Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Murphy Salmon Jody Daily Show Podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
What do most moms want for Mother's Day? We touched
on it as much as possible to give you ideas.
Moms who are busy and overscheduled and being all things
to all people in their lives wants some me time.
That's the number one. And then the second thing is
that they would like to spend time with those they love,
especially on Mother's Day. And we are hearing from you

(00:26):
on this social media connects. Sonya sent this. I have
a friend who checks into a hotel room at the
beach once every three months, just for one day and night.
It centers her and allows her to come home feeling
like a better mom and wife. Her children really appreciate
it when she does it too.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
That's really cool, I mean, really good idea to do?
All right?

Speaker 3 (00:48):
And you know what good idea while mom's away at
the beach? Get the house cleaned?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Agreed? I want that check check check agreed. Leyla sent this.
We all need me time. Mine used to be a
hot every night after my kids went to bed, but
now they stay up later than me and interrupt me
with all of their needs. Oh and the dogs now
have to be in the bathroom too, so those days
are gone. If you're not treating yourself, then you're cheating yourself.

(01:13):
Enjoy and happy Mother's Day. That's a good it's a
great one. If you're not treating yourself, you're cheating yourself.
And it's true. It's true. The whole self care thing
is real, and it's for everybody, not just mom. We're
focusing on moms now because Mother's Day is Sunday. Amy
sent this self care is necessary to meet the demands
of your family. I have two grown girls who both

(01:34):
have children. They each live an hour or more away
from me, in opposite directions. I spent time this past
weekend spoiling them each a bit. I also have two
children still at home. I am a single mom. I
love them more than I can express. But with that
intense love comes intense exhaustion. Take care of yourself. Enjoy

(01:55):
your day Saturday, Jodie, and happy Mother's Day, and no judgment.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
It's such an important suggestion because you know, as you
know Jody, the pull of what she's describing is so strong.
It's very easy to sacrifice, you know, yourself, or put
that off and put it off and put it off,
and eventually you deplete everything that you have to give
to somebody else.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Of course, you deplete. That's why sometimes and it's a
common thing I think for the main caregiver. Sometimes it's
not mom, sometimes sometimes it is dad. But for the
main caregiver of a home of a family, when you
do get time by yourself at the house, you don't
know what to do. Do I nap? Do I watch TV?
Do I sit in my closet and look around? Like
you know that that's a real thing for the moms especially,

(02:37):
So give her time if she needs time, and keep
it coming. We love hearing from you.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, Happy Early Mother's Day. Coming up. Three things to
know today. Jody's got that at six point fifty and
next Sam has Music News.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah, I got the latest spam to worry about. It's
Taylor Swift wedding invitations.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Sam's gott music News.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Country artist Maren Morris is making us aware of a
Taylor Swift wedding invitation scam or a spam that's going around.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It's going around to those in Hollywood because I know.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
She did an interview this week and they asked, hey, Andy,
you can spill any tea on the wedding coming out,
and she goes, actually, I got a spam text a
couple of weeks ago that said You're invited to Taylor
in Travis's wedding.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Yike. So they're targeting those in Bollywood and in the limelights.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Well, first of all, she said, I don't know how
they got my number. And secondly, I'm sure Taylor and
Travis would not be texting people invitations to their wedding. Correct,
they are friends, because she showed up on one of
Taylor's songs You All Over Me on the Taylor version
of Fearless I Lived.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
I wonder how those invitations will be delivered, like by
butterflies or something personally delivered, because I would personally deliver,
and wouldn't you if you were Taylor Swift?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Well, why don't they do that? Certified, you know, signed
for it. Maybe that way you know the people got it.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, personally delivers more excited, but yeah, that's personal, but certified.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I'll let you know in mine rock Okay, I got
some new eye candy for you, Jody and everybody from
Harry Styles. He's getting ready about two weeks away from
starting his world tour, and he released a new song
off Kiss all the Time and Disco. Occasionally it's called
Dance No More.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
This one's better than the first song. I like this song.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
The reason I say eye Candy is if you watch
the video which came out for this one today, he's
got toned, bare legs, tiny pair of shorts in it.
I was surprised at how skinny his legs look.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Truthfully, a lot of men have skinny legs.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, Still no confirmation either on from Harry or Zoe
Kravitz on whether or not they are officially engaged.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I was hoping, he says she was in the video.
I know.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
I haven't watched the whole thing. I couldn't get off
his legs. As you might have expected that Michael Jackson
bio pick has had a great effect on his music
on the charts. One hundred and thirty seven million streams
last week, and that's a record for Michael.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
That's huge.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Thriller back in the top two hundred, number seven album
right now on the charts, of course, Thriller and Billy
Jean's back. If you listen to the weekend countdowns, Billy
Jean's gonna be in there this week. Covin in It
Doubler thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Thanks. Coming up next your Hollywood Outsiders.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Some news this week about something maybe you're binging or
binged and wondered if another season was coming. So season
five is coming of the show on FX The Bear, Hebra.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Make sandwiches, don't stop?

