Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, folks, it is Sunday, July twentieth, and monsters are real.
People need to stop growing up. You saying Bolton has
some inspiration for you, and we have the most dangerous
thing you can do in life. All of that in
this Sunday Inspiration edition of Amen TJ. Roolmes, I kind

(00:23):
of summed up all of your quotes that you pulled
for our Quote of the day every day that we
do Morning Run, and this is where we do a
collection and do a little back, get a little background
on somebody's.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yes, Sunday's are the perfect days, whether you like to
go to church, you want to meditate, listen to your
favorite podcast. But this is such a good day just
to reflect and then to reassess and get ready for
Monday and all the days to follow. So, yes, this
is the perfect day to go over our quotes of
the day, and we have a bonus quote for you
at the end of the podcast. So we'll begin with

(00:53):
our Monday quote of the day.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Monsters are real and ghosts are too. They live inside
us and sometimes they win. I will have you all
know that was the quote on Tuesday. Because Robes just
looked up and wait a minute, I told him Monday. Yeah,
my screen hadn't scrolled down, so our Tuesday quote that was,

(01:17):
let's stick with that one. But monsters are real. Ghosts
are real too. They live inside us and sometimes they win.
This this quote, it makes sense that the idea of
referring to monsters and ghosts for an inspirational quote would
come from.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
This guy, Stephen King. He is one of my favorites,
one of our favorite authors, and just a brilliant man altogether.
But I love what he said there because we are
our own worst enemies. I mean, we are the cause
of all of our suffering, and so I just we
live in the past. We can't let go of things.
We create problems that don't even exist. So I just

(01:54):
love how he put this in true Stephen King fashion.
Monsters are real and ghosts are real too. They live
inside us, and sometimes they win. Let's not let them
win by recognizing them. Right. The first step is acknowledging.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
What did you say? We don't realize where the cause
of our own suffering? Yeah, isn't that by default the
majority of folks we always believe that our suffering is
caused by some outside force, and oftentimes somebody in particular.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Sure, we always demonize other people so that we can
We always try to defend how we're feeling by blaming
someone else for the reason why, instead of asking ourselves
why we are reacting, why we are being so emotional,
what inside of us is so bothered? And when you
can do that, you can end your suffering because it's
not in someone else's power or in someone else's control,

(02:49):
It's in yours. And so I yeah, I think this
quote is an amazing way to put all of that.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
So I guess it makes perfect sense. We should go
from Tuesday now to the Monday. I'm going to go
back now to the Monday quote. This is one of
the longer ones we've done, but it makes sense. And
this one needed a little explanation, but it does deliver
at the end.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
It does, so just bear with us, guys, because I
think this is a really fun one and I actually
want to write this down. I could put this on
a wall. Before you speak, listen before you write, think,
before you spend, earn, before you invest, investigate, before you criticize,
wait before you pray, forgive, before you quit, try, before

(03:31):
you retire, save, before you die. Give. Wouldn't that be
something to just be able to see each day. Wouldn't
it change your day to just have that in your.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Head before you made a decision or reacted anytime you
got emotional. If you just took a beat, how long
does that take fifteen seconds or so?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
To read?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
If you just gave yourself that moment to read that,
I bet you would make a different decision.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
I know mantras are just usually one phrase you utter
over and over again, but I could almost see myself
recording this in a voice memo, and then if I'm
feeling frustrated or I feel anxiety bubbling up, you could
just literally press play on this and breathe with it.
And I think it would change the course of your day.

(04:18):
It would change how you reacted. It would change your
mood and your energy almost immediately.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
The whole thing before you speak, listen. That applies to
any conversation you have almost anywhere. Before you think. That's
a social media warning right there. If you ever seen
it before you spend earn. That just makes common sense.
Your mom had been telling you that since you were
a kid. Before you invest investigate, I hear the word
invest and I automatically think money. But before you invest
time in somebody before you invest energy in somebody, Do

