Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, everybody. It's me, Matt, and my tour is on
sale now. This time, it's really Christmas. You can go
to www.mattrogersofficial.com. Podcasts are a visual medium. If you're not
watching me right now, I am holding in my hands
my vinyl. It's called Have You Heard of Christmas? The
answer to that question is coming. At this time, it's
really Christmas. I'm playing all over the country and in
(00:23):
London and in Canada. That makes it a world tour.
Harry Styles, you're on burn notice. I'll see you soon. Look, Matt. Where? Oh,
I see. Wow. Bowen, look over there.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Is that culture? Yes.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Oh, my goodness. Wow.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Las Culturistas. Ding dong. Las Culturistas calling.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Couple housekeeping notes.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
One.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Lost Culture's gonna be twice a week from this week
to the end of the year. Get into it. Double stuffed.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Double stuffed. We're doing culture catch-ups once a week.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Mm-hmm, just me and the girl.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
We're doing guests once a week. Mm-hmm. But just for
the end of the year, we're just trying this out
and also we owe iHeart.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
See, the thing about this is a contractual obligation, but
it's also fun.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:14):
And when those two things can both be true, you're
really cooking. You're cooking. You're winning.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Some contracts, not so fun. Take it from me.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Not so fun. We have two ex-NBC legends in the
house ready to spill all the tea. The second thing
I want to say is Bowen Yang has completed his
first week as Mary in O'Meara.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yes! Yay!
Speaker 1 (01:34):
And I have seen it twice now.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
You're crazy for that. I know.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
And the thing is, I am also richer in life
and experience for that because you are so good in it.
And I just, it's obviously no surprise. Was there a doubt?
Was there a doubt? There was no doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
There might have been a doubt.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Shut up. Maybe within you, not anybody else. Because the
thing about Bowen is he's so amazing in the room.
And like now people have a chance to go see
you in the room. And that's so exciting. And that
is the way I say room, by the way.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Room.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
That's not a Long Island. That feels like a.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Was it more room than rum? Because usually sometimes I'll
say in my room.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Roomba.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Roomba. How do Texans say roof? Roof?
Speaker 1 (02:14):
It's on the roof.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Oh, see, it's so interesting.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
What do you say?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Roof. The roof is on fire.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
The roof is on fire.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
So now the third thing we're going to do is
we're going to address the guest that's here. So if
you're sitting at home being like, why the fuck aren't
they talking to Kelly Clarkson? That's what happens right now.
So if you know, you know. This guest is great
lore in the podcast.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
She's the winningest judge on The Voice, which she is
returning to. Yes, yes. Clap, clap. It begins tonight as
of this recording.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Mysteriously performing at Stagecoach and sort of on the precipice
of what seems to be a new era. Don't worry, everyone.
I'm on the case. You have the right person asking
the questions today. Our guest is a Grammy-winning, Emmy-winning, total...
Just joy to be around and we're so happy that
she's here again.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Please welcome Kelly Clarkson.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
And show the mug.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
And I'm celebrating with the Mariah mug.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Because we were talking about my all and all the
stuff last episode.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
All Mariah. And you never did cover it on the show,
my all.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
You know, okay.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I'm gonna be the only person to have qualms about
your calliokes.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
No, and I'm not calling anyone out. It's very hard
to get her songs cleared.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
So there were overtures made. There have been many overtures
made of many songs.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
And people will be like, why doesn't she cover them?
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I'm like, I'm a huge fan.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
But, like, not all songs can you get cleared.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
100%.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Because people would be like, why don't you cover this artist?
Why don't you cover this artist? I'm like, I can't
get everybody to clear all their stuff, you know?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Right. Which is another peak behind the curtain of this business.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Which is fine.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Right.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
But do the Kelly Okies stay on for one year?
Is that what the typical... Forever.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Really? I'm just kidding.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Oh, that's huge.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
I don't mean it.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I guess it's like on.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
What do you mean? Like, online?
Speaker 3 (04:06):
So I'm just... I'm only coming at this from the
total left angle, which is on SNL, if you had
any music, it could live online for just one year
only from air. And then after that, it was wiped
across the board. Oh, I don't know if.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I read the fine print.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Me neither.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
You do the singing.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
I'm like, this one's fine to sign.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I don't know if I know that, but I know
that it.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, they even, we even did a deal too where
it's on like my radio channel too.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Like we have some of them on air on there.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
I don't know if it's only allowed to live a
certain place, but I mean, I feel like, look, I
tell my children, once it's on the internet, it's on
there forever.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Good thing for them to learn now.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
That's like a Gen Alpha lesson that they know we don't,
we didn't know. Oh man, aren't you just so happy?
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Like, I mean, y'all are a lot younger than me,
but I just mean, I'm, every time I run into
someone my age or older, I'm like, I could not
feel more blessed to have not been young in.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
The social media era. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's tough.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Because, you know, it's a learning curve for everyone. And
to be of a certain age learning that would have
been difficult.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
How are you with your kids and the social media?
They're not allowed. They don't have any. They're still young.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
And also, I mean, there's we I have conversations about it.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
I mean, it's not a democracy.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
It's just a no.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
But I do hear them.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
And I do.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
We do like have things that I'll we just have
pretty healthy talks about it because it's, it's also another
layer of like, they're my kid and I'm in the
public eye.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
So it's like, people are, you're not ready. No, you're
not ready for this.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I was like, you have, like you see mommy being
cheered all the time.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Like there's a whole other side of it. That's super
not great, you know? And I just don't want them to,
and people are addicted.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
People are addicted.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
I think I've mentioned this on the show before. I've
resorted to a timed lockbox that fits my phone. And
that's the only way I can sit through a movie
in my own home. Is that not insane?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I cannot relate. I am so good at not being
on my phone, except... If it's for my lover, chat GPT. Okay.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
No, no, no, because I fell into it too. I'm now,
I unfortunately had it. I don't think I use it
how everybody uses it. Okay, well, how do you use it?
That made it sound dirty. I haven't tried that yet.
It actually has limits. Sometimes it's like, I won't tell
you that. Oh, I haven't done that yet, but I'm
going to do it for fun. I was seeing how
far I could push it. No, I've never done that.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
No, I, on a designer level, I was having a
hard time because I couldn't be somewhere. I was in
Vegas doing stuff and I couldn't be somewhere and they
were saying, what would you like here?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And I was like trying to describe it. I drew.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Usually I draw like extensive plants.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Like literally I get into it. There's a key, there
it's colored, coordinated.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
It's like, but it takes me so long.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And now. Yeah. I'm like, just send me a picture
of the hill.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
And then they show me the picture and then I
put exactly what I want. It's a designer's dream.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Because you, yeah, I'm obsessed with it.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
So you're designing the hill for?
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I designed, like I got this house and it had,
it just needed.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Just some visual interest.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, it needed like paths. It needed like, you couldn't
get to the little orchard that I bought this house.
You couldn't get to parts of it. And it was like, okay,
I want. And I did it. I did a video
and everything, but it's much easier to just show someone
like this is exactly what I want.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
And you go through and you like fine tune it.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
And I, my music director, Jason showed me and I
have been obsessed since this summer.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
So is that your Montana place? I have a place
in Santa Barbara. I'm going to sound so, look, I've
worked hard. You have earned all of it.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
I've worked hard.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
No, I have a little, I've always wanted a little
cottage by the sea. It's by no means a little cottage,
but it is cute.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
It is cute.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
It's humble in the way. It is cute. It's presented.
It's cute. Chat GPT, can you make this more humble?
I always like, no.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
I look, I was like, I'm coming up on 25
years in the industry. And I was like, I always
wanted a place. And the mountains, and I thought, I'm
going to work so hard. I grew up in a shack.
I was like, what I want is I want a
ranch one day, and I want a little place by
the ocean. And I got a slightly bigger place by
the ocean than I wanted. But it's cute, and it's
not too big, and I have my ranch. So I'm like,
(08:19):
25 years later, it happens.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
You have earth and water. You have mountains.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
I am.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Almost all of Captain Planet.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Like, I'm Earth, so I got heart.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
And you've always had heart. Hey, girl, you've always had heart.
And we appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
No, I do.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
I love, yeah, I love designing, too. I just love, like,
so that's really helpful.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Have you always liked that? Yes.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Because my mother, we were so poor, I would come home. And,
you know, and it would be, you know, we lived
in either a tiny apartment or a tiny little shack
in the woods. Like it was always like some tiny place,
which is fine. You can, by the way, you can
take pride in wherever you live and it can look amazing.
And my mother would have the furniture, like if she'd
have the couch just on a different wall, she'd have
the TV. She would just move furniture to feel like
(09:01):
it was new.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
That's a way to do it.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah. She would take.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
My pictures and she'd cut me out and she'd.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
Put me in the mountains. No, she was the original chat.
She was literally.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
The original chat GPT and like, but she would make
it and I actually loved and she'd put, you know,
plants and she'd change the furniture where it looked like
nice and kind of fresh and new. And although it
was really small, we always had our, our, you know,
tiny little, lawn mowed that you could literally use a
weed eater and not a mower, but like, because it
was so small, but like, but it was, I think
(09:35):
it's like, it really taught me to take pride in
whatever you're, wherever you live, to take pride in it,
you know?
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Amazing. Well, was she a vision boarder? Are you a
vision boarder?
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Oh my God, my mom was a teacher.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
So she had all those like boards like that.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
She was very creative.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
They gotta make that shit themselves.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I really, you don't really realize that until you're older
and you have friends that are teachers. Well, my dad
was a teacher, so I kind of understood. But he
was a gym teacher, so he wasn't crafting the stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
I didn't realize until people started posting on Instagram like, oh, yep,
I'm here a week early getting all my stuff together,
like cutting out the name tags, but like, it's really,
you have to have an arts and crafts. She would
go all out. Yeah, she was really great teacher.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
She was a phenomenal teacher, but also that your dad,
Gym coach, that's like, I mean, I remember my gym coaches,
like whatever sport I was playing, those are also like therapists.
Those people, the coaches take on a lot. It's like emotional,
social interaction. It's like so much you're learning in that
as well. That's a different kind of hard.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
You did sports, right?
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Love every, all of them. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Sports ball.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Sports ball.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I love playing volleyball.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
My daughter started playing volleyball this season and I was like,
I'm going to be that mom at the game.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
The game's coming up. The first game's coming up. I'm
going to be cool. Yeah, but you know what? They
all say that. No, I'm going to be so cool.
You're going to be involved. Man, I'm going to be
so cool. I think you're too spirited.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
I am very spirited.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
I just am very excited.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yes. Ah!
Speaker 1 (10:58):
So you know what? You're going to end up being
Coach Kelly. No, I'm not that Texas parent. I'm not
like everyone deserves a ribbon. Come on. I'm not like that.
We've seen you on The Voice coming for throats. Yeah,
I'm like, here's the thing. I don't mind losing.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
And I teach my kids, you got to learn how
to lose. Because that is, even in board games, they're like,
they get so mad that I, and I'm like, I'm
not going to let you win. What kind of loser
wants to win when.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
They really didn't win?
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Like what?
Speaker 2 (11:23):
You know, I was like, come on. So they have to,
you have to learn to lose.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
I'm not okay with that. You have to. But I
want to win.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
What kind of loser shows up and is like, I'm
totally cool if I fail?