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Show going to make three sections?

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Okay, they're gonna be This show.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Is so fast and was so stressful. Murphy and I
watched like two episodes and we're like, we need a break.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Yeah, and I've now completely forgotten about it. Do you
want to go back and try it again?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Or no?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Might Sam? How far did you get in The Bear?

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Maybe three episodes? Probably two?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Why did you stop? Do you remember?

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Because it's just too much. It's hectic, but.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
It's believable these people. I feel like I can know
these people well.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Chilled out by the time you got to episode three,
it was I think they're trying to establish some of
those first two episodes, the insanity restaurant business in the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Kitchen life right, because there was a big reveal at
the end of the last episode where there was something
that was found in an envelope.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Remember oh that's right, and then put back Okay.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
So here's what we learned this week. The fifth season
of The Bear is coming June twenty fifth, and it
will be the final season. So if you want a
little binge and you want something that has some closure
for you, this might be it. They also dropped a
surprise episode of the show on May the fifth this week, just.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Sinko to my own episode.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
No no, no, not specifically, that's just when they dropped it.
It's not even part considered part of the season. It's
just something to bridge you, something that they hadn't they
had filmed.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Coming up next for Mother's Day? What to get a
mom who doesn't want you spending any money? Running into
a little roadblock with my mom? Miss Judy her Mother's Day.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
This weekend, not Miss Judy, no roadblocks.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I called her and she didn't answer. She has this
thing where, you know, she works at the preschool, and
so she keeps her phone on sign on way she's there,
should professionally, but when she gets home she forgets to
turn it back on. So calling her in the evening
is like a fifty to fifty proposition. So I called
her to talk to her twice no answer, So I

(07:25):
wound up texting her like, Hey, I called, and I
want to know where you want to go eat Saturday
for Mother's Day. I said, and don't say nowhere. The
text I get back, You're correct, nowhere to save your money.
Love you.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
The thing about Judy is it's not that she doesn't
want to go places. She's active. She's extremely active. She
doesn't want you to feel like you have to come
take her to you know, pay it's a money thing
or whatever where you get it.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
That's a mom that's a mom thing. Yeah, I think that,
don't spend any money. I have heard that since I
was a teenager. Yeah, don't spend your money on me.
I think a lot of moms that are like that,
they don't. It's just like they're the ones who are
used to giving. They don't really want to, you know,
as since I guess I'm an older parent now, or
or a parent of older kids now, I understand that

(08:14):
because from Father's Day and birthdays come around. I have
I know I have said that to some of the kids.
Don't worry about it. We're good. Of course, we'll just
go eat or we'll just go do something.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Then what you need to do though, is go see
her anyway. Oh, and don't ask her like just go
see her, show up with something or take her somewhere.
So you know she wants to split the bill, Let
her split the bill, but mainly let her know you
want to see her.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeahah, so is she working Sunday?

