Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Sam Scott Music, whos.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
Harry Styles new album has dropped today.
Speaker 4 (00:12):
It's a cool album title. You'll see how the album
is received.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Just all the time Disco occasionally don't care for this
new song Aperture. It just doesn't sound like Harry to
me anyway. He's doing a sold out show in Manchester,
England today for all his fans, and you're like, man,
that's stinks because I can't get over there today. We'll
relax Sunday they're going to stream it on Netflix. The
show that runs tonight in England is going to be
(00:36):
streamed Sunday on Netflix. Now here's a little heads up
for you. It's not streaming Sunday night. It's streaming Sunday afternoon,
so three o'clock Eastern, two o'clock Central.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Just a heads up on that one. And if you
miss Harry there, don't forget. Next weekend he is hosting
Saturday Night Live.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
And right performing on Saturday Night Live is Reuble duty.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
I got an update for you on the fan voting
and how it's going after one week for the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame nominees. Two and a half
million votes in in the first week. I'm gonna give
you the top five here. Number five Billy Idol, you
should be there. Number four is Luther Vandross Oh yes, nice. Uh.
Coming in at number three is Pink all right. Number
(01:20):
two I think is a surprise and I like it.
It is new edition.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Well, I mean, look, it's been forty nimes.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah. Yeah, music too, and number one by a landslide
so far as mister Phil Collins.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Oh correct, Yeah, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Remember the fan vote only counts for one vote toward
like out of twelve hundred different votes, and last year
of Fish finished number one in the fan voting No,
and they didn't get it.
Speaker 5 (01:48):
They didn't get it, so your fan votes just no.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Yeah, Grain of Salt. Still got time to vote Rockhall
dot com and you can vote once a day. By
the way, the complete season four of Bridgerton is now
streaming on Netflix. Have you checked it out, Jody.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
No, I'm sorry, I don't watch it, Okay, I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Know if you've seen the music either that they're using.
They like to get string music over conopular.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
I do love that.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The past they've done Taylor Swift and Chanted and Coldplay song. Well,
this year we're getting Billie Eilish Birds of a Feather.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Shonda Rhimes did this in Gray's Anatomy and you didn't
always catch it, but she did.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
We're also three sixty from Charlie XCX. They're going back
Aways too, Fields of Gold from Stinge and just what
I needed from the Cars Cool, and we're also getting
Lose Control by Teddy Swims.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Oh wow, season four.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
The entire season is up there right now.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Cool coming up at six fifty. Jody has three things
to note today and next. It is Grateful Friday.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
To feel happier, be grateful for little things and what
you all already have. Enter Grateful Friday. Here we are
so eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
What's going on, Judith?
Speaker 6 (03:09):
I just want to share something I'm so grateful for. Okay, Yeah,
my father turned ninety in December and he's in excellent
health and his mind is one hundred percent sharp, and
I'm so thankful for his health and my relationship with
him is just wonderful. But topping that off, he and
my stepmother threw a big party last month at their home.
(03:32):
One hundred and twenty five people there. Well, and I
had the opportunity to get up and give a little
speech about my dad, and it just I'm so thankful
that they had that party so I could say all
those things, because I've been to so many funerals lately,
and I've heard so many beautiful eulogies, and it just
made me sad that the deceased person didn't get to
hear it.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Right.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
So I'm so thankful for the opportunity to share to
my father and to all his friends all the ways
I love him and appreciate him, how wonderful he's been
for me.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
And let this be a reminder to anyone if you
are lucky enough to still have someone in your life
say the things.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Now, Amen, Yes, how long did your speech go on?
Speaker 6 (04:12):
I think it was less than ten minutes. It wasn't
terribly lost, that's not that's the best. I've done a
lot of speaking. And it was the easiest speech I've
ever given my whole life, because it's right from the heart.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Good for you and good for your dad. I love it. Well,
thank you for this. It is a good, grateful, thank you,
appreciate you. Having a great sho.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
Have a great day.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Too too. We appreciate that that is so true, because
uligis are a beautiful thing. But why wait until then?
My grandmother always, you know, said the worst thing you
can do with a compliment is keep it to yourself.
Oh yeah, so it's true.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
It's probably a human thing for us to not realize
what a person means and not realize their full impact
until you are faced with the reality of them not
being there, which is one reason eulogies are so raw.
But also it's a hard thing for some to communicate
all that someone means to you in the flesh in person.
(05:08):
But thank you for this, Judas Judith, Yes, grateful Friday.
