The headlines, the hate and the comments keep coming after a social media post by Meghan Markle over the weekend shows snippets of the Sussex’s new life in the UK. We see the backs of 7-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Lilibet along with the Duke and Dutchess enjoying the English country side. Many are slamming Meghan for “manufacturing interest and curiosity” into her children, while hiding the children’s faces and asking for privacy.  Meantime, SNL UK premiered their second season with an opening skit, skewering the non-working Royals, at one point referencing the longstanding, baseless rumor questioning whether Harry is King Charles’ biological son.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey there, folks. It is Monday, September 14th, and we
are hearing from Meghan Markle for the first time since
moving back to the UK. And the world has responded
rather meanly. And with that, welcome to this episode of
Amy and TJ. It's a cute post, though.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Isn't it? It's a cute post, but she cannot do
anything without getting just massive amounts of controversy and criticism.
She puts out a post, and if you haven't seen it,
it's on her Instagram. And it's an idyllic Instagram post
of their new life, just some snippets, a couple of videos,

(00:45):
a couple of pictures of their new life in the
United Kingdom. Why would that upset anybody? We're talking people
throwing crazy amounts of shade on her from the fact
that her kids don't have life jackets on the canoe
with Harry while they're fishing.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
I didn't know you were going there.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
To the fact that they say this is fake, that
there are old pictures because mom and dad, Harry and
Meghan are in winter coats and the kids are in
summer outfits.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
So some of this must be manufactured.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Other people point to the fact that they're screaming and
suing people about privacy and yet constantly showing her kids
on social media. And just because she shows the back
of her kid's head, she knows darn well that just
makes people more interested in what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
We could hear their voices.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
And yes, they even criticized the song she chose to
put up on the Instagram feed. She did nothing right
according to just about everybody.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Babe, there was a lot there. There was a lot there.
How bad is it?

Speaker 3 (01:47):
It's pretty bad.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Okay, so first of all, everybody knows by now they
moved back to the UK. They're not going to be
working royals, and they say they want to have a
private life fine and dandy. We know that Harry is
going to be making some public events. this week tied
to the Invictus Games. Megan, when are we seeing her
again in public?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
We don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
And after this post and all the criticism, I don't
know when we're going to be seeing her next, even
on her own social media feed.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Okay, so she's back. They're back. This is the first
time we're hearing from them. Okay, the post is simply showing...
And you describe it a little more for me in
the background song and all this, and it continues with
this theme I forget sometimes. We still haven't seen these kids' faces.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
No, and it shows her kids. It's, of course, little
Archie and Lilibet.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I think Archie's running and he tells his sister like, go, go.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
And it kind of sounds like he has a little
British accent. It's very cute.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
And then Lilibet's got her little red hair and a
bun and she's chasing behind him in her bicycle. And
you see them with the wildlife of the English countryside.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
There are deer running. They are fishing.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Sounds amazing.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
They've got some.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
They're fishing at some point?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
They're on a boat with Harry fishing without life jackets.
And they're around a little campfire.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It looks like, wow, I want to be there. Again,
it's idyllic. That's the best way for me to describe it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Can I ask if you, before reading all the criticism
and whatnot, did you have a reaction to it?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I personally just liked seeing them happy. Maybe I'm the...
I'm definitely in the minority, and I think you are
there too.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Look, I'm not there to try and nitpick her. I
do understand some of the criticism, however, about the fact
that you can't say on one hand that you don't
want people in your private life and then share your
private life with.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
People and get upset about it.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I also agree with a lot of the criticism. I
have some really interesting comments I'm going to read for you,
and I'll get your reaction.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But I do think it's hard to.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
claim or maintain that you're still keeping privacy for your
kids and interest low on your children for the mere
fact that you're not showing their faces.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Actually, the opposite is true.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Now people are more interested and more curious about what
they look like, but you're giving people just enough to
wet their appetites to want more.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
So it's hard to say, don't look at us. Don't
take pictures of us on one hand.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And then on the other hand, almost cleverly manufacture or
curate Instagram posts where people are wanting more.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Okay, I have two questions on this about the kids.
Is it possible, first of all, that even though it
might not feel to us like the right move, that
she is not being manipulative and just being sincere in
not wanting to show her kids? Is that possible?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I think she could be sincere in not wanting to
show her kids, but in terms of what her motivation is, obviously...
She is trying to. I would think it's hard to
believe she's not trying to repair their image and show
this family who's happy to be back in the UK,
who's enjoying their time there, who are a happy, thriving family.