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Well, she goes to church on Sunday. It's it's easier
for her Saturday if we do Saturday.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Okay, that's what I was wondering.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Because she's got the church in the morning. I think
it's too service here she does, and she also helps
feed people there at the church. So wow, she's kind
of busy to get it into her schedule. And by
the way, I'm going to tell you this, I know
she's not listening. I have an idea for a gift though.
I'm going to get her a fancy notebook or a journal.
Oh nice pens. And I've never really had her right

(09:07):
down things she remembers. I get stories every now and
then when she thinks about them. Yeah, but while she
still can and you know, still remembers some of that idea,
I want to get her to put something down on
paper for me that's smart so I can use it
for me and the kids later on.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
How old is she know?

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Eighty six?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Yeah, so she's working. It's funny that at eighty six
you have trouble getting her because she's working.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
I can't wait to hear about Judy's journal. All right,
coming up next. Three things to know today. Three things
to know today. Number one, Starting today, the State Department
will revoke passports of parents owing substantial back child support.
They're doing this in two phases. So if you owe
a lot going way back, like one hundred thousand or more,

(09:50):
you're not going to be able to leave the country soon.
And then is a lot, it is a lot. It
means it goes back a long time as well anyone.
There's a second phase. If you you know more than
twenty five hundred in child support, you're also going to
be revoked or denied a passport in general, two phases.
And if you do, oh, they're advising everyone to start

(10:11):
making payment arrangements now. Number two. Sunday is Mother's Day,
the busiest day of the year for restaurants, especially brunch.
If you haven't made a reservation now, you might not
get a reservation. And one of the reasons is lovely
because you know, you don't want mom to have to
handle anything. So that's interesting to know. So remember to

(10:33):
also be generous with your tips. It's a busy day
in that business. And number three this week National Nurses Week,
So a reminder we've talked a lot about teachers for
anyone who has a valid idea. If you're a nurse,
look at your favorite places. Buffalo Wild Wings has deals
for you, Chipotle, Crystal Burgers, Mobe Tuesday, and Shake Shack.

(10:55):
Just have that id ready to be celebrated. You're up
to date.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Three things to know today Jody's top five entertainment stories
of the week.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Number five.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
This week, we got the first full trailer for Dutton Ranch,
which is coming to Paramount Plus soon.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Welcome to Texas, Beautiful, beautiful Texasin.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Oh my gosh, it's the Dutton Ranch.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Now.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
RiPP and Beth are in Texas and they have their
own ranch, and they have their own new neighbors and
their own new enemies, and some of them are famous.
Annette Binning plays this scary lady in Texas who is
like a rival ranch and oh my goodness, and then
Ed Harris is in this too. Dutton Ranch premieres on
Paramount plus May fifteenth. Number four, the Michael sequel is happy.

(11:46):
We got confirmation this week. Antwoine Fuquah may not be
able to direct it, which is killing him. He's already
scheduled to do something with Denzel Washington this year. But
Jafar Jackson is going to be back, and they've already
filmed a lot for the Michael jacks and biopick and
what they need to film. They're going to start as
soon as later this year and into twenty twenty seven,
so you're gonna get the second part of the Michael

(12:08):
Jackson movie.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
Number three.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Britney Spears pled guilty to her DUI charge, but the
judge said there are some rules first though, before this
can happen. She was she pled down to a lesser
charge of wet reckless, which is like reckless driving. She
gets a year of probation, one night in jail credited
as time already served, and the judge said, all, also,

(12:31):
let's do three more months of rehab, which is why
you're not hearing from Brittany right now, because apparently she's
still in rehab.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Number two.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
The last time Christopher Nolan gave us a movie, it
was a little one called Oppenheimer that went on to
get like, you know, all these Academy Award nominations and
he proclaimed the greatest movie ever. Well, he's got another
big one. He's been busy since that time, and we're
getting the movie in theaters in July. Star studded The Odyssey.
My dad is.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Coming home.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
And hanging framing cricks.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Look at this trailer. Go watch it. It gives you goosebumps,
even if you don't know anything about The Odyssey by
Matt Damon as Odysseus. It's Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert
Pattinson looking scary. Charlie's thereon and by the way, this
clock's in. It's epic. It's beautiful. It almost looks like AI,
but it's not. They really filmed it right in imis. Yeah,

