Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Choty Weekend Show podcast, highlighting
some of our favorite moments from this past week.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
You saw that the National Park Service decided and announced
not to euthanize that bison that tossed that grandfather mister
McDaniel into the air.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yes, one of the fault though the bison, because somebody
honked a horn.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Someone honked, and they say that at certain times of
the year, animals wild animals, males are even more aggressive,
and they think that could have happened in this case too.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
The bison.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
I guess the criteria would be is if they're really
a continued danger to others, that's part of the decision.
But this was so random. Yeah, and he was the
distance he should have been.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
According to the National Park Service, all animals require a
distance of seventy five feet to one hundred and fifty
feet in National parks.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
You need to know to stay back.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Ironically, the number one reason that people have problems with
animals in the Grand Canyon is squirrel bites.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Yeah, I guess the squads are aggressed of their Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Well they mister McDaniel was far enough away. He was
taking on feet away, so he was, well, you know,
outside of that recommendation, does it safer squirrels?
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Having dug it to the squirrel stuff, I did look into.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
We did look into for you, black bears and brown
bears in national parks. Look, the first time I was ever,
I was a child in the Smoky Mountains with my
dad and my family and there was.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
A black bear and my dad was so excited to
see it.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
He walked to it. He went to it. Oh yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Not a good idea when you and I have done
that with our daughters Taylor and Phoebe walk to bears.
We've never walked to them. We've driven by and we've
seen them, but we've never Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
I know it's a person like me.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I don't know if mister McDaniel felt this way, but
I'm in awe of seeing something wild that up close.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I think a lot of people are, and we humanized animals.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah, they're not, they're wild.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
So here's what to know for black bears, well, bears
in general, keep your distance and if they if they
see you, they're most likely going to want to go
away from you. Speak calmly, let them know you're a human,
not a prey animal. If they hear you. They know
that's sort of foreign speak English.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yeah, I am not a prey animal.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Don't run. It triggers their instinct to chase you.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Show them your license.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
SOMMA for black bears, don't play dead.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Make yourself look big.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Okay for brown bears. Like grizzlies, you're supposed to play dead.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I mean, good luck, cover your ever get that.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
I mean, grizzlies are dangerous anyway, There's nothing to at.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
The grizzly at the end of the day.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Just keep your distance right.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Follow the National Park Services recommendation.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Jody's Top five entertainment stories of the Week, Number five.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
It's been ten years.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
It was July of twenty sixteen when we first got
Stranger Things. So Netflix and the Duffer Brothers teamed up
for a special little thing. You can go look at
it now on Netflix and just online for their tenth anniversary.
A lot of the cast members came back separately, sat
down on the sofa in you know that house with
the lights strung up behind, and looked at old polaroids
(03:05):
of them on the set in like the first season.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
All of these made me so happy.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Come on, let's look at these David Harper, Millie Bobby Brown,
Finn Wolfford, like Maya Hawk, Winona Ryder, all those names.
You can go back and watch that and sort of
relive it with them.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Number four this weekend at.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
The box office.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's the big one, a big one from Christopher Nolan
and I guess Homer The Odyssey.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
I'm no longer sure I even remember it. That is
why mortals are strong.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Matt Damon is Odysseus, okay, and it's huge.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
It's a huge cast.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Uh. Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Tom holl Zendeia Lupita Nyongo,
Charlie Starroon is in this movie. Of course, it took
him forever to make it. I just want you to
know it's righted r two hours fifty two minutes for
The Odyssey.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Wow, that's a bit long, huh for you?
Speaker 4 (03:59):
It isn't at and that's exactly what it is.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Number three, Friday the thirteenth is getting a prequel and
it looks really good and it's coming to Peacock and
it's the origin story of Jason, because if you remember
from the first movie, it wasn't really Jason killing all
the teenagers in the Woods. It was his mother played
by Linda Cardalini.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Started when that kid drowned last summer.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
She goes crazy, loses her mind, he becomes that way.