(04:57):
She wants that to be out there versus all of
the noise surrounding her. what's going on possibly between them
and the King, them and William and Kate. And so
she's trying to put a positive spin on what's had
a lot of negative publicity.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Okay. So, but still it's a sincere, I just, and
not showing the kids faces and the way she's gone
about this. It, It might have been the wrong decision,
but it wasn't one that was meant. Or you think
there was a plan in place, if you will. Like
the Eva Mendez thing, right? They don't show their kids.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, but I don't think she's putting the backs of
their heads and their little outfits and their little butt,
everything but their faces. I think that's part of the criticism,
that if you're not going to do it, don't do
it at all.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You can't have it both ways. I think she's trying
to have it both ways.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
My second question about the kids was, Even though they're
not working royals, their parents, are these kids still legitimately
in line for the throne?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
I mean, they're way below.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
But still.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
But yes, they are legitimately in line.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Now this feels really wrong. The world hasn't seen the
faces of two heirs to the throne.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
But she teases us.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
But we haven't seen. That's a.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Right.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
I know.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
It feels like that is a... I don't know. Okay, fine.
I just.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Let's get into, so, and.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I did want to say, though, I think it's ridiculous
about the conspiracy theories about the winter coats and the
summer clothes. British weather, just like American weather, can change
from day to day. No one said this all took
place on the same day. Obviously, they've been there since
late August. So they might have had changing temperatures and
some of the videos might have been taken on a
warmer day and some of the videos.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Might have been taken on a colder day.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
So I think that's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
That she's using old footage of her and Harry from
before and then juxtaposing it with new images of the kids.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Like who cares?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
The other one, people, if you, if you zoom in
on the boat where the kids don't have a life jacket, I.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Did find this interesting. People are commenting that Harry has
a full head of hair. which he clearly doesn't.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
And the way it's shot, it's the back of his
head where he does have a pretty thinning top of
his crown. It looks like he has a full head
of hair. So they're saying it was AI'd or it
was enhanced. And so people are like, give me a break.
Why is she giving him all this hair when clearly
we all know he doesn't have it? So look, any

(07:21):
time she's going to put out anything, she should know
that it's going to be heavily scrutinized.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
So she can do no right.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
She can do no right, and this is the problem.
And so she's.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Turned off the comments on her Instagram, which I think
is probably very healthy from a mental health standpoint, but
it has not stopped people from commenting everywhere else. And
you know the place that people feel the freest to
say whatever the hell they want is on X.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yes. And on some of these are some verified accounts,
Royal Watchers, et cetera.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
And a couple of people, I think, have made some
decent points.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
I'm listening.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
Are you looking at the hair?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
As soon as you said it, you knew I was
about to look at it.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I knew you were going to look. Do you see
how he looks like he has a full head.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Of hair on the boat? Okay, just keep going. I'll
let you know when I get to it.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Okay, so here are some of the comments that I
thought stood out. This is the baffling part. Harry and
Meghan have spoken out repeatedly and loudly about the dangers
of children on social media. Yet Megan insists on exploiting
her kids on social media incessantly. I don't give a
shit that she posts the backs of their heads. That
does nothing to lessen interest, and she knows it. Why

(08:28):
is she manufacturing such major interest.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
And curiosity into.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Her children, she claims, are so vulnerable to the evils
of social media. For two people so paranoid about security,
why post photos with such identifiable landmarks that it takes
people 2.5 seconds to.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Figure out where you are? It goes on and on
and on, and this is how it ends. It's almost like.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
The private citizens want the frenzy and attention. That's the problem,
and that's what people are pointing to. That's a very typical,
this was a well-written reaction to it, but that is
the gist of what most people are saying.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
That's a good one to start with, babe. They make
a very good point. You are generating the interest in
your kids that you say you want to protect. Now,
is there an argument to be made? She's a mom.
She's proud of her kids, proud of her family, wants
to share it as much as she can, and these
are the limits she put on herself.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
And I think if they put the pictures of the
kids out there, then that might go away.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Because look, it just.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Encourages paparazzi, you and I know this, to try and
get a photo all the more. If you're deliberately hiding them,
but you're giving a sneak peeks of them, it's almost
like you're dangling a carrot in front of folks. And that's,
I think, where people are finding it to be so disingenuous.
Either show the kids and let us see your family
and bring us along with you and accept what comes

(09:50):
with it. But don't say you want one thing.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
And then And then tease another. It just, it doesn't
read as genuine.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Has she ever addressed this, like a directly been asked
this question?

