Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am all in again.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Oh, let's guess you Gilmore Girls Gazette with Amy Sugarman
and Danielle Romo. Then iHeartRadio Podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
We take you back to the spring of twenty eleven.
The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, and we're
all watching Taking the Leap Season two, episode nineteen of
Parenthood and teaser. I have a surprise for you at
the end of this episode.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Not till the end, not till the end. Wow.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Do I think it'll be a fun way to end the episode?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Great, I'm excited for that. Let's begin the episode before
the synopsis by once again saying Joel, Joel and.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Joel Joel, Joel, big time Joel.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
He is the most not I don't want to say
like underrated, he's just forgotten.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
He's so awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
You know that's funny you say that, because when I
started watching these shows again, I was like, oh, yeah,
that guy, like I had kind of forgotten about Joel.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Oh, he's so not that guy because he is handmaids Tale,
Like I love that guy. Yeah, that guy is not
that guy, but he kind of was that guy, and
he was sort of the least famous, maybe and he
is the best, best best. I love them, I love
them as a couple. I love the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Well, that's where we can start in just a moment here,
But first the synopsis. Adam and Christina have an unexpected
meeting with the principle of Maxist School, and Jasmine and
Crosby's new situation makes them feel nostalgic about their past together. Meanwhile,
Julia and Joel face them upsetting news, whereas one of
Zeke's friends is interested in Sarah's play.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Oh my God. One of Zeke's friends Richard Dreyfus.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Richard Dreyfus, who will talk about as well later on.
By the way, Yeah, he's still not that old, like
that guy was old before his time.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Richard. This is the thing that I can say about
Jack Nicholson, Richard Dreyfus, of these, Wilfrid Brimley, A few
of these people, they were old when they were young,
so when they got old, they were never old.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
That's true. Richard Dreyfus. I was watching it. I had
to look him up. He's seventy eight now. He looks
seventy eight on this show.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Wilfrid Brimley, when he was in our house and Cocoon
was like forty years old and he lived to be
like eighty or something, eight ninety something. Yeah, never changed
right after Jack Nicholson. He looked old when he was
in everything. Something's got to give.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
I won with us wrestful to go gray in your twenties,
but you're never going to age.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Then that's the other way. Like Steve Martin looks basically
the same. I'm like a Steve starts. Steve Martin is
Benjamin Button. He's reverse aging, like he looks younger. Now,
I'm like, what is going on? No, I know, it's so,
it's so true.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I think balding and going gray young. Yeah, maybe not
your favorite thing when you're forty, but great when you're eighty.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah. I had a friend go bald in high school
and that was not good. But he's going to be
happy sixty. He's gonna look forty. He's gonna look for
something going on that's young. You're very young. Yeah, but
he got a piece. No, that's yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
No, I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
For years when I knew him, I guess I wasn't looking,
but you know, he's a high end piece. Expensive Anyway,
we digress.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Topic number Immediately, all I think of is Bradley Cooper.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Bless him, bless him. Hotline number one. Julie and Joel
struggling to get pregnant. Joel defensive about his fish and
how well they saw.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Him when she when he's in the room and he
calls her and she's like, I'll help you, and then
she up, you can't do it. I love them or
Amber didn't get into cal didn't get into her safety down. Sorry, sorry,
(03:55):
sorry already.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
We're still Joel and his fish and they have a
nice running gag of Sydney continuing to think they're getting
a fish.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
And the end because the issue is Julia in uterine
scarring and they just the way he reacted, the way
she was, they are a great couple. Like just you
cannot tell me they're not a great, great couple.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
And I got weepy when she apologized to him. That
was so heartbreak same.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
I was totally crying this episode.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, that love very good.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
All right, what do you want to do next? I mean,
Richard Dreyfus is sussy a little bit. He is srussy.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Adam Christina going to the principal's office.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Max felt like the principle looked familiar to me.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
We let's back up a little bit. Max has to
pee on the walk, and so they run to the
Lessing's house and there's gathering that feels a little contrived
to me.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
So they need to get Minca. They need to get
Minca back in America.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Just picture the writers and like, how are they going
to get them to burst in?