Keep it coming eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Jody has your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Next trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
There's a documentary coming out to theaters, only Murphy. I
get the feeling that you're going to want to take
me to see this, and this sounds like your jam
And it's just simply called Lorne lo O r n E.
It's about Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL live from
New York.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yes, Lauren Michaels, Lorn Michaels, the man who created Saturday
Night Live.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
It was probably too driven to be a hippie. What
I wanted was a voice in the culture, and SEO.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Was that vehicle. Yeah, I definitely want to see that
one in the theater.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
What about you, Sam? Is that for you?
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I mean Lauren Michaels has had so much fun stuff
over the years.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I think the time he put up three thousand dollars
for the Beatles to get back together.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
So it's not just it's him. It's a documentary interviewing him,
but everybody.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Else in SNL fifty years it's his baby, it is.
It's just like it's like nothing that's happened in entertainment
before correct. And I remember one time when I was
in Manhattan and I saw him getting out of a limo.
I wanted to go up and say, hey, I'm like,
you know what everybody does that, I'm going to seem
like that guy. So I didn't do that, but it
was like it was I was starstruck to see you.
(06:28):
He might have liked that you have I don't know.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
I mean, it's nice to respect someone's privacy, but he
also knows he's Lauren Michaels, and he knows he's recognizable
other people on this documentary in theaters, Tina Fa, Chris Rock,
Conan O'Brien, Mike Myers.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
I mean, Colin Joe's do you name on.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
The All Star?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
If you've worked with Lauren, you're a part of this
in theaters only April, Well, we're told that April seventeenth.
Here we are with the weekend upon us, and so Murphy,
I want to tell you about an accident that happened
in the house last week that I kept.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
From you, obviously going to a vow to.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Not let this happen again.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
So last Sunday morning you were sleeping, I was up
drinking my coffee, enjoying fresh air and the birds singing
and whatnot. And I opened the doors to our family room,
like the sunroom area. You know what doors I'm talking about.
We have French doors and all that. I'm sitting there
in the quiet, and I hear it, and I know
the sound is that a bird got in, which happens
(07:27):
a lot when you open the doors in our home,
and it's.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, it happens more. I forget every time. I mean,
I've actually had to clean bird poop off the blinds.
That happens. Heay, I don't know that.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Okay, well, I will say this. What happens is I'll
have to go get a special key and unlock and
open the doors wide a all the doors. Because what
happens when the bird gets trapped in our house there's
windows that we have a lot of windows. They end
up hitting the glass and trying to get out. And
I'm feeling the stress, and I'm like, it's okay, And
I even know how to stand and get on this
(07:59):
side to the birds of the birdle fly away from me,
like there's a whole strategy behind getting the bird out
of the house safely.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
The dogs are like, what's going on? So this beautiful?
I think it was a wren based.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
On yeah, because there's a wren nest that every year
in the gutter.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
So this wren made a really fast charge at one
of the windows to get out, and this has never
happened before. My eyes hit the glass, hit the floor
and wasn't moving, and I was like, no, no.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
This is my fault. I left the stupid door open
and wasn't moving for five minutes.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I champ started to get curious and I wanted to
get that bird up before Champ had other ideas our dog.
So I went and got a couple of paper plates,
and I sort of slid him onto the paper plate,
and I thought moving him, would you know, go hey,
what's up?
Speaker 5 (08:51):
I thought he would come to life again. He did not.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
You didn't see any movement.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
No, I didn't see any movement.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
But I was hopeful that he just you know, those
cartoons were a bird hit.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Something in the stars.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
I was hoping that that was what happened in real life.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
So put the paper plate outside on one of those
little patio chairs and I watched it for like an hour,
and that bird was still not lying there. But an
hour later, bird was gone. Plate was on the ground.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
I'm hopeful there's not some injured bird flying around. Lesson,
No more open doors.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Coming up next. Jody has three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Number one, we are coming up on six years since
we all were affected by the COVID nineteen lockdowns when
we all went home to flatten the curve and all
of that. So what group of people sort of suffered
the most socially? Because we feel like we all did
right some studies are indicating four year olds at the
time were most affected, which tells you a lot about
(09:52):
their development. Social development at that age is so important.
