Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Are you guys interested in these seven books that thrift
stores wish you would donate?
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Yeah, because they've never really wanted any of mine. I
don't want management books, they don't want self help book.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
It was one time that you got turned away?
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Is it all seven Harry Potter books?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Oh, they would love Harry Potter books. Okay, seven different types.
So we're gonna get to.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Okay, I said seven genres, not seven titles.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
No, not titles. Yeah, none of the ones that your rocket.
Number one recently published fiction and bestsellers. I mean obviously
that those have high resell value.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
They actually do.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
So if you've just finished a really great novel and
you happen to have the actual, you know, physical book,
and you don't want it sitting on yourself, donate it.
Somebody else will grab it really quickly. I've got a
couple of those, and I'll donate. Also on the list
Number two, gently used and loved kids books. Those are
always big for resale, and why not let another kid
(01:04):
or family enjoy it. It could become a favorite, it could
become the story. And if you also, if you're look
I kept a going. I'm going to keep a few
of the girls books forever, but most of them i've donated,
you know, are kids books cookbooks number three on the list.
Oh really, they have a pretty good request value at
thrift stores. Thrifting is hot because of the economy. The
(01:28):
more modern the cookbook, the better. Obviously that makes sense. Yeah,
So if you've got a Joanna Gaines that you're not
using anymore, drop it off.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Yeah, modern and a higher name person that recognized.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah, classic novels or school reading books. You know, you
know they're going to be reading certain titles.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, if it's on the list, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, donating it makes sense. There's no need for it
to look. Some people love a big collection of books,
but after a while, if you've read it, why is
it just sitting there.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Donation is always a great thing. I don't you done this?
And I haven't used bookstores. Do they buy from you, Jody,
or do you selling consignment?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I've never done it with books. I just donate.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Usually the US stores that I've dealt with, you sell
them the books. I've sold them the books. I mean
they buy them for pennies on the dollar, because obviously
they have to resell them of money.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Okay, okay. The other one's Murphy's self help and lifestyle books.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, there you go. I can donate a bunch of those.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Got you got rejected once, but you could try again.
Coffee table books are hot. They're beautiful. People are geting
to decorate a lot of us grabbing stuff from thrift
stores to decorate. Coffee table books included and good without
too much writing in and notes in bibles. People are
sometimes looking for an old, gently used bible.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Coming up at six point fifty, Jody has three things
to note today and next, Sam is the food dude.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Doctor Pepper is best flavor ever. It's now back on
the shelves.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Sam's always up on the new eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
The greatest Doctor Pepper flavor ever is now back on shelves.
Of course this is in my honest opinion, Uh, the
creamy coconut.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
I know. Sam sent me a picture from the grocery
store the other day, and this is a picture of it.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Short term or long term.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's the limited time how many supposed to be. It
was supposed to be this summer, but then they moved
it back to April, and I was at the store Saturday. Yeah,
and it's like it's not on the shelves. Oh well,
but the guys were there and I was like, hey,
stop them, you're gonna bringing that back soon. And he's like,
oh yeah, I got some right here wrapped up in
the cellophane. Oh, he says, but we just built a
(03:32):
whole display ten feet away.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
How many?
Speaker 2 (03:35):
How many did you buy?
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Three? Okay, one is for us. I forgot to bring it.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Well it's Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, get on, I'll put a road on my car. Anyway.
It does. It's regular and zero sugar as well.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
It's such a good flavor. Doctor Pepper, Please.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Keep familiar with liquid ivy.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Oh yeah, regular of its lemon.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
We have a new flavor called they partnered with Grillo's Pickles,
so and we have a pickle flavor.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
That sounds that powder form or is that the ummm.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
It looks like it's a powder. That's the tall Pa power. Yeah, tangy, salty,
briny with notes of cucumber, vinegar and dill.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
I bet that's actually pretty good.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Correct. It's like you're drinking pickle juice, but you're not.
And it makes sense for that because every no matter
what flavorings you put in that sort of thing, the
hydration drinks. They taste salty, you know, so.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Well, because I think that's because like potassium and magnesium
are technically salt. I knew, right, is right? I think
it is.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
It's got our very own scientists here. Pepsi has put
out a new flavor of poppy you know, that's their
prebiotic soda, five grams of sugar. It's berries and cream BlackBerry, raspberry,
blueberry and a little sweet cream finish on them there
as well.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
That sounds good.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
And by the way, you know, Chloe Kardashian, she has
those cloud that cloud popcorn. It's protein popcorn.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I did not know.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, well, she's now releasing hips on her cloudline cloud
expelled khloud. Of course, these are all tortilla chips, but
the flavors are Sweeteat, Buffalo and Nacho flavor polegrain non GMO.