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I don't know the answer to that.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Why do you do this?

Speaker 3 (10:05):
I don't know the answer to that.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
But this is, someone else wrote this, as ever, and
I like how they used when they, this was a
deliberate jab at her company.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Her home company is called As Ever.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
So, as ever, the greatest threats to the privacy and
security of Harry, Meghan, and their children are, is Meghan
Markle and her desperate need to prove she's not hating
every second of being back in the UK by posting
on Instagram. Bottom line, people are calling it performative. They're
calling it curated. They're calling it manipulative. And some people

(10:37):
are calling it hypocritical. And others are saying that it's AI'd.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
It's AI'd?

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Meaning that like, Some of the videos aren't current. Harry's hair.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
It's just, and then, oh, people are making fun of
her because she shows at one point she's in wellies
splashing in the mud.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
What is she, 10? I mean, it's like no matter
what she posted. Oh, those are her feet? Yeah, because
in one of the.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Shots, she's in those wellies and those hunter boots that
you see so many British people wear.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
They call them wellies.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
You can't see his hair. It's from a distance.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
You can't?

Speaker 1 (11:08):
You can't make out that it's, no, it's not.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Do you see, like, it looks like it's thinning or bald?

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Where are they?

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Some people are claiming, some people are claiming that it's, um,
family members of Diana. So his mom's uncle's estate, um,
people have tried to, they'd say the landmarks that those
who live in.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
The area know where they are. And now they just
told everybody where they're staying.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
This poor girl can do no right. She can do
no right. Now there are some legit criticism in there. Um,
Did we, I was thinking back, I remember some picture
they had after she had given birth and she was
holding the baby, but the baby's face still wasn't shown then?

Speaker 2 (11:47):
No, we have never seen those children's faces. And so, yes, by.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Dangling this carrot, it'll be curious.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Look, I know that if she's not looking online, her
people are looking online, and they're very aware that they
have a PR problem.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
And I think that was her attempt or one of
their attempts to to.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Try and soften things and to bring people back around
that they're this wonderful family enjoying their time in uk
and everyone's happy and everyone's good and i think that's
the problem it just people aren't buying.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
It okay i mean what would you advise her right
now she walks in to this studio To.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Delete her social media accounts right now.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Really?

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Or maybe just not do that. That would obviously create
a whole nother round of headlines. But maybe just truly
lay low for a little while. Let organically... happen what's
going to happen, and maybe not necessarily be in the
mindset of documenting it and promoting it. I think right now,
that's not ever going to land well with a lot

(12:49):
of people, period. Now, when we come back, we're gonna
tell you what also happened to the Sussexes, and I
say happened to them, Because SNL UK, their premiere season
two opening and the opening sketch was all about Meghan
and Harry and the headlines read, one of the most

(13:11):
brutal comedic attacks on anyone was seen over the weekend.
Welcome back, everyone, to Amy and TJ. Harry and Meghan,
a little bit of a rough weekend, first with Meghan

(13:32):
Markle's post that people have been eviscerating, but then on
Saturday night, SNL UK had their opening season two premiere.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
I didn't even know SNL had... gone over, the franchise
had expanded to the United Kingdom. Yeah, it was a
big deal.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
It was a really big deal.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Well, now everybody knows.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yes. Now everybody knows because season two's opening sketch was
a doozy. And it opened with King Charles and Camilla
by the fireplace at Balmoral Castle. And they're there enjoying,
and they took a few little jabs at the king
and Queen Camilla.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
But then Harry and Meghan walk in. And Harry says, Daddy,
I'm home.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
And the king says, don't tell me you spent all
your Netflix money already.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Daddy, it was 60 million. How long was it meant
to last? So yes, okay, this is all funny. Ha
ha ha.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah, elitist. We can all get on board with that.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
No problem. Then they mocked Meghan's show because she brings
in a tray of ice as a gift to Queen
Camilla and says, I made it myself.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
I can give you the recipe.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
It's ice. Okay. Again, that's funny.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
That's all in line.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Fair game.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
That's in good taste.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I'm laughing.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
It's all good.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
All good.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Um, then they mocked the King's letter, acknowledging that where
he told everybody, just a reminder, um, Harry and Megan
are private citizens. You cannot refer to them as his
or her Royal Highness. So they have Harry saying to
King Charles, daddy, just because I don't want to be
a Royal doesn't mean I want to be a regular guy.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Everybody's laughing. But then this one was the doozy. This
was the worst one. Honestly, babe, it's so bad.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
I checked, several outlets didn't even report on this joke.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
People Magazine completely stayed away from it. I thought that
was interesting.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Why?

