Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the second half of today's Murphy, Salm and
Jody podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Before I tell you all the benefits the nutrition packed
in watermelon. Was it also a big deal for you
guys or is it just because I was in the country.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
But when Pap Paul would bring out a watermelon.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Man, we would just run to Pop Paul's house and
he would slice it up, and that was summer.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I mean, I remember it being a big thing in
our house.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
It was always a.
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Big deal, and we'd have a swimming parties at some
of my friend's house. Somebody would always bust out a watermelon.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Such a smart thing because it's exciting. It's just what
you need to cool you down. And everybody gets a
big hunk of it, and yeah, h so fun, so good.
I never liked him cold though I wanted them room temp.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I'm not a fan of watermelon. What I just I
just the taste. It's not like the taste turns me off.
It's just not one of those things I gotta have.
Melons in general are not my thing.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Okay, when it's out there, I have to and of
course it has to have salt on it for me.
I know, that's one of those big things that people
are polarized about. But I like salt on the watermelon,
and i't get the seeds too. Yeah, well you can
buy seedless watermelon. Oh wow, so you can.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh, And speaking of it, did you also have the
adults in your family and life tell you about the
fact that if you swallowed the seed that watermelon would
brow in your stomach.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, thanks for that scare.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I got that one with the gum too.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
That's not true.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Kids, by the way, you can accidentally swallow a seed
and you're gonna be just fine.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
But the truth that I bought some watermelon the other
day and we just.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
It's so so good in Murphy sweet because he knows
to take his out like it was in a container,
was already chopped up or whatever. And he knows to
take his out because he puts salt and I do not. Yeah,
a lot of people in my family did. My grandfather
did too. So that's just about, you know, a complimentary taste, right.
But anyway, it's really good for you because it makes
you feel very full. It's like ninety percent water, hence
(01:59):
the name. It's very hydrating thing. It's a hydrating snack. Okay,
it's loaded with electrolytes. It's got all this stuff you need, lycopene,
beta carotene, it's fiber, it's vitamins.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
It's so good for you.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
I thought it was just hydrating.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Have to cut a hole in it and just dump
a bottle of vodka in too.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Oh yeah, not that I've ever done that out in
the country.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Drunken watermelon.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, that fan of watermelon.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I'm not.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
I'm just saying I've seen that.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
You knew that, all right? Eat it up.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Salt and no salt, vodka, no, no, yeah, coming up next.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Three things to note Today. Three things to know Today.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Brought to you by State Farm.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Number one, Apparently tracking hurricanes this year may be harder
because the Department of Defense terminated the use of three
satellites that track hurricanes in real time. It was confirmed yesterday,
and even the National Hurricane Center they're worried. They're saying, look,
this is going to cause increase the intent the likelihood
of a sunrise surprise. Most of the images that we
(03:03):
depend on from these satellites, the overnight information. It's three
of the satellites that make up half of the of
the systems that collect this data. Number Two, parents saying
they do need a couple of days recovery time after
a family vacation.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Ah, so we do need a vacation after this, but.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
It's mostly when your children are little, you know, and
it's difficult to sort of manage all of that on
the road on a trip. The other thing is that
a lot of parents say it takes less than an
hour for the piece to be broken once you've left
home for that vacation.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
The truth is, though you will remember the good things
from it, still go and enjoy yourself. And number three
McDonald's is launching Little McDonald's Happy Meals on July first.
These many toys inspired by the brand's original features like
a drive through and.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Many drive through a mini happy Meal box.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's full nostalgia like the old toys, not like connected
to a movie or anything like that.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You're up to date.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Three things to know today, Sam's got music.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
News brought to you by t Mobile.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Post Maloney is on tour right now, and in between
tour dates, he is actually working on his next album
recording songs. He's already recorded thirty five songs for his.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Next album, Is It Country?
Speaker 4 (04:15):
And you're wondering is it country.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
More.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Is he by chance for returning back to his pop roots?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
You don't even care. I love his voice so much.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
Well, one of the musicians working on it with him
says it's going to be a step back in time
to traditional country music, a lot more fiddle, a lot
more pedal steel and guitar solos. Good unknown if he's
going to be working, you know, having everybody on the
album like he did with his first one, you know,
Blake Shelton and Morgan Wall and all that stuff. But
(04:50):
they said they've done thirty five songs so far, so
they're gonna start breaking it down. My goodness, no date
or anything on that one yet. Hear about Luke Bryan.
He is sick right now. He got sick last week
during a show, lost his voice and he told everybody, look,
this has not gone away. I want I'm gonna continue,
but y'all all are getting refunds. So he continued the show,
(05:12):
and then he's canceled or postponed a few shows for
this weekend at festivals. But he's like, I'm a good guy.
I might be postponing and not going to be there,
but I'll get my buddy Eric Church to fill in.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I'm going down that's the way.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah. I don't know about you, but I think i'd
like that even better. Anyway, a move and check this out.
This is something you probably never thought you'd hear the
Rolling Stones doing zydeco. There is an album coming out
now to honor the King of Zydaco, Clifton Scheer. It's
called Tribute to the King of Zydaco. They got a
bunch of artists together to do Clifton Shaneer songs and
(05:47):
the Stones are like, yeah, we want to do it.
So they did a song that's called snap Beans Aren't
Salty in French zydacol song passay see you hear Mick
Jaggers singing and Cajun French.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
That's interesting.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
It definitely mixed.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Yeah, it's definitely zygo. You can look for that one now.
Tribute to the King of Zydeco coming up.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Next though, Why you probably should not wear your jewelry
in the water this summer. Ladies and gentlemen, I know
how you feel about wearing jewelry in the swimming pool
when you swim in the summer.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
You want to do it.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
It looks cute.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You I do.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
I always have.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I I take my rings off. I might still wear
my diabetic Yeah, the necklace, it just has the medical
alert info.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
You're supposed to wear that every Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
So I do wear that. But everything else, well not
everything else. I take off every other piece of jewelry,
pools everything.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I'm just talking more for vanity reasons, like I like,
I love to wear jewelry. You know that.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Well, you don't wear your wedding ring whenever we go swimming, right.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I mean a little bit.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
I know I no, no, no said, I've done it. But
mostly I'm shouting out ear rings and necklaces.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Number one.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I lost one ear ring in a big wave pool
at a water park.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
And I was so upset.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
And do you know my cousin Crystal found it because
she's amazing.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Oh that's right. I forgot all about that thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
It was so hard to see.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
It was silver and thin, like a minimalist hoop, and
I couldn't. I'm like, you can keep looking, but it's gone.
I'm gonna go cry. And she found it. But you
can lose it. But there are other things, you know,
silver and even stuff that has like gold filled like
gold filled jewelry. You're thinking, oh, it's real, I can
wear it. You can, but it weakens it. It weakens it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
The especially pool chemicals.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, I can see chlorine doing that. I could see
saltwater being read to some jewelry cause corrosion.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
So it messes with your prongs and how your hooks
and all that and weakened your jewelry.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
So leave it.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
The other thing that's sort of scary, especially for you, Murphy.
You know, your jewelry rings, whatever it is, can get
caught in the pool filters and the drains and you
may never see it again, and then it can clog
up the system, and then you're the problem. You don't
want to dive down with a necklace and then it
get caught and you're stuck and you got to break
(08:19):
the necklace to get up.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
You're talking about all kinds of scary stuff.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
I just want to swim.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I just know that I do.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I mean, there are jewelry companies that will promote you
can swim even when the ocean went and in the pools.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
The thing that you were talking about the other day
with you know, jewelry flashing jewelry in the ocean being
sort of a shark magnet. That's another reason I wouldn't
be wearing that, you know, I know, I don't even
think i'd wear my medical.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
By the way, safe bets for as far as a
pool water can't really hurt stainless steel or titanium if
you must.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Coming up next, Jody has your Hollywood Outsider. The latest
Buzz's Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Outsider, brought to you by good Ex.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
You know, this week we heard and sort of confirmed
that Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are on the rocks
and splitting up. Well, now it looks like Justin and
Hailey Bieber their marriage is on some rocky ground.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
You had a weird post on Instagram or something earlier
this week about you know, ignoring me and not talking.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
To me right. Well, it seems like he's going through
a lot. And the word is from people close to them.
She's been frustrated by his antics, by his social media post.
She feels unsupported by him, and the word is that
he's been so moody. This is the word from people
around them. We don't know if this is true, but
that he's been picking fights with her.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
He had a big blow up with paparazzi a couple
of weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, so it's a lot of pressure.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I mean this. You know, any marriage can break down,
So that's what seems like it's going on.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
So that's all we know. Moving on to The Bear, streaming.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Makes sen don't stop. I want to make three sections.
Speaker 3 (10:02):