(13:20):
just under three hours. Look for that one in July.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Number one.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
This is the biggest story of the week that Blake
Lively settled her lawsuit with Justin Baldoni. They settled two
weeks before they were supposed to go into court. And
you know, undisclosed amounts. The people really making them money.
Here are the attorneys. We're hearing like a combined sixty
million dollars for representing these two people. The word is
Ryan Reynolds urged Blake Lively to please just settle this,

(13:46):
that this is ruining your career, your reputation, and your
personal relationships.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Joni's top five entertainment stories of the week coming up
next your morning pick me up, Morning, pick me up.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Time we'll go.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah, they picked me up. Today is about two rescue goats.
They helped rescue a family after a recent tornado. This
happened in Enid, Oklahoma. It was a tornado about two
weeks ago and four.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
And the way you said rescue goats meaning the family
rescued the goats, and then the goats rescued the family.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
The goats rescued the family. I've never heard of rescue goat. Well, yeah,
neither had anybody else until this happen. Usually it's rescue
dogs that sniffed things out. Yes, the family had escaped
to their storm cellar before the tornado hit. Tornado hits
levels everything. It was like a nine mile path about
five hundred yards wide, so their house was gone. But
they couldn't get out of the storm cellar because a

(14:40):
bunch of the bricks from the house top of it,
were on top of the house.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Oh oh no, just the sound of that makes Murphy nervous. Right,
I don't know how big their cellar is, but Murphy's claustrophobic.
It could not handle that.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Well, there's no light, you know, nothing. They said they
were trapped in the You're alive, and the family had
two pet goats, and so they were like, I wonder
what happened to the goats?

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Right, how in the world did they survive it?

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
I feel like I saw this headline, but I just
didn't read the story.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
When the rescue crews made it over to their house,
you know, they were going house by house. When they
got to theirs, they saw these two goats standing on
the pile of bricks on top of the cellar door.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Yeah, they're pointing out, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Ironic because they were keeping their owners trapped also there.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Or they're alerting.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
So the rescuers like, there must be a reason those
goats are standing there. Let's go clean those bricks off.
There's the cellar door. We open it up, and there's
the family. Wow, that's amazing.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Yeah, Also, what in the world did they do to
survive it? Like where did they go? Animals do sense things.
Maybe they were able to get under something.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
The family said, we were worried that the goats wouldn't
be around anymore because they were left out there. By
the way, the goats are named Percy and Penny, and
the family says, you know, from now on, whenever they're
being on rear or they're burning us or doing anything
like that, we're gonna let it slide. Of course, we
saved our lives.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Oh my gosh, I love it so much. Do you
know Percy and Penny are male and female?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
It sounds like person's probably since birth too.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Oh so they're brother and sister. Ah yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Sweet, that's very sweet. Coming up next, Jody has another
Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Trending now Jody's Hollywood Outsider. There's a new, immersive, different
sort of concert experience in theaters today because movie maker
and creative genius, I guess some people call him James
Cameron was involved. It's Billie Eilish hit me hard and soft.
The tour gonna be a loud duh.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
You told me you carried a lot of pain with
you throughout.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
The tour, so it's like you're at a concert, but
you're also backstage at the same time, but you're also
in the front row.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Yeah. He he developed new cameras for this so that
you could be like Billy's point of view.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Right, it's certainly in three D. They're parts of it
where you like in the crowd, but there are parts
of it and you're like Billy. And then there's even
apparently like it's an immersive experience where you're also with
James and Billy making it too. So it's they do
bad Guy and what was I Made for? And she
takes you through her creative process and pre show rituals
and all that kind of stuff. So, and it's at

(17:20):
times they say it feels like sometimes the crowd is
a little loud, like you're there, Yeah, and you kind
of want to hear her a little bit more. That's
the only negative I heard about this whole thing. Get
your tickets, see it in theaters today.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Hit me hard and soft, and this is one you
want to see in theaters because of the three D effect.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah, it will be the same when it comes to
streaming in your home, not hardly.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
On the way. Next it is Grateful Friday, and we
want you to brag on your.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Grad direct message us on Facebook any subject.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Welcome, teachers, nurses, your grads, Grateful Friday, bring it all.
Kimberly sent this Hello, crew, Greetings. I'm writing in hopes
that you'll share my very special graduation shout out for
my husband, who is graduating on five point fifteen with
his that means May fifteenth, Yeah, with his bachelor's degree
in Occupational Safety and Health. He is thirty eight years old.