They're only available right now at Target. They will soon
be available online though.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood up.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
The latest buzz Jody's Hollywood Outsider. There's a lot going
on in the Star Wars universe right now, with the
fiftieth anniversary coming up of Star Wars, which is Sam
reminding me of is next year?
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Yeah, nineteen seventy seven.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
So fiftieth anniversary. Yeah of one of the most successful
franchises ever.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Yeah. They just started a new series too, a Darth
Maul series. It's animated.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Oh okay, it's a new one. So you know that
Mark Hamill has teamed up with Lego for the Lego
he's the spokesperson for the Lego Star Wars smart play
sets that are coming that were debuted at the Consumer
Electronics Show in January. You know what the smart sets me? Okay,
wy don't you go ahead and tell Mark we.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Talked about it. It's some of them have these electronics
inside it and when you put it in the right pieces,
you know like R two D two will go, or
it's going to be like Scheubacca will go. Whoa Chewbacca noise.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
So he has been named the Junior Executive Director of Information,
Junior Executive.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
DIREEDI for for for Legos, for Lego Right, funny and
tomorrow for all the ones.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
All the people who would want to do this, you
can call. There's an eight seven seven number in the
evening well from noon until eight pm and hear him
discuss all about the Lego sets, and some callers will
be invited to live video chat with him. Don't worry, Sam,
it's eight seven seven eight Oh ask Mark.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Okay, coming up in six fifty Joe, he has three
things to note today.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Jump in join us. We love having you along. Eight
seven seven three one zero four MS.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Jay.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
If we're not here because you call overnight, leave us
a voice memo.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Hey, good morning, guys. I've had We have three older
fur babies, and every time we my husband cooks us
breakfast in the rain. He cooks an extra eggs and
it goes on his plate to feed them, and an
extra egg on my plate just to feed the dog.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
They absolutely love those eggs, and they fully expect them,
and we would want them to expect them because they
want to eat when we eat. They want to eat
what we eat, so the eggs are a perfect treat
to them anytime. Thank you for letting me share. Y'all
have a great day. You're the best radio station.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
In the whole world.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
I appreciate You're lucky fur babies. This is all because
I said that giving a dog a plane egg boiled egg. However,
you cook it is actually a good trip.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Not to them that you're cooking in a bunch of
grease and ad in a bunch of seasonings.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
To Yeah, not hollandaise sauce on top. They don't need
any of that. But I was told that years ago
by a dog trainer. It was like anything straight protein
like you can give a dog, not that you should.
Murphy doesn't like it when I feed our dogs anything
but dog food, and I have started doing that with
little Sparky. He eats with me. Now he eats lettuce
from a salad. Oh really loves it.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I don't think there's anything wrong with the lettuce. It's
the crew toons that eventually. It's not like he's gaining
a ton of way, right, Well.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
He doesn't go on walks. He's a tiny little dog
and he's older. So he that's his That's what he gets.
That special, yeah, you know, is he gets to eat
with me. So every time I eat, you know, he
comes out comes running.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
This past weekend, when I was watching dog sitting Django
from his family, I don't tell anybody, but I snuck
him part of a hard boiled egg.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Yeah I love it.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Oh yeah, he inhaled.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
It, of course, and it's straight protein by the way,
I double checked. So yeah, the food, the real foods
that are best to give as a treat, like vegetables,
low calorie, crunchy things like carrots, like cucumbers, even broccoli.
Just careful that broccoli can make them a little gas.
Fruits are okay in moderation, say.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
Of them, not all grapes, for example.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
And protein like boiled chicken brust just plain not overly seasoned,
and boiled eggs cooled off of course, thank you for
jumping in.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Coming up next, Jody's got three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Three things to know today. Number one, Artemis two has
made its way around the Moon and is now headed
back to Earth. So this mission took these astronauts farther
from Earth than any other humans have ever traveled.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Four thousand miles further.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
They made a lot of observations, took a lot of
video and pictures. By the way, O'Ryan aligned with the
Sun and Moon yesterday, putting the crew inside a total
solar eclipse.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Oh that's cool.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
So much to know about that. Number two disney Land
World yet, But Disneyland has banned phones and Stanley cups
on some of its rides, and you can see why
if that Stanley cup cups are flying out of people's
hands and phones the same, so they've got little you know,
a Stanley cup's shelf. And it's not just Stanley. I
(10:16):
say that any huge tumbler, that's your emotional support thing.
