Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Sam and Jody after the show podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Come along with us on a little business trip. We
are traveling. We are at our destination now for a
couple of days, Phoenix. We're in Phoenix, Arizona, one hundred
and twelve degrees today. Yeah, but wait before we get
to everything that there is to say about this place.

(00:23):
That's fantastic where we are staying for this work conference.
I showed Sam. I opened my suitcase and showed Sam.
I showed you my packing cubes. Murphy. I am in
love with my packing cubes. You were questioning them today
on the show, Sam, like you.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I've never heard of them before.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
By the way, I should say right now, after we
finished with the packing cubes thing, I embarrassed myself on
the plane ride. But we'll get to that in a minute.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Oh great, okay, Okay, MARVH. So I don't understand you
are an organization person, Sam, I would think packing cubes
would make your I thought you'd be.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Like wow looking at him. I looked at him online
and I looked at him in your suitcase. And it's
just a little extra for me?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Is it really.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
One second longer?

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Okay? You know how organized. I am.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
You are one of the most organized people I know.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
I can do that.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Oh okay, that is going to screw up my organization
in my suitcase.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Okay, that's how psycho packer you are.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah. And I even thought about it when we got
here because I was unpacking and I remember you and
our friend Jeremy were saying, yeah, you just take them out.
You put him in the drawer, and it's like I
took my clothes out and put him in the drawer,
and it's like.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You don't need it, that's just going to mass I
still think that you should try it once because it's
a way of compartments.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
It's packing to pack.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yeah. Well, you know what, maybe the difference is because
we're literally this is a quick turnaround. We're not here
for long. We'll be back home before. Yeah, so if
you have a week that you're packing for, maybe maybe
it's better because you're really keeping all that organized. I mean,
for me, even if I stack everything in my suitcase, correct,
you're trying to manage all of it right exactly, so

(02:04):
things are going to be on top of each other,
things blend and all that kind of stuff. I see
what you're saying. It's it's like it's more stuff to
keep track of. I'm about it. I actually believe it
or not. I'm actually going to go online and shop
for some because I.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Believe it or not. Of course I believe it. A
friend I just mentioned j Jeremy, he wanted to bet
five bucks that Murphy would go buy.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I'll bet you five hundred bucks. When Murphy hears of
something good that can make his life better, he buys it. Period.
That's what makes him hard to buy for. Well, like
a gift for gifts.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Okay, well you know what then I won't. I'll let
you pick it out, Jody.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Oh no, your birthdays coming up in July.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
So's Jody's modular? What do you call these things? I
guess I need to remember the name first.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Before little containers like little mess off sided.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Well, so Jody's is actually come in handy from me
and it wasn't even expecting this. So, you know, when
we travel, since I'm Type one diabetic and I carry
you know, all my supplies and things, there are you know,
needles and things, and I'm not going to throw in
a trash can just because you know, when somebody get
hurt or whatever. So I always keep those and I
literally travel back with and they stay in the security

(03:10):
or the safety of my which.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Is why you always get pulled aside at airport security.
This man's got a bunch of needles, huge needles, exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
So, but I usually will. I just forgot like a
big ziplock bag this time, so Jody thankfully. You know,
it was removing all of her intimates, not off her body,
I mean from the from Okay packing cube.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I had my delicate things in a small packing cube.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yeah, and she said, well, look, use this packing cube
if you want. I'm like, you know what another reason
I need to buy a packing cube set.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Well, you need to give me mine back once you
get your needles out of it.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
When I find these goofy things on TikTok or Instagram,
and I even tell myself you don't need that, I
still buy it. So I can't with this.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I'm not trying to force it.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I really try. Okay, there's got to be a reason
you need these, think real hard, and I've tried, and
I've tried, and it's like.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I'm not trying to force it on you. I just
thought you would like it.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I'm surprised, literally when I show up in a hotel room,
first thing I do is unzip the suitcase, put everything away.
And because of the way I pack, it's it's just organized.
It's just you know exactly where everything goes.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Here's I really want to get to where we're saying
and how beautiful this place is. But one last thing
for me, when I open a suitcase, before packing cubes
were a part of my life and I only just
started using them. I'm opening it and there are ten
shirts and four pairs of jeans and two skirts, and
you know, it's a lot to look at. And yeah,

(04:41):
you can just move it quickly to the drawers or whatever,
but it's a lot. So now when I open it,
zip and it's like all of my pants are in
one cube and all of my tops are in another cube,
and all of my intimates are in another little cube.
And it looks it just seems simplistic. It's it's nicer
for me. It's all. It's like opening a drawer at

(05:04):
home where there are separators and things are organized. It's
what that's like for me. That's why I like it.
That is all you know.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
So do you want to know how I embarrass myself?
Royally on the day. And I'm surprised Sam, you didn't
call me out on this because you were you were
in the same situation that I was in. We didn't
get on a flight and you select your seat in
this case, so we were flying southwest, so you know,
you get in there for all you get, right, you
got you see, Well, you know, Sam loves to sit