(18:13):
He started college a couple semesters behind due to basic
training for the army, and then had to stop classes
early due to deploying to Afghanistan in twenty ten. He
is finishing his degree nineteen years after he started it.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
That's awesome, man.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
And I am so incredibly proud of him. I want
everyone listening to know it is never too late to
pursue your interest and do something for you that no
one can ever take away.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
That's such a great message, and congratulations. That's big.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
That's a big day you guys are going to have.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
That's a man who had a mission and didn't stop.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
Yeah, not totally years, nineteen years, and it is for you.
Somebody once told me about told me that about education.
Those those very words. You are doing something for yourself
that no one can ever take away from you. Correct,
So congrat It's Kim Kimberly and husband. We appreciate you
sending that in Laurie Cynthia too. Yes, Lourie sent this.

(19:08):
I was listening to the After the Show podcast about
teacher appreciation. I'm finishing up my thirtieth year and cannot
even begin to explain how wonderful it is to hear
people talk about teachers touching their lives. For this Grateful Friday,
I want to share how truly grateful I am for
the students and parents who have reached back out after
graduation to share how I impacted their lives.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Social media has been a wonderful conduit for former students
to pop into my feed and share a story or
a thank you. I've been to weddings, help their children,
and given some teacher wisdom to many after they left
my classroom. Teaching is a demanding, exhausting, challenging field where
we often see we often don't see the finished project.

(19:53):
So to hear from former students is a gift. Thank
you for sharing stories and encouraging others to let a
teacher who made it difference, know how they mattered, and
Happy Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I never really thought about that perspective when she says
you don't see this finished product, I guess if you
don't hear from a student, you don't know. But I'm
sure that what you've done as a teacher continues to
pay those dividends in so many ways.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Now, students, thank you for that, LORI appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Coming up next, three things to note today.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Here's three things to know today. Number one, there's actually
an ideal and best time of the day to make
big decisions, and that time is the morning. It all
comes down to brain power. Cognitive energy is not finite.
You've got more physical, mental energy and prowess in the morning,
and then you have this day of all these micro

(20:43):
decisions and decision fatigue, so by the end your brain
is tired, not as good of a time to make decisions.
It's good information makes sense and it makes sense. Number two,
there's this whole crowd funded bid to buy and rescue
Spirit Airlines, and it really has gained momentum by the
way it started out, by this influence. It's are online
who did it as a joke, like he pitched, hey,

(21:03):
let's crowd source this and you know, make it a
people owned airline called Spirit two point zero. And it's
been so enthusiastic. People have been pledging. No money's been collected,
but pledging like, you know, money here and there. Forty
five bucks is the basic pledge. And now you know,
apparently it's like four hundred million has been pledged for it,
but it's not likely going to happen because it's not

(21:25):
even that's not sure if if it's legally you know,
for it to be a people owned thing. And number three,
in honor of Mother's Day, how long would it take
for a household to shut down without mom? Since she's
the chef and the counselor and the cleaner and the
event planner and the chauffeur. About a day or less?
Happy Mother's Day weekend.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
You're in the note three things to know Today.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Ideas for things you can do for your mom or
with your mom for Mother's Day instead of just something
to get her. Maybe it's not what to get, but
what to do. Okay. This came to me from our
Facebook page. We have a couple of Mother's Day post
up there this week, and I was suggesting, you know,
take her for coffee, you know, take her for a
pedicure or something like that, you know, And Kat said,

