and Sam on the screen because Jody's actually not here
right now. She's at the hospital with her mom this morning.
How are you doing, my mom?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
We're good for now. My mom is in surgery and
this has been planned for about a month in today's
the day, and so I'm in the waiting area. I'm
kind of in a corner so that I don't bother everybody,
but I'm in the waiting area with her siblings and
(00:39):
my brother, and she's in a surgery. It's a pretty
significant surgery, major, I guess will be the right word.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
And she it's part of cardio. Yeah, it's cardio of asking.
So it's not going to be a quickie ending out
and it's a hospital stay, right, This is not an outpatience.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, it's likely like intensive care for three to four
days right after and then a hospital stay after. So
it's going to be significant for a while. I don't
know what my life is going to be like for
the next two weeks, but or even two hours.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
But I'm going to have some explaining to do for Champ.
I'm sure our dog's going to be asking about you.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, well just give him some of my clothes or
he likes that, you know, throw that down with his
bed for me. Yeah. Well, I will tell you, guys,
what's so funny. I've known about this. We've known about
this for months, and we've been planning for it, and
it got rescheduled a couple of times. With today's the
day and she is in surgery. We're getting the text
updates that you know, she surgery is now in progress.
(01:42):
And but I will tell you, knowing about something for
months and day of are a completely different experience.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, you're pretty nervous this morning when the day started.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I just was a ball of nerves this morning, and
especially when I got here, like I could fizz feel
a buzzing in my body. Yeah, it's so strange what
your body knows, what you carry, you know.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Well, especially when you don't you don't know, you're concerned
about an outcome and you have zero control over the outcome.
And yeah, when we're wired to want to try to
do something about things, and this is a situation where
you really can't and you're doing, of course, the best thing,
which is to be there for her.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
And there's a lot of there's a lot of things
that could it's a serious surgery, so we had we
already knew that there's there's complications that are possible, long
road after, very possible, things like that, and so just
the seriousness and gravity of that, yeah, you know. And
(02:48):
then so whenever they got her prepped and it was
they allowed two people back there to me and my
brother went back and held her hand and talked to her.
We talked to the anesthesiologist, we talked to the nurse,
we talked to her doctor. You know, they did all
the wonderful prep work that they do, you know in
this medical world. And then we walked back with her.
(03:10):
When they were taking her wheeling her out of the
room into surgery, they let us walk with her. So
I was holding her hand and it was not funny,
but she was talking to me about taking care of
her cats. You know, I knew she would too. I
told my brother we should have had a game today.
Have told me time she mentioned those guys this morning,
(03:31):
But that's cats.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, they are her babies.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Those are her babies, and so, but while she was
saying those words to me, wheeling me wheeling into surgery
and I was holding her hand, she started to slur
because the medicine started to take effect. And I was
happy for her for that, because she's been super anxious
about this because you know, you know, it's a major surgery, bigger,
(03:55):
a bigger medical experience that she's ever had in her life.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, and when you have a surgery, just serious, you're
literally thinking of everything ad z, you know, with with
your life and everything. Although she's you know, the surgery
went up getting postponed at one point, which was stressful
for her, but I also know that, I mean, it
also opened up some more time for her to be
(04:18):
able to all the things that she wanted to get
planning on paper and communicate and all that sort of thing.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, she and I had a lot of talks and
heart to heart and I know I'm going to be
taking care of some business for her while she's gone. Well,
I say, well, she's gone, she's in the hospital, paying
some bills and things like that, and she got a
lot of things in order, you know, to be honest,
just in case something bad happens, you know, just or
(04:44):
just in case she is not. She even said, what
if I'm not the same after what if I have
a stroke during surgery or something like that. Like we
talked about everything, which is a blessing.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I guess, Yeah, it's not easy. It's not an easy conversation. Well,
I think you realize it's difficult, as those conversations are
to have that. Once you actually have them, you realize
how important it was to actually speak it, you know
what I'm saying in other words for her too.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I think it was, you know, whether she realized it
or not, for her to say things to me and
you and my brother good for her, you know, yeah,
to get that off of her chest and so she
can just focus on getting well after this. I'm hoping
because she's gonna have a long road. It's going to
be a long road for recovery, even if everything goes
(05:36):
exactly like it should when they're in there, which they're