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah. It's boring. I would love third place. They live
stakes-less lives.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Who wakes up going, can't wait to have the bronze? Like,
you know, no one.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
No one.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Anticipation trophies. Yeah, but I'm not.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Pushy, actually.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
I'm just like, I do actually want them to have fun.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Because I had so much fun, even in the bus rides,
braiding each other's hair for the game, like, you know,
listening to music.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Music is really good. Like, bus culture.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
I love it. I miss bus culture.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Like, I remember that was the first time I ever heard, like,
Bohemian Rhapsody. The first time for a lot of things
in my world. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. On the back
of the bus. I was like, what's happening there? Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
What are you talking about? Oh, our bus rides?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
My bus rides? My kids will never ride a school bus. No.
Just too much going on. There was way too much
that I found out on a school bus. Yeah, you
mean found out.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Found out, saw.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
There's a lot of crazy things happening on a southern
school bus.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Texas.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Texas.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
And I was the first one to get picked up
and the last one to be dropped off. I lived
on the boonies.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
So then were you friends with the drivers? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
It was like, well, it was like, I was kind of,
Scared of him. He was, he was a very big,
like tall dude. Like he was a very, yeah, I
was like, yeah. So then I can't even remember his name,
but I can see his face.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Yeah. I had a bus driver named Deb and I
feel like that's what bus drivers are named. That's a
great name. So it's a very easy one to remember.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Deb is a bus driver.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Deb will never leave me because Deb is a bus driver.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Mine was, I think he was nice.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
He was just very quiet.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
But Deb is a bus driver name and that's a
rule of culture.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
That's a rule of culture number four.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Deb is a bus driver name. Now, my only bus
driver memory formative was I was on the JV tennis
team in high school my freshman year and we went
to Boulder from Denver to Boulder and And then one
of the kids, Alex Kessel, I think, got goaded into
mooning the cars driving next to the bus.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Moon culture was crazy. It was moon culture.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Didn't everybody moon?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
But do people moon now? I don't think people don't
moon anymore. I don't think people do anymore.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I'm going to start doing it.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
It feels very Neanderthal now, but we all did it.
We all did a bit. So now when you moon people,
you've harassed them.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Well, no.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Just give me a break. It's a but. It's funny.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
It's a but.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
It's funny.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
So then he mooned, but then the bus made a turn,
and guess what? Inertia. And then he slammed his ass
into the window, cracked it. It was one of the
best moments of.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
High school for me.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
What a powerful ass moment. Powerful ass moment.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Powerful ass moment.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Yeah. Yeah. I think out of the three of us,
I have the least powerful ass. My ass could never
dent a window.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
We have Greek heritage.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Let me tell you what, and I also, boy, living
in New York, the stairs in these places.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
You need to get your ass back quick.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
I just don't even need to go to the gym.
I just walk up and down, up and down.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
And you're good. When I was living in LA for
those five years, I was like, where'd it go? Like
my butt went away.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
That's not true. You've always had a butt.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
He can tell I am missing no meals. Come to
my fucking automobile. Let him eat it with his grill.
He kept telling me to chill. And that is cultural number.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Number zero. Number zero, actually. It doesn't even make the list.
We can't be quoting. No, we can't.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
But how are you feeling since everything ceasing?
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Great.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
I mean, you know, I think it was a really
hard thing to do because I do love the people.
But I will say it was very easy because it
was for my kids mainly.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
And so it's been pretty rad, man. I've never lived
here before.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
You will understand too, like being so hardcore with the schedule, right?
It's all in your life. Kind of, even if you're
there like, oh, but you only work these hours. I'm like, yeah,
that's when I'm refueling. And then for me, refueling was
being a mom.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Like there was no refuel. It was like working and
then there was no like off time.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
So it really did.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
We just had an amazing time to live here.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
That's what I was going to say to live in
New York and actually get to experience it.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Not in a hurry.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Like I was always in a hurry on a schedule.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
I just like take my kids to school. I walk,
I walk, I get coffee. I walk home. It's beautiful.
So great.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
You're going to be in LA for The Voice.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
I'm going back and forth.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
So that'll be seven weeks of. Is it okay? Bi-coastal fun.
Bi-coastal fun.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
But you know, it could be. No, it can be.
You know why?
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Because I have a lot of crocheting to do. I've
promised blankets to a lot of people and I crochet.
So I get on the flight and they all see
me and they're like, oh my God, you're making another blanket.
I've done it so much to where I've run into people.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Going, oh, that's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
It is a lot of like, I try and take
it as like mom time.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Like it's like my downtime. Yes. but it's gonna be
like is the voice is it actually you cause I
watch it sometimes and I'm like thinking about the production
schedule in my head and I'm like they could backlog
a lot of this well.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
It depends on the season so some seasons we have
done all in I think the last one with John
and I don't know I think we did like shoot
most of it I feel like that was the season
we did that but It depends on the season. So
this season, they're back to the six weeks of lives.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
So that's live. That's live. Yep, which I love because
you have to be done by a certain time. Everybody's like, oh,
live makes me nervous. I'm like, what? That means you
know exactly what your schedule will be. Live rocks.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Because they can't go longer.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
They can't go longer.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
We're trying to make the Culture Awards live, but it's
going to take some convincing for him.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Why? Live is a different energy. Live is a different energy,
and also I like the opportunity to get a lot
of stuff and then be able to cut it into
something that's really good.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
But why can't you do both? You can make some
stuff to fit it in, and then you can do
live around that. You know what?
Speaker 1 (17:14):
That's actually true.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
That's true, and I just think because the culture wars
are such a thing where everyone sees the red carpet
pics online, and then they wait two weeks until they
see the actual show. It's like, We can really make
it a moment if it's like live and then the
next day or something. I mean, it'll be a crazy.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
But you could always film some stuff to make it cool.
And then you have a backup, you know, if things
go wrong, cause they do, I've hosted live and then.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Stall.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Oh, great.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I mean, yeah. I mean, the earpiece thing is something
you're okay with that. I, I hate it.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Okay, of course you do.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
But you have to have it in certain circumstances. I
wouldn't let them do that. They talked to me about
it in the beginning with the talk show and I
was like, unless you want me going.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
Like open mouth processing. I am way too... That's me.
For sure. And sleeping, by the way. It's either that
or like smiling too big to try to cover it. Like,
Like you're listening?
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
It is, yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
And I can't focus.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
I'm too ADHD for that. Yeah, yeah. I can't do that.
Do you feel like suddenly there is, because I also,
I feel like now all of a sudden everyone is
talking about ADHD. I almost think our entire generation and
community is talking about it.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I think it's a lot of our environment, what we eat.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I think a lot of it's been affected with that too.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
But yes, I am.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Often, like, my nanny will be like, oh, man, your son.
And I'm like, she'll say something. I'm like, I did
that yesterday. Like, I'm like, and she's like, oh, no, no,
I know where he gets it from.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Wow. Completely aware.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
I think everyone has it.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
It's like, I don't think everyone, because my daughter doesn't, but, like,
my son and I are very, just very hyper-focused on,
you know, and then can be super aloof sometimes.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Yeah, squirrel.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
Squirrel, exactly.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Yeah, yeah. No, it's, yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
But I do think it's, I don't know. I don't know.
I don't, cause it is like a, even like with thyroid,
everybody's got like hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. It's ever been, I
feel like there's like these hot topics that everybody, it's
like now I think or whatever. And it's like, well,
It might be like environmental and what we're eating and
like a.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Lot of things. Yeah, and also the screens and everything.
I do feel like- The.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Screens, not enough sleep, our society goes, goes, goes.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
I mean, it got to a point for me where
I was just like, why do I always need to
be doing or consuming something? That's where it showed up
for me is I was like, why do I always
need to be like, I always need like a beverage
with me or just something to constantly occupy my mind.
There is no sitting- And just laying.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Well, literally, and you're going to feel very vindicated. One
of the telltale signs... and everyone's going to understand this.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
So everyone listen.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Everyone listen. Me, I've had a years-long obsession with watch
it on 1.5 speed. Watch it on two times. Listen
to it on two times speed.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Oh, like speeding up the podcast.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Speeding up the podcast or the video.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Or the video that you're watching at 1.5 or 2.0.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
Because I'm like, I'm a busy guy. I got to
eat my meal and I got to go.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
I'm actually sick. I'm so upset that no one told
me about this and I was supposed to be a freaking.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Talk show for seven years and no one could have
learned on that little secret. Do you know how much
time it takes to prep?
Speaker 1 (20:21):
You know the documentary you have to watch? Could do
it half the time. Are you shitting me? No, we're
not shitting you. We're actually the only people who have
been real with you in years. We are the only
people you can trust.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
It would have only exacerbated your ADHD. Okay. Because that's
what it does.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
She's like, but I could have saved time.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
It's just like when people watch football and it's like
there's three games going on.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
My sister does that shit. And I'm like, what is happening?
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Pick one.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
They love it. They love it. Yesterday, Tony mocked at O'Mary,
just our resident straight guy. We love him. Three games
on at the same time yesterday.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
No, that's my sister. And I was like, you have
to do that on your iPad. This TV will have
one on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
Just one.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
We can focus. What's your show of the moment? What's
your current, what are you watching and doing? Okay, so
it's NFL season. Yeah, yeah. So you're a football queen.
So it's really just football. Yeah. Yeah, as well.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Yeah. Well, I'm in two leagues, fantasy football leagues as well.
This is a big culture.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
I'm a very, I'm very, I had a very sad
week last week.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
You did?
Speaker 1 (21:26):
What happened to you? Well, my team shit the bed.
Who's your team, do you want to say?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Well, I have two different teams.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
I have players on it.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
But honestly, it was kind of, okay, look.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Did you get your Cowboys?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
I'm going to own this. Whatever, controversial or not. I
always go to the opening game where the Giants and
the Cowboys, like the Cowboys come and they play.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I'm usually at that game. The Giants and the Cowboys
when they play here.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
And I always get a sweet. That's where I'm like,
oh no, we're spending the money.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
We're doing it.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
We're here.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
I have never.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
I've done that for several years now.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
I have never heard a crowd so loud. Our quarterback
could not even, the players could not hear the calls.
They couldn't, they could, the crowd was so loud, which
is a clever strategy.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
I'm not mad at it.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Oh, okay.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
You think it was strategy.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I sure think they were doing it on purpose.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
And they couldn't hear. Like, it was the worst game
for Cowboys fans. But, I mean, kudos to the Giants
fans because that was pretty clever.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
They're playing D. It was so loud.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
I have literally been to this stadium several times and
we were all like, You could feel it in your body.
They couldn't hear.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
They couldn't hear.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Yeah, it was crazy. But that was, but it was
kind of fun. Look, I don't, I'm not mad at competitive. No, no, no, no.
And I'm not mad at fans being passionate. Also, you
have to play the terrain. You play the terrain. That's
why I always say, like, Survivor's coming back this week.
And I'm like, I don't like all the twists that
they do and stuff like that. But I'm like, you
have to play the terrain. You're a Survivor kid. Oh,
I love Survivor. My sister loves that, too.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
I think you would like it.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
You would like it. I love Naked and Afraid. Naked
and Afraid.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
I haven't seen that in forever, but I just think
it's wild at what people will choose as their one thing.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Oh, like their one, like the one. This is their
one tool or something. Oh, because they get to bring
like an item?
Speaker 2 (23:08):
I haven't seen it a ton, but I've seen it
enough to know where they get like, I think one
thing and I'm like, and that is what you chose.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
A wrench.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah, not a life straw, like to get some fresh water.
A life straw.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
I'm just like, not like fire or something sharp to
cut wood. Like I'm just, these people, I'm just like,
you would die if this camera crew wasn't here.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
You would be.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
You'd be dead.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
If you were actually naked, we'd be afraid for you.
