Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Every year, the company Uber releases a list of the
top things weird, weird, strange things that were left in
uber rides. And it's crazy again this year. But we'll
start with the most common things left behind. It's all
it's what you think already, phones, phones, wallets, any guesses, man,
I could get.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
The wild thing. The phone one's always weird to me
because aren't you using the phone to call the uber
in the first place, unless at your second phone. It
would be very difficult to walk away and leave your phone.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I don't know either, I mean unless you put it
on the seat, because you're and then it's gone. I
enjoying the.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Ride, right, For whatever reason, we've all misplaced them.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Keys on the list.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Luggage I mean if they drive away with your luggage, whoa,
that's on them too, right.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Those all have to be moments of distraction, which I'm
totally capable of. You know, if you're showing at the
airport and you leave your luggage in the uber, there's
probably something distracting that's going on at that moment.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
I left my keys in an uber one time.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Remember that, Oh you did that's right, and.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Then I didn't get that. I didn't get them back
until two or three days after. You need to know
that if you leave something in an uber, it's not
on them to get it back to you immediately.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
You have to file.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Acclaim and you have to go in the app and
go get it back. I had to drive to this
man's house and get my keys back two days later.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Can you still contact them after your ride? Since you
saw the name.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
And I think so, yes, Well you contact through the app.
The app let you reach them, Yeah you can.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
But the most unique crazy items that were left in ubers,
we've told you about the live fish, one red bottom
louviton heel, live butterflies.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Oh I know, that's a lovely little ride. But somebody
had those.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Somebody had those and left, in my mind, dentures with
two teeth. That is strange.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
People's dentures. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Why was it out of your mouth? Maybe you were
bringing it to ground, Maybe it was a dentist. Human
hair like somebody left a chunk of their hair. Breast milk.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I can see, that's an easy window.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Exactly managing a lot of things. Breast milk.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Sometimes you're managing holding them onto them. An ankle monitor
was left in.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
An somebody wasn't an accident, No, that was pretty crafty.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
George Washington hospital discharge papers. Yes, Donnie Osmond group picture
was left in an uber.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Man, if you're lucky you enough to be in a
Donnie Osmond group picture.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
An oxygen tank.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Oh oh really that's ferry somebody being without that, and
four hundred and twenty donuts.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
That's thirty five dozen to be exact.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
How do you forget that?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, that's a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Coming up at six fifty three things to Know Today,
Join us anytime eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
You can also text to that number reach us that way.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yeah, we have an email from Samantha Murphy samon Jody
dot com. It's about one of your three things to
know today? Is Jody that you did earlier this week?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Okay, Hey Samantha, it's the.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Du A Lingo refresh your streak offer that they a
new thing that they brought back.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Du A Lingo the world's best most successful language learning
platform forty languages you could learn and.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Have tricky slick ways to help you learn it.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Before I get to Samantha, is it a game as
well or is it just learning?
Speaker 4 (03:33):
It's a game.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
It's interactive. I mean there was. I've used it before unsuccessfully,
not because due a Lingo is not good. It's very good.
It's me sticking with it because every day it will
walk you through a couple of different phrases.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Right, it's a mix of like.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I was doing Spanish games.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
And listening and speaking and multiple choice. It keeps you.
It's not predictable or boringly okay, well, Samantha says.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
For Murphy, Samantha says, I was playing dual Lingo this
morning and I got the refresh your streak offer. Let
me tell you I had been one hundred percent distruught
that I lost my eight hundred and fifty day streak.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Man, it's a long time to be playing and learning.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
I got really sick and didn't play anything for a week.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
That was ride when I realized I'd lost everything.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
The news this week is that du Lingo says you
can get get your streak back. If you missed a day,
you lose your streak. And people love to see you've
been studying Spanish for how many you know, days?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
And people love that. It's almost like currency.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Well, and life sometimes gets in the way of your streak.
Sometimes it's not a discipline thing.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Right, Samantha says, When I got the refresh offer, I
was so happy. Then I heard Jody explaining what they
were doing, and I'm really happy for anybody that takes
advantage of this offer. So cool, totally worth it for me.
