Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
An iHeartRadio podcast. Hey there, everybody, and welcome to Morning Run.
It is Tuesday, September 15th. I'm Amy Robach.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
And I'm TJ Holmes, wherever you may be this morning.
Hope you are getting a good day started on this Tuesday.
We got a lot of stops to make today. We're
going to make a stop at the Kennedy Center once
again on this morning's run. Also in Mississippi, Barbados. We'll
make a stop on Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour. We'll make
a stop in Hollywood, mailboxes across the country, the halls
of Congress, the UK, as well as in Stockbridge, Georgia.

(00:35):
But where do we start, Robes? A bunch of headlines still.
AI seems to be all the talk, all the rage,
and it seems like everybody is in agreement, Robes, about
what we should do. Things need to slow down.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Almost everyone is in agreement, and there's a big asterisk
to that almost. Yes, we've seen those dramatic headlines. AI
is going to have the ability to end humanity. AI
industry leaders sounding the alarm, pleading for regulation. When do
we ever have industry leaders asking to be regulated? And yes,
lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are coming together

(01:12):
for this.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, President Trump now has chimed in. Nothing to see here.
I mean, this has been remarkable, Robes, all for the
past week. Everybody's in agreement. Need to slow down. Need
to do something about this. These are real warnings. And
we've been listening, right? You got strange bedfellows.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Up in- Ted Cruz.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And like Bernie Sanders are- They're in agreement.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
They're holding hands on this.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
President chimed in. Nope. Everybody, this is all good. A
hoax is what the president said. Just to give you
an idea, he had a series of true social posts.
I'll give you an example one here. Quote, the only
guardrails that AI needs is a strong and smart, high
IQ president. And the USA has that in spades. The

(01:55):
Trump administration has stopped AI people from doing bad or
potentially bad things like Dario. the head of Anthropic, who
is now pretending to be a perfect little angel. And
we will continue to do so. We already have tremendous
criminal and regulatory power over these companies. There is a
sick conspiracy going on against AI and data centers. And

(02:17):
the only one that is happy about it is China.
Whoever wins AI wins. Robes, now what? You got the
leader of the free world pushing back against an entire industry.
And once again, Robes, he says, don't believe anything somebody's saying.
This is an entire conspiracy and hoax that every AI
leader is coming out and saying, this is dangerous.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
He's calling every AI leader conspiracy theorists, treasonous traitors and leakers.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
There you go. Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Wow. Okay, so a lot more to come on that.
But in the meantime, next up on the run, the
Supreme Court dealt a final blow to the president's efforts
to put restrictions on the mail-in ballots for this year's midterms.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, this has been going back and forth for the
past couple of weeks. Finally, this should be it. The
court kept a lower court ruling in place which said
the president's plan to have the post office restrict mail-in
ballots was likely unlawful. So this is kind of it.
Certainly can't get it in place before the midterms now.
So this is... we think, done.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
The timing of it all is the reason why it's done.
The fight would have continued on had there been more time, right?
Next up on the run, guess who was back at
work yesterday on Capitol Hill for the first time in
three months? Yes, we're talking about Senator Mitch McConnell, who
made his way into the Senate chamber using a wheelchair.
He cast a vote. It was his first since June 11th.

(03:41):
He's been hospitalized since June after emergency personnel were called
to his home for a report of an unconscious person.
All sorts of rumors had been swirling around the status
of his health.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Because they weren't giving as much of an update.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
They weren't giving as much at all. So yes, when
you don't give us details, people fill in or assume
the worst. But it was nice to see his smiling face.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
You know what? Good to have him back. 84 years old.
He's been doing a lot of work in the Senate
for decades now. And yes, it was good to have
him back in there. Continuing on the run now, we'll
head down to Mississippi where a man arrested for the
murder of a black woman found hanging from a tree
in that state pleaded not guilty. 51-year-old Jarquez Radcliffe made
his first court appearance on this murder charge. And police

(04:27):
say he had what they call an association with 29-year-old
Tasia Fortune, the mother of four who was found hanging
from a tree behind an abandoned building in early August.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Even though, yes, he made his first appearance, we didn't
really learn many more details than we were certainly hoping to.
But the medical examiner has not announced Tayshia's official cause
of death as of yet. And Radcliffe was denied bail ultimately.
His attorney is claiming he's innocent. We also heard from
police over the weekend saying that there were other arrests involved.

