Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Podcast, Crazy Little Health warning about the biggest threats to
our hearing in our daily lives, and one of them is,
of course, earbuds at a high volume.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
But I bring it up.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Because of this story, this unusual story that came out
of China, different part of the world, but an eighteen
year old camper, he was out camping, he lost part
of his hearing because he spent more than four hours
surrounded by a bunch of cicadas in a forest.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
No kidding, which is a sound Murphy loves, right.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
I love that. That doesn't sound like the cicada's in
our backyard. But yeah, that is a excuse me, that's
a comfort sound that reminds me just a childhood. I
love it. Yeah, And you know the thing about cicadas, Well,
I'm sorry for this kid. I hate hearing that story.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Oh yeah, he had to go like for treatment.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
They are they're really loud, but you know, their patterns
are different because when the sun, once the sun goes down,
they're no longer making their sound. What you hear a crickets,
cicadas don't make it. The cicadas will make their noise
all day long during the daylight, but not at nighttime.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I did know that, Yeah, we need to watch a
documentary on them or something. But anyway, this teenager he
developed a ringing in his ears and then a lot
of hearing difficulties after having it. Was exposure to hundreds
of them at once because he was in a forest camping.
And they say even a single one, a single cicada
too long can cause damage because it can exceed eighty
(01:25):
five decibels, a level that is considered harmful over time.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Well, and because of like you said, it's a constant sound,
the ear doesn't get the relief from it.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Right or what. I'm surprised about high for too long.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
I'll need to notice that. Maybe he's not been loud
enough in our backyard. But my Apple watch warns me
if something's too loud, going to do that in the car.
It's done it at concerts before it's done it. What's
the threshold, I don't remember what is. It's minus eighty
something dB. I don't know if that means anything to anybody. Okay,
it's loud.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
The word is.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
The most common, though threat to our hearing is the
earbud use when you're trying to drive everybody out. They
say it's too high for too long. I'll look at
Sam because he's often trying to drown.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
People everybody out.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
What the word is if you can't if you're listening
in the earbuds to music or a podcast or whatever,
but you can't hear people around you, that might be
too loud, they say.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Unless you've got noise cancelation on. I mean, if you
put the noise cancelation on, that's probably a better plan. Yeah,
And trying to drown out noise in your ears.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Maybe speak to a professional, but may but you're probably
right because that's all designed for that. The other thing
is driving with the windows down for a long period
of time is rough on your ears.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
And hair dryers all day. I'm thinking I use a
hair dryer every day.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
The people in salons, it's too high for too long,
careful of your baby ears.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Coming up at six fifty, Jody has three things to
note today.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
On the way next though, clarification on whether you should
joke with your doctor at an appointment.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
Social media connect we'd.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Had a conversation recently and it's posted online everywhere, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok,
all the places about how we all test the waters
in doctors' offices, making jokes and sometimes they land and
sometimes not.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Murphy has a really funny doctor.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
I don't you know, I don't really test the water.
Is it just like if the moment hits you, it's
not testing anything. It's just kind of like having fun.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
I do it.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
You're in a moment where you want there to be
some levity.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Right, I do it for my own levity, and sometimes
it lands and sometimes it doesn't. It really bothers Sam
when these jokes don't land, because that's your whole core, right.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
But I kind of understand it now with doctors, their
mind is somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Correct.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
They're working on a solution for you, so they're not
necessarily going to be haha.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
From Facebook and Instagram messenger, Trace sent this regarding that
conversation that's online that video. I worked in the medical field,
and I find that medical people really do have a
sense of humor. But among other medical professionals, to be truthful,
you have to be careful joking with patients because.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
You never know how they will take it.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
So because of being afraid of lawsuits, medical people are
extremely careful and stay professional unless it's someone that they
know very well.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Well.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
That makes sense to me, and what a good point.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
But the thing is if if you allitiate the joke
as the patient, then you pretty much made it clear
that you're i know, open to a sense of humor.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
A couple of times when I've said something that I
thought was funny and it's just nothing, there's nothing. I'm like, fine,
I'm vulnerable, naked and fine nothing.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, you're right now. The case where I do think
you're testing the waters, like you said earlier, is when
Sam tried to do the joke at office depot and that.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Jo jokey place right.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
But that's testing the waters because you really don't know.