Speaker 4 (10:04):
I've tried. I've made a few episodes in.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Is it too stressful for you?
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:08):
It's very stressed, highly bingeable.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
People who love it love it. So Season four of
The Bear is now streaming. It's thing won twenty one
Emmy Awards. It's about a chef running a Chicago sandwich shop.

first three seasons are there as well.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
And then before long, I know, I've got teacher friends.
You'll be thinking about decorating your room. I mean it's
not decorate you.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
You got to plan and prep to get the room
ready for you.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
Kids don't go back till August, but the teachers are
a few weeks before that.
Speaker 2 (11:07):

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Ready.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
And I one of my friends who is a teacher,
she says that it's, you know, that first part of
the school year, feeling that kids get with the new start,
the new notebooks, you know, the new laptops, whatever, everything
is a new you get a fresh start.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Teachers feel that way about.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Their rooms too. It's like, this is my fresh start.
This is how I'm going to do it this year.
And on the whole decorating thing, we had heard from
somebody who was going to do her room as Star
Wars introduced a bunch of kids to Star Wars who
may not know it. So congrats on that, Carrie, enjoy it.
Brenda says, grateful that it's Friday. It's just as simple
as that.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Love you guys, Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Sweet alexis grateful for everyone being healthy right now and
enjoying my family a couple of rough years, love seeing
the smiles on my twins faces and how they're enjoying
life in the phase of their last years. That means
some older teenagers, Yeah, yeah, you know that, that one
little sentence where she didn't go into it.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
A couple of rough years. Everybody.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
You have those when you look back in your life
and people will mention times or a year and you'll
be like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
That was a rough time years.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Okay, Alexis that's.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Not you that that was just that's mister sunshine.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
That's all I would say.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
I've had to add.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Lucy said, grateful to have the day off and get
my hair done.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
One of my favorite things about the salon situation and
experience is I love someone else washing my hair.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Me too, because it's usually like three times when I
wash my own hair, it's twice, but it's like three
times when I get my haircut.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
You really do wash your own hair twice. Murphy takes
long showers. I'm like, what are you doing in there?
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Says on the bottle.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
It's right, that's why.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
You don't really have to do that.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
But okay, guys, keep it coming, We love having you along.