(04:59):
pending so there was a lot more to come on
this one and we are awaiting anxiously awaiting those further details.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
His uh his attorney used the word innocent didn't just
say let's wait for all the details but he said
my client is innocent.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Wow all right next up on the run they are
still fighting to get president trump's name on the kennedy
center and if they don't get their way They're threatening
to close the Kennedy Center today.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yes. This is a big day, actually, Robes. Two things
going on. First, the Kennedy board, which is, of course,
full of Trump appointees, they're set to meet today. They're
considering a couple of proposals, but one of them would
be to add that inscription that gives the president credit
for leading the renovations today. of the place and robes
in some of their filings they've made in court. This

(05:47):
is the language they're using. The board understands that without
such appropriate recognition, it is unlikely that President Trump will
provide the fundamental oversight of the renovation of the main
building and lead the fiscal rescue of the center. Go
ahead and put that in layman's terms.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
So unless President Trump gets credit for restoring The Kennedy Center.
And we say credit. It means like inscripted in the
building forever.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
He's not going to provide the funds to save the building.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
That's a tough statement for the President of the United States, baby.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
That is so small. I won't help.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
That is so small. I won't save Kennedy's memorial unless
I get to etch my name on the side of it. Babe,
that's a... Wow. That's difficult. Also, the sides are supposed
to be meeting with the judge this morning to give
an update. And the judge has been kind of guiding this.
And he's kind of been calling BS on... some of
their court filings. So this is a really big day
for the future of the center.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, they're literally holding the Kennedy Center hostage. They are.
That's like, wow. All right, next up on the run,
here's another wow. The youngest mayor in the state of
Georgia has just been removed from his job. 23-year-old Jaden
Williams was also the youngest mayor in the history of
the town of Stockbridge, which is about 20 miles south

(07:03):
of Atlanta. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Ten months in office, Robes. City council has voted to
remove him. He was 22 when he was elected, right?
They have removed him. Here is the accusation. Inappropriate communications
with a teenager, Robes. They did an investigation. They hired
a law firm to look into this and show that
Williams had exchanged explicit messages, including nudes, with a high

(07:26):
school student who they described, Robes, as barely 18, meaning
that just turned 18. Okay. Williams actually defended himself at
one point during the investigation, saying it was commonplace for
people his age to exchange such messages.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Yes, he said it was nothing out of the ordinary
to exchange nudes with someone because that's what us young
folks do. He was also accused of misappropriation of city
funds because he used the mayor's card that taxpayers fund
to purchase some personal items. He said it was a
simple mistake because the cards looked alike. You know how

(08:02):
that happens, like they're the same color. And yeah, I
laughed out loud when I read that part.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
Gross. Yeah. All my cars were the same color. I
know not to use my business card to buy my car, right? But, Ro,
this is one of the things. He's messed it up
for every young quality candidate coming in the future.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I know.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
It's a bummer.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Everyone will be like, see? Can't trust those young folks.
All they do is exchange nudes, apparently. All right. Next
up on the run. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
They can't get out of the headlines. Oh, this is awful.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Their kids have been pulled from their new school just
days into the new school year. I actually feel really
sorry for Archie and Lilibet. That's so tough. You've got
to move to a whole new country, get totally readjusted.
You get to your new school, and two days in, whammo,
you have to leave. So, yeah, they have to find
a new school. I think they have found a new school,

(08:57):
according to reports. And yes, security issues are being blamed.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, a statement from the couple's representative actually says, quote,
the decision for the children to move schools was taken
following a discussion with the family's security team about the
practicalities of their current arrangements.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
It was they say that they didn't factor in all
the traffic.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Robes, factor in?