It's called Crystal Lake. We get it in October of
this year.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Number two.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
This is a big Story Murphy to celebrate its tenth
year anniversary. La La Land is returning to theaters that
I lived on.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
This movie went on to be a major Academy Award winner,
won six that year, Okay, Best Director, Best Original Score,
Best Actress for Emma Stone. And so in August you're
gonna be able to go see it on the big
screen again and sing along and all that good stuff,
and pay attention of the dance numbers because they're incredible.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Number one, don't forget that.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
This weekend is the finale the Faithful World Cup closing
ceremonies in that final match, and we know Jennifer Hudson
is doing the national anthem. We had this big halftime show,
but for the closing ceremony, we also have Tom Cruise.
So everybody thinks he might be you know, repelling down
or diving or who knows what he's going to do.
He's not just going to sit there and wait look
(05:26):
for that. Look for Tom. On Sunday, we were saying
earlier in national parks, so that you don't get like
launched by a bison, which happened this week.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
We all saw it. Sure it doesn't look cool.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Well, I'm glad he's not. I mean, he broke his
leg in three places. I'm just saying with Murphy, it
looked cool. That's why it went by. That's why it
went viral because people are like, whoa.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
You know, you've gone viral.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
I but if you didn't see the launch, but I know,
Sam said, there's already a T shirt for the launch.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, every news website you go to, it's frozen that
freeze frame of him in the shape of an X.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
You know what too. There's even an AI video of it.
He's chasing the back.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Okay, I don't want to see that all really, Yeah,
nobody needs that.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
We were saying that you have to stay away.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Is it seventy five feet to one hundred and fifty
feet from all wild animals in national parks.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
That's the recommendation.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
And then we touched on the fact that in the
Grand Canyon, the number one animal incident.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Squirrel bites.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Like the Grand Canyon, the most dangerous things there are
mountain lions and rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes is what I was I
was looking for when I was in the.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Grand ca freaky freaking out.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Any reason to worry about scorpions?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
I mean, sure, yeah, and that donkey ride down the ledge.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
They wouldn't let me ride the donkey. I wanted. I
kind of wanted to, kind of didn't want to.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Nakes.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Squirrel bites are number one. The reason being the visitors associate, oh,
cute little squirrel, just like the cute little squirrel. But
those are not cute little squirrels. They associate they're aggressive.
They're living in the wild, and they associate humans who
go through the park as with food because you got
trail mixed and you got all the things they can smell,
(07:13):
and so those rodents associate you with food and they
are aggressive. They are not afraid of you. They don't
duck and run when you come. They see you. They
want your trail mix. People have had run ins with
squirrels a lot, and it is a concern because they
squirrel bites.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
They do have.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Some of them have rabies and things like that.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
I don't want to know.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
So Murphy really doesn't want to go hiking in the rank.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I don't want to.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I don't want to be launched by a bison or
by a squirrel.
Speaker 4 (07:37):
Honestly, Jo, don't he just so you so it's kind
of lame.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Oh yeah, I got to bit by a squirrel at
the Grand Canyon.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
It's not Yeah, I got launched by a bison.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Morning pick me up?
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Time raise your hand if you're an overthinker, I'm laughing
because Sam was gonna go up.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
I wasn't sure if I should raise it or not.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
I think I'm an overthinker.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Also, of course you are, Murphy. Yes, we all are.
That's why we're birds of a feather.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
What's weird is I'm not an overthinker in all things tho,
Like I made an impulse buy on eBay the other day.
You don't even know about it yet, Jody. Yeah, it's
one I really should have thought about and overthought before.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Obey and Amazon. He doesn't overthink.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Yeah, okay, So the word is a lot of us
are Americans are overthinkers. We have a lot of choices
in front of us.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
And we have this perfectionist thing where we think we
have to make the perfect choice too.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Not good.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
So if you would like, and there's a psychiatrist who said, look,
do the rule of three I need you'd like the
rule of three when it comes to decision decisions, narrow
your options to like two or three things. Whether it's
something you're wearing or you know you're going on a
trip and you have one hundred choices, narrow it down
to two or three choices, three choices, and you can
(08:53):
make that decision more quickly. The second part of this
is give yourself a deadline. If it's a small decision
three minute, it's if it's a big decision three months,
three years.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
But give yourself deadlines.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Okay, you like that. I do like that. You know.