At least at the doctor, you kind of have. You've
got an agreed appointment together in a common purpose.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
That's going to be interaction.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, your office depot joke was that you he couldn't the.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Guy couldn't find scissors, and so I was like, this
is an office supply story. You'd think something along those.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Lines, Kathy said, regarding that joke that didn't land. Maybe
the employee had no sense of humor, was just having
a bad day. Sometimes we all have that where we lose?
Are we lose our humor? Brenda said, no, that's not
offensive at all. It was just playing funny good may
depend on your tone of voice. From Denise, Were you snarky?
Were you sarcastic?
Speaker 4 (05:12):
I will say it was snarky and sarcastic.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Maybe that's song.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
If somebody doesn't know you. Depending on how the snark
has done, you almost have to smile and laugh when
you say that, yeah, versus it being the dead pan.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
All right, thank you. We love hearing from you. Keep
it coming. Coming up next your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
The Latest Buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You guys, remember that I recently told you of all
the new movies, I'm sorry, the older movies that are
in the theaters, like this coming week in La La Land.
We touched on that and point Break in September. It
does not stop on September third, The Hunger Games, Yes
on the fourth, Catching Fire on the fifth, Mocking J
(05:55):
Part one on the sixth of September, Mocking J Part two,
No kidding, Some of my favorite.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Movies aren't Harry Potter's next month too, this month, oh,
this month.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
The last, like the twenty seventh through September third. You
can go see every single Harry Potter movie or just
pick the one you want to see.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Should I go see The Hunger Games? Never watched it.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
I don't think that's your bag.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
It's not really okay, No Murphy.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
People fighting for their lives and I make believe like Arena.
Another one though, that I would love to go see
on the screen again.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Be ready for the Tears. Avengers Endgame seems like a
thousand years ago.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
September twenty fifth, they're getting us ready for doomsday. But
hold on to your tickets and your hearts because in
December of this year, on the eighteenth, in theaters for
its eightieth anniversary. It's a wonderful life.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Did I get that right? The eightieth anniversary? That's right right,
doing that math.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
We'll keep you up to date on all this big
screen fun all for the rest of the year.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Coming up next. Sam has Music News.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
The Backstreet Boys want you to come spend New Year's
Eve with them.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Sam Scott Music News.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
The back Screed Boys wants you to come ring in
the New Year in Vegas with them.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Well twist our arms.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
They've added three dates to their Sphere residency, which seems
to be ongoing, just like the Eagles. December thirty first,
January first, and January second.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Girls Trip.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Yeah, tickets go on sale next week if you want
to check that one out. They've done forty seven sold
out shows at the Spere.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
See that's a smart place for them to be. There's
nothing wrong with that. It's just they're going to be
better suited for you come to us instead of us
doing the tour thing.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
When you go to Vegas to see the Backstreet Boys,
you do so much more than just see the Backstreet Boy.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Yeah. Do you know that Harry Styles likes to treat
his fans to goodies when he wraps up his residencies,
Like what kind of goods? I found this out when
he wrapped up his Mexico City went over the weekend
he treated earlier this week Sunday and Monday, you could
go to this one churro shop in Mexico City and
he was for all the churros for those two days.
(08:01):
They have a line out the door.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Worry, that's lovely.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
When he was in Amsterdam, he treated everybody to free
drinks at a cafe, everybody in the audience. About one
performance London, he gave away flowers.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
That's lovely.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
It's so beautiful and smart because they've come to see you,
they've given something to you.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Are my favorite?
Speaker 4 (08:21):
How do I get there? A couple of big Hollywood
actors dropping albums on us this month, the first one
being Morgan Freeman. It's Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience. He's
the producer and narrator of this. He's got like Taj
Mahal and keb Mo and these great blues artists covering
famous blue songs with a symphony. And he narrates in between.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Welcome to our Symphonic Blues Experience. A unique comination, break
out prison.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
That means he can be up for a Grammy next year.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Cool.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
And they cover blues music for one hundred years, from
nineteen thirties to the present. The other one is Anthony Hopkins.