Speaker 2 (09:19):
That's crazy, right? That it takes too long. The cars
couldn't stay in a convoy. to get the kids to
the school, and so they didn't feel like they could
properly protect them because it was too long of a drive.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
The security team? Okay, I'm not criticizing the security team.
I'm just saying, Robes, you and I were just discussing
high schools with Sabine yesterday, and one of the things
we kept saying, this one's a little far. How are
we going to get you there and back and travel?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
And imagine doing that twice a day, every day, in
all kinds of weather. Yes, these are things that you
usually consider ahead of time.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
But it's just weird that this, like, oops, there's a
pick-up and drop-off issue that we didn't consider. That is odd.
They did want to make sure they made clear here
it was not the school head. anything to do with
the school. So they added some love for them. But
the couple, of course, just relocated back to the UK
after six years. In Southern California. But the headlines, they
need a break, baby. Give me a positive headline.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
But just keep an eye on our feed because we're
going to do a full deep dive into this. And also,
it's Prince Harry's birthday, if you hadn't heard.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Today was September 15th.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Happy birthday, Prince Harry, number 42.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
You know what? There you go.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
She posted about it again. We'll have more to say.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
About his birthday? Yes. Is this one being ripped as well?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
We'll get into it later.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Is there a cake on it?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Well, no, because this one actually seems like legit. It's
his birthday, so she's getting a little less shade than me.
We're all so happy in the UK.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Probably going to have exploding candles on his cake. Like,
they can't get a break, man. All right, well, stay
with us on this Tuesday morning run when we come back.
The president's favorite singer. He has now given that singer's wife...
An ambassadorship, we will explain. Also, Ed Sheeran finally had

(11:02):
to do what so many were pressuring him to do,
which is kick his opening act off the tour. Also,
Cher's favorite designer has passed away at the age of 87.
And man, when you talk about a record night at
the Emmys, we ain't ever seen anything quite like we
saw last night.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Welcome back everyone to your tuesday morning run god bless
barbados president trump has nominated lee greenwood's wife to be
the u.s ambassador to barbados it is certainly well you
got some perks when you got friends in high places
yes the wife of the god bless the usa guy

(11:45):
that's who we're talking about if confirmed kimberly greenwood would
serve as the U.S. envoy to Barbados, as well as St.
Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Antigua, Dominican, etc. Look, one
person covers the whole beautiful set of islands.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
I didn't know. I would have applied for this job.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
They're gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Babe.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
All of those, yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
She's the ambassador to paradise.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Yes, that's exactly what her card should say.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Oh, my God. But Kimberly Greenwood's background is not in paradise.
It's actually in pageants. She's a former Miss Tennessee. She
worked with Trump's organization when he was owner of the
Miss Universe pageant. She served as director of Miss Georgia,
Miss Tennessee, and a couple others.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Look, if she could do that, I'm not even kidding.
She knows how to get people in line. That does
take a significant amount of organizational skills. So, hey, maybe
she's perfect for the job.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Robes, we send in this Lee Greenwood's wife. to Barbados.
That's hilarious. So she can connect with the locals.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
It's amazing. Okay.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Okay. Just, okay.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
St.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Lucia, spend some time there.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Sit there for a minute with that.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Just sit with it for a second.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
She'll fit right in.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
It'll be fine. All right.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Next up on the run, Grammy winning rapper Macklemore has
been dropped as opening act for Ed Sheeran's US tour.
Was this inevitable? I, I predicted this.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
I thought you called it very, very early.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I predicted this because, look, when you think about who
runs the music industry, there is a lot of power
when you're sitting at the top. And if you've offended
the most powerful Jewish organization, nonprofit Jewish organization here in
the United States, yes, you're going to have some powerful
people pushing back. So Macklemore made pro-Palestinian comments during two

(13:30):
shows at MetLife Stadium earlier this month. So upset we
missed it. We literally missed it by like 30 minutes.
We were at the Ed Sheeran concert. We just missed Macklemore.
And that all sparked calls for him to be dropped,
including from a leading American-Israeli advocacy group that I was
just mentioning.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Now, Macklemore did respond after being booted. He had a
lengthy Instagram post saying it was actually New England Patriots
owner Robert Kraft. who played a major hand in getting
him booted. He claims Kraft called Ed Sheeran, told him
that Gillette Stadium, yes, where the Patriots play, would not
host Sheeran's tour stop if McLemore was the opening act
and that other stadiums were prepared to follow suit. Looks

(14:10):
like Ed Sheeran didn't have any choice in this thing,
but McLemore, we'll talk about this more. He had a long,
he had a lengthy Instagram post. Rob, curious what people
think about it.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
All right, yes, look for that on the feed coming up.
But next up on the run, legendary fashion designer Bob
Mackie has passed away. He was known as the designer
to the stars. Carol Burnett hired him to do wardrobe
on The Carol Burnett Show, which led him to meeting Cher,
who then also hired him for her show, Sunny and Cher,
two of the biggest television shows on the planet at