(22:12):
I wish I could take my mom for something like that.
But she's a lot older and she really doesn't have fingernails.
She keeps them super short. I'm thinking she doesn't have
fingernails at all, but she just keeps them super short.
The reason that that is in my brain because I
had a grandmother, my grandma Thelma, who did not have
a big toe nail. She had a big toe with
no nail. She had lost her nail and it never

(22:34):
grew back.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
That just sounds like that would hurt, but now it
looks really smooth.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Actually, yeah, it was a bad story, That's what I'm saying.
Farm story, farm story. Can you paint them? And she
says she's not really into that. So for anybody who's
looking for something to do for you know, maybe your
mother just wants to spend you, to spend time with them,

(22:58):
you can bring and show up with a favorite dessert.
They're not going to be expecting that. Show up with
a banana split. Just make sure she's gonna eat it
right away, you know.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
If you know what their favorite dessert is that's happy.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Make a pan of brownies and bring them even warm.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
If she doesn't want to go out to eat, get
it and bring it to me.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
You can, yeah, a favorite meal, but you know, just
bring something to her. A fancy coffee. I know my
mom's fancy coffee order. It's very it's very princess like,
and I know it.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
We know your mom's fancy coffee order. We also know
your mom's favorite lice cream thing. I mean, we've got
a couple of surprise. There are a lot of things
that she likes like that that you could drop off.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
I'm taking her shopping on Saturday though for a little while.
I'm doing my kind of thing on Saturday, but I'm
also spending some of it with her, and I'm taking
her shopping for a certain specific thing that she wants, Okay,
and I'm hoping she'll let me buy it for because
she was just you can just come with me. She's
doing that thing your mom does. Hand.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
You don't need Murphy's help while you're shopping.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
He doesn't want to. Don't worry. You could clean. You
could have somebody clean the house for her. You know,
Mom's not going to be wanting you to show up
and clean without her knowing ahead of time. I do
like the manny petty thing, you know, go have pedicure
side by side. You know, that's something to do.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Would your mom do that with you?

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I'm hoping she would. I think she's very particular and
personal about that. If she wouldn't let me take her,
I was thinking of offering to do one for her.
You know what I mean? Oh wow, Yeah, it's my
mom's feet. Sweet or get her out, get her around
some friends, her peers. If she doesn't do that very often,
that can be good for the soul. You know, your mom.

(24:33):
Some of this won't work, but some of it might,
so good luck coming up.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Jody has another Hollywood outsider and next, Sam is the
food Dude.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
They we're going to introduce you to summer ween.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
If it's new and you can eat it. Sam's found it.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
He's the food dude.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
Have you ever heard the term summer ween?

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah? I think I have.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Is this a halloween combo of summer?

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (24:56):
It's summer ween at the home improvement stores when they
have Halloween, so in June.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
July, well, this is summer ween. Is halfway to Halloween.
A lot of the candy companies are now sharing what
they're bringing for Halloween, and some of them, like Mars,
we're even going to start in the next month dropping
Halloween candy on us in the dead of summer. Pumpkin
pie m and ms. They're going to bring those back
permanently and they may well then I guess I didn't

(25:22):
really care for them. They were a little too sweet. Also, Skittles,
their Skittles popped creepy crunch, those will be in the
stories in the next month. It's the pop Skittles, you know,
the freeze dried ones. But the insiders are all purple
on these. Don't know what the flavor is going to be,
so look for those.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
I like that Purple makes his way into Halloween.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah. And Twick Color is going to be doing Twix
skulls this year.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Oh is that new?