The ones who were four years old at that time
have had the most behavioral issues, who now would be
ten and eleven years old, Those kids still struggling to socialize.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Just something to know. Moving on.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Number two, Ford has an interesting recall right now, recalling
more than six hundred thousand windshield wipers. Because the windshield
wiper motors has a problem and it's most likely to
go out right when you need it the most, when
it's raining. For recent explorers, escapes and aviators. You know
(10:27):
you can reach out, go get the new wipers.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Line dealership is probably going to reach out to U.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Correct and number three Britney Spears arrested on DUI charges
this week with an unknown substance found in her car.
She was arrested. That substance is being tested. She was released.
Her person her rep says this is completely inexcusable. I
don't know what that means. You know, that's not really
addressing the situation. But she is due in court May
(10:55):
the fourth.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
You're up to date. Three things to know today Judy's
Top five entertainment stories of the Week. Number five.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Zootopia two is coming to Disney Plus next week.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
It has set foot in Utopia in Forever Hops Wild.
This has been huge at the box office.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
This animated movie sequel made one point eighty five billion
after one hundred and five days in theaters. Wow bias
grossing you know film in the US in twenty twenty five,
and it landed an OSCAR nomination for Best Animated Feature.
Next week on Wednesday, look for it on Disney Plus.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Number four.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
The Oscars are coming.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Speaking of it March fifteenth on ABC, and the word
is that Barbara Streisand is in talks to perform at
the Oscars in memoriam segment.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
To tribute her friend Robert Redford.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Okay, he's going to be a huge part of the
in memoriam segment as well, as they say Billy Crystal
might come along, Meg Ryan and some others who worked
with direct Rob Reiner. It's a big in memoriam this year.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
In her eighties, she's in talks.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
That could mean that somebody's trying to get her there
because you know, she also suffers from a stage fright
anxiety thing. That a lot of her fans know well,
but it's not just like yeah, I'll be there. Number
three this Ryan Murphy anthology series Love Story, the first
one being John F. Kennedy Junior and Carolyn Bessett.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
I want.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
It started streaming.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
It's doing really well, but the family, the Kennedy family
says they have not been consulted on the project, and
John F. Kennedy Junior's nephew especially says, when you watch this,
watch it with a big capital F in my meaning.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Fiction guy.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
Me.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
He says, we'll leave it at that, that this is
all fiction.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Number two, a Game of Thrones film apparently is in development.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Anstgerian Brefin Stoke.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Oh and the Thronies are hoping for like Robert's rebellion,
or like a young Taiwan Lanister you know, or a young.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Jamie first time the big show on the big screen.
George R. R.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Martin apparently has been consulted and is involved. But apparently
the rumor is the story is going to center on
Agon One, the Targarian king who founded all of it.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
It's going too far back, folks.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Number one, justin Timberlake wants to make sure that twenty
twenty four DUI arrest. Stays buried in the past, and
he is trying. He's suing to keep the police from
releasing the body cam footage of that the officers have
of him, and so we don't know how it's.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Going to go.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
But he served as community service, he paid his fines,
and he's just he and his whole team feel like
it's just gonna be detrimental to his entire life for
this to come out.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Doty's Top five entertainment stories of the week coming up next.
Your Morning Picked Me Up?
Speaker 5 (14:00):
He picked me Up time.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
This Morning's Picked Me Up is about Marcus the Labrador. Yeah,
he's a labrador who was forced to change careers because
he's too lazy.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Oh we're talking on a dog, right, Yes.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
A labrador?
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Oh? Is he one of those that just he was
supposed to be like a police dog, but he was too.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
He was supposed to He was in training to be
a guide dog for visually impaired people. Wonderfully, he trained
for months. They trained him through zoom. I don't know
how you do that with a dog on zoom, but
they trained him for months. After fourteen months of training,
he had his assessment. Well, and they said they don't
like to use the word fail, so they use the
word reclassified.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Aw Well, it sounds to me like part of the
problem was zoom. But anyway, he couldn't work the mouse anyway.
In the assessment, a lot of the things they said
was he was a dawdler. Yeah, he had an unwillingness
to work, which was not ideal for a guide dog.
He liked to sit in puddles, play fetch, and have naps. Yeah,
(14:59):
bab it's funny. These are all things that dogs do.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Yeah. And the biggest one, which me, I'm glad he
doesn't speak. You know, he doesn't understand it. But they
called him a sloth with a low drive to work.