I hope it doesn't put too much pressure.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
On me.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
To make a snap decision on eBay.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
And then the final one is limit outside options and opinions.
If it's whether you're to break up with somebody, don't
talk to everybody about it, if you have a couple
of trusted people, or if it's to keep a job
or limit your you know, the outside observation.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Here, you're saying too many choices, mean you you lock up.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, it's too much information, especially if you're already an overthinker.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
That's a really good point to the rule of threes.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
There are three things, and all of them contain three.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
It's lots of sort.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
There are your options to three, like three shirts, three dresses, whatever,
whatever you're trying to choose. Give yourself a deadline three minutes,
three days, three months, whatever it is, just so you
can remember it. And then the three limit outside options
and opinions to three.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Okay, you feel better.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
I feel a lot better.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
What about you, Sam, You're just confused.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I don't know. You know when vacation is over.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Have you?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:19):
I know it hurts.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Have you ever done a like a financial breakdown wrap
up of your vacation, Murphy? Does you do? Well?
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Of course if you call looking at the bill and going,
oh my god, the financial wrap up, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
That's normal, right, yeah, okay, of course I went on.
You know, I just got back from Chicago with my
son Sammy.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Yes, yeah, well it's just like a financial audit. Here
are you figuring out what you're going to make him
pay for it? No?
Speaker 3 (10:44):
No, no food? First, man, we were burning up venmo,
I buy two admissions to this, He'd reimburse me half.
He'd buy two admissions, I'd reimburse.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
It works out. Even money was just.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Going back and forth in my venmo. I was waiting
for a Hey, is this really you? When vacation was over,
Sammy sends me this message.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
With a pie chart, with a pie chart.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
And a complete breakdown of everything he spent on vacation.
Oh wow, and it's like.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
That's him doing it.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Yeah, And I was like, what when I finished vacation,
I just move on to the next. I mean, I'm
not going to go back.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
And look and say it's actually smart to do that.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
It's smart, but you know, usually the budgeting part you
do upfront, right, I mean that's kind of.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
What his money already spent. Yeah, you can look out
and go, oh, we could cut back on air transport.
No you can't. You spend it already.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, you can do the budgeting up front, but we
all know it's usually more expensive than you intended.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
There's a margin of area.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yeah, especially like when you're on a cruise ship and
you're sailing what do you call that thing?
Speaker 3 (11:50):
We go, Yeah, the last day when it hits you
Oh boy. You know how we've talked about vacation eating, like,
you know, you spend on this trip. That's what I did,
vacation eating, but it was also vacation spending. It's like
we'd go somewhere and whatever. Whoa, that's a little expensive
for this admission, but we're vacation.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Let's do it.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
But it's like, I've never broken it down. He's got
a color coded and everything.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
So you are you tempted to copy this?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
And you know, I just brought this thing because I
was like, I got to show this to somebody.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
I love that. So he built a spreadsheet. It's not
like he's using a program like Monarch Money or something
like that.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
No clue what he did. But here's here's the line
that Murphy you're gonna love. If a meal was sixty dollars,
I would mark the first twenty is food and the
rest is vacation.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I was like, it's all food, all it's all vacation.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
And his thinking there was, you know, twenty dollars, that's
about what we'd spend normally, but it's like it's food food.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I love that though he's he that's his it brain
working right there. Isn't that's his I love spreadsheets.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
He does that on the back and not up front.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Work. Pray here.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
So glad to be back after a little summer vacation,
back with all new shows two days starting now.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yeah, so if you got tired of flashing back, because
the good news is here. We are. We're back.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
We're real in the flesh. I know we're going to
get to all of the vacation stories. Sam, you went
on a vacation with your son, and we want to
hear about that. In fact, let's do that in today's
after the show podcast. So we want to hear all
the stories of Chicago. Was it you ate your way
through Chicago?