You would not make it.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I feel like back on Survivor, I don't know if
they still do this, but you were allowed to also
bring one luxury item.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
And some girl I knew.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
They'll be waiting for you.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Back at, Yeah, you're allowed to have it at camp.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
You can have it with you.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I remember years and years and years ago, they would announce,
and this is what they brought as their luxury item,
and it said something about them. Now they don't really
do it anymore, but I knew one girl who was
gonna apply for the show, and she goes, I have
a total hack for what I would bring. And I
was like, what? She goes, a water purifier. And I
was like, huh? She goes, you just go to the ocean,
(24:10):
put the water in the water purifier, and then you
can drink it. I was like, oh, you're perfect for
reality TV. You need to go on the show.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
She thinks it's like a desalinated.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
I don't think you can do that with ocean water.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
You may not. You literally can't. No, I know. It
will not.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
But I do think she's perfect for reality television.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Who got to burst that bubble?
Speaker 3 (24:31):
That would have been amazing.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
I don't think they made it on the show. Her
name was Megan. I don't think she got on.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
That would have been great.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
But she is an all-star that they don't know they
haven't cast yet.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Oh, man.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Like, just telling the tribe, like, while everyone's setting up,
and guys, don't worry, I'm getting buckets of water from
the ocean. I brought a water purifier. Can you imagine?
I lived it in terms of having the conversation with her.
That would be a chicken of the sea moment. The
chicken of the sea. That would have been a chicken.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Of the sea moment.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
That's your Texas sister, Jessica Simpson, making her mark on
the culture. That made me so happy.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
I laughed so hard.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
That gave me so much joy. Yeah. bringing joy talk
about reality TV meant to be on reality TV.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Oh Jessica Simpson oh hilarious the traitors last night like
the my sister's obsessed with that.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
One See, don't you watch The Traitors? You should watch it.
Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I don't watch a lot, and especially since not having
this show.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Exactly. You don't have to.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
You don't have to say you watch. No, it's not
even a say.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
I would genuinely try and watch everything possible.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
And if it wasn't possible, my manager would be like,
will you watch this?
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Because I can't possibly watch five things.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Here's what happened on St. Dennis Medical. Yeah, I'm like,
you've got to. You're so funny.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
No, I did a lot. So now I'm just kind
of like, I'm reading. I didn't have time to read before,
so I'm reading.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
What are you reading?
Speaker 2 (25:48):
A Brief History of Humankind.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
I didn't know.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Okay, I watched this doc, and it was on AI,
and it was really interesting.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Scary and cool. Yeah. And this guy was on there,
and I love how he talked. And they said he
had written a book or whatever, and it turns out.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
It's like a huge book that everybody's read, and I
didn't know about it.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
But it's A Brief History of Humankind. It's interesting. I'm
not even... I have to read some.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Of it and walk away.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Yeah, that's how I am.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
In order for me to retain, because it's a lot.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
But it's so good. Yeah, it's interesting. Reading is fundamental.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Well, fundamental, but it is literally, okay.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Reading Rainbow. Oh my God, the next Kelly Oki.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Oh my God, Kelly Oki's done. By the way, I mean,
I think you're going to get sick of this, but
as your last Kelly Oki, was that intentional where you're like,
I'm going to be hearing about this for the rest
of my life?
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Ended at your peak.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Everybody was asking for it, and as soon as they
started asking, I was like, you know what? I was like,
and I love, we are huge K-pop divas in our household.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
And even when my kids... leave the room, I still
watch it. We love it.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
He's a Saja boy.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
He's one of the boys. I love it. I eat
it up. I love it.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
So I was excited to do it. And you know,
when you're singing along to something, and then you're singing it,
it's very different.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
And we, little known fact, we actually.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I knew I was going to have it be the
last karaoke because I was like, I don't think you
can kind of go, but it's like an Oscar winning,
it's like a huge song, right? And I was like,
let's just make it the last. So I knew whenever
I'd covered the other one, I covered another one from
the soundtrack too, but they were like, oh, she didn't
do Golden.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I'm like, just wait.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
But I came in and I was sick and we
had been going back and forth and I'd done it
and I.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Tried to do Golden sick. I was like, I can
do it. I can pull it out. No. No. No,
I couldn't. Just because there's so much change of the...
There's so much register change.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
My lows were incredible because I was sick, but I
was like, it just was like, that song.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
You.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Don't realize it goes so low.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
It goes so low, but in the high part, it's
not that it's too high for me. It's high in
your chest voice and certain vowels. It's like trying to
not sound like a dying cat at that decibel with
your chest voice.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
My poor children.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I sang that song in the shower for at least
a couple of weeks, like trying to find where to
place it because I was trying to place it to
where it was like, I could do it because I'm
not AI. And it's a really weird song to sing
when you're a human and just for placement. But it
was like a really fun challenge. And I loved that
it was, I mean, I never want to do it again,
(28:31):
but it was a fun challenge and I think at
this point in my career, you know, we sing so
many songs and they're not generally challenges.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
They're just fun and it's like working it out. It's
like fun.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Sure. But nothing had been like that challenging. Oh.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
And so that was a tricky one.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
That's a huge statement for you to say nothing had
been that challenging because you kind of ran the damn gamut.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
But I think most of the songs, like I think...
I'm just such a fan of music and like, you know,
people be like, oh, she covered this, you know, Whitney
one or this Celine one or this, you know, whatever.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
We, I think we even did Metallica at one point.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Like we did, we covered a random, you know, country,
but I genuinely had been listening to all those artists
and songs since I was a kid.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
So it was kind of innate in me, a lot
of those.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
So doing this one though was like, it felt like,
It honestly felt like it was like humans competing against AI.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. This song was the final test. And
I'll tell you what, bitches. I was like, you can
do this. Yeah, you don't have us yet. Because I couldn't.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
And my son is so honest.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
And he was like, he would walk by.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
I would be in my infrared sauna because it's an
place that opens you up and I was like cause
there's all the heat and I was like you know
trying to find that placement and he was like he
was like he would come by and this would be
his way of being like he'd be like wow he
was like that's a really high song.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Well that one's hard to sing huh I was like
Remington I'm trying to figure it out Your son dresses
so fly.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
He would love that you said, he wears suits to school.
Like he wears, like he loves, he's not me at all.
My daughter is me. She likes a little bit, but
she's very low key.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
He is just like, how can I look? The coolest
in the room. He looked fresh. I saw you in
Vegas last November and like he was dressed so fly.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
He loves.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Yeah, he loves to.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
And he loves to look like he wants to be
Steven Spielberg.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
He wants to be a film director.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
And that's like his dream right now and life. And
so he loves he even sees all the like older directors,
how they used to dress or whatever.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Yeah, he really gets into it.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Because he already has the thing of directors, which is like, oh,
he's just a cool guy. Because I will never forget
him saying, was it the Brooklyn Bridge? And screaming, this
is freedom.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Oh, he was like New York. Yeah. New York. Yeah,
we were coming in New York. And I was like, what?
You like New York so much?
Speaker 2 (31:00):
He was like, because it's freedom.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
And I was like, what does that mean?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Were we in prison before?
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Maybe. What does that mean? I've actually been talking a
lot about this lately, just because I think it's really
nice weather right now, and you see people kind of-
We just went to the zoo and had the most
amazing day. It's so beautiful out, and so people are
dressing in ways where the- It's like when it first
becomes summer, and you start to see everyone's legs, and
people are wearing their fun summer stuff. Right now, I
(31:29):
think people are endeavoring into their fall clothes. In the layers.
And what I love about New York style is everyone
is so- So maybe he was reacting to that. Like
just the, I like.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Style. Yeah. Like the individualism. It's like, that is freedom.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
And I literally said that whenever, before we moved here
and I was, we were in LA, there was obviously
a lot going on in my world.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
And I was like, I need a fresh start.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
And I was like, and we, I happen to be
having a meeting with my label here at the time.
And it was years ago. And I remember looking at Tricia.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
My manager, and I was like, we were in a restaurant.
I think my sister was there too.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
And I was looking around and literally I was like,
everyone can be anyone here. I was like, there were
so many different, it was such a variety of human beings,
like in whatever culture they were from, whatever they were into.
Like it was, everybody looks so different, but everybody kind
of fit.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
And I was like, should we move here? I was like,
this is kind of awesome.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
You can just, and no one cares. Like if you're
famous here, no one cares. Everyone is the lead character
in their movie and I'm here for it.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
You're so right about that. It's like everyone is playing
their own soundtrack. And that could be, because I remember
when I first came here at 18, I remember you
felt the same, It can feel pretty lonely at first
because everyone knows exactly where they're going. And it's like, whoa, like,
I don't know. I can't walk that fast yet because
(32:56):
I don't know where I'm going yet. You know, it's
like everyone's so sure. Yeah, I think mine would.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Well, that's what I love about right now for me.
So I used to have to be so sure and
on time and everywhere. And now it's like as soon
as I get my kids to school on time. We're
figuring that out because dropping both of them off is crazy.
But anyway, you don't have to be in a hurry.
So to be able to live here and not be
in a hurry and just have whatever soundtrack you want
(33:22):
to go to or just listening just to the sound,
it's very wonderful.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Are you dating?
Speaker 2 (33:29):
No, my kids right now, I think there's a lot
behind that. But like, I think they, yeah, that would
rock their boat a little bit. And honestly, this is
not a bullshit answer. I love my life right now.
Like it just got like to where I am not
exhausted at every point of it.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
You don't have the anchors.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Well, and I feel like if you're going to be
in a relationship, you have to be willing to give
some of your time up.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
And I am unwilling. Good.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
That's a good thing. And also, this is probably the
first time, and I'm sure you understand this. I'm just
saying this because I understand this. It's like the first
time it's the three of you without this big thing
looming over it, having its own presence.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Yeah, it's been really good.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
And we're having fun and we're cooking, we're playing games.
I'm there at pickup or I'm there dropping off. It's
real different. But it's a beautiful city, I will say,
to live. to raise kiddos in too because I wasn't
really exposed to like different cultures I wasn't really exposed
to anything like that like I love where I grew
up obviously I turned out alright but I just meant
(34:36):
it's a cool thing for them to have just every
color of the rainbow every you know color of personality
everything you know what I'm saying it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Do they travel with you internationally too because you were
just saying you were in Shanghai oh.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Yeah they do and we loved it oh my god
let's talk about it let's talk about Shanghai so first
of all we went To several different parts of Asia.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
I love Asia.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
But we went to Shanghai and I was telling y'all
because I came in with my cute skirt.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
I've got a visual medium. You can see this skirt
if you watch on YouTube. But if you're just listening,
this is a good skirt.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Which I was thinking about making pants because it is
a cute pant look too. But anyway, because I love
altering things that I find. But I found it in
this cute thrift store in Shanghai in the middle of
this just random store. It was like the size of
a closet.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
It had such great stuff. Anyway, I love it. I
love Shanghai.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
I'm not a person... that's like super into fashion. I
like what I like, but like I'm not, it's not
like a thing I like, I don't think.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
That's a secret. Yeah, you have your own style, but
you don't, you're not into fashion fashion.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Yeah, I'm just like a hardcore, like I'm in it,
like I respect it and I love, I'm like, oh,
I love the creative, you know, behind it, but I'm
not generally, but I tell you what, I got to
Shanghai and I, saw all these chic Chinese grandmas. And
I was like, do I want to be a chic
Chinese grandma? They were so cool and everything was so
relaxed and layered and effortless and easy.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
But it was so cool. They look so good.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
So you are responding to something in that fashion sense.
