Speaker 1 (00:06):
Welcome into the show today. Thank you for making this
podcast a part of your day. We've got a humdinger
for you today. Got a lot of topics to explore,
but I must first start here. There were some Minnesota
Vikings media drama on Tuesday throughout the day. One of
(00:28):
my favorites, the Purple Persuasion on X. They call these
guys aggregators, And what aggregators do is they take content
from other people, whether it's a snippet of a video,
whether it's something that they said, and they post it
to their account and it becomes a news story, basically,
(00:51):
he said.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Ben Gestling of the Star Tribune reported this. They posted
to their account, everybody sees it, Everyone's mind blows. And
the Purple Persuasion on X is one of the best
to do it. One of the best Minnesota Vikings X
accounts there is, because some way, somehow, this guy finds
(01:16):
content from all over the place and puts it all
in one location, which does huge favors for a guy
like me who records.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Podcasts on the Vikings six times a week.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
So what he did is he took a video from
Matthew Caller. I think that's how you say his last name,
and Matthew Caller as a podcaster, and he calls his
podcast the Purple Insider podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I believe I have that right.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I'm confirming now Purple Insider covering Vikings Ebal Insider. And
he posted a video of his content onto x and
the Purple Persuasion took that video, aggregated it posted it
(02:18):
to his own account, and Matthew Kuhler did not like
that one bit. He replied to the Purple Persuasion and
said something along the lines like this. He said, you
do not have permission to post clips from my show.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Please take this down.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
In which the Purple Persuasion Twitter account replied and practically
said no. The Purple Persuasion Twitter account said something along
the lines of basically, you post this online and you
(03:04):
give everybody else.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Free run.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
And this has kind of gone crazy because this has
been something that people in the Minnesota Vikings media market
have responded. Score North, Phil Mackie has responded, Tyler Forneses
has weighed in and has become a big debate throughout.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
The day to day.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
And it's pretty funny because Matthew Color Color whatever his
last name is, is being very sensitive about this topic,
and he's basically saying, you can't post what I post
and share it onto your feed and.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Take credit for it. The problem with his comment.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Towards the Purple Persuasion is that the Purple Persuasion account said, sorry,
matt free use and.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Credited, properly file your complaint with X.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
And then I think Matthew took the complaint and filed
the complaint with X. Okay, the problem with Matthew's frustration
with the Purple Persuasion.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Sure, the Purple.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Persuasion took a video posted it on their X, but
right on the bottom of the tweet says via Purple
Underscore Insider, and then it includes a full link to
that video that Matthew Color put out. So what the
(04:40):
Purple Persuasion Twitter account is doing, which has thousands of followers,
is giving Matthew colors podcast free press to thousands of followers,
and he says, you don't have permission to post clips
from my show.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Please take this down. In Purple Persuasion says.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Sorry, matt free use and credited, properly file your complaint
with X. Said this got everybody into an uproar. Phil
Mackie of Score North had a great point earlier today
because as this debate is going back and forth, people
(05:20):
are weighing in on this, people are weighing in on that,
and man, there's so many different feeds going on this thing,
it's hard to track it all down in one Wow.
Phil Mackie says, I, respectfully, when one hundred percent disagree here, aggregation,
(05:43):
especially when the aggregators give full credit and link below,
is when one hundred percent straight free marketing for content
creators in an industry where attention eages currency, aggregation can
be extremely helpful. Any press in terms of a podcast,
unless there's a guy getting fired and you can't really
(06:05):
get fired from podcasts, is good press, especially when you're
talking about the vikings. And still mckittt was responding to
someone else that was on Matthew's side. Tyler Fornas said
this my number one ask of my audience, please stop
supporting aggregators, and then said give your support to those
in media who are actually putting in the hard work.
(06:28):
This is a prime example of why Twitter aggregators are
predatory and don't really care about those in media. Okay,
I get the complaint, but what Tyler does not recognize
is that deep Purple Persuasion X account is.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Giving appropriate.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Support to Matthew and his podcast, literally says via Purple
Underscore Insider, Now, these complainers about the Purple Persuasion X
account would have something to stand on if all the
(07:09):
Purple Persuasion did was take content, pretended it was his
own and throw it out there.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
For example, someone I work.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
With for the Wild took a picture while he was
working the Minnesota State High School Hockey League game of
the thousands of people in attendance at the Excel Energy Center,
and a bunch of people took that picture posted on
their own mexiccicount and the guy who's dealing to retweets
without any credit to the person that took the picture.