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I ate some great probably the best pizza I ever had.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Wow, that's saying a lot.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
We'll do that today. I will say this.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
You know, we started our vacation altogether in New York
City and then Sam went, you know, to Chicago with
his son.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
After a Taylor's wedding. I went to Chicago, US too.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, we actually had a work gathering that we had
to do and then gather and then we all went
our ways on vacation.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
So our girls, Taylor and Phoebe joined us.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
You know in New York for those days after the
work was over for us a little vacation, and my
aunt I was so excited about the mess and excited
about being there for America two fifty and all that stuff,
all the things that you get excited about doing and
seeing in New York City. But my I mentioned this
like last week and girl talked Tuesday, was that my
unexpected favorite part, which I had no idea this was
(14:15):
going to happen, just being in the hotel room with them, Murphy,
you know what I'm about.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
To see with their daughter, We don't.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
They don't.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
They don't live with us anymore currently right now, and
so we're not with them very much. And so I
would wake up in the morning, first one awake, look
over Murphy's asleep, look over in the next bed, and
Taylor and Phoebe are asleep, and I would go downstairs
and get coffee and come back up and a tiptoe
around you guys, and everybody would still sleep another hour
or so, and I got to do something that moms
(14:44):
do when your babies are little, and I just watched
them sleep, not not scary.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Like yeah, So when they woke up, they're like.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
No, no, no, no, And I didn't do it creepy. I
would have never stood over them. But it was just
I was sitting there sipping my coffee and I'm looking over.
It just happened by accident because Taylor was on the
side of the bed closest to me, on her bed,
and I.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Was just like, look at her.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
That first morning, I looked over at Phoebe, and Phoebe
was covered up.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
I couldn't see her at all.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
So it was another day before I got to see
Phoebe napping, you know, sleeping.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
It was fun to be in the same hotel room together. Wow,
I mean that was just like yeah, I mean I
was worried about us all clamoring for the bathroom or whatever,
but it made it extra special being there together, waking up,
going to sleep every Now, it was awesome.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
And you gotta know, kids, no matter how old you are,
if you're asleep and your mother's around, and take that in,
it is beautiful.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
I Cross the Balls has a challenger. Now some surprise,
it's taken this long, but it's Welches.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Oh well, that's a big name. Jelly fevile.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, well, let's see how it tastes. Whichause can it
be that different? It's peanut butter or jelly?
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, no kidding, Well, but I mean everybody, you've got
a bunch of different successes, full labels that make both No, wait,
so uncrustables are there? Smuckers is that is that makes?
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (16:06):
And Smuckers owns Jeff. So I don't know if that's
Jeff peanut butter in there or not. But Welch's okay,
they're going square. First of all, they're not round, they don't. Yeah,
but it says on their fifty percent bigger than the
leading brand.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Heart shape one.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Well you could do that. They have concord grape strawberry
jam and then they mixed berry and right now they're
only going to Walmart. After they land at Walmart, then
they'll go to everybody.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
And also price point shoppers are going to check price Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Oh yeah period.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Totino's, we have some new pizza rolls. These are called
blasted pizza rolls because they put some extra stuff on
the outside. Nacho boom Farli like palm palm and uh
zesty lemon.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Those all sound good. Pizza all just isn't cutting it
for you. I love extra flavoring on anything. Really.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Coffee Mates got some new creamers, banana bread that sounds.