(14:40):
the time.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
But the story was he actually, Cher, was a guest
on The Carol Burnett Show. took a liking to him,
and when she got her show, she brought it home.
That's cool.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Cher is an amazing actress, by the way. She really is.
She's hilarious. She's funny.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
She's funny.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
She is great. Moonstone, what's the one that I love? Moonstruck.
I love that movie. I could go back and watch that.
She's incredible in it.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
What's that one line, that pop culture line, she yells,
get out, get over, it's something she yells in some scene.
I'll figure it out. But then again, worked with her
for a long time, put actually Cher in front of
some of her most iconic and wildest looks, but He
worked with Madonna, Sharon Stone, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, you
name it. His representative said he actually died of pneumonia.
He was 87 years old. I wasn't as familiar with him,

(15:23):
but as soon as I said his name to you,
you said, oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Oh, Bob Mackie. I actually got to wear a dress
of his one time many, many, many years ago. It
was borrowed, and I felt like a princess. Yes, he
knew what he was doing. All right, and for the
final leg of our run, all kinds of incredible history
last night at the Emmys. Widow's Bay, which I have
been dying to watch, won 14 awards last night, setting

(15:48):
a new single season record for a comedy. And it's
a quirky comedy. It's a really fun concept.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Is it really a horror comedy?

Speaker 2 (15:56):
It does have horror elements. That's why my daughter was
telling us we needed to watch it, because she knows
we only watch things that have horror elements. adjacent, at least.
We have to have some sort of horror nod to it,
but it's about a New England mayor who tries to
boost tourism on his island, but he's navigating strange events
suggesting the island is cursed.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
So it's really fun. It's funny. It's like a horror comedy, basically.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
And it's led by Matthew Rhys. Love him. This guy,
he did gangbusters last night as well. We said there
was history. But Matthew Rhys won For Best Actor for
Best Comedy Series. He also won for Best Actor in
a limited series for The Beast in Me. And now

(16:41):
he's the first actor, Robes, to win two leading actor
categories in the same damn night.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
You know, he's Keri Russell's husband. I love them together.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Weren't they in a show together or something? Yes, The Americans. Okay, see,
I love Keri Russell, but I never got into that show.
You were addicted to it.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
They fell in love on that show. It was quite controversial.
But they are together and happy and have a kid together,
and congratulations to him.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
And yeah, I said he had the two leading actor categories.
He also won a third one as executive producer of
the damn show. So he had a good night.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
That, good for him. That makes me happy.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
But the night of all nights, Jean Smart. We haven't
seen Hacks either, but everybody loves this actress. We all
love her. She's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
She's amazing.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
She's kind of amazing. But she won for Hacks last night.
It was the fifth time she's won for Hacks. And
get this, the show is now over. It's done with
this run. Every season it was on, she won best actress.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Actor that's amazing it makes me want to watch every
season baby we should watch if we want to laugh.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
That that's that was a hell of a feat robes
she no one has ever done that in history she
won best actor for every single season a show was
on you know.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
And i've never met her before but she just seems
so likable like i would love to actually just sit
down with.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Her what was uh the lady the one from our
schitt's creek Oh, yes. Well, okay.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
Oh, my goodness. Moira Rose.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Y'all, you know the character's name.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I know her character's name because now you're putting me
on the spot and I'm freaking out right now.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
I can't believe. I'm only bringing her up. Catherine O'Hara.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Everyone at home is screaming her name.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Catherine O'Hara! But those are two ladies for whatever reason.
I would sit and have scotch with those two. They
just seem to have that same energy.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Add Diane Keaton to the mix and I'm coming.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Yeah, I like those two. Hell of a night at
the Emmy's last night.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Alright and on this Tuesday we leave you with this
quote of the day because my favorite season is upon
us fall is proof that change can be beautiful too.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Fall is proof that change can be beautiful too okay.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I love that fall is my favorite season and that
just made me love it even more I think that's
such a cool I do think we can learn so
much from nature about our own personal lives ah fall
is proof that change can be beautiful too so enjoy
the day everybody And thank you for running with us.
I'm Amy Robach.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
And I'm TJ Holmes. We'll be running soon.
