had no idea. They
love the Puritans the way that they loved them, And
(01:28):
to me that was so odd because I was like,
you understand, this was during Chatto slavery. There's even records
of them being chaplains on slave ships. Like the cognitive
dissonance of that sentence in my mind is insane, right,
And it was the Quakers and the Jesuits and just
(01:48):
these other Christian faiths that was like, are y'all insane?
This is a scourge. What are you talking about? Anyway,
So with a poem called Precious Puritans, and it essentially
was like, I don't understand how you think I'm gonna
be willing to listen to anything you got to say
after you quoted a Puritan like I just I with
(02:13):
no caveats, with no asterisks. And then the crux of
it was like, just like you should put some caveats
and asterisks on me, like it was supposed to like
hammer hitting on both nails. But either way, that was
the time of that was the blog era, and the
blogs went crazy over your boy and kind of put
me on the map as far as like starting my career.
But all that to say, this is such a concern
(02:37):
about getting the notions right. As long as you got
the concepts right, Bible nerves, the orthodoxy, then your orthopoxy,
meaning how you applied this stuff is less important as
long as you're presenting the right words. And of course
a weird version that finds some crossover is the Christian nationalist,
(03:01):
but specifically the dominion dudes that kind of believe that
they got a mandate from heaven and it was preordained
and predestined. But again this is me nerding out on
some stuff that don't matter. The point I'm trying to
make is eventually, and I feel like, if you're kind
of into the book, actually you understand this. I don't
really care about what you say you believe. You showed
(03:23):
me what you believed by your actions, so I have
no interest in having theological discussions with you. You showed
me what you believed. Nothing else to talk about as
far as auguser. The minute you start showing me something different,
then I'm gonna start believing the words that come out
of your mouth. I don't care if you understand super
(03:45):
laps arianism, and you can explain the Roman road to
me about the Gospel. I know what you believe about
the gospel. You showed me. And I tell you what,
somebody going harder than all of us is Miss Rachel
taping with me. Now check this out. Uh, do you
(04:21):
do you got a toddler? Do you know a toddler?
Are you do you have friends who have a toddler?
Then if they do, talk ask them about Miss Rachel. Boy. Y'all,
remember what Yo Gabba Gabba was to a generation of people.
You understand what I'm talking about. What DJ Lance became
(04:44):
two children. Let me tell you something. This woman walk
on water. The children she is serving the children. She
got over a million followers and subscribers on YouTube. She
making these kids things where kids get to learn songs
and stuff like that. And it turns out she a
(05:05):
hella devout Catholic. Now let me set the Catholic aside
right now, because we won't talk about that in a second.
Whatever you believe about your eschatology and all that, sit
that to the side right now. Like I said, I
don't need to know what your documents say. I don't
even care what you think about her documents. I know
what she believes. You know how I know she's sitting
(05:28):
in front of the detention center right now, so, here's
the thing about miss Rachel. She's openly publicly and definitively
full throated advocated for the children affected by the Israeli
war in Gaza, children without food and shelter in Sedan
and the Democratic Republic of Congo, children in the UK,
(05:48):
and most recently, the children in the Immigration's custom center
enforcement detention camps in the United States. She is an
official ambassador of Save the Children and is partnering with
the Sudanese nonprofit to build children's community learning centers in
their country. She used their cameo you know that kind
of funny like app where you can pay a celebrity
(06:09):
to talk to you. She's using this to record videos
for the little ones and donating all the money to
the Save the Children Emergency Fund. Your next question would
be what is to Save the Children Emergency Fund. What
they do is they provide funding and support and remote
commodity corners of the world that specifically targeted towards children,
(06:30):
whether it's health, education, protection, resilience, emergency funds. And it
was founded over one hundred years ago, right and committed.
I'm reading from their website. Of course, you can take
that as you want. But it was founded one hundred
years ago and has been committed to ensuring all the
children's rights and recognize we promote change from the ground
(06:50):
by engaging children, their families, and their communities. Together with
the children, they work with governments and international organizations to
ensure children's rights on the political agenda. So it's a
top down, bottom up like we do at Search for
Common Ground. Either way, she's donated all the money Today programs,
(07:12):
she sat outside of a detention center, an ice detention center,
put together a show in front of that, and also
her public show on her YouTube has included many, many,
many LGBTQ plus singers and educators, and it's constantly shared
videos celebrating members of the LGBT community. When she faced backlash,
(07:37):
do you know what my sister said? The gospel don't
say love your neighbor, love every neighbor, except my girls say.
They asked her why she do this, She said, Nigga
the gospel. Sometimes I'll reflect on the question where's the
worst place in the world to be a child? I
feel very called to help the children, wherever they might be.
She believes that her place on earth, the reason she's here,
(08:01):
is to serve, love and protect the kids. She say
her mama was a social worker. She did all kind
of volunteering at hospice for a year. She assisted in
the suit Kinsha. She joined the Big Brothers and Big
Sisters During her adolescent She even considered going to seminary
before deciding on a career and teaching. What I'm saying
is the YouTube lady going harder than all of us.
(08:22):
She recently spoke up about Nolan Wells and about his situation.
What I'm saying is she showed me what she believed
with her actions. Now, far be it for me to
say the only way to get to this position in
life is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is
not at all what I'm saying. I find that when you,
(08:45):
I don't know, think other humans matter, you land essentially
in the same place, which is, I don't think you
should be doing this to the kids. I just feel
like this should be easy for us to understand. And
if that is her lens into advocacy to speak on
Black lives matter, to speak on police injustice, to speak
(09:09):
on this genocide that's happening, and to speak on these
ice raids that are obviously on the wrong side of history.
She's speaking on all of it. For her, she was
just like, look and this is the gospel. I just
I feel like, oh, man, what is a what's that
man's name? I'm looking at Cornell West say he say
(09:31):
this is this show theology with skin on? You understand
what I'm saying. Look, she going harder than all of us.
And you might argue that, Look she's she's a YouTuber,
she's able to make the money she makes, she's a star.
She could do what she wants. But you know what
she did. She leveraged her position for those who can't
(09:54):
advocate for ourselves, and all of us can do that
at whatever level you at, all of us can do that.
I ain't saying you can afford to donate one hundred
percent of your income to something because you made enough,
but proportionally we could do the same. So what I'm
saying is show me your faith by your works. And
then my last thought is this, set aside the theology
(10:18):
of all of it. Just put it aside for a second.
I'm watching a lot of political pundits, specifically on the right,
tout her as some sort of communist, anti American plant
somebody that's leading our kids astray, And I feel like
the last person you want to make an enemy out
of is the lady who's teaching our kids and who
(10:41):
our children deeply love. I think you should lead that
lady alone, all right, tap in with me,