You carry it everywhere. You might not be able to
carry it on rides. Going forward, you're going to see
this from more amusement parks because people are getting hurt
with your stuff flying out of your hands in rides
on rides. And number three, how long does it take
for fashion trends to return? We all know that this
(10:36):
is cyclical. And you know, if you love something in
your closet and it's not in anymore, they say, hold
on to it. It used to be twenty years, say that's
what it used to be. But now, thanks to social
media and everybody being so connected, things that are hot
are returning in half that time.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Twenty minutes.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
Well so about a decade. If you love something, hang
on to it.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
You're up to date.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
If you are a woman and you are single and
you are dating, one of your number one concerns is
You guys probably don't realize this, but is safety? Women
think about safety so often, especially single women, How much
energy went into feeling safe and then especially the chance
the occasion of let's just say you're meeting someone that
(11:24):
you've been talking to online and you're finally meeting them
in person. You know, if you've watched too many true
crime documentaries, that can be scary, and it should be scary.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Well, yeah, because you're meeting the stranger for the very
first time.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
You men never feel that way. Do you ever feel
unsafe when you were dating and you were meeting people
sort of online and meeting at a coffee shop? Sam,
I know, Murphy haven't dated in thirty years because we're married.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
That's right now.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
It doesn't bother me.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Okay, See, I don't know, but the one's mind, yeah,
the one to think. Okay. So the ideas the things
that women who are single and dating, what they say
really really works and some of the obvious ones. Always
make sure a trusted friend or family members member knows
where you're going, you know what time. Always choose like
(12:14):
a public place, always somewhere with lots of lighting, lots
of other people and cameras choose a place that you
know is surveilled to meet someone. That's one oh one.
Let a friend know where you are, but not just
that that's kind of obvious, like who you're meeting, where
you met this person online? Also, make sure you know
(12:35):
their last name. Oh, so you can do that look
them up thing first. I'll just you know some supposedly
I don't know, but supposedly online. Sometimes it's just like Murphy.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
H I think I would want to know the last
name before I went and met somebody, for.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Correct, But that way you can look up, look somebody up.
Some women have gone as far as and I think
it's really smart. You meet somebody, you walk in together,
take a picture of their car, of their license plate,
of them, send it to your best friend. Now, if
you're having to do all that this is, you know
it's worrisome.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Well, yeah, it's the basics that you're talking about. And
to me, it's like drive to meet the person. Don't
necessarily let them pick you up. You know, meet in
a neutral place, meet in a public place like you said, yeah,
and you know what when you were talking about letting
your friends know, you can do that put them in
your life. Three sixty circle or find me on iPhone,
that sort of thing, so that you know, if you
were just concerned.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
You tacked to your advantage. My other favorite one is
have a secret code word with a friend, that friend
who knows where you are, and make sure they call
you mid date. And if you say the secret code word,
if that's cool, whip, they come get you. I don't
know why that's the word. Be safe, Be safe.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody has three things to
know today and next your morning pick me.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Up, morning pick me up time. You may have seen
this story trending or seen the headline. We're going to
take you to this story of this entire elementary school
that learned I mean the students, the teachers, even the administration,
everybody in the school learning sign language so that one
death first grader could communicate and have a full on
(14:09):
school experience. His name is Ben, and he was struggling
to connect and his aid was the first person to
notice it. He didn't have relationships with his peers or
teachers for that matter. He was very alone and he
acted very alone. He only had the aid, you know,
and he would see her like once a day. If
(14:29):
if that so it was just like ah, and the students,
you know, were the first ones to notice it. His friends.
One of his friend's name is Reid. If he's your friend,
you can play with him, and he's and he's my friend. Oh,
so they started to notice it, like how can we
talk to him? How can we play with him? And
so one students ask a teacher, and teachers start getting
(14:53):
involved and then they start learning it in the classroom together,
all the students around him how to sign. So it's
trickled into the whole school. There are teachers not even
in his classroom, in Ben's classroom who are now doing
sign or signing even when he's not around, so that
(15:15):
everybody in the school is learning it. It's something that
they're all learning. They're just making it a part of
the curriculum.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
That's amazing.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
It's the most beautiful story. And if you've ever been
around someone who's deaf and then they're in a group
full of people who are not and then someone else
comes in who signs, you see that person like we've
seen it before, connecting Yes, and he's an adopted child,
he has some other special needs, so he, you know,
potentially had that the potential to feel left out a lot.