You know, for his entire life, since he was a kid,
he's been writing music, symphonic music, and he's actually putting
out an album. It's called Life Is a Dream. Here's
one of the songs.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Oh it's just symphony.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Okay, Yeah, we were waiting for doctor Lecter to say something.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Oh no, no, it's all symphony music. He said, some
forty years of symphonic musica.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Beans.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Well, actually he did say, you know what really goes
best with this fava beans.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Oah, nice gy, Sorry, Anthony, I can't help it.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
We're immature. Coming up next. Three things to know today.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
Three things to note today.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Number one that halipino salmonella outbreak still of major concern
and the.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Count is unchanged.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Three hundred and forty five people got sick in twenty
seven different states, many of them hospitalized.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
No deaths.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
But you're looking for recalled salsas, dips, guacamole, other prepared
foods with a best if used by date August sixteenth,
which is this weekend, which means this stuff could be
sitting in fridge.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yeah, people's refrigerators.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
The brand name will be Taylor Farms, that's the food company.
But this came fresh ailapanos from a farm in Mexico.
Number two, If you are a late night snacker and
you absolutely want something to snack on before you go
to bed, there are foods that can help you sleep better.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Yeah, get ice cream, potato chips, actually.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
No things that have potassium and trip to fan bananas
at the top of the list. Tart, cherry juice on
the list can help you sleep, Low fat dairy things
like milk or yogurt, and salmon in tuna, which I
don't know if we're snacking on that night. And number
three last night in Chicago, you know they love well
(10:51):
the White Sox and Pope Leo.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Well.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
At the Sox game, they gave out popats to like
forty thousand fans who attended the sellout game against the.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Reds and it was just the biggest hit.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Everybody was wearing a po hat. Yeah, it didn't help them,
by the way, they lost after ten innings.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
You're up to date.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
I don't know about you, but when I have a
new technical device in my life, which I do a new.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Phone, all I want.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
To do now is go sit under a tree today,
okay with an Apple?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
No oh, you mean you wanted to have an iPhone
and set.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Android all the way here for me? But I have
a new device and my brain is about to start smoking.
Like you see what I'm saying. Everything has to be
logged into a new and it's it's hurting my brain.
And I know I'm not alone in that. But here's
what's up, Murphy. This is my keep the while for today.
(11:58):
In the past, I would have just said, please do
this for me, and it batted my eyes at you
and let you you know. I don't want to be
that person anymore. I don't love technology, but it is
a part of life, and I do embrace the parts
that make my life easier.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I just want you to know that this morning.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
I've had a few Today, I've had a few obstacles
with it, but I was really happy to figure most.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Of them out without your house.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Like my.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Outlook account was not here and I had to log
in and set it all up again, and then there
was a problem. You can't get in without the authenticator,
but the authenticator is a part of that app, and
it's just like this circle. It was like this unbelievable
circle where I wanted to bang my head.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
I think it's more difficult to transfer to a new
phone now because of that, because we've got so many
things and then all the security protocols and stuff. But
thank goodness, you can transfer everything because that is a
huge time saver.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
But you know, to log into everything right, it.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Doesn't and you don't really want it. Transferring all of you,
your security codes and everything, because that would make it insecure.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Hey, she got on the candy Crush this morning and
couldn't get out of there.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I didn't mean to.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
I don't have that, but it loaded on the new one,
so I'm like, Sam, I can't stop or really not
trying to play a game. I went out into the
hall and tried to get back into this this studio
area which is locked down via an app, and I
couldn't get back in. Like, so it's just one of
those days. I don't know if you feel that way too,
But to keep the wout, meaning when you do things
(13:28):
that are a little outside of your comfort level, when
you challenge yourself, that's how confidence is built.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
So it working on without your health, it.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Would start to finish. She wouldn't even let me take
it out of the box last night, which is great.