I worked really hard on that streak for a learning app.
Thank you Jody for the information. I love you guys.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Oh, thank you for listening, and thank you for that.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
It's so funny about it's to me that's the most
intimidating thing to learn would be a language. And so
they've tried, they've somehow made it.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
They have different ages, have different abilities, I guess, to
be able to retain. It's really a shame because you know,
if you're five years old and you're learning a new language,
it sticks for life if you use it. Trying to
pick it up later after you've been out of school
for a while, you eat a nap.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
All right.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Coming up next your Hollywood.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Outsider Jody's Hollywood Outsider, There.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Is an auction of some of Matthew Perry's personal things.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
Actor Matthew Perry. That's happening this week.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
I'm Chandler. I make jokes when I'm uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Matthew Perry from Friends, also known to the world as
Chandler Bang. There was so much of real Matthew in
that character. Fifty percent of that was really him, and
we know a lot about his life because he was very,
very open in that memoir that he wrote called Friends
Lovers The Big Terrible Thing. I read it, you guys
(06:03):
listened to it on audiobook.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
I have no fear of talking in front of twenty
thousand people, but put me alone on my couch in
front of the TV for the night, and I get scared.
And that fear is of my own mind.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
He was really honest, Like you're talking about being raw
and vulnerable. He was really honest in that book, Sam's
favorite memoir.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah I was.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I know.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
You need to read it again one day. Yeah you would.
You get something out of it when you read it again.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Anyway.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
There's this auction and some of his personal items, things
that he kept, like scripts from the show, the one
where Joey speaks French. It just explains that the last one,
which is autographed by everybody on this it's called the
Last One, which is the last episode.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Some of his.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Artwork, notable pieces from the set, like he got a
replica of the yellow peep hole from Monica's apartment.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Oh, that's all going up for auction this week.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Coming up next, Sam is.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
The food Dude and introduce you to the new McDonald's
FIFA World Cup Happy Meal.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
Sam's always up on the new Eats. He's the food dude.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
It's a big day for the Golden Arches. They're releasing
their FIFA Happy Meal and their FIFA Adult Happy Meal.
Okay because all the FIFA games start next week. Yeah,
they're kicking off next week. I made that to the
sport right now. For the kids happy meal, it's the
same happy meal that you always get. So they're doing
squish mellows for the toys.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
So cute like soccer.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
And some of them, well some of them will be
the mascots from the host countries and other ones I
guess will be just regular mellows.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Shoot, I've never had an adult happy meal. Is there
a toy?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Well, you have to be a certain age.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Is there a toy?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
No?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Well, no, it's a collectible cup.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Oh okay, Yeah, I'm not interested.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
The nine collectible cups with soccer icons.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
That's fine, you know what's because if you're a soccer
fan that works, you probably want the collection.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I did get my uh my Mandalorian collectible cup up
from Burger King. I went and got the man seeing
the movie. Yeah, it's like the movie Shunk, but this
Whopper is awesome. The adult happy meal is just for breakfast,
a sausage drink, muffin or biscuit with hash browns and
you get the cup. And then for lunch it's big
Mac or a ten piece nugget and you get the cup.
Plus don't forget big Mac sauce and the little dipping cups.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
I have another question about adult hoppy meals. Did they
come in a fun little carry box?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Oh that's not happy.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
What are you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Now?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
What are you gonna do with the box?
Speaker 2 (08:29):
That was part of the fun? Yeah, it will box
is part of the fun. Okay, that's what makes it
happen exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
The other thing going on is America two fifty got
some more products for you. Fruit by the Foot, red
white and blue fruit by the Foot by the Foot,
Berry blast and star spangled strawberry.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
You can decorate cakes with that.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Coca Cola has their collectible bottles up with America two
fifty on it. Okay, and since a bomb pop seems
to be the flavor of this summer, why not turn
it into a five hour energy drink.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
That way you can see stripes and stars.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Before they even happen. Starbucks is bringing one of their
favorite drinks to grocery stores and are ready to drink fashion.