(15:42):
His mom commented on it as well.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
You could just watch his world like open up with communication.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
It was amazing. So it spread through the whole school
there everybody can't everybody at the whole school can communicate
with him a little bit, some more than others. And
then of course his friend Read wraps up this little
story for us.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
It's fun communicating with Bend and playing with them.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
The morning picked me up.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
In all respect for the classics. Netflix is bringing us
one revisiting a classic with a new limited series, Lord
of the Flies, so based on the nineteen fifty four
novel So if you never I never dug in me either.
It was the idea about it's a group of British
boys who survive a plane crash. That's where you lost me.
(16:34):
A deserted island also lost me finding that they have
to depend on each other, and that's the harder part,
not just depend on each other, but who's in charge
like this whole But this is a new limited series
and it's coming soon in Netflix.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
We were all play They were I know, I were
trying to find out exactly where we are what monsense who's.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Coming with me?
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Think about?
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Can't count themselves?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
It looks gritty. So if you ever wanted to know
more about this, maybe you were forced to read it
in school.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
You know, I'm surprised we weren't, because that was really
big back then.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Correct. So here's the other thing to note. Remember the
show that won the awards called Adolescence.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Yes, it was hard to watch.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
This is has been rewritten and reworked for this limited
series by the co creator of that.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Oh okay.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
It's a four part series, Lord of the Flies, premiering
May fourth on Netflix.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Coming up next, What happens when you have to give
up one of your lifelong dreams?
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
If you've ever had to put a lifelong dream on hold,
but that's kind of what I'm doing.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Wow, a lifelong dream.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Well maybe not a lifelong but in the past few
years I told you that, you know, whenever retirement rolls around,
I've considered, strongly considered maan life. Yes, you know, buying
the van, living in the.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Van down by the river.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah, I'm run any feeling that's where it would go.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
So meaning that your van would be your home, yeah,
meaning sell your house by the vehicle.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Yeah, and everything is right there being committed. Yeah, And
I was all gung ho about it. But in the
past two weeks I have started investigating the situation, you know,
everything that's involved in it. Oh, and it's really taken
a little of the shine off of my idea.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Not a sam thing, I.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Don't think so I can handle. I mean, solitary life,
that's for me. I can handle that, no problem. But
it's just all the other stuff that's involved in it.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Connecting to sewage, you got to have enough.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
You gotta have enough water, and then you know, you've
got gray tanks and black tanks and all that, and
connecting to the sewards to dump it.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Where do you.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Fill up the water at? Power wise, you're going to
have to have solar. You got to keep your batteries charged.
You got to have enough to do this and do that.
And it's like everything I'm happy with now in life
and your home, putting that in a van it's just
not going to compute.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
It sounds like it's a lot of work.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
It sounds like it's a lot of work, and especially
at that time in your life, you know, do you
want seventy years old trying to compute. Okay, I've got
enough ampiers here to run their head right and all that.
It's just maybe maybe it'll be something where I can
rent a van and take a trip for it.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
That's the greatest way to try it. If it's you're
not committing, you're not buying something that's really expensive, right, Yeah,
and you know, and you enjoy live vicariously for a weekend.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, yeah, go treat it like or do a camper
and go spend some time like in a national park
it's been a week or two, and then come home
and see how you like the comforts of home.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
If I'm going to rent, I think it'll be a
camper because it's like why I rent a tiny little van?
And the common sense is finally kicked in, is what
I'm saying here. I did enough research on it where
it's like, that's not going to be what I wanted.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
It's really smart. That's good to know before I bought
the van. Yeah, from being impulsive.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
You know what's not in one of those vans? Your
big bathtub with there's a hose on the bat up.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Next, three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Here's three things to know today. Number one if you
have a Samsung device and you got a message about
switching your texting app to Google Messages, it was not
a scam. It happened to me too. Yesterday Samsung is
discontinuing they're built in texting app, so in July you
won't be able to use that anymore. Everybody got an
end of service notice and so was it app? No,
(20:33):
I don't, They're just they're just discontinuing that, so you
can't load that anymore on the new Samsung phones. But
it's supposed to be Google's Jemini improved sharing with iPhone
users and all that. Yeah, ya ya, I have that
problem on iPhone number two. Let's not play that game.