I mean, I'm really I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
For keep in mind and five days from now you'll
have it all.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
I hope.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
It's it's just that little transition startup.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Period, right.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
It can make you want to sit under a tree,
but not with all Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody has three things to
know today and next your morning pick me.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Up, morning, pick me up time. And I learned this
recently and it's just an awesome little takeaway if you
are raising kids, little kids and you want them to
grow up to be the kind of people who respect time,
who show up on time to things, or if you
struggle with time management, Murphy, I promise, I'm.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Not looking at you, but if you struggle.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Straight ahead, if you struggle with time management, comprehending time,
you know, comprehension of time, go back to when a
child is a little and they're just let's just putting
your kid is in the high chair and banging on
the thing and you're like dinners in five minutes. You
say that to a child. A child doesn't know what
five minutes is. Everything is new to a child. So
(14:46):
sometimes your time management comprehension start. Everything starts there. It
starts there, And so you're.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Basically saying, I still think of time like a child.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
No, I did not say that. I did not say that.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
They're saying that it's something that you don't think to teach.
But there are easy ways to teach it to a child,
and you can do this for yourself as an adult.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Not you specifically it's.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Just an interesting thing.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
But I would love this to be a good take
a morning, pick me up, takeaway.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Literally for a kid.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
You can say, I'm going to set a timer for
ten minutes, and let's clean your room in ten minutes
or go play outside for ten minutes. But when this
timer goes off, you know, do it when you need
them to help you with chores so it doesn't seem
like too long for them. They know that, they know
that there's going to be an end to this. You
don't have to clean your room all day. They will
learn what ten minutes is if you teach them along
(15:43):
with all the other things they're doing. If they're watching
an episode of Bluie and it's ten minutes long, speak
to them about it.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
In ten minutes that will be over. Then come see me.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
I used to do that with my kids when they
were little, the three little ones, right with SpongeBob. Yeah,
I would say, how long is that going to be?
It's like about as long as a SpongeBob at exactly.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Start working time into the regular daily life with children
and life and routines, and you will teach them about
what feels like five minutes versus an hour because the
little kid doesn't know, and as an adult you can
do the same. What's that tomato thing you have, Murphy.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
The Pomadora timers what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Correct, that's something you can put.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
I keep forgetting.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
It's meant to be a pick me up because it
can enhance your life to do this, and it's easy.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Coming up next your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
Trending Now, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
There's a new trailer for a new movie coming out
early October. This one looks insanely psychologically scary. Based on
a best selling novel by Colleen Hoover. It's not all
love stories from her.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Sam.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
I think you read this book. You know you're always
the first one to read chick lit. It's called Verity,
starring Anne Hathaway.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
And to Johnson, you must have.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
Questions, why can't your wife finish her book series?
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Josh Hart, you're laughing.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
This is Verity.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Doctors don't think she'll ever walk. We're talking so Verity.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Is an author of famous author Verity, and then she
is not the same. She can't finish her books. There's
something crazy going on.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
I got to bring in Dakota Johnson.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah, the Dakota Johnson character comes in. She plays Loewen,
a ghostwriter hired to complete the book. But there's all
kinds of it's so scary looking.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Well, I mean, the sound effects sounded scary.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Did you do you remember reading this?
Speaker 4 (17:41):
No, I don't you go see it?
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Watch the trailer. Some big names here. It looks like
the great, great psychological thriller. October second in theaters. We
also have a quick piece of Harry Potter news for
you for the upcoming HBO second season of the show.
Nicholas Holt has been cast as Gilderoy cart for season two.
Look him up, you'll recognize him. He's been He was
in the Superman movie. He wasn't about a boy, and
(18:06):
he looks like a good.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Professor coming up.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Apparently a proposal is not a requirement for getting married.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Social media connect.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
I knew we were going to hear about this one, Murphy.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
This juicy podcast we did a couple of days ago
after the show, podcast about our relationship and the beginnings.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah, how it all got started, How in the world
we've survived working together this long?
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Not even the work stuff as much as our beginning story.
When you knew when I knew you did not propose
to me, and I did want to bring that back up.