(07:37):
Now there's a fair complaint, But what we see here
is someone just being overly sensitive, and that seems to
be a big trend recently because there's another topic that
I saw a lot of sensitive Vikings fans talking about,
and of course that topic surrounds Aaron Ron and I'm
(08:00):
gonna get there in a second. But what was so
funny about this Matthew color situation and his podcast and
his sensitivity is that another X account that I've seen
in Roman Around's got seventy one thousand followers. Dominie Claire says, NFL, NBA,
Fitness and Motivation, sgg's underscore, HQ content creator. And what
(08:27):
this guy did is he took and checked out matthew
colors X account and found a ton of videos from
Matthew from videos owned by Peacock and NFL and NBC
Sports and posting it to his own X account without
(08:50):
giving proper credit to NBC NFL A picture of the
Simpsons without giving credit to the Simpsons. On January eight,
twenty twenty five, Matthew uploaded an altern image owned by
NBC Sports. The image uses two separate screenshots from the
twenty twenty four Olympics.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
It was used to promote his podcast.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Did he give him permission to alter and use these
two images to promote his podcasts Uh? It's funny because
it points out the hypocrisy in Matthew's sensitivity.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
What's he doing here?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
The Purple Persuasion is appropriately giving credit to him and
his podcast and giving it free press.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
And it doesn't make him look bad whatsoever. He said,
you don't have permission to use this man? Man I'm
sensitive what's going on here, But.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
As far as the Aaron Rodgers sensitivity goes, here's where
I see a lot of other sensitivity among the Minnesota
Vikings fan base. And I just saw it take this
morning that said they exact same thing, and the take
is something like this, would the Minnesota Vikings lose fans
(10:10):
if Aaron Rodgers signed with a team? And this is
the most outrageous, blasphemous take I think.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
I've ever heard. This takes sensitivity to a whole new level.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
So you're telling me that if the Vikings signed Aaron Rodgers,
which looks like it's not going to happen, and they
were going to win their first Super Bowl hypothetically for
the first time in their franchise, you are choosing to
stand on the rock of I'm not cheering for this
team that I've cheered for for forty five to fifty
(10:47):
years of my life. It's that if that's the case,
because Aaron Rodgers, who used to play for the Packers
is now on the Minnesota Vikings, doesn't matter, his stances
on vaccines, doesn't matter, his whatever else that he's done,
his dark out retreats. Since when would you not cheer
(11:11):
for a guy that's going to take your team to
the super Bowl hypothetically. This is the most outrageous, most
sensitive pussy take that I've ever seen, because.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
It's a lie.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
You would still cheer for the Vikings. You would not
give up cheering your team because Aaron Rodgers was on it.
Did you give up cheering the Vikings in two thousand
and nine when the Vikings and five went on that
miraculous run? No, of course not, because that was a
(11:49):
special season and if the Vikings were to some way, somehow.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Sign Aaron Rodgers, quit fooling yourselves. You would still cheer
for the.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Minnesota Vikings and their organization. Quit kidding yourselves. John Bonus,
he goes by at Twins Geek on X, says he's
a Twins fan.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
He's a geek.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
It's kind of sad. A really husband, dad of Minneapolis citizen.
That's his ex description of himself. He posted this on
March fourteenth as a fifty seven year old Vikings fan.
I'd rather risk never seeing my team win a Super
Bowl with the twenty ish years I have left, then
(12:39):
the Vikings. Only then then have the only Vikings championship
be with Aaron Rodgers as my team's quarterback, and kfan
PSD took that and nominated it as a preposterous statement.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
And this is not the only time I've seen.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Things like this, because at Power Trip, bets On X said,
can I get an amen? You are gonna be so
prideful and so egotistical that, regardless of the Vikings winning
a Super Bowl or not, you are not gonna cheer
for them if they signed Aaron Rodgers. What are you
(13:20):
flipping kidding me? That's the hill that you're gonna die on.
Is Aaron Rodgers signing with the Vikings. Wow, you might
be the most sensitive person that I've ever thought of
in my entire life.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
It's just ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
I see stuff like this and one it's a lie,
and two it's sensitive, and three it's bet Shi t crazy.