(05:34):
in the exit row because you're six foot ten.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
The seven thirty seven's have that one seat that's the
seat in front of it's missing, right, so I can
just stretch out right exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
And so a seven thirty seven is basically three seats
the aisle and another three seats. Jody, you love to
fly in the on the window side.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
I love the window seat, and I like to fly on.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
The aisle side, and so that would leave a seat.
But you know, between us, you know which you know,
there a moment where I guess that works in our favor, right, yeah,
you think, But anyway, I decided that for the first time, Okay,
I want the leg room. This is a longer flight.
I'm gonna go sit back by. Sam.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
You're trying to sell me on the leg room. You
want to move with me and have all the leg room.
I'm like, no, I'm good. Please, you don't want me
in an emergency situation.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Actually, I would prefer you in an emergency situation. Believe
it or not, there are freaks. Didn't that happen in
the news recently where there was some guy who was
threatening to open the You know that's my overactive imagination.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I was in an emergency situation. You don't know how
I would behave all this cool would go away?

Speaker 1 (06:34):
No, you'd be fine. And you know the thing is
you and I are we're partners. So I look those
roses just leg reum.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Nothing's gonna happen right exactly when they come and they
ask you, hey, are you co Yeah, sure, well haven't
had to do it yet. And with six people on
the exit robe, somebody's got it right, Yeah, okay, good y.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I feel safer now it's Sam and the doors and
six people not caring. Okay.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
So here's how I embarrassed myself. Because you know, when
you're sitting in the exit row, the flight attendant will
come and ask each individual. You've got to give a
verbal confirmation that you were physically willing and able to
assist in the event of an emergency, you know, if
it happens important question in the exit row and so
the answer is yes. And then once that's done, the

(07:21):
rest of the flight attendant, you know, prep starts and
the plane takes off. Right. Did you notice what happened
Sam during the during the time where the attendant walked
up and was asking us he would.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Ready to talk to us, and he had to stop. Yes,
and I think he was pointing at your seat.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Yes, he was.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
What did you do?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I was on the phone. Now, in my defense, I'm
I'm a you know me on the phone. I'm a
polite person here, but I've been waiting for a very
very very important call from the doctor's office for two days.
And when I saw it ringing, you know, I'm like, okay,
do I let this go to voicemail? I had better
or not? This is this isn't important. So I answered it,

(08:01):
and naturally that's the time where the flight attendant then
starts to walk up, and so I'm trying to quickly
get off the phone. Okay, thank you, thank you, thank you,
thank you. I appreciate it, and he of course is
like he's he stopped talking. He did, and you know,
so everybody's looking at me.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
He was ready to go, and it was like, well,
he's ready to go, because it's also everyone on the
plane is waiting now for me to get off the phone.
And that is Murphy's law with timing.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yes, you know me, I would never plan anything like that.
And uh so, anyway, got off, and you know he did.
He finished this thing and we took off. But later on,
when we were at a safe altitude for me to
leave the seat, I had to go use the restroom
and he was sitting right up there and I lean
no rest said, look, man, I just want to apologize
to you.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I did.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
I was not trying to hold up anybody out of
all time. That was an important call from my doctor's office.
I told him that I was on a flight. They
needed to communicate that to me now anyway, and so anyway.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
What did he say?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
It was cool with it, And you know what after that,
actually it started a dialogue between me and him because
every time he walked back he actually asked me if
I wanted extra snacks.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
The extra guy. It works in Murphy's favor again.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
And the first time they were bringing you know, drinks around,
I'd already had water until him I didn't need it.
He came back and checked, Hey, do you need you know,
a drink from us? Now I'm like, no, thank you.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Well, how often does he have a passenger apologize to him? Honestly,
that's that's how you won the moment. That's beautiful. It's
a beautiful little story merged anyway.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Sam, I'm sorry, but I just knew we were three
minutes late.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Getting here that Okay, Arizona built Moore My goodness, I
didn't know there was.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
More than one built right by the way. This is
not a commercial. We just understanding here business conference.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Yes, I want to say how cool it is the
historical his the architecture is so so cool because it
was built.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Based on Frank Lloyd Wright, oh in nineteen twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Oh, that's what's so cool, Like the low ceilings and
the really cool groovy like I just feel groovy.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
I was reading up on it. The guy that designed
this place, his last name is MacArthur, comes from a
ramily of architects that do that. But he was a
friend of Frank Lloyd Wright, and he he liked Frank
Lloyd Wright's style, Yes, and so he talked to him.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
And it's like I'm going to build design this place,
like with your inspirations, Like, sure.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Go ahead.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
So cool kind of why it has that look to it.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
What's interesting too, is Sam's had more of an opportunity.
You've had more of an opportunity to kind of walk
around and explore the property.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yeah. I talk to some ducks and some doves and
had fun out there.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yeah, it's gorgeous. It's cool. There's a lot more to
it than we've even seen. And we have meetings here
and we're meeting with some people and doing some work
and stuff. But it's just a really cool place.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
And we're in the shadow of Camelback Mountain.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yes, yeah, with one hundred and twelve degree high to that.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Kay, yeah, I cannot get enough water here. I can
feel my body responding to this out there, So yeah,
that's not the kind of water I mean. But we
will be We'll continue to share a little bit about it.