in there now, I'm talking to you while she's in surgery. Yeah,
so I think, thank you for calling me because we're
just we're visiting and I'm with uncles, my uncles and
my aunts and my brother's here and we're all here.
But and I know you'll be here soon.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Yeah, I will. You know, it's the I was not
expecting for you to join us for an after the
show cast this morning, because obviously that's where your focus
needs to be. But it did occur well.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
When you when.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
You texted and say, hey, she's in surgery now, and
you were going to get in text updates, which I
think is fantastic. Honestly, it's the fastest way to know
what's going on from the you know, from the emergency room,
from the O R. But uh, but then that's where
you're sitting, and you truly have nothing to do but wait,
and it.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Can walk around. My nervous energy.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Is off the charts, I'm sure, But.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I just I'm grateful that she's underway though, like she
needed this and it needed to happen. And as soon
as they sent that you know, surgery is underway text,
it was funny because that the rest of the text
all morning came she's being you know, checked in, or
she's you know, those were all regular text, like regular
case the surgery is underway with all caps, the uh
(07:02):
the other.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
It's a real blessing too that her brothers and her
sister are there with her, you know, and obviously you
know you and your brother Jimmy, but you know, having
that kind of support and uh, yesterday Sam, they did
a little get together and it was yeah because her brother,
her oldest brother, lives out of town and had to
(07:24):
come in for that and so yeah, it was at
her aunt Jackie's house, and it was just a great
get together. And you know, Joe to your mom looked
fantastic at that. She seemed to be. That was probably
a needed distraction of support also to help her, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
With your people, being with your peers. Yes, those are
her peers, that's her family, but they're her peers. And
it did her heart a world of good. And it
was awesome. And I had a good day yesterday and
she's underway.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Was the rest of the family doing, the brothers and sister.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
That's fine. I think I might be the most business.
I might be the most upsight right now. Yeah, my
brother is payting also, he's walking in and out. Yeah,
they're okay, but they're here. They're going to be here
with us all day until we as we get updates.
You know all that.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Well, you know, over the years, the things that your mom,
you know, has been through. I don't mean negatives. I'm
just seeing life in general. And you know you've been
more than just a daughter to her. You've been a
real support to her through some very tough times, and
so you know it's other than just being bonded by DNA.
You have a natural you know will and want to
(08:37):
help her like that. So I know that I know
you better than anybody. So I know that that's part
of the daughter.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
I mean, I'm going to be the number one caregiver.
My brother will too, but I'm going to be the
caregiver right a little more because mother daughter, I think.
So I'm I don't know how I'm going to do
this with you know, the show and needing to be
(09:02):
her caregiver, but I'm going to do everything I can.
I'm going to give everything I can. I hope I
don't have to miss. The plan is for me, you know.
The plan is for me to do the show every day.
My brother will be here with her when I'm doing that,
and then I'll be here the rest of the time. Yeah,
that's the plan, but we'll see. We know what life
does with plans.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
You can make plans, that's right, but you are the
You're the queen of balance, and you know I'm.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
The queen of balance. I just think of everything. In fact,
I bought groceries.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
For you, thank you.

Yesterday. I got Murphy all set at home with what
with suit?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, just in case.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
There's there's ground chicken, I know you like to make
stuff with that law. I bought drinks. You should be set.
My big reminder is please make sure the dogs have
fresh water. They remember to feed them.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
But yeah, yeah, we'll take care of it.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Taylor and Phoebe will be big helps to us too.
I know Taylor Phoebe are going to do anything we need.
If I'm going to be here a lot and pulled
here a lot, they're gonna be with you and help
you and help me. I know that back. So family
is everything when it comes to stuff like this.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Well, I will be there in a little while to
help you with the nervous energy and all that and
be another distraction. You know.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I'm going to tell you what I realized. I should
have brought my tennis shoes. I could be burning some
calories right now. I'm in heels, of course, because you
know me.

Right, well, do you want me to bring this shoes?

Super high I'm not inappropriate. I'm just.

Right. Who's the girl in stiletto? Yeah, what's the deal
with her?

You know, it's just a little weg heel, that little I.

Can bring you some tennis shoes if you want, or
anything else you need.

Maybe if you go to the house first.