They got a snicker doodle went out, and also they
have the cold foam that you can spray on top
a toasted marshmallow.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
That sounds delicious.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
And if you're a Harry Potter fan, they are bringing
back cauldron Cake, which it's funny because it's his cauldron cake,
but up top it says toffee for you know, the Muggles.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
And then there's a new one called Chocolate Frog, which
up top it says hazelnut chocolate.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Very good cheese stores right now.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Popeyes bringing back their cheese bites. I want to say
they're like cheese curds with their fried the cheese bites,
the more calories. Yeah, white cheddar garlice crust, the side
of marinara.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
I mean that's really what mozzrella sticks are. It's just
there's are they cut them small nuggets? Yeah right, yeah,
what a deal.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
And Olive Gardens bringing back It's Unlimited Pasta pass one
hundred dollars. You get three months of unlimited pasta. They're
going to go on sale in August, and if you
if you go every day all ninety days, it works
out to like just over a dollar a meal.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Oh, but that's a lot of postat it is.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
It's keep the Wild Wednesday, which is just about you
celebrating your victories, you know, no matter how small or
how big, celebrate it in your mind because the world
doesn't know how hard it is for you to do
the things that you do.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
So I'm going to count this as a wow.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Kelly sent us an email to Murphysamon Jody dot com.
I think it's because we had touched on right before
we went on vacation about the Star Wars auction and
all that kind of stuff going for gazillions of dollars,
you know, somebody wanting a new lightsaber, the original you
know stuff.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Oh oh, that was one of the trading cards one
you're coming.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
No, no, that there there was an actual auction that
was happening this summer. Now the trading card thing is
Sam sent off trading cards and you haven't heard back yet.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
Whether you're going to be rich or not.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Well I'm not going to be rich, but yeah.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Okay, Kelly sent this.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
In high school and college, my friend was a night
security guard at Industrial Light and Magic in Marin County, California. Ooh,
I spent nights and summers hanging out. Even went to
George Lucas's staff party. Back then in the nineteen eighties.
We didn't take picks because it wasn't a huge deal.
I remember drinking a soda, sitting on land speeders, Oh cool,
(19:26):
hanging with C three po, marveling at models and backdrops.
It was just part of my norm. This goes on
to read the friends were more important. They're just hanging
around all this stuffy. She had no idea, right, She said,
Marin was unique, a mini world of famous people and things.
I bet right, If you grow up around that, it's
(19:48):
not special to you. It's just every day. You know,
whatever you give your kids, whatever life they have, that's what's.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Normal to them.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
So she grew up it was normal to go hang
out at those warehouses, said it was a mini world
of famous people and things.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
I wasn't. But if I could just have the.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Trash from that facility now Oki parts of land speeders,
discarded artworks, They threw away props that were sitting around
in rolling bins. She said, great memories and she wanted
to send us that. So, Kelly, Kelly, thank you.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
What a cool experience.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Wow and Industrial Art and magic. If you don't know,
it's the company that George Lucas created because nobody could
do those kind of special effects, so he made the
company that could do the special effects for his movies.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
And here's a nerd question.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Is that still Oh yeah, if you look at all
the weird the CGIs and maybe even the.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Marvel movies, it's now still still industrial fantastic.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Thank you, Kelly.
Speaker 2 (20:42):

That way you can see pieces and parts of everything
and our YouTube channel.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I went to Chicago with my son Sammy, and for
about a week and a half now I've been dying
to show Murphy a picture that we oh, okay, because
I know what's gonna happen to his palms right now.
We went up in the Sears Tower, which is now
called the Willis Tower. Oh you did what.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
You said you weren't gonna do?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Ohy did?
Speaker 4 (21:25):
I really I'm surprised.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
I know, but it was just like, what are you
gonna do? What are you gonna do? We're here, do
it nice?
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Good for you.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
And when you go up to the hundred and third
floor thirteen hundred feet by the way, Murphy, you can
look out and see everything. It's just really amazing.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Broad taking that you can see.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
I think they said four stage. You can see Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan.
And then they have this thing called the ledge. Well
there's like four windows and it's about it juts out
about three feet. It's all like a glass box around you. No,
and you step up out on the ledge, which means
can you see over the ledge straight down to one
hundred and three stories?