Speaker 2 (04:56):
It's like, you don't have a handyman that you don't
want to that you kind of gatekeep.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
We are. We are happy to share our handyman.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
We think he's great, and I love my handyman. That's
why I just made me realize. I needed to text
my I'm giving my handyman to one friend. But I said,
don't give them to your friends.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Fair. But I just mean the whole Like, okay, so
let's have them go for a walk just Max and Christina,
which they never do. And then suddenly s to p
and they happened to me to the Lessing's house and
they run up and bang on the door. It just
seemed contrived, didn't seem like away for them to find
out that Gabby was working there. I get that their gatekeeping.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Would they figure it out?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I know, but I felt like the writers had to
reach a little bit to figure it out.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
I'm mean to you, don't go, I get what you're saying,
but like I could see them on a walk. We
know their neighbors now if they're Because Christina referred to
her as her best friend, which I was like, are
they number one? Number two? It kind of mean it.
Look you what she should have done girl from Felicity.
She should have said, yeah, hey, Christina, I gotta tell
(06:06):
you this. I'm so sorry, but I know Gabby quit
and I need her. I'm so sorry. I'm always for
truth telling.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I did like Gabby coming over, though I.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Like Christina's lying. I hope my brother in law was
worth it because he's not the only way you screwed here.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
That was rough, Yeah, harsh, mic drop, But I like
that Gabby came over. Yes, I really like Mina Kelly
plays because that is that feels Minka Kelly. She's very
soft spoken Minka Kelly. She's very gentle like that. So
this was kind of made for her, and I thought,
you know, I thought Gabby would come over and would
(06:47):
kind of do that hey.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Grade at school. As it turns out, I felt like
it was kind of cruel the way they set it
up for Christina and Adam. We need to talk to
you about Matty.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
He's doing great.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Look, do you think they should mainstream him?
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yes, after hearing Gabby's opinion, yes, okay, great good. She's
not a neutral observer, but she's neutral aler than Adam
and Christina.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Are sure about it. I'm not gonna lie nervous.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I think there's but there's there's risks in both directions.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, I think he's going to thrive at school. But
the social is I think here's what it comes down to.
And people can judge me social or academics. I kind
of go with the social, Like the social is so important.
And so it's like, I don't know, I feel like
you say, I think I agree with you. Yeah, So
I'm like, keep him at the school where he's totally happy,
(07:40):
and then have him take extra classes like with a
tutor or something.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Fine.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, right, I'm not sure we're setting them up for success.
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
But they were sweet and they hugged, and but I
love the tension between Adam and Christina. It's really good
because does Adam want this just because he wants a
normal son. Is that why he wants the Matrice? Yes?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, really about Adam always all the time?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
And we had a hate with the amazement part.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
They got Hattie out of moth Ball.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Like a wave from her.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
It's like, so just out of the couch for a
scene and collected a patient.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Wait, I know, I wonder if she I mean, I'm
bringing this stup now, I'm not spoiler alerting whatever. So
Sarah Ramos Hattie leaves the show to go to college.
I can't remember if it's next season, but I think
it might be. Might be the season after, No, it's
a season after. And I wonder if she just was
very into school and couldn't work as much, and they
(08:31):
like kind of accommodated her. Yeah, perhaps because otherwise why
she just waving And where's Michael B.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Jordan? She's barely there. But also there's an element of
they're doing it on grays now. And I think this
was part of Parenthood, maybe more later in Parenthood when
you have such a big cast too many, Yeah, they
just take a couple out for you know, instead of
twenty two episodes, each character gets fifteen episodes. You have
to pay the actors less. Grays is doing it very sloppily.
I think parent who did it really smoothly.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I agree with you. So on Grays you're sort of like,
it's so noticeable the person is missing suddenly. Owen Hunt's
not in an episode. That's odd, is right.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
They'll even say something like, well, he's on assignment right now.
I know.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
I love when they like give a random reason. They
did that on nine on two one oh this week
and they're like, Yelly's not on a hike because blah
blah blah. And you're just like, it's too much, too much.
We didn't we didn't even notice she wasn't there. It's okay,
(09:29):
what next?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Jaz Amber is trying to find the right clothes for
a load.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
First of all, how about guy from the Guy from
a lot of shows? But I think he's from Greek.
I don't know, it's not Michael Foster. Don't did you
ever watch Greek?
Speaker 1 (09:43):
No, you never watched Greek, Never watched Greek.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
He was in a bunch of other stuff too. I
think he was in the So there was a show
called a movie called Limitless, Yeah, and it was a
Bradley Cooper Weirdly that We mentioned him early, and I
think it became a TV show and I feel like
he was the stuff it. Scott Michael Oh, nope, I'm
messed up. It was the other guy from Greek. Ah,
(10:06):
So Scott Michael Foster was in Parenthood crazy ex girlfriend.
Let me make sure he was in Greek before I
messed this up.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Maybe.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
By the way, I looked up Amanda Foreman as well.
