Welcome to Murphy, Sam and Jody after the show.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
You know that Phoebe has a play tonight. Don't forget Murph.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's in my calendar.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Yeah, because we're not going together.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I know I'm meeting you, meeting me there. Jody doesn't
let me ride just a passenger anymore. I'm just kidding.
She gets thrown out at the door.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
It's not true. Well, I didn't know she was still
doing that stuff. Oh, yes, this is a part of class.
That's stuff, that's stuff theater.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well, I mean I know she was in the music.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I didn't know she was still continuing the theater. Yeah,
and so this is at the Performing Arts.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Yeah, it's not like a big main stage production with
the whole school.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's just it's one of her classes.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
She has two theater classes this year, and they're doing
a in a it's a small like a black box area,
which is a smaller way to go see something. And
so she they did one performance last night and they're
doing one tonight. So we're going tonight Friday night sort
of a thing. And last night when she got home
was like, tell me about it.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
How was it?

Speaker 2 (00:55):
She was like it was okay, you know for her,
it was just okay this time. I guess she was
a know, frustrated with certain parts.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Of her her performance or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
She's a little self critical of of things like that.
But anyway, what's funny to me is I don't really
know how to I feel like I need to change
my game a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Okay, what do you mean?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
What when they perform when the girl Taylor's not doing
it anymore because she's not doing any theater in college.
But anytime they ever performed, you know, I showed up
with stuff, right, flowers.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Or whatever, yeah, right, you always said.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Something, yeah, And I kind of feel like that's getting
old and tired to them.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And I don't I'm you know, I don't know if
I can.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Some parents do flowers and some parents don't do anything,
don't bring anything, and that's probably okay too, Probably be
okay to show up and just hey, thank you did great,
you know, and give her a hug, flowers. Is that
part of me that that wants to give her something?
But I need to stop being so predictable about it.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
But I know even think, yeah, I don't think that predictability.
Predictability is necessarily a bad thing because it's still a gesture. Yeah,
you don't bring your flowers every day. We don't bring
her candy every day.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Actually, what's funny.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Bringing Phoebe flowers is very different than giving them to Taylor.
In fact, when they would perform together. The funniest thing.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I bought I bought.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I bought two separate bouquets, you know, and they both
got the same, you know, the same whatever a bouquet,
and Taylor's was like thanks and it's like on the floorboard,
kind of forgotten because she wasn't into it then she
would be now. But Phoebe would come home and cut

(02:43):
her flowers at the end and mix the stuff into
the water like they're so they're just different people. It's
really cute. But I'm trying to think of something else
besides flowers so that I'm not predictable tonight. Well, I
mean Thanksgiving bath bombs, yeahmells good.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
That's not a bad idea.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, bath bombs and Sam's answered everything.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, if I want it, then everybody wants right, Yeah, yeah,
I mean, or fancy soaps. I always think those huge
oversized hershey bars are cute.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
That's it. Oh yeah, I love giving those.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I did that once as a Christmas gift, and you
buy the big oversized candy bars and you can buy
every flavor they've got, stack them up and you wrap
them in ribbon. It's easy. You don't have to wrap it.
You just wrap ribbon around and you give it and
it is. That is a good one, and it's not expensive,
not expensive.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
But they also Eminems makes those bars too, Now, those
giant bars.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I know you've got three or four kind.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
I know they have a peanut one, just like they
have a million different flavors of Eminem's. You could do
a bag of Eminem varieties too. So y'all are sparking
my imagination. I can't believe I didn't think of that.
That's a good trick, Murphy.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, I mean, candy is where my brain actually just
went immediately. Although the smell of good stuff is good,
like Sam suggested, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, Anyway, I'm gonna spend a little time this afternoon
picking out something for her for that and i'll know
tonight after I after the show, if I give it
to her, I'll know whether she wants that anymore or not.
I'm telling you, she's different. She's different. In high school,
there's definitely changes going on, and I don't know that
she's gonna want stuff every time she performs, you know,

(04:26):
I just don't know if she's gonna want that going forward.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
She used to really eat it up.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
You need to have the discussion then.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, if you just do it cold turkey, then it's
what's wrong?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
What happened?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Oh if I stop it cold turkey, yeah, yeah, I
would never do that.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I would slowly like phase it out.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Three candy bars, the two candy bars, and Mom.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I've noticed a pattern. Missed any part of the show.