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Are you okay Murphy at this moment, Actually my heart's
raising a little.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
When we got there, it was like, okay, i'll do it,
I'll do it whatever. But as soon as it's your
turn to put your feet out on the ledge. There
is something mentally that goes, don't do this. This is stupid.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
You know me, whenever I take pictures, it's like, hey,
funny face, let's do I'll just get out here, take
my picture, let me get off. I was breathing, but
it was just like I didn't want to fool around.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yeah, I don't blame you.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Well, you know what that is.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
That's smart.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Let's see the picture.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
This is the picture that they take one hundred and
three stories up.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
I love that sair. Oh my gosh, you're smiling. You're
faking it.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Well, yeah, that was like, we're going to take one picture.
They take one and it's like.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
You're in there. It's like you're just suspended in the air.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
So you're literally you're standing on a piece of glass.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah, and I tell you it's three half inch pieces
of glass. So it's like, so that's only an inch
and a half. What are you bragging about.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Dude, give me more.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Yeah. And they had people that were jumping on them.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Oh no, I'm surprised you did it.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Good for you though. It's a great picture. That should
be your Christmas card.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
You know, when you live with somebody, or you're with
them a lot, real spouse, work, spouse, whatever it may be.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
You know their little nuances.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
You know things about you know things about them that
they don't even realize.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
When you're around somebody that long, whether it's at home
or at work, you learn your patterns, especially when something
is often something changes. You're like, well, well.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
I'm talking about patterns. I'm talking about nuances. For instance,
I'm talking about you, Murphy, so this Sam, I know
you were just glad I wasn't talking about you. But
Murphy and our Mary married a long time. It took
me a long time to understand your facial expressions. When
Murphy's thinking about something, he can look really intense. Yeah,
(23:58):
he's just thinking about how to solve a problem or
how to get to his appointment on time.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
When I'm in thought, my face goes intense.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Yeah. And there's times when we're talking to you and
it's like he's thinking so well, almost like you're just like, oh.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You can tell a freezing can not tell you how
many times I've misread you.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
I'm like, what are you upset about? And You're like,
I'm not upset.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
I'm just trying to figure out how to get to
the you know, my appointment today, because what do you
you know?
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Because when you get deep in thought, you were your fate.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
You're so expressive. So I finally have learned. Is there
something wrong or is he just trying to figure out
how to get lunch? Fast forward to one of my
favorite moments, which we didn't mention in yesterday's After the
Show podcast from vacation with our Girls. Okay, Murphy was
on our way home. So we were on this flight
on the way home, and it was me the window seat, yay,
(24:43):
Phoebe in the middle, and then Taylor on the aisle,
and then you were on the other aisle on the
end where you want to be. Everybody gets to sit
where they want to, and so you were in your
own world, in your own head, and Taylor and Phoebe
started cracking up laughing, and I'm like, what's funny? He
goes look at that. I'm like, oh, he's just thinking.
(25:10):
And they were like, we know that you were just
deep and thought about something God.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Only knows and you could tell what you could tell
it in my face planning.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Yeah, yeah, it's the house, Oh Murphy. Wow, Okay, how
so often I misread you for years and years almost
on eggshells around you because when you're thinking, which is
all the time, I used to think that you were
about to real mad news or something.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Okay, wow, well thanks for waiting this long.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
To tell me. Social media connect.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
We hear you.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
We read and see every single thing, comment, email, suggestion
that rolls in, so keep it all coming. You can
also call anytime eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
We have an email from Cynthia. This is about the
collectible red lobster glasses that Murphy's mom used to collect.