They've already got the concentrate of the strawberrys e Lemonade
refresher make your own, but now they're going to hit
the stores with a forty ounce bottle ready to drink.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Okay for the ounces.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Wow for the whole party.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Yeah, I don't know if is that one of those
energy winds or just a refresher zero idea.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
I'm getting.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
You're gonna be awake for two weeks.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Thank you, food dude. Coming up next. Three things to
know Today.
Speaker 7 (09:34):
Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Number one, due to rising fuel cost, American Airlines has
suspended six different routes domestic routes due to that. Based
on that for later in the summer, August and September,
so if you have things scheduled, you know, maybe look
if it was with American airlines and most of these
were out of Los Angeles to other parts of the country,
(09:57):
and they're saying, look, jet fuel accounts for an airline,
if that's your business, twenty five to thirty percent of
your operating costs, So right now it's tough on them.
So if you have flight schedule, just be watching. Number two,
what is ozimbic personality? You know, the GLP one drugs,
And that's just a term for it. But the word
(10:17):
is some doctors are saying that they see in patients
who are on these medicines loss of pleasure and activities.
It's not that common, but it if you feel this
way even though you're losing weight, you know, you may
need to adjust or discontinue medic Oppression, Well, that's not
the term. It's ozimpic personality, just emotional symptoms of it.
(10:41):
Talk to your doctor. And Number three Chicago Bears quarterback
Caleb Williams has scored the Madden twenty seven cover, which
is a coveted thing, right. Oh yeah, but there's also
the curse that once you're on the cover, you have
a bad season. Yeah, is that for sure statistically? Anyway,
it's about NFL twenty seven cover and he said it's
(11:03):
a childhood dream.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
It'll be released in August.
Speaker 7 (11:06):
You're up to date. Three things to know today.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
I had so much fun with you.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
The other night on Facebook Live, we did girl Talk Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
I was late to the party there. I walked in.
Jody was just wrapping it up and she says, hey,
I was in walking to another room, so nobody was
asking for me. I take it it was it was
girl talk. Yeah, okay, well that man could makes sense.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
We talked about the importance of being in a relationship
with your bedtime routine, and I had never really We
did a podcast on it after the show podcast on
it this week, which I thought was a great conversation.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
You can go back and listen to that podcast. I
didn't realize until we did that, until I went live
about this subject that a lot of people struggle with it. Sam,
you admitted to struggling with sticking to a bedtime routine,
and it's made a difference in my life to have
a really just a set bedtime routine. I do some
of the same things, like a dark shower, don't eat
(11:59):
for a few hours before going to bed, things like that.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Actually, you know, And last night I felt good about it, Jody,
because I went to bed about the same time as you.
I didn't go to sleep reserved. Yeah, but I read
instead of worked. Yeah, didn't didn't get on my phone.
I mean it was nice.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Happy for you for that.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
It was great.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yeah, and you probably feel better today for it. I
hope you you did anyway.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah, and I'm reading a fiction book. Can you something's
going on with the world the planets?
Speaker 4 (12:23):
That today's after the show podcast?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Okay, how he came about reading a fiction book and
what he's reading. I know it's it's a new day anyway,
Rebecca from the Facebook live set. So you have to
wind down an hour or so before sleeping. That's what
I'm doing wrong, Rebecca. You don't have to, but it helps.
It helps to know I'm in that mode. You know,
less intrusion, you know, less electronics, lower lighting, dark warm
(12:50):
shower or dark bath. That's the sensory fall on censori
and not.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
I've beat music. I've been making that mistake for years too.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
He used to play Van Halen at bed time.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
It's like, Okay, Laurie said, still working on not having
a little snacky snacky before bettye bye, Laurie. That's the
hardest one for me of all the things we listed
about my bedtime routine. Sometimes I want popcorn at eight pm,
and I'm trying to you know, be an empty stomach.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Good about on an empty stomach.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
There's one thing I forgot to mention, of course, as
soon as I hit finish on our little live you
know time we spent together the other night, I'm like, duh.