All you have to do is Google Chinatown pretty. It's
this coffee table book. I have it at home. You've
seen it. It's like just old women and men from
Trinitowns across the world just looking fly as fuck. And
it's like I think this was– and it's very much
like a style that I was trying to adopt. I
(36:22):
don't think I've totally nailed it. But I think it's
like you and I have this connection.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Okay, wait. Have you seen the thing?
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Somebody showed me the day because I'm not on social media.
But my friends will show me things every now and then.
And there is this cute couple.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Are they from Thailand?
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Thailand? it's this older couple they own a laundromat and
people leave their stuff I think they were I can't
remember where they're.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
From but they take the stuff they take.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
It and they look so cool like they're the coolest
older couple and I'm like this is couple goals if
I could find someone like this I would carve out time.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
I'm like if I could find somebody that would hang
like this till I'm old this is time I would
carve out but they're so cool they take all the
stuff that people leave and they make outfits and they
post or whatever and they.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
I love secondhand.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
I always hate it too when they are like, oh,
you wore that here so you can't wear it again.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
I'm like, watch me. Watch me wear it again.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
People respect, there's no like, oh, they wore that again.
And if you were the kind of person who's like,
you're repeating an outfit, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Get real. I'm just like, what?
Speaker 2 (37:24):
It's such a waste.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
And it was comfortable the first time. It'll be comfortable
the second time. Also, sometimes things look good in many
different situations and scenarios. It's like.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
You're going to be wearing that skirt again, I'm sure,
very soon.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
I'm going to wear it everywhere.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Everywhere. It's so comfortable. Wait, where else did you go
in Asia?
Speaker 2 (37:43):
We went to Beijing.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
We did the Great Wall.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
And it was so funny because my mom has a cane.
She had to have surgery on both of her knees
at some point. So they're not the same, right?
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
And so we get to the Great Wall and the
steps are.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
They're crazy.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Are crazy.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
No, they're not good.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Some of them are two feet tall, I feel like.
And then one's like, you know. Yeah, tiny.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
It's crazy different, right?
Speaker 2 (38:05):
But we made it.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
All the way to the wall. And then my mom
was like, oh.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
And she looked at it and she was like.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
And I go, oh, no, no.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
We did not come all the way to Beijing. Get
to the Great Wall for you to just look at them.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
I'm like, we're going to get up there. And so
all these people were watching me. My mom was on.
my shoulders.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
And I was literally underneath of her just pushing her
up the stairs. Cause like you have to get on
the wall. We did not come all the way here.
So we got her up there, but I think they
were like crazy Americans.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Like, cause I was, it was hilarious. And they probably
were like, we saw Kelly Clarkson lift her mother over
her head. Well, they were actually very helpful.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
People were very helpful and sweet. They were actually very sweet.
That's something I love too about Asian culture. I witnessed
is like, they're well sweet, but also with Asian, the
moms or grandmas or whatever, everybody is like, everybody is
so polite and everybody is so helpful and everybody, it's
like that you almost, it's like such a level of
respect for your elders. Like it's, I loved that.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Did you guys slide down?
Speaker 2 (39:05):
We wanted to do that. They had that closed for
some reason. We were going to do that and it
was closed because I wanted to do it.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
I saw it online.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
There's like little sleds. There's like slides and you get
in the little thing and then you slide all the
way down.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
I need to go. I know. It's really fun. I
love to slide. I love that I feel like Lily
Tomlin in that big chair.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Yeah see do you like these are my the socks
oh River they made oh my god you're welcome it's
a crafty community I know.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
My fans are yeah they are okay so speaking of
speaking of your fans I think that they're wanting to
know something and you're dropping hints and they're big hints
and I have to ask you right directly to your
face ask me And it would be cool if this was...
I will say what I can say. Is it a
country album coming?
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Oh!
Speaker 1 (39:54):
You know what? I wouldn't expect... Hmm.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Defined genre I wouldn't expect defined genre even like the
single that I released like so far there's only been
only two Where Have You Been was very different it
was kind of you know classic and could go in
many different genres I feel like and then I'd Be
Lying was definitely down the road like pop rock like
we kind of did that the next one we've been
(40:20):
working on right now is completely different than any single
I've ever put out and honestly it was kind of
A happy accident.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Uh-huh. Based on who you were working with? Well, no.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
It's based on how I had to record something because
of the situation I was in and I had to
be quiet.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
And then it was like. Maybe there's something here.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
It was kind of cool how it happened. So the
next one's very interesting. And the next one, they all
don't sound like each other. And there's definitely different genres
already have been written and working on.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
But like.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
That's the thing that I loved about starting my label.
And I was like, I don't care if it's successful
or not. I just want to write what I want
to write when I write it. And I want to
release it when I want to release it.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
People dig it.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Cool.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
People don't, it's not their vibe. Cool.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Like it's like, but I, I definitely am not going
to do the thing where you have to release the
same vibe every time.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
So that, so it's very different. It was the stagecoach
of it all. And I do feel like you give
it a little twang on I'd Be Lion. And so
I was like, I was wondering if we were headed
in a specific direction. But also, this feels more accurate
to who you've always been.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Well, yeah, and I've played country events before.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Several times.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
I haven't been able to say yes to Stagecoach or
any festivals really just because.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Of time, because of the talk show.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
So excited. So I am like, I literally like once
I wrapped up the show, I told my agents, I
was like, okay, all these things I've been having to
say no to, I would really love to jump into
because I love doing, you know, I played the Houston
Radio too. And like, you know, there's several plays that
like a lot of country artists more or less play generally.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
But I mean, I've done that pretty regularly on and
off for years, but no, they asked me, it was like,
you want to open for Garth? Like at this, at Stagecoach.
And I was like- That has to be sick for you.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Yes, I do.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
No, are you shitting me?
Speaker 1 (42:07):
No, your songs and stories with Garth was so special.
I love him. Yeah, he's amazing.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
I've sung with him before. We've been in the studio before.
I'm obsessed even more with his wife. Like I love
Trisha so much.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Oh my God, her voice. The Georgia rain. God, she's
so amazing. This is me you're talking to. Do you
know that song? Do I know that song? I shouldn't
have done that. You put me onto that one.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
How rude.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
It's so good.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
I'm telling you. She's crazy. That song. Yeah. It's so crazy.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
She's really, she's just a, She's just a crazy talented vocalist.
And I love the same people she loves too. Like
Linda Ronstadt, that's one of her favorite singers. That's one
of mine as well. But like Linda, she floated to
different genres.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
And even languages. And then there's another, there's like a
few projects I'm working on right now. Because there's another
one that fans have been asking for.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
Four years. And then there's.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Another one people may or may not be expecting because
we're coming up on 25 years.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
I know what it is because you actually told me
what it was. And I'm not going to guess because
I know.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
But he's not going to reveal it either.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
I think a lot of fans have guessed and I
kind of mentioned a little bit when I was on stage.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Because you looked me in my eyes and said, don't
say anything. Okay. And I told you you could trust me.
And then I probably walked directly out on stage right
after that. Said to everyone.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
No, I haven't like announced it, but no, there's something
that people have been asking for for a while. And look,
I just, I was waiting for the right It hadn't
been the right time. And I love where I'm at
vocally right now. I love how we sound right now
as a band.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
You beat the robots. You sang Golden and you beat A.I.
I beat A.I. It's time.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
I'm telling you, that's a hard one. It's a tall order.
It is a tall order. But speaking of, you know,
we're talking about Stagecoach and you mentioned Linda. And I
feel like one thing that I'll always remember is you
always give a vinyl at the end of your... when
people came to your show and I've gotten a few
from you because we've been lucky enough to be on
the show and one of them that you gave me
(44:14):
was Jolene by Dolly Parton and I was just thinking
about that the other day because obviously Dolly's been so
top of mind I'm actually going to Dollywood in a
few weeks for the first time oh I love Dollywood
for the first time? never been you're gonna love it
I'm like a huge rollercoaster person.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
Okay let me break something down for you come on
now there is a wooden.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Rollercoaster there talking about Thunderhead? I don't remember the name
but I will never ride it again. Was it tough?
Here's the thing, I ride everything.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Like I ride the stuff that people you see getting
stuck on.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
YouTube, like I ride everything. You go for it.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
This particular roller coaster, My sister and I rode together
and I thought, well, at least I'm gonna die with her.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
It's another thing that Dolly was good at.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
It's like the wooden roller coaster, the Texas giant, like
in Texas, it's wooden.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
I used to wait three and a half to four
hours for that ride.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
And it's wooden. And you know how you feel and
it feels like it shakes in a different way?
Speaker 3 (45:11):
I don't know how you do on wooden.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
I love wooden.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
You should definitely write it. Know that you're going to
make it. Yeah. There's been times when I'm like, I'm like,
Oh wow. This is, this is truly, they just actually,
there was a roller coaster in six flags, magic mountain.
It was called X two and they're actually taking it
down because someone just got like serious. I think something
really happened like with their brain and And then they
(45:38):
released findings that were like, yeah, this roller coaster actually
may not be safe. So it's like every time you
go to a theme park and you're like, oh, please,
you're so much safer in this than you are in
your own car. It's like, not this one. And I've
done that one. And it was the only time, the
one and only time I felt like I might die
(45:59):
on this.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
Did you and I do Kingda Ka together?
Speaker 1 (46:01):
We did What is it called?
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Kingda Ka They took that down too It's a big
phallus to the sky.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
It was like this And it was basically You go
zero to 100 I think 40 In two seconds And
then you go up 90 degrees.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
Totally vertical And then it's a big Big ol' penis
in the sky And then it goes all the way
down 450 feet I don't know about that Cause they
took that down too I.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Generally do ride everything.
Speaker 3 (46:26):
At least once You got kids now. You can't do that.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
No, I did it this time and it was funny.
I was with my brother-in-law on this one. I don't
know what the ride, I don't remember where we were.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Were we at Universal? I can't remember. We usually, we
generally do Universal and Disney like a same trip. You gotta.
That's what we do.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
And oh my gosh, there was, I can't remember the
name of it.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Velocicoaster?
Speaker 1 (46:44):
One was yellow. The Velocicoaster, is that the one? Stardust Racers.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
Stardust Racers. Mama, we got the mug.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
You deserve that fucking mug, because I'll tell you what.
Let me tell you something. That ride, that was hilarious.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
First of all, I'm so glad I rode with my brother-in-law,
because he is like 6'4, and like a manly dude.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
The G-forces don't play on bodies that big, though.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
Manly dude.
Speaker 1 (47:08):
And he was like, he was like, I did this
to myself. He was making a tear, like saying stuff
that I've never heard him say. And I laughed the
whole time.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
I was so glad I rode with him, because if
I wouldn't have ridden with him, I think I'd have
peed my pants.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
So Kelly, we actually have you to thank for this.
We went down there and covered Epic Universe for your show.
And then they put us on the Stardust Racers. With
the GoPro. Were you in front?
Speaker 3 (47:32):
We were in the very front. And then guess what?
For coverage, they had us.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
Do it twice. Hey, guess what? We did it twice too,
pretty sure. We had just come from doing the hot ones.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
No, we tried to do it twice and then it
broke down.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
We didn't do it twice.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
It broke down. But Kelly, this is how you understand.
Which you don't like to hear.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
No.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
The cube experience, the line experience, waiting in line between
rides is actually a hugely important part of it.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Your body needs to reset.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
Your body needs to reset.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Okay, let me tell you about another friend of mine.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
Cosmic Rewind.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Oh, we love her. That's our dream.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
That's my favorite ride in all of the lands. And
I ride it like 10 times in a row. I
look at those guides and I go, when do we
get to rude?