Speaker 5 (15:11):
We hear these sort of stories all the time.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
You know, dogs you are supposed to be you know,
criminal dogs or working police departments, or you know service dogs.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Rug dogs that wind up being hey, fun personality.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah, so you know, I mean, I guess you never
know till you try it. I assume though he has.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Now found his he's been reclassified.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
He's been reclassified. The good news is he was adopted
by an oncologist who now uses him in her practice
as a therapy dog. She has a cancer rehab center
and he is the dog. And she said, he doesn't
with this job. He doesn't need even to be told
what to do. He follows his instinct. She says. If
(15:51):
somebody's upset, he walks over and lays by him, puts
his head. And some of the things he's known for
is sitting on laps, yeah, jumping on sofas right next
to the person. Yes, So I think Marcus found his calling.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Therapy dogs are everything. I love it.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
You know.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
Dogs are here to make our lives better and they
do and we hopefully in turn make their lives better.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
And this is a.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Perfect example of you know, I mean you focus on
the area of strength and not weakness. He found this
little you know, this is his thing.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Yep, thank you morning, pick me up?
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Coming over next. Jody has your Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
Outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
HBO this week released a trailer.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
It's the first look at the latest DC series Lanterns,
which means green lantern, does it not?
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (16:40):
And this looks really good. Okay, green lantern is a
little different. Yeah, Well you're you're not excited. I'm very excited.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I tried it twice before and it just has it
where even Ryan Ryan Reynolds was one of the Green
Lanterns and it's just.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Like because it was very Ryan Reynolds. This time it's
Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
I don't understand who are you exactly?
Speaker 4 (17:04):
How Jordan Green Lantern. It looks really fun where the
original Hal Jordan, the original the og H you know,
takes on the rookie Green Lantern and they're in full
training mode and they're not taking it easy on each other.
And you learn about the powers and you learn about
what they're trying to do. But it looks really good.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
This isn't a movie. This is a series, right, it's a.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Series on HBO.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
I didn't know this was coming, but you got to
know anything that Kyle Chandler's gonna do.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Yeah, I'm gonna show up and watch.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
It's a different way to handle superheroes. It's nice the
original superhero training his replacement.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
Yeah, and it seems funny. It looks modern day, you know.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
It also features Kelly McDonald Jason Ritter. Okay premieres in August.
Do you have time, and it'll be on HBO. Who
knows by then what we'll be calling HBO coming up.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Got a different idea for you on where to donate
some of those things you're cleaning out.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Direct message us on Facebook.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Lots of ways to join us.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
You can also email us at Murphy Samonjody dot com.
This is for you, Sam, It's from So. You were
saying that you were trying to get rid of your
sandwich press and some other appliance. You're hoping that Murphy
and I were having like a garage or not. So
hey in regards to Sam with things that need homes,
I'm a social worker and I've worked with a lot
(18:27):
of people coming in and out of incarceration, teenagers aging
out of the system into their own places, and others
in similar situations. Something that a lot of them need
things are things like kitchen appliances, dishware, nice professional clothing, polos,
button ups, simple simple.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Jewelry, shoes. I never thought of that even gently used.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Furniture coming out of being incarcerated or like a rehab situation.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
Yes, starting over.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
This goes on to read it's expensive to be poor
actually during the time when you're trying to have a
fresh start.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Well, and then companies like good Will help facilitate a
lot of that.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Also, there's more here from So sometimes for people who
just got out of incarceration or inpatient treatment, they often
have little, little or no money to start their new
life with. So look for in patient facilities, hospitals and
other organizations if you have time, and many will take
the donations to help those people get their start.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
That's good because I know of a couple of rehab
centers I'm familiar, so I can get in touch with them.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yeah, better women shelters, same thing.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
Right, you're talking about people who don't even have a
toaster but are starting their life over, and you know
those are great places today.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
So so thank you for the reminder.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
So from a social worker, Jennifer sent this in to
Murphy Samonjody dot com as well.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
It's an email.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
Hey guys, heard you talking about sticky notes in the classroom.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
That was the morning picked me up.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Yeah, my significant other and I put sticky notes on
the mirror for certain occasions. It started two years ago.
It makes it even more special. As he responds underneath
the comment, Ah, example, I wrote, you're a great dad,
he wrote, amazing, Mom, we keep them stuck to the
mirror in our bathroom as constant reminders of how we
feel you're correct.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
A simple sticky note can make a big difference.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
That was the morning picked me up a little girl
in the classroom who was down about something in all
of our classmates did individual sticky notes.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Yeah, super sweet, you have like a hundred Always do it,
always do it, and thank you for joining us.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
We like having you.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
A long coming up next, Jody has three things to
note today.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Number one, there's a trend in criminal behavior that law
enforcement wants us all to know about, and it's people
dressing up as everything from construction workers to whatever, showing
up at your door saying, hey.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Didn't you ask us to come do this, that or
the other thing.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
You see the outfit and you think it's the.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Orange best you know, even police uniforms. Those sort of
things are not that hard to get. So they're saying, look,
don't open the door for anyone you are not expecting.