And we have a lot of comments about that, about
the non proposal. Apparently it happens a lot. We just knew,
of course at that time. And I mentioned this in
the podcast that I would have liked that. It was
a part of me. I was younger, I wanted that,
(18:49):
but a couple of years into being married.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
I realized I've got the marriage.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
You know I've got and I'm happy, you know, And
so I remember, I remember letting that go. I don't
even think about it unless it gets brought up, unless
somebody goes, how were you proposed to? And I'll go,
funny story, I wasn't proposed to either, and says being
(19:14):
proposed to is a great feeling, I admit, But soulmates
just know a person knows when they're meant to be.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
It's a feeling like no other agreed. That's the thing
you need to know.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
If you're a young person you're listening to this, what
you actually want in life is the relationship to be strong,
not the proposal to be exceptional. Just like they'll say,
you want a great marriage versus a great wedding. Don't
get caught up in the wrong things. You know, even
if it's the right person, that doesn't mean that everything
(19:45):
is going to happen in a perfect way from start
to finish.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
It's not going to.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Two people see things totally different than each other, and
you don't really know that until it happens. The proposal
is usually a surprise, so there's no discussing advanced going.
So how do you feel about proposals? Yeah, well, that
would really water the moment down too.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Well, what about the fact that there may be people
who have done the big proposal and then that person
on the receiving end was like, like, didn't want it
to be on the jumbo tron.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
You know, it is a chance.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
You takes a lot of people don't want to jumbo
trons these.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Sam, did you do proposals?
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Let's see one to two? I did, Yes. The other
one kind of just came up. We were sitting at
a bar drinking and it's like, eh, you know you
think we ought too? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Sure, why that was kind of like me and Murphy, Yeah, okay,
thank you for.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
Jumping yours worked, Okay, Yes.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
That's okay too. Love having you along. Coming up next.
Three things to know today.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Number one, it's true there's any eclipse today, but not
likely that you're going to see it. Totally crosses like Russia, Greenland, Iceland,
some of northern Spain, only tiny parts of the United
States like Boston, parts of New York. But the same
you know, special brand new moon that makes the eclipse
possible is what makes tonight's best meteor shower We've had
(21:14):
a year. The proceeds tonight pre dawn, so like between
two and six in the morning. If you want to
go outside, face northeast and bring.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Lawn share stuff.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Number two, If you didn't have one big vacation, no
big deal that Harvard Happiness Experts says. Vacation nets are
the way take small little trips a couple or two
or three a year. You get to enjoy the vacation
glow more often. It's just as good for your mental.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
A little refresher, and the other.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Bonus is that just looking forward to a trip can
boost your mood, make your every day a little better.
Vacation nets they're called and number three, To no one's surprise,
the NBA has scheduled a bunch of Philadelphia seventy six
ers games featuring Lebron James in the biggest times lots
of the schedule. So they're going to play the defending
(22:03):
New York Knicks champs on opening Night at Madison Square
Garden in October. Then they'll host the Cleveland Cavaliers their
first home game, and then his previous team, the LA Lakers,
they'll be playing them on Christmas Day, and ticket prices
are already way up.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Sam's always up on the new Eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Setting up has changed its formula really okay, you know
they are lemon lime soda. Yeah, well they have changed
the formula and now they're calling themselves a lime and
lemon soda.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Oh, lime is more forward, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Lime is more forward in the new one. It's apparently
it's more brighter, more refreshing lime first. Good and say,
and they've actually got the cans going lime lime and
lemon now more green. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Look, that sounds good to me.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
It does sound good. But you know, if you're seven
of purest change in the formula, it sounds like risky
business to me.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
No one's ever done that before.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
You can get an original zero sugar cherry and cherry
zero sugar excellent. Right. The folks at Hindes have something
new that I don't know that we really need. It's
called the Love Lid. Okay, So on your Hinds bottle,
you know, you squeeze out the ketchup. Sometimes it's too much,
sometimes it's too little. Yeah, So they're now selling this
thing called the Love Lid. It hasn't a thing on
(23:25):
the lid. On the cap. You can adjust you like
you love or crazy love.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
And it opens it bigger.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Yeah, how much ketchup comes out?
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Okay, that's cute.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Yeah, So if you love it, it's the middle one.
If you like it, it's just a little ketchup.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Does it? Does it change the sound that everybody justifies?