(04:45):
you know what you're getting into? And I think, oh,
that kind of makes sense. This is wonderful. And who
was it coming from?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
You were looking up William Arthur Ward and I really
couldn't figure out which one who it was, but want
to give him credit because I just think that is
so brilliant and some of the most brilliant things. Yes,
this one takes a long time at least to get through,
but it's all very simple. Everything is stuff we already know.
But when he puts it the way he does, it
speaks to us.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
All right, now we're going to get back on track
and get the Wednesday. Now we're back on track. This
one from I guess this is from a guy who
has impacted every single one of our lives, our kids' lives,
and probably our parents in some way.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
All right, this one here was our Wednesday quote of
the day. Too many people grow up. That's the real
trouble with the world. Too many people grow up. They forget,
they don't remember what it's like to be twelve years old.
They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well, I won't
do that. That is from the late great Walt Disney.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That's kind of amazing. You know, I don't know that
much about his backstory. I don't know that much about
it history, but this quote, it sounds like he almost
considered himself a mister Rogers of the kids entertainment world
in some way. But to have him they patronize, they

(06:12):
treat children as inferior as well. I won't do that.
It's almost he was I don't know, connecting with them
in some way, or meeting them where they were, or frankly,
isn't that where we should be in that sense of wonder.
We say this all the time about people always looking
for somebody to grow old with, but instead they should
be looking for somebody to stay young with, stay a

(06:33):
kid with.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
We nail that, yeah, And I think, you know, look,
when you get a little bit older and have a
little bit more patience, you can just watch children gleefully, squealing, running.
They don't care what they look like, they don't care
what they sound like, they don't care about who's looking
at them, and they I just love watching kids skipping
or just finding beauty and shells, all those little things.

(06:56):
So yeah, I think about that, and we lose that
as we get or cynical, we are worrying all the time,
we're in our heads. Kids are in the moment in
every way. So I just I thought it was another
nice reminder to stay young and to stay youthful. I
guess maybe is a better way to put that.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
What is it? You always point out even a difference
in the attitude the behavior of kids, girls in particular,
when they hit a certain age, right, they're so outgoing
and energetic and crave and just the confidence. And then
when they hit a certain age, you can tell they
start behaving they're more conscious of something.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yes, yes, I mean, I think a lot of folks
say it's when young girls get their periods, but sometimes
even before. I believe the latest study said it's around
ten is the last full year a girl has that
fierce feeling of freedom and maybe not even an equalness,
but even superiority. There's just a large and in charge
confidence about girls ten and under that is so beautiful

(07:56):
that you hate to see so many of them lose
when they go through puberty. But it's something we can reclaim.
So I just like, let's watch kids, Let's be more
like kids that took.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Us through Wednesday, but Thursday and Friday we're doozies because
on Thursday, a gold medal winner will tell you the
measure of who you really are. Also, then on Friday
we found out the most dangerous thing you can do
in life.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Welcome back to your Sunday morning run. And as we're
going over our inspirational quotes of the day this week,
we'll go to Thursday now, where we heard some very
inspirational words from you. Say Bolt, he was the fastest
man in the world right at one point.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yes, he might still hold the world record. I should
look that.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
What a good name for the fastest man in the world,
right Bold? Could it be any better? Mister Bolt?

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Even you sane sounds.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Like he's not insane, he's you sane.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
You saying Bolt?

Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's yeah, you know what.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
You put a very good, very good quote together here,
and I do quote, mister Bolt. The measure of who
we are is how we react if something doesn't go
our way.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
It is so true when you get cut off in traffic,
when you lose the account, when your boyfriend or girlfriend
dumps you. You know, it's all of these moments. Even
if something as silly as we have to stand in
line too long. You know, we start realizing when when
things aren't working out the way we think they should
or how they're supposed to go, how do we react?