And if someone is outside of your door telling you no,
I'm supposed to be here with like an ID badge,
you know, confirm with the company they say they're calling
you from. Number two, Apple Music announces ai transparency tags.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Did you hear about this?
Speaker 3 (21:14):
What's that?
Speaker 4 (21:15):
It's disclosure to let you know for any track, composition, music, video, artwork, anything,
if it was created with AI, they're required to say
to list it under THEAI transparency tag. The only trick
here is that it's not mandatory yet, just voluntary Disclosure's
still up to the distributor and record label. And number three,
(21:35):
you know, the Taylor swift effect kind of slowed down
since the Eras tour is done, but Swifties are still
all about it. So the place where the Open Lie
video was shot, the London mall that used to be
just sort of deserted as malls can can be. That
mall still has seventy empty stores, but Swifties are showing
(21:56):
up to take pictures of themselves on the same escalators
she rode and whatnot.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
You're up to day. Three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
This is so important I wanted to bring it back
in we talked about it earlier this week. And three
things to know Today that hobbies. A child having a
hobby can boost their mental health. But there's some things
to know. It's because there's so much tech in a
child's life. There's never been a generation with more tech
stealing their childhood from them than the children right now.
(22:28):
And children right now have more structured time, like they
don't have the free time to just get out of
the house and go play like our parents told us
to do.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Or they fill it with the technology between the.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Structure and they're just their parents schedule them. So something
that your child can relax into and enjoy. But there
are a couple of caveats. They need to choose it.
It needs to be of their interests, not yours.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yeah, that's a.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Trick in childhood because if we all go back.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
Honestly, I don't know if you guys were this way,
But there were things that let's just say my dad
wanted me, would have wanted me to do that I
would do because I knew it would make him happy
and proud, But I wasn't as interested in there were
times when I did stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
Well, you're not going to know until you start those
hobbies to see if it, you know, sticks, and if
it doesn't stick, then you move on.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
So try it.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
But which I think that you and I try to
do with our daughters Taylor and Phoebe, if it, you know,
seemed to take off for a minute, and then then
we would change gears. We wouldn't force them to do
something they didn't.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Want to do.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
And the other caveat, and this is not this is
from like child psychologists and clinical psychologists who are studying
the fact that children today need their own little escapes
and their hobbies and the things that they choose that
are not homework and school related and all that. The
other caveat is, don't push them to perfection. It's support
their hobby. Go see their play or go see if
(23:52):
it's sports. Sports is another is a good one because
it's not tech necessarily, but it's not about perfection. It's
not about being a you know straight about it. Yeah,
it's about them enjoying life.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Yeah, that's the definition of a hobby, right.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
It is.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
It is.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
And sometimes you don't know, like how many times have
you ever thought, Man, I need a hobby.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
You just don't know what it is.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
My parents are trying to, you know, tee up little
things for it. For a little while, it was like
the model cars, and yeah, and I enjoyed that for
a little while. But eventually you get bored with that too,
or you grow out of things.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
So the idea is being sports active, play games, strategy, culinary,
get them cooking.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Oh yeah, yeah, you might find that.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
They have a it's a creative outlet collecting things.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
I mean, I don't know rocks, well whatever.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
You know, some people are naturally like to collect things,
and your kid could be one of them, visual and
performing arts. Maybe they do want to be in a
play things like that.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
So I used to collect coffee mugs until Jody said
we had too.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Many if you weren't a kid, though, that's true.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Coming up next, Sam's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Yeah, you can now get your chocolate fix at Taco Bell.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
If it's new and you can eat it. Sam's found it.
Here's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Get ready for this one. Taco Bell has dropped a
new empanada on us. Okay, chocolate fudge. It is in
all stores now. Well, actually they've dropped two. One is
a salted caramel.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Yeah, okay, that sounds great.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Yeah, okay, whatever. I like the chocolate fudge when it's
chocolate shell rich fudge inside.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
We used to roll through McDonald's as a kid and
you had the choice of a chocolate caramel or strawberry Sunday.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Which one did you get we never were offered Sundays.