One of the most important things I do is my
skincare routine, which you guys, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
You just wash your face.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Well. No, I love your skincare routine because it smells good.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Oh I'm glad it smells good too. I didn't realize
it smell good anyway. So ladies, put that into and
be in a relationship with your bedtime routine. It will
change your life if you're able to do it, when
you're able to do it.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Coming up at seven fifty, Jody has three things to
know today and next your morning pick me up.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Morning picked me up time. Love this story.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
The reason I love this story is this is the
reason you would always want to encourage your kids and
support your kids if they say they want to do
a leiminade stand or something to get in business with.
This is not about a eliminade stand. This is about
a student San Antonio High school student who has created
his own store that's opened during like around lunch hours,
during school hours. It's a campus thrift store, yes, And
(14:25):
so what he has created is a store that offers
clothing and accessories and when they're all donated products by
the way, and hygiene you know products too. His name
is Daniel Munoz and he the reason he got the
idea was because he was afraid to ask his own parents,
knowing what the family finances were for extras.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
You know, it's just they sound like basics, really right exactly.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
And so because he understands that's a challenge for a
lot of families, he decided that he was going to
go ahead and just create a thrift thrift store at
the school to do the same thing. And so that
needs to.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Happen in high schools across the country, in schools across
the country, if possible.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
And I love the reason that this one started getting
extra attention is because he decided to submit it to
one of us one of their Civics fairs at school,
and he won not only a ribbon, but he won
three thousand dollars the idea, which he's probably using, by
the way, to go towards the support of the of
the of the shop, the thrift shop he's also doing.
(15:28):
He's working on expanding things. And I guess I don't
know what really upcycling is. You'd have to explain that
to me, Jo Jody. Is that taking a piece of
clothing and making it better, or he's he's he's offering
sewing kids to help with that. So it's got to
be some kind of alteration.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
It's okay, it's almost design.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
It's elevating it for sure, and it's sometimes designering it up.
It makes sense, not a fake, but it has a
piece of something that's as I understand it.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yep. So he's the pride of cast High School. I
can tell you right now. I mean for you know,
for this, and I just bet they're really the bigger
story here is just you know, from the beginning, at
the youngest age, if you want to try to do so,
this is kind of the kind of thing you encourage.
I think as a parent to turn it into something
that can be so much bigger than eliminates.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Yeah, I would like to see that go forward in
other high schools.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Coming up next, your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Christopher Nolan's big epic movie, The Odyssey is coming this summer.
Speaker 6 (16:29):
My dad is coming home.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
So it's an epic's star studded Yeah, it's.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Tons of stars, Okay.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Matt Damon leads the whole ensemble as the legendary King
of Ithaca, you know, this big journey home after the
Trojan War. He's joined by Anne Hathaway. That's you know,
she's the wife. There's Tom Holland, there's Robert Pattinson, Lupido Nyongo,
it's Charlie's stare on.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
I mean, it's on and on. Zendaiya is in this one.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
So the word is when Christopher Nolan calls you and says,
do you want to be a part of something epic
I'm doing?
Speaker 4 (17:08):
He's one of those names. He's one of those.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
People everybody said yes without even reading the script except
one actor who and he that is Robert Pattinson.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
I'm Vengeance.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Christopher Nolan called him and said, hey, would you like
to be a part of this?
Speaker 4 (17:27):
He was like, not great, I can't wait to read
the script. He's just that way. He's just that way.
So it was sent over to him. He read it.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
That's just so interesting. Here's what else you should know
about it. July seventeenth in theaters. It's two hours and
fifty two minutes and it's expected to get an R
rating because of its brutal themes.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Coming up next, Carl says he hasn't seen a mosquito
in three years, and he's going to tell.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Us how.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
Direct message us on Facebook.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Love hearing from you, and tomorrow, of course is greatful Friday,
so join us any way you want to to celebrate
the little things. Eight seven seven three one zero four MSJ.