(09:41):
And you know, I've had to catch myself. I have
not acted well. I haven't reacted well. And it's so
easy to point out other people's bad behavior. But when
you can finally recognize it in yourself and we all
do it. Whatever your trigger is, whatever your moment, impatience,
whatever it is, when you start seeing yourself behaving a
certain way when things don't go your way, it's just

(10:02):
a moment to recognize it and say it's stop. I mean,
I have traffic. When I get cut off in traffic
when I'm driving, I tend to get irritated in a
way I shouldn't. It doesn't change anything. The other person
can't hear me. It's not making anything different other than
making everyone in the car miserable and myself miserable. So yeah,
I definitely do that.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
How about you, I don't know, trying to think of
something I don't know you've been around. It has to
be rare, so when.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Does it happen? I would say, lines, You won't wait
in line you. I mean, it's not that you act badly,
you just refuse to even spend the extra even if
we need something, you will, you will. Actually, that's kind
of what they say. That's up cutting your nose off
to spite your face. It's like, even though you know
you need to and you should, you know you don't
have the tolerance for it, so you just walk away.
So you do that, but you're not pitching a fit.

(10:53):
Yeah I don't, but you do leave immediately. Can we
just give it a beat and see maybe it's not
going to take as long as you think. You're like,
oh hell no, and you just walk away, all right.
So our Friday quote of the day this one. I loved.
It just serves as an inspiration to go for whatever

(11:15):
it is your dream is, or maybe that vacation you've
always wanted to take, or that thing you've always wanted
to do. Like I think for me, it's at this point,
I think it's jumping out of a plane.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
How about you, Ah, yeah, I've got nothing. Then I
want to do this like that just my.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Shark diving challenging Okay, well that counts. That counts all right.
So the quote of the day is the most dangerous
thing you can do in life is play it safe.
I mean that can count for almost anything. That can
count for a relationship, putting yourself out there, opening up
your heart, risking being rejected. It could also mean going
after that dream job, or just moving across country doing

(11:56):
the thing you've always wanted to do.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
We'll just trying a new food, do you name it?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
That's true?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
How many things I just don't want to pass up?
Don't pass up an opportunity to try something new? And
I don't know. We spend, and so many people spend.
So that's what we do all day and night. Is
protect right, Yeah, supposed to protect ourselves, protect ourselves, protect
ourselves physically and emotionally. Why you got to open it

(12:22):
up a little bit. Ye's so hard to do, and
it's so easy to say, but it is hard to do.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
I know. That goes back to the whole quote about
you always regret the things you didn't do versus the
things you did do. Now, the person who came up
with this quote the most dangerous thing you can do
in life is play it safe. Is a man by
the name and you all may know who this is,
Casey Neistat I actually had to look him up. But
what a cool story. I said this in Morning Ron
that I would love, love, love love to reach out
and see if we could even get him on the podcast.

(12:47):
But this is a dude who went from dropping out
of high school at seventeen, he fathered a child. At seventeen,
he was living in a mobile home park to becoming
a wildly like crazy like gazillionaire, successful YouTuber and personality.
And he is all about just being authentic and real,
showing his mistakes and just an all around cool guy.

(13:10):
He's now into running our friend Matt James like I was.
Actually I totally stalked him. I went onto his Instagram account.
Our friend Matt James is like the first person to
comment on all of this stuff. So this dude is
just so cool. So I love that this was his quote,
and I encourage you know, even when we say who
the folks are who came up with these inspirational quotes,
it is fun to do a deep dive on them
sometimes to learn who they are and why they're even

(13:33):
worthy of being quoted.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Do you have a to do a deep dive on
the guy from the bonus quote today as well?

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Well? That was called high school social studies. So yes,
our bonus quote of the week comes from a man
we all know, or at least were forced to learn
about in school, Thomas Edison. He says, our greatest weakness
lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed
is always to try just one more time.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Love it if you do that, or just try one
more time. It didn't work last time, So what's the
best way for me to succeed is try one more
time it didn't work. So it's something about just that
repetition and the idea that you can never ever stop
if you do this until you succeed. That's a cool quote.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, and he has a lot of quotes about not
giving up, and certainly obviously he's the famous inventor, and
I'm sure there were a lot of failures before there
was that success. So yes, remember this as you continue
or I guess wrap up your weekend, but get ready
to start your week. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.
The most certain way to succeed is always to try

(14:42):
just one more time. So thank you Thomas Edison for
our bonus quote of the week, and thank you for
listening to us each and every Sunday. Please check us
out on Monday through Friday. We've got our morning run
all the top headlines of the day. I'm Amy robock On,
behalf of my partner TJ Holmes. Great Sunday, everybody,