Oh my gosh when I see this though, this is outrageous.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
It really is. The Vikings made a move today and
they signed.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Cornerback Jeff Akuda, who was the former number three over
all pick and is just twenty six years old, and
he'll add some competition to Minnesota's cornerback room. This is
a classic Vikings decision right here. They get a guy
like a Jeff Akudah. They sign him to a one
(14:16):
year prove it deal. He's twenty six years old. He
signs with the Brian Flores defense, which takes players and
takes them to new levels at new heights, and now
gives the Vikings another option defensively. They've got Vyron Murphy back,
they should have Makaya Blackman coming off as torn acl
(14:38):
They signed Rogers' cornerback from the Eagles, and now they
bring in Jeff A Cudah and maybe Akuda gets cut
in camp, but maybe he doesn't. The Vikings signed Stefan
Gilmour Shack Griffin to a one year proven deal, and
now the Vikings are signing clearly towned Jeff Akudah to
a one year contract, and a couple of different things
(15:01):
come to my mind when I see this deal.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
It's a classic low.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Risk, big splash opportunity for the Vikings. Jeff Acuda's bounced around.
He played for the Lions, he played for the Falcons,
he played for the Texans. Really hasn't found a home
much in the NFL and was really struggled. But he
was drafted as the number three overall pick for a reason,
and he's clearly a talented guy. Just two years ago
(15:30):
for the Lions, he started nine games and played in thirteen.
Three years ago in twenty twenty two, he played in
fifteen games and started fifteen of those games. And you know,
things kind of went wrong for him recently, but the
dude clearly has talent. And the next point that I
wanted to make about this signing is that this is
(15:54):
a classic case, and this is before the NFL Draft
starts in April. You don't know who you're drafting when
you're drafting him, and why the NFL draft is the
most false sense of hope that he could ever get
anywhere in the NFL. So when I see Quesi dominating
(16:14):
NFL free agency, I see a guy that is coming
out and bringing proven players to the Vikings organization, versus
when I see him draft guys like this year, his
last few drafts have just been terrible. Ever since he's
really been with the Vikings, it's just been awful. He's
(16:35):
got a few guys like Addison, but jeffacudah number three
overall pick, twenty six years old, bust. I'm sure when
the Lions drafted Jeffaicuda, they thought he'd be the next
great corner in the league. Lasted three years with the
Lions and then the last two years was on Atlanta
and on Houston.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
He's a great example of.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Crap shoots being all over the end draft number three
overall pick, clearly talented and must have had a good combine,
had a great collegiate career, went to Ohio State, didn't
work out. So when you watched the press conferences done
by general managers and head coaches after the NFL Draft,
(17:20):
remember they're just spitting complete bs because they don't even
know if the player they drafted is going to work
or not. It's a gamble. It's a complete crap shoot.
And you see that every year in the draft. And
that's why it's exciting that Quessi goes out and makes
big splashes on the opposite and defensive line of the
(17:42):
ball this offseason because you're bringing in Will Fries, Ryan Kelly,
Jonathan Hargrave, Jonathan Allen, and these are proven players, the
guys that have been there, done that. The worst thing
the Vikings could do is accumulate like a bunch of
first round picks, second round picks going into this draft
(18:04):
and say you know what, we're grabbing this defensive tackle,
this offensive lineman, and they're going to work when you
really have no idea, man, how many players really pan
out as first round picks thirty to forty if that
in the NFL. So I love the Viking strategy of
(18:28):
going big or going home. They eventually need to hit
some draft picks because you need some guys on rookie
contracts that can come in and play, but as of
right now, they don't need that yet. So their strategy
is to go out and get the big boys in
free agency, and that's really been their strategy for the
last few years. Get on a rookie quarterback contract, get
(18:49):
rid of anyone on a big contract in your quarterback room,
and make it work. And that's what we're seeing. So
we'll see it happens with Jeff Akuda. But that's what
stands out to me, a low risk, high reward decision
on a hungry twenty six year old guy that's really
(19:10):
only played five seasons seasons in the NFL and has
bounced around a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
So we'll see if it works, and we'll see it. Panzel.
Speaker 1 (19:19):

Speaker 2 (19:29):