The Artemis's two crew needed to make curtains out of
(20:53):
a NASA shirt yesterday as they approached the moon. Did
you hear about that? It was so the light was
so bright blinding them these flashes of light that they
had to pick whatever they had, which was a Nazi
T shirt to sort of make curtains in the capsule.
And number three kids, parents are the hardest to trick.
If you're trying to pretend that you are sick and
(21:15):
stay from home from school or whatever new research, parents,
especially moms, their intuition. They can and they know you.
They know ninety plus percent of the time. In fact,
the new research is showing that a parent's opinion should
be included when their kid is getting checked out by AM.
You're in the note three things to know Today, Murphy.
(21:38):
I'm wondering if you'll admit to the documentary that I
suggested you watch, and he watched it like it was
his job, start to finish.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I have no problems admitting to it.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Martha Stewart was indicted on criminal charges mark the Start prosecution.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
I was a trophy for these idiots. I was dragged
into solitary, no food or water.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah, she I mean she addresses everything from her career
to the downfall to the rebound.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Look, we were doing the typical thing you do the
other night. Let's watch something. We sit down, we're eating
our dinner in the family room, we're scrolling through and
instead of spending half an hour scrolling, I was like,
you know, Murphy, you would like that. I bet. And
I say that because I put that Martha doc on
one time while cleaning, ironically and just listen to it.
(22:27):
And I knew that Murphy would like it because it's
her building, you know, her beginnings, building an empire and
then you know, being taken to court and being sent
to jail. It's the whole story, and she's in it
being Martha.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Yeah, it's got everything. It Actually, it's extremely well told,
with plenty of it. It's a well prouced documentary. Everybody's
watched the kind of documentaries that kind of drone on forever,
but this then keeps your attention the entire time she's
telling the story, and it makes you feel for what
actually happened to her, you know, with the the inside,
her training, the trading scandal, which it leaves a big
(23:06):
question mark when you actually when you watch the documentary itself.
The other part for me is, Joe, do you know this.
I like stories about strong women because I respect strong women.
That's just that's the way that I lived my life.
And I mean, she is and she was miscast. It
really rubbed some guys the wrong way that she was
as in charge and is.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
She was just really sure of what she was, what
she her vision was. My favorite part of the whole
story is when she finally had to go to did
you say, was it Life or Time or and explain
it was Time magazine, a magazine just called living because
(23:48):
that's the subject. And they're like, that's not a subject.
She's like, that's the only subject. It's never going away.
Living and people wanting to live well and learn about
that is never going away. And she had to sell
that to a bunch of.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Suits well, and her first two publishing deals they fell through.
I mean, they weren't interested. Time Magazine took the chance,
and the rest is history.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
So anyway, just so you know, Sam So Martha Stewart,
doctor Mary, that one down. Murphy Stewart over here enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Coming up, Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
We read and see and share many of the comments
that you send to Murphy Samonjody dot com to social media,
even on YouTube you can watch their subscribe and comment
and you can send us emails.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
And this one's from John for you, Jody. He says,
you guys spoke of a book about sharpening your memory
on one of your shows. What was the name of it?
I actually don't remember the name of it.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Do you remember the name of it?
Speaker 5 (24:47):
No?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
That is funny, John, Okay. The answer is everyday genius
is the name of the book. It's about hacks to
boost your memory and focus and all of that. Do
you remember who wrote that book? Like not the name of.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Its supposed to be the guy who won the Championship
on Memory or something with.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
The USA six time USA Memory Champion.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
We'll see. I remember that, and he's.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
The author of remember it anyway, it's called Everyday Genius, John.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
So I'm curious now though, I would like to see
if there's really anything I can take away from that too.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Of course there would be.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
I guess I'd need to start by remembering the name
of the book.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
It's not the It's kind of a long title, so
I don't know if he did that on purpose, Everyday
Genius Hacks to boost your memory, focus and problem solving.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Maybe he was showing off and since and remember long.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
D things he certainly can't also. Anyway, thank you John
for that. This comes from Franny Hi, Murphy, Sam and
Jody love listening to your show on my commute every day.