We have an email here from Carl. This is good guys. Okay,
has that heard you guys talking about mosquito discs.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Oh yeah, I think we called them dunks. Yeah, but he's.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Saying dunks is what they're actually called.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Okay, and you were looking to use them to get
rid of mosquitos and you're on your patio, Sam.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Yeah, he's a capital Yees. They work, Yes, they work.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
I have a pond in my backyard and I have
used it in the pond for the last three years.
It is a fishing pond and they have not killed
the fish or turtles.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Okay, well, good, that's good to know. That was my concern.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
See I put one dunk at a five gallon bucket.
I don't know how many pans hold on.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
We're going to get to it. This is a complete
description from Carl. It goes on to read I have
not yet. I have not had one mosquito in three years.
But you have to use them in the spring to
get a jump on them.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Oops.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Okay, if you use a bucket like you were talking about,
your pond will overpower it and.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
You will still have them.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Ouch.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Sam. Sorry. And then the final no.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
See that's actually and I'm glad you said. I'm sorry.
It just hit me delayed reaction here, you know, because
we were Sam was going to do it on his patio.
But you do have a pond of shared pond with neighbors,
and I can see how that would overpower Yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yeah, good to know.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Good point. Well, I thank you girl. One in the bucket.
I still have five left, so I can go.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
And then the final thing from Carl, which you'll love
this as well. The ones from Walmart worked just as
well as the expensive ones.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Okay, I got my home Depot six for nine ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Okay, they don't make great value dunks.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
I mean if they do that, that sounds like a
great value to me. Yeah, all right, so thank you
for that, Carl Man. Yeah, not a mosquito in three years.
And he has a pond that's incredible, and that the turtles.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
And pine you know, I like it too. That Aunt
stuff Murphy told me about last year. Not Aunt, my
uncle aunt, but the little ants.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
Yeah. What is it called? Something ug gone?
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Yeah, but yeah, yeah, bug begun.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
I put that in there with my weed and feed
in the spring.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
I did it last year. I didn't have ants at
all last year. I've done it again this year. Still
no ants. Yeah, it's amazing. It is amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
And I haven't done it yet this year, and I've
got piles all over the place ant piles it all right.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Thank you for that, Carl, Jump in anytime coming up next.
Three things to note today.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Here's three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Number One, Amazon has a little something for everybody ahead
of Prime Day this summer.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
They're offering a chance to win.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Free groceries for a year in the form of a
ten thousand dollars gift card now through June twenty second.
If you you know, have an Amazon account, if you
spend at least fifteen bucks on Amazon groceries, you can
opt in for text and there's a button on their
page that you have to click each day. They're doing
this as a promotion to spotlight their grocery business ahead
(20:57):
of Prime Day, and so two.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Thousand bucks should cover what about two weeks?
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Okay? Ah, very com cute.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Number two The New York Library has revived George Washington's
historic beer recipe.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Did you hear about this? Okay?
Speaker 2 (21:11):
They're bringing it back as a celebration right now. It
was a two hundred and sixty nine year old beer
recipe written by George Washington, intended for troops when safe
drinking water wasn't available. So they're going to create recreate
that from the exact original recipe, which has a strong
molasses flavor, and then they're going to offer up a
Liberty lagger, which is more contemporary, okay, and it'll be
(21:33):
sold in tap rooms and restaurants around New York City.
And Number three There is a Shania Twain biopic in development.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
She she's very involved.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
She's producing the film, all about her difficult upbringing and
poverty and overcoming adversity.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
She lost both of her.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Parents, marriage to much.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
That's all going to be a part of it. We don't.
And you know her first album flopped. There's a big
story there. It's in the works.
Speaker 7 (22:01):
You're in the note. Three things to know today.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Hottest cocktails of summer. Okay, this is according to bartenders
and mixologist. You know, I'm grateful for a list like this.
Just give me a couple of ideas because I was
always that girl until this time in my life. Like
now I have a go to drink, But when I
first was a young woman, you know, out with my
friends out to dinner, before I knew you guys, I
(22:26):
didn't know what to order. I want to be seem Okay,
is that anything with a screwcap?
Speaker 4 (22:34):
All right now?
Speaker 1 (22:35):
But I understand what you're saying. Your palette becomes more sophisticated.