You had the lighthouse, and you had I thought I
(26:10):
remember you saying there was a naked lady glass.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
I don't. I don't know why I don't remember that,
but we would have the lighthouse one.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Cynthia said the naked lady was indeed a mermaid on
the red lobster glass. Google guys use the Google and
have a.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Great that's right, as Google.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
We still have the lighthouse. I use it as a
vase when we have a little bunch of flowers.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
So the lighthouse doesn't have the mermaid on it. No,
it's different.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
They're very different. They're very different. Okay.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
This also rolled into Murphy, Sam and Jody dot com
from Doug in regards to men's shapewear, and we're sharing
that over the summer again that you know Sam sometimes
wears shapewear.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Murphy bought one.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
To only fancy occasions.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Yeah you have one.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Yeah, I've only worn it once.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Is it the whole T shirt? Is it like a
sleep Okay?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
I was recommended to wear shapewear as back support as
I have lower back issues. This is from Doug. I
have what amounts to corsets, high waisted briefs, boxers, and
adult onesies. They do keep the pressure off of my
lower back as well as support the abdomen. When shopping,
go for the ones with whalebone without vertical supports. They
quickly bunch up in the middle. The onesies can't slide
(27:23):
down as they start at the shoulders. They have an
adjustable compression waist belt and you can take care of
personal needs in them. Okay, but not having to get addressed.
Women have known that forever. Women who've been wearing shapewear
forever know that you can go to the ladies room
without having to take the whole thing off.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
There's a little.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Door Okay, I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Doug called it something else not to say here on
this show.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
That's great, Doug. You know, the only high waisted briefs
I ever had were involuntary in school.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
It's so funny because I didn't know that shapewear for
men was a thing until we were talking about shapewear.
The mistakes that people make with it. Mainly, the biggest
mistake is buying it too small. Buy your size. It's
meant to smooth at your size. And then that's when
Sam admitted that he sometimes wears does yours.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Have a little door?
Speaker 3 (28:20):
No, I only have the top the shirt. Don't need
a door.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Love hearing from you. Keep it coming.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
You can call our texts to join the conversation anytime.
Eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ I think.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I have a new mocktail obsession.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
Oh oh yeah, you sure do, MARKI.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Jody knows what I'm talking about. I just tried this.
We happen to be, you know, at the bar, which
is not a problem for me, you know, I mean
it's actually it was Jody and Taylor and Phoebe, our daughters,
were to go one day when we were in New York.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Still that was my birthday. We were having a drink
tall oh that's.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Right, yeah, that night, and so on their menu they
had a virgin moscow mule, and so that's not something
every drink when I was actuallydrinking alcohol, and so I
ordered one.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
You never drank a mocktail, though.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
And the reason I like it, I've never had it before.
I didn't realize how what a punch in the face
these things are. Did you ever have those while you
were drinking or not? Now, the funny thing is, I've
had virgin ones. I've never had them while I was
drinking though. Well, so I don't know if you feel
the same way I do. But that ginger beer and
lime juice kick is awesome. It's just a it's spicy
(29:25):
and it's wonderful. And this particular version also has so
a true moscow mule, I guess is served in the
copper mug ice in you know, ginger beer, which is
non alcoholic most of it is anyway, and lime juice
and then vodka in the alcoholic version. Some will sprig
of mint will be you know, a garnished or lime.
(29:47):
And then the one that we had had a little
bit of a Gabe syrup, just a little bit to
kind of smooth things out a little bit. And I
really did, like, you know, that version of it. So
I'm hooked. And so Jody, do you didn't realize this?
You gone out of town again? You'd gone out of
town again. And I went to the store and bought
some ginger beer and I made some virgin Moscow mules
for myself plural.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
I did see the lime juice in the fridge, and
I thought, it's been a long time since we had
lime juice in the house, you know, because it used
to be a margarita situation.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
He went looking for the tequila.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
So did you buy some copper glasses too or that?
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I did not, but I almost did, You know how
I am when i'm into something to do that yet? Yeah, yeah,
I'm not going to do that.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Perhaps maybe you should wait?
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Well, And I read I read something on that there
have been studies, of course, everybody studies everything that the
acidic nature of the drink itself in a true copper
mug without aligning on the inside of it, can cause
copper to leach into the drink. But again, I don't
know how much science there is behind all that I
just I've I've read up some of that.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
You drink the moail relax