Speaker 1 (48:13):
You know what I'm saying? How many times do we
cut it?
Speaker 2 (48:16):
At what point do we get to like, she's a
piece of shit for going this many times.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
But it's my one. I would go to Disney World twice.
Just for that ride to ride all day long. You
go do that? You eat at the Hibachi Japan?
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Yeah. You have an amazing night? Jamie Berry, our guide
at Universal, who we love.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
We love you, Jamie. We love you, girl.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
She says it's... I might get her in trouble for
saying this.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
What?
Speaker 3 (48:37):
She's like, well, Cosmic Rewind's the best coaster in the world.
Speaker 2 (48:40):
It is the best coaster in the world, but I
will tell you, Shanghai, let's come back.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Wait, yes.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Have you been to Disney World Shanghai?
Speaker 3 (48:45):
I have. I went to the beginning with Tron. But
now Tron's in Orlando. What were you going to say?
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Have you ridden Pirates of the Caribbean in Shanghai?
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Yes, I have. I have.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
This is like legendary one. The new one?
Speaker 3 (48:56):
Not the new one because I went when it opened
in 2015 or something. No, this is crazy.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
This is a new one. Oh my God.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
This ride, we were like, is this the future of rides?
Speaker 1 (49:07):
You can't believe what you see.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
What happens?
Speaker 1 (49:08):
What happens?
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Literally, all you hear is every human go, because it's
the most incredible ride. First of all, I had no
idea we were underwater. I had no idea that we
were going to.
Speaker 1 (49:18):
Ride the sky. How are they? The birds.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Of dollars that were spent on that ride, every penny
was worth it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Wow. It's like a boat ride, but that also- You
go underwater? So that it's got full screens. So basically
it's like you look out and it's the screen. You
don't really know where the practical water ends and the
screen begins.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
It's like you're in virtual reality.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
It's kind of like a better version of, what was it?
Journey to the Center of the Earth? at Tokyo Disney oh.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
I like Journey to the Sun no no no it's
like a jacked up version of Pirates of the.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Caribbean it's like like a hundred times cause then my
son and I we went to Disney we got back
and he goes he looked at me and we were
just at like Disneyland or Disney World here and he
was like.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
It's not the same.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
Oh!
Speaker 1 (49:58):
He's dead ass right.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
It was his favorite ride. That was his favorite ride
in like Shanghai Disney Rundet.
Speaker 3 (50:04):
You know.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
Because he's like, well, it'll never be like that. It
can and will never be the Shanghai moment.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Pirates of the Caribbean. Okay, I have to go back.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
I love that y'all love Cosmic Rewind.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Wait, what's your favorite song?
Speaker 1 (50:15):
Conga. That's a good one.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
So for the first time I went, we went five times,
never got Everybody Wants to Rewind the World, which was
my favorite song. Oh, I like that one too. I
want it so badly. We just went. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
It's so good.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
But then when we met back this time, a couple
months ago, September.
Speaker 1 (50:33):
That's my son's favorite.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
And I was just vibing. I felt like I was
on a party drug. It is a party drug!
Speaker 1 (50:40):
Without taking drugs! It's such a good vibe. It changed
some of our friends' lives. Our friend Steven got off
of it, and I don't think he stopped talking about it.
People get on the ride, they get off, and they're like,
I can't deal with the fact that I have reached
the peak joy of my life.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
You've transcended.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
My daughter got me for Christmas this past year an
actual Cosmic Rewind. She had one made on Etsy with
my nanny. She was like, we know you love this.
I was like, it's my happy place.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
It's the dream. And now you have a song on
the Rockin' Roller Coaster. Yes! Huge coup. It's my version
of Walking on Sunshine. Yes.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
That was really cool. And my kids, we got on
it and rode it. And I felt like I was Thor.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
Of course. Because they were like, this is you on
the ride. I was like, I'm incredible, right? This is amazing.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
We're rollercoasters.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
You randomly got it or did they figure it out?
Speaker 3 (51:36):
They had to play it for you.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
They said they couldn't actually time it. They were going
to try to, but they can't actually because of how
it whatever. They were like, we're hoping, we're trying to
do it.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
And it happened.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
Wait. But can we just say for a second, that
does not inspire much confidence in roller coasters in general.
Because if Disney World can't sync it so that they
can play Walking on Sunshine for Kelly Clarkson.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
It's because it's random.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
They do it at a random, because there's so many
songs that they do.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
You can't have roller coasters be random. It's the same
thing as like Cosmic Rewind, though.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
You can't. Sure, sure, sure.
Speaker 1 (52:07):
It's randomized.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
It's randomized.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
It's intentionally randomized. You can't leave anything to chance on
these things. They were really trying. But we did get it.
It was very cool to have your own voice, Lang.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
But I will say, I was such a fan of Aerosmith.
I am a huge fan, but I was such a
fan of them on that ride. I was so over
the yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, like in the beginning.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Why?
Speaker 1 (52:25):
You know, his whole thing. Yeah, I loved it.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
And I'd be doing it as well, and my son
is like, what's wrong with you?
Speaker 1 (52:32):
You know who we did get? Jennifer Hudson.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
We got Jennifer Hudson.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Is she on one of them?
Speaker 1 (52:36):
She's on one of them, too. What is she singing?
She sings Love Rollercoaster. Rollercoaster of love. Yeah, it was great. Yeah.
One thing is I want them to crank it up
a little bit volume wise. Maybe our ears weren't far
back enough.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Crank it.
Speaker 1 (52:50):
As Slater says. What are you listening to lately? Jungle? Love.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
My makeup artist turned me on to Jungle, and now
I'm obsessed and listen to it all the time.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Yeah, I saw them at Coachella two years ago.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
Oh, really? Incredible. I'm behind.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
She actually, funny enough, showed me like two years ago,
and I missed it in the text, and I went
back to look for a picture she had sent for something,
and I was like, what is this?
Speaker 1 (53:13):
So I missed it. She told me about it like
a couple years ago, and I... totally missed it.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
But yeah love that that's cool attaboy I'm obsessed with
attaboy yep I can listen to that all the time
cause I get on I like music that I can
get on my cause I you know have been this
summer in Montana a lot yeah yeah yeah any trail
ride music cause I'll be in my ATV just like
on the trail and I any vibe music like that
I'm down for yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
You wanna you wanna let it rip on the yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Yeah oh and then there's this song I don't know
the title I'm trying to learn it I think it's
I don't know what I'm going to sound stupid. I'm
not even going to say what I said. Anyway, I
love it.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
It's a Carol G song and it's called See. It's
an older song of hers.
Speaker 3 (53:52):
It's a new Carol G. Oh my God, I'm obsessed
with it.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
I was supposed to go see her the other night
at MetLife and couldn't go. She's filling out MetLife? Good
for her. She also headlined Coachella last year and it
was unbelievable. See, I didn't even know that. I am obsessed.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Ever. Ever.
Speaker 1 (54:13):
I gotta be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
I didn't even know that.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
I just love it.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
It's just huge.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
It was like, if you like this, you might like
this or something. And I was like, okay. And I
was listening to it and I was like, is this
my favorite song?
Speaker 1 (54:23):
My kids, it's so funny though.
Speaker 2 (54:24):
We're all in the car and we're like. But no words. Yeah,
I'm like, I haven't learned it yet, and I really
want to learn it.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
It doesn't matter. You know the notes.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
If I was doing a Kelly Oki, I would do that.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
I wasn't aware of the song. Yeah. I know. I
was very mad about it.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
This is where you make your big announcement. You're coming back.
You're coming back. Coming back just to cover this song.
You know what I need people to make more noise
about is the new Ellie Goulding. Oh, I don't know. Oh,
she just released a new album.
Speaker 3 (54:55):
Oh. That's obsessed.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
I love her. I like her too. And you know what?
I didn't realize how much I loved her always.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
Because I think that she actually is a pop artist
that people took for granted.
Speaker 3 (55:06):
I think they did too.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
And I think that she actually was much more influential
on the sound of all the... younger pop girlies now
even the way she sings like i guess they call
it the cursive style of singing like i wouldn't consider
that curse not really but you know it's like sort
of like there's like an inherent rasp in it yeah
yeah it's authentic to her yes yeah and also i
(55:27):
would also give credit to halsey for this yes you
know what i mean i also don't i don't think
i think both of those ladies don't really give enough
get enough credit for like michaels too yeah yeah Who?
Speaker 3 (55:39):
Julia Michaels.
Speaker 2 (55:40):
Yeah, that sound too, because she was on a lot
of those, before she had her own thing, she was
on a lot of those demos that went around. She
was writing for a lot of people. So a lot
of people kind of adopted her sound too. I would hear,
I'm like, oh, that sounds like Julia. Because I only
knew her as a demo singer. Because when they'd send
you songs or whatever, they're like, hey, do you like this?
Speaker 1 (55:58):
Because I write, but I also.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
Sing other people's stuff. And I would start to hear her.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
It's like her and Sia. You're like, who is this
girl I keep hearing?
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Yeah, well, it was like her and Sia, like people
would kind of adopt their sound when they do sing
their songs a little bit.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
Yeah, I remember Lea Michele did that. She had the song,
like I cannot move. And I was like, this is
a big open Sia song.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
But it's kind of because they wrote a lot of
songs for a lot of other people. So I think
that's what, before they even... You know, not before, not Sia.
Sia was up before, but Julia definitely was writing a
lot before Sharon.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Julia wrote for you, right? Yeah, she's written stuff. Yeah,
she's written, yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
So good. The Sia song. Not Piece by Piece.
Speaker 3 (56:35):
Oh, no, no, but on the album.
Speaker 1 (56:36):
Oh, I thought you meant that song.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
I was like, oh, no, not that one.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
No, that was all you.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:41):
Oh, there's some trauma for that one. I know.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
I was like, wait, I'm not bringing up the stuff.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
Testament to that song, though, that it's lived so many lives. Oh,
Piece by Piece?
Speaker 3 (56:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (56:51):
And kind of cool, because.
I never really thought about music like that to be able,
you know, you always think about it of where it
is and it's that chapter and that's what it is.
And I was like, well, that's kind of interesting to
have somebody come in and like go, well, this is
a different chapter. What does this feel like now?
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
I never really thought I've never done it with another song,
but like, and probably won't. But then it kind of
feels like it landed where it was supposed to.
Speaker 1 (57:17):
For me now.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
It's like a both sides now situation in a way.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Oh my God.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
You know what I mean? That's such a great song.
But it'll just change meaning over time. Songs have that quality. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (57:28):
Or when you listen to songs that you really like
when you're young and you're like, oh, I didn't get it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
Oh, absolutely. There's whole artists for me like that. It
happened for me with Lana Del Rey. Yeah? I never
really understood it. And then, again, a few years ago
at Coachella, She did her headlining set and I was like, oh,
I get Lana Del Rey.
Speaker 3 (57:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
And then I went through like a whole year long
Lana period.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
I mean, her voice, her approach is such a cool
vibe and singular.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
Like it's her thing, you know? Did you sing off
to the races once? I did.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
Oh. so cool I don't know if I.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
Did it on the show I think I did it
I think I saw you do it in concert.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Yeah I think I did it in concert because people
don't realize the Kelly Oakey thing like I've been covering
songs since well American.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
Idol but you did it in all your shows.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Since my first tour like I've been doing that regularly
so we just kind of brought it in the TV
show so it's kind of because they're like oh what
are you going to do now I'm like well kind
of what I was doing before I was like I've
been doing this like on the road for a while
so yeah no I did I did off to the race.