And the thing is for both regular cocktails. Every almost
every cocktail has a mocktail version. You can.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
I'm so grateful for that too, and bartenders know that too.
You know you can ask them, Hey, can you make
me this? Can you make me that?
Speaker 1 (22:49):
There are mixology books just for mocktails.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
It's one of my favorite things to do is to
go out with my friend Rachel because she always knew
what to order. She still does. She travels the world.
She knows cool things to order.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
What's the hot stuff?
Speaker 4 (23:01):
The hot stuff? Gimlets are hot for summer, and that's.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
A hand curtains with.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Gin, lime juice and simple syrup. Is basically.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
I've heard of a vodka gimlet too, Okay, gimblet gimlet.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah, palomas. Have you ever had a paloma? Guys, no,
I have.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
It's a simple It's tequila, grapefruit, soda and lime juice.
I think that's the basic.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah, I used to just have. I used to have those. Actually,
I just would skip the grapefruit and the lime juice ahead.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Hey, for anybody who's not up to be Murphy and
say I'm not drinking anymore.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'd drink enough tequila for all of
us at that time.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Okay, you did, according to the friends.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
According to bartenders and mixologists, they say that spritzers are
like the supermodels of the cocktail. World, because as soon
as one girl orders the spritzer, everybody else wants one.
And I've done that, I've been that girl. I want
to have what she's having. It's beautiful, it looks.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Delicious fresh in the summertime.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Diet coke with a shot is very hot, and they
say it depends on what you want in the diet coke.
Some people do like vanilla vodka in the diet coke.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
And there's a million flavored vodkas.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I guess my cousin Candace, we went out not long
ago and she had blueberry vodka and not by itself,
she had something else in it, like like club soda
or something. It was delicious, it was light and refreshing.
And another thing, vod calemonades are hot because it's summer.
It's lemonade and strawberry vod calemonades and things like that
(24:35):
are popular because they have all that stuff fresh at
the bar, and.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
A lot of the bars have the designer non alcoholic
flavored alcohols like the companies make like liars L Y
R E s, Yeah and yeah, it's good, and they
wind up being priced the same as like a full
on alcohol drink. But they're a great alternative. Yes coming up,
Jody has another Hollywood Outsider, and next Sam has Music News.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Let you know how Justin Bieber is helping raise money
for breast cancers.
Speaker 7 (25:00):
Ch Sam Scott Music who used one of.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
The most popular songs Justin Bieber ever did was pee cheers.
Speaker 5 (25:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
I love that song.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
I was singing that one yesterday.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Almost a billion versions.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Oh I don't know.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Oh yeah, it was probably the additive version.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
A billion YouTube views and two billion streams. Well, if
you're familiar with the video, he's riding around in a
sixty eight Cadillac coup Deville, yeah, and dancing on it
and stuff. Well, that Cadillac coup Deville is now going
to be up for auction. The guy that owns it
his wife passed away from breast cancer and one of
her best friends was Shannon Doherty, who also passed away
from breast cancer. So he's like, I'm going to auction
(25:43):
this car off and it's going to go to breast
cancer research and to the Stand Up Cancer Foundation. It's
only got if you're interested in it. Uh, it's got
thirty thousand miles on it.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah, Okay, little old lady drove it to church on
sunt now thirty thousand miles and it's all stock stuff up.
He did out a Bluetooth enabled audio system.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Oh so you can play Peaches.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
You know.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Get you an update here on notes. Likely going to
be a new van Halen album from from van Halen. Well, okay.
Recently there was talk that there was a whole bunch
of songs in the vault and Alex van Halen it
was going to go around, what's going to go in
with Steve Lukather from Toto session musician, go through the
(26:27):
vaults and decide, well, let's see what we can piece together. Well,
they went in and Steve says, these songs are all
finished Eddie and Alex and Eddie did bas on him.
He said they're all finished, they just don't have lyrics.
And he asked, Alex, why didn't you release these We
didn't have lyrics?
