Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Good morning everyone, Thanks for joining us for today's Morning run.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
It's Wednesday, November twelfth.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'm Amy Robots and I'm TJ Holmes. Did you see
the lights? Everybody's talking about the lights. We woke up
to text messages from people showing us the lights. Yes,
Aurora Borealis a hell of a show last night.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I mean I have gone to the Arctic Circle I
think three or four times and never got to see
them until the last time. Annalice woke up or I
guess she was staying up late and Boulder, Colorado, my youngest,
and she sent the most gorgeous, gorgeous pictures.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
I mean, my goodness, pink, purple green lighting up.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
The sky in Colorado.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
And a lot of people all over the country got
to see this extraordinary show. Some of them even got
a little bit of a show this morning. I didn't
see it. You have some cloud cover. I don't think
New York was really on the list of places, but
about half the country was able to possibly see. Yes,
this storm. Essentially, there's a storm going on at the
sun of those particles make their way here to us.
(01:03):
All that stuff interacts with our atmosphere and the gases,
and it causes the lights. That's the short story. But
it was a hell of a show last night.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Sorry we missed it.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Hope you all got to see it. Well, maybe some
members of Congress got to see it on their way
back to d C. Yes, the House of Representatives gonna
be at work for the first time in two months.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yes, about time.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
They make one hundred and seventy four thousand dollars a
year and never missed a paycheck and also have missed
a bunch of days of work. And you a lot
of you out there have missed paychecks. You've missed food benefits,
all kinds of things. But yes, there's a lot to
report on that front and the other thing. Just as
a personal note here, has everybody seen the latest episode
(01:44):
of All's Fair on Hulu? The Kim Kardashian show. This
is my new obsession?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yes, but it was actually.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
It's my new if I can't, I can't even after.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
The last episode, you still want to keep watching it.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
You can't get enough of that show. I cannot get it.
It's like my Mommegan, Remember I got obsessed with that
show on Netflie it's my new obsession, so you will
please check that out.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, you know, I love to look at all of
the home design and the fashion choices.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
So for that alone, I will watch with.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
You choices not ideas, because this stuff is weak.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
There not to be replicating there, Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Folks, but glad to get to on this Wednesday morning run.
Also on this run, we'll be talking about your Thanksgiving
travel plans, JFA's grandson, Jimmy Kimmel, baby formula, whooping cough,
and Mega millions, all that on this morning's run. But
we have to start robes with the shutdown.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
It's still happening, right, Yeah, it's day forty three of
the government shutdown, and if all goes as well today
in Washington as they say it may, this shutdown will
not get to a day forty four. From our lips
to God's ears, right, A House committee over and I
voted to send a senator proved compromise bill to the
(02:56):
full House for a vote, which could come as early
as this after.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So this bill does not guarantee an extension of healthcare subsidies, yes,
those Obamacare subsidies, which was the Democrat stated purpose of
shutting down the government. They didn't get that. Instead, what
this bill does have is funding for the government at
its current levels through January at least. It also reverses
shut down layoffs. That's great. Also guarantees full back pay
(03:23):
for workers. That's great as well. It also funds some
programs like SNAP for a full year, so if another
shutdown does happen, God forbid, at least we wouldn't have
to worry about that. Bro, this was a big deal.
We know this travel wise, they're all over the country.
We had weather, and you've got all of these cancelations
and a lot of these members of Congress, they've been
(03:43):
on social media talking about their challenges. They're taken planets and.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Automobiles, the challenges that they created.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Okay, fine, if you want to add that last part.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yes, okay, I don't think anyone. It's like the world's
tiniest violin and you like sometimes when I'm planning, you
like to play that song that's in my.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Head right now.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Mm hmm. He didn't need a.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, that one. That one all right?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Next up on the run, Well, this was kind of
good news bad news. We got an update from Transportation
Secretary Sean Duffy, who has now become a household day,
like he is the most well known cabinet member at
this point right now in the Trump administration.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
To sound crazy, I was thinking, man, this guy could
run for president Sean Duffy. The reason I'm saying that
is because we're turning to him almost It felt like Cuomo,
Governor Cuomo during COVID every day, give me the update,
every day, give me the update. And if someone has
a calm at least demeanor, you feel like they're being
straight with you. I have to give him.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Credit, and he is being straight with us, which has
been you know, it's been a little disturbing to hear
what we are facing in air travel these days. But
at least we know what to expect before we head out.
