But you got moved, right, Yes, it's been one crazy
week for me. Yeah.

Okay, so you moved from your apartment with your same
roommate into is it a townhouse?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, it's a townhouse. Very nice. We finally have her
own cruge moving on up. There's downstairs.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's nice.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
I like it a lot.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Okay, So but the question to us was, hey, do
I move myself again I'm young enough and in shape, or.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Do I pay mover? So what did you guys do? Well,
mainly we actually hired movers, first time doing that. And yes,
the main thing is because when we first moved in together,
you know my family, they have my parents. He has
like a big trailer. We can move all of our
furniture like it's it's an easy move. Yeah. The problem
was he they gave us these gigantic couch and a
love seat. But there's your dad. Yeah, because there my

mom was getting new furniture. I soon you knew I
was moving. She's like this is perfect. There you go.
She's been wanting to redo their time, so she bought
herself new furniture and I got their you know leftovers,
which is still good stuff. Like these couches each have
like reclining the reclining chairs on them. Samon's the love seat.
They rock, but yeah, the relent.

I call them Chandler and Joey chairs exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
So since you know they're the reclining chairs, they have
all this metal underneath and so they're very, very heavy.
And the problem moving in them to our upstairs apartment
is that when you go on the stairs just a
little pivot fashion, only two people can do it because
the couch is so big and the stairs so narrow,
Like a third person is just gonna make it even
more problematic. Getting it up there was such a pain,

but we finally got it done, and it was me
and my friend that moved it, and my dad's trying
to help, and I had to like, actually not yell,
but I was like, look, you're doing more harm than
good right now, Like please just step back and like
let the younger people get in there. But it's a
delicate thing to have to say. But oh he's so stubborn.
He wants to do everything on their own. Actually, I
didn't even tell them I moved. They still don't know yet.

Oh maybe they'll listen to the podcast. Maybe because that's
I knew as soon as he found out if I
was moving, he'd be very stubborn and want to come
move it. And I don't want to. Last year my
dad had heart surgery, Like I don't, I don't want

the person that would drive all the way out here

So how did you like having movers? Because man, watching
them work, what they're doing worth it?

That was the big thing in the back of our
head was like is it really worth it? Like worth
the money to pay, like just suck it up and
do it. And we actually got a good, very good
discounted rate. There are really nice people and watching them
struggle with those couches, that's I looked at my roommate.
We both says like completely worth it. Like it got
to the pointhere even one guy he's yelling at me,
he's like, boss man, boss man can you help me

because they were like losing it at one point to
go run and help them get established. Their fingers were slipping,
I guess, but yeah, it wasn't too good. But I'm like,
I can't stress enough of how paying these things are.
My dad even said when we first moved in, he said, look,
when you move out, leave him here. Like I'm not
like he's not moving them against, like just leave him here.
Whoever moves in next can have them.

Of all the things, the services in this life that
you can pay for, moving might be one that's.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
The most worth it. Oh so well, it's it.

Because nobody has ever moved themselves and thought that was easy.

The entire time eating up to it, I kept thinking
like is it worth it? Like am I just being lazy?
Should just do it? But no, Yeah, so worth it.
I love the text you sent me while you were moving. Yeah,
because they were struggling doing really working really hard, and
I had to text Jody because I knew they needed
some type of tip, but I was like, how much
you see a tip of mover? That's just so immediately
texted Jody's like, do.

You know I didn't remember for sure about I googled
it and if they move you for a few hours,
twenty five to fifty bucks per mover.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Well, yeah, we tipped them forty per mover, mainly because
what we hired them for. We want to do the
you know, the cheapest route we can. So we're like,
let's just do the things we absolutely can't move ourselves,
so the couches and like our beds and mattresses things
like that.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
But you is it like three hours minimum or something
like that. Sometimes I mean.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
No, not them. They guaranteed they get U sent, get
it done within two hours, but they adjust as needed.
But sure they understood our situation. And when the two
guys showed up, they looked at all like our coffee
table and like things that are big and heavy, but
we could fit in the car and they were getting done.
They're like, we can move the rest of this, and
like kind of hinted, you know, if you if you
hook us up here, and they're like, okay, sure tip us.
(04:10):
That's all. I was like, that's all it takets you Like,
how much should I tip them? And so when you
gave me that answer, I was like, all right, forty
each well worth it, And they moved pretty much everything
all to get is like our clothes and belongings.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
But you know, did they wrap your furniture and that
like furniture sized saran wrap?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yep, everything is all wrapped up and all get placed
in the house and there you coolffee tables, other chairs
we have and yeah, other big bulky things that we
couldn't hal our dressers and stuff. So all moved in.
Easiest thing worth every penny.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I'll throw you something else out here for anybody who moves.
If you have a big house to house family move
when Murphy the last time Murphy and I moved, we
did have movers. It was a big day long event.
We did tip them. I also surprised them with lunch.
I went and picked up burgers and fries for everybody.

And it was so funny because the younger guys, they
were like so excited about that and they stopped and
ate that food like it was their job. And then
the head of the crew we had three or four.
The head of the crew was like thank you, and
he didn't touch it, and I'm like, how can you
not eat? We had stuff being moved upstairs to Murphy's

man cave. Heavy stuff in his man cave you know.
But I then found out later but he had he
was mister Paleo. He was on a p diet. It
was not about to be eating fries and burger buns.
But yeah, we had him up with some fast food.

Is that something you should check with him? Then, while
they're in the process of moving, Hey, guys, I'm gonna
treat you out to lunch. Is there any special dietary needs?
Hearing it coming out of my mouth, never mind.

Yeah, I mean a bunch of moving dudes. I thought
burgers and fries and mostly it was a hit. Yeah, anyway,
so yeah, I think it's one of those things that's
the top three worth your money.