I've always wanted to send in a listener message. However,
I started listening to your podcast from the beginning, and
so I'm no longer listening in real time. I hate
the time jumps because every time I want to say
(25:53):
something about a great topic, I realize and remind myself, No,
you're two years behind. Oh wow, currently listening to twenty
twenty four when Taylor just graduated and you had the
awesome cheese party for her. So anyway, if you share this,
realize I'm two years behind you guys are really something special.
(26:14):
That's from Franny.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Well, thank you, Franny. That's really sweet. You jumped way back.
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
At least when you're jumping back you realize you're listening back.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
I think we've got ten years worth of podcast up.
Now what I do? Think it's ten years worth.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah, Franny can go back even further.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Frannie, I had forgotten that I for her a cheese party.
That's when Taylor graduated and she loves cheese, and so
we did cheeseboards all over the house for graduation.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
And a cheese cake.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Right, oh, cheesecake as well. Yes see, thanks for the memories.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Thank you. Yes, reach out to this anytime. We'd love
to hear from you.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider. Yesterday, we did get a final trailer
and it looks pretty fab for the Devilwaar's Prada too,
and so we now know the narrative here. The story
is that Andy Sachs and Hathaway is brought in to
help save the Runway magazine run by the Devil Miranda Priestley, Until.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
And Free as exception.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
You are here to help us through our current scandals.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Cli Cli claik click everywhere. But I did not hire you,
and all I need to do is by my time
until you've failed.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
What'd you take the train here?
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (27:24):
So the other part here that we got yesterday with
just more images from it. The fashion looks so good,
like one of those movies you could watch on mute
later too. But Lady Gaga was named to be a
part of it. That music was a new Lady Gaga song.
There's a new Lady Gaga and Dochi collaboration. The song
is called Runway, which ironically the magazine is my magazine.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
You knew that.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
I didn't know you knew that, girlfriend. I don't know
how many times you've watched it, but I've watched it
in one hundred times the original movie. So anyway, Devilwaar's
product to there's a brand new trailer that gives you
more and everybody back. Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Lucy low
is in this movie. So is justin throw. And it's
not just a Lady Gaga song, it's Lady Gaga herself.
(28:09):
She is making a cameo. Oh really, yes, in the
movie in theaters May first.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Sam Scott Music News.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Oh, the rumors are flying fast and furious that Ariana
Grande may drop a new album on us tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
What said I did?
Speaker 3 (28:29):
It's ari I concentrated to say Ariana.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
We all say things incorrectly, and we all struggle with
a word or two. It's okay.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Yeah, Well, fans are picking up on some clues that
Arianna is dropping because we're waiting on what it's titled
AG eight right now because we don't have a title
for it. But she's updated her online store. A lot
of stuff is shipping out tomorrow on the eighth. She
has a hotline message that says we're counting down the
eights oops, I mean days by blah blah blah. And
(28:57):
she likes to post studio photos at eight am, yes,
talking about carrying eight lip glosses.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Ha.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
So that's cute. Look that little girl has. That little
woman has a voice of an angel, you mean, Arianna,
I'm ready for it. I'm ready.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
NFL Draft is coming up later on this month, the
twenty third through the twenty fifth in Pittsburgh, and the
NFL is adding some concerts to it again this year.
First day it's just going to be strictly draft. The
second day, before, we think, kicks off a concert with
Whiz Khalifa and Brett Michaels. Okay, it's by himself, huh yeah, Okay, well,
(29:32):
I mean that's how he tours now, I didn't know that,
by himself to him and his headman. And then the
final day on Saturday, big one here, Caine Brown's gonna
have the concerts, and then of course they'll have the
drafts for the other rounds.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Its excellent.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Nobody really pays attention.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
To some big winners in there, though.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
You know, so far with the Artemis Mission to the Moon,
the toilets had a problem, We had the iPads with
the problem. Gett an outlook on it. Yes, they've got
a problem. They had a problem over the weekend with
their wake up music. Did you hear about this one?
Speaker 2 (30:04):
You know, I did? I heard that it's cut out.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Yeah, they were playing Pink Pony Club by Chapel Roone.
It cut out, and actually here's exactly what it sounded like.
We were all the chorus, we'll try again next time.
(30:28):
They cut out right before, and that was from the
Artemis saying we were eagerly awaiting the chorus.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Yeah, they had to sing the rest of it themselves.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Yeah, you would think that many thousands of miles they
could get it to hook up correctly.