She has not worked since twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I imagine she retired or something. Yeah, looks like it.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Greek.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Scott Michael Foster was in Greek, So I did get
that part right. But the other guy in Greek, I
guess was the Limitless guy. He's the late of blirties.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
So Amber shows up at the law firm, which I
really liked. I liked her whole thing with Julia, But like,
you are a successful woman, why does everyone talk about
uncle Adam?
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Totally? That was so that was a great call out
because it's so accurate.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yes, that was really good. And then Gary and Amber
do some weird flirting and then she finds out she
didn't get her safety school and she only applied to two,
which she's interesting to me. A daughter her in college
we applied to like eight to ten schools, and mid
nineteen or something, we were told that is way low.
We made a huge mistake. You applied to so many
(11:04):
more than that. So the fact that she only applied
the times they changed.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
I only applied to four, applied one.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
And I got in and that was it.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
You applied to one college.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
I went to the University of Wisconsin. I never had
any thoughts of going anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Oh my god, I went to Berkeley, but I applied.
I only did one application, checked four boxes, cal UCLA,
Santa Barbara Davis boom boom boom boom boom did he boom, But.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
It's one application.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah, they don't even read the side back. They do now.
I think that back back then, I could have literally
been like, I'm writing this essay, dotty dotty do. I
don't know why she only applied to two. And a
safety is only a safety if you know you're getting in.
So it wasn't a safety, it was a reach.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
And then Carl Berrol calls she didn't get into Berkeley either,
and she's devastated, goes to find him and gets stone.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
And she just goes gets high in the boss's car
I mean, it was so kind of dumb. That was
kind of dumb.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
It was. But then Julia SOFTLM. She was like, I
didn't get into college like anywhere, no sun, but she'll
be fine. I dropped out. Did you graduate college?
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Obviously you dropped out.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
I dropped out after two and a half.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
No, I still have the dream that I go to
class and I don't know anything, and so I had
to get my diploma and I hung it on the wall.
I tried everything to get rid of that dream. But
that dream's not going away. That dream is going to
stay herever. I still have that. I can't remember Locker
College graduated. What I mean, I'm not mad at you
not graduating, but like I graduated.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I did not, So you know, I tell my kids,
figure out your passion and do whatever.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
You Yeah, many successful people don't graduate, but I think
you would like your kids to graduate.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I would. Yes, that's true.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
That's nice to have that.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Zeke is reading.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
So when we talk about Amber for one more second,
kind of annoying, I'm a little I'm a little annoyed
by him by which part getting in the car and
getting high and the whole Sure, Yeah, like, well, Amber
it's trophy. We my favorite word, trope, and we've done this.
It's a trophy for her. We've done this, We've done
this whole thing. So there's that now, Crosby and.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Reading Sarah's play on the Toilet, which was funny, hilarious,
love it, And then he bring Richard Drysill gilliam t
blown his name.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I just love the whole thing and like, what a
get Richard Dreyfus like they get Jaws? What's your favorite,
mister Holland opus, what was your favorite Richard?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
My favorite Richard d movie?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
It is my surprise.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Nope, what is it?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (13:29):
What's it called? Nope? He plays a guy who flies planes?
And what about about firefighter? Fire season?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Was what's out? Forest? Fires on a plane?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Yes? And Holly Hunter is in it and she's excellent
in it, and it's he dies and then she talked
and he's kind of there still even though he dies.
John Goodman is in it.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
What, Oh my god, I know this movie. Now, there's
sort of a switch in this movie or something right
or something always.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
It's called Always.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
I've seen this, I've seen love that movie. There is
some sort of a body switch. It's kind of one
of those type of movies. There is something, there's something
supernaturally about it or something right a.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Young guy does he take over the young guy's.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Body, like there's a body switch.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah, there might be a body switch. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
He's in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
He's in a lot.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I kind of figured out Jaws. Jaws came before Close
Encounters of the Third Kind. The Goodbye Girl, that one
makes me sad. I can't watch that. Wow Down and
out in Beverly Hills stand by me. Oh yeah, he's
he's the I think he's at the end, the writer
at the end. He's the older version of Will Wheaton
or something might be messing that up. I thought Rob
(14:46):
Reiner was the older version the American President.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Oh my god, that's one.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
He's sort of the bad he's the bad guy in it.
It's like the foil whoa wow wow Wow.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
So I had an observation, well one observation, which.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Is odd enjoying Jasmine and Crosby are no listen.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
This is an odd thing to say on a Gilmore
Girls Feed podcast. But Lauren Graham is just a wonderful, winning,
likable actress.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I mean, first of all, I love that we brought
the jeans and the belt back in this episode. There's something.