Speaker 1 (58:32):
Yeah I love that one Just to speak one more
time about the dolly of it all. I wanted to know,
did you have a relationship with her? Like a close
relationship with her? Not a super close one.
Speaker 2 (58:42):
We always ran into each other and we're both very.
We're both like souls that you could meet for the
first time, I feel like. And we're both like, what's up?
And you could really engage with someone and almost feel
like you've known them for a minute. I feel like
we both have that kind of vibe about us.
Speaker 1 (58:57):
Totally.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
And we.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
From the first moment we met and we were sitting together, actually,
I think it was at a Reba tribute years and
years and years ago. And it was her and Barbara
Mandrell and me. And I was like, which one of
these is it? is not like the other?
Speaker 1 (59:11):
I was like.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
No, this is years ago for like a country thing.
And then we kept running into each other. We'd, we'd
run into each other at different things.
Speaker 1 (59:17):
I remember this. You sang, why haven't I heard from you?
That's what I did.
Speaker 4 (59:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:21):
This was another thing.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
It was in Nashville that we were both doing a
tribute or it might've been in LA.
Speaker 1 (59:25):
They were shooting. I can't remember.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
But anyway, Um, we, but the thing that I think
the moment we had, which was so telling, which nobody
really knew was like the day. Well, first of all,
she'd asked, they'd said, Oh, Dolly was asking if you'd
sing at this tribute because they're doing a Dolly tribute.
And I guess she had asked specifically if I would
do it. And I was like, oh, my God, for sure.
Whatever she wants.
Speaker 1 (59:45):
Well, didn't know that would entail I will.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
Always love you.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
Yeah, but she loved your version.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
Well, that is a tall order from two giant, enormous
influences of mine that are like, what? So we tried
to do a marriage to honor her version and Whitney's.
But it was crazy. because not many people knew. I mean,
they knew she was side stage and like watching me
do it. And, but they didn't know like my divorce papers,
(01:00:12):
everything was final, my life, 30 minutes before that performance.
So I found out like right before that performance.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
So you lived it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
And I'm sitting there and she kind of caught me
and we were backstage and I was like, I'm sorry.
I was like, I'm, I was like, I, cause she
kind of saw and she was, I, I'd done something
and we were having a conversation about something else.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
And And I was like, I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
I was like, it's just kind of a wild moment
for me.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
And I was like, I'm going to go out there
and do this song.
Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
And I know, you know, the, the, uh, Porter Wagner,
like the whole thing with that song and like why
that song is, it was just kind of crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Like what I was going through in that moment.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
And then we just had this moment backstage where she's
just one of those people. You don't have to know
your whole life, but you can in one instance, like,
and so every time we ran into each other, she
was so cool. And it's like you're catching up with
an old friend. But then that moment for me and,
you know, what she said backstage to me was just
like it was just a really beautiful thing and really
helpful because I was like, oh, my God, you cannot
(01:01:09):
break like this moment isn't about you.
Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
Like this is a tribute to someone.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
And but I was like carrying like, you know, so
much had just been like lift. It was just a
really weird hour for me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
But yeah. But anyway, she was very, very cool. And
I'll never forget that moment.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
And.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
And then I also was like, I slightly hate you
for asking me to sing this song.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
This is a tall order. It feels like that's kind
of a bit of a theme is you need to
or you are asked to sing songs in very difficult moments.
Like even going back all the way to American Idol
where it's like there's pressure on this live moment and
then there's the overwhelming emotion.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
They asked me to sing that and I came back
and it was like, oh man, I'm pregnant and so emotional.
Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
And it was like these halls as I was 19
years old. And yeah, we've seen you perform while carrying
a lot, many times over the past now 20, almost
25 years. That's kind of maybe the most out of
anyone like that sings professionally. It's like, we see, you know,
that's the thing too. You don't know what people are.
That's right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
Like I'm like, you know, I've, I remember I had
to leave. We were all on tour and Katie came out.
Katie Perry came out with her, it was at a documentary,
a film or something, whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
We went to go watch it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
I had to leave.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
Cause I was like, if the moment when she was in,
I think it was Sao Paulo. I've been at that
festival too. And you're coming up and your life is
falling apart, but you're like, okay, this moment isn't about me.
So I've got to like pull it together for the others. Like,
you know, it's like, and it's not like a, we're
all human. So if you break, it's okay. But like it,
you know, it's just like I had to, I was like, oh,
and I'm good. I was like, I don't need to
(01:02:46):
watch this.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
But all of us do that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Like, yes, it's maybe different when you're in a spotlight
and tons of people watching, but the same thing, people
are showing up at their cubicle or they're showing up
as a teacher or they're showing up whatever job they do.
We all have so much going on. And that's why
it's like when it can be such a hateful kind of,
hard world it's like just remember everybody's got their own
(01:03:10):
shit going on you have no idea what's happening behind
the curtain and what they're kind of keeping together like
you just don't know so like maybe just be a
little kind.
Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
Of course you know but I think you're also an
example of even if you do share that if you,
and that's totally at your discretion, but if you do
share the things that you're going through as you go
and perform something like you just did with the Dolly
story or with the piece by, I'll never forget the
piece by piece performance because of the context, because of
what you were experiencing.
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
Well, and people don't know, like, also, rough times. Of course.
For me and my significant other at that time.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Yes, yes. So it was like a lot of projection, too,
of like, we can do this.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
You know, like, it was like, yeah. It's almost like,
it's almost like you're performing the song, like, even to yourself,
you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Oh, for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Yeah, and like wanting it to be a reality.
Speaker 3 (01:03:58):
So just even if people do know, I think it's
not a bad thing. It's a great thing. It's like
a really additive layer to it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
I don't know, it just makes it even more special.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
Well, and I say that, I probably wouldn't have ever
told that story, but I say that because it's really
a testament to.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
Of who she was as a person as well. That's
what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Like she was so helpful and beautiful as a human
and was talking to me as a human and wasn't
worried at all about the song or like the performance.
She was like, it was just on a human level.
She was such a kind individual. And I think that
a lot of bad always gets said about people and gossip,
you know, the bad stuff always gets said more than
the good. And so it's like, no, she was an
(01:04:36):
amazing musician and songwriter and a pioneer for women in
the industry, for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
All of those things.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
But like, I mean, for sure, just an amazing human
to live up to.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Also, you know, there's so much talk right now about how.
you know, she was the most beloved American, and everyone
could agree on her. But the thing is, I feel
like when people say that, they're forgetting she also was
a very outspoken person. And you knew what she believed in,
and she believed in children's literacy, and she believed that
people should be kind, and she was a fierce advocate
(01:05:09):
for queer people and LGBTQ plus rights. But you always
knew she was heart forward. You know what I mean?
I feel like you share that with her.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Well, and I feel like with her too, people forget like,
I mean, we're young for this, but like, I think
it was a little hard for her in the beginning, too.
She was doing a lot of things that people weren't doing.
Not even just standing up, but even physical things.
Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
She'd be very honest about it. She'd be like, I
know people make fun of you. She was very just
open and vulnerable, and I think that's what was so
attractive about it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
She wasn't pretending to be anything other than exactly what
she was. She was one of those people that's like, no,
I've had no work done. Right, exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
Which at the time was... Revolutionary.
Speaker 1 (01:05:54):
No, that's what I'm saying. It was very bold. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
But I don't think she was meaning to be bold.
I think that's just how she came out. Yeah. You know, like,
talking with her, it's like, I just think that's who
you are.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
And she's funny.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Like, I don't think she was trying to, like, be
brave or bold or whatever. With her, too, it's very
clear when you watch her, like, humor was also armor
for her yeah you know what i mean she was
like i'm gonna make a joke there like it takes
a lot of money to look this cheap like instead
of like i'm gonna say the thing about me before
you can yeah and that i have the power.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
It's playground bully mentality yeah you gotta make fun of
yourself before the other one can i gotta beat you
to it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
Yeah but the thing i'll never forget and like you
know that barbara walters interview kept circulating when she passed
but like that when i watched like back in.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
College i didn't see that one what.
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Oh, she's just, you know, Barbara Walters was like, you
don't have to dress in all these ridiculous outfits. You
don't have to have the wig. You don't have to
do all these things. Like, why don't you just present
yourself as a songwriter? And she goes, oh, well, she goes,
I know that fame is a money-making joke and I
just do this because I like it. And she goes,
I am sure of myself. I am sure of my talent.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
And I'm like, that's all it has to be for her. Yeah.
I'm like, oh, that's all it has to be for anybody.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
You know what I mean? You just have to be
sure of what you have to give. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
And I think that's the thing too, like running into
people in the industry that are, I mean, we've all
worked with them.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
They can be.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Insecure and it's like insecurity is such a cancer for
a room.
Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
Like it's like, it'll just kill us.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
It's like, oh, like don't do that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
Like, don't like be confident in your gifts, be confident
with what you have, like be bold. Like that's it's
because when you have people like that and you're around,
that kind of legend. And it's like, well, they're breached
out because they're so confident in their skin and they're
confident in their talent. And they're not afraid to say
that person did a good job because it lessens.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
What they do. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Like, I feel like a lot of people can be
so insecure. It's like, Oh, if I give them flowers,
that means I get less.
Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
And it's like, what?
Speaker 3 (01:07:48):
I just feel like now.
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
I'm owed something for having been kind. You know what
I mean? It's like, you know what I mean? Like
those people that are just like, you can tell it's
all a little bit transactional.
Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
Of course. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Oh, I love that. Anyway, they're all I mean, it's
just so funny. It's just like when you get into
the industry, you realize like good leadership is actually really
kind of rare. Like it's like it's like anything, though,
you know, but I.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Usually feel I mean, do you find that most people
that are good.
Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
Leaders don't want to be? Oh, that's actually a really
good point.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
They don't want to be like it's like they know
you get put in that situation.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
It's like. really want to do this. Like, you know
what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
It's like, I feel like most people that I look
to and I'm like, oh, they're good. It wasn't because
they like wanted to be, they just kind of are.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Yeah. Like service made them go forward and not like,
I am going to be the person to deliver this message.
Only I can do it. Yeah. Well, that's a narcissist. Yes.
Only I. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Okay. Truly.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
These people, they are out there. They're crawling. Get away
from them. It's okay though.
Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
You know what? I, it'll, I think getting older, too, like,
with stuff like that, especially talking to my kids, like,
because they're, you know, they're harder ages. once in middle
school and it's like hey buddy like it'll find them
it'll find them don't worry about it like you do
you and if somebody's putting that out there don't don't
even worry about it like they're first of all their
(01:09:11):
movie sucks because they're focused on yours like their life
sucks like it's like if their life was awesome they
wouldn't be so worried about what you're doing yeah like
it's like so just Yeah, I was like, just stay
the course. And like, it'll, don't be mad that, because
sometimes my daughter can be like, the injustice really gets
to her.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
And it's like, I get that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
And yes, there is a point to where, depending on the.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
Situation, but like, as well, like, don't worry about that
and do you. It'll find them. What you put out
there will come back. So be careful what you're putting
out there. You're right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
It does.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
The best way to go about it is just to
understand that you can't control other people's actions.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
And that's, what a freedom.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
I know. To know. I don't have to take.
Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
It's enough to worry about your own front porch.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
You know what's one thing that I feel like I
learned in the last year that has been really, really easy?
It's just remember how people make you feel. You know
what I mean? Just clock it. If someone is making
you feel a consistent way, that's not.
Something to ignore. It's like even if they're not meaning
(01:10:14):
to do it, it's like how you feel there's something there.
And it doesn't make them bad or wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
It just makes it not what you're needing right now
and not what I'm into.