So here's the good news. Sean Duffy said, Tuesday was
a better decent day, relatively speaking, in this situation we're
in for air trapplers.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yes, Corney Duffy, there was a decrease and the number
of air traffic controllers, calling out his exact words, today
was a much better day. A lot more air traffic
controllers are coming in, Like I said, that's straight forward, right.
He said, there were eighty one staffing triggers on Saturday.
We've talked about these staffing triggers where things get to
a certain point so many people having called in, they
(05:25):
have a staffing trigger, so they have to change things.
So only four of those yesterday, they were only short
so much that they had to essentially change schedules four
times versus eighty one over the weekend. That's great.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Do you think it had anything to do with Trump
saying if you don't call out, we'll give you a
ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Bonus one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
That's what I was thinking, Ding, Dinging. I don't think
that was coincidental. However, Duffy did offer this warning still,
you will not get to Thanksgiving if the shutdown continues.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
That is not what Analyse wants to hear.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
He warned that if the government is not opened up
by the weekend, we will see massively more disruptions at airports.
In other words, he says it's going to radically slow
down even if Congress votes to reopen the government today.
By the way, Duffy said, the planned forced airline cancelations
will continue through this week, eventually getting to that ten
(06:17):
percent reduction by the end of the week, But he
did have.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Good news for air traffic controllers.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
In addition to that, potentially ten thousand dollars bonus if
you never missed a day of work. He said, they're
going to get seventy percent of their back pay within
twenty four to forty eight hours of the government reopening.
That's pretty remarkable, and then the rest will be in
their hands in a week.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
That is awesome.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
That's for the government especially. That's I'll believe it when
I see it.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Hey, look a part of this as well. They hear
that and see that about they want to make sure now, okay,
I got a job. Apparently the pay is going to come.
They're coming around to now, okay, let me get my
boot back to work. And that's understandable. The ten thousand
I would like to keep following up to see if
anybody gets that ten I would too say, he said,
all if you missed no days yep during the shutdown,
(07:04):
all right, continu you're go on the run here now
and Robes, you were pointing this story out to me
with a day or two ago, and I said, well,
this is a actually said, I said, it was a
baby formula that is not a big seller. It's organic,
but now it has expanded to a way that almost
my jaw dropped. If you've been watching this, folks, They
now say at least fifteen babies have been hospitalized. This
(07:27):
is connected to a baby formula recall that's expanded to
include all baby formula made by by Heart. This is
an organic baby formula company. But rob this is kind
of incredible. Everything they make they're pulling off the shelf
and if you have it in the house, you need
to throw it out. And this is all over a
(07:48):
botulism risk.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, you say botulism and babies, and yes, that's a
frightening thing to think about. No babies have died, that
is the good news. But yes, at least fifteen babies
in twelve states have been sickened enough that they had
to go to the hospital. By Heart makes organic baby formula.
The outbreak was first noticed back in August, so the
company voluntarily recalled some lots of their formula. But now yes,
(08:11):
it's taking the step of pulling it all of it
from the market. The formula has been sold in stores
like Target, Walmart, and Whole Foods.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Okay, I couldn't just off the top of my head
I hear it, but I couldn't describe. Botulism. A rare
illness affects kids, usually under a year old. It's caused
by a toxin that the little ones just can't fight
off because they don't have a mature enough gut microbiome
system to fight this thing off. It can cause paralysis
death in kids, and you have to get them, they say,
(08:39):
to the hospital immediately, as soon as you see anything.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
This is a crazy side note, but botulism is obviously botox.
I don't know if you put two and two together.