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yeah, because in the past they've done ghosts and I
think they did bats to one time or no, Peanut
Buttercups does the bats. Okay, but we're going to get
Twix skulls all right, and you may start seeing them
real soon. Good, even though we have the way is
to wait. Let's head over to the chip aisle. Now
Laz's World Cup chips are now landing in stores where
you filled you in on these a while back. Just

(26:08):
in case you need a reminder, Argentinian steak, Brazilian style
garlic sauce, and wavy French onion soup chips.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
This sounds all.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Those They all for the World Cup.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
We got a lot of chips here to cover today.
The folks that make takies, Yeah, they've got a new
brand called Mitiera. They are tortilla strips, Sea salt, hint
of lime and pico dea gyo are the three flavors.
You can find them at Walmart right now. Made in Mexico,
no artificial colors or flavors in these.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Those are good on salads and in soups where they belong,
where they belong.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
And in caso. Hey, what's that you say? You need
some protein and you really love pretzels, Well you're in
luck because the folks at uts now have many twists
ten grams of protein and each serving.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Okay, pretzel, protein pretzels.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Everything is protein. And Jody, I know you like pirates,
booty I do? They have aged white cheddar. These are
rice and corn puffs. This isn't popcorn, but they have pokemons.
It's a whole bag of Pikachuo's.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Oh that's cute.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Maybe birthday party this summer. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Up next, Jody has another Hollywood outsider, Jody's Hollywood Outsider.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Get Ready to be Scared. Apple TV's Cape Fear remake
is coming, starring Javier Bardem, based on the nineteen ninety
one movie that was directed by Martin Scorzzi. It's hovey
R as Max Katie, the scary you know, Felon who's
released from prison, who decides to go back and terrorize
the family. The attorney that's the.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Robert de Niro character from the movie.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yes, it was Robert de Niro in the movie. It's
Javeyar Bardem and I don't want him to be scary,
but he is.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
I had a good life one too, We did what
was always right.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Amy Adams passis Wilson in this one.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
You deserve this.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
I don't want Hoveyar to be scary, but he is
and it looks okay. So here's what it is though.
It's a series this time on Apple TV. Ten episodes,
psychological thriller. We're getting it soon. It drops on June fifth,
so not that far away, and then new episodes arrive
weekly all the way through the end of the summer.
And this one is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and

(28:17):
SCORSESEI he's back. Oh wow, I'm telling you be ready
and not for little Eyes. Very scary. Also, weren't you
a big fan of that first The Accountant movie with
Ben affleck I.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
We trust a director stolen kay Oh, that was a
good movie coming in cool.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
He plays an artistic forensic accountant living a double life.
There was a second Accountant movie. Now they're saying that
there's a third one. They're going to bring you a
third one. Amazon definitely wants it.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Never miss a Call, Murphy, Sam and Jody twenty four
hour voicemail.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
We love it when you leave us voice messages. Sometimes
it's overnight, sometimes it's when we just can't get to
the phone. So so let's get to some now.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
Helloa kwai. In regards to teacher Appreciation Day, and you
were talking about, you know, the teachers when my daughter,
of course she's twenty three now, but when she was
in the fourth grade, she would in the beginning, she
came home and used to always talk about mister k.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
This and mister kut.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
All she would do is talk about her wonderful fourth
grade teacher until finally one day I was like, I
got to meet this guy. So when I finally met him,
I could see why she liked him so much. He
made learning fun. He would for them learning new words.
One of the ways to practice those new vocabulary words

(29:40):
was to go into a room with no windows and
close the door with the lights off and use a
flashlight to write those words out on the walls. And
he was funny and strict and just everything. So shout
out well to mister Quatte and all the other amazing
teachers that really make learning fun and that your children

(30:02):
want to go to school.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
Okay, mahallo, awesome.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Thank you. That is so awesome man.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, making it fun. Not everyone can do that. That
is a special skill set to understand how that the
goal is for them to have learned this. But how
do you make a learn and every child learns differently. Yeah,
it's a task.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
And you remember that kind of teacher for life. Yeah,
let's check another one.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
I also want to give a shout out to teacher
and staff Appreciation weeks. I am a principal, and I
couldn't do my job without a fantastic staff. Their job
is extremely hard, along with mine, but I love every
moment of it, and I want to say thank you
to all the teachers and staff out there, custodians, cooks,

(30:50):
everyone that gives their own every day to help these
children along their way. So I couldn't be prouder what
I do. Thanks to have a great day.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Thank you for that. Keep it coming. Teach your appreciation Week.
We'll take it anytime. Eight seven seven three one zero

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