Speaker 4 (26:44):
Sammy, Sammy's a writer, yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Or somebody. Okay, I'm not saying David. I think David's done.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
Eddie van Halen's Wolfy.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
They don't know how Wolfe's going to be involved in
this year. But anyway, he said there's like three or
four albums worth of material.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
They could use. That's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Big surprise for fans of hitting a La La Land concert.
The other night, the Oscar winning composer Justin Hurwitz was there.
In the middle of the performance, the piano player got ill,
so mister Hurwitz jumped on the microphone with a question
for the audience.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
Is there.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Somebody in the audience who is an amazing sight reader? Oh?
Speaker 3 (27:24):
No, guy in the back. His friend said he can
do it. He went up a stage, sight read the
whole thing and played piano the whole night. Whoa yeah,
And Justin said he did a good job.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Wow. Coming up next your Hollywood Outsider.
Speaker 7 (27:42):
Trending now, Jody's Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Outsider a reminder that if you're in the mood for
something scary to stream at home.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
Not for kids, Not for kids.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
It's Apple TV's Cape Fear, the new one that stars
Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
I had a good life one too.
Speaker 7 (28:02):
We did what was always right.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
He's an ex convict.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
He comes back to sort of haunt the lawyer and
the lawyer's family who put him away.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Now is this a movie or a series?
Speaker 2 (28:15):
It's a series ten episodes, so you can take it
in little chunks, which you might need to. It was
already scary years ago when Robert Mitcham did it, and
then in the nineties when de Niro did it. Okay,
it was a movie then, So Martin SCORSESEI is involved,
and so is Steven Spielberg. Okay, and Amy Adams and
(28:36):
Javier is the bad guy. He's scary. Ten episodes on
Apple TV Plus you can stream it now. But here's
what's kind of lovely. So Amy Adams plays the wife
and mother here, and the daughter is played by actress
Lily Kalias and she said that when things got tense
for her on the set and even scary, it's just
a lot of work that Amy Adams took her under
(28:57):
her wing and was like a mother to her, would
sing songs from the Enchanted movie. How much do we
love that it's streaming now on Apple TV. You know,
earlier when we were doing the Hollywood Outsider about the
Matthew Perry auction of some of his personal items, I
(29:21):
didn't get a chance to even say it all benefits
the Matthew Perry Foundation, which been put together by his
family to help people already at work helping people who
are struggling with addiction, which is what he would have
wanted because he struggled with it until the end of
his life. And then there's some friends items like the
actual scripts that were like signed, some of his artwork,
(29:44):
some of the stuff he took from the set. So
it's like friends ask things that are being auctioned. But
to me, the real gem of the bunch and here's
the story. This is why you write in your own
handwriting notes to people. This is why you write in
the cover of books. When you of a book as
a gift. Sam somebody's handwriting.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Books.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
He does for me now bag.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Very nice notes.
Speaker 4 (30:09):
But you know, it's.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Sometimes it's just I wrote something, but it's.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Not just what the words are. It's that person's handwriting
that means something.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
It does You're one of the things that One of the.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Things that's going up for auction is a handwritten letter
by Jennifer Aniston written to Matthew Perry for when they.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Were ending the show. Oh really, First of all, her
handwriting is just as lovely as she is.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
And this is the opening line. Maddie exclamation, exclamation, lots
of exclamation points. Oh my god, how am I going
to live without you? Your light in my life on
a daily basis. That's the first line, that's Jennifer.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
I know.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
I'm hoping that someone in the I mean I hope
I would think that Jennifer might want that back and
give the donation to the Matthew Perry found she's.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Okay with I hope somebody asked her first. Hey, look,
I know it's a very personal, hend written note. Are
you okay with us auctioning this right?
Speaker 4 (31:07):
I don't know how that works in that world.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
You know, people who are famous like that, there's a
certain portion of them that they end up dealing with
the fact that sometimes they feel like they belong to
everyone else, you know, because they don't have a lot
of privacy. Hence this letter is about to be auctioned off.
But it's beautiful and it's a reminder of why you
write letters to people, because you know that meant the
(31:30):
world to him. Anyway, his family has it and it's
part of the auction
