Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey, friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to kids'
animal stories. Do you know what makes these animal adventures
way more awesome? Yeah, sharing with a friend. So you,
as a critter protector, you should find a whole bunch
of other critter protectors and you can protect all the
critters together. So think of two friends and have your
parents text them this episode and you guys can listen

(00:26):
to this mystery together.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Are you guys ready.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
To solve this mystery of Ooh? These birds are George
and Martha.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Let go.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
If you remember last time on the last episode, George
and Martha are two birds that have been building this
amazingly ginormous nest. George was off catching a giant fish
when another bird came and crashed into him and tried
to steal his fish. Martha is back at the nest

(01:02):
all alone, and the eggs have hatched. Our story continues
a few days later. The three eggs that hatched had Washington, Lincoln,
and Jefferson, and they were all rolling around and wrestling
inside of the nest. Remember, the nest was very large,
and so it gave them lots of rooms to run around.

(01:25):
Martha was still keeping an eye out of the nest.
She knew that there must have been something wrong. I
was waiting to see if she could see George anywhere. Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom,
shouted Lincoln.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Oh, I'm sorry, what is it.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
We were just wondering, why do you have a white
head and we don't. We don't have white heads. They're
just rown or something. Why when are we gonna get
a white head?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Well? Uh, white heads?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Actually, you're the feathers on your head will turn white
when you're about five years old.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Five years old, winced Jefferson.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
That's gonna take forevery again into five years old. Uh oh, oh,
don't be dramatic, Jefferson, said their mom. Now is the
time to have fun. You're only gonna be young once
and uh, don't worry. Those white feathers will come when
they're ready. But for now, I need you to help

(02:33):
me keep an eye out for your dad because he
still hasn't come back. Yeah, we haven't even met him,
said Washington. Where is he again? Oh I'm not sure,
said their mom. He went out to go fishing and
he never came back, so he maybe he got hurt

(02:53):
or something, and so we just have to see if
we can see him hopping around on the ground anywhere
or can tell if he needs help. Holy smokes, said Jefferson.
Look are those those chicks are flying? When can we fly?

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Mom? Can we fly? Can we fly? Blazes blades blace
Blaeslee asked Jefferson.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Well, we have to wait for your wings to get
a little bit bigger and stronger, and then we can
start practicing, said their mom. Over the next several days
and weeks, the chicks started comparing to see which one
had the biggest wings. They would spread their wings out
very big, and they would mark how long their wings

(03:38):
were on the side of the nest. Have you ever
like marked on a wall how tall you are? Yeah,
that can be a fun thing to do with your parents' permission.
Of course, we don't need to be marking up the walls,
uh without asking first, That is really important. But to
measure yourself on the wall and to put a little
mark up there, it's kind of fun to watch you grow.
And that is what the chicks were doing. But what

(03:59):
they're wings. Another thing that you have to know is
that at nighttime. Over the last several weeks, Jefferson has
been having many dreams of the day that their dad
was gonna fly back home, and it was something that
he really wanted to happen, but it was always only

(04:20):
just a dream. Well, one day, their mom, Martha, started
noticing that the chicks were getting to be about the
right size to start flying. All right, kids, we are
gonna play some flying games, cause I think you are
ready to start to learn how to fly. Woooooo. The

(04:41):
three chicks all cheered and clapped their wings together.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
They were very excited. All right, we're.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Gonna hop down the branches and uh, we're gonna start
some drops. All right, hold on a second, we need
to pause the story and figure out this mystery. Have
you figured out what kind of critter that George and
Martha and Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson are? Oh, there's so
many clues that think about. Well, we know that they're

(05:09):
a bird with a big wings and big claws, and
they like to eat fish. So have you had any ideas?
My first guess is a pelican, because pelicans really like
to eat fish. Right, let's see, they eat fish. Yes,
they have wings, yes, big claws. Oh, they don't have talents.

(05:32):
Pelicans don't have talents, so it's not a pelican. Next,
guess what's another bird that really likes.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
To eat fish?

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Uh? Flamingos? No, not a flamingo. Wait a second, I
see another clue here that I forgot to say. Oh,
they have white feathers on their head when they get bigger.
Do you remember that? Can you think of a big.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Bird that has a white head? Wait a second, what
did you say? Did you see a bald eagle?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Let's check. Bald eagles lay eggs. Yes, they have big talons. Yes,
they fly and a big wings and build big nests. Yes, George,
Martha and their whole family are a family of bald eagles.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Great job.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Whooh that was a tough mystery, at least for me,
maybe not for you. As they all climbed up on
the edge to the nest, Jefferson wasn't ready.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
He said, Mom, I don't want to leave.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
What if dad comes home and then we miss him
coming home. I don't know if I'm ready to start flying.
I'll just stay here in the nest. Honey. It's gonna
be okay. I'm sure your dad will be home sometime,
and but we have to start to learn how to fly,
said their mom. And it was just at that moment,
that Lincoln saw something in the distance.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Wait a second, look over there, there's a that's a
big bird. It has a white head. It's flying right
towards us.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Martha turned her eyes and she couldn't believe it. It
was George. George, we're over here, shouted Martha. As George
was flying over, they could tell that he was a
little hurt. He wasn't flying very well, but he landed
and kind of crashed into the nest. Oh, oh, so

(07:24):
good to be home. I'm so sorry it took so long.
Where have you been, said Martha. Well, ugh, it's quite
a story. I went out to catch a fish and
there's this one other eagle that stole the fish from me,
and we tumbled all the way to the ocean.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
We crashed in the water.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
I don't know what happened to him, but I got
pulled up onto a big ship and all these people
they helped me, and over the past several weeks they
helped me get back to normal strength so I could fly.
And and here I am. You mean you lived on
a ship. Who were those pirates, asked one of the kids.

(08:09):
I don't know if they were pirates. They were very
nice to me. They fed me fish and helped fix
my broken wing. Look, George held out his wing and
there was something tied onto his wing to give it
some extra strength. Looked kind of like a cast but
for a bird wing.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
And who do we have here? You three look so big?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
The three baby eagles all jumped into his wings together.
This was one very happy eagle family. And the rest
of the day George and Martha spent teaching the kids
how to fly. Sometimes they would fall and bump into
branches or something, but they always learned to never give up,

(08:57):
especially after everything their dad George, when through he never
gave up, even when he was hurt. And that's a
really important lesson. Whenever we're doing something, we're learning something,
even if we don't get it right the first time,
you never give up, write Critter Protectors. Yes, well, friends,

(09:17):
that may be the end of this story, but you
know that's just the beginning of George, Martha, Washington, Lincoln
and Jefferson's Great Bald Eagle Adventure.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
The end.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Great job, you listened all the way to the end.
And who got that one right? I did not get
it right on my first try, but that white head
on the bald eagle. That was a pretty good clue
to figure out what kind of critter it was. Yeah,
did you know that even though we call it a

(09:57):
bald eagle, it doesn't mean that its head is. It
just has white feathers and it kind of looks like
it's bald. And did you know that their wingspan can
be eight feet long?

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Holy smokes, there's a lumpier than me.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Well, friends, I hope you have a super duper day
and I will see you on our next adventure.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Bye.