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Yeah. You know, and it's just it's also like it's
your energy. It's your feelings. I think I thought for
a long time like, oh, I have to have this
person in my life because they're in my life. You
know what I mean? And then I think when you
get a little bit older and your time means less.
and your energy means more. It's like, you get a
little wiser and you get a little bit more economical
(01:10:41):
with your own time. Where it's like, I don't have
the time to have the same conversation with you that
we've had for 15 years.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
This is the same conversation we've had.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
No you keep asking the same questions what was the
culture that you say culture is for.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
You I'm over it no I do get it because
like I think we can all get stuck sometimes and
if you don't have those friends that can be like
you need to get unstuck we need to we need
to work through that you know if they're not doing
that it's just such a vibe kill yeah of course.
Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
Well, speaking of vibe kill, we're about to do a
positive vibe kill.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
This is I Don't Think So, Honey.
Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:11:19):
And this is our moment. I love mine. To sort
of rant, rail, and more. Oh, you have a prepared
one today? I do.
Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
I'm so thrilled. And it's a controversial one.
Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
That's the best one.
Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
Controversy helps us get clicks.
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
I just mean, I think a lot of people have
a lot of thoughts on it, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Can we see this jacket actually before? Because I think
it's actually really cute. Does it say iced tea on
the back? Okay, so this is Carrie. Sugar honey iced tea.
Which stands for shit. It's from Whole Lotta Woman. But
it's also in Whole Lotta Woman.
Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
So Carrie was who worked Atlantic Records. She worked the
record with me and she had it made. But yes,
it does say shit.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
It does say shit.
Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Which is just, it's a double win.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
Double win. I'm going to go first.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
This is our 60 second little rant segment.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
You know, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
This is Matt Rogers, I don't think so honey, his
time starts now.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
Like the time thing, it stresses me out. I don't
think so honey, lower back. I feel you getting different.
And here's the thing. Just started engaging with kettlebells. We're
not gonna fight about this lower back. We're gonna do
the things we need to do. We're gonna engage our,
what I'm told is my whole lower body and it's
gonna change everything. Lower back, I feel like I don't
(01:12:32):
think so, honey, in the mornings when I can't feel you.
It's not that it's in pain. It's just like, can
I feel it? Lower back, you are the hardest thing
to stretch. It is very uncomfortable to try to stretch
you because when I am going to stretch my back,
the back stretches I do know, that's sort of like,
I mean, I can feel it a little bit, but again,
(01:12:53):
it's never exactly right. Do you feel me on this?
Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
15 seconds.
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
I don't think so, honey. Lower back. It's just it's
incredibly hard to engage in a way where you're worried
and an incredibly. No, it's incredibly easy to engage in
a way where you're worried after, but incredibly hard to
engage with it in a way where like now I
feel better. And I don't want another addiction. You know
what I mean? Like if I start taking pain meds
for it. Don't do it. Because already I self-medicate with
(01:13:20):
the marijuana and I'm calling myself in. Got to stop
doing that. Going to go to the weed seltzers.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Oh, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
That's still a THC addiction. And that is enabling attitude
on my part. But I'm going to figure my life out. First,
lower back. You got to help me.
Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
And that's one minute and 30 seconds.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Whoa, did I really go that over?
Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
That's okay. I let you have the floor. He can't
handle another addiction because he's not really giving up the weed.
He's just taking it. You're giving up smoking.
Speaker 1 (01:13:49):
So I have to go on tour in December and
be singing. You're no quitter, yeah. No, I'm no quitter. No,
and now it's at the point where I'm like, okay.
It's now like the synthetic marijuana that they make is so...
I used to just be a good old-fashioned... you know,
ordinary stoner. And now it's like the weed that they
(01:14:10):
make that they sell truly on the street legal is like,
you know, it's, oh, this is, this is, it's not weed.
It's chronic.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
Then you keep saying it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
That's what I'm saying. It's not marijuana. It's chronic. It's
a Dre record.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
It's a Dre record. It's literally.
Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
It's the chronic. It's not okay.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Anyway. I think, you know what's actually interesting? I thought
my lower back issues were very unique to me because
I have no torso issues. Meanwhile, you're all torso.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
Quite long.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
And you're damned if you do. You're damned if you don't. Lengthwise,
your lower back's going to fuck you.
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
I want to check in on you.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
I'm older than y'all, though, so hold on. Have you
ever been at a really long dinner? You're out with friends.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
We have surpassed three hours. This is not a normal dinner.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
Get me out of there. It's not a normal dinner,
but you've had fun.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Nobody even realizes it's been three hours. It's one of
those dinners.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
Oh, it's nice.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
But then you get up.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
And you're like, what the fuck is happening with my
back right now? How was I, what was, what happened?
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
And you were in a seated position in one position
so long, you're maybe crammed into a booth, and then
all of a sudden you're like, How does everything from
my lower back down hurt right now?
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Like, what is happening right now? What did I do?
I didn't do anything. And that was the problem. I
was stiff too long.
Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
This is a little personal, but was it crazy back
style stuff when you were with child?
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
I honestly remember nothing from pregnancy except for wanting to,
my life, it was the worst experience.
Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Of my life.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
I was vomiting and just the worst experience of my life.
I'm not one of those people that's like.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
It's magical. No, get out of here. I mean, congratulations
for you.
Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
But it can't just be that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
It was the worst experience of my life. And I
thought it couldn't get worse. And then I got pregnant again.
And it turns out it can get worse.
Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
The second time was worse.
Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
The second time was worse. I was hospitalized both. I
don't remember anything except for just the horror film.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
I'm so sorry. Oh, my God.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
I'm sorry to bring it up.
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
I just thought in terms of the back pain, I'm like, well,
that's the ultimate final boss.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
I mean, it's just weird, though, when you get, yeah,
you stand up and you're like, what?
Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
I remember you on talk shows at the time you
were pregnant and you fully were like, I'm going to
throw up. Oh, you were like telling the host, like,
I'm going to throw up. Oh, I, and it wasn't
a joke.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
Like I, I remember being on Ellen.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
I had to come on Ellen.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
I was, I literally was saying no to everything. And
then piece by piece, that whole performance, whatever. And they
were like, can you please just do Ellen? They'll let
you look, you can barf right before you go out
and write. And I was like, are you shitting me?
And I was like, fine, whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
So I literally barfed.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
In a trash can, right as I'm walking out, go on, leave, barf.
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
It was just bleh all the time. And then you
have to use your vocal cords. Yeah, which is so fun.
Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
Something's wrong there where like the amenity is you can
barf wherever you want.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
As long as you show up.
Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
We just want to make sure you're comfortable. So you
can barf wherever.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
We can give you, like not when you're pregnant, like
when you're struggling or whatever, like we can pump you
with steroids. I'm like, oh my God, that sounds like
such a good time.
Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Thank you for the band aid.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
So I can be crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Yeah, what?
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
Because like the other thing about that is like, yeah,
maybe your voice will be better, but then you have
to speak in between and you're on like, And those
are horrible for you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Ratchet it up.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
It's only for severe situations.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Yeah. Give me the steroid, but is there someone who
can suck it out of my bloodstream afterwards immediately? Sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:17:40):
How is your hip, by the way?
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Oh, my hip is fine. I'm getting PT. I fell
on it for O'Mary. No problem. It's worth it. Okay.
Let's get me on. I've got something.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
What's your go?
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
Okay. What's yours?
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
I think mine might be controversial, too.
Speaker 1 (01:17:52):
Certified Broadway star. Stop.
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
Stop.
Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Bowen Yang, his I Don't Think So Honey? Well, it
starts now.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
I Don't Think So Honey, gum. Why did we ever
invent the thing in the first place? If it can't
be digested within seven years, why are we putting it
anywhere near our mouths? It's not like corn where it
passes through you, but it was really worth it. It
tasted pretty good. Gum, I don't even know if it's
(01:18:20):
doing anything for the breath. It's certainly, I don't know.
Now I have to learn what xylitol is just because
of this thing that should not exist. It is a
freak of science. It is an anomaly. Anomaly of human invention.
We did not need it. Mints did us just fine.
Breath sprays did us just fine. We don't need this
thing to chew on unless you think, oh, but what
(01:18:42):
about the oral fixation?
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
15 seconds. Suck on a toothpick.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Put anything else in your mouth. Chew on some cud.
It doesn't have to be gum. What is cud? I
don't know. I just kind of made it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:53):
Five seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
Cud.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
It feels like a rural thing. But I don't know.
Gum is no longer necessary. It has been obsolete since
its inception.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
That is one minute and six seconds. Also, a TMJ nightmare.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
TMJ nightmare.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
I can't chew gum. You have TMJ? Yes. Oh, my God.
Not you with jaw tension. This happens.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
Yeah, how much I move my mouth.
Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
Are you fucking kidding me? Never shut up. No, it happens.
It hasn't happened in a while. But I.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
have been singing on stage, and my jaw will lock,
and you'll see me look down, and I have to
release it that way, or it'll get stuck.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
Oh, no.
Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
Horrible for a singer.
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
It's really bad.
Speaker 1 (01:19:36):
I know. Damn. What do we do? I have a
big overbite, too. Yeah, I have a, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
I've got an underbite.
Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
You do?
Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
It's just not totally, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
It's not an underbite.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
It's not like full-on underbite, but it's getting there.
Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
I had like a, yeah, you can... Yeah. Get this.
Went to the dentist the other day. They go, veneers. No.
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
Me too.
Speaker 1 (01:19:59):
And I go, I don't know. Chocolate teeth? I don't know.
But then they started to, it was like that situation
where like. Did they try and convince you that it's
different now? They're like, it's different now. She tried to
convince me that she was the one who, only I
can fix it. She said, she said, I, this is
what I do. I do veneers, not like everyone else,
(01:20:21):
not like other girls. And I was very like, okay.
And then I went back and I was like, maybe
I'll just do Invisalign.
Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Neither of you, unless there's like an underlying issue, neither
of you, please don't get, you don't need it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
No, well, the reason is they were, because I love
tea and coffee. Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Oh, sure.
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
And I have very porous teeth.
Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Ah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:40):
So she was like, well, and she was like, if
you're wanting, I was like, well, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
I didn't ask for, I'll just take what they are. Like,
that's fine. Yeah, this is good with me. I'm doing
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
And I don't like to mess with like anything nose
or mouth or anything near my core, anything related that
might interfere.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
Because I have interviewed people that have had veneers and
there's a slight lisp sometimes.
Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
Not all the time, but sometimes. And I'm like, uh-oh.
You ever interview someone... before and after they've had a
lot of work and you're like, oh my God.
Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
Oh my God. And you have to stare directly at
their eyes and make sure nothing goes anywhere. You can't
look anywhere else.
Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
You know what's worse.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Though is when women would come on and I'm like,
I am like one of those people where I'm like,
you should wear what you want to wear, be free,
like whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
My kids are like embarrassed of me.
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
I could live.
Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
Naked and be fine. Like, I'm like, I don't do that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
Nobody take my children away. I'm like, just like around
the house naked.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
But like, I'm very comfortable in my skin.
Speaker 1 (01:21:34):
So I'm like, I am down. Like, whatever everybody wants
to be. But, When you sit.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
Down for an interview and your ta-tas are just out,
it's hard not to look.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
Oh, please.
Speaker 1 (01:21:44):
We're boob gays.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
It's hard not to look.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
We're noted boob gays.
Speaker 2 (01:21:47):
Yeah, I'm not even like checking you out, but it's
just like, well, they're on display and they look nice.
Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
You glance.
Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
And unless you're Dolly who loved it when people clocked
her boobs, like it's tough. You don't know where people
are at with their breasts.
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
I know, and I'm like, oh my God, I'm so sorry.