I'm telling you it was the bottle.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
I promise you can only buy these online right now.
And I actually pulled up the picture from Walmart. It's
three something. Oh that's just to buy the cap.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
That's funny, Okay, Okay.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
More decisions. Huhs has put together two of their favorite
flavors called Late Night Taco and Chimmy Cherry Lime. So
they're in the same back now. If you want to
try those out, take your chance. Over at Aldi, they
have pumpkin spice kettle corn. If you tried that yet, no,
that sounds good. And they also have a maple kettle
corn as well. Yeah, I know you got a maple issue.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I actually don't even like kettle corn because I don't
like sweet popcorn.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Really, horn, I'm so wonderful.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Jodie's a savory person when it comes to popcorn.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
Over at Thomas, the bagel and English muffin folks, they
are and this is really cool. They're not releasing these
till October. They're not. They're not in on the let's
put it out now right. Pumpkin spice bagels and English muffins.
They're coming out in October, and they're maple French toast
bagels and English muffins in October. It should be right.
And finally, the Celestial Seasonings has a new wellness Yeah,
(24:47):
Celestial Wellness teas. Three new wellness teas. One that's pre
pre biotic blend, one is a throat soother and the
other is a stomach soother.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
They have good tea. I can say they're the ones
that make sleepy time tea.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Oh that's their biggest seller.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
So good rightly so coming up.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider and it is keep the
Wow Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Keep the Wow time. Keep the Wow is a motto
just to remind yourself, keep your accomplishments close and in
your head talking to you, you know, not just the
negative stuff like I did that wow. Keep it remind yourself.
It's about self confidence. We like to hear about your wows.
These coming into Facebook, Instagram and Murphy Samonjody dot com.
(25:32):
And we do mean the big and little things in life,
like little things can wow you. Joshua says. My wow
is that Mike Kendall told me this morning that I
have read seventy one books since the beginning of twenty
twenty six, and some of them are romance novels.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
Seventy one.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
I love it. You're a good You're a reader. That's
like two books a week, maybe more than This is
so good for your your life and guess what it
can take you anywhere? I love that. Joshua.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
You let us know about the end of the year
how many you have read. Emma says, My wow is
that I have a little house on a little street
in a little town that has numerous restaurants and venues
for live music in walking distance.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Nice, that's peaceful too, at least it sounds peaceful.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Also that just that, you know, sometimes your wow is
just that, hey, things are nice, paying attention to what
actually is good instead of all the worry and the
things that we we tend to wake up and problem
solve and focus on the problems. When you keep, keeping
the wow means focus on what's good. Yeah, you know,
and let that speak to you. Kathy says, my keep
(26:43):
the wow is that pumpkin season is knocking on the
door and it's my fave. And then here's an email
from Murphy Samon Jody dot com from Bill was listening
to the story of Barney and Louie, which was the
morning picked me up about the duck and the dog
on the duck. I just had to know if they're
were diapers for ducks, so I looked it up.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Sam said, diapers for ducks. Yeah, would you.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Well, they wouldn't let the duck in the house with
the dogs.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Beause birds in a house, it's yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
They poop a lot, Okay, So would you believe they
do make them huh. They're called poultry diapers, and you
line them with the disposable pad or whatever absorbment material
you have. They cost anywhere from ten to thirty dollars
for a box. How's that for a WHI while, thank you,
We'll never forget it. A diaper for a duck. That
(27:31):
just lets you know that everything you could possibly want
is made in manufactured.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Sam, if you decided to do that with the ducks
in the backyard, let me know. I want to see
what that's take. Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
We just heard that Ryan Murphy is giving us another
of his anthology series Monster. Like the first one was
Dahmer Oh, I mean, he doesn't play, and then he
did The Menindez Brothers and the ed Geen Story. So
the new one that's dropping on Netflix in September, which
is right around the corner, so scary. I'm only going
(28:08):
to give you a piece of the trailer because there
are children waking up right now.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
It's Monster, the Lizzie Borden's story.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Can acts gab I'm pay.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
I mean, I just want you to know that just
this teaser trailer is so ugy and scary. I don't
know if I'm brave enough to watch this, but if
you love the scare and this is based on real events,
that's what his anthology.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
If it says monster before it and then.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
There's a title, it's based on real events, but it's
his dramatic take on it, which is super scary. Okay,
how about something light and lovely. Julie Andrews, at ninety
years old, has something.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
To say, all right.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
She confirms that she is not going to be a
part of the Princess Diaries three. They've asked her. She
would love to, she says, but look I thought better
of it. I think I'm really retired now. And she
said it's lovely, but she just feels like that's not
what she needs. She's still working. She does like narration
and voice work for Bridgerton.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Did you know that? No, she does that just to
keep her brain active.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
You ever have fomo fear of missing out about a
TV show or a movie?