So the paralysis when some of us women put botox
in our faces, it's actually paralyzing our muscles. But when
you are pregnant, you cannot get botox injections. That is
a huge, huge no no. So that's my only knowledge
(09:04):
of what botulism is. I guess I didn't even realize
that it was organically occurring in certain substances where I
can get in.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
So, wow, scary stuff.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
They are absolutely folks need to be on alert. And
again it's not a big seller, but this is a
scary This is a scary recall.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
It certainly is all right.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Next up on the run, Speaking of scary there is
an alarming increase in cases of whooping cough. Texas officials
have issued a health alert as the state has recorded
thirty five hundred cases of whooping cough infections in the
state this year.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Okay, so we needed some context for that thirty five
hundred number, and here it is that's the highest number
they've seen since twenty fourteen. Okay, but get this, it's
ten times higher than just two years ago. That is
a big deal. In robes. This stood out to me
here because we were talking about measles out of Texas,
and the same reason it took off there is because
(10:00):
there has been a decrease, they say, in vaccination rates.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
I was before I got to that part of the story.
I thought, wow, this sounds a lot like measles West Texas.
A large population in that area is unvaccinated. A lot
of people point to the fact that during COVID a
lot of folks just didn't get babies vaccinated. So now
they're turning what five six, and so this is now
spawning illnesses that were once contained.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
But we're also don't we have a theme and more
conversation these days about vaccines and not necessarily talking about
how safe they are, but questioning their safety for years now,
I mean since COVID there's been debates about sure vaccines
that necessarily hasn't been in favor of vaccines correct.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Well, and then RFK Junior being the head of AHHS
and certainly his very well known stance on questioning the
safety and efficacy of vaccines and the necessity of them.
But we are going to see what the results of
all of that information and all of this well, this
new trend, it seems to be that parents are opting
out all right.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Well, folks, stay with us here on this Wednesday Morning
run when we come back. Jimmy Kimmel an emotional night
for him. Also why his show is taking several nights off.
Also coming up, JFK's grandson is getting into politics, and yes,
it is time to go buy a lottery tickets.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Stare continuing our Wednesday morning run. Next up on the run, Man,
it was an emotional night for Jimmy Kimmel. He paid
tribute to his childhood friend and his show's banned leader,
Cleto Escabido. Escabido passed away at the age of fifty nine,
(11:48):
and no cause of death was released.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
We're not sure what happened.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
You pointed this out last week. You actually wanted to
do a story about it, given all this going on
with Kim Kimmel in the politics and with Trump, he
just out of the blue. The show was it didn't
show Thursday.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Yeah, late Thursday. There was a cancelation.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Some of the artists that were scheduled to perform, or
some of the actors who were supposed to be on
the show were actually saying, Hey, whoops, guys, I'm here,
but turns out the show is canceled, so hopefully, you know,
I'll see you assume. But I was supposed to be
on Kimmel, so there was no explanation. They put a
rerun up.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Why do I know? It was Tate McCrae and David mccompany,
that's where. But yes, they were there, so that everybody
was wondering what was going on. It turns out he
was probably trying to tend to or be with his
friend at the time. This is not just his friend,
this is not just somebody he worked with. This was
his best friend Rose. I did not know their history.
They met at the age of nine, growing up together
(12:40):
in Vegas. Escabiado followed his dad's footsteps became a professional musician.
They kind of went there. They stayed friends, but they
were doing their own things professionally. Kimmel gets his show,
calls his best friend say come, I want you to
be a part of this show. He had to sell
Disney on the Guy because there was some reservations where
you just want to bring one of your boys in
kind of a thing. They loved Escubido. Escabido's dad was
(13:03):
in the Damn Band with him. That's just a dream
come true for kids that grew up together. And so
he's passed away now at the age of fifty nine.
They were together twenty three years on that show, and
the show is going to take some days off for
I mean to mourn, to deal, to pass, I mean
to be with that show twenty.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Years fifty nine, remember too, And that's just so young
and shocking, and you could. I mean to watch Kimmel
try to get through His opening monologue was difficult, but
so heartfelt and just it was beautiful, honestly to see
that kind of love.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
You know, it's rare these days. I feel like were
so quick to just I.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Don't know, be in these conversations about people hating each
other and disrespecting each other. Just to see that kind
of bond, that kind of friendship. It's a beautiful thing,
even in the middle of grief.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
In entertainment as well, in the middle of entertainment, that
that friendship was on display every night. That's a cool story,
all right.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Next up on the Run.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
New York is buzzing this morning because Jack Schlosberg has
entered the race for the twelfth congressional district here in Manhattan.