It's just like, but they're there and they're out.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
And it's not my fault. It's like the line, my
eyes are up here. It's like, well, your boobs are
also out right there.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
They're right there.
Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
And they look great. You know, congratulations.
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
But I try to not, but yeah, when you're interviewed,
you're like, okay, don't look anywhere else but the eyeballs.
Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
You know what I'm saying? Like, don't, yes, I had
a hard time with that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
It's tough for the ADHD girls like us. We just
want to, you know, I'm sorry. I just looked at yours.
I'm so sorry. Did you bring your phone? Stop, Kelly.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
Okay, are you ready for your I Don't Think So Honey?
Speaker 3 (01:22:38):
Oh, shoot. Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
So this is Kelly Clarkson's I Don't Think So Honey.
Her time starts now. Controversial. I don't care. Here's the thing.
I love AI.
Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
There are very amazing things with AI that I am
obsessed with.
Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
But also.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
And I'm very into it artistically too. I have fun
with it just like everybody else does. But when you
see AI artists competing on a chart with humans, I
have an issue. I think there should be a separate chart.
I think it's welcome. I think it's welcome to the table.
I think it's really cool and creative what we're going
to create with AI and musically and people that maybe
can't do certain things will be able to do it now.
(01:23:13):
And then you'll get to, I think it's a fun
field like to play in. But I don't think that
they should be competing with humans. Like it's like basically like,
having Olympics and then you're having like people that like
robots can be like humans.
Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
Like, well, who's going to throw further?
Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
Oh, I wonder.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
So I think it's, I'm down with it. And I
think it's a very interesting thing. And what we're going
to do with it is going to be fun, but
I do not think they should be competing.
Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
And that's one minute.
Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
I didn't know they were on the same charts.
Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
Apparently they are. Wow. They actually, did you see that
crazy interview that CNN did with Tilly Norwood?
Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
She started speaking Cantonese in the middle.
Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
What do you mean? So they interviewed a real person. No,
it's an AI actress who basically like CNN interviewed as
if she was real. This was absurd. And they basically
were like, Tilly, like, do you have dreams of being
nominated for an Oscar? And then, She said something like,
Do you have dreams? You could have stopped there. Then
(01:24:11):
she goes, they were asking her, what do you think
when someone says something like, you're not a real actress
or something? And she goes, well, yeah, that stung a bit.
I'm like, you're not real. It didn't sting. But isn't
it kind of fun to watch? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
It's crazy to watch because you didn't see this part,
did you?
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
Which part?
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
She started speaking Cantonese in the middle of the interview
out of nowhere. And then Piers Morgan and this other
guy are both like, Tilly, you just started speaking Chinese
out of nowhere. What happened? And she goes, Sorry about that.
It happens sometimes with me. And you're like, this is
a joke.
Speaker 1 (01:24:53):
The fact that you called it out, it stung a bit.
It stung a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
Here's the thing, though. It's not going anywhere. No.
Speaker 1 (01:25:02):
That's the thing. It's not going anywhere, but.
Speaker 2 (01:25:05):
I just think it shouldn't. I think it is interesting,
and there's so many amazing scientific things that are happening.
I don't think it's going anywhere, but I think that
you have to be able to differentiate... Between, we can't
lose human. You can't lose what that is.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
And there will always be an appetite for that. But
there can be.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
An appetite for both is what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
I just didn't realize that we're both on the same chart,
which is, that is crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Now I feel like, I didn't, I feel like somebody
just showed me that.
Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
No, no, I'm sure you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
I feel like somebody, yeah. And I was like, okay,
I don't mind them being on chart, but I feel
like there should be separate ones.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
Cause that's not. Well, listen, it's not a human. It
shouldn't come at the expense of a human achievement. You
know what I mean? Because to chart as an artist
is a huge deal.
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:25:52):
When you see that you are some, even to take
one spot on a chart away from a human artist
that can, you know, my concerns with it are broadly safety,
Which now, because now they're saying things like, you know, we, like,
even the AI, like, heads of these companies are like,
we need to be regulated. Like, just letting everyone know
we do need to be regulated. Oh, yeah. And the government, obviously,
(01:26:14):
you know, Trump is not going to regulate it because
he wants to beat China.
Speaker 3 (01:26:17):
He created something yesterday or today. He was like, all right, maybe. But, yeah, anyway.
The race.
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
The race might get us in trouble, yeah. And then also, like,
I do think in terms of human artistic freedom, I don't,
I think it's really important that we separate.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Because there's also a level of it though, too, that
humans are using it to create as well. So that's
why I'm not against, I don't want to, I don't
want to be like, oh, I'm hardcore against it. I'm
just hardcore against it replacing. I think that there needs
to be, both can, I think both can exist. I
think everybody's so like black and white about it. And
it's like, or both can be creative in a completely
(01:26:58):
different way.
Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
You know?
Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Well, I mean, and the fact is, This is another
part of it, which is the fact that they've been
using it for a long, a much longer time than
I think.
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
I mean, even if you want to include people using autotune,
like that's not, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
That's altering it. You know what I'm saying? Like it's
been going on for a minute.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
I think people tend to separate it as like, oh, well,
there's like data center sort of like usage and it
is like. completely recursive where it's just amassing all of
these different artistic outputs from, like, history. And that's, like,
the main difference. But sure, it's, like, it is this
thing where it's, like, well, then, like, where do you
draw the line? But, yeah, I mean, that is... I
(01:27:39):
guess I tend to... I've switched over to Apple Music
because I feel like Spotify does sort of, like, try
to sneak in the AI stuff in their algorithms. And I'm, like,
I'm good on that. And so... But it just... It
is weird that it's, like, all in the same... That's
the only thing for me.
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
Yeah, I did.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
It's all.
Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
I think all of it can be creative, but it's
just like, you have to have, like you said, the
regulation of respect and also room. There's room for everything
and you can't lose the human element. I think that
would be a shame.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
Absolutely. Well, it would be the death of, if we
lose the human element of it, it's like.
Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
Well, then the robots won. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
But then again, I mean, there are those, I don't,
I should leave that alone.
Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
No, you, you beat the robots by singing golden.
Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
No, I just mean that, but there is that thing
that you said it's been happening for a while. There
are those artists you see live and you're like.
Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
This doesn't sound like the record. Oh, you are the
Tilly Norwood of music. It's like, it's like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
Yeah. No.
Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
I mean, I think I'll tell you, but once again, though, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Like, it's how you consider the art. It's like, are
you looking at it as a vocalist?
Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
Are you looking at it as.
Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
An artistic thing? Like, you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
Or are you looking at it, like, how are you,
you know?
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Sure.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
That's where I'm like, um, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:28:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
Well, we solved it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:53):
We solved it.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
You're welcome. From now on, it's separate.
Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
It should be separate.
Speaker 3 (01:28:59):
Um, well.
Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Is there anything you want to tell us about, like,
I don't know, when new music could come or, like,
what's the deal? We're working on it right now.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
But, yeah, like I said, there's kind of three different
things going on right now.
Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
You're throwing us off the scent by saying there's three
different things.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
Well, you didn't really talk about the third thing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
Well, so we're coming up on 25 years.
Speaker 1 (01:29:22):
Which is interesting. It's so interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
And then there's something that the fans have been waiting
for for years.
Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
That is maybe in the works.
Speaker 3 (01:29:32):
That's interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:29:33):
And then there's like, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
Telling you what, like it's in the pop realm, but
it's very different from anything I've ever vocally done that
we're working on for another single.
Speaker 1 (01:29:48):
Because it's quiet.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
It's... Yeah, it's not only just quiet, it's more like
if you were... like, you know, having a conversation with
someone on the phone. It's like more like, it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
It's just different.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
It's a different approach where I was like, do I
love this? Like, this is not my vibe generally, but, and.
Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
And now you have so much time to explore things
like that.
Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
And that's the thing too. We're playing, you know, and
that's why whenever people are like, oh, you're playing stagecoach,
you're going country. And I'm like, I'm never going to
just go one way. Cause I remember actually, whenever I
did release a country single years ago and Vince Gill
was cool enough to be on, it's called don't rush. And,
But I pretty much was told to my face by
the people that are at the stations. They're like, unless
(01:30:34):
you quit pop music, we're not going to play you
on country.
Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
They're so brutal to women.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
And I was just like, oh, well, I'm not going to.
If somebody told me to never sing country music because
I'm pop, I would never do that either. I was like,
I'm never going to just like. Like, I don't want
to be limited.
Speaker 1 (01:30:50):
That's boring.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
We get one life.
Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Like, I want to do whatever I want to do.
In the words of Miley Cyrus, you can't be tamed.
Can't be tamed.
Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
Can't be tamed.
Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
She has a new song. The whole album.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:30:59):
The bass persuades.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
I have only heard the one song. Is it all
out yet, or did you get it?
Speaker 3 (01:31:03):
It's about to. The kids don't want to dance. The
kids don't want to dance.
Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
I think it's coming out soon.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
The album is out.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
Oh, it's out.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
Are y'all seeing any live shows? I'm seeing Ray LaMontagne
and Harry Styles coming out.
Speaker 3 (01:31:14):
Oh, my God. Justin Harry Styles. You did?
Speaker 1 (01:31:16):
So good. I'm going in October. He is so, you
just watch him and you're like. I love him. You
just sit there and wave. You know what I just
saw that you would have loved and you would have loved?
The Daisy Chain Fields Festival that Olivia Rodrigo did. No,
I didn't know about that either. It was like Lilith
Fair came back. Oh. So she did a whole festival.
She programmed a whole festival. She had Dochi, Chapel Roan.
(01:31:36):
Olivia came out and she brought out Sarah McLachlan.
Speaker 3 (01:31:40):
And Alanis Morissette.
Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
Alanis Morissette and Stevie Nicks.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Well, she was like, I'm just going to bring out
every goddess that's ever influenced us.
Speaker 1 (01:31:49):
Have you listened to her album? You Seem Pretty Sad
for a Girl So in Love. Are you talking about Olivia's?
Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:31:54):
Oh, yeah. I know.
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
I like my.
Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
Actually, both my kids. Not just my daughter. Yeah, my
kids and I love her.
Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
She's... Yeah. Fabulous album. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
They're showing us that you have to go.
Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:32:05):
So we... Love you. We thank you so much for coming.
Speaker 3 (01:32:08):
Love you. I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:32:08):
This is my one day I'm working. Fabulous. It's my
one day they got me in hair and makeup. Oh,
my God. And it was fun. I know. I could
talk to y'all forever.
Speaker 3 (01:32:16):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:32:16):
Thank you for having me. Well, you always welcome back. Honestly,
that mug.
Speaker 3 (01:32:19):
I know.
Speaker 1 (01:32:19):

such a good singer I'm an actor and rapper like all.
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
The things she said how do you at Thanksgiving right What?
She was at Thanksgiving, Queen Latifah.
Speaker 1 (01:32:50):
Latifah?
Speaker 3 (01:32:51):
At the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
Oh, I don't know that she said hi to me.
Speaker 3 (01:32:54):
Oh my God.
Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
We met years ago at a press junket for The
Secret Life of Bees.
Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
I thought for a minute that you had Thanksgiving with
her and forgot.
Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
Did you say hi to her at Thanksgiving dinner? What?
I was like, Latifah. That seems like something you would remember.
Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
Of course. Latifah.
Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
I just call her Dana.
Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
Dana. okay well in honor of her U-N-I-T-Y in.
Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
Honor of her we end every episode with a song
oh my god when you're good to mama mama's good
to you.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
I'm going to try and harmonize with that. Ah, yes!
Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
She does great at that. And she's the equalizer. I know.
She does it all. She's the great equalizer. Hey everybody,