Oh you weren't hamburger fries and a coke. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Oh really, well, we rotated. I liked the variety. I mean,
I love a hot fudge Sunday, but every now and
then you.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Got to rotate hot fudge.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
So caramel strawberry. I just wondered. That's why the caramel
thing sounds good.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
It's all delicious.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
The three new m and ms, their new bakery collection,
are now landing in stores. You can pick them up.
Cherry chocolate cupcake, Peanut butter cinnamon roll, and lemon pie.
And it's a voting thing too, so try them. There's
a QR code in each bag. Pick the one you like,
because one of these will make the permanent you know,
it'll be on there, We'll be sold forever.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
My money's on the lemon, really, people love lemon, and
there's not enough lemon candy around.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Cherry chocolate cupcake though.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
There's a lot of that though.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Yeah, Harry Potter. Butter beer foods are popping up all
over again. The goldfish butter beer grams that were here
last year, they're back now again. Keebler last year they
had the butter Beer fudge Stripe cookies. These are shortbread
cookies that are butter beer flavored with butter beer drizzle
on them. They're bringing those back as well. You know,
we got the McCormick butter Beer Extract. Oh and I
(26:39):
dug into this. Kind of the reason it's all hitting
now is they call it butter beer Season at Universal
the theme park. Okay, March through the end of May
is butter beer season. It's the twenty fifth anniversary of
the first Harry Potter film as well.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
So man, and that's getting the real butter beer at
Universal is halfy halfy Happy.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
And if you're tired of the same old pie powdered
mini donuts, wonder Bread has some new flavors for you.
They have a peach cobbler mini donut.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Okay, hang on.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
And they also have them that are covered in the
white powder, but inside it's blueberry or strawberry. Yeah, there's
a chocolate one called Brownie crunch mini donuts.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Those just sound precious, Yes.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
They sure do. And hostess says, yeah, wait, we got
one too, churo donuts.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Oh yeah, Okay. Coming up next, Jody has another Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Outsider Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 4 (27:33):

the hit series Beef on Netflix. I didn't know this
was coming. I started watching the first season because anything

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Yeah. I thought that was a one off thing.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Me too. But there's a second season coming, starring some
big names including Oscar Oscar Isaac and Carrie Mulligans and Belief.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
Do you not want to make Believe?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Okay, so maybe it's time to go back and watch.
I need to finish that first season. Season two will
be eight episodes and it's premiering April sixteenth, So is
I going to be.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Like a standalone like nothing to do with season one?
Speaker 5 (28:13):
No?
Speaker 4 (28:14):
I think that Ali Wong is coming back, so it
seems like they're going to be connections. Okay, go watch
the trailer, get ready and know that you could have
time to catch up on the first season if you
want to. Moving on to the Academy Awards, not this
weekend but next weekend coming up Quick, hosted by Conan

having your but if you miss us, you can always
(29:01):

Speaker 5 (29:03):
We listen to those first thing every day.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Never miss a call. Murphy Salmon, Jody twenty four hour voicemail.
Speaker 7 (29:11):
I just want to call in for Thankful Friday. My
husband I will be married thirty nine years tomorrow, and
I am just so thankful for him. He's very loving.
He's a wonderful, caring man who will help anybody, always
asking me what he could do to help me. Even
if I don't need any help with anything, He'll still ask.
(29:34):
And I'm just so thankful and grateful for him.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Thank you, Thank you for the voicemail for forty years.
That's awesome, so nice.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Yeah, it's so nice when you have that and you
know it, you know, you don't take it for granted.
I will tell you a story, and this is a
couple of years ago. Handful of years ago. I was
shopping with a girlfriend. She and I were in my
car driving around and Murphy called and you were on
(30:01):
speaker like hey, and I'm.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
Like, hey, maybe you're on speaker.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
You were calling me to check and see how I
was feeling because I wasn't feeling good earlier in the
day and that's all you were calling for.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
It was very sweet.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
And we hung up and she was like, my husband
has never called to check on me to see how
I was feeling, really, just because I wasn't feeling good
and it was I was like, oh wow, I would
have never thought of that, were you know, because.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
It's so regular coming from me.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Well, it is regular. It is regular, and I know it.
You know that message. You know it is like you
know you have something good, be thankful, be grateful for it.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
And if you know it verbalized it. I mean, that's
why I love getting that dor smail, just because sometimes
you can think it and know it. If you don't
say it, it doesn't go into action.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
It's what grateful Friday is for. You have the floor.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
So I didn't mean to make that rhyme sorry, joined
us anytime eight seven seven three one zero four MS