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Yes, because who can keep up with all that there
is to watch?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I don't, I mean, because I know I can watch
it on demand anywhere, unless it's in the theater. The
theater would be the only place. I would have the
fomo the rest it's easy.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
I have had it the past few days about a
TV show called House of the Dragon. Yeah, I knew it.
It came out six years ago. Four years ago?
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Was it that long ago?
Speaker 4 (29:47):
It was every two years we're getting the season, and
this was season.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Three that I didn't have finish the first season. It
was so brutal.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
Me too. I watched a couple episodes and it's just like,
this is not interesting me. I was all into it
because of Game of Thrones, because of the drag wagons.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yeah, and it's like, yeah, it opened with a girl
riding a dragon, Murphy.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
You did it, yes, So well that's enough to suck
in telling you in the past. Well, this past Sunday
was the last episode of season three, and so I've
seen it all over social.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Oh my god, it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Well, what we had talked about in the Hollywood Outsider
is that those who are watching it on Sunday night,
they were not okay rolling into work Monday.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
So it was one of those big Game of Thrones
things where you like what.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Was killed.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
So I forgot about that. You would really have the
fomo if the show still has a definitive time that
it begins airing. That's not the same as it being
on demand. But once it's there, is there, right.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Yeah, But like Jody said, we'd written it off because
it's like, no, it's not the same. But now it's
like all these people are talking about it. Am I
missing something? So oh, I understand what you're saying. So okay,
I went back and I started over. Okay, I'm now
I'm only an episode and a half in. There's like
twenty six episodes. Good, but I can tell you this, Jody.
(30:58):
I don't know if it'll affect you trying it again,
but it's better, Okay. I don't know if it's because
I watched Night of the Seven Kingdoms and I got
my fix there.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
But House of the Dragon, even these episodes that I've
seen already, I'm into it. I'm sort of invested in
some of the characters already.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
You know why I think it is is because enough
time has passed for you since Game of Thrones, which
none of these can live up to exactly and honest exactly,
but it still gets you back into that world a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Yeah, there's still dragons, and then you know the keep
and all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
So exciting.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Go try it.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Number One, travelers learned a lot this summer, especially when
things were taken from them from them at TSA. So
there's a whole list online at the TSA website of
surprising items that are banned that they that you may
not know about. Cordless curling irons. I didn't know they existed.
Sounds great to me, except you cannot put those in
checked baggage. You have to carry that on. Oh, you
(31:59):
can't bring a bowling ball in a carry on. Apparently
people are doing that, like in a bowling ball bag,
but they won't allow it.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
You imagine having to give up your bowling ball.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
And then e cigarettes and vaping devices cannot be in
checked luggage, but they took a lot of them this summer.
Number Two, it doesn't matter now what age group you're in.
It's not just older people. Even younger generations want in
public spaces quiet. They want to be able to talk
and hear each other. I'm loving hearing this because you've
(32:30):
ever gone to an event where you couldn't hear anybody?
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Yeah, at the end of it, and you're supposed to
be there.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
To talk and at the end you've lost your voice.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Okay, I'll just want to hear each other when we're together.
Love it and number three.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Shark Week twenty twenty six was big for the Discovery Channel.
There's a lot of streaming and stuff in competition, but
like seven of the top ten shows during that week,
we're all shark related. And so they said, look, we
are not stopping this train. Expect an even bigger Shark
Week next year.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
You're in the note three thanks to Know Today.