First of all, I love that look. Lauren Graham is
so cute.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
She cute.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
Can we talk about the fact that she had larynitis
in this episode? That's what I was going to point
out too. She lost her voice. She totally lost her
voice and was like, I'm still just going to come
to her.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
I think she was like.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
She was just so raspy, and I was like, Okay,
you definitely had a cold two weeks ago and this
is the linger, but you're back at work. I'm proud
of you. She's so cool, so cool. I liked the
whole thing. I liked her thing with Richard Dreyfus, and
I'm glad she wasn't like mad at.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Her dad his notes.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yeah, I didn't need her being mad at her like
the whole thing. So yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
And then Zeke so funny the eye is that should
have a toast and like, well, Dad, we're talking about this.
He's a toast, right.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
He's just happy about it?
Speaker 1 (16:16):
All right, Crosby, here we go.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
First of all, it was sweet. I actually, here's my thing.
I was ready for them to get back together, so
I'm just like, Okay, Chasman, time for you to move on.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Okay, Okay, Yeah, I think it is time for you
to move on. I leanst she's right to take us
back to the beginning, Jabbar win Star of the Week,
which brings them together when you have a kid.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
It's like, you know what, I think she should have
just worked it through.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
I do. She worked it through just fine without Crosby
for the first chunk of Jabbar's life. She can keep
doing it. I think she's making the right decision here.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
That's okaying that it was fine for her to not
tell Crosby about Jabbar, which I still stand strong on
that it.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Wantsn't well sure, but I also think that you are
establishing a very dangerous precedent to let Crosby know that
you can sleep with another woman and we will continue
this relationship. I agree.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
All right, Well, uh, this is my thing about it.
It's very TV showy.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Are they back?
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Well, they won't their own back for more? And I'm not.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
I'm not into it. I like like, I kind of
like that Adam and Christina are like together that Joel.
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
I don't know if I need that together, but if
Adam cheated on Christina, they wouldn't be together. I'm telling
you this is.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
A I understand, I understand, but I'm just thinking maybe holistically,
kind of knowing, like they get back together, then they don't.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
They don't. And I focus in one direction where when
they were up there doing the presentation of the class,
it looks like she was soft.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
I know, I know, it's like they tricked us.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Hearts in her eyes. And then she shows up in
the boat thinking he's gonna she's gonna forgive him, and
she gets about to say, I need to move on
from you.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Not love it. I didn't love it.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Okay, well that's fine.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
What should we give our ratings or should I get
my surprise?
Speaker 1 (18:05):
As do the ratings? They the surprise nine, just the
dining low.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I was going to give it higher, but then I
got irritated about Crosby and Jasmine.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
I hear you, and the nine six is because I
did cry at one point.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Yeah, I would give it a high marks for Julia
and Joel and Lauren Graham, even Richard Dreyfus and his
weird Zeke. I'm giving a ten. I love Zeke. No,
Camille we didn't have Camille.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
But not at all. See, there you go. She probably
had the week off and noticed.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
I don't know if they get paid for that, but
they might.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
I don't think they do, but maybe you.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Get when they do an episode. Well, I think they
get some sort of guarantee the other're in the credits
get paid.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Whether or not. Last week we started talking about board games,
started talking about game shows.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
God, oh my god, oh my god.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Of the Pyramid Final round. What I've done is I
went and watched a bunch of YouTube videos. I'm so happy,
and I wrote down seven different one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven different final I'm.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Ready to play. I'm ready to play. We're gonna play today,
but I also need to prevent me.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
From like planning out all of my clues. I got seven,
so you can choose a random one through seven.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Fine, and then we can do another one later. So
first shout out to the person that found a sealed
Sale of the Century. Wow, if anybody can help me
buy it, I'm not great on eBay, but I'll try
to go do it. But if anybody gets it before me,
that would be amazing. Sealed sale of the Century. No germs, Okay,
that's great. Also, my my soulmate, Jason Bateman. You know
(19:30):
he's very germophobe too. I love Jason Baca me too.
I could watch him eat a banana on that plane.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
He's great.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Okay, so I'm ready. We're gonna do one category today.
You pick it at random, just you pick it.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
That's the thing is. I can't pick it at random.
That's why I don't. I don't know. I choose your seven.
Just say one through seven, pike it over three, number three. Okay,
here we go a you ready, yes, all right, let's
see sixty seconds on the clock. Please brutal okay, for
twenty five thousand dollars. Beer is first subject. Just to
be clear, I'm giving you the clues. So when I
say oh, I'm talking to myself. But that's what Dick
(20:04):