He is the thirty two year old grandson of President
John F.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Kennedy.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Yeah, this district, as the fourteenth, it is as high
profile and prestigeous of a district as you can get
here in New York. It's been held for seventeen terms
by Jerry Natler. He says he's not gonna seek reelection
actually say what he wanted to hand it off to
somebody younger. Schlosburg certainly is younger, thirty two years old.
This district road it is the heart of Manhattan, the
(14:34):
top of Central Park down to West Village and everything
in between. So you're talking Times Square, Penn Station, Upper
west Side, upper East Side, all of this. This is
a very very important district. But Slosburg is the son
of Caroline and he is the cousin. Okay, I always
get this mixed up. His first cousin once, removed second
(14:55):
cousin twice. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
We're never going to end that debate their cousins.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
But he may the announce social media last night, and
he has publicly he has taken issue with his cousin
Ork Junior.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yes he Oh, he's been very outspoken making sure everyone
knows he is not aligned with his cousin's ideology.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
I think most people assume that RFK is not aligned
with most of the other Kennedy clan ideology.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Ah. Yeah, so that will be a race to watch
next up on the run.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Actually it's the final leg of our run because Mega
Millions is getting serious.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Everybody nobody matched all six numbers, and last night's drawing,
I saw that the numbers were going way up and
it was.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Just too cold and too windy here in New York.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
But I actually considered going out and getting a lottery
ticket before the drawing last night.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Glad I didn't.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Are you yours could have been the one? Don't they
say you have to be in whether the chances of
winning are one in two hundred and ninety five million.
If you don't have a ticket, your chances are zero.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
That's very true, and that's why we will be going
out and getting a lottery ticket over the next couple
of days because the next drawing is on Friday, and
it is worth an estimated nine hundred and sixty five
million dollars, so just about at that one billion mark.
What does that mean in terms of if you take
a lump sum, you get what.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Four hundred and forty five million. If you live in
Texas or Florida or Tennessee or one of the other
states that don't have date income taxes, you're going to
come out a whole lot better with that four hundred
and forty five million. Then some of us.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Will in New York, but it might be better now than
versus when Mom Donnie comes into office.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Right stop, it comepletely just for.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Us New York City folks here all right, a reminder, yes,
of your chances, you've got to have at least a
ticket to be in it, one in two hundred ninety
five million, and we will be among those folks watching
on Friday night with our lottery tickets in hand.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yes, we will, folks. One other programming note here if
you will, if you look at the episode right before
this one in our feed, you will see a conversation
that we had with a lady named Linda Wood. Now,
Linda Wood is having what is an unimaginable next twenty
four hours of her life because as of this recording tomorrow,
in twenty four hours, about twenty four hours, her son
(17:14):
is scheduled to die. He is on death row in
Oklahoma and the only person right now that can save
him is the Republican governor. However, the Parole Board has
recommended clemency. What will the governor do? We examine this case, Robes.
This is one we have been looking into for several
weeks now. This is one with a lot of questions
(17:35):
about the kind of representation he got and should he
be on death row at all, But the clock is
ticking to save his life, the.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Clock is ticking, and to hear from his own mother
and her two granddaughters, the nieces of Tremaine Wood. It
is a powerful conversation that we really hope you will
take a moment to listen to again the episode before
this one, but before we leave you on this Wednesday,
we have our quote of the day, brought to you
by TJ.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Holmes.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
If you don't have a seat at the table, then
you're probably on the menu. This too, I believe it
was in the file, but it came from my pastor.
I'm not sure how it speaks to you when you
hear it, but the idea there is you have to
be engaged. You have to be involved. You can't just
step away and hope things are going to be okay
or somebody is going to do it for you, because
(18:26):
if you are not willing to be engaged and let
somebody else in that room over there, you looking through
the window having a discussion, and they're probably discussing you,
and it's probably not in a good way.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Yeah, it's basically a call to action, a call to service,
a call to be a part of things and not
just to stay on the sidelines and hope for the best,
but to be involved and to put in your own
two sentences important we all speak up.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
I believe this was my past and it sounds like
a way he would put it. But yes, if you
don't have a seat at the table, then you're probably
on the menu. Then with that, folks, always appreciate you
spending some time with us. For now, I'm tj Holm.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
And I'm Amy Robot. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
M hm hm