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Because it was so ouchy. It was so brutal.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
And it's bringing up a longstanding, baseless, debunked rumor about
King Charles not actually being Harry's biological father. There were
all these rumors about Princess Diana and that polo player.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
James Hewitt. Go online.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
People have side-to-side comparisons. It's been like this for years.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
And this has dogged the royal family for decades.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
And they have dismissed it. It's been debunked. People say
it is not true. But this is what happened. What
a waste you've become. You're lucky your dad isn't around
to see this. That's from Prince, sorry, that's from King
Charles to Prince Harry. And people clapped in the audience.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
They called the crowd. That was the biggest joke of
the whole scale.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Everybody roared. You actually didn't know what they.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Were talking about. I came to you and I showed
you the thing. And I said, what are they talking about?
Why did everybody go crazy? And you started Googling stuff
and showing me all this. I had never heard that before, ever.
So that's a hell of a joke to drop in
the U.K.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
And it landed.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
But I mean, I can feel it like that is
that's a low blow.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
I had no idea about it.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
But now you do.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
You think some people aren't like intentionally staying away from
reporting that?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
I think they don't want to piss off the royal family, babe.
News outlets do not want to upset the crown. And
if they even repeat this joke that came out of SNL,
they are perpetuating it. They're lending some credibility to it.
They get people like you to Google it who didn't
know about it otherwise. They don't want to get their

(17:03):
hands dirty because they still want access to the monarch.
They want to get those interviews with William and Kate.
They want to get those interviews with Charles and Camilla.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
That they do all the time, sure.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
They don't get them often.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
But when they do get them, when someone gets them,
it's a big, big deal. And if you do something
to piss off the royal family and Buckingham Palace, you
can be literally iced out.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Ask Harry and Meghan.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Man, no, I had no idea. And the whole skit
was hilarious that they brought in the new prime minister.
Whoever that actor is, I like him. But it was funny.
Check it out if you get a chance.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Everyone should just watch it because it is absolutely hilarious. But, man,
it's just been a tough couple years for Harry and Meghan.
And a lot of people will say self-induced. It was
brought on by their choices. But it's got to be
a tough, tough Monday for them.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
I mean, I don't know. They're used to it, and
I guess they should expect it to a certain degree, babe.
I don't know. I think most of it is unfair.
As I've learned more and more, we've been talking about this,
from stuff I'm remembering from the past. Yeah, some of
it might be deserved and understandable that some criticism came
their way, and even from their own family. Rose, I

(18:15):
didn't realize, he has just eviscerated them in public. So,
most of it's unfair. I don't know how they can
mend things. Like, what could she possibly do, babe, short
of saving children from a burning building? That folks would
still come out and say, she probably lit that fire herself.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
You are so right.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
And look, we are seeing a very public Harry now
starting this week. So for the first time since he
moved back to the UK, he is going to be
in the spotlight by choice. On Thursday of this week,
he's attending the first Invictus Spirit Awards. He's going to
be a part of a launch of a new educational
initiative connected to the games called Inspire. Then on Monday

(18:56):
in London, next Monday, he's attending the Well Child Awards
in London. He's going to meet children and families and
caregivers and medical professionals. And then the week after that,
he's coming right here to New York City. He's going
to be attending the Clinton Global Initiative on, it's the
UN week next.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Week, by the way.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
We should watch out with traffic there. But he's going
to be a participant there. in whatever's going on there.
We don't know exactly what his role will be, but
that's all according to the organization.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
So he is going to be out in public, front
and center.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Maybe Megan was putting this out there thinking it would
help soften his thrust back into the spotlight, but it
did quite the opposite.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
It appears. What can she do, though? What do you
want her to do? Just go away? Just be quiet?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Maybe.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Maybe. she started acting right she'd be busy focused on
that and career focused instead of this public person focused
right she didn't have to put that post.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Out I'm sure I wonder if she regrets it now.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
It's still up I looked I saw it on her
on her Instagram it's still there as of this recording
and look yes both of her kids are in school
now Harry's got a busy next couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
What is Megan doing I guess she won't be posting,
or maybe she'll post all the more.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
But I don't know what her friend group might be there,
and I don't know. Unclear, but here's the deal.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
They're not going away.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
They're not going away anytime soon, and look, I do
think maybe people could just maybe back off on the
